11 Best Chart Patterns Books (2022 Updated)

There are several approaches to alteration. Nancy Zieman uses the pivot method which does not involve cutting the pattern. Instead the pattern is rotated in various ways and new cutting lines are drawn.

The book is sensibly organized and covers the most common alterations for women’s wear. Problems like narrow or wide shoulders are covered in some detail. This is not a textbook and every combination of fitting problems is not addressed in detail; however all the basics are there.

The book assumes basic sewing knowledge. The focus is on alternating printed patterns for better fit.

This books with its method of altering patterns is easy for anyone to understand and accomplish. Just measure what you need to add or subtract from any specific area of your pattern. Then you use pins, you place your pattern on a piece of cardboard and pivot or slide depending on what you want to do.

The book shows and tells, and shows thing step by step. I highly recommend this book and also Fitting Finesse both by Nancy Zieman for pattern altering.

This Nancy Zieman book is concise, comprehensive, covers beginner to advanced level sewing skills “confidently”. A great value and a great product!

I had purchased the DMC for thread and still had a hard time connecting drills to color. Then this happened. Oh yea its the bomb! All diamond painting lovers need one.

Its perfect for matching colors if run out original color. Love it. Good to paste drills in the book. Again, love it.

I have recently started a new job at a software house and have had to learn the MVVM pattern. Before learning high level architectures I wanted to delve into the basics. This book was a great read, particularly the first two chapters, to help me understand the need for and justification of different design patterns.

I like the structure of the book. It’s set up to be used as a quick reference for the most common design. It’s a little difficult, unless you’re advanced in the topic of design patterns, to read from front to back.

Most of the examples are in C++, so if you don’t know C++ or C it will be impossible to understand the code because it has pointers everywhere, which are hard to understand unless you’ve studied them.

I highly recommend the book for anyone who’s studying design patterns. I don’t give it an excellent rating because it is a hard read unless you have a lot of experience.

This is a must have for software engineers. I recommend it to everyone who wants to have the book in the pocket and your kindle device

Required for joining the Strickler in Color FB page, this book is highly prized for it’s 8-shaft weaving patterns. The price was incredibly reasonable, so I was able to acquire it much sooner than anticipated.

It did take several weeks for it to arrive, but I knew that when I ordered it.

I’ve only had a chance to glance through this book, but it appears to be everything I’d hoped for when I bought it. Looking forward to trying some of the designs this fall.

I love the variety and depth of design in this classic weaving book. This gives threading and treadling information for hundreds of weaving patterns. It is important to note that the dust cover is yellow, and the book itself has green covers.

There is another version, printed after this one, that has red and/or orange covers. That one is a poorly produced and incomplete copy of this one. I was careful when ordering to make sure I had the older, more complete copy.

This book does not contain the information the original does. Do not waste your money. There are not as many patterns and the ones ithe book does have are smaller and hard to read. Find a used copy of the original, it is indispensable for four shaft weaving.

I gave the one I bought to my weaving instructor to show future students what not to buy.

As a weaving teacher, I consider this book a treasure for any weaver who is interested in experimenting with patterns. The pictures are clear (albeit black and white), the drafts are understandable, and there’s plenty of examples to choose from, carefully broken into categories.

I recommend it as a must-have for all of my 4-harness students. I personally refer to my copy whenever I’m planning a pattern weaving. Marguerite Davison wrote this wonderful reference book over 50 years ago and it is still the definitive pattern book for four-harness weaving.

One of the best pattern books I have come across in recent years. I’m so glad that I took the chance and bought it. Information within the text is informative and walks you through each pattern example in the book.

Originally a Japanese text, I cannot fault the translation grammatically, instructions are clear, but the text example patterns are designed for small Japanese figures (up to 89cm bust); however the patterns can be adapted to larger sizes with a little knowledge and application of adjustment techniques.

I’m looking forward to purchasing the other books in the series.

Perhaps most people wont wear the clothes in this book but the process of making them teaches so much about pattern making and they are highly inspirational.

Great price and availability! This book wasn’t available anywhere but BAM found it for me!! Now my set is complete.

I can write a good review of the product; however, when the package was delivered, the plastic wrap was all but hanging onto the books and the box the books were in. Actually, the box containing the books, was smashed open on one side.

Fortunately, the books themselves weren’t damaged, but they were out of sequence which make me think they fell out of the box and packaging and were hastily put back into what was left of the box.

Superb collection of books to give every fell walker all the information needed to climb the great fells of the Lake District . Very good value for money, well pleased with my purchase

Wainwright’s box set of hand drawn mapping of all the Lake District Mountains and Hills is the most detailed and exact walkers guides ever produced. These, plus a set of OS explorer maps are the essential requirements for mountain and hill walkers in the Lake District.

I consider this one of my most valued pattern books. I highly recommend this book as well as all of Lora Irish pattern books. She is one talented lady and I only wish I had a little of her design ability.

All of the designs are well apportioned demonstrating what a creative eye Ms. Irish has. There are few designers that offer such high quality designs that are easy to follow.

These are really great patterns. They look great and they’re not too hard to do. It was my first scroll pattern book and I’ve gotten kind of hooked on this hobby. I’ve done over a dozen of the patterns and my wall looks pretty cool.

I think that my wife is silently thinking that enough is enough. But this truly is an art that a notably unartistic guy can do. Way to go Lora Irish. If you have more pattern books, I’ll buy them. Bryan.

Ahban tell you my opinion on this product as I was eagerly awaited because I do I need to use in my works. Unfortunately, this product I have not got so far, and therefore I did not see the contents of this product and I can not say my opinion in it.

I bought these as a gift. They are packaged with brown string and come in a pack of three. Really cute. Good quality.

3 Different Vintage McCall’s Sewing Pattern Designs. The back of the notebook looks like the back of a sewing pattern envelope. The notebook pages are not white, they are more similar in color to a sewing pattern.

Two of the notebooks have lined pages with a button image on the top of each page. One notebook has blank pages except for a design on the corner that looks like the cutting lines of a pattern. The three notebooks come tied together with twine and are approx the size of a sewing pattern envelope.

These would make a great gift for a seamstress, fashionista, etc.

Notebooks with a fashion and the pattern’s on the back. I love the idea. I remember the style. I don’t know what to use the notebooks for yet.

This book is basically the entire 2 binder set of Oxmoor House’s “Best Loved Quilts” (popular mail subscription from 1990s) all in one bound book. It is rare to find a complete set. I did a little research and found out that Oxmoor House put this book together later on.

I plan on getting the binding cut off, pages hole punched, and putting it in a binder for ease of use.

My God, wouldn’t it be nice to live long enough to make all those quilts. I’m going to start onr soon. EASY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS………

I could not put it down! so much information! so beautiful and with the patterns! Can’t wait to use! There is also information on each one how to quilt it and pictures how, i am new at it and it is perfect for me!.

Whether you are a beginner or advance level, this book will open your eyes and mind even further. I have never come across a pattern cutting book that is so well explained in plain English. For me, the best part is the Inspirational Pattern Cutting and The Bias Tube near the end of the book.

Then there is ‘A Piece of Cloth: The Blank Canvas’ which reminds me of zero waste pattern cutting and Subtraction Pattern Cutting, Dennic has indeed covered a very wide aspect of pattern cutting. Highly, highly recommended indeed!.

Easy to read. Not overwhelming with too much info. Pictures are very detailed. Its like watching a video. Cant wait to draft my first pattern.
