20 Best Chair For Therapist (2022 Updated)

I’ve purchased 3 of these chairs. Initially, I was looking for a chair with good reviews that provided excellent lumbar support and didn’t cost me a small fortune. I have not been disappointed. I no longer need a supplemental lumbar support pillow and find this chair has all the adjustments I need.

The only product recommendation I would make is for the chair to allow the back to move a little farther forward, say slightly past 90 degrees vertical. This is simply a personal preference and not a negative comment by any means.

My daughter has back problems like I do, so I bought her one. She is only 17, but within a couple of weeks, her back pain went away completely. Recently, I had my wife try it since she was complaining of shoulder pain.

She ended up using mine the entire day and wanted one immediately. Besides the positive product results, customer service is outstanding. All around, highly recommended.

I am a returning customer. This chair outbids all other competitors. Purchasing a chair online was risky as I am unable to physically try prior to purchase. I’ve been searching for the “right” chair for years and I have bought numerous other brands and failed miserably.

Then, my co-worker referred me to NOUHAUS Ergonomic Office Chair. The the moment I assembled the chair, I knew this was it! The quality, weight, looks, design and comfort was beyond my expectations. It was truly amazing.

I gave the chair to my son and he definitely agreed. He is enjoying the chair and he can focus much more on his zoom class because this chair is just too comfortable. So I bought one more for my office.

This is the truly one and only chair that fits all my criteria. There is no competition on the market. Highly recommended! It’s simply excellent!.

This is my first ‘ergonomic’ chair, having previously used “cheaper” office chairs when working from home. I must say that although it isn’t particularly cushioned, this chair is brilliant for my posture – especially after sitting for long hours at my desk.

It can be easily adjusted, and encourages an upright posture. I also particularly like that I can sit on the chair sidewards and backwards if I like (although, I’m not sure if you’re supposed to). I was apprehensive at first due to the price tag, however I am confident that this was an investment.

Assembly was incredibly easy; I simply needed to attach the wheelbase, and tighten ONE bolt (with the provided hex key). I was impressed! It would be great these products were on display in more John Lewis stores (to try them out), however – I went to one of the brand’s showrooms instead.

Overall, this chair was an investment, and I am very happy with my purchase.

While furnishing a new office, my wife (interior designer) set me up with a vendor she works with often. Although my entire office needed furnishing, my eyes (and everyone you know) immediately saw this chair amongst the sea of office furniture (chairs, tables, desks, etc.

). I have a standing desk in my office and had been looking for months for the right stool, along with the right office chair for my sitting desk. Unbelievably, I found the best of both worlds in one! No joke, this chair makes it easier to go to work.

No matter what type of sitting/standing scenario you may be in, this chair offers insane versatility and unconditional ergonomic precision. As someone who strongly believes that sitting is the crux of all evil in terms of our mobility, flexibility, posture, leg strength, and even longevity, this chair is a panacea.

Furthermore, although I am average height, this chair adjusts incredibly high, and would be just as perfect for someone who is very tall. Although there is a steep price tag that comes along with the chair, I am positive, that is money that is very well-invested, especially when you account for the problems that it can prevent later on in life.

I couldn’t be more pleased, nor impressed. One benefit that I haven’t seen articulated anywhere is how incredible this chair is to sit in, backwards. when you adjust the tilt, tension, and height, you can face backwards on the chair, with the backplate resting against your chest.

In doing so, you maintain open hips, just as though you were front-facing. In that sense, this chair is exceptional for those with a weak core, lower back issues, tight hamstrings, and poor ankle flexibility; moreover, I can’t imagine a better chair for someone who sits/stands in front of a drafting table all day.

Finally, another side benefit of this chair is that it is an excellent talking point, because everyone that comes into my office asks about it. especially kids!.

I first saw the HAG Capsico in 2014. A co-worker had one, and I was a bit skeptical because it IS a weird chair. After trying it for a short period, I wanted to give the Capsico a try for myself as my primary desk chair because every ‘normal’ chair didn’t fit me (I’m 5’ 2”).

I’d looked at every office supply store (for years), and I felt like Goldilocks. Those ’normal’ chairs were too tall, too wide, too deep, my feet didn’t hit the ground, the armrests were awful and the wrong height and I couldn’t get the chair close enough to a desk, and none had adequate lumbar support in the right place.

I searched for years and bought numerous rotten chairs that just never made me happy or comfortable. Luckily, I was able to order both the L-shaped sit/stand workstation from ErgoDepot (now Fully) along with the HAG Capsico chair (fully padded style) with the standard height hydraulic shaft and the footring.

I love them! Goldilocks is very happy! Everything is JUST RIGHT! My 2014 HAG Capsico is a vibrant color called Insight Red and it’s tiny-checkered heavy-gauge fabric still looks new today. It is my favorite upholstery fabric! In December 2017 I finally got a 100% custom-built standing desk at home and I knew I had to have another HAG Capsico chair to go with it.

The new dark red fabric (now called EcoPoly) may have changed color and texture since 2014, but the chair is the same fabulous design with so much adjustability! I like the old fabric better, but it is still very nice.

I really only have 2 criticisms: The very first step in assembly is where you have to insert a heavy machine screw into a tight threaded hole (you will need a hefty Allen wrench). This holds the backrest to the seat.

The instructions provide a picture and show a bulging muscled arm as a necessary tool. So true! It was a big struggle, and I was starting to panic and stress out, but we managed to get the threads to finally feed in.

Once you get that done, everything else is a breeze! The other minor criticism is about the new 2017 EcoPoly fabric–it attracts every piece of lint, down, dust, and cat hair floating around, and it doesn’t let go.

Lint never sticks to the 2014 Capsico fabric! It is also a bit thinner fabric than the 2014 Capsico, and a bit stretchier, which means the fabric moves with you a bit as you slide off the chair. It is nice to the touch though.

On the positive side, Fully customer service is extremely responsive. The 2014 chair had been assembled by someone else and whoever did it didn’t install the footrest ring spacer (an absolute must for a short person like me).

Having assembled the 2017 chair myself at home, I realized my chair at work was missing this small but vital piece, and I asked Fully if the part was available. Not only did they send me one, but they sent it so fast! It arrived in a couple of days.

If you are short, don’t miss out on using this piece with the footring! This is the best chair I have ever used and owned. It may be more expensive than the average chair, but if you value your back and the blood supply to your legs, you’ll thank yourself for spending the extra dollars.

Once you get a Capsico, you won’t want any other office chair. Hey, Fully, do you need a beta-tester? I’m available!.

Overall, I recommend this chair WITHOUT the optional headrest. I’m most impressed with the seat because it’s the right firmness; not too soft or hard. It’s feels durable like it can last many years and not bottom out (I weight 140-ish pounds).

The second most impressive part is the back with how vertically straighter it is compared to most ergonomic chairs that angles too far back. This chair is best for tasking, allowing to view the monitor in a straight horizontal line while sitting upright.

Aside from the first / second day of use with how rough the mesh was on my bare back skin, it’s now worn down to feel comfortable even while I’m sitting down shirtless. Third nice surprise is how the core frames that’s the foundation of the seat and the part that connects to the back seat are made of steel, allowing for a rigid built.

I would have complimented the armrests, but unfortunately the left and right arms are misaligned at all levels, with the left arm being half a notch lower than the right. I found this was due to the steel frame bar connecting the two armrests at the lower back of the chair was manufactured in such a way that it’s not uniformly curved (it has a slight smiley face shape).

It’s not obvious until I measured the height of the left & right sides to notice a difference and there’s nothing that the manufacturer could do to fix it. The armrests aren’t has hard as most office chair’s I’ve sat on before, but harder than I like.

It only slight hurts my elbows at certain specific positions, but otherwise it’s fine on my arms on all situations. The downside to the armrests are how easily they move laterally (left and right) when not intended to, especially since I’m use to moving the chair by the armrests, and now I have to hold by the top of the back to avoid accidental adjustments.

There should be a setting to lock or prevent them from moving them left & right. The biggest weakness of the chair, is rather the optional headrest that I ordered. It’s practically useless because of how forward it forces my head relative to the back.

Ideally, it should have been flushed and aligned with the back. This made feel dizzy/nauseating when sat with the headrest for a short of period of time. I tested the headrest at all levels and all angles within each level, but unfortunately it cannot prevent this problem.

The only possible workaround is a do-it-yourself where some object is placed between the back frame and the headrest screw hole to provide more spacing, but it would never be as solid.

So far, a great chair. Excellent adjustability, though it lacks seat inclination adjustment. Durability, maybe an issue if you recline a lot; the arms that connect the backrest to the seat are all plastic and that gives me some doubts.

I not only recline alot but sometimes snooze on it. Well, time will tell; so far it looks and feels solid.

Got this chair due to an extended (Covid-19) work from home arrangement. Works well so far, price / quality ratio is good. I’m not very picky about about my chairs. I’m average height (5’9″) and 185lbs with no back issues so I have no special requirements.

There’s a little wiggle to the arm rests, not irritating to me. Seat isn’t overly cushy but not uncomfortable, either. Plus I get up and walk around fairly often. Chair reclines a long way but doesn’t feel out of balance.

Assembly was made easier with an additional person to get the chair back into position. Total assembly time once out of the packaging was about 15 minutes. Overall, I’d give it 4 stars. Somewhat better than expected at this price but not OMG what a steal, which would have been 5 stars.

My company had the office refurbished pre covid, and I was fortunate to have been able to bring my chair home. I love the chair so much that now that the chair has been returned and I am still working from home 80% of the time I decided to buy myelf one that matched my colour scheme.

My body and my spine have never thanked me so much. These chairs are perfect for everyone, and they are suitable for over 8 hours of use every day. with the guarantee that comes with them from Herman Miller, how can you not buy one!!.

I do not know why this chair is getting such good reviews because this is the most uncomfortable chair I’ve ever sat in. Our company, a major bank, purchased new chairs for everyone in the building and did not bother to tell us we were getting new chairs.

The old ones were very comfortable. One day they were just gone and replaced with these awful Herman Miller chairs. They even took the backrest that I had attached to my original chair away with it. However that is irrelevant to this review.

The reasons why this chair is so uncomfortable is because of multiple problems. The arm rests do not go up and down. The chair will not tilt back. There is no padding for the seating area and having a luscious behind doesn’t make this chair comfortable – I can attest to that.

When you sit on this chair the seat is not flat, you sort of sink in a little bit (kinda reminds me of those awful foldable chairs with no support you would buy for camping) which makes it very painful for my hips.

I brought in a pillow from home to put on the chair and it seems to help a TINY bit but not enough to make my hips not hurt. I cannot adjust the seat depth to go from front to back, I can only make the very front edge roll (or more aptly put – curl) downwards towards the floor, this does not increase comfort as it digs into my calves.

The only chairs my company did not replace are in the conference rooms so I had to steal the chair from that location and swap it with the new Herman Miller one at my desk. It is still not as comfortable as my old chair but it’s better than this Herman Miller chair.

ANY chair would be more comfortable that this Herman Miller chair. No one I know in my company likes these chairs. I do not recommend this chair for anyone, especially somebody who has just had surgery or has orthopedic problems.

I can’t believe my company spent major $$$ for these non ergonomic chairs – what a waste of money.

I couldnt recommend this chair enough, especially to somone that spends alot of uninterupted time sitting at a desk. I used to suffer from terrible headaches and this chair cured them almost instantaneously.

The only real downside is the lumbar support adjustment – you cant really tell that much of a difference when you adjust it, so if your looking for alot of variance that might be a let down. But if youre just looking for basic lumbar support this is a pretty decent option.

I use this chair as my everyday home office chair. I’m a software engineer so I spend a lot of my time at a computer and I’ve found that with previous chairs I begin to get a sore lower back after around 3 hours.

In addition the foam padding on my previous seat wore down after 4 years of use. It’s not really visible, but you can certainly feel that the padding no longer provides the same level of comfort for extended use.

At work we use the Herman Miller Aeron chairs, and I’ve found those to be exceptionally comfortable. I spend 10 hours a day sitting in those chairs and they were certainly the best workplace chair I’d ever used.

With the recent shift to working from home I found myself working from my home office for those 10 hour per day shifts, and so needed a new chair. Rather than spend two to three hundred on an OK chair that might last a couple of years I decided to invest in a quality chair.

While looking into the Aeron’s I noticed the Embody and ultimately chose that based on: great reviews, better stying/color selection and I was also drawn to the “spine” back. I have to say after eight months I am VERY happy with my choice.

Sure it was expensive, but with a 12 year warranty I expect to get a LOT of use out of this chair. Working from home is likely to be common even after the pandemic has wound down, and in my line of work I expect to be working 2-3 days a week from home.

Given that, and the money saved from commuting I really believe spending big for an exception chair in an investment in my own well being. The chair back is great, I can stretch and recline and the chair back molds to mine.

The adjustable recline tension knob is also well conceived, allowing very fine grain control that let’s me recline in those scenario’s where I’m watching an online seminar/talk/conference. Since having the chair I haven’t experienced any of the minor back pain, and significant butt fatigue that I was suffering from my prior chair.

Five stars – worth every dollar.

Fabric: Sync Everglade – tight & soft knit, like a fave shirt. I know this is a well designed chair that will serve for years. But it sure is hard to cross-shop now, so I can’t say if a LeapV2 would be better for me.

I got this since for all the money, I would at least be getting a solid option. I went for all the shiny extras (irrelevant to ergo) since I was going to be stuck with it anyway. I’m WFH and our rocking/kneeling chair was great for motion but unsupportive & bad for computing.

I appreciate the HM vision & feel is an opinionated design to encourage healthy positions rather than the Gesture, whose pitch is to support you in “”any position. “” It looks good, moves easily. No distracting sounds, yes it sometimes makes trivial ones when you move.

I guess it’s comfortable, only when I get up do I realize how long I’ve been sitting. There’s certainly the option for motion in the chair, but I’m looking forward to my standing desk for variety. My tailbone is bony & sticks out, so it’s difficult to sit fully into low back of the chair.

I have max backfit to get all the lumbar support, but the base curve starts very low and I have to push my hips down & back into it to get the most support for the rest of my back. As I lean past the second recline level, I feel my spine arch off the back, and wish there was more support.

I may pick up a cheap mesh lumbar support and see if that helps. I already located my local HM dealer/svc center to get lift swapped to the low height range one. I’m 5″”7′ but even at the lowest height my knees have a greater than 90¬∫ angle, and I can feel strain if I work in a deep recline.

I also got cosmetic arm plugs in case I go armless. The arms do not go as low as my thighs. I have long arms and really want a low desktop as close to me as possible. (Sadly low-height was not an online option here.

I really should have emailed/chatted various places about pricing on a full-out special order. ) Fully Assembled costs the same, just do that.

Needed to upgrade my office chair to one that improves my posture and can be precisely adjusted to my body shape. This is the chair. It’s not easy to dial it in to meet your exact needs, and it takes some time to get used to and some fiddling, because it’s so unlike any chair you’ve probably used before.

It can also change your work posture for the better, which at first can seem less comfortable, but once your body gets used to it, you’ll know it’s better. How? Well, for me, all of my hip and back problems gradually disappeared after switching to this chair.

No more strained neck and shoulder muscles from incorrect positioning, and no more weird back strain from a seat back tension that you just cant get right. My only gripe with this chair is that the seat could use a bit more cushioning.

And Im sure Im not the only one to figure this out, because Herman Miller now makes a logitech cobrand version of this chair, which, as far as I can tell, the only major difference is that it is cushioned better for long hours at the gaming PC.

I can’t remember when I originally bought this chair but I know it was before my back surgery in Nov 2011. I’ve work from home and am opening an office in the city for training and group meetings. I am about to buy a duplicate chair for that office.

I have 2 plates, 6 screws, a cage and a cushion in my lower back due to breaking one of my vertebrates. This chair makes it possible to work the intensive 12 to 14 hours I typically work. I tried working in the other office without it and could only work about 4 hours and would still be in excruciating pain.

I love love this chair and, when I leave the office it is usually borrowed by my employees. For anyone working these long hours, with or without health issues this chair is worth the price. I highly recommend it!.

I bought the Herman Miller Embody chair as a home office chair – I generally spend 5-10+ hours per day in front of my desk, and was looking for a chair that was more comfortable than your run-of-the-mill Office Depot chair.

The chair is aesthetically very pleasing – a good mix of 60’s / 70’s color palette with modern design. The way that the backing supports your back, even when leaning back or forward is great and also in general seems to provide really good lumbar support.

I can see myself using this chair for the entirety+ of its 12 year warranty, it is that comfortable. Now the downside – I chose the Balance fabric as reviews indicated it likely would have provided the most cushioning.

Generally the fabric is comfortable, but if one sits on it with a pair of shorts, the texture makes it a little uncomfortable after a while and the fabric leaves indentations on your skin. If wearing long bottoms, no problems whatsoever.

The other downside is that it’s a cat magnet (just mine maybe?) – I’ve had all 3 of my cats attempt to use it as a scratch pad when I left the chair out, so need to make sure the chair is tucked under the table, and backrest is covered with a towel.

Overall a fantastic purchase, though, as I can tell that my lower back soreness is already starting to dissipate, and the health aspect is what I really purchased this chair for.

After a great deal of research, I purchased this chair to help with a neck injury I’d sustained from using a computer at work. The chair is admittedly a bit awkward at first, and takes a little to break in.

At first, it might seem you are getting poked by little plastic fingers through the thin fabric. However, once you get used to the chair and it breaks in, you can do no better. When leaning forward, the chair keeps your whole body forward, which is ideal.

The adjustable seat depth really shines here. When reclining, it is extremely comfortable and you can customize the level of recline at which it “”bottoms out””. I don’t really use the armrests. They’re a bit awkward for me (I’d prefer them a bit closer to my back, but they aren’t adjustable in that direction), and I generally just keep them at the lowest and furthest out position to keep them out of the way and minimize them getting scuffed on my desk (which does happen).

They are there when you want to use them, although pulling them up requires you to look at both armrests as you do so– there is no audible click per “”level”” as you pull them up, and they operate independently of one another.

My other ergonomic gripe is that I am 5’11″” and it is only *just* tall enough with the height maxed out (at least in the standard configuration). It is a unique and beautiful chair. If you get it in white, it will scuff and show dirt just as you’d imagine a white plastic chair to do.

I’ve had this chair for about 3 months now, and it’s okay, but for the price range I would expect it to be a lot better. I bought this chair because of the arm rest adjustments, and to be honest they’re totally bunk.

Mine basically slide left to right freely which is incredibly annoying. I wish they locked in front to back, as it takes a little more than a couple pounds of pressure to accidently move them. The cushion itself is hard, if not harsh.

Mine feels like it hasn’t broke in at all, and has very little give nor cushion. The lumbar support itself isn’t terrible, but the adjustment mechanism is. I’m constantly accidentally moving it while sliding into my chair, and having to readjust it – and I accidentally overshoot the top rung constantly while I do readjust it.

It could realistically move in 5 smaller increments and be a lot better. The headrest on the chair is a little narrow, and bumps my glasses if I look to the side while leaning back. The pros include the shape of the mesh back, which is actually relatively comfortable.

The spring tension on the lean function is very comfortable for me. I also find the base of the chair, while plastic, to be very nice and stable. I’m a shorter person at 5’6″, and the chair does fit me well by most accounts.

Overall it’s just okay. I’ll keep it, but if I could do it again I’d definitely spend the extra money for an Autonomous or a Steelcase.

I have really tried to make this chair comfortable. I have added aftermarket cushions to the arm rests that were so hard and a bit low. I really dislike that they do not move back when the back reclines a bit.

The lumbar support feels like it is on upsidedown. It protrudes far too much no matter how I adjust it. This chair is a work day torture device. I shocked how terrible this chair is. It sits a little bit off level too.

I expected it to be a good as the bike desk. I have really enjoyed bike desk a purchased the chair expecting the same satisfaction. This chair really missed the mark. Terrible and uncomfortable.

Basically, this chair smalls like chemicals– like someone spilled a gallon of nail polish remover on it. I have sprayed it with febreze, opened up windows to air it out– but every day it smells the same, sometimes worse if it’s hot out.

It’s been over a week and usually that “factory furniture smell” fades by now, but it hasn’t gone away. It gives me headaches so I’ve had to move the chair into another room and work on a stool to get things done.

It’s definitely coming from the seat cushion part of the chair. I asked in the “questions” section of this website if this was normal, how long will it take to fade, etc, but have not gotten a reply.

To me, it’s a very comfortable, attractive, and durable chair. I spend five or six hours a day at work in an Aeron chair and as many hours, albeit split up am/pm, at home on the Eurotech Ergohuman Leather Highback chair daily.

Both are comfortable, and while it’s no knock on an Aeron chair, by now it’s ubiquitous. The Ergohuman chair is well made, was easy to assemble, and hasn’t yet seemed to complain about the weight I put on it (240#) daily for over a year now.

The leather is very durable; not as supple or luxurious, perhaps, as the Spinneybeck leather on the HM Eames Aluminum Group Tall Back softpad chair it replaced at home, and while that’s a beautiful piece of design and an iconic piece of furniture, it’s not all that comfortable to sit on for a long time.

No wonder – it was designed for the US Pavilion at Brussels World’s Fair in 1958. The Eurotech/Ergohuman is a much more recent design incorporating many of the advances in ergonometric seating introduced in the past 60 or 70 years.

If the chair has one fault (and it’s the only one I’ve seen after a year) is the design of the arms. Raising them to adjust for height there are detentes, any one of which will work as a “stop” except for the last one; the one at the top which is the action most people make at first to determine the range of adjustment.

If you pull the armrest up to the top position where it stops, it won’t stay there but will instead fall. Instead, you have to sort of gingerly move it up, stop by stop, as far up as you want it to go until and unless that turns out to have been “too far.

” You learn how to do it, but you’ll always wonder if it couldn’t go up a bit more: sometimes it can and sometimes you raise it too much and have to start adjusting it all over again. Otherwise, it’s a great chair: no issues with construction or materials, nor with comfort and adjustability.

The one design flaw noted doesn’t detract much from what is otherwise a very well-designed and well-built product that I’ve enjoyed using for a while now. Given the durability and lack of problems, I expect to continue to do so for a good long time.

I purchased this chair about 5 years ago and saw that it is still made and sold. I work 80+ hour work weeks during tax season and needed a chair with excellent ergonomic support. This chair has exceeded my expectations.

It has incredible adjust-ability for the seat, arms, lumbar support and head rest. I am 5’10” 190 lbs, and this chair fits great. Seeing how the head rest and arms can be adjusted still a bit higher, I think it would even accommodate someone up to 6 feet tall – just depends on your torso length.

I have the leather version and it is incredibly comfortable. I would buy it again in a heart beat.

This seems like a very high quality chair. I had high hopes for it. I do think it would be an excellent chair if only it fit me. I am 6′ 3″, and the back did not raise nearly high enough for the lumbar support to hit my lumbar.

The neck support was also just not high enough. Many reviews indicated that it would be a good chair for someone my height. My guess is that it would fit the average 6′ 0″ person very well, and above that, maybe yes, maybe no.

I was tempted to keep this chair and do some custom modifications on it, in order to get the back to raise higher. I was not able to figure out anything that I thought would be successful, so I returned the chair.
