20 Best Chair Bed Sleeper (2022 Updated)

I converted our guest room to a sewing room and had to get rid of our queen bed to make space. I knew I wouldn’t have room for another queen, but a chair bed would be a good alternative and still sleep one.

The chair is attractive with a wide seat. It’s very easy to convert and feels sturdy. As with all things like this, it is quite firm and I would suggest a foam topper for comfort. I would not choose this as a daily sleeper, but it is perfect for a guest that only needs a night or two.

It requires very little assembly and is fairly comfortable. It is easy to fold and lay flat but the material is cheap and feels synthetic. It’s also been 2 months and the chair is still off-gassing like crazy.

Think of the smell of an Ikea store but more concentrated. I am concerned about potential damage to my health and have left all the windows open. Unfortunately, my neighborhood is noisy so this means less sleep.

Not sure if I would have bought it if I had know much it would off-gas.

Chair is very nicely made. Color moonlight is heather gray slightly different than pictured but still pretty. Bought for grandchildren sleepovers and is firm and reasonably comfortable. Easily put together with just the addition of 4 legs,; exception that one screw did not fit due to hole was not threaded deep enough.

FedEx delivery was delayed 4 days with poor notification until after the original delivery date. On positive note, the delivery driver was very professional and helpful!.

Worth the money! Easy to install! My husband did not complain! We are happy with this sofa!

It’s a little bit hard but it’s somewhat comfortable.

I noticed all of the reviews are new buyers, hence so much positivity. Fast forward a few years into owning, the fabric on this couch started to shred less than two years in and the cushions have completely sunken in within the 4 years of owning.

I paid more for the platinum protection, yet the R&F has informed me that the cushions are not covered and I will have to pay more to replace them. IKEA even provides better quality than this for half the price.

I will be replacing this couch soon and can’t wait to get rid of it. The sleeper mattress is much better than the spring mattresses of old, though I still needed to add a mattress topper for guests every time to ensure comfort.

Needless to say, I will not buy from Raymour & Flanagan again.

We bought this sofa during the 4th of July sale, and so far we love it! The back cushions are almost too thick, bit overall the sofa is comfortable. It’s also the perfect color for matching with other furniture.

My family used the pull-out bed when they came to visit, and it was cool and comfortable as well. Definitely a smart purchase!.

Absolutely beautiful couch. Better than pictured IMO. I was worried for the price it would not be the shade as pictured or textured as imagined. It was cheaper here than I could find anywhere else. I am glad i was worried for nothing.

It goes so well in my daughters bedroom and it feels ultra soft and luxurious. Once extended, the bottom legs dont quite sit flush on the floor but that is just because it needs some weight (human weight).

It appears comfy enough for a guest to spend a night or two on, and to sit on frequently to lounge. The pink/blush color is exactly as pictured. Only complaint is the packaging, but it may be a carrier issue.

The box was very ripped and damaged, but it had no impact on the item inside, thank goodness.

I just got this yesterday so I cannot attest to durability, but I love this little couch! Assembly is super easy, all you do is screw on the legs (Allen wrench included) and slide the arms into place.

Cleverly designed where you open zippers and legs fold out for when you open it as a chaise or bed. It’s firm, if your don’t like firm this may not be for you, but we finds it comfortable. As a sleeper is more comfortable than any I’ve ever laid on.

No painful bar across your back. The only downside is it’s low when opened and could be hard for some people to get up. I plan to buy bed risers if we have a guest coming if needed. This will be in our office for very occasional overnight guests, or is one of us is sick.

We don’t need a full guest room, so this is perfect for us. Will edit my review if it does not hold up.

I bought the blush. It is super cute and goes well with my blush, gray, black and white color scheme. I have to mention that the convertible folds up, meaning you sit on the bottom zipper. I can cover most of the zipper with the pillows, but still need a third one for it to be unseen.

One of the leg screw holes was stripped. Thet was a pain. It also does not sit straight up. For the price, you get what you get. My husband laughed when he pulled it out of the box. It’s not horrible or i would have packed it back up and trucked it to walmart.

But there are a few design flaws!.

I must say I really like this lounger. You can fold to sit on it with a low or high back and you can adjust the tilt to it when lounging. It has a metal type bar inside to make the adjustments to the angle.

, as well as it unfolds flat so you can use to lie on to sleep. This will be used for lounging as well as an extra spot for someone to sleep. Love that it is convertible that way! The fabric is really nice and is soft and the pillows to it are quite full and comfortable.

I just wish it would fold into a square for storage. If it does, I haven’t figured it out yet. It stays in a chair type position. I also think fabric handles on the sides would make it easier to carry and move.

I will surely get a lot of use out of this and i would highly recommend to someone that doesn’t want to keep moving heavy furniture around, like for College, etc. Kids will love this chair/lounger.

I bought this for my kids’ gaming lounge area. It is perfect for them! Naps have been taken on it. It’s a good length and comfort level even for my 6′ 2″ brother! I am so glad we bought it! If it had a little more “meat” to it and “heft” it wouldn’t be as tippy, even if it is sitting the right way.

This Loungie microsuede convertible lounger/sleeper is more suited for children and teenagers than adults. It is well made but a little smaller than expected. It has five positions for sitting or for use as a sleeper.

The frame is steel and the microfiber is very soft and a good quality. There is a zipper to remove the cover for washing, which is a nice feature. It is foam filled.

Overall very nice, good price. Very nice looking. Went together very easy. My husband says the back cushion is not high enough. For me the seat is too long im short until I put the long cushion down then it was good.

Great functional chair that can be a chair, recliner, and flat bed. Small footprint. We purchased two. Material seems sturdy, some assembly required but not impossible.

The chair is perfect for what we needed in our small space. Very well made but two people needed to put it together for easy assembly. So far so good love color.

I first purchased one of these for my younger daughter to use in her “hideout” under her loft bed but my teenager kept stealing it to use on her bed when playing video games and ended up talking the youngest in to letting her take it to college with her so I bought two more for Christmas and now everyone is happy! They hold up very well even with everyday use.

They can lay flat which makes a nice nap spot for little ones (and our dog when no one is watching) or adjust to nearly any angle of recline. My kids absolutely love them.

Bought this for my 8yo, and she loves it. She says, “it’s very comfortable”. It’s pretty easy to move it from one room to another; when it’s flat, moving it through narrow doorways is a breeze. I guess my only complaints are that it can only be used on the floor, and that the reclining feature seems to have a hair trigger/it reclines with the softest of touches.

I wish there was some type of stand or base to turn it into a real reclining chair instead of always being on the floor, and maybe a locking feature to maintain the desired recline/seat back adjustment.

Honestly love the product. I constantly sit on the floor and it’s also so easy to set up and move around the house if needed. I bought the yellow and the color is exactly how the pictures looked. Everything was as expected and shipping was quick and no problems with ordering.

Would buy another product from them again.

I’ve had a complicated relationship with this sofa as I know other reviewers most likely never intended for this sofa for daily use. It has been subjected to daily use conditions, but nowhere in the product listing did it say it couldn’t be used for that.

I only feel it’s fair to give this disclaimer. The couch is just fine for comfort, nice and firm, and nothing too outrageous. it does sit a bit higher than desired. It’s truly a small sofa and fits my space perfectly.

The main reason I got it was because of the size dimensions. I live in a studio but it’s nice to have a seating area that can also double as an emergency sleeping area for guests. That’s about it for the good parts, now for the bad and ugly.

So far one tufting button has completely pulled off, two more tufting buttons had caps pop off that I could never get to go back in place. I have to deal with these metal caps digging into my side or skin if I’m not completely covered with fabric (having a shirt off or wearing shorts as opposed to pants is a nope).

The material is already matting in terms of the fabric the cushions themselves are made from, the cushion is showing heavy wear less than a year in. When the sofa shipped, one of the rollers on the slide-out portion of the bed-part had already broken already, even though it was rubber! The arm has also failed on the left side of the couch where I used to rest my elbow.

This weakened the particle board underneath and there is now a hole in the arm. The fabric is still in fact but the divet is very visible and only a matter of time before the fabric falls through. I will be requesting a warranty replacement for this sofa, I’m extremely unhappy.

What has prevented me from making a claim is because I could barely get the thing into my walk-up apartment! I cannot physically do it alone as it’s too massive for my stairwell and I’m going to need help getting this thing removed.

If you have high blood pressure issues this bed may cause a stroke. The back of the couch lays down. However it is at a slant downwards and the distribution of weights make it worse. I bought the warranty but it doesn’t fix anything that isn’t broken.

Meaning it’s made this way. It’s expensive and not functioning as a bed would. I stack pillows to make up the difference. That being said during the night they manage to move and I wake up with a numb head and more.

I shopped for weeks trying to find the right convertible sofa for a recently completed garage renovation to guest room/man cave/TV room/gym. This thing is awesome for sitting and TV watching. Pulls out and pops up.

Haven’t had anyone sleep on it yet, but have to imagine it’s way more comfortable than an fold out spring like sofa bed. One concern, and it might just be the location where we have it, color seems to be fading from direct sunlight.

I try to remember to cover it with a blanket during the direct sun hours.

I’ve been researching convertible furniture for my small space and this is quite the deal. Similar pieces are easily $500-1,000+. This is a nice fusion of a oversized chair and a love seat, it can seat two snuggly or one comfortably! I love the rolling pull out and up lounger feature and makes transition from a chair to a chaise happen in seconds.

Assembly is screwing on the chair pegs on the arm pieces and slide them into place. I think shimmying the major piece of the chair into your desire place takes more time and effort than the assembly part.

Box hold the major piece, two separate arm chair, a small box with the pieces for the arm chair pieces and assembly instruction. The back part of the chair has that clickly snap at a angle part, if you ever had a futon – this will be a familiar concept.

It might take a few times to figure it out but it’s becomes easier with each time. Be careful on “setting” the angle! Make sure it’s firm before you settled in or it might flatten on you. The cushioning of this sofa turn twin sleeper is very plush.

Many similar pieces in this price point are very firm. This is a nice feature and Serta confirmed thier brand rep with how soft it is to sit or lay down on this piece. If it’s too firm, a foam mattress topper can solve it! The color is a light grey, I wished there was color options or at least a darker grey – the light color might turn off those with households that are prone to stains.

I got chair cover that’s a matching gray to my ottoman to align with my living room color scheme. Overall, I love this piece and checked off all the boxes I desired!.

I liked this furniture so much I bought a second one for downstairs. The first one is in my office upstairs and the 2nd is in the large family room downstairs. Often sleeper convertibles look good in photos but in person they are flimsy and not comfortable to sleep on.

Not this one. The bed is firm and comfortable. Sturdy. Very happy with this purchase. I convert them often and so far no problems, everything works well and fine.

The second day of having the item the front wheel broke in half. I had black markings on my floor from the wheels Less then a month I kept seeing screws when I moved the sleeper to clean my carpet. Over time within a month I notice more screws and the cushion used to lower and go under the sleeper was wobbly.

I noticed the framed used to adjust the front cushion was coming apart due to the screws stripping. I do not have little kids only my 15 year old son using the sleeper. Big Lots allowed me to return the sleeper due to Serta warranty in which I wasn’t able to submit a claim.

Other then those issues we loved the sleeper at first.

Good looking floor based lounge chair, and in principle, works as described. The price is most attractive as a single seat/sleeper solution. What I don’t like, the foam is thick, sturdy, but hasn’t softened to a point where it’s comfortable or supportive.

In the primary position as a seat, the back in verticle L position, I really feel its rigid, not really “lounge able”. But in that position, the seams of the back and seat pillows come together, so the item looks like a chair, no gaps exposed between back and seat.

Dropping the back to an inclined first position, its much more comfortable, and probably best as a lounger type seat. But in that position, it opens a gap between the back and the seat, so you have an opening as an open slat in the lumbar area between the seat and back.

At the price, it’s a cheap add to a room. Havent had a use as a sleeper yet to comment.

The chair itself seems sturdy and made well, but the cushion doesn’t hold up. My teenage son, who is about 115 lbs, sits on this as a chair (folded up as pictured) several hours a day while doing homework, listening to music, etc.

After a month, the chair has a butt indentation in the center. Now he has to try to sit on the sides for even wear. The cushion can be removed, so we’ll likely find another cushion or solution. Other than that, which is huge since it’s a chair, the quality and craftsmanship seem better than expected.

Color and picture are accurate. Cover (faux suede microfiber, I believe) is fine, although we haven’t washed it yet. With the wood back, the chair is sturdy, but easily carried to other rooms. Surface is roomy.

There were little feet for the bottom. Back is adjustable, and hinges work fine. The cushion that serves as a back rest can serve as a head rest if the back is down, or it can be unfolded for extra length.

My son doesn’t lie on or unfold it, so I can’t speak to how the other cushions hold up. They’re probably the same, but they’re fine without having to bear direct weight. Still, ninety bucks to me is a lot to pay for a chair that gets an indented cushion after a month.

(BTW, you have to push the back forward to a certain point in order to release it to recline. I don’t remember instructions being included. ).

I’m blown away by the Powell sofa bed. I got this is grey and its gorgeous. The grey is the perfect shade (not too dark or too light) and it looks amazing with the rest of my house. This sofa bed was incredibly easy and fast too set up.

Literally took like 5 mins to just screw in the legs and wheels. Everything else was already assembled making for a quick and easy no headache set up. I love products that have multiple purposes. This sofa bed comes assembled looking like an ottoman and then can convert into a chair, bed and a chaise.

The ottoman is large and is usually how it looks in my house. It is large enough to seat 2 people comfortably or nice enough to kick up your feet on at the end of a busy day. The bed is a nice and decent size.

It is a twin bed and I fit comfortably on it. The chaise is is nice too especially if you want to kick your legs up and rest them. Converting the ottoman into a bed or chair/chaise is super quick and easy and takes seconds! You can adjust the back part and doing so will turn it into a chair/chaise.

You can also pull out the bottom and it will turn it into a bed/chaise. It takes literally seconds and so easy my 8 year old turns the ottoman into a chair often. It also comes with a pillow. The pillow is a nice size and comfortable.

The ottoman is pretty firm but personally I really love it! It feels great on my back and it is super comfortable and has become a favorite spot to relax and hangout on in my household. I can’t wait to be able to have guest come over and stay so they too can use this ottoman/sofa/chair.

It would make an easy and comfortable place for a visiting family or friend to spend the night or weekend sleeping on. Since converting this ottoman is so easy it makes having this in a small apartment convenient and a must have.

While I don’t live in an apartment anymore I remember the need for more space and this would have been amazing and so useful. This ottoman is a bit heavy but it does have wheels so it makes moving it a bit easier especially if you have wood flooring.

I lay a blanket over it as a cover but have also spot cleaned it. It was easy and quick. The material is nice and it seems really well made. I’m not sure what the weight limit is on this bed/chair/ottoman is but its held a little over 300 pounds and felt sturdy.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with this ottoman sofa bed and would definitely recommend. Not only does it look gorgeous but its so functional and useful! I love it!.

For starters, the chair looks nice – the description does this chair justice. It’s easy to assemble the pieces you need to assemble. The material is thick, but the pull out section of this chair seems like it might break over time.

I’ve had it a few weeks now, and it’s been fine so far, but I worry over time it won’t hold up. It’s also very hard, and rather uncomfortable. The pillow it comes with isn’t the most comfortable either.

For just sitting, it’s not too bad, and the adjustable back is great, but for sleeping it’s very firm. The chair can also be turned into an ottoman, which is a great feature and what we’ve been using it as.

For just an extra space, it’s not a terrible options, it’s just not that comfortable.

SO easy to put together, and the color is really beautiful (I got the teal, matches the artwork in my living room for a Pop of color. ) Seems durable, well-made and I like the material. The only caveat is that it is not soft or plush.

You will probably need a twin-sized egg crate or pillowtop to put under a sheet for someone to sleep comfortably. Other than that, it serves it’s purpose, and beautifully! (Note: use 2 people to assemble bc after you attach the wheels and feet, you will both have to pick it up and place on the floor.

If you roll it onto the feet yourself, you risk bending the feet into the base and cracking it – it may never sit flat on the floor after that. ).

We got the Berin 72″ sleeper sofa in Sumner Graphic fabric. It arrived in less than a week! It’s the perfect size for our guest room / family room and anchors the room in just the right way. We haven’t slept on the mattress ourselves or had guests yet, but we had slept on this sofa at a friend’s a few years ago and loved it.

The fabric is quite nice and should hold up to our own use as a TV-watching station, as well as our two dogs and cat. The small dog likes to rub herself dry along the sides and base of the couch when she comes in from the rain if a human doesn’t immediately provide a towel! We opted for the tall tapered legs and those seemed difficult for the delivery people to install.

After they left, we saw that the legs were crooked! We called R&B and they sent a crew to fix the problem several days later. The tall legs do make the couch sit higher, which could be an issue for shorter people.

I don’t like a couch where I can’t put my feet on the floor! I’m 5’5, and I just barely can touch the floor when seated. The advantage of the taller legs is that you can clean under the couch without moving it.

And the couch is pretty heavy with the sleeper mechanism and mattress. There are always tradeoffs! Overall, we’re happy with this purchase and think this couch is going to last many years and serve us well.

Our sofa sleeper is set up in our guest bedroom. Not only is it nice looking, it is incredibly comfortable. I find myself going to it often for reading, lounging or when having a telephone conversation.

When my spouse’s snoring gets too loud, I head to the guest bedroom. Opening the sofa sleeper is smooth and easy and the mattress is very comfortable. We keep a mattress pad and fitted sheet on the mattress at all times.

Both fold up into the frame with no problem. When it is time to sleep, I simply pull open the sofa sleeper, grab my down comforter, and snuggle in for a good night’s sleep. These sofa sleepers are a significant $ investment, but well worth the cost.

The bed is great. It is extremely difficult to close. Had it serviced and it is still difficult to close. In the two months that we have had the couch the cushions are already loosing their shape. Considering the cost it should be much better.

Its beautiful. Fits the room perfectly and i love the fabric and the color navy I haven’t slept on it. Sitting on the sofa is very firm. Only had this item for 4 days

Bob’s always has high quality, affordable furniture. I like this sectional a lot. It feels very firm the first time that you sit on it but it gets more comfortable as the memory foam starts to work. It is easy to fall asleep on and it is perfect for my space.

There is plenty of room and the chaise is the best place to sit in my opinion. The other areas are nice and comfortable too but you can put your feet up on the chaise. I got different pillows. The pillows are nice looking but they are decorative and not comfortable to lay on.

This sectional does not disappoint. I bought this sectional because the reviews were good. I didn’t get a chance to go to the store to try it out. To be honest when it was unpacked and after the delivery guys put it together and I sat on it I thought, “what have I done” because it felt so firm.

This couch wasn’t my first choice but for sizing reasons it was the couch that would fit best within my living space. Very glad I ended up picking this couch though. It tucks in nicely against the wall it has a simple sophisticated look without being too proper.

Definitely emits comfort vibes with its slight oversized look. Wished the rolled arms were longer (they are on the short side). Couch has it’s stiffness but I think its comfortable to sit on and nappable to a point* the old days of slumber are out with this one.

Because it’s a sturdy couch, I think breaking it in will take some time. But I love it.

We have had this couch for ALMOST a year. I do love it BUT…seems to be a minor defect and I’ll say with the type of fabric, it is not super easy to keep clean if you have animals that shed a lot. It seems to attract a lot of a hair and is rather difficult to get off.

But if you don’t have animals that shouldn’t be a problem for you. There is Velcro that is on the bottom of the 3 cushions and is supposed to attach to the base of the couch. But the Velcro on the cushions are vertical and the part it is supposed to attach to to keep in place is horizontal so it’s starting to tear the fabric part of the cushion and is exposing the cotton inside.

Not sure if it’s just a defect on mine or if it’s how it’s supposed to be?.

This sofa bed is perfect for us. It is sleek, looks great, and fits in with just about any decor. The sofa gives you a firm seating, which we like. No slouching here. The foam mattress, when the bed is engaged, is firm and comfortable to the point where you can make this your permanent bed.

It is used everyday, actually. It is easy to put up and take down, even for someone who might have strength challenges. We are extremely pleased with this purchase and were thrilled that it was in stock since we needed something immediately.

We had originally bought this type sleeper sofa from R&B in 2007. Have loved it and our guests always complimented the comfort. In the last few years, it has become increasingly difficult to open (never easy, just more difficult).

We had it in our finished basement office/guest bedroom. A flash flood due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida put an end to that sofa. The previous sleeper sofa sat very close to the floor & the flood destroyed it.

When we went back to R&B to see what they had to offer as a replacement, this was what we saw. THEY FIXED EVERYTHING we didn’t like! The arms are narrow (as an option), the legs are much higher off the ground (option), the opening mechanism is smooth and easy, and there is a cooling layer on the foam mattress.

The cement color is the bomb! Very Mad Men & classic! The arms/ legs are interchangeable, so super easy to change your mind after buying. Super happy with this new sleeper sofa!.

Seeing the internal structure of the separate “boxes” the comprise the whole sofa, you can see that there is not much internal re-enforcement. There are structural “nerves” in certain locations, but more are needed if they are to support heavy use.

The back of the couch is the thinnest cardboard possible. As a matter of fact one of the pieces where already cracked broken and we had to wait for two days for a replacement. The covers, which are coming separately, are made to fit EXACTLY and ONLY the visible areas, with less than half a centimeter to wrap around the corners or edges! Is it SOOOO much expensive to provide a few centimeters more of fabric to make it easier to “dress” the couch? Also the screws/nuts are EXACTLY the minimum amount required.

I accidentally dropped a bolt that rolled under some packages, and I had to look for it like crazy simply because there was NOT even one extra. It should cost them a cent or two to include a couple of extras.

The whole process left me with the strongest stench of the stringiest approach to deliver a couch with any and all possible ways to minimize cost. The only redeeming factor is the 10 years warranty that still needs to be verified how good it is.

Five-seater chaise combination. Delivery arrived as scheduled three days after purchase (No delivery charges when you purchase and pay in-store)—ten compact packages. Assemble a section at a time. Some detail of attaching left us guessing in the instructions.

A search online provided guidance. Substantial timber construction. The fabric is a luxurious feel. The covers require ironing for the crease and fold line removal from the packaging, so allow plenty of time to finish well.

Looks excellent with a wide armrest option. Very roomy, modern and super comfortable. We love the exceptional value for the practicability and versatile options. We like the removal-to-wash feature and the ability to replace the colour in the future altogether.

Hard to beat for a large chaise sofa – 5 stars from us.

I was afraid to buy a couch online so I went to the showroom and tried out the couches there. I really like this couch. It is deep seated, the cushions are solid, my kids make forts out of the bottom cushions.

It was easy to assemble, I did it myself in a couple hours. I didn’t have any issues with the cushions like some other people reviewed , however I would say to remove the tag before you put the cover on the cushions or else they make a crackling sound.

My only qualm is the color is more of a blueish gray than a true gray. Oh and my order was cancelled by IKEA but my credit card was still charged. so I had to run to IKEA to pick up another one in person before it was out of stock again, so maybe pick it up yourself at the store.

Overall very satisfied with this product, not so satisfied with customer service though.

It sure does feel very good to 1StopBedroom. And not only did I pay less for this Teal Bed but I got top quality for my money. I am very happy with this purchase and I will continue to be a loyal customer while recommending my friends.

This bed comes already assembled except you just need to screw on the “feet” NO tools needed. The material is durable and if you’re okay with a firm mattress then this is the one for you. It is comfy and wider than others that I looked at.

We have a VERY small 3rd “guest” bedroom/office and this is just absolutely perfect for the space in there. The chair (when the back is raised up) is deep and comfortable even for my husband who is 6′ 3″.

I am SO happy that I found this bed and NO shipping charge??? I can’t get any better. Definitely recommend it.

The chair looks like it would be great for what we wanted it for but it is too deep for our 1920’s house. The specs said it was 33″ deep but it is actually 43″ deep, which is really unfortunate because it was otherwise perfect.

Firm as we were looking for – it would have been very comfortable. Nice fabric (grey) and nice height as a bed at 16″ high.

I love this chair. It’s exactly what I was looking for at an affordable price. It turns into a bed for company. It didn’t even need to be put together, just the wheels, and takes up very little space.

Good investment if you may need something for company to sleep on or just sit on.
