20 Best Cheap Bike Saddle (2022 Updated)

If you are a frequent biker, don’t buy this! because the tip of the saddle hits the side of your thigh when your back is bent a little bit. This saddle is designed for cruise bikes meaning that your back should be completely straight all the time.

The use can be that you wanna bike once a week and you want to be completely upright. But if you are a frequent biker that use your bike for daily commutes, it’s very common for your back to be bent a little, and I think the commute bike seat of Schwinn might work for you.

My Serfas Super Cruiser bike seat had served me well but it had finally gotten so torn up that I couldn’t justify not replacing it any longer. While I was shopping I saw a Schwinn cruiser bike seat and as soon as I picked it up I knew it was going home with me.

The saddle was so generously wide there was no way any part of my rear would be falling off it. Every part of the saddle was filled with “soft foam” padding. Soft foam padding that gave just enough, that I knew it was going to hold up and not end up letting me sink into the saddle till I could feel the springs.

Checking out the package I discovered it had an “Elastomer Suspension” that would provide a smoother ride. The cover, which was amazingly soft, was weather resistant and breathable to keep me cool and dry.

It was easy to install and when I sat on it, it was like I was sitting on a comfy chair. Or as my husband said, when I excitedly had him try it, “This is like a sofa on a bike post”. He measured it to be 4.

5 inches thick, a little more than 13 inches wide and 11 inches long. I went out for a ride and was amazed at how I had just assumed my previous bike seat was still giving me a great ride. The new seat was more comfortable than it had looked in the store.

Bumps in the road, that I had cringed about, were, now, not even noticeable. Even though the saddle is so wonderfully soft, it is still firm, I didn’t feel like I was sinking in, sliding back and forth or moving side to side.

I tried it on a dirt path that I generally avoid and it was like riding on a sidewalk. Because it is so much more comfortable and, in turn relaxing and enjoyable, I have been riding more than I used to.

I had a couple of my friends make fun of my huge padded seat. Then they tried it, stopped making fun of me and one of them has the same seat now. I expected to pay more for a cruiser seat that offers this level of comfort while riding.

Especially for the quality. The metal base is solid and the soft seat cover is breathable, as promised. I accidentally left it out in the rain once, dried it off with a towel and it was fine. I am so glad I found this seat and took a chance on it.

It is always wonderful when a simple purchase has a big impact. Especially when that impact is me enjoying riding my bike, more.

I figured out why this is the best seat for me and for so many others too, hence the many great reviews. I have been using the Planet Bike ARS Standard Saddle for three years now riding recreationally 100 KM on weekends mainly and some weekdays.

This is the most comfortable seat I have used so far including the Brooks B17 Standard which I will compare with later. In my opinion, most of the saddles available are too narrow, made for slim riders with narrow sit-bone distances or designed for sleek looks and light weight first before comfort.

I measured my sit-bones to be 15 cm apart and they fall within the width of the Planet Bike ARS Standard Saddle which is 18 cm wide. Also, the nose of this saddle is narrow and functional enough to aid in controlling the bicycle.

The relief channel is one of the largest out there so blood flow is not restricted to our private parts. The seat is also water resistant unlike leather saddles. And speaking of leather saddles. Compared to the Brooks B17 standard saddle which I own too, this Planet Bike ARS Standard Saddle is better for me.

Although the width of the Brooks B17 Standard (17. 5 cm) and this Planet Bike ARS Standard saddle (18 cm) is almost the same, the problem with the B17 is that there is a metal support railing under the leather very near where my sit bones rest, and hence I get a sore spot directly on the sit-bone area after long rides.

But because my weight was put on the sit-bones, my private parts were still okay while using the B17. On the Planet Bike ARS Standard saddle the entire 18 cm width is available, but on the Brooks B17, the useable width for comfort is several centimeters less than the reported 17.

5 cm width. So in conclusion, if you don’t support your weight on the sit-bones, your weight is put on all the soft spots between your legs leading to tingling, numbness, and pain. The Planet Bike ARS Standard Saddle is wide enough to support my sit-bone dimensions, provides a wide and deep relief channel in the middle for the times when we ride more on the nose of the saddle, and it is water-resistant, and relatively inexpensive.

Comfort and health is the priority now and I am writing this review because I am really happy with this product.

i’ve been using the ars for about 7 years now. it’s a nice comfortable ride for me but factoring in that i’m using this to commute and not travel longer distances than 30 miles needs to be factored in for those that do ride longer and further.

my negative though the is faux leather. i get it, with the price paid for it but i would rather it be leather than the looser fabric. either way, it’s still a nice gel padded ride that makes the difference in my commute.

Affordable sprung bicycle saddles are a somewhat rare bird these days, and this one comes with a nice vinyl top instead of weird Neoprene or Spandex. Similar to the original equipment saddle on Specialized’s Globe Carmel 3 from a few years back.

Easily fixes the problem of decent bikes that, for some riders, would otherwise be unridable because of a saddle that’s too hard, too long, or too narrow. Pros include the massive width, the spring suspension and spring web, and having a reasonable amount of padding for being able to sit hard on the saddle without much squirming.

Cons include the large overall height (not ideal if your frame is already on the tall side for your PBH), and the fact that the rails are somewhat short.

I can’t believe how comfortable this seat it. It has changed my riding habits. I have a mountain bike and it had a stock seat that was ok to me. After about an hour of riding my but would start hurting.

With this new seat I rode for over three hours with no soreness. I can’t believe that this seat made such a big difference. I have started to ride more often and ride alot further with this new seat.

My three year old spin bike only got an occasional dust off, was too uncomfortable to workout with due to the racing style bike seat. When I saw this I jumped on it—felt certain it was the solution to my problem.

It was, and is…perfect! The only thing I’d correct is the tool that comes with for assembly. Best you use your own tools, as the one you’ll receive looks like a ninja throw dart! :-/.

I purchased the Cloud-9 Cruiser Anatomic Saddle for my Aventon Pace 350, even though the original Aventon seat that comes with the bike is pretty nice. The Cloud-9 does offer a slight upgrade, though.

The “love canal” indentations make for a more comfortable riding experience, especially on long rides. I can go for 30 miles without any of the annoying “boy parts numbness” that typically sets in after and hour or two in the saddle.

My wife liked my Cloud-9 so much that she bought one for her own bike. She reports back that the saddle is equally comfortable for female riders. The only downside is the stitch & trim work. The material for the seat is fastened underneath by several big, ugly staples and the material has been trimmed sloppily, to say the least.

This is an odd place to cut corners, as the rest of the craftsmanship seems top notch. Granted, you can’t see the shoddy workmanship without actually removing the saddle from the bike, but you’d think they could do better than this.

The original Aventon seat, by way of contrast, offers solid craftsmanship all-around. But in the final reel, it’s the butt that makes the call, and mine say the Cloud-9 is more comfortable. And despite the poor trim work, it seems durable; I’m sure it will last many years.

This bike seat has everything going for it (wide, well padded, good quality), except those springs, IMO, could stand to be a bit “springy-er”. I weigh in at 215, and when I sit on the Cloud-9, the springs barely flex at all.

At least, not that I can tell. That being said, this is definitely a more comfortable seat than the one that came on my bike. I would say it is worth the money, but could be even more comfy if it weren’t so stiff.

Still glad I bought it, though. My wife got one, too, and likes it a lot.

We upgraded the seats on our e-bike with a Cloud 9 seats. Love them. What a difference. Nice cushioning for taking road bumps. I am still debating if we are going to need seat post suspension to add more shock absorbing.

Note: the seat mounting bar of the CLOUD 9 were a bit too wide and I could not attach them to the seat post. So we took the bikes to a professional bike shop and they were able to mount C9 securely on our RAdMission e-bikes.

I can’t say if it’s the most comfortable seat out there, but I can say it’s more comfortable than the factory seat that came on my new Giant mtb. This coming from a mid-40s guy just getting back into biking after lots of years.

It’s obviously more plush which causes it to sit taller on the seat/stem clamp. For this reason I had to cut about 3/4″ off my seat post to get it down where I need it. I’m 3 or 4 rides deep now and I like it.

When I saw this saddle in the posting, I thought- this appears to be designed actually right. So I ordered it and tried it. It DOES work. I had taken the saddle off my mountain to try on my road bike, ( it was better, but still lacking) so I put this new saddle on and NO MORE PAIN– I have just one thing to say THANK YOU FOR TAKING MY PAIN AWAY.

I havent had the seat long so I cant rate the long term, but I think the seat quality is low looking at how it is assembled. I dont expect it to last.

The subject of bike seats/saddle is a tough one. Each person is different and needs to find what works for them by either trying different seats or getting measured/fit at a shop and buying what they recommend.

It also requires time in the saddle. There is no way around this. I am a tall, big person and this is the most comfotable seat I have used so far. After 400 miles, it is still my fav. I tried the narrower, harder seats that all the narrow people recommend, but the pain never went away, even after weeks of riding.

I also tried the cheaper, soft seat from this same company, but it did not work quite well enough for me. This seat fits my frame well and protects me. It is comfortable enough for me to put 30 mile rides on without too much issue.

When I purchased my new bike I knew immediately I wanted a new saddle. I went to MEC and tested out numerous saddles and went online to read consumer reviews. This exact model was not in stock when I was testing but I had tried the classic and imaged this could be better yet.

Based off the reviews and price of this saddle I decided to purchase it. I wanted something light, comfortable for long rides and trails, weather proof and all without breaking the bank. My first impression was this saddle is very hard compared to my exectations.

After riding it a few times it has broken in a bit but still not as comfortable as I was expecting. I hope in the months to come it will break in more. It is very light, well constructed and feels of quality, breathes well and does not obstruct peddling.

The best part is I can spend hours on my bike and not get numb like I use to. Overall I am very happy with it and it is a good buy especially for the price.

Excellent quality, very comfy saddle. The bottom is happy on long trips, and that makes the ride so much more pleasurable.

The Daway C99 wide seat is definitely better than a regular mountain bike seat. It is far more comfortable on the buttocks after a long ride 1 hour plus. Definately would recommend for all mountain bike riders.

This has to be the most advanced bicycle seat out there. Comfort #1. Style #1. Quality #1. If you are looking for the best seat for your cruiser, look no further!

Comes in widths, which matters to me. Super comfortable for any length of ride. A bit long in the nose; sometimes snags shorts on techy stuff, but not often. Problem is both rails snapped off on a small drop.

WTB promptly replaced it. A few months later, the second seat lost a rail on a flat section of trail while pedalling. I hope the F35 uses better titanium. I’ll be looking for something more durable.

I have 125mm sit bones when in about 45 degree riding position which seems to be a little wide for most guys. I picke dup the Deva as a last previous year demo for real cheap, and so far it is my favorite saddle.

Over the past 6 years I have tried everything from $20-$330 saddles trying to find the magical saddle that never causes pain. However I kept coming back the the Deva. After about 4 years the plastic developed an annoying creaking sound, so I am now trying the new Koda to see how it compares to the Deva.

I am in no way upset about the sound since 4 years for a saddle that I beat up mountain biking is good enough for me. I haven’t had the Koda long enough to give a thorough review other than it is similar to the Deva but slightly shorter and more padded.

I’m still not sure if those are good qualities or not.

I had one of these WTB Rocket saddles in the past, and guess it went with one of my bikes that I sold. For me, the WTB line fits best. I don’t even consider anything else after years of using their saddles.

I was riding a WTB Speed, and it was a little too wide (came on the bike), so I ordered a new Rocket (medium), with titanium rails. With about forty miles on it so far, it’s feeling great. In those miles I made multiple stops and adjustments to get it right, and now it’s pretty dialed in for some longer rides.

The Speed was used with a cheap carbon post (0 offset). This Rocket is used with a budget aluminum post and is a slightly lighter combo, but rides better. I splurged on the saddle, so I had to save on the post for the time being, but couldn’t be happier.

I do miss that it doesn’t have ‘Rocket’ printed on the back anymore.

Terrific Saddle, finally solved my problem with my brand new bike. I had purchased a Specialized all carbon bike and the stock saddle was just killing me. I even paid and had the bike professionally fitted and was told to give the stock saddle “some time” to get used to.

After several months I finally through in the towel and could no longer take the pain. Note, I’ve been riding for over a decade and had never had this problem. Well, the feel of the bike completely changed when I switched out the saddle with the Bontrager, now it literally feels like butter.

The saddle is super comfortable and yet still light and sporty. I even went back to the bike fitter and had it fine tuned, the fitter was impressed with the saddle as well. I highly recommend giving this saddle a try, it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever had, especially for the money.

I bought this for my Diamond Back Over Mountain bike to replace one that was just plain uncomfortable. I used to work in a bike store, back in the days of leather brooks saddles being the go to one. We had a saying that either the rider or the seat would break in at 100 miles.

I honestly do not think it will take that long for this seat. I road for a little over an hour last Sunday morning and it felt pretty good for most of the trip. I would say the more I ride the more we will get along just fine.

Its comfortable from the get go and not too heavy. Looks good on my bike as well. I would recommend it and will buy another one for an old but good mountain bike I’m converting to a fixie when the time comes.

I bought a trek mountain bike and was using the Bontrager seat that it came with for the first month or so. And wow my butt was sore!! I didn’t want a huge cushy foam seat, but something a little more comfortable and with some pressure relief.

I tried this seat out, and it has been great. Paired with my padded bike shorts, I rarely have a sore butt anymore. This purchase was worth it.

I bought this saddle to replace a not very comfortable factory saddle on my upright commuter bike. It is very comfortable and a huge improvement over the factory saddle that allows me to enjoy my commute much more.

I like the simple, understated looks and low price – don’t have to worry about this saddle being stolen off the bike while it’s parked. My only complaint is that the vinyl is, as stated, waterproof – but the seams will allow water through, and the foam inside the saddle will absorb quite a bit of it, squishing it back out through the seam once you sit on the saddle.

Just have to cover it up when it rains. Overall, an excellent saddle at a price that is very hard to beat.

I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable this saddle was, considering its rock-bottom bargain price. I basically wanted something comfortable enough to replace my racing-style saddle on my Miele trail bike.

I did not wish to go overboard and spend upwards of $50 or more (for my 7-year old “beater bike”). This saddle was the perfect compromise between quality and price. As I’ve only had the saddle less than a week, I already noticed a great improvement in my riding comfort.

The saddle is great at absorbing the little shocks and bumps that you’d normally expect with riding in the city. Depending on your riding style, it might take a bit of adjusting before you can actually get the right balance for fit.

I preferred to keep mine adjusted at 180 degrees. If you’re on a budget but still want great comfort, buy it!.

Bought for girlfriend’s city hybrid bike. Bike rides very upright. You sit straight up with no lean forward. This may affect how effective the seat it. It does the job. Much softer than the seat that came with the bike.

Only had it for a week so can’t speak to the durability but it seems solid enough. For the price, you really can’t complain.

Seems like the seat will be fine when I get to use it. The seat is not compatible with our Retrospec folding bikes which we purchased about 8 years ago. The top of the seat post is to big for the bracket on the new seat.

I have ordered an aftermarket seat post that may correct the issue. Your website says “compatible with all Retrospec bikes”.

I’m definitely simply a recreational biker. I took it up during the pandemic as a way to get outside and exercise (lightly) with gyms closed. All that said I am very sensitive to bike seats and found most incredibly uncomfortable and not enjoyable to sit on.

This seat is INCREDIBLE and I debated adding it to my bike purchase and i’m 100% glad I did. I haven’t felt any discomfort sitting on it (even on longer rides) and that makes me want to bike more! I added it to the step through city bike and couldn’t be happier.

I bought the comfort seat and wrist guards from retrospec, and ask the local bicycle shop helping me with the seat changes. It works well. My new seat is super comfortable. I love it.

The Electra saddle is perfect for what we needed it to do. Comfortable for slow, upright riding on a fifties-era English three-speed. (It did not come with mounting hardware, and probably should have but fantastic deal for the money anyway.

I’ve been after a saddle that’s comfortable for a bad back with a damaged spinal cord, the Electra saddles were OK but I needed bigger & more suspension. This saddle may seem expensive but when riding my bike & this saddle takes out all the bumps of the roads & off road routes, then it’s worth every penny & looks fantastic on the bike too.

This is a sturdy enough seat. seems well made and is moderately(not incredibly) comfortable. Its definitely the kind of seat that can tolerate a little weather as well. If you want a seat that will cushion your back side really, really well, this isnt the seat for you.

But if you just need a well made seat and use your bike more for exercise than joy cruising then this is a good choice.

I love my cruiser bike but my seat was not the most comfortable because I have a big bum. The Schwinn Midway bicycle seat is extra wide and is very comfortable. The seat is made of thick, sturdy, stiff foam with a soft cover that wicks sweat and dries quickly.

The installation is easy, just tighten the bolts. The shocks on the underside really absorbs the road bumps and gives the ride a pleasant bounce. Given I am not a very good bike rider, because I often fall with turns.

Thus, I tend to ride slowly but for longer times to get a good workout and so a cruiser bike is perfect for me. However, with long rides sometimes the bike seat can really dig in, if you know what I mean.

Schwinn makes some amazing bikes and their bike seat is no different. This bike seat is comfortable enough for me that after 1 hour of riding, my bottom is still happy and it doesn’t feel like my cheeks took a beating.

It is of reasonable price and is well worth the cost for long comfortable rides. I highly recommend it and I think your bum will thank you as well.

I just bought me a new bike and the seat is VERY uncomfortable. So I went on a search for the perfect bike seat. I found the Schwinn Midway Cruise bike seat at my local Walmart. It is everything I need in a seat.

I am way overweight so having a wide, comfortable seat is a MUST. This Schwinn seat is all of the above. My big butt fits on it perfectly. Not to mention that I installed it in less than 8 minutes for sure.

I thought it would be difficult but it really wasn’t. I also didn’t need any special tools. Just a wrench I had laying around. I definitely recommend this seat. I only plan to use my bike for a little exercise so this seat will meet my needs.

It seemed like a comfortable saddle but once I mounted it and took it out on a ride it was anything but that. Im not sure if it has to do with the kind of riding I do but I found myself having to adjust often throughout my ride.

My bibs are pretty comfy so I know it was the saddle. Maybe this saddle is better suited for a leisure ride and not a good road or gravel ride.

After suffering all types of pain and changing 8 saddle including super expensive ones I found this one. I will not talk too much, but I can simply tell you that I can ride my bike for 4+ hours non stop without any pain thanks to this amazing saddle.

I am now buying 2 spare saddle of the very same. My advise, Go for L3 size 160mm wide.

This saddle is far better than the seat my new back came with, which ironically is the same brand. The padding and width of the seat fit me quite well. I’ve only done about 20 miles on my new saddle, but feel confident I can go on longer rides without the need to sit on 4 inch thick foam for the next 3 days.

The difference that this saddle made in comfort was immediately evident. Just completed a 20 mile single track ride on the Colorado Trail and I am amazed at the difference in comfort. Highly recommend this saddle for those that are seeking bottom comfort.

I got the wider 185 mm version and glad I did. It does not restrict movement when climbing steep grades.

This brilliant new school seat design features a front to back trough that very effectively reduces the dead junk syndrome I got with all three of my old school solid seats. There is even an ‘air port’ in the trough.

wow. imagine that. This seat rates the five stars for design, comfort and build quality. This is one clean seat design top to bottom. Flat and well padded, my butt likes it. Most comfortable of the four seats I have rode.

Several miles and adjustments later, I can honestly testify that this saddle is a pure torture device. If you look closely, you can see the angle or radius between the top and sides of this saddle are actually sharp and not rounded.

These surfaces after more than 5 miles will feel like they are literally sawing through whatever part of your body they come in contact with. I understand that saddle reviews are subjective, but honestly I have no idea how anyone can be comfortable on this.

I’ve had mine for a year and used it for many many miles and after every ride I swear to get a new saddle before the next ride. This time I mean it. The final excruciating miles of the last ride were the last straw this time.

No more til I dump this abomination.

So comfy! I bought a Trek hybrid about 20 years ago. It has spent most of its life in the garage. I pulled it out last summer and quickly realized the seat was degraded (ouch). I bought a road bike seat as a temporary fix but, still, it was not enough.

This seat was perfect. Wide enough for the more upright sitting position of a hybrid and narrow enough not to chafe my thighs. Now my road bike is going to spend time in my garage.

Purchased smaller version first. Too narrow for my EBike. Submitted return with no issues, This seat is perfect! Very comfortable for 25-35 mile bike rides. Have one just like it on my Florida bike.
