20 Best Cheap Tig Welder (2022 Updated)

I would give it zero if I could. Used it for one job that was about 18 hours of aluminum welding. It doesn’t had a tig torch button unless you buy the expensive add on. Tried to use it again and the display and lights don’t work on it.

I’ve only had it for a few months. I thought maybe it was the generator I was using. Tried with the shop 220v and it does the same thing. I shouldn’t have to warranty something I’ve barely used especially at this price point.

I’ve used miller all my life and thought this was a good deal.

The welder is working out great! Self teaching to weld aluminum! It’s really working out! But the part about the 400$ rebate, is a total fabrication! I bought the machine on 5/10. Did everything online, got the code and an acknowledgment, but no rebate! More emails, then the typical response about how sorry they are and a card will be sent out! But still no rebate! It’s doubtful if I’ll be a repeat customer of Lincoln!!.

So I spend far too much time behind a TIG torch and I just bought this little guy to see what the arc is like. I have spent probably 30 hrs minimum behind everything Lincoln and Miller has to offer in the TIG department and some of Frontius.

This is a great machine, the arc is very smooth and readable. I like it far far better than the precision 175, 185, and 225! Its Arc start is better than my Miller maxstar 200DX and my Miller Dynasty 280 and closely rivals my Precision 275 for arc start.

AC control is good but no where close to a Miller Dynasty inverter, now your paying a good $4k for that but just for reference it isn’t even close! Also the fan on this thing makes you think your ready for take off in a jumbo jet, in a small room your going to want to blast music or rock earplugs, which ever is your jam.

The plugs for 110v or 220v are great. And honestly this is the best small AC/DC TIG you can buy in my honest opinion. Now you can buy better but your looking at over double to price for better, so honestly if you are looking for a killer TIG machine I would pick this over a Lincoln Precision 175, 185, or 225 everyday as I have owned them all, the ability to change the AC Frequency will make welding aluminum mind blowingly easy if you have never used a inverter with more than 60-70Hz.

And again for the money this machine cannot be beat. I prefer my smaller Miller inverters for pulse control as this just has “pulse” and no ability for parameter control, but again your more than double the price to get into one of those.

So in the world of TIG this is a great unit, plus it stick welds like a boss, if your an old SA-200 stick welder bud you would love this guy as well. Anywho hope this helps.

dont listen to the nay sayers. this things is awesome. welding on 1/4 inch aluminum no problem with the right set up. invest in the water cooled torch adapter and a 250 amp torch. and make sure to run it on 240 to get everything out of her.

but man this thing makes some clean freaking welds. not unhappy with my purchase at all. time to get some work done.

Great unit so far, 35 years of GTAW experience SCWI – teaching my boys to weld- simple set-up and smooth arc performance. Have not tried modes other than DC Tig yet, but so far happy with the unit. I think a very nice and versatile package great for learning and refining skill, small shop or weekend welder.

Also purchased the Miller folding welding table 30 FX arc station, it is solid, portable and easy to store out of the way when not in use. Nice work Miller! Affordable and will ignite enthusiasm of welding for all levels of ability-.

Purchased this welder because I sent my Lincoln MP210 back. Who in the heck wants to rip their brand new welder apart to install the tig module? Even WORSE, you have to leave the side door open the entire time you’re tig welding AND there’s no option for dual gas features so yeah, constantly swapping that too.

This ESAB melts 6010 rods as good or better than my Lincoln Generator. It tig welds AMAZING, no switching gas bottles, no leaving your access door open, no ripping your new welder apart. The Mig aspect of it is extremely smooth and I’ve never owned a welder that you can literally change the induction on the fly while you’re Mig welding but WOW.

Also, do yourself a favor and GET the foot pedal.

The machine itself exceeds all expectations in (almost)every way. Mine was manufactured and shipped from ESAB to IOC with a defective O-ring on the mig gun hose. It took me a while to find it, after checking every connection, tank, solenoid, hose and gun three times each.

IOC did all they could to help me(Vince was great), but I understand it was a mfg/warranty issue right out of the box. A little better QC job on ESAB’s part should’ve found it before it went in the box.

As for the welder itself, phenomenal!! It’s everything they advertise, and everything you’ve seen described by all the welders, fab guys and car shows on TV. I’ve owned quite a few Lincoln and Miller units, new and old, but none top the ESAB.

Bought this welder from a different seller. I have used Lincoln welders before and they rock. This welder is as good, but has a ton of extra features! It is awesome! One can do many different types of welding with this little machine.

110v/220v is also a very nice option, allows it to be much more portable than just 220v. Welders are excellent quality with a very stable arc.

*** Please read this entire review, it may be long but if you are interested in this welder, the following will be helpful. 1st off, I’m referring to the brown tig 200, & while I’ve seen/heard great reviews, both online & from friends, about the previous colors/models, the brown is the latest version, & had many updates.

This is an amazing welder, & would make sense why it has been rated as one of the best welders, in several welder reviews, shootouts, top welders comparisons, etc, etc, such as “Top 5 welders for under $1000”, & “Best Welders of 2020”, etc, etc.

And in many cases is better than many welders over $1k. Especially when considering that many others in this price range & higher do not have an AC function to weld aluminum, etc. It comes with a standard size WP17 or Ck17 tig torch, & contrary to popular belief, any 17 series consumables can be used.

Also the CGA 580 flow regulator/ meter, is standard argon Cylinder size. Even tho it has great ratings, reviews & feedback, i think it should be rated higher, at #1 for welders under $1000, especially due to its versatility, & precision.

A couple welders rated higher, but mainly due to real small personal taste, or finicky reasons. Yet none that got a higher rating could weld AC aluminum, & weld so well, amongst some other things. The Tig 200 is priced too well to not buy it & do it correctly the 1st time.

This machine won’t disappoint. I am so satisfied with it, that I also bought the LTP7000 The printed amperage numbers around the amp dial are about 10 amps off from the actual digital display/readout, which immediately displays the amps as you adjust the dial.

So in truth, this isnt even an issue. However, the digital display numbers are accurate to actual amperage output when tested. This machine is rated to weld up to 3/8″, yet i have welded 1/2″ in a single pass without an issue, & i could probably push more.

Guarantee this is do to me properly wiring/powering it. The “clearance effect”, which apparently many are confused by, including “professionals”, & i can’t understand why. For AC welding, such as for aluminum, this clearance effect / pulse duty, is a combination of frequency Hz (100hz, 120hz, etc) & AC balance (50/50, 70/30, etc, clean/weld), which needs adjusting depending upon intended amperage, grade, gauge, etc of material.

Typically these features are only on top notch machines. Of course, these top notch machines will have many individual adjustments for both functions, but will also cost much much more. Whereas most other typical machines in this price range have 1preset value, which makes welding aluminum very hard.

So this option is also probably why the Lotos Tig 200 is especially praised for aluminum / fine welding. ***please read, this is very important!*** I need to point this out, because this just eats me up.

I did see maybe 2 bad reviews, regarding the welder burning out. Go figure with further investigation, actually talking with them, i figured out how & why. Of course it involves some very bad info being passed around, regarding the voltage, wiring, & use (duty cycle & amperage) of this machine.

Obviously don’t go over the duty cycle of this machine (6 minutes weld, 4 minutes rest, especially when using higher amps, in longer intervals), but in reality how this machine is wired will make a big difference in all of this.

In other words; As an electrician, i will tell you, have a dedicated 220/240 volt circuit in 10 gauge wire. Sure this can work on 110/120 volts, but no matter the Internet, or manual says, this will limit the welders ability to maximize amperage, & within this rated duty cycle.

120 volt circuits will be either a 12g wire (by code for garages) which will be ok in a short run, or a 14g wire, which I’ve also seen in garages, even tho it shouldn’t be. Not only will this limit the welders output ability/performance (amps/duty cycle), but when you try to push the welder, it can burn it out, & possibly your home.

Especially if 14 gauge or old aluminum wire. Not to mention if these are shared circuits. All of this can be bad, & also dangerous. How much do you know about the circuit you are using? Even with a dedicated 120 volt / 12 gauge circuit, do not expect full amperage, especially at any 60% duty cycle.

You better compensate that duty cycle. Again I don’t care what the manual or internet says. This is real talk! Honestly, you just bought this great welder, & even before buying upgrades, like Ck worldwide products, bigger torches, glas lenses, Pyrex cups, etc etc, spend the $$$ to have a proper 220 volt/10 gauge circuit wired.

And if the welder is close to breaker panel, like the garage, &/ or the walls are open, it will make it that much easier & cheaper. This will be the best “upgrade” you can do for this welder. It will ensure maximum performance & life of your welder.

This is not where you should cheap out. Remember that something is only as good as its weakest link.

This is my first TIG welder. All I needed was a bottle of Argon and it was ready to weld. Everything that I needed to get started was in the box with the welder. First I tried it on mild steel and then some stainless steel, both welded well.

This was my first time TIG welding and the welds looked pretty good. The welder was easy to set up and the controls were easy to understand and use. It came with only one tungsten so I ordered some more as well as some filler rods.

So far I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

I must admit I was skeptical but having owned it for a week and used about 40 cubic feet of Argon. It has welded steel, SS and aluminium remarkably well. I am a good gas welder but new to TIG, but have picked it up pretty quickly with the aid of Youtube videos.

The pedal control is best and it really is a variable output pedal. Not a glorified on/off switch as some other reviews have said. My only criticism is the Euro style WP17 torch. Its too bulky. I resolved this by removing the outer cover (three screws), the switch (not used with the pedal) and the rubber spacer.

You can then slide off the protective gas hose and replace with a short length of 5/8ths automotive heater hose to act as the new handle. Replace the hose cover and now you have a much slimmer torch.

If you remove the heat shrink under the handle there is a standard 3/8th* 24 female gas connector that will accept a standard WP9 series torch ($10 from Ebay). So now you can have a tiny torch (125A max) to compliment your slimmed down standard torch.

This make a world of difference to your welds.

I had been eyeing this upgrade for a while and finally pulled the trigger. It was worth the wait. The intuitiveness of the menu system is ideal. The ability to save 4 personalized settings per welding process is a huge time saver.

Switching between processes is done in about 20 seconds and the Pulse feature is everything I hoped it would be especially in TIG on sheet metal.

I went blue based on other reviews and availability of consumables locally, Although I almost always purchase online as I did with this order. Small Delays, Bakers sent me the 1st one threw UPS as it arrived in pieces.

Baker’s made it right sent me another quick! The unit came almost perfect! when it was time to set up, the wire would catch on the liner within the Bernard MDX gun. Called Miller they sent me a new liner.

I have patients, lots of it! after the setbacks this unit continues to impress and reassure the investment. Thank you Baker’s Gas and Welding Supplies for great service and I am a big fan of your youtube channel!.

Baker’s is first class operation. Team was super knowledgable and helped answer every question I had. If you are in doubt talk to them they know what they are talking about and stock welders.

I paid 2600 dollars for a TIG welder and was sent a Stick welder priced at about 1100 dollars. The sales representative was quick to respond and sent me a return authorization. I returned the Stick welder and am still awaiting the TIG welder.

I think it is a little early to evaluate my overall experience. My CC was charged for $2605. and at this point I have nothing but anticipation of reaching a beautiful Miller TIG someday soon.

I really enjoy using the 161s. I do part time work for an organization that has been using several of Millers 150s machines for several years now. We weld literally tons of 1/4 and 3/8 inch steel together for our projects.

We operate the 150s machines with Generac 8 KW generators in very remote locations. We can weld with 1/8 inch 6011 all day long. Many times we weld for long periods of time just as fast as we can burn a rod and replace it with a fresh one.

The 150s machines never fail, and are tough as nails. I decided I wanted one for my own personal use. But when I looked, I could find almost no new 150s machines for sale on the net. So it seems to me that the 161s must have replaced the 150s machine??? Anyway I decided to order the 161s for my own personal use.

So far I haven’t put the 161s through the abuse our organizations 150s machines have been through. But the 161s seems to be every bit as good as the 150s machine and perhaps even better. However, see the pros and cons below.

I gave this review 5 stars for a few reasons, first the machine does burn 6010 really well ,even on 120 volts. Now it is not a big bad pipe welding machine,but for repair work it is the ticket. I have run it about 10 hours of welding time, building tank frames.

Runs 7018s very well. Used 6010s just to see what it could do, does fine with them. The cooling fan comes on right away, doesnt seem to be a problem. Overall this is a very good repair/small fab type machine.

The first machine I received would not power up the output, Bonnie at Cyberweld and Boone at Miller couldn’t have been more helpful ,machine was replaced ASAP. That is another reason for the 5 star review, great service and great people to deal with and a nice little machine.

So far this welder seems to work nicely. It is very light weight and easy for portability, but the carry handle on top seems a bit thin and week, and I wonder if it could break or bend over time and cause the welder to fall, damaging the welder.

It lists that it comes with a face shield, and you would expect would be usable right out of the box (with the exception of gas and welding rods), but it comes with useless handheld shield, forcing you to buy a new welding helmet in addition.

Not sure why they would waste the money supplying a handheld face shield with a TIG welder that requires two hands to weld. I suppose I could have one of my kids close their eyes and hold the shield for me.

I would like to return the cheap face shield for a pack of welding rods instead, or maybe a pack of tungsten electrodes. Other than the cheap accessories, the welder seems smooth. I like it so far.

Biggest draw back of this product was the known cheap pedal that was being sent out with the machine. The pedal stopped functioning after a 4-5 uses. I know understand the 5 pin “Upgrade” pedal is now just the “Standard” pedal being sent with the machines.

I’m assuming because of all the issues folks had with the cheap pedal. My purchase was less than a year ago, I’m still under warranty for both the machine and pedal. After shipping I paid close to $1,000.

00 for this machine, not to mention the 6+ years I’ve been a devoted customer. Eastwood refused to send me the now standard pedal as a warranty. They claimed it was still an “Upgrade” and had to pay for it.

The company seems so hyper focused on making a buck off you. that they don’t see a valuable customer that has spent several thousands of dollars over the years with them. Disappointing.

The 2 main reasons I purchased this welder were for saving presets and using the stock presets to get started welding. I’ve not even used a full bottle of argon with this welder and having never TIG welded before AND starting on aluminum I have to say this is a great machine.

I had a friend that TIG welds every day come over and give me some beginner tips and loved the machine. They use industrial Lincoln TIG welders and he commented how well this little machine worked. So far I am very pleased with this welder.

There are many settings to play with but for aluminum I just took off with one of the presets and started learning. I have to learn the techniques now to fully use the machine capabilities. The machine also looks like a quality build.

Everything on the panel feels good, not cheap.

I am really new to welding; about 6 months. My first few minutes on TIG were with my Tweco 141i scratch start, multi-process machine, on mild steel. Fairly terrible and frustrating (typical, I guess) even under the expert instruction of my nephew, who is an expert career welder.

I wanted to do aluminum — meaning AC (not some DC nonsense) — and have HF start. My very first bead on. 125 AL was near perfect!! Did not stick the tungsten, or have any issues. Set the thickness, push the metal select button and GO.

I am thrilled with this machine. Worth every penny! As usual, Welding Supplies from IOC was great in every way. GET ONE on these.

I was a little nervous at first, since this is my first “real” MIG welder. I had a scare when I ran my first several trial beads: they were awful and looked like I was not using any shielding gas. After some head scratching I discovered that I had not fully seated the shielding gas hose.

Seated it fully and the beads suddenly looked great. Amateurs, eh? My first project has been a welding cart to hold the 235 and most of the beads are about the best I’ve done, although downhill and uphill travel still need practice.

One thing I noticed that the wire speed always seems to be higher than I’m used to on sMIG, but I’ll trust that the machine is better than I am and adjust my technique. I’m quite pleased. I’m a sculptor and I’m starting to work with thicker steel so the 235 was a must.

I suspect I’ll never be better than a middling welder but the 235 looks like it will let me be my best.

This is a great machine. It arrived very well packaged shrink wrapped on a sturdy pallet. Nothing was damaged or broken in shipping and I received it less than 3 days after I placed my order. This welder is truly an industrial quality machine and I am very happy with how it works.

This em325ic is a fantastic welder when it works. I have had problems with mine since day 1 and I’m on my 2nd replacement machine. It will be going along good then you get an error code. I’ve used my old welder more than the new one in the last year due to down time.

My fan-on-demand does not work on my Miller Dynasty 210DX, the fan runs at full speed continuously. Miller would not repair it under warranty. When switching from AC to DC the welder will start sometimes on AC then switch to DC, I have to stop and grind my tungsten when that happens.

The Dynasty 210DX will trip a 20 amp breaker instantly when welding on AC at 150 amps with 120 volts. The 120 capability was mainly why I bought the Dynasty 210, I had to rewire the garage with 8 gauge THHN wire and 40 amp breakers to weld aluminum on 120.

They had 2 of the 3 welder’s that I needed and were able to get the 3rd within a week. Fast and Efficient! That’s unheard of in todays time!

I have 3 of these welders sitting on the shelf and not one will work. Bought them for industrial use and none lasted more than two months.

If your a welder and don’t have one of these, then your backing up! this thing weighs in at 35 lbs. and it welds Great. The best most portable welder ever. I’m on my third one over the last 15 years! It is a must have for the guy or company who needs to go do quick small jobs.

It will run 1/8 rod like a dream.

Customer service is top notch. I ordered from Canada, so there was a heft shipping fee, and also, I got slapped with an import fee at the border. When I contacted them, they said I could either return it and they would refund all money, or, they would give me a $50 credit usd (half the import fee).

I took the credit, and got the machine. So far I have burned some 6011 and 6013 rod on the 110v setting (on a house breaker rated for 15 Amps), running between 70-90 amps on the machine. Ran just fine, 15 amp extension cord did not heat up at all, although, I only burned a few rods, with some breaks in between (I haven’t welded in awhile).

The welds looked fine (they were as good as I was, this welder looks entirely capable of a nice bead). The starts were a little cold, but that is to be expected, it does not have a hot start feature.

I was just practicing on 1/8″ sheet metal with 3/32 and 1/8 rods, but at 70 amps it had the sheet glowing, and the bottom side was well scorched, so it is clear there was penetration. On 1/8″ sheet there better be, but the point is I was running 70 amps machine setting on a 110v 15 amp house outlet, at the end of a 32 foot extension cord, and nothing was stressing out.

Same with at 90 amps. Using 1/8″ rod, it had the sheet glowing red hot, and the extension cord was still cool, and the breaker did not trip.

I purchased this machine several years ago, primarily for the plasma cutter and Tig welder functions of the unit. I also liked the idea of being able to use it on 120V or 240V. I have been using it on 240V since I purchased it until a couple of days ago.

I came across a situation where 240V was not available but 120V was which was the situation I purchased it for. It doesn’t cut much thicker than 1/8″ steel and I needed to cut 1/4″. The drouth is horrible, regardless of what air pressure you use.

Jagged cuts, at best, 27amps maximum, which isn’t enough heat to get a clean cut. Very disappointed with the 120V application I purchased it for but it does a very good job with the 240V power. Good unit for the home welder but not for what I wanted it to do.

The Tig and stick welder parts of this machine work good on up to 1/8″ steel plate on stick and 1/4″ aluminum on 120V but, you have to go slowly. Both models are great on 240V and I have a foot pedal for Tig welding.

All I want to say is WOW!!!! I sat on the fence for a few weeks, deciding what welder to buy to build my roll off dumpster truck. When I came across the Primeweld CT520DP, it offered everything that I needed and more.

The plasma cutter cuts 3/8 steel in one pass, with only needing to lightly chip the slag off the back side. (Not beating it, tapping it, for real). Actually, I have cut 3/8″ all the way down to sheet metal, maybe 16ga.

I also did a gouge cut on 1″ solid rod when the torch ran out of gas. This was the first time I used an inverter welder, and at least 15 years since I have stick welded. The learning curve was completed in minutes.

Using 5/32 6011 rod at 155 amps gave good penetration thru 1/4″ box beam, and 3/32 rod fixed my mower deck, which was more of a project to play around, but thats a whole different story. I also turned the heat up to its max of 200Amps, sat for a few seconds and blew right thru the 1/4″ material, so it definitely throws some current thru the rod.

I’m totally new to TIG welding, bought a regulator and rented a tank. I tried it on a few scrap pieces and it worked very well, and like I said, I’ve never done it before. I watched Paul Jr on American Chopper for 8 seasons, so I felt I had a good teacher.

Not perfect, but that’s all on my end. Oh, and the MOST important part, and probably my biggest concern was the duty cycle. Well, I ran the plasma cutter at the max, 50Amps and the welder at 155 Amps for hours, constantly switching back and forth, It is winter so I am sure that helps, but it NEVER went into protection mode either.

The kit came with a few extra nozzles and cups, or consumables as they seem to be called, the only time I had to switch a plasma torch consumable set out was when I got sloppy, let my air pressure drop and touched the metal.

I will clean that up, and keep trucking. Overall, I am EXTREMELY pleased with buying thid unit. I will be building many 12 Yard dumpsters with it now, so I will surely put it to the test. Oh, and at 25lbs, give or take, it always gets put away!!.

I bought this welder 2 years ago. I has been used extensively. MIG: built 3 trailers and probably a couple hundred miscellaneous repairs on machines. Stick: hardfaced dozens of loader and backhoe buckets, repaired aluminum dump bodies and even welded traffic plates.

We haven’t used TIG on this machine. Although, I’ve done it on the smaller Tweco 181i a few times with success. We don’t give it clean power. We mostly run it off an old diesel generator. This machine has probably gone through the equivalent of 20 years of abuse in its 2 short years with us.

The guy who is assigned this welder is a complete slob. I have found it left outside in the rain several times. He constantly spills oil on it. Every time it’s lifted, oil drips out the bottom. It has been dropped several times, as panels are bent and plastic is broken.

It’s scratched all over. He must use it an anvil because there are impact marks on top. The only time I have ever replaced a part was the trigger switch, but I think it corroded because water got inside.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he left the trigger sitting in a puddle of water. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one.

Great little 110v-120v welding machine. Works great on 023 welding wire and 1/16 stick electrodes. Bought it to restore vintage cafe racer motorcycle. Came out beautifully!!

So first thins first. You can not tig weld aluminum with this machine. You are probably looking into this machine because you cant afford a Miller Maxstar. So lets not rake it across the coals for what it can’t do.

I’ve researched this machine quite a bit and will be buying it. Now this machine is a trusted brand with a factory warranty. and can plug into any 120 outlet. I recommend nothing else is running on the same breaker and if you plan to use an extension cord with it make sure it is of a heavy gauge.

This welder will weld anything 1/4″ or smaller if you go 5/16 or bigger you better be doing some beveling, and still I wouldn’t trust your life on higher thickness because it is not rated for it. So all in all this is a great buy just don’t compare it to welders in the $1000 or more range.

It welds what it is designed to well very smooth and efficiently. It’s portable it’s light it’s affordable. Thank you ESAB for making a great machine.

Excellent Machine!I’ve put over 100 hours on mine with Zero issues. The pedal could use an update if you want to run it professionally, but I would rate it a 10/10 for value and quality. The Arc is very controllable and predictable on both steel and aluminum.

Diversion technically rivals there Dynasty line for a 1/3 the price. I’d recommend it for beginners and experienced welders.

Bought my 180 for a portable machine to use in the field fabrication for my freelance business. So far I’m pretty impressed with this machine. Having only used it on 110, and not on 220 yet, this machine turns out great easy welds on steel to ; aluminum is a breeze, but maxed out on 110, it’s a bit tough on T joints on aluminum.

Thin sheet metal is a walk in the park. One thing I wish it had is detachable leads!! I know there is a kit out there for that, but there goes your warranty. As for Cyberweld, you have great customer service, and I appreciated the call to verify my credit card purchase.

So far seems to be a good machine, I might invest in a water cooler, the torch gets hot pretty fast at just 140 amps. The argon flow meter barely goes to 20 CFH all the way in.

Have not really used yet, so I can’t rate it. I have 3 other Lincolns and they are all great and I wouldn’t expect anything less from this Machine.

I pondered WHICH welder to buy as I’d never used a mig before. After my experience with a Titanium stick welder AND their Plasma Cutter I finally pulled the trigger and bought one. Right out of the box I was happy.

The packaging was sufficient to withstand the trip from the factory to my home. The instruction booklet is VERY CLEAR. In todays times that is unusual and well appreciated. There were a couple of “quirks” getting it set up and ready to run that stumped me but utube as usual is your friend.

Apparently the machine has some type of a “delay” built in so that IF you don’t have the gas bottle turned on AND you aren’t attempting to weld the wire feed will only work for a couple of seconds at a time.

Once I turned the gas on and put the machine to work on some test welds it performed perfectly. The booklet didn’t give a setting for the gas bottle but after searching a bit I set it on 20 “LPH” and the welds are beautiful to me! I bought the spool gun for aluminum but I haven’t tried it yet.

All in all I’m really happy with what I got for my money. It seems as if HF just keeps getting better and better since I started shopping with them many years ago.

I grew up on tig welding, everyone says it’s hard to learn, but I find it easier than stick or wire feed. This is the 3rd Titanium welder I have purchased from HF. I have the Stick 225 welder, great for field repairs and job sites.

I also have the MIG 170 wire feed, great for all around fab and repairs. Now to complete the collection, the TIG 200. This welder works great out of the box. I did get some good red band tungsten and a new torch with a gas lens.

I used to use a big 300A Miller. Does this work as good as the Miller? Not quite, but dang close, but remember the Miller is a multi-thousand dollar unit. This welder lays decent beads on the DC setting, and works okay as a stick welder.

I have not tried the AC setting yet as I don’t have the gas or electrodes for aluminum. Get this welder and a bottle of argon and go to town. I plan on giving it a good workout this winter when I finish fabbing up a new tire carrier for my Jeep.

Just learning to TIG weld and it is quite the art. The aluminum I’m trying to weld is not as clean as I’d like, but this is doing a great job. The regulator is hard to dial in. Seems I’m dumping a lot of Argon gas to do the welding I am.

I can also say the Argon gas usage seems to be blowing the bead around, so I try to dial down and the regulator is way sensitive. Have not found that perfect flow rate yet.

Great thus far. Just received the machine today! I’m glad I read up on the machine and pre purchased a NEMA 6-50 as it does not come with a plug. Way different than my buzzbox and way better also. Ran 6010, 6011 and 7018 like a charm!! However on 115v you can definitely feel a reduction in power when striking an arc.

But it still runs 3/32 rods great. The dig setting adjustment is cool but I just set it to 50 and never touched it again.

I feel truly blessed to have my Miller Maxstar 210 DX Tig Welder. I also purchased the Miller wireless foot remote and a Miller digital helmet. I downloaded the instruction manual prior to delivery and went right to work on arrival.

I am very pleased with my complete investment.
