20 Best Cheap Rc Boat (2022 Updated)

Brought my son for Xmas. Ran fine for one run. Servo jammed full right on second. Adjusted linkage as per manual. Ran ok then did it again third run. Fiddled some more no luck. Twitching left right. Thing leaks like a sieve.

Suspect none of the parts, esc/rx servo are waterproof. Wont even turn on now. Battery took forever to charge for the four runs it made. A once good brand name now made in China hence its poor quality.

180$ Xmas present that didnt even make Boxing Day.

Pros and cons. Pro, the boat has some good features. The rubber bumper on the front is excellent. It handles nice and is very cool looking. Easy to operate even for my grandkids from 4 to 11 years. Long running time.

Cons , it cost to much for what you get. For this price it should come with a water cooled brushless motor. Also it doesn’t have a shut off to let you know the battery is to low to recharge. So if you run it to long the charger that comes with it will not recharge the battery.

I had to brake out my I charger for my more expensive rc stuff to recharge the battery. If I did not have one then I would not have been able to recharge the battery. And the brushed motor gets extremely hot because it has no water cooled heat sink.

For what this boat cost you could by 3 rc tumbler boats. That handle better and have better remote controller. And even though smaller motor and battery it comes with water cooled heat sink and shut off for battery so the battery is always able to be charged.

But they dont have the rubber bumper. And exposed propeller. Where as the jet boat doesn’t so no little fingers can get cut. Also on the jet boat the battery holder inside the boat needs help holding the battery in from a small piece of expanding foam rubber under the back ofthe battery so the battery stays put.

Otherwise when the boat hits something from the front , the battery comes out and will cause the boat th be to heavy in the front and will submarine. I still like the jet boat but it should only cost about $35 to $40.

I paid $89 for mine.

Super fun, not that fast, but you can cruise over submerged rocks and logs in the creek because it hasn’t an exposed rudder or prop. It sometimes sucks up air, but you just let off the throttle and it starts the jet again.

After about 2 packs, I had an issue where the rudder servo would jam either left or right. Under inspection, it’s clear that the limit of servo is physically blocked due to the lack of clearance around the jet pivot area.

This can be corrected by trimming the jet/rudder so that it clears under hard rudder, or simply move the push rod to a lower position on the servo horn.

We love swimming, however my kids are always wanting a little more entertainment and some pool toys to play with. I initially got this with them in mind, however I think my husband and I play with it just as much! It is so fun and really has some speed to it.

We weren’t really able to let it loose until we took it to the lake, I couldn’t believe how fast it was – we raced beside it in our actual boat so we could get a reading of its speed and it was nearly 20 mph! It’s easy enough for my 5 year old to operate, the boat is very responsive to the controller.

It can go a pretty far distance and still be in range, the remote has an out of range alarm to let you know when it’s about to go too far. Love the bright led light accents, these lights make it fun for use at night as well.

When you place the boat in the water it automatically turns on and will also turn off on its own once removed. It is very durable, highly recommend!.

I have been into RC since I was a kid myself. For the price this boat is awesome for kids and adults. I’ll update but I can say the plastic is built very sturdy and the water cooled brushed motor is nice.

Handles I’m water very well and is easily controlled. Doesn’t capsize easily. Downside, battery life isn’t great but you can buy extras for cheap enough.

Wow, I can’t get over how fast the Force1 Velocity X H102 LED RC Boat, it will max out at 20 plus mph. I bought this for my 8-year-old son, and he absolutely loved it and so did I. I ended buying one for myself too, we take them to the local pond and have a great time.

The remote control is accurate and touchy, allowing this RX boat to turn on a dime. The RC Boat is awesome, it even has led lights that a bright. I never have to worry about the batteries dying or going out of range, because it has alarms that will let you know.

I bought this to use with my Deeper fish finder and I believe I found just the right boat to use with it. Its compact, the mounting screw on the bow of the boat allows for the easy modification point to screw on the Deeper.

I was able to survey my favorite city fishing spot in a fraction of the time. I would recommend taking the boat apart and use some silicone or gasket adhesive to better waterproof the external steering mount as well as the rest of the external seams.

The ESC could use a more secure and elevated mount as well since it is only water resistant.

this little boat is fun , one review said his battery shorted out. this is because the battery sits up against the motor. the terminal on the motor could rub thru the battery case and short out , so just put a peice of foam between the battery and the motor.

The potential problem solved! I love the boat.

I picked this up for my kids to drive around the pool and they have had a blast with it the few times they have used it. I recorded a video of them driving it around in the pool (attached). The boat overall has pretty good power, steering, controls and battery life is pretty decent.

However I don’t think it will last that long just due to how tough it is to open up to get to the battery. The mechanism looks really simple to take apart but the angles of the internal clips make it hard to remove the top to get to the battery.

Therefore I am afraid that the plastic itself will break within a few times of charging the battery. So far I have only had to take it apart twice because the battery has only died once (since I charged it before I put it in the first time).

The boat itself turns on automatically when hitting the water which is pretty cool. It is also easy to drive and the controller isn’t too big so it even fits in the hands of my 2 year old. Overall its a good toy for younger to mid sized kids; with serious care given to the plastics and infrequent use it will probably last a while.

If it is used every day then I wouldn’t expect the whole thing to last too long, which really is a shame considering how cool it is.

This jet ski was able to drive downstream pretty well and was also able to drive upstream. This jet ski says it’s suitable for children 14 years and older, but in reality, this toy would be suitable for much younger kids.

We liked that the seat where the battery is located, sealed well and did not allow water to enter the compartment. The remote control is extremely simple to operate. It can stay connected to the boat for up to 164 feet, which ensures that you will always stay in control.

The trigger operates forward and reverse, while the wheel operates the steering. This controls make it extremely simple for a young child to operate. The speed is pretty good for the price of the boat and it looks authentic.

This we don’t like is that the battery compartment, for as well as it is sealed, is difficult to open. It feels like you could break the seat any time. Breaking the seat in order to get to the battery is the only thing that really worries us.

We hold our breath every time we need to open the compartment to charge the battery.

Our 5 year old son loves his new jet ski. It’s easy to operate, addictive and fun. We use it in our pool almost daily. I’m able to get about two days out of a charge which is probably 20-30 minutes of total time.

Accessing the battery to recharge is a tool free affair, although opening the battery chamber takes some adult strength. I did have some issues out of the box. I felt the directions weren’t entirely clear, and I believed I had a defective unit.

Before taking it to the pool, I assembled it to make sure it worked, and I couldn’t get the propellers to spin, there was no indication anything was working. I emailed the company, and they responded very quickly informing me the wave runner had to be in water.

When I tried it in water, it worked perfectly. Regardless, the support from the company was quick and excellent. We like this toy better than our other water RC vehicle which cost twice as much.

birthday present for 73 year old, yes 73, he has everythinng , or so he thought. we have a new house with a pool and the boat is just great fun for him, he loves it! and was very surprised to get it.

he had rc cars, but never a boat. great birthday for him!.

My son loves this boat. Been meaning to get something with remote control that he could use on the lake or pool and he loves it. Easy to control and wipe down after use.

I am more than pleased with how the issues with the boat I purchased was handled. Thank You!!! ***** I recently bought 2 of the Velocity Force1 rc boats. My husband and daughter took them out on our small pond for the first time here just after receiving them for Christmas.

One of the boats quit working within 5 minutes on the water. The problem is the propeller shaft where it goes in to the motor. It has a plastic part that goes on the end of the splined propeller shaft that goes in to another plastic part on the end of the motor.

The plastic piece on the end of the splined shaft stripped out so the motor spins but will not drive the propeller so the boat will not move in the water. Looking at the parts list in the manual the plastic piece that goes over the end of the shaft is not sold separately but also, I cannot actually find where I can order any parts.

I went to the Force1 website and there is not a page for ordering spare parts. Just for context, the boats were on the a small pond with the water flat as a mirrored surface. They were just racing around the pond when the drive started slipping.

It was very disappointing to my daughter after being excited to try out the boat that it just stopped running. The 2nd boat is still ok, but after seeing how they are put together I definitely see how easily these parts can strip out.

If it were not so difficult to get the spare parts to have in case something happens it would not be terrible, but at this point we are disappointed to have the boats but not able to race them together as intended.

Hopefully we can figure out how to get the parts that would be most likely to wear out, otherwise they seem to be more of a disposable item rather something you can expect to get even a full season of enjoyment from.

**2nd update**After USATOYZ contacted me; they helped out alot and sent me a replacement boat. The replacement works as it should. Customer service went above and beyond. Going as far as including a hand written card apologizing and thanking me for my patience.

Will definitely buy from them again**Update **I’ve raised another star due to customer service. They reached out to me and were currently working on solving this issue. I will keep updating as the seller and I work on this.

I’ve yet to see this thing run. I was impressed with the build of the boat. Everything seems to be watertight, and the dual hatch system is real smart. Controller seems extremely cheap, and it’s made for quads.

However, check your battery connectors. Mine came with the connectors switched. The connector that goes on the battery is attached to the ESC making it impossible to connect any extra batteries. Luckily I’m able to solder; so I made an adapter to fix their mistake.

I tried running the boat today and it did NOT want to run at all. Tried multiple batteries with no luck. The adapter is also made properly so I KNOW that’s not the problem. I’ll try again tomorrow, and will update if anything changes foe the better.

We bought 2 of these boats for my kids. They work great, are fast on the pond, and they battery life is decent (lasts about 20min full throttle). After my boys returned from the pond, I went to recharge the battery’s and started to smell a burnt smell coming from inside one of the boats where the batter/motor sits.

I thought it was the battery, but recharged the battery and used it to power the 2nd boat and it ran the 2nd boat as expected (about 20min). I suspected the motor burned up and email customer service for help getting a replacement motor.

Customer service was excellent and instead of shipping a new motor, they sent me a whole new boat within a couple days. We are back up an running without any issues. Thank you for standing behind your products with great customer service!!.

Very nice, we’ll built. Attention to detail shows. Had a problem with the charger and one phone call took care of it. These guys rock. Can’t wait to take it to the lake. Update. first lake run today, handles like a champ, battery position helps determine how fast boat will plane out.

Has ample distance and even turned a few heads.

Bought it for my 12 year old and ran about 5 packs through it at the lake the first day. Handles choppy water no problem and can really get up to speed on the smooth stuff. Cuts harder one way than the other due to the battery pack but it wouldn’t be noticeable running lipo batteries.

Negligible amount of water got inside after a good thrashing but no biggie. Couldn’t get it to roll over no matter what. Great little boat!.

This is really a good boat. Even though the esc can handle 3s the motor will not last. It’s fun to drive and handles the rough water pretty well. I converted one to brushless but the hull doesn’t like speeds over 30 mph without heavy modding.

It’s a great boat for the beginner and advance hobbyist.

My daughter loves it. But likes to take on water after each run, we are dumping out a fair amount of water. Definitely get a splash guard for this boat. Definitely run higher C rating lipo batteries than what Traxxas recommends.

This boat is easy to flip.

RC Superstore was great it had almost all the upgrades I needed to make this Spartan better than stock. I did prefer the other color but it was out of stock but the color I bought is totally looking awesome with all the upgrades on it.

RC Superstore is definitely the place for all your Traxxas need for some speed action.

I’ve gone through (3) $70 boats lol over the last few years and wanted something that I could repair if a part broke. Reviews on the spartan on RC forums were hot and cold. I took a gamble and ordered some upgrade parts right away.

The stock waterjacket for the motor is garbage and the boat will have cooling issues on 6s. I put on a dual pickup rudder and new water jacket from Hot Racing. Added weatherstripping to the opening / hatch.

The boat is plenty fast for me and my boys on 4s. When I run it on 6s, its wicked fast. It’s hard to run unless the water is relatively smooth. I’m not sure how the boat compared to other hobby boats, but I’m very happy with my purchase.

I loved the material quality of the Toy RC Wave Rage Boat. It is solid & shiny boat, comes with 2 propeller fans (and extra pair of fans too), 2 ropes, a tube rider and a remote control (works with 4 AA batteries).

Functions on the remote control is very smooth and it turns the directions of boat very well. Boat can go front , back, right & left basically all the directions very easily. Speed of the boat is really great and highly recommended for the racing.

Boat has a rechargeable batter which lasts for around 20 mins in one charge. Pairing the boat with Remote control is easy but I find sometimes it break the connection with the remote control and the reason for 1 less star.

Overall great product, my son absolutely love it.

I didn’t know what to expect when I put my RC Wave Rage boat on the water. After charging the rechargeable battery that is in the boat itself and putting in the four AA batteries for the remote, I was ready to have my children play with it.

Wow, was I pleasantly surprised!!! I was expecting the boat to putter along. Not so! It is really fast! It is able to move forward and backwards, as well as turn to the left and right. Super maneuverability.

There is even a cute little tuber rider that you can attach to the back of the boat! It makes for a nice visual as the rider is touring around in the water. It would be great to have two of them in order to race them.

Note, this is not a bath toy. It is much better suited to use in a pool, pond, or larger body of water. Overall, a VERY fun and enjoyable toy!.

I bought this as my first boat. I have a few helicopters and planes but they seem to be costly to keep flying. I decided to try boats and had so much fun with this one, I turned around and bought a bigger one.

This boat is excellent for a new boat user and I don’t worry about my kids or grand kids running it. Great over all boat that I am glad I bought. Easy to operate, easy to maintain and fun. Makes for a great combination.

looks nice but pretty slow. I took mine and put a brushless motor and speed control in it. big difference. the only bad thing is you cant out much under the canopy. can only run a 2s with the canopy on or 3s without the canopy off.

3s this thing leaps out of the water and keeps up with my Reo 51z.

Don’t waste your money. Caught fire on the second run. Buy a oxidean marine or a traxxas. Horizonhobby customer support is terrible. Ended up buying a new power system myself. Haven’t even owned it a month.

Great looking boat! Swap the stock prop with an Octura x440 or stock Blackjack 29 prop and add some washers or a spacer as needed. This prevents it from running too hot on 6s. Remember to grease the flex shaft (prop shaft) each time you go out and take it out after a run, wipe it down and let it dry.

Also leave a 4-5mm gap at the prop shaft end where the white washer is to allow the flex shaft to shrink under load. It doesn’t turn sharp in small areas b/c it’s a hydroplane. FAST boat!.

I keep looking at this boat over and over and hoping that I’ll find more reviews. Getting ready to step up to the pro level but a little leery. It seems like the boats I’m looking at all have issues out of the box like overheating because of the prop and more Etc.

It required drilling between the controls compartment and the bridge for a grounding wire and the pick up cut outs between the two pick up up cut outs to run the wires, which was far from easy without the right tools.

There were no instructions on where to drill and locate the tailpiece and bridge, which is crucial to get the right intonation, otherwise you will never be able to tune it.

The boat is very fast and fun but I was only able to use it twice then the battery quit taking a charge and I haven’t been able to find a replacement. It uses a different connector than the standard 7.

4v batteries.

Just what I needed to add onto my light show without spending big $. I got 4 and am very happy. Easy instructions, packaged very well for shipping and work perfectly. Was impressed with how sturdy the bolts and brackets are, no chance these fall off a truss.

Its a nice little inexpensive RC boat. This is my second of the exact same model. The first I bought from a different supplier a few years ago. I run these in my pond at the same time and the first is much faster and battery last longer than the newer boat.

I also received two batteries with the first boat and only one with the second boat. No big deal. The quality seems to have dropped in the last few years. The newer boat comes with a rubber nose cone that snaps in place.

Im not sure why they changed this design as it is just a new source of water leakage. I enjoy the boat though, great for running the pesky geese off the pond.

Pro: Fast, tough, and the safety/bind works great, flips back over really easy once capsized. Con: Hard to turn a medium speed or during acceleration. Con: Not good for small pools. My pool is approx 10feet by 22feet and I would say thats minimum size needed.

Con: Uses JST SM 4 Pin battery terminal.

Great boat especially for kids. My 8 year old grandson loves it. You cold spend twice as much and not get a nicer boat. The distance and low battery warnings are very helpful. Just pick up a couple of extra batteries and you will have a fun afternoon.

This thing rips, it accelerates hard and turns even harder. Parts are cheap and easy to get, this came in handy for me when I didn’t read the owner’s manual and didn’t realize the motor needs to have some light oil dropped on the bearings.

Love the boat very fast if you can keep it in the water. Ordered 2 sets of trim tabs,new spin fins and replacing the rudder with one from M-41 catamaran that is longer. Should be ready for the water by the weekend.

Purchased this boat three weeks ago and I’ve taken it out to the lake twice. So far I love it. BOAT IS FAST! It corners great at speed, but turns TERRIBLE at low speeds. But then again it’s a speed boat, so I would expect that.

I’ve run 2x2s lipos and 2x3s lipos. It is a BEAST on 3s. Great boat for intermediate or advanced RC users.

I put a GPS in my completely stock boat. On 4S it ran over 40 on 5 s it ran nearly 50 on 6s it runs 60 but will overheat. It is thick and sturdy also heavy but that helps keep it on the water. Handles well need more runtime.

This is my first rc boat and it is great. Very stabile with plenty of power. I researched a few forums and other reviews of other boats similarly priced and found this to be the best value. It has very good fiberglass molding, the electronics run nice and cool on 5s 5000 mah lipos (3s on the left and 2s on the right that counteracts the toque of the motor), and it rips arounds turns at a good speed with out flipping over.

I didnt have to set up anything out of the box, i put in batteries, connected the reciever, and had it in the water in 20 minutes.

The boat is well built, runs great and fun to drive. The hull is well painted and looks great, but the paint does chip pretty easily so be extra carful not to bump anything while driving it. This boat is great for beginners to intermediate hobbies.

Sharper Image made a fun water boat race set. The setup for the Hydro Racers is easy, and the charge time isn’t half bad. The remote control uses batteries, but the race boats are only rechargeable, and the batteries are not replaceable.

Once they no longer hold a charge, the race boats no longer function, which makes the rest of the set useless. They also only run for up to 10 minutes or so when fully charged. I’m pretty sure the boats can charge hundreds of times, but the time limit is a bummer.

If they used replaceable batteries, I could see our family having lots more fun with this set.

My kids can spend hours after hours playing with this Toy. The only thing the stops them is when the boats run out of juice. But know they know how easy it is so add more power and they’re back at it again.

Very easy to set up. We put ours on the garage floor just so they can play later In the day since it’s getting dark early here. It’s easy clean out. Doesn’t really make a mess like you think it would.

Fun to watch them play since they run into each other and they can’t help but laugh their butts off. Great toy highly recommend.

My nephew really loved playing with the hydro racers! The inflatable pool was easy to inflate and deflate and the blow up material is durable for use with young kids. The boats charged very quickly and didn’t need another charge for a long time.

You only need a little bit of water for the boats to run. This entertained my nephew for awhile, he loved challenging people to races. Thank goodness it came with more than one boat! It didn’t make a mess and easy to clean up/put away.

Excellent value present for grandson. He has used it in a local boating pool, and had lots of fun turning it, reversing it, sending it across the pool and back. It’s sturdy and has survived a few knocks already so we are very pleased with it.

Its not very fast and the controls are easy to use so no frustration from a youngster. Definitely recommend it.

Rückwärts funktioniert teilweise nicht, da das Boot hinten nicht tief genug liegt. Problem für die Zukunft wird wahrscheinlich der Akku werden. Boot ist komplett verschlossen, so dass ein Tausch wahrscheinlich nicht so einfach funktionieren wird.

Allem in allem aber ein nettes Spielzeug zu einem moderatem Preis.

This 1:18 Pavati Remote Control boat is so much fun. My son owned the last years model in gray. This one arrived in green and has such a great design. The green is easily seen at further distances and really gets noticed when we take them out.

We have so much fun racing them around and unfortunately crashing them into each other. You’ll be amazed at the longevity of the battery life. We can fully charge the boats and spend several hours cruising them around.

The speed is slightly above average, but to a five year old it’s super fast. Even though he is five, The controller is the perfect size for him to hold comfortably and operate with ease. I truly enjoy these boats along with the quality time it allows my son and myself to spend together.

They are well designed and the quality is exceptional. As long as you keep them fully charged and never let the battery fully deplete. I personally think they will last many years. If you’re in the market for a fun toy this is a wonderful choice.

This is a very nice remote-control boat by Hyper Toy Company. I like how big it is. It is actually 18 inches long so it will be great for my son to take to the lake. Another great thing about this remote toy boat is that the remote control included is actually waterproof.

I am glad about that because when it comes to electric toys and water it is easy for accidents to happen. The remote does needs two AA batteries that are not included, as for the boat itself it takes lithium rechargeable ion batteries that are included.

The boat also come with a USB charging cable that was simple and easy to use. He has been in love with it ever since he opened it. He likes showing us how he can make it turn when going fast. He was able to try it out in the pool, but is really looking forward to taking it to the lake when we get the chance to go.

Overall, a very nice toy boat. It looks super cool with its lime yellow color, and will give any kid a good and interesting time.
