20 Best Chairs For Backs (2022 Updated)

I bought this chair in March of 22 to replace a chair that finally fell apart after many years. I bought this chair online and there were no problems with the packaging, everything was there. Now the issues.

Every hole to attach the seat and back were misaligned making it impossible to put it together. What should have been easy turned into a time consuming task of trying to straighten the holes out to get the thing assembled.

After yanking and pulling for 2 hours I managed to straighten them out as good as I could to attach the seat and back, though they’re all still mostly crooked. Even putting the rubber plugs in to the screw holes was a chore given that the screws were all crooked.

Well the chair is together for how long I don’t know so i put it my room and the disappointment continues. I sat down on it and felt like the Jolly Green Giant! I thought to myself this is a kids chair.

I’m 6 feet tall and no where near 250 pounds so this should have been ok but the seat is way short, maybe for someone 5 feet tall, and the back of it sits straight up, not comfortable at all. It’s kind of like sitting on a stool with a back on it.

It’s too late to return it, I won’t pay shipping charges either, so I guess I’ll start looking for a real chair.

This Chair is just what I needed! I was using a folding chair at my small desk, but I need more comfort and support. This chair exceeded my expectations! It is small yet has a good size seat for leg support.

The back has great support, I can work at my desk and be sitting back in my chair. The three position changing levers make it so you can customize this chair to what you need, height, lean of the back, and lean of the seat.

I can put the back where it is comfortable for how I sit, I am not leaning to find the back to rest on. I can adjust the seat so I feel my feet are properly on the floor, but not bunched up or reaching down.

And the seat adjustment I never understood until this chair. I can adjust where the pressure is being put and make sure it is even, between my boodle, and my thighs! Awesome chair, i would recommend and would buy again if I ever needed another one!.

I’m so excited about this chair. Working from Home, my old chair was not cutting it anymore. This chair is so much more comfortable and supportive for my larger body size. Be warned: this chair is HEAVY! I was able to assemble it all by myself, but it was heavy to connect the seat to the base! Once assembled, it was fun to play with all of the knobs and adjustments.

I still don’t know what two of them are for, and I can’t find any sort of indication of that online in my searches. The others all have pictures of what they’re for. I have to sit 8 hours a day and this chair has been a major game changer for me.

I can’t praise it enough!!!.

Sad to say I was replacing a previous chair of the same I’ve had for about 4 years. The previous chair started to tilt to the one side and didn’t sit up as high as it used to. One time also during the course of 4 years they replaced the gas lift as that too failed.

But this last problem with the chair permanently sitting at a tilt, was a FIRST, so we opted to get another chair of the same, since outside of those 2 issues it had been a comfortable chair and seemed well constructed other than that.

Now 4 years later and just putting together a replacement chair of the same, it is obvious the quality is more subpar. The weight of the chair itself feels lighter than before, I pushed both the old chair and the new one, side by side and there was a noticeable difference, even in lifting up each of the chairs as far as weight.

However the two other factors concern the bonded leather which is definitely MUCH thinner than my previous chair, and like what you see on the more cheaply constructed chairs for like $59-$100. Also the padding for the back part of chair and the very top is horrible, like they forgot to stuff and fill it in more.

I’d forgotten this chair came with a 10 year limited warranty. Had I known the chair was going to be more cheaply constructed this time around I’d have opted to have them just replace the seat plate mechanism that appears to be the reason the previous chair began to tilt to the one side.

I only realize that now because upon turning the old chair over today, you could plainly see that is what happened. A part of it had broken. However the weight limit of the person sitting on the chair did not exceed the amount stated for the number of hours per week.

So I am quite disappointed in the Sealy brand based on the quality of this chair. Don’t think I would be able to recommend it this time around. Especially given the price tag.

I purchased this chair and initially it was comfortable but over time it has required four replacement gas lifts and seat plates. The arm leather has cracked and flaked. The chair needs repair when it leans to one side or the other and the seat plates crack and then when ever you move in the chair it makes a terrible noise.

Now I purchased this chair because of the weight limits, and the warranty, but I did not get my money’s worth. Every time they sent replacement parts they sent either Lazy boy, broyhill or generic seat lifts.

True designs makes all three of these brands. They claim higher weight limits for each brand or model. The last time, today they (2-7-2018) they sent Generic parts and the gas lift is far too short for the chair.

I am 6’2″ and when I sit in the chair it is most uncomfortable. I called True designs again, and asked for the correct gas lift, the problem with this is that while the one they sent me is shorter than the one it is replacing they claimed that they sent the right part and the parts are not marked with model numbers as they are interchangeable between chairs and the manual does not list part numbers for the chair.

I was told this time they would send me a new longer gas lift, but that next time I would have to replace it. But this raises another problem. You cannot separate the gas lift from the seat plate, and they will not send another seat plate with the longer gas lift.

If I had to do it over again, I would not purchase any chair made by True Designs. Each time I have purchased one of their chairs they break down within the first 10 -12 months. even the more expensive chairs break down quickly.

I suspect its because they all use the same poor quality parts. and make no mistake it is always the seat plate that cracks and causes the chair to lean. I am so tired of True Designs telling me that a chair with a 10 year warranty should break down every 10 -12 months.

First I’m big. I’m 6’3″ and 300lbs and I’m old and I’m a disabled veteran and not rich. I have been looking for a chair for a long time. The chair needed to be 1 high enough chair seat to the floor at least 19 inches high 2 wide enough for me and my girth 3 comfortable to sit in for hours 4 capable to handle my 300 lbs and not to much money.

There’s another chair like this one that has a USB massage features that is $25 more $209 compared to $175 I choose this one. This chair is not the greatest chair in the world however it’s high enough wide enough comfortable and affordable for me.

I have bad knees and it’s hard for me to get out of a chair that is too low. For me this chair is comfortable enough to sit in so as I am not in pain sitting in for long periods. For me it’s too much of a gamble to pay $500 for a chair this is the chair I use for my computer it’s not a recliner.

It’s not a Egyptian chair that I will be in my tomb I expect it to last for at least a year it’s not a chair that I would sleep in or a beautiful chair it’s an office chair good for using at the computer for a man my size and after such a long time I am content with it.

It was easy to put together in about a half hour I hope I have helped you decide. I buy from Walmart because it is easier for me to return items. Good hunting!.

Go this about a year ago. Very poor quality. The chair is sorely lacking in ergonomic design. The padding compressed badly and became VERY uncomfortable. Also, the screws fall out of the armrests and metal is shearing off where the gas cylinder connects to the lower seat cushion.

I wanted so badly a chair like this within my budget and extremley comfortable. I can strech my back and feel so good. I wanted two months to write this review to make sure I was still loving it. I have Fibromyalgia and this chair is worth every penny.

I bought 4 of these chairs for our game table. They look amazing and match my game table. They are wonderful, well-built chairs that are easy to assemble. The manufacturer even added extra screws and everything was prepackaged for easy assembly and access.

I am 65 and I was able to assemble 4 chairs in approximately 2 hours. I like the ergonomics of the chairs, the mobility, and the levers to adjust the height as well as the option to use or not use the armrests.

I recommend this product for multi-purposes, for it’s quality, easy assembly, easy access, and great packaging. I would buy it again!.

I gave it 4/5 because chair is kind of leaning to the back when at rest makes you feel like you ll fall if you lean much backward. I prefer if the back rest was a lill narrower since the chair is not that big.

Also, it has too many legs which takes more space makes it hard to move around. Over all, chair seems to be of a good quality but dont kw for how long though.

Nice chair. Love that it has a small profile. Love that I can raise the arms out of the way. Worth the money. Easy to assemble. I would buy again. Very satisfied.

Nice chair with some drawbacks. It doesn’t tilt back hardly. People who are at 5’10”+\- an inch would probably fit a best in it. The arms swivel back to be out of the way when needed which I wanted for guitar playing but are too narrow for forearms but the material feels more like rough carpet and takes awhile to break in and feel ok but long periods with elbow on it is similar to carpet burn.

Too small for arm rests when typing. If under 5’9” and for home, it would best be paired with a raised foot rest of some sort. I wish it tilted back a little more still because the head rest seems pointless and unusable.

For long periods it does feel good. I have only averaged five hours daily in it and it has helped my back tremendously and the mesh material helps keep my back cool. I thought about returning but it was difficult getting it together and the boxes are hard to put back together and wasn’t sure if it needed more break in time.

Don’t tighten the screws all the way until you fitted all them in, even half way in proved difficult. Once tightened it is sturdy. The only major complaint it suffers the same issue that all office chairs have and it’s when the one to three inches it does tilt makes a thump or loud click noise.

I wish I knew why office chairs did this. So annoying especially when recording with vocals. I thought the tightening screw underneath was for tilt but it does nothing.

The chair base, wheels, pneumatic cylinder are all good. Though I wish the chair’s base were all black and not chrome as that shows finger/foot printers very well. The seat itself is quite firm and not very cushy if you’re looking for that.

And the material is a scratchy mesh fabric over some foam so it’s not soft on skin if you sit without any pants. I can sit cross legged, under legged, etc. in many positions comfortably. Do note that there will be fabric imprints on your skin from sitting like that though.

The seat is a great size, not too small/big and you don’t slip out of the seat. And it’s breathable. The mesh back is sufficient and is also breathable. The lumbar support is based on the shape of the chair and mesh so it’s not adjustable but it’s perfectly fine for me.

The mesh is not very tight and has some give. Unknown how long it will last. I will note that if I recline back, the back is not tall enough so the hard frame hits below my shoulder blades which is very uncomfortable (I’m like 5’11”).

The armrests are not very good though apart from being able to flip them out of the way. They aren’t adjustable otherwise. They sit far too low and could be 3-4 inches higher. The padding and material is the same as the seat, scratchy on skin (fine with that for my arms though).

The build quality of them is also quite poor as the left armrest squeaks when a rest my elbow on it. You can also feel the screw below the padding on the left armrest. The padding is attached by 2 screws so the middle has some give if you pull on it.

It may break off if you do that too much. Also you get the same imprints on your skin. The head rest build quality is also quite poor. There’s a lot of give so it moves/shakes slightly when you use it.

It goes up and down, tilts, but not forwards/backwards. The tilting of the headrest works on a ratcheting system and you can accidentally move it too easily with your head. Personally it’s still a bit too short for me and not forward enough.

Onto the chair’s overall features: it has basic recline and tilt lock as expected for a cheap chair. No large squeaks when reclining but I do think you can’t recline that far back. My legs do lift up from the heel slightly when reclining even on the lowest setting which puts pressure on your thighs.

I do quite like the lumbar however and I sit all the way to the back of the chair just fine. For only a 2 year warranty (1 year only for the fabric) and the price for the chair, I would not recommend it for taller people (>5’10”).

Maybe for shorter people it’s better. Overall the chair is a meh 5/10.

I’ve gone through a lot of mid-priced chairs, looking for one that could handle all this schexy. I was very hopeful that this chair would live up to its marketing. Nope. I could maybe understand the foam seat cushion being defeated if I were close to the 500 lb duty rating, but I’m not.

It handled my economy-sized butt for the first 3 months, but then I began to notice the cushion began to lose its cush. I’m just over the 5-month mark, and I can feel the metal base plate and the curvature of the cushion if I’ve moved positions after sitting a while.

I work a lot of hours, so the need for a comfortable chair is paramount for me. This chair just isn’t cutting it. (I suspect the foam is heat sensitive, which makes it break down more quickly. ) I think it’s a well-designed chair with good materials EXCEPT FOR THE CUSHION.

I would have expected that this chair could’ve lasted me 10 years when I first used it. Sadly, at 5 months out, I’m already considering different options. I plan to reach out to the vendor first to give them an opportunity to make it right.

I’m short, so I would’ve made it 2 inches lower so my feet naturally touch the floor and the armrests would fit under a standard height desk. Note: I removed the cheap wheels and put on the rollerblading wheels you can get on Amazon and that improved the glide and substantive feel of the chair noticeably.

This chair is good quality for a good price. First off, shipping was super quick and I appreciate that. I had ordered a chair from another vendor, and it took sooo long to be shipped and I had to cancel the order.

So glad I did, as I found this chair. Second, it was super easy to assemble for a single woman like me, who is not well versed in fixing things. The instructions were very easy to read, and there is a short video too with instructions on assembling the chair.

It was an easy and quick assembly. Once the chair was all ready, it is comfortable, provides great lumbar support, reclines and the arms fold up.

We got this chair on 9/04/2021. And 69 days later, the chair drops when you sit in it. We paid $19. 99 for the chair and $40 for shipping. Shipping was high, but an office chair for $60 was a deal. Well, you get what you pay for.

Spend the extra money on a better quality chair!.

Strong metal frame chair. Nice quality mesh. Adjustable height works really well. Should last for years. Scale is smaller for a swivel chair, which is exactly what we were looking for our home office.

Not bulky, and not take up lot of space. Especially the base with the wheels dimension, smaller scale. Arrived as scheduled, and packaged very well. Assembly didn’t take long. Extra parts were included, which is very surprising at this price point.

Overall very satisfied. Highly recommend. We just needed to add a seat cushion for more comfort personally. Excellent value for a quality product.

This functions quite well as a reasonable office chair. So far has been comfortable to sit in for long hours and works very well for the limited office space I have. I will say that it is smaller than what may be average, but that was what I was specifically after as I am a small person with a small space.

I had seen complaints about the assembly for the chair, and it was indeed kind of a hassle. This is definitely something that you’ll want a friend or two to help with; not because it’s complicated, but the pieces take a good effort to get positioned and secured in place.

Overall, it has fulfilled my expectations and been worth the price.

Greatly comfortable easy to assemble reasonable price BUT, I don’t know the reason but the cushion of this chair really X1000 smells bad. It was stinky when it first arrived, and after 3 months, it still is.

I tried to dry under sunlight, use perfume, and wash with the detergent. But none of these ever worked. Actually washing made it more smelly. The smell is somewhat like the wet sneakers of an athlete.

I don’t recommend someone sensitive to odor. I am going to purchase another chair, without any cushion.

The young man that I ordered the chair for needed one that comfortably held more than 250 lbs. This one holds up to 425 or 450 lbs. Great purchase.

This chair looks very nice. I have to sit way back in order to get back support. More comfortable then 3 other chairs I ordered recently. Doesn’t adjust very high. My table is higher and the chair is a little too low.

It has a few defects and and dirty spots. They are out of stock right now so I have to wait for a replacement.
