20 Best Charcoal Body Wash (2022 Updated)

I have used dove invisible solid powder scent for over 15 years. It was the only deodorant I could wear and feel confident all day. Recently I noticed a night and day change in your product. If its a new formula, it truly is terrible.

I use to be able to wear your product all day without reapplying, now I can’t make it past noon without having to reapply and even then I am very self conscious throughout the day. I truly am sad that this product doesn’t work effectively anymore.

I have always enjoyed using dove body wash; not only does the scent always smell wonderful, but it feels like it’s actually hydrating my skin. Normally, I try to stay away from products labeled “for men,” as I feel my skin usually feels dry and slightly irritated afterwards (the only products I use that are intended for men are deodorant and cologne).

When I received this product, I by chance had just run out of body wash the night prior, so this went directly into my shower and I was pretty excited to try it. I used this product over the course of about 4 weeks (as did my spouse) and we both had very similar options (surprise, surprise!).

I thought the product smelled fantastic, it left my skin feeling hydrated, left me with that feeling of “clean,” and I loved the charcoal aspect of the product (as I have been getting into the charcoal trend lately).

However, this product did leave something to be desired. There were two things that I absolutely disliked about this product; The micro-beads and the lather. I felt that the micro-beads at times did not wash completely out of body hair (for example, I once picked micro-beads out of my leg hair after a shower because although I rinsed well, they just decided to make themselves feel at home); this didn’t always happen, but when it did, it was a huge inconvenience.

The lather was also something I was disappointed in; unless you were using a loofa (which lets be honest, is not an everyday activity), the lather was pathetic. I feel like a lather is telling me it’s working and allows me to see where I may have missed washing, but this did not lather (well, there was just a little lather, but nothing to “ooh-and-ahh” about), and thus, I stopped using it as an everyday body wash, unless again, I was using my loofa (in which case, the lather was fantastic) or I had just finished working out (which this makes a great after gym product).

Overall, I thought this product did exactly what it was intended to do. It left my skin feeling hydrated, smelling great, and feeling clean. I definitely would purchase this product again, specifically to use after I am done working out.

I recommend this to guys (or gals) who don’t really care about the lather or the micro-beads possibly being caught in hair. It should be noted, that I did receive this product in exchange for my honest opinion and reviewing purposes; I do know that my experience will not be the same as another’s, but all information is provided to allow the consumer the ability to make an informed decision.

Changed the formula for the Invisible Solid Powder Fresh. Will you stop changing things Dove? I cannot use the new formula. It breaks me out and it is not invisible anymore. You changed the Dove Moisturizing Body Wash and I used the new body wash one time and was dry and itchy.

I had to find another body moisturizer to help my dry skin. Now I will have to find a new deoderant. ** Everything doesn’t have to be vegan, plant based, gluten free, etc. What next? You will change your famous bar soap to be plant based? Dove was a reliable product but I am not so sure anymore.

It’s incredibly good for acne and oily skin. HOWEVER, if used incorrectly it CAN be drying to the skin. It’s best if used with colder water as it’s already fairly strong at stripping your skin from its natural oils.

Also make sure you aren’t washing for too long otherwise that could also harm your skins natural moisture barrier. It’s best if you use it for about 30-60 seconds and you wash in circular motions as one would with any other cleanser for the face.

It’s awful at shaving so I’m not sure as to why they put that purpose in there. It serves well as all the other purposes: as hand soap, a body wash, and a facial cleanser. It also serves well as a good base for a DIY face mask if you don’t feel comfortable using yogurt or honey.

In conclusion: it’s a very good soap as far as acne is concerned HOWEVER it can be quite drying so if you have eczema, prosioas, or dry skin it’s best if you follow up with a coconut or Shea butter moisturizer.

It’s awful at shaving so don’t use it for those purposes.

I love this African black soap line up! They don’t use coconut oil, but they, instead, use palm kernel oil. Don’t ever change this formula! Please, please please! This is the only soap we’ve found in years of searching that my boyfriend can use without having an allergic skin reaction (i.

e. sores all over). He is allergic to the coconut oil used in like 99% of soaps, but not to the palm kernel oil. He’s also allergic to all the fillers and fragrances in most other soaps, but Alaffia keeps it simple in this line.

He can use the unscented and the ones with botanical oils just fine! (Lavender, peppermint, etc). You guys have our business for life if this formula stays the same! Love! We also love that this is such an environmentally/animal friendly product, and we love the causes your company supports and allows us to support thru purchasing your products.

I love this product so much. It’s my favorite body wash permanently! I’ve tried other soaps and even other African black soaps. I have sensitive skin that’s not particularly dry. I’ve tried dove and every other natural soap on the shelves.

I found African black soaps smell amazing but they’re a bit hard to use and I feel like it ends up wasting itself. I love this unscented liquid form. I used to even use it as shampoo! It worked well but it tangled my hair a little.

I use this as a body wash and it’s even been safe to use for feminine parts. It also is a great shaving cream! It’s a body wash so nourishing I don’t have to moisturize as much after. I love the smell of the unscented smell if that makes sense, it’s intoxicating! And this brand helps women in West Africa as well as they provide this fantastic gift to us!.

Found these products at my local Target. And I honestly couldn’t choose between Compete or Victory, they both smelled so clean and fresh! So I did what any rational human male would do and bought both! And not just the body wash, but the shampoo and conditioner.

Plus Fresh body and face lotion it pairs perfectly with both. Also the deodorant of each as well. Gotta say it’s amazing and the scent actually lasts unlike a lot of other products on the market. I’m most likely a forever buyer as long as nothing changes.

Given the current sale target had for this item and my not so great experience with the competitor body wash (something “with sugar or raw sugar” I can’t recall the name) I decided to take a chance on this item and wow I love it it smells sooooo good better than well anything I’ve used.

I highly recommend for the gents out there whom like I suffer from some rather strong body odor. This will actually help fight off the stank.

Thought it was about time I reviewed this Body Wash! I’ve been a Ballwash user/Subscriber since March 2019(Currently Sep 2022) and I have a few things to share. First off this is the absolute best smelling body wash I’ve ever used and after nearly 4 years, I still get excited to crack open that fresh new bottle! Also, it’s truly one of the best feeling liquid soaps to use in the shower, mainly because it doesn’t leave your skin feeling like the moisture got sucked out after rinsing off but rather a nice smooth silky surface.

That said there haven’t been issues but inconsistencies. Being a small batch product line has its downsides and I’m talking about the finished product, which leaves the product having slight texture changes I’ve experienced through my many bottles I’ve owned.

Sometimes there’s grits of charcoal, other times soap seems a little watered down. There was only one time where one of my Original Ballwash had accidentally been filled with the Charity Wash version that has a completely different smell.

Overall, I’m glad I tried this brand and will continue to do so, things have been really consistent this past year!.

I have a 12 yo son and the pre-teen smells were getting pretty rough around our house. A friend suggested this wash and I am forever grateful. We ordered the green bottle that donates to charity version first then this one.

Both smell great. It is thicker and a bit gritty, I assume due to the charcoal but it gives a nice exfoliating factor. My son has very rough, dry elbows, but they were significantly better with 2-3 washes alone.

I would highly recommend buying the scrubber from this company because the wash is black, so far it does not seem to stain but it is alarming to see on the wash cloths because it doesn’t rinse out completely in the shower.

It’s also a little rough so nice for an extra exfoliation. I do wish the pump tube was wider, I ended up buying one from Ulta that works better.

Bought this for my husband and 2 sons for Christmas. Products were received in a timely manner, however; all bottle foil seals had broken and bottles leaked. The body wash is extremely thick and hard to flow.

All three pumps are not very effective and the thick wash doesn’t pump well through the thin tubes pump. All men have resorted to pouring from the bottles to use. Any spilled or splashed liquid/ soap bubbles leaves a horrible residue on the shower tiles if not throughly rinsed.

The body wash cleans well and has a nice fragrance and we appreciate the natural ingredients but unfortunately, the above struggles will keep us from being a repeat customer. Best wishes to this small American made business on your continued success.

I have dry skin. I did some research and decided to give this a try. It has a nice scent that is not to overpowering. It helped my dry skin. My skin does not feel so dry and itchy now that I been using this product.

I feel hydrated and my skin is soft. I am happy with it and will suggest anyone who suffers from dry itchy skin to give this a try.

Aside from the fact that OLAY has been around for decades, I mean my Great-grandmother used this product. As embarrassing as this will sound, unfortunately, Olay is not the product I reach for and that is not because it’s not all that they advertise, its simply the price tag that deters me from indulging.

With that said I was visiting my family and ran out of soap, I run into Stop and Shop to find Olay on sale 2 bottles for whatever it was 6 or 7 bucks, which is a steal! Hence to say the only issue was choosing a scent! Well, I went with Charcoal and Mint and I am addicted.

However like one of the ladies mentioned above its difficult to find in stores. And it does not seem to even be available on their website. I tried and it does not allow you to cart it. Great Job OLAY!.

This is the absolute best body wash I have ever used. The smell is amazing it suds up just perfectly. I have a hard time finding it sometimes so I hope there isn’t supply problems with it! This is literally the best body wash I’ve experienced.

While there is no perfect product out there for everyone, this one comes damn close. It takes me one pump on a loofah and it is enough for the whole body. I feel softer and relaxed when I’m done. I bought this off Amazon and since I stopped the ‘traditional’ body washes, I’ve noticed I dont have nearly as many dry spots all over.

This has zero sulfates, no parabens, dyes, gluten, phthalate, or propylene glycol. I never knew what I didnt need until I stopped using it. I would recommend this product.

I like it, but I’m not sure how “detoxifying” it truly is. It’s a good way to clean your body, and doesn’t seem drying or harsh on my skin, but it doesn’t really seem to have any special detoxifying effects on my body either, even after 2 weeks of using it.

Maybe I just need more time to see the effect, though, and I do love the fact that it doesn’t have sulfates, parabens, or silicones. It has a neutral (though a little strong) smell to it, so I would say this could definitely be used any gender.

I’m absolutely in love with this product! It has a great smell that is long lasting. I’m so impressed at how soft this makes my skin feel! Not only do I use it as a body wash, but I also squirt a pump in running water to make it a bubble bath too! I love the fact that there are no toxic chemicals in this product and it doesn’t make my skin break out.

This product really helps me unwind and feel relaxed, refreshed and oh so smooth after a ruff day!.

This was disappointing. It wasn’t very scrubby and the base gel was thin and runny so it didn’t cling to the skin well. After using, I didn’t feel like my legs had been exfoliated in the slightest. The smell was unpleasant too so it just wasn’t enjoyable to use.

I would not repurchase or recommend this ineffective scrub.

This is easily one of the worst body washes I have ever used. What’s most disappointing is that it’s nowhere near the price you spend on it. You can tell from the color that there is charcoal in there, but my skin did not feel much cleaner than before, and I ended up breaking out more than expected.

The product is also not very well concentrated because you need a TON of it to work into an acceptable lather. Such a waste of money!The only reason this deserves more than one star is that the cooling sensation from using the product feels amazing during summertime when your skin needs the charcoal the most.

I have foliculitis on my legs and most body washes irritate it and make the breakout red. Even soaps and non scented body washes. His is the only product I have found that does not irritate it. I’m not saying it cures it by any means but it helps manage it.

I use it daily. I have found the charcoal sponges from this same brand are a good pairing.

It will not be a repeat purchase for me; although it smells great in the bottle, the scent does not stay on your body. It does not lather very much, and IMO, it is very little product for the price point.

I did not use the charcoal scent, I personally used the cotton and powder scent but this body wash made me break out all over! I am someone who always uses sensitive skin body washes and nothing with harsh ingredients so I figured this would be the same thing.

It smells AMAZING and I’m sure it would be fine on other people but didn’t work for me and my sensitive skin!.

I found this product haphazardly walking through target (like most products). I had heard of native before, but had no idea they made body wash. I liked that the company explains the importance of each ingredient which make me feel comfortable putting it on my body.

I got this scent for my husband and I to share because I thought it would be a good neutral scent. I think, it smells a bit more feminine but he didn’t seem to mind. I ended up buying this again in the Vanilla Coconut scent.

I don’t like it as much. The scent is a bit too strong. I wish they made an unscented version.

I was a bit scared when I seen the color of the body wash but it just looks dark in the bottle. It has a light fresh scent that to me leans aquatic. Definitely can be unisex. It did not irritate my sensitive skin a bit.

I will and have repurchased this and other scent from Native.

Native’s Natural Body Wash in Charcoal is so good for my sensitive skin. I have a really hard time finding a body wash that doesn’t irritate and aggravate my skin. This body wash is so soothing, it cleans my skin without stripping it of moisture.

My skin feels refreshed, clean, moisturized and soft. It lathers well, a little goes a long ways and the fragrance is just right (it’s light and not overpowering).

And this one smells so refreshing, my boyfriend uses it everyday [brand:native].

This bottle is a lot bigger than I expected and I am very happy that it is a clean product because my skin is quite sensitive. The scent is subtle but noticeable.

I first tried this product when I saw it at Walmart, Luckily at a very low price during COVID. Don’t ask me why but since that first purchase the cost has seemed to inflate threefold on this body wash.

But I understand the demand. The amount of mainstream tea tree products, specifically body washes and face washes is very limited. As all of you out there reading this review and searching for one know by now.

Tea tree oil used to be used mainly in prescription washes but over the years is finally making a splash on the supermarkets shelf- sort of. Ultimate wake-up body wash is cool to the skin and feels activated by the hot water, bringing the tea tree and lemon essence to strangely work together well without smelling medical.

All in all, It’s pretty moisturizing, smells and feels good both going on and after your routine is complete. This is a body wash I would recommend to anyone looking to try a product specifically with tea tree oil in the ingredients.

It’s not my favorite but it’s also not the worst I’ve tried. I will say in my opinion, if you are looking to purchase this product and it happens to be marked over $5, it’s not worth your time. Everyone seems to have a different price point on this item and my threshold for thriftiness will end on this Irish spring at no higher value, but that’s just a matter of personal taste as I like to save the extra bucks for my favorite brands.

Goshhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Did Y’all have to change the freaking scents just because y’all changed the packaging????????? Y’all have messed up a lot of good business with this. I used to use like 3 different kinds of y’all body wash and now these new “Down Grades” y’all gave to the scents are just horrible and unpleasant.

I will not shower with anything that doesn’t smell too good and doesn’t feel fresh. IM JUST SAYING!!! Y’all SHOULDN’T have bothered the way the soaps SMELL. Now I gotta shop around and find something to replace yalls.

I have a different version of the aloe, I have aloe mist. For a guy you have to feel let’s say clean and smooth. I got the aloe mist because it’s a face and body wash. Smells like a fresh spring day, flowers in bloom, and the flowing water of a creek going by.

In my opinion it’s a great body wash. Gets me feeling fresh and revitalized. I usually use old spice but switched up and think I found a new favorite. Doesn’t seem so harsh on the skin as other body washes.

I had a problem with barsoaps and even most body washes. prolonged use of any type eventually gives me a rash. Once I get this rash, it won’t go away unless I switch to another type of soap and then the whole cycle starts over.

Some are better than others, but no matter what, I end up in this constant cycle of switching between products and that just didn’t seem good to me. So, I went in search of all natural ingredient soaps to see if I could end this cycle once and for all.

My Goolge search led me to Every Man Jack about eight to ten years ago and problem solved! I tried all four of their body washes back then and found that I liked Sandalwood the best. I’ve tried everything they’ve come out with since and still, I go back to Sandalwood.

it’s the best of the best for me! It leaves my skin feeling the best for the longest time after showering. I don’t know what chemicals were giving me all those problems in other soaps, but I can tell you that Every Man Jack products must contain none of them because I’ve never had the ptoblem with any of their products.

A couple years ago, I went on a trip where I had to fly, so I couldn’t take all that stuff with me and just relied on whatever was in the hotel. and yeah, I got a rash after a few days. So, I am absolutely sure the Every Man Jack Products are the best out there for my particular situation.

I’m sure I’ll be using this stuff for the rest of my life! That said, I must also say that I’ve tried most of their shampoos too and I really like the ones that aren’t the 2-in-one shampoo/conditioner way better and it’s disappointing that they’ve discontinued most of those products.

I’ve never been one to use conditioner, let alone every day. So, if I’m going to use it, once every few days is plenty for me. Obviously, I don’t want it mixed in with my shampoo. I want more control over it than that.

I miss the Sandalwood shampoo! lately, I’ve just been using the Sandalwood Body Wash as shampoo. It works fine, but it’s not quite the same. The shampoo was better.

I had mild facial acne since I was an adolescent, now in my 30’s I purchased this product on a whim. It says “skin clearing” on the bottle so one night I washed my face with it and it immediately started to clear away my acne.

I used it until it ran out with great results, noticing clear skin every day. When I discontinued use the acne came back. So now I always keep a bottle and use it once daily to wash my face. I’m so thankful for this product.

They do not offer it in stores in my area anymore so I have to order it online which is pricey and inconvenient. Please bring it back to Loblaws Superstore! – Zack, (NB Canada).

The Aged Bourbon body wash smells great in the bottle. And smells great lathering on. And then *entirely* vanishes. Now, I don’t want to walk around reeking of fragrance like I’d bathed in cologne. But I do want some of the scent to stick around after the rinse.

Compare this to the excellent Sandalwood body wash, which maintains a light, pleasant scent on my skin for hours after my shower—and always provokes a pleased “mmm, you smell good” reaction from my wife.

She has yet to notice or comment after I’ve used the Aged Bourbon. It could be that it just don’t react with my body chemistry, but I don’t think that’s it. I have a really strong olfactory and, immediately after rinse, I can’t detect even a whiff of this stuff.

Otherwise, it’s a nice bodywash. Feels good going on, gets you clean, feels fairly hydrating. Just like the rest of the EMJ washes. YMMV.

Most rose fragrances smell harsh to me and I was always reluctant to try this scent. I’m so happy I gave it a chance; it smells beautiful and makes my skin silky smooth and soft. If you have not tried this scent, you should.

You will be pleasantly surprised. I will be ordering the complete set.

Since being introduced to this lovely product and its fabulous Charcoal Rose scent by my savvy sister several years ago, this has become my personal #1 choice hand wash. In a family full of men, I can get away with keeping this by my sink, and so this 17-ounce bottle generally lasts about six months.

If you want to come out smelling like a rose and I’m talking figuratively here this is your happy body wash. It has a subtle rose smell so it is light but lingers on the skin. The lather is divine and your skin feels rose petal soft after using it.

This is now my favorite rose scented body wash on the market!.

I used this as a hand wash too and doesn’tdry my skin. This is a Pure Castile 2× Thicker Viscosity. The ingredients are Purified water, Saponified (fatty acid) Coconut Oil, Saponified (fatty acid) Olive Oil, Potassium Oleate, Vegetable Glycerin, Natural Almond Honey Fragrance, Sea Salt, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E.

Also by researching, castile soap is the closest relative to the very first soap ever made. So then it’s more on real ingredients than the soap nowadays that contains too much synthetic chemicals and strong.

It’ll help our skin to hydrate, no gunked pores, ease eczema, psoarisis and more, soothes dry and irritated skin like mine. And my our friend used this as a multi-faceted household and of course personal care applications.

I bought this because I saw that my hubby body acne problem. Green tea is really great for acne treatment. I love this soap because it handled that problem for my hubby. He’s ok with the smell but for me it little bit smell like hospital soaps (which maybe great).

It does leave you with that clean feeling on your skin. It does make my normal skin slightly dry. It would be great for those who has oily skin and absolutely great for guys who worked in dusty oily greasy area the soap will clean them good.

I give 4 stars just because the smell. Else than that I would really recommend this soap.

Love this hand soap. I think I found it in Marshalls on one of my shopping sprees. I liked it so much I went back and purchased the almond Castile soap. It’s thick and creamy and a little goes a long way.

I have one in the kitchen and in the bathroom. I would definitely purchase this again.

I appreciate the intent of providing a “cleaner” ingredient list from this brand, but it’s not enough to just say it- the product has to perform. The scent is phenomenal as is the packaging. Where it completely fails is it’s inability to generate even the most basic of lather on my bath pouf.

The amount of product I had to use to truly cleanse myself makes this both wasteful and uneconomical. I’ll go back to Every Man Jack. If they could manage to get this product to lather, I’d have no hesitation giving it a 5/5.

As a female, I enjoy scents that are more advertised for men. Raw sugar has my absolute favorite body wash scents! The soap itself is amazing on its own. Leaves me feeling clean and doesn’t break out my sensitive skin.

A little product goes a long way, too! It lasts for months and is well worth the $8!.

Woah!!! Does this make your husband smell amazing!! I almost used this for myself but have held myself back. It smells so fresh and has that ‘just enough’ manly scent without being over powering. mmmmmm!! it’s one of those head turning scents that’s unique and smells expensive.

He likes it too and now washes in it more because I’ll literally put my nose to his skin and cuddle up more.

I love Dr. Teal’s products. I’ve been using for years. I used all of them. I recently purchased a large bottle of Coconut Oil body wash. The smell is horrible. There is no scent of coconut in the entire bottle.

I don’t think any coconut oil is in it at all. TERRIBLE. I definitely don’t want to stop using your products because I love them all except for this body wash. I have never had a problem with any thing else.

I love soaking in a hot bath…it’s my indulgence. I bought the collection to enjoy. The bath salts, foaming bath, lotion and this body wash. I also add essential oil drops to the water. This has a low scent factor so would be perfect for those who do not like too strong scent.

I DO like stronger scent so I found it a bit under-whelming. I prefer the coconut oil formula over this for emollient factor. I will add the bath oil to my next purchase to boost moisturizing silky effect for my skin.

I may also try the shampoo and conditioner. Will buy again. I also like the cohesive packaging design. Looks good on shelves for display at tub. Hard to find collections of bathing products at affordable prices.

This is a quality product, as you would expect for the price. I got it on sale at a deep discount in-store and it was worth the price. There seems to be a lot of science and thought that went into this product because the end result was noticeably very good – I felt very clean and fresh and the light scent on my skin was pleasant, unlike cheaper body washes which are generally stronger and unpleasant.

The scent seemed to be not just for scent but to neutralize odor, at least that’s the way it seemed to me. One thing I didn’t like was the feeling when rinsing off – there felt like a slimy residue on my skin.

Maybe it wasn’t actual residue but moisture, which is good. Still I didn’t like the feeling, even if it was only brief. Other body washes feel similar in this respect. As to any effect on my muscles or mood, as the brand indicated, I didn’t feel that at all and did not expect it either.

Personally I would not buy it again at the normal price and probably not even buy it at a deep discount. There are bar soaps out there that provide a better overall experience, including rinsing clean, at a much lower price.

This body wash is for people who like well designed and quality things and have the budget to indulge.

this stuff makes some awesome bubbles in the bath!!! I bought for my husband who works construction! it’s awesome! I even use it on my daughter! she’s always playing super hard, getting bruised like a banana! she enjoys it mostly for the awesome full tub of bubbles, but it always relaxes her before bed, I’m going to purchase the lavender kind next.

my one negative is the epsom salt when you use it as a soak if you dip your hair in the water it sucks it DRY but I always just wash and condition after but you know just for the people that don’t.

So I bought this hoping my husband would like it. He has nerve damage and is in a lot of pain after cutting grass or yard work of any kind. He was surprised that it did help some. If you have this issue you will understand the problem.

Sometimes after lying in a bed a few hours he has to get up and take another shower to help his muscles relax a bit so he he can sleep. We are both happy with this soap. I am ordering more. Not exactly happy with the price but it works so it must be worth it.

I have extremely sensitive skin like Overkill sensitive. If I eat the wrong food or use the wrong laundry soap my skin breaks out in hives. I was so hoping that the body washes would work for me but unfortunately they do irritate my skin but like I said my skin is very very sensitive so if you don’t have extreme sensitivity like me you will probably love them they all smell amazing.

I can’t say enough about this amazing body wash. I think it might be my favorite out of all of them. It makes my skin soo soft and can we talk about the smell! I initially bought it thinking my husband would be thrilled but it just sat in the shower so I started using it.

As soon as he saw I was using it he was all over it! Needless to say I will be placing another order in the next couple of days because we are almost out. Don’t sleep on this ladies, the smell is not to manly but not to girly either, it is absolute PERFECTION for the entire family💕.

So, my oldest is one smelly kid, he is a boy and has gym class daily so I guess it’s going to happen. Well, this kid is always smelling like onions until this line came out. I figured if it didn’t work for him, I would use it because I love the smell.

Let me just say this line has saved my nose! My child can shower and not come out smelling like masked onions. This charcoal detox actually takes the stink away and I couldn’t be any happier.
