20 Best Cheap Beef Jerky (2022 Updated)

I could care less about points or anything. Honest 100% review. I’ve been on the search for the best jerky for years. I’ve probably tried over 100 brands from across the country. Local brands, national brands.

etc. This Old Fashioned jerky is top tier. My #1 at this point. I’m eating like 1-2 bags a week easily. It’s becoming an addiction. If you like real meat, real dry jerky, real good flavor. this is it.

Look no further. Even the little bit of fat on some of the strips is great. I’ll probably be signing up for auto ship soon.

This was likely the best jerky I’ve ever had. The dryness it has makes it a much better snack than the usual moist stuff you find in grocery stores. That being said, I was pretty disappointed that the “hot & spicy” was nowhere to be found.

I went through an entire 1 lb. bag, and not once did I get the spicy kick I was looking forward to when I talked myself into buying this. Again, this was VERY good jerky. I only wish it was spicy since I’m on a diet where the Peppered (my usual choice across all jerky brands) would not work due to added sugars and spice is my go-to flavor choice when sweet is not an option.

I’ll probably give it another chance, but if its lacking the spice again I might just get the Original so I don’t fake myself out again. I don’t think I can ever go back to moist jerky after trying this.

I would definitely reccomend this to jerky lovers even despite my misgivings.

I never thought I’d be writing a fan letter to jerky but I have a medical issue that basically translates to being pre-insulin resistant so jerky has always been a good protein snack. I decided to save some money by ordering bulk jerky from Amazon and discovered your products.

I’m NOT saving money but I don’t care because I’ve got an AMAZING and yummy protein snack now. The protein:carbs ratio is ridunculous and I can eat it as late at night as I want because it’s low fat.

Also, I realized how much I hated all the flavors the non-keto jerky came in because I get Original. (Well, yeah, it’s horribly high in sodium but I’m a salt fiend so I don’t care. ) My only question is whether you have any plans to make lower carb beef sticks.

Obviously, those won’t be as low-fat but I would buy a lot more if they were lower carb. (My husband seems to be eating the beef sticks when I’m not looking anyway. ).

I’d been looking for low carbohydrate, low calorie, low fat snacks, and this ticked all the boxes. It’s also a good source of protein, and is high in many vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B12, folat (B9), iron, and zinc.

I’d never tried jerky before, but was surprised at how much I liked, and enjoyed it. You don’t get very much, and I know that’s a problem for some people, but I think it’s enough for a snack, to keep you going.

I had some packs with good-sized pieces, and other packs with lots of little shavings, which was a little disappointing, but it was still just as tasty, and enjoyable. Also, some people are complaining about the price, but this IS high quality, and, in my humble opinion, you can definitely taste the difference.

Yes, it can be a little expensive for a small snack, but I feel that this one of those things, that is worth paying a little extra for. Like the difference between a poor quality steak, and a good quality one.

You CAN taste the difference! Plus, I would rather eat this, with the benefits I mentioned at the start, and feel satisfied, than eat something which is loaded with sugar and fat, and just want more.

And to be honest, even from me, a chocoholic, I actually found this more enjoyable.

Really held off buying these over a year for the horrible reviews. But I finally decided to take a chance. I wasnt impressed with the small amount in each pack but the taste was about what I expected or comparable to their other jerky.

Still so nervous trying them after reading all these reviews!! We really needed protein being shut in without ability to drive to the store so it was the best option I could find. It seemed decent but I only got one pack, so I went to order another couple packs for family to try and tell me what they think.

and the price was increased by over 2 a pack!! This was only in a month!! Not to mention I put it on subscribe and save and they dont lock in your initial price, so theyll run it through and charge me anything they want, this is so wrong!! SO WRONG!! I paid about 15 a month ago per pack.

Theyve nearly 18 each now!! I immediately canceled my order, no way!! Im willing to give this a try and a good review if justified, when its a fair price and quality, etc. improves. Wed even be willing to sample your products and give honest feedback! My family all love jerky and would eat more from your company if you guaranteed it wasnt old, scraps that fell off the machines and other things people on here are claiming which I really hope is wrong.

Little pieces dont bother us but quality meat, handled with love and upmost cleanliness are paramount. Another plus would be local meat without hormones or full of antibiotics etc. As organic and natural as possible is best.

Be known as the ones who Put the love and care back into food production! Please notify us of any big coupons, samples etc. If things with pricing get resolved, we would like to try 2-4+ packs total per month and if you ask for a good price point for bulk discount wed be happy with about 10-12 per pack of this weight or a bit larger as the little bags could use a bit more for a snack size.

Not tender. Not tender at all. I usually go for Jack Link’s Sweet and Hot flavor. But I decided to try something different today. Don’t want to get tired of a favorite, right? I thought I would try this one, because the best pieces of the Sweet and Hot flavor are the softest, tenderest pieces.

I thought this bag would be full of that texture — just nice, soft pieces. I was so wrong. It is not *bad* jerky. But tender, it is not. It is, in fact, tougher than their normal jerky! Very chewy, and prone to sticking in your teeth.

And overly salty/smoky, too — like it was cooked down too much and got too intense in flavor. I don’t expect Jack Link’s to be premium, or anything. Just a good, reliable jerky for a good price. If it wasn’t marketed as being Extra Tender, I would have just thought of it as being an okay jerky — not one I liked enough to get again, but not one I would toss either.

But the fact that it is supposed to be Extra Tender leads to Extra Disappointment.

I can sum it up for you. umdidliumptious! EXCEPT for the teriyaki beef jerky! Wanted to give it a whirl. Our son, husband and I like the bacon jerky, Our son, grand-daughter, husband and I LOVE the beef and cheese sticks, Our daughter, and her family, son, and I like the beef jerky.

Do you see a pattern here? I seem to LOVE the majority of your products! Our son, too! I bought a bunch of your choice products as family gifts and a couple of stocking stuffers for each loved one. Maybe I should leave some products and a glass of milk by the fireplace for Santa! ( A good commercial, I think!!!) Protein is better for a stocky old guy than cookies!.

If you read any of my reviews, you will see they all point to my daughter’s taste. This is no exception. I don’t know where she first had beef jerky, but she shocked me when she asked me to buy it for her.

I was even more surprised when she asked me to pack it for her for snack for school and was skeptical that she would actually eat it. Well, joke is on me! This is heavily in the snack rotation. It’s a good source of protein and I just make sure I watch the sodium intake for her for the rest of the day when I do give them to her.

Oh, and did I mention, it HAS to be this brand, and it can ONLY be the original.

I am rating the teriyaki flavor beef jerky. I love anything teriyaki. This beef jerky is SO SALTY! Yes, beef jerky normally is salty and then teriyaki sauce is salty. I understand, but other brands I can eat, this went into the trash.

Even my husband who loves salt could not eat this. The texture is soft so those that don’t like hard jerky can eat this, but again too salty for me.

Extremely moist. Never hard. Easy to eat. Quick snack for protein. Extremely healthy. Nothing could improve the product. I am a repeat customer.

Great snack! My family love them they’re super good. I like the idea of individually packaging. Perfect for my lunch for work or my kids lunches. Delicious! 👌😋

OMG! This beef jerky is FANTASTIC! Even though I was full from lunch and didn’t want anything else to eat, when the jerky arrived I just had to try it and I couldn’t believe how good it tasted from the get go.

It was tender, flavorful and not too salty. I ate the entire bag in almost one setting and had to put it out of my sight in order to not eat the entire bag. Unfortunately putting it out of sight didn’t stop me from finishing it later that night.

For anyone considering buying this brand of beef jerky I would highly recommend it. It is the best jerky I’ve had in a long time. Please enjoy yourself.

I have eaten a lot of different jerkies over my life time and this is the best store bought in a bag beef jerky I’ve had. Very good flavor and meaty, not a lot of the tough tendon that you get in other jerky.

I have had the hot-n-spicy which is hot and excellent, the regular, and the peppered. I like all 3 but my favorite is the hot-n-spicy and peppered. The peppered is got some zip and has lots of pepper which makes it great!!!!!! Please keep up the good work and I will continue to buy your jerky.

Old Trapper Old Fashioned Beef Jerky has been my go to for a while now. The meat is always moist and tender compared to the many others I have tried. The flavor is great as stays with the meat when chewing it.

I have been buying this brand and flavor for many years. This is one I have to hide from my son or he will eat it all before I get a chance to enjoy it. I recommend this one for sure.

This stuff is the best. The Oberto peppered thin is even better. Don’t know where jerky took a bad turn and became all soft and chewy and generic tasting, not a fan. I’ve tried a lot of “cowboy dry” beef jerky, there are some specialty makers out there that are decent but Oberto really got it right on the flavor and texture scale.

Thin style makes chewing the drier jerky a little easier, so if you have sensitive teeth you’re in luck as you probably won’t lose a tooth trying to bit into these tasty slabs. It’s dry, but easy to chew.

The flavor is smokey and full without being overly salty or sweet, hot or chemical tasting. So good. Only problem is I can’t keep the bags around long enough.

Who doesn’t love bacon? And who doesn’t love beef jerky? The two together really do work! Although I wouldn’t say it’s a jerky texture, it’s more just like eating room temperature bacon. It’s more like “soft cooked” bacon, not crispy bacon.

It was salty, but had a really great smoky taste. I also felt like you got a big portion as well. I got this on clearance at a gas station, it was only $2. I bought two, wish I would have bought more.

So although this isn’t as good as freshly cooked bacon, it’s good for a salty meaty snack. If this was full price it can be a bit expensive, so I feel like buying the precooked bacon in the refrigerated section would be just as good.

Omg. So delicious! I tend to favor Oberto meat products and their jerky is all top shelf, bar none! The peppered thin style jerky is delicious and just “jerkified” enough to make it a challenge to chew (which is great since it keeps me from devouring the entire package in 3 seconds flat.

) it’s average price for jerky but would be worth every penny even if it were the most expensive option on the shelf. Will definitely purchase again. Oh boy! Oberto. :).

I love this beef jerky. The meat is very moist, tender and delicious. Also, it has the perfect amount of seasoning too. It’s marinated just right. I’ve tried a couple brands, but this one is definitely in my rotation that I always like to keep stocked up.

Some brands are really not good and the meat is soo dry. This one is the exact opposite and is excellent. .

I’ve always liked jerky, but sometimes the pieces are just tooooo tough. I usually buy turkey or pork jerky, I’ve never really cared for beef or beef jerky, but my son bought it just to try it and offered me a piece.

It was love at first bite! This beef is SO tender, it reminds me of cube steak. It’s a little bit spicy, but I never noticed the red pepper flakes until I was almost done with the bag, and I dont like spicy foods.

It’s deliciously seasoned and not overpowering with a salty taste. It just taste really good. All these reasons are why I’ll buy it again, but the word that I use most often when talking about it is tender, so I guess thats the most impressive feature to me, it’s incredibly tender.

Horrible taste, outdated product that had expired before getting to me. Jerky should have a “best buy date” of several years, but the product I received, that was not the case. Hopefully, when I order more, it will be a fresh batch.

I never let us run out of Sweet Baby Ray’s sauce! This stuff is everything! It’s sweet with a kick of spice! It’s thick and has a tang to it as well. It’s hitting all the flavor spots on your tongue to make everything taste wonderful! Great on chicken! My favorite though, pulled pork! Slow cook a pork roast until it falls apart, then pull it into strips with 2 forks! Add a whole bottle of Sweet Baby Ray’s.

Serve with onion hamburger buns! Mmmmm. Your family will love it!.

Just about any flavor of Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue sauce is the best bottled Barbecue sauce you can by. But my favorite by far is this Hickory and Brown Sugar. Got a little bit of tang and smokiness from the hickory, with just the right amount of sweetness from the sugar.

Goes great on ribs, chicken, pulled pork, and so much more! Even basted some grilled shrimp skewers with this and it was amazing! You are only limited to your imagination.

I eat jerky all the time, I like to try new kinds, but this one was kinda weird. It tasted good, the weird part was. That it got moldy. I opened a package and ate about half of the jerky, put what was left in an air tight bag so it wouldn’t get TOO dry.

And it wasn’t but a couple days later, their was a ridiculous amount of mold all over the jerky. The product was no where near expired, Which had me concerned that there was bacteria in the packaging.

I make jerky all the time , I love jerky I know my stuff lol. This is not a good product. Chewy like eating a shoe, taste kinda weird , and overall just really freaking hard to eat. Every bag of this jerky I get is like this too.

That’s why I don’t eat this brand , it’s dog cheeks. Bronco Billy’s and wild bills are great probably go with those.

I purchased the Steak bites. I found the cracked black pepper bites to be quite tasty with just the right amount of pepper. The meat tasted pretty good , a bit different ? But maybe due to the smoking , or marinate used.

I thought it was pretty good. The meat went down well with a hard cider , or beer.

Don’t taste much heat, but sweet flavor is great! Love the idea of a raspberry flavor, unique and tasty. On taste quality and texture, it’s a 5 star jerky. Softer cut but not too soft. My second favorite jerky so far.

Beats Righteous Felon BBQ and 2nd to Cattaneo Bros Chipotle in my opinion but can’t really compare the two cuz it’s a sweet chipotle verse a spicy chipotle. Get a bag!.

The Think Jerky Grass-Fed beef jerky sesame teriyaki, is really tasty the flavors really hit your mouth in a tangy mix, but for $4. 59 at Big Lots, (maybe they’re cheaper other places) and for the amount they put into it 2.

20 ounces, it’s a lot of money for little pay out. My dad and I had two pieces and this was what was left in the bag. If you love a low carb snack these are the right fit for you at only 14 carbs for the entire bag.

My scouts love this for breakfast, snack, and while hiking. I’ve tried it on a camp out to eat with eggs and had a quick mess free breakfast that was really good. Not crunchy or crispy, but still firm enough.

Tastes like bacon as expected. Refrigerate if you’re going to have it opened more than a few days as moisture and bacteria from the air could cause it to mold after opening. The longest we have used it after opening without refrigeration was 4 days, but by then we’re opening a new pack.

Oberto’s Beef Jerky is my go-to airplane snack. I try to keep a bag of this in my backpack in case I am running late and don’t have time to grab something to eat at the airport. The airline food is usually terrible, so I always try to eat before a flight or bring on some food.

The Oberto’s is the ultimate backup. Reasonably healthy and tastes great. Stays fresh for a long time in my bag so I always know I won’t have to go hungry stuck in my seat. Teriyaki is my preferred flavor but the Natural is my second choice.

My daughter is 10 and a picky eater but she likes Jerky, so we been exploring the many options available here and I think we are done tasting. This one is OUR FAVORITE! “clean” texture, not dead dry, the right amount of spice and a touch of fruit makes for a “sweet” treat that she will love to find in her stocking!!! THANK YOU.

I recently started working out and wanted to add more protein to my daily nutrition. I have never been a fan of beef jerky and never imagined ever buying / consuming in my lifetime. After some research I came across Think Jerky and saw it was better than most jerky brands out there given its low sodium content so I decided to give it a try.

The jerky tastes amazing! The texture is wonderful, not stringy, almost soft / light in its own unique type of way. The flavor is great, if you love something sweet / slightly spicy that doesn’t overwhelmingly taste like meat this is a must! It is packed with a ton of protein, great taste, and a great price given its value.

Would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a snack with a lot of protein and great taste / quality.

This jerky is a staple in my household. My entire family from 2 to 40-years-old absolutely craves this delicious treat of dehydrated meat! When I pull out a bag that I’ve stashed in the cupboard, the family shrieks with delight! It’s often placed in lunchboxes as a protein-packed carnivore’s dream and gives the neighboring children something to envy at the school lunch table.

The taste is delicious, and the bag has a large quantity. For its price it is fine. They are soft and taste like natural meat. I love. Like all jerky they have a lot of sodium, so you just have to control the amount when eating because there are a lot of them.

After 2 days after opening them, you should put them in the refrigerator to keep them fresh, because they can be easily damaged.

This is my favorite of all time jerky. It’s soft and easy to chew. I live off this stuff. Lol

I purchased the 10oz bag of original jerky and paid $12. 50 for it. When trying the first piece I could not believe how bad it tasted. It reminded me of what dead horse meat might taste like. I’ve made my own beef jerky years ago and have an appreciation of what it’s suppose to taste like and yours doesn’t even come close.

I use to buy this in 1lbs bag at my local Walmart. I can’t find it now, I don’t want a 10oz bag. So lead me to where I can buy the pound bags. My favorite is the peppered , but original will make do.

This has a good flavor however it is not hot enough to be considered hot. The ingredients aren’t the best. It’s still tasty but could taste better. Probably wouldn’t buy again to be honest. I wouldn’t recommend this.

This is my most favorite jerky ever. All the flavors are amazing. It’s super dry , super salty and so good !!! I have my friends from Kentucky send it to me all the time and when I go up there 2x a year I stock up !! It’s that amazing ! The owner of the company is also a super awesome guy.

This is the best beef jerky I’ve found so far. I like the texture flavor of this particular one more than others. I would make a less spicy option because I love the spice but the mild is just really spicy for me.

My experiences are always great with Wicked Cutz! Slight problem. I sent the Sriracha Bacon Jerky to my nephew as a gift/apology. As I’d much prefer to retain my Digestive System & keep all of my vital organs exactly where they are, my 43+ year old body won’t allow me to try something with that amount of heat & spice to it.

However, the aforementioned nephew shot me a text about the item under discussion. Said, AND I QUOTE , “This Jerky Bussin!” I sent him the Sampler last year, & when he got to the Sriracha, which he was eating at work, he mentioned that it was so good that he made others taste it! As my heart will ALWAYS be with the Maple Bacon (in the 4-pack of Mega Bags mind you), I can safely say that Wicked Cutz is batting a thousand as far as my family is concerned! When I first saw “Bacon”, I thought to myself “nah”. But this one ended up being my fav!! I love bacon and my wife loves sweets, so it makes the perfect snack. The texture was pretty solid too; not too hard, not too soft.

Probably really good with a morning cup of coffee. I’m not sure though, I haven’t tried it yet.

I like the extra spicy things. I thought I would try a different jerky. This jerky really gives you a kick. As soon as I opened the package, I could smell the heat in it. The heat is even more present when you put a piece in your mouth.

If you like heat, try this jerky.

This hands down my most favorite beef jerky so far and I have tried a lot of beef jerky’s. I would love to try their other flavors. For the price it is a good amount of jerky. Some might find it pricey but it is worth every cent.

I love my beef jerky on the more dry side and this is it. The only thing I have is I’m not sure if it’s from the liquid smoke they use for flavor but eating too much does coat the mouth with a different sort of feeling/texture.

Drink some water or something though. It’s not even that big of a thing that it still deserves 5 stars. Usually a bag of jerky doesn’t last me past a day but this one was so good and fulfilling flavor wise that it lasted me a week.

Plus it’s filled so much there was no way I could eat it all in one sitting. I highly recommend this jerky, already told a few friends about it.

Im not much of a jerkey fan but im loving this beef jerkey! It has amazing flavor and its not so tough that you cant eat it. It is a little pricey but well worth the money. There are 3 different flavors that Im aware of.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I hadn’t ever tried Chomps although I’ve definitely been aware of the brand but since I only buy jerky occasionally I just hadn’t ever specifically sought out their products.

I really appreciate that there’s no added sugar and that the sticks are only 90 calories! It tastes good and while the texture could be slightly softer for my personal preference, I know that some people prefer a little more chewiness so YMMV.

Overall I’m happy to have finally tried at least something from Chomps and I wouldn’t hesitate to try other flavors going forward.
