20 Best Cheap Alcohol Markers (2022 Updated)

I bought these markers seeking a better quality version alcohol marker that had refillable qualities and nib changing options for a reasonable price. I was impressed with this brand holding up to that standard.

The colors are rich and vibrant and blend able although don’t go by the sample end cap of what the color would be. The marker doesn’t really bleed but wil show through the other side of the paper depending on what paper your using.

It’s always a good practice to have a test sheet to experiment on colors and blends before doing your original and don’t really use it for double sided pages like a coloring book. I only got three colors variations packets and haven’t got to needing to refill they seem to a have long life.

And the nibs that comes with the markers are good too although I like the packaging says that you can get other options. All in all a great marker!.

These alcohol markers are very reasonably priced and blend so well. This package contains six markers designed to blend with each other. The selection of neutrals in the package are browns and blue-grays, black and a clear blender marker.

Ideally I would like warm grays as well, but I understand why they chose black & a blender instead. Comparable to Copic markers at a fraction of the cost.

If you are interested in something like Copic markers but the price is steep to experiment with, this is a nice way to play. They are also nice to do adult coloring or other art projects for a reasonable price.

I like the fact that you can buy color sets and shading sets, I wish they had more orange shades.

Spectrum noir give a great product, fantastic colours in a huge range, great to use, non streaking, even tone blendable colour. Nice firm tips, both the detail and the filler tip are accurate and precise.

Cant praise them enough. I am a professional illustrator and these are the best markers I have tried particularly the skin tones.

Seemed great at first, until a week later when the ink had decided to run out, disgusted at the price I paid for these for them to last a week! I have had pens less than half the price of these last me years! I tried contacting The Works regarding this issue as I am not someone who can afford to just throw money away like that, I expect a refund!!.

My wife wanted these so I bought them for her. She is very particular when it comes to pens, pencils and markers she uses when crafting, designing or just coloring and I have watched many various sets go in a box never to be used again.

She really enjoys these and uses them frequently. I myself have been impressed with the work she does using these pens when it comes to their rich colors and shading ability. Very nice.

My daughter just loves these. Awesome range of colours. Fine tips and wide tips. Perfect for the student who is doing art.

I bought these for my daughter and she just loves to draw and color. She was the one who found these markers and told me how much she would love to have them. When they came, she immediately used them on an outfit she had drawn and was totally amazed at the colors and how nicely they looked.

I LOVE the colors. I do have one caution specifically for those folks who color in adult coloring books. The markers will go through most pages so even if you put a blank page behind your work, if it was a double sided page (that is one which has what you are working on now and one on the underside of your current work) the work on the reverse side will be marked with the image you are currently coloring.

Other than that caution, I cannot say enough good things. The range of color in the box even includes a few skin tones. If you are looking for “tools” that work every time you pick them up, want color saturation (pencils are not as vivid), don’t care for the crayon waxy mess (yes crayons have more colors BUT.

) this product is EXACTLY what you’re looking for.

I love the intense colors of these markers even though they bleed through the paper in my coloring books. Having a choice of a fine marker or brush for coloring large areas definitely makes it easier to do a neat coloring job!_x000D_ _x000D_ I was very impressed with delivery from Signals.

I ordered about 11 days before I had to have the items for Christmas gifts. This would ordinarily be more than enough time but this year the delivery services were stretched. FedEx delivered my package from Signsls on the SUNDAY before Christmas – in plenty of time.

I purchased these markers to do adult coloring books. The tips are still too big for the fine lines in most books. They also bleed through the paper. I also had trouble with them smearing. I would not recommend them for just coloring.

If you are doing some sort of scrap booking or art work, perhaps. I did not care for them and definitely not for the price.

Excellent markers with one of the broadest color ranges and arguably the best blending capability on the market. With refillable inks and replaceable nibs, these are also much more sustainable than other brands–meaning unless you damage the casing, you don’t really need to buy replacement markers as yours die out.

Budget Minded Tip: Using the proper paper is important for ensuring more use between refills. You don’t want a paper that’s super absorbent (generally heavy weight or thick papers) or it will suck the ink right out of it.

Find paper that’s best used with alcohol markers. Budget Minded Tip 2: Given these are alcohol based, they dry incredibly fast for smear free applications on paper, however, this also means that the longer the lid is off–the more product evaporates from the marker itself.

It helps to have your colors planned before you begin your project to ensure longer usage. Honestly, as with any medium, once you learn the proper techniques for using them, the only thing these markers will disappoint is your bank account.

Bonus tip for the parents of young aspiring artists who are trying to justify taking out a second mortgage to support their child’s dreams: If your child has the passion and drive for art, and they constantly journey down the path of self improvement (and have shown a solid understanding of respecting their equipment), these markers are a great investment and can be acquired individually, over time.

When it comes to art supplies, quality of the medium used makes a world of difference. Seriously, search for comparison projects using cheap supplies vs. expensive and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

I bought all the set of the 6 marker sets and find myself liking them. They blend beautifully just like the copics but without the copic price tag. They are also compatible and blend well when I use them with the copics.

So that means that you can use both the spectrum noir and copics brand together. So far the shades of the spectrum noirs are limited when you are buying the set of 6 packs. You have to go online to buy the skin and hair colors separately.

for the price, it is ok. the only few things that I do not like about the spectrum noir is that it is not the same weight as the copics, they feel lighter and not as soundly made as the copics. If you have not experienced copics then you will be ok and not miss that weight and strong construction design of the copics.

The other thing that I find a bit daunting is that the cap on the spectrum noir does not come off easily. and when I pull on it, the whole nib comes off with the cap. It is not as a strongly designed as the copics.

Again, if you are not used to the copics then you will not miss it. To me the affordable price outweighs the design of the pen. It still dispenses great bright and vivid colors like those of the copics and well as it is blend able with copics.

Overall, I do not care for the design, I do however, love the price and affordability of it all. It still does the job and I am happy with that.

Great alcohol marker, but cap doesn’t fit onto other end of marker, so I have to lay it down then find it. I do prefer the cap stay with the marker. (otherwise I would have given it a 5 star) Also, note that Joanne’s color swatches are NOT at all indicative of the true colors of the pens.

Go to Spectrum Noir’s website and download the marker color chart to order from, by number. In fact, when I made my own sheet, the colors aren’t even a great match to their color sheet, but I suspect that also has to do with paper and time the nib is on the paper and pressure.

Still the color chart from their site is much closer than the pretty but unreal Joanne’s swatches. Also, wait till they are on sale. Otherwise too pricey. Refillable is great, tho!.

I enjoy these markers and that they are a better budget item for me than Copics. However, the color swatches above do NOT match the real color. This isn’t just a Joanns issue as some of the marker cap colors themselves are not the same as the real color.

I consulted the Spectrum Noir online color chart and also have printed my own. Also be warned that just because marker numbers are successive in order that they will be as far as a smooth color spectrum/ transition goes.

ie, TB1 is darker than TB2. I will be creating my own color chart based on the actual colors.

Alcohol markers are unbelievable first of all and Spectrum Noir are the best around. Price is good, having markers that last is good, having intense lasting color is great. The fact that you have a broad stroke along with the small focused stroke is very versatile.

The only thing I was a little miffed about was that some of the markers in the 96 pack didn’t work. Purchased elsewhere, this was given attention and they made right.

I just bought 2 packs today, the turquoise and the purple! I love that there are 2 sides, one for fine lines and one for huge block text. The colors are really nice, some are traditional and thick and others are very subtle and pastel like.

They blend really well, and I was surprised that they don’t smell bad at all! I like using them as highlighters sometimes but really more for drawing and doing cartoons.

They are really good if you want a cheap but good quality product. I tried other brands as well and as for my is only a private hobby I’m absolutely pleased with this brand, and the price is what make me love them, I already own the lights shades and now the pastels.

And I will buy the other packs. They aren’t as good as the expensive brands because in some papers the ink make some white spots, that’s why I said that they are good for beginners to start practicing with alcohol based pens, and for people who actually don’t mind some imperfections every now and then.

But as I said for me are perfect!.

I liked the price of these markers because alcohol based markers are not cheap. However some of these markers may not be alcohol based as some of them have a chemical smell. This is also an American company but the markers were still made in China.

I like what I bought but I don’t think I would order these again.

I got the pack of pink tone markers, and I’m absolutely in love with them! The only thing I’ve noticed is that they have a very wet ink, and even on my multimedia paper, a little pilling occurs, and they bleed over the lines a little as they dry.

I’ve used them about four times now, so maybe it’s just from being new, we’ll see.

they are dull. I thought they would be more vibrant and have a deeper hue. they were reduced but to me the quality was just average,

I attempted to purchase at the store, they had no idea what I was talking about, nor were they willing to look online. I explained Copics are online and could you help me with that. NOPE… I attempted to purchase online by the color number, nope it comes back as “we think you mean” the completely incorrect color.

Trying to search by clicking on all the colored circles is both time consuming and ridiculous.

I love Copic Sketch Markers and their ability to glide on my Copic friendly paper as well as blend well with a number of colors. Plus, when Michael’s has them on sale I get the added benefit of loading up on refills and nibs.

I have no problem with the Copic Sketch Marker, Greens. It is just fine I like it, However, two of the markers had lost their lids in transit and were dried out. I would love to have them too. I noticed the return address on the bag was your Returns address.

I am collecting the sets and this was my newest one. I really enjoyed the softer colors and having a black in this set. The tips on these are perfect for any coloring need. It’s just pure joy to color with Altenew alcohol markers.

They blend well and the outcome is always gorgeous. This is my 6th set and I couldn’t be happier.

I love all of the markers that Altenew offers. It’s great to be able to coordinate with the stamp pads, paints, and papers that match one another and the quality is excellent. I’m working on collecting them all and you should do the same if you haven’t started buying them already.

They are great. (And the jet black marker in this set comes in handy for lots of things as well!!).

I have been purchasing these small sets to complement the Primary Essential set I purchased when it was released. These blue color variations are amazing. From the soft ARTIC color to the vibrant SAPPHIRE, they all look great with OCEAN WAVES AND DESERT NIGHT (these last 2 from the primary set).

They are easy to use and excellent creating shadows. With just one marker you can intensify the color and create different variations. You can also combine them to create new colors. I have also used them to create interest, by just touching the stamp a little bit, after stamping the main color.

Although they have dual tip, I mostly use the brush side because the color in the fine tip is more intense. I’m still learning :).

These dual-tip alcohol markers are the real deal! They come in twelve awesome colors! Each marker has a broad tip and a fine tip. These work great on any type of project. You can use them on paper, glass, wood, plastic, and even metal! They are ideal for shading and layer, which is what my son is really into right now.

I love everything about this skin set! The markers feel great in the hand, there is the color number and name on both marker lids AND the barrel so no mix ups! The brush nib is excellent to color with, great flexibility but not flimsy.
