20 Best Chalk Spray Paint (2022 Updated)

My daughter picked out some wooden letters from Michael’s to spell her daughter’s name and ask me if I could spray paint them for her. So I purchase this to spray paint and when I tell you that I am super please with the outcome! After the letters dried they look so smooth and silky I actually went back to Michael’s to purchase more letters for my other Granddaughter I can’t wait to paint her name as well.

I have purchased the brand of spray paint for my canvas painting their gloss spray paint! I will note that I did this in my garage and I used a face mask for the fumes and left the letters in there a few days it was great the weather back here is in the 20’s and my garage is probably colder than that.

Montana ChalkSpray is a SuperFund site in a can. Just try opening a can indoors and you’ll see what I mean. The instructions say, “Some chalk dust will be created when spraying. ” What it should say is, “Greasy, streaky colored chalk dust will cover every surface within 20 feet of using the product, and some of it will also be where you sprayed it.

” The instructions for cleaning say, “Scrub vigorously with a brush and water”, but they don’t tell you that any cleaning cloth or brush simply spreads a greasy streak of the chalk wherever you move the brush.

So a tiny cleanup turns into an hours-long nightmare. I spent the better part of a day on hands and knees trying to get the chalk out of every nook and cranny of the area, after putting up a tiny stencil that took just minutes to spray.

So it must be okay for outdoor use, right? Well, sure, as long as it’s only on glass and nobody ever touches it. If you put this on concrete or paved surfaces where people or animals walk, you’re committing a heinous crime–it’s tracked everywhere and gets into cars and homes; this stuff travels *miles* once it’s laid down.

I would let a 2-year old run wild in my house with cans of Montana 94 black in both hands before popping the top on SprayChalk again. If *you* happen to be holding a can right now, get yourself to a SpaceX launch station immediately and get that can into low-earth orbit, or deep-well inject it, or sink it to the bottom of the Marianas trench.

It’s not too late.

I have a can of Chalk paint by Montana. It says 94 on it. I think there must be two kinds of paint, one being temporary? This one is not temporary. It’s a lot of bang for your buck compared to the other brands I’ve used, probably goes farther than any can of paint I have ever used.

It dries almost immediately, too, but I am in Phoenix, Arizona, so I can’t speak for other climates. You can just see it drying though. It goes on so smoothe, the low pressure, and the surface is gorgeous, powdery.

I cannot yet attest to it’s durability as a permanent paint. I sprayed some old porcelin dolls for a project I am doing, with the Rojo, Red. It was probably the least messy paint I’ve ever used. I set up a table with newspaper on it, outside.

There was a breeze, yet the cap directed into the cracks on the dolls face, etc. without pooling up. I just can believe how good it went. I stopped and started and just wiped the cap with a paper towel, but it was barely dirty compared to a lot of caps.

Just all around, very high technology in a paint can. I personally would not spray the street with it, and the can I have looks different than this picture.

I used this to mark the 40 foot line at my Polling place last election. I can’t use paint and the non permanent chalk spray was perfect. At first I thought the can didn’t work, but a call to Blick solved my problem.

There was a washer to prevent the chalk from spraying in transport. Once they told me what to do we were in business. The spray was way easier than using chalk which needs to be reapplied often. The chalk spray lasted the 13 hours our polls were open.

Additionally, this product was hard to find. I’m glad Blick carried the spray chalk in blue.

I stopped by the West L. A. Blick and saw a nice display using this product. I picked up a few cans to test out and yeah, I fell in love with it. I went back and picked up all the colors and used them to do some advertising art work on windows.

They spray just like Montana Black. The colors remain vibrant after drying. And after a few days, all you have to do is wipe the chalk off. I would definitely recommend this to product.

Beautiful bright colors! Lasts on street a good long time- but runs out of can quickly. I would still buy it again because I think it is the best out there. #sweepstakes

Love this product! It took me a few coats to get full coverage and I noticed there was a weird sheen to part of my board, but after I read the instructions it says to cover the whole board in chalk and then dry wipe it clean.

Once I did that I was good to go, the project came out great and the chalkboard worked exactly as expected.

This product is the coolest thing I believe I have ever seen. I purchased the for my son’s bedroom wall because he loves to play with chalk and chalkboards he was so fascinated by it and honestly so was I lol I’ve never seen anything like it.

It came out so smooth and went on evenly I highly suggest this product if you or someone you knows love to doddle with chalk because you could turn anything you want into a chalkboard say that isn’t cool to you?.

My kids love using a chalk board! They always have! I saw this product on our favorite auction site and decided I would give it a try for my kids. It works great! They are having a great time with it! It is simple to use.

Just clean the wall or item that you want to use as a chalkboard, make sure it is dry and clean, apply it, let it dry thoroughly and let your kids have at it! They will have a blast! Great Product For Just A Little Money!.

This product worked fine. The color was good, but the coverage was thin. The spray nozzle worked consistently but did clog and spew. The lid was very hard to open. Probably will not use again or if I do I will choose a smaller project, like a frame, verses a piece of furniture, which is what I was painting for this project.

This product covers beautifully and is so smooth!!! It is very hard to find but so much better than Rustoleum Spray Chalk Paint which is very watery. The only drawback is that it does not cover larger pieces very well.

I was going to paint a 4 foot tall 2. 5 foot wide Hallway Bookshelf but gave up after the first 2 cans. I feel it would have taken 4-5 cans to finish. To be fair I was doing a drastic color swap from Cherry wood to Parisian Gray.

I have used the Purple/Blue color in this line for a Wooden Jewelry Box, a toy washer and many other projects that were much smaller in size. This will be my go-to if I am working on smaller DIY projects.

I was very happy with this spray paint. The color was a perfect match to the lid, no surprises. The chalky finish wasn’t a concern for me because this was a base coat for a project. If you don’t want a chalky finish, I suggest finding another color because the paint will leave exactly what is advertises, “a chalky finish.

” Other than that, it is easy to use, sprays well, and dries fast. Very happy with this!.

Krylon Chalk spray paint in color “waterfall” is a perfect, easy to apply spray furniture. I did 3 chairs, a trunk and one small table. It sprays on like ‘magic’ and looks perfect first coat. Because of the changing of paint styles, it was hard to find when I ran out but I found it at dickblick.

The smell of this paint has made me and my family very sick. It is strong and does not diminish over time. Instant headache and sick to my stomach. Also, the paint comes out in clumps. I used it 5 days ago and the object I painted still has not dried.

I am throwing the project out, as the smell has rendered it useless and it won’t dry. Unfortunate.

Coats evenly and the color comes out as the cap color of the can. Has a chalky finish with no glare. Perfect for wedding DIYs! I used it to spray paint vases and covered the vase entirely and the colors under didn’t show at all! Just make sure not to spray too close or keep the spray nosel hoovering over the same area too long or the paint will run.

I searched and searched for reviews on this product, all I found were good. So I bought it! Unfortunately this is not to be used for heavy duty projects. Maybe arts and crafts. I bought this to redo my sons train table and have one side be a “chalkboard” when you flip the boards over and the other side for the train stuff.

Well, nope. I followed directions to a “T” and waited 24 hours, and even added another 2 coats and waited another 24 hours. I was able to LIGHTLY run my nail across and scratch the paint right off, after endless coats and sweat and tears I gave up.

He is two, he won’t fret over a detail like I would. So I sent it into his room, sadly even writing with chalk scratches the paint right off!!!!!!! I used the last of it on a craft I have been wanting to do, that sits on a shelf (that no one touches) and it looks great.

But for other items, no, not at all.

I bought two cans for a toy shelf project. I realized I needed more and bought Krylon brand for the second coat. Krylon brand chalkboard paint was 100% better than the Rust-Oleum Brand. The Rust-Oleum was hard to spray, ran easier and cover less ground.

Krylon was MUCH easier to spray and performed much better! Hopefully this helps someone for their project. Buy the Krylon brand!.

Love this stuff! I used it on a metal file cabinet I had that I wanted to have double as a small chalkboard for young kids. Spray was nice and even and the chalk wipes off easily. I’d definitely buy this again.

The colour was better than expected. it was lovely and bright and once you developed a technique it went on really evenly. It actually stayed on outside despite torrential rain for longer than we thought which was amazing! It came off our hands and faces no problem! Definitely recommend it!.

I needed to refinish my cheap plastic framed mirror to match my new bedroom scheme and opted to refinish rather then buy a new one. I ended up buying Behr white spray paint in matte (could not find it on this site).

The end result was amazing and the product was easy to use but the smell was far worse then any spray paint I have ever used, it was like someone had spilled hundreds of bottles of nail polish in the room.

Another issue was the price was twice that of Rustolium matte spray paint and results are very similar. Behr was better but not enough to really justify double the price. It is still a great product with beautiful end results.

About a month ago I purchased BEHR spray chalk paint. Needed to 2 table bases, quick furniture flip for a customer, the covid19 cleared the shelves of paint and there was 1 can of Behr in Noir. I own a furniture painting business and honestly have painted probably 300 pieces with chalk paints.

I was not familiar with this product, this was the first I had seen it. It was amazing!!! Spray was smooth, coverage solid, even, color deep and rich. One coat was all it took, coverage was consistent and results smooth matte.

Very elegant visually. My pieces painted in BEHR are flying out of my garagd.

A wonderful color selection but a bit pricey because I needed quite a few cans for my project. If I were only buying one or two this brand would be a great choice.

I use these paints to block in large areas of color.
