Even though this model is not supposed to work with Linux (the L model does), there are drivers for most Linux distros, including openSuse leap – which is what I’m using. So it was easy to have it up and running pretty fast.

On the website, they want you to prove you bought the adapter in order to download the Linux driver. A weird decision, since the Windows and Mac drivers are free to download. For the most part it is built well.

The only “issue” I have is the adapter USB slot at the base. It is a little flimsy – there is some play, but since I don’t move it, it is fine. If you connect it directly to your computer without the extension cable, it will be just as fine.

It is USB 3, which means faster data transfers. So far I have played online games with no issues, downloads are fast and without interruptions. Because of the double antennas, it’s profile is bigger, but it gives you the option to sort of “hide” it, locate it behind the monitor without losing signal.

My desktop was connected to the internet using a mains link. Because of mains noise (Devon!), the connection dropped many times each day. I experimented with a cheap USB WiFi adaptor to see if this would work through a floor and a wall – it did function, but sometimes didn’t start successfully and still occasionally dropped the connection.

I bought this devise as a more viable long term solution. It was straightforward to install and set up, and it has worked reliably thereafter. I understand the Realtek chipset is industry standard, so I updated the Realtek firmware successfully.

I now have a reliable, fast and secure internet connection to my desktop, at a reasonable price. Excellent.

Not reliable. 1. Can’t get the AC 5GHz to work on linux, so had to keep dropping to 2.4GHz mode. 2. Keeps dropping connections. No go.

Generally, I’m not about using wifi in my home with full PCs, but I have one special edge case. For my peripheral testing, I’ve set up a skeleton case PC that USUALLY is on a workbench, but occasionally travels around the house.

When mobile, I connect to my LAN with wifi (a bunch of Ubiquiti 802. 11ac APs throughout the home). I had been using an Edimax Nano USB wireless NIC. it’s awful, but it’s all I had laying around. It was time for a change, so I got a TP-Link AC1200 PCIe Wireless Wifi PCIe Card.

As you’d expect, there’s virtually nothing to set up. I installed the card in a Z370 motherboard with no issues (though it shouldn’t matter what board it goes in). Usage in Windows 10 and BSD was uneventful.

I achieved a link speed in excess of 1Gbit/s (a new one for me), but the AP is fed with 1 Gbit/s, so it wasn’t surprising when Chariot returned ~880 Mbit/s. The antenna setup appears to work well, but it’s possibly the only weak point.

The mini-SMA antennas being mounted to the card bracket is perfect for me (since I need to easily carry around the testbed), but fixed desktop users may get better performance with one of the cards with the remote antenna assemblies (that way it’s not hanging out behind your metal case, around all of your metal cables).

Recommended.

This is the kind of product that requires a *TINY* bit of knowledge to install and configure, so naturally there are a ton of negative reviews on Home Essentials Direct because people don’t know what they’re doing.

Old versions of windows 10 had issues with this card – this has since been fixed. So if you have a newer build of windows 10 (1809 or newer) you just plug it in and it works. No driver install, you don’t need the disc, windows 10 already has the driver for it out of the box and it works great.

Been using it for a week without a single problem. I bought this because I got fiber and wanted to take advantage of it. I can download at 45MB/s (megabytes, not megabits. ) which is the same speed I get on LAN.

Connections are rock solid for large downloads (downloaded over 200GB on it so far without a hiccup) and pings when gaming are within 1-2ms of my PC on LAN when playing competitive games and shooters.

Not sure what all the complainers are talking about, because this card is perfect. Easy to install, speeds are high, and it works great for gaming. VERY happy with the purchase!!.

Very impressed, no software install needed under windows 10, windows does it all by itself automatically on startup. very simple to install and delivers. 5G speeds are brilliant. now considering buying one these for my other two computers and get rid of that messy cable.

This is a pretty average access point. It works mostly, as long as you have quite simple expectations. The web UI has a lot of bugs that make features unavailable for no good reason. For example, in AP mode you can’t supply your own HTTPS certificate because the section of the config is hidden.

Luckily if you manually enter the correct URL then you can get it to it. I found you can’t operate a WPA2 PSK on 2. 5 GHz and WPA 2 enterprise on 5 GHz, again due to a UI bug. The tech support is as unhelpful as ever, only reading about the first 10 words of the problem, asking redundant questions and just resorting to asking you to factory reset, which if course, doesn’t help.

Again, I worked out if you “view source” and manually add the rectory option to a drop down it will save and work, so it’s not a technical limitation. Some features don’t really work. Pinning a device to a specific node doesn’t work.

Optimisation is basically useless. I thought this would improve my connection stability but it’s made it worse. My Oculus Quest 2 now randomly disconnects because it’s jumping to a node on the other side of the house, even though it’s right next to one.

Connection is worse than the rubbish slingshot router. I don’t know if this is a problem typical with mesh in general, or ASUS in particular. The first ASUS router I bought 15 years ago was a bit of rebadged trash, and I’m not really sure things have improved.

Not worth the money, buy TP link or netgear.

Works very well. I bought this to replace an r86u router that served me well and am an Asus router fan. Main draw for me of this system was that each unit runs off of 12v and not 18v like my older asus routers.

I have a barn that is down a fairly steep hill and does not have mains power. I do have a solar panel and 2 x 100 amp hour 12v deep cycle batteries to power 12v lighting and recharge my cordless tools.

With this router I was able to fashion a connector directly to my 12v system and thus am able to run the mesh unit without needing an inverter. Only draws about 3 watts when idle which means my battery can run it for about 400 hours without requiring any solar charging.

Speed in the barn isn’t great. I only get about 20 Mbps as the signal is weak. This is well over 100 ft down a hill with numerous trees in the way not to mention two sets of exterior walls. However it has no problems supporting the 4 blink wireless cameras I installed to make sure nobody steals my tractor or tools.

Works very well. In the house the speeds are limited by my cable modem but I get 300 mpbs easily. Anyways if you have an off-grid structure with battery and solar panel this can be a good way to extend wifi coverage.

Can highly recommend this. Read Dongknows for a full review he is spot on. Upgraded from a netgear nighthawk and the difference is awesome. Distance is better plus the combined 2. 4 and 5ghz is handy.

the software is night and day as well, asus is a massive setup over netgears. Setup was extremely easy BUT when completed make sure to check for upgrades, i had to manually trigger the firmware upgrade.

I was also able to get rid of my TPG router. Just plug the ASUS XD6 directly to the NBN coaxial modem into the WAN port. Then during setup find the TPG profile and select this. When you are finished it wont work but log onto the XD6 find the wan settings, set as PPPoE, then enter your TPG connection username and password and you should be good to go.

So far speeds are way more consistant, the UI is gives an excellent overview of whos connected plus strength, really couldn’t be happier.

The Intel 9560 WiFi card plugs into the M. 2 slot on your motherboard. I am using it with the Dell Optiplex 3160 PC. I purchased some external antennas with 30cm cables that have MHF4 IPEX connectors.

The throughput has been 400 Mb/S, and I am very pleased.

Unable to get MHF4 antenna to connect, tried several. Antenna connects just fine to original wifi card.

Most consumers don’t realize these devices use the same channel as the main router to run in AiMesh mode. This is normal with Wifi; however, even with an ethernet backhaul you can’t manually change the device channel.

I get about 250mbps up and down throughput with no interference in AiMesh mode. In access point mode I get around 700mbps up and down. Since AiMesh mode is garbage even in 9/2022 (until they release firmware to allow ethernet backhaul users to separate extender channels) I would pass on this and just get a cheaper access point that will perform the same.

Set up to operate as a Wi-Fi extender, using 5Ghz band for link to primary system. Has clients only in 2. 4GHz band and does what’s required of it very well. Liked the use of WiFi6 standards, including availability of WPA3 security.

Upstream device is ASUS mesh system so this could have been included in the mash, but application called for separate network IDs to provide flexibility required. Ethernet backhaul possible but not used in this case, or tested either.

If plugged into a plug box, width probably requires bigger space between devices than standard plug boxes allow, but HPM has one the suits perfectly :-).

I bought this a couple of months ago and for the most part I’m pleased with it. I keep it hooked up to my home router all the time and have never used it for a mobile router. I did take it out in my yard once and saw speeds over 200 Mbps more than once.

It’s not unusual to see speeds of 130 Mbps inside my home and that’s a lot better than DSL which was 6 Mbps. The only issue I have with the MR5200 is that it will drop 5G and change to 4G. I can understand it doing that if 5G is not available but if 5G is available it should reconnect to 5G on it’s on but it doesn’t.

I can reboot the M5 or turn the power off and then back on and it will reconnect to 5G. It’ll do this most every day. I ended up putting the power supply on a timer and set it to power off at 5:00 a.

m. and power back on at 5:01 a. m. but that still doesn’t take care of this issue all the time. It being a 5G router it should always be connected to 5G if it’s available.

This Hotspot is by far the best in the industry. It was easy to set up and understand the instructions (I only had to read the 1st page ). Right after putting in SIM card from my carrier ,I was up and running.

I’m able to get from 288Mbps (during high traffic from the carrier ) to 675Mbps in the evening and around 800 later at night. This Hotspot is very powerful,easy to use and reliable. It is a bit pricey but it is the only one of its kind and the same type from carriers are priced about the same but you get stuck in a contract.

We’re also in an inflation bubble right now so everything is costing a lot more. If you are thinking about buying a Hotspot and are thinking about buying one, just do it and stop thinking about it. This guy can do a lot of things and make it easy to get the internet wherever you go.

This is hands down the most fully-featured mobile LTE/5G router I’ve ever used, but in my opinion where it shines the most is not in mobile uses, but rather as a backup (or potentially even primary) network connection for home internet.

Thanks to its offboarding and “Always On Wifi” functionality its possible to set this up as a backup and only use your LTE or 5g connection when your primary connection fails. The inclusion of an Ethernet port on this router is a game changer allowing it to be used for home networking in rural areas where wired home internet might not be an option.

The stability has been great, and the interface is powerful and intuitive. I would happily recommend this router to anyone on the market for a 5G router.

This was installed in a 3 story home with 6 TVs majority connected to wireless DirecTV boxes, two computers, a printer, and 2 cell phones in all connected to Wi-Fi. I have to say I am impressed with the ability it has in combination with a single Wi-Fi mesh extender plug-in to handle the Wi-Fi demand throughout my parents household.

When they state they can handle a certain amount of devices with no issues this is true in this scenario even when I visit, which adds more to the mix. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone struggling with connection issues or limited to where they can place their internet equipment.

Also, installing the extender I found the best if working from home office not located near your internet modem, as this increases your connect signal for all home office devices. It was a fairly easy set up and the app I found to be useful as my parents are not savvy with this stuff so I can monitor and try fixing their issues via the app saving me a trip to their house.

Waited to review this item as time would tell quality wise and it is still working just as well as day 1.

Although my house isn’t large, the layout is not helpful to a typical WiFi layout. I had a typical Verizon Gateway WiFi router in the basement where all the network connections are made and an access point on the other end of the house.

This gave pretty good coverage but often moving from one side of the house to the other caused a drop in coverage since the connected WiFi boxes didn’t do a clean handoff and would cause a device to freeze.

More devices on the network caused more issues. I had looked at a few of the solutions and noticed that the Asus ZenWiFi AC had a few really nice features. The main one was multiple hardwire WAN ports and the ability to hardwire the back haul.

I built the house 20+ years ago and had the foresight to add LAN connections to the bedrooms so the ability to use one of these connections for going back to the main router and leaving the wireless signal for devices was great.

Also the additional WAN ports allowed me to hardwire up to 3 devices directly to the satellite and this would act as a 1GB switch; perfect. The 3rd thing I liked was that the 2 boxes were identical meaning that the brains of the units were the same so the satellite unit has the same router processing as the main router unit.

Because I have Verizon FiOS there is a need to keep the original Verizon supplied router for the TV to work. This is a simple fix by making the main Asus box an access point and just plugging it into the FIOS router.

This simple connection method allows all my wireless devices to seamlessly connect to any hardwired machine. Overall I couldn’t be happier. I got really strong signals across the house, upload and download speed tests on my phone show connections close to the actual hardwired speeds, and setup is simple.

I’ve had this unit for about 3 weeks and no problems at all.

I found that the ZenWifi AC3000 dual router system was fairly easy to set up. After updating to the most recent firmware I set about trying to find the best location for the Node unit. There was a bit of a learning curve on how to use the WEB GUI (ASUSWRT) but managed to figure it out.

My only beef is that when you bind a client to either the Home base or the Node Unit they should stay bonded to your choice. After all the reason for this choice had to do with the location and strength of the wifi signal each client has.

It’s been about 3 weeks since I set it up and the router seems to have stabilized and any issues with binding clients to a location seems to have gone away. This is my third Asus Router. I decided to go with the ZenWifi AC3000 (CT8) over adding another router to mesh with my RT-AC1900P and so far am quite satisfied with my choice.

By posting this review I will be eligible for a 90 day warranty extension.

Everything I had hoped for in a mesh system! Spoiler alert. I am absolutely in love with this system. I was at first unsure about the whole “mesh WiFi ” idea, and I had tried a couple of systems that didn’t live up to my expectations and was about to go back to my trusty AirPort Extreme when I happened to come across the ASUS ZenWiFi CT8 whole-home mesh wifi system.

Now I will admit it was purely the design of these things that I fell in love with first, followed by its impressive list of features and some pretty impressive specifications. Just looking at the box this system comes in, you just know you’re getting a quality item inside.

The box itself is simply gorgeous. I’d actually be sad to throw it away. Inside, I was greeted by two identical routers, well-protected in form-fitted egg crate packaging. Interestingly there was no manual included, and none could be found online either, although the interface is familiar if you know Asus routers and their awesome User-friendly firmware.

The power adapters are very small and light, and resemble iPad chargers. The Velcro strap that’s on the power cable to keep it tidy is a nice touch. These routers are gorgeous. I really love the look of the sleek black finish with the brushed-metal texture.

Picking one of the units up, I was impressed with the weight of it. Shining a light inside the vents I could see some substantial metal heatsinks inside, which gives the product some good heft. And the silicone base covers the entire bottom of the unit, keeping it firmly in place and safe from sliding or tipping over.

The air vents are attractive and well-designed for maximum air flow to keep these powerful routers cool. Setting up the system was very straightforward and only took about 10 minutes to get fully up and running.

You have the option to set the system up either through a web browser interface, or the Asus Router App with your iOS or Android device. I tried both methods and although they look slightly different visually, both methods accomplished the same result.

Basically they’ve made the setup process almost automatic, only prompting you to enter a user name and password and an SSID. I appreciated that they’ve included option to split my WiFi network into three SSIDs so I can control which devices connect to my 2.

4ghz band and which would be better served by the faster 5ghz bands. Once everything was all set, I was stunned at the speeds of the wireless backhaul. When I tried a speed test with the units about 20 feet apart I reached speeds of around 350Mbps which I thought was quite impressive.

But I have Ethernet cables running throughout the home so I was able to connect them hard wired to get the full speed I pay for from my ISP which is 600mbps. I get this speed all over my house and yard and I love that my phone signal never gets dropped as I move from one point to another.

The aiMesh roaming capabilities are impressive and seems to work flawlessly, almost always keeping me on the closest node giving me the best experience possible. Even with around 35 devices on my network, both wired and wireless, I just can’t seem to trip up this system at all.

I even tried streaming high definition AND 4K video on every display in the house simultaneously – 11 video streams – and still couldn’t break the ZenWiFi. It didn’t even buffer the videos at all, and there was no degradation or skipping of the picture whatsoever.

I was very impressed with this system’s overall performance. I actually loved this system so much that I felt confident enough to purchase the wifi 6 version of the ZenWiFi to extend my coverage and capabilities even more.

Who is this system for? I think this system would be perfect for homeowners or small business owners who are looking for a truly set-it-and-forget-it Home Networking experience while still having the advanced configuration options power users need.

It’s also a great system for those who need the flexibility to add to their system as their WiFi requirements grow. And if you’re looking for a mesh WiFi system that delivers your true maximum internet speed pretty consistently, then this system is for you.

(Mine is 600mbps and I often get 650 on WiFi. ) And since you are getting two identical powerful routers in one box, you’re getting excellent value for your money as well. I think ASUS has hit it out of the park with the ZenWiFi system.

Liked, the audio, which came as a surprise, given I did not buy it for this feature. 5g support, good screen and reasonable chip set (at the price), plus battery life seems good during normal day to day usage.

Dislike. 4GB ram. All my previous Moto phones have come with 6. Ok, chip sourcing problems throughout world, but really down to 4 with no option to upgrade. Overall, with 2 year guarantee, and price under £200.

Love the phone, it is a step up from my old G8 version with higher res. screen and much more responsive than my old phone. I have one slight disappointment in that inside shots with the camera it’s on the cold side and even outside it leans to the cold look,but it’s early days and I’m still learning to see if I can change it’s hue bias, but otherwise happy with the phone.

Really happy with this phone. It charges quickly and holds it’s charge well. It’s responsive and the camera is easily as good as the ones on my sons’ much more expensive Samsung phones.

I would advise anyone to get these, they are perfect. Im going to order another set for my other Zafira as well.

First, this review concerns the use of this router in a small, studio apartment, so it does not concern the range that this unit can project. That being said, this is a great unit for those who want a no-frills, high-speed router that is easy to setup and offers great new features.

If you are a networking guru or enjoy the classic interface of Linksys routers, you will not like this unit. If you are like me, and understand all those settings, but would rather have something less time consuming to setup, this router is perfect.

The setup took approximately half an hour, which consisted of plugging it in, and following the instructions provided. The software that this router comes is with is great if you don’t want to spend hours customizing your DNS, DHCP or other information.

The dual broadcast feature is also nice, but a word of caution. If you are using a wireless printer with this router, your devices must be connected to the same SSID that the printer is connected to, otherwise, you will not be able to find it.

This is especially true for Mac devices, as I had some trouble finding the printer at first, but once I connected to other 5ghz SSID, I had no problems printing from my Mac laptops. Overall, this is a great unit for ppl who do not want to spend hours tinkering with their network settings, but want the latest speeds that the AC technology offers.

Seriously, the AC technology is leaps and bounds better than the old N wireless router I had. Worth the upgrade.

Router fails to perform. Parental controls are either all access or no access, regardless of the times I have set for wifi to be on/off or the websites restricted. Remote login fails, not recognizing username/password when I attempt to log in via smartphone on phone signal instead of wifi.

Even if I am sitting in the same chair and the only difference is I turn my phone’s wifi off, the app will not recognize my login details. Yet if I toggle the wifi on, voila! I can log in no problems.

The tech support reps have been saints in trying to help resolve the issues, resetting the system, resetting my login, troubleshooting and trying everything they can, but have been unsuccessful in resolving the issues.

Useless for trying to turn wifi on/off when away from home.

I bought the the Linksys ac1200 on a gamble, and it paid off. The auto installation was easy, with no glitches. The signal strength was much stronger than I expected, and, to test it, I set it up alongside my old Linksys WRT54g (which has extended antennas).

I measured their respective signal strengths on my laptop with “Arcylic Wifi Home” software, moving my laptop around the house, outdoors, and even into a neighboring house. The ac1200 5ghz ac band was equal in strength to the g band on the WRT54g, which was a surprise since people frequently complain about the limited range of the 5ghz ac band.

On top of that, the ac1200 n band was substantially stronger than the g band on the WRT54g. I also tested the ac1200’s signal strength along side a comparable Edimax 5ghz ac router, and the ac1200 was slightly stronger.

I now have the edimax on the second floor as an access point wired into the ac1200. I’ve had this system running for a month, with maybe 15 wifi devices, and have experienced no conflicts or crashes.

I connected to my Xfinity wifi without issue then a few weeks later started getting issues on the xfinity internet feed. The Xfinity tech came and ran tests and said that I can’t run the Lynksys 6500 extender as they are old technology and not compatible with the wifi6 tech that Xfinity uses.

Disconnected the linksys and my internet works again. if I turn on again I start to get connection issues after a couple of hours. I was told by xfinity I should get a mesh unit. Not an extender for wifi6.

Lynksys needs to put that info in their specs. Now I own a boat anchor.

I have used one of these for a few years now, and it always works. It is very easy to see if the original signal is strong enough because you will see a white steady light. If it turns to orange steady, it means you are a little too far from the main router, and you have to shorten the distance.

I have not used the phone app that helps with this because it is so easy just to get the white light and know it’s good. Speed is very fast, and having 4 gigabit ethernet ports in the garage without having to have dug a trench for wires makes this thing well worth it.

Linksys/Belkin is the way to go for all networking gear now. Linksys is the best (stay away from netgear stuff with all their online registration and constant automatic updates), and this device is superb.

I am online now buying another one for a friend and have set up several of these for people I know, and they are all still working.

Perhaps it isn’t the extenders fault but I bought this extender specifically for my Roku TV and it just does not work. Everything else seems to connect fine enough, but if you’re looking to connect a Roku to this, I would recommend checking out something else.

Also, very sketchy customer service. They ask for way too much information for no real reason other than “it will help future support calls go more smoothly”. Meanwhile, next time I called support they stated they had none of my information saved.

I’ve had this for 2 months and it’s been okay. Pros: Gigabit Easy set up Cons: Interface is slow and cumbersome Very short range To amplify the short range, we live in a roughly 10 year old house, but put on the second floor office space at the front of the house, it is unable to provide coverage to the back two bedrooms.

I had to put a repeater in the hallway about 15 feet from the router to reach those bedrooms. It cannot penetrate the downstairs, not even the rooms directly below it. I ended up buying a second cheap wifi router to use downstairs, one with external antennas that provide full coverage to the downstairs with full bars on both 2.

4 and 5GHz channels. I did need to put another repeater just inside the garage to reach the TV we have out there, but I had to buy 3 other devices to get whole home coverage (I had not really expected the garage to be reached by the base router, but I expected the main rooms in the house to be covered) at a cost of almost $180, and this is on top of hooking up the ethernet in the house to lessen the wifi load.

For the slow interface, it takes close to a minute for each page to load, which means if you can’t recall which tab something is under, it can take quite some time to check and change settings. I’m still trying to figure out if I can connect this through my modem I had to get for wifi calling.

I have Xfinity and for a couple of weeks now everything was fine with the cable line split coming out of the wall, but the streaming app stopped working this morning, presumably because the signal isn’t coming out of the registered modem.

But I can’t find anything online and after 20 minutes gave up going through the interface.

Top of the line Arris Cable Gateway, supporting 32×8 channels, DOCSIS 3. 1 standard, Wi-Fi 6 with with one 2. 5 Gbps port. Despite these impressive stats the LAN component has numerous problems that Arris tech support wouldn’t bother to help me figure out.

Issue #1, 2 of my laptops use an almost identical model Intel wireless adapter. Prior to switching out my previous model Arris gateway both of these laptops connected wirelessly fine. These 2 laptops see other neighbors networks in range just not this gateway.

The workaround was to uninstall the Intel Wi-Fi driver and use a generic Microsoft driver. Arris support simply told me to contact Intel. 2nd issue is Chromecast doesn’t allow me to cast anything to it via Ethernet, only wirelessly but my Wi-Fi signal in this room is poor to the gateway.

The previous Arris gateway allowed me to cast via Ethernet with Chromecast. Once again Arris didn’t help but referred me to Google. I should mention that I’m an A+ certified Systems Administrator, used to troubleshooting problems but this one was impossible to figure out, even after hard resetting the gateway, updating firmware on all devices.

Most users that aren’t too technical might not have such problems as me. I’m a power user, for the price I expect this product or support to surpass my expectations. I returned this and went with Netgear Nighthawk, everything works perfectly now, I’m through with Arris products and terrible tech support.

I really really wanted to like this device, and the one issue aside that I had with it, which was a MAJOR one, kept me from being able to. I purchased this to use the faster 2. 5GB port and while I was getting faster speeds than the 1GB I subscribe to, the issue I had was that my wife could no longer access her VPN (Cisco AnyConnect) while working from home.

I tried to troubleshoot with Arris but they were zero help. I ended up returning and purchasing another one thinking maybe I’d gotten a dud; same result. Hours of online research and not a single solution that could resolve.

If you need to use Cisco AnyConnect (or as best I can tell, ANY VPN) this may not be the device for you. Also tried a Netgear CAX80 and had the same exact issues so it has to be something related to these “all in one” devices.

Bummer, as I liked this device, it looked cool, it was a modem and router all in one, but in the end, I couldn’t keep it.

Anyone who’s been around WiFi routers knows about coverage area, linking, bridging and other ways of expanding coverage. Each manufacturer has their own way of doing it and some are better than others.

Although I’ve used almost all of them at one time or another, and have definite opinions about advantages and disadvantages of each, I’m going to start by saying that the first thing I noticed is that these are sold as a SET rather than a random collection of routers likely bought at different times with different features that may, or may not co-operate with each other.

I’ve even bought 4 that were manufactured by the same company. over $1,000 in total. Two of them could work together and 2 wouldn’t. It was very annoying buying the same brand of router at a later time with misleading documentation that the “New, Improved, Better-Than-Ever-Technology” does not support the “Old Improved, Better-Than-Ever-Technology”.

I’m happy to say that you absolutely will not have that problem with these. They are made as a set to work together. You can even buy an add-on module at a later time that will further expand your “sphere of reception”.

I believe that 4 modules is the maximum right now, but the technology is always improving. I did find the initial setup a little “different” compared to previous router setups, but a very capable and knowledgeable support team walked me through it and when it was “done”, it was DONE! The increase in coverage area and signal strength was immediate and remarkable.

Depending on placement, I have a full signal on both floors and cellar of a medium to large (5 bedroom, 2 full bath) home. I have the master module in the back of the second floor (home office), the #2 module in the middle of the first floor (living room), and the #3 module in the front of the second floor (bedroom).

Besides giving a full signal to the entire house, I also get outside internet 100 to 200 feet in front of and behind my house. The next module will be in a detached garage about 200 feet away from the house and will almost certainly result in 100% coverage inside and proximity outside as well.

The pictures of the modules are a good representation that you can pretty much set them anywhere near an electrical outlet and have a pleasant, unobtrusive “knick-knack” sitting on a coffee table, speaker, window sill, shelf, etc.

If, like me, you’re tired of “futzin'” around with stand-alone routers with wobbly antennas that won’t stay at a 45 degree angle, won’t automatically upgrade firmware and don’t always “play nice together” as they should.

And if you don’t mind paying a little more for guaranteed better coverage, than these are what you want! BTW, if you’re considering the newer WiFi 6, which are more expensive, discuss it with a neutral WiFi guy first.

I didn’t get the 6’s but I’m certainly not lacking for any speed or coverage!.

Lots of buzz about mesh systems for more consistent signal around the house, so made the move to mesh to replace a not-too-old router that was doing OK, but weak signal in the kitchen where the wife is working from home on wireless laptop.

This setup does provide a stronger signal away from the router, with the 3rd pod sitting pretty much right next to the wireless laptop. Setup of the main pod (router pod) and then the second pod went very smoothly using the app – easiest setup for a router i have had so far – except the third pod wasn’t connecting.

KUDOS to the tech support hotline, as the rep was very courteous and stayed with me patiently until the third pod was connected and active. All the pods needed an update, and you get a notification that updates are ready, and the updating is “one touch” and completes in just a few minutes.

we have lost power a few times (that’s normal) and the system comes back online/wireless without any problems. looking at all the specs for all the systems, i didn’t see the need to go with “tri-band” for an extra couple hundred.

this system has been out for a little while, so this is the time to grab the “mark down” price and still get a very nice system that has given me no reason to complain. the android app works very nicely from anywhere, and the complter/browser app is pretty much “stock linksys” interface, and there are advanced adjustments that can be made if needed like static IP for a home media server.

we stream PLEX local network wireless, Hulu, Amazon, >> all wireless and no problems with signal strength and quality of streaming. unless you have some specific need for more bands or an enormous number of devices, this should provide what you need without breaking the bank.

there is always better for more money, but this system meets all my needs and is current with firmware and tech support when needed.

I was having trouble connecting my second desktop computer to my Cablevision Internet provider and it was probably software related. My Cablevision tech suggested that I get a Wi-Fi USB Adapter to connect to my EERO Wi-Fi device.

The product ws purchased at P. C. Richards where the tech was very helpful. The product was easy to install and I now have both desktop computers connected to my local Wi-Fi service. It’s an excellent product and I’ve been using it for a while now with no problems whatsoever.

It’s definitely warrants a 5-star rating.

I bought this device to replace an internal wi-fi card that suddenly failed after many years of use in an old laptop. The laptop is running Windows 10 upgraded from a Windows 7 install several years ago.

It was necessary to use the included CD to install a driver for the device in order to get it to work. I have only had the device for a few hours as I write this, but it appears to work as well as the old internal wi-fi card that it replaced.

Hope it remains that way. Some technical details: Plug the device into a USB port. Load the CD. Go to Control Panel Device Manager and Scan for Hardware Changes. When you see the device under Network Adapters, choose Update Driver.

Point Windows to browse the CD for a driver. Once it’s installed the device should work immediately.

I have an HP Envy that I purchased in 2013. I love it but the Wifi adapter was not great from day 1. It sometimes worked ok but often it would lose the connection or not see my router even when right next to it.

It seemed to be getting worse and I decided to try this LinkSys usb wifI adapter. The improvement is dramatic. Besides having a reliable connection on either 2. 4 or 5 ghz, the laptop started running more reliably once I disabled the internal adapter.

The laptop restarts from sleep so much faster. I run Windows 10 and the driver for this adapter was not found on my drive. I don’t have a CD drive so I kept my old wifi adapter active when I plugged in the LinkSys just in case I needed internet access to find the driver.

That’s exactly what happened, I selected search for driver and Windows searched online and immediately found the driver and installed it. Windows will work with both the old and new adapters installer; when clicking the wifi icon you’ll see an option to select WiFi 1 and Wifi 2.

I knew the LinkSys was Wifi 2 because when selected it found the 5G router options. Once I chose my router and entered password, I went into settings devices and disabled the internal Wifi adapter. Huge improvement all around.

If your laptop Wifi is sketchy and you don’t want to open it up to replace the wifi card, this is your best bet. Note that this adapter only works with Windows but based on how fast my laptop boots and connects now, I’d say the adapter is optimized for Windows.
