There isn’t a definitive answer to this question since the term “cheap” is relative. In general, cheap wood bats are lower quality and less expensive than premium wood bats. They are typically made from lower grade wood and have fewer features (e.
g. smaller sweet spot, less durable construction, etc. ). Cheap wood bats are often used by recreational players or those just starting out, as they are less expensive and less likely to break.
In addition to being some of the best-looking baseball bats around, Mizuno wood bats are designed to perform at the highest level of play. For over 30 years, Mizuno has been adding to their expertise in engineering the highest quality Bamboo bats around.
During the 2018 season and beyond, the Bamboo classic series gives players the edge they need every time they step up to the plate. With a bamboo construction, these wood bats provide long lasting performance with premium pop.
The handle is also sanded for a better overall grip while the end is cupped for improved weight distribution and faster swing speeds.
Got this for my 11 year old, true weight at -3 and very good finish. Way better than the Louisville Sluggers that are rough and don’t have a tight grain. This bat has very good pop for a wood bat. My boy uses it with his USSSA Voodoo for travel ball.
Finish is very durable, he used it for batting practice twice at 100 pitches each round and in a weekend of games and the finish still looks great.
First off, I love this bat! It has AMAZING pop and barely any vibration when hit away from the sweet spot. I also have an easton zcore bbcor -3 but it hurts my arms because it has bat drag and is endloaded.
It is funny though that I can swing a -2 wood bat and have a much better performance and all. Anyways, if you want an amazing bat FOR AND AMAZING PRICE. Get this bat! It is better than those 150 dollar bats that I would end up breaking in 2 weeks.
Check with your league(s) before purchasing this bat. A number of leagues do not allow bamboo bats to be used in all wood bat leagues. Why? I do not know. Bat is sharp looking and my 17 year old son loves the way it feels.
The Mizuno Bamboo Classic MZB271 Adult Baseball Bat was constructed using bamboo for its unrivaled durability, and it has a rich, furniture-grade matte finish for a professional look. Its cupped end design offers a lighter swing weight for increased bat speed and more consistent contact with the ball, and its handle was sanded for a better grip on the bat and a better feel in your hands.
Nice piece of wood for the price. My son wanted the flared knob, but the handle is pretty slick unlike the bamboo mizuno he had with a similar knob, so he definitely needed a lizard skin on it to avoid the total destruction of my garage.
Sound is solid and he says the bat feels good on contact. The ring burns look really good in person (not that it matters, but they do). Who knows about the durability of any wood bat; he has had it a few weeks and has put some mileage on it at the cage and in lessons without issue.
Whenever it inevitably breaks, I’m sure I will feel we got our $65 out of it thanks to the great prices at BaseballSavings. com!.
I bought this bat about 2 weeks ago and it broke in 1 day of use with less than 25 hits. This is a sub par quality bat but yet they advertise they make great quality products. I called Mizuno and they said they couldn’t do anything for me.
What a great answer from a poor quality company that makes a poor bat. Their response matches their bat quality. So I paid to have a baseball bat for a day and now I have nothing. This was my first Mizuno bat and my last.
I will never buy another Mizuno wood bat and maybe product again. stay away from this one!.
Flawless finish and a light swing weight. Prefer more taper to the knob but I tape it up to my preference anyways. Great feel and sound on batted balls. Wood is the way to go with fungos IMO and this is a solid, if not premium option.
Time will tell as far as durability goes but the craftsmanship suggests there won’t be any problem there.

My son started swinging wooden bat at Perfect Game tournament and showcases about 9 months ago. He has a Marucci Pujois model. He hit ok on a scale of 1-10 he was a 5. With his BBCOR bat he was a high 8.
He had the Old Hickory bat on display because we are from CA and likes Trout. 2 months ago being a little frustrated with hitting wood he pulled the bat down and gave it a try. He was still smashing with his BBCOR bat.
Low and behold he started smashing with the Old Hickory. Same size as the Marucci 33′ about 20ft-30ft longer more pop off the bat. Granted there are kids on are team who use the Marucci and smash. He likes the bat hit a HR in AZ this last weekend with it.
I didn’t think there was much of a difference with maple wood bats but now I believe there is.
The few times I swung it before it broke felt pretty good, but I never got to try it out properly. Bought the bat long before I used it, awful mistake, it broke immediately and I’m out $175. Extremely disappointed as money is tight and I splurged on something I hoped to have awhile.
Serious bat . broke 3 lower priced bats this season. This bat has went for 7 games now without breaking. Had 4 doubles in a double header Saturday. 16 u 32 inch size .. nice bat so far.
The LINDY12 Pro Model is the ultimate contact hitter’s wood bat. Inspired by Marucci partner Francisco Lindor, this maple piece features a unique bell knob that’s slightly flared and rounded on the end, similar to a RH6, while the thin handle and medium barrel provide the balance and consistency contact hitters need from their baseball bat.
This bat and any other wood bat that Marucci makes are awesome… as for the sticker issue that Mike was having, dude it’s called use a blow dryer for 10-15 seconds and it peels right off. But I do like the Peter “Grinds my Gears!”LOL These bats do have more pop than any BBCore out there.
Perfect for HighSchool kids getting ready for the next level. If you wanna make it to the pros you have to use the bats the pros use. You didn’t see McGuire using a 34” Meta. Also for the guys that are breaking them, need to know how to swing a wood bat.
Find the grain and stop jamming yourself and this bat will last a long time.
My son’s first wood bat – he LOVES it. Had a solid hit his first at bat with it which didn’t hurt his opinion. 🙂 It was $20 more than the LS at the chain sporting good store he had been wanting for his birthday – which was light, but had lots of bad reviews about breaking quickly.
I’m glad I looked around. This bat looks and feels 5x better in quality. The balanced weight instead of end loaded gives it a nice and light swing which makes the transition from a light metal bat easier.
This bat was recommended by JustBats staff and I’m very happy with the recommendation. A+ service.
Bought for my son who is an above-average player on a really good 11U town travel team. Son is 11. 5 years old, 5’3″ and about 100lbs. This is his first wood bat – we are playing in an indoor wood bat tourney in a couple months.
We bought the 30″ youth model – on a kitchen scale, it appears to weigh about 24. 5 ounces before adding a 1. 1mm lizard skin wrap Very well balanced, he loves it and can handle it through the zone just fine.
He has been hitting a Rawlings USA Velo (drop 10) and thinks the Marucci is much better balanced and feels lighter than the Velo. Intent was to use the Marucci wood bat for winter cage batting practice to get used to a heavier bat with a smaller sweet spot but my son doesn’t want to go back to a metal bat Very pleased and assume we’ll buy the 31″ model later in the year as he grows.
Mizuno MZM 271 Pro Select Maple Wood Baseball Bat-32”- The Mizuno MZM 271 wood baseball bat is crafted with hand-selected, top-quality rock hard maple for consistent high-end performance and durability.
This professional-level wood baseball bat is ink dot stamped, signifying that the wood is of the highest quality to satisfy the strict slope of grain requirements by Major League Baseball. The cupped end provides a lighter swing weight, allowing for quicker bat speed through the zone.
A compressed barrel design creates better feel and improved sound. This 271 series bat is painted with a rich furniture-grade finish for an ultra-premium look.
Bought from this vendor- cracked after use in the batting cages. Called vendor – did not offer ANY support. Called Mizuno and they stated THIS Specific bat is NOT COVERED under any warranty. So buyer beware.
Baseball savings does NOT tell you there is no warranty on the bat.
Purchase this bat for my 12U traveler player. This is a quality wood bat and has very good pop. Mostly using to build up strength in batting cages but he likes the feel and started using in games.

During the 2018 season and beyond, the Bamboo Elite series gives players the edge they need every time they step up to the plate. With bamboo and glass fibers melded together in the handle and taper and then combined with a bamboo barrel create a wood bat with unparalleled durability.
The handle is then sanded for a better grip while the end is cupped for improved weight distribution and faster swing speeds. Mizuno: Never Settle! This Mizuno Bamboo Elite Wood Baseball Bat (MZE271 White / Matte Black) features an approximate 2 1/2-inch barrel diameter, a slightly end loaded swing weight, and the BBCOR certification for high school and collegiate approval.
With a 271 turn model, this design is recommended for both contact hitters and power hitters.
Used it once for batting practice. Had really good pop, however, it dented and partially cracked on the sweet spot of the barrel. It’s a little disappointing. My friend got one years ago and it’s still going strong.
Not quite sure why this happened, I know Mizuno is known for putting out quality products.
I bought this bat for the performance and durability. It should be said that the pop isn’t the same as a pure maple bat. However it still illustrates some good power. Has a slight flex feel to it but not significant enough to make it feel any different to a pure ash or maple bat.
The roughed grip is appreciated and works well will batting gloves. Overall a great bat. Performance is very high. Hard to judge on durability when I have only had it for a few weeks but is still in top condition.

Purchased this in early spring of 2020 for 13U player as trainer for moving up to -5 USSSA bat, for early prep for BBCOR. Many rounds of tee work, soft toss, and BP. No signs of wear. Excellent pop. Instant feedback on solid hits through sound and feel.
Very balanced. 32″ size swings comparably to our 31″ USSSA -5 game bat. Will get more years out of this, and wouldn’t hesitate using in wood bat tourney now at 14U.
Took it to the batting cages and so far its fantastic! I love the feel. Really well balanced and has some pretty good pop. Doesn’t sting as much as my other bamboo bat. Highly recommend!
The Marucci Bat Company uses top grade Maple billets cut from selected, naturally grown trees in Pennsylvania forests. This selection process insures the highest possible grade of wood for each bat. The Marucci Bat Company bats are 100 percent handmade or turned in small batches from an original design, then finished and detailed by hand.
Each model is made to exacting specifications maximizing balance and ease of handling. The Marucci Bat Company uses an Ultra Penetrating Stain that provides the best possible finish for your next Marucci Bat.
Most impressive is the Bone Rubbing technique that The Marucci Bat Company uses. `Boning` bats began in the earliest days of baseball with players like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. These Hall-of-Famers would spend hours in their dugouts rubbing their bats with old cow femur bones.
Bone Rubbing closes the wood`s pores, compressing it and making it harder. Marucci uses the same technique on their bats, rubbing before the finish is applied to seal and harden the wood. The Bringer of Rain youth maple wood bat is named for MLB Star Josh Donaldson and is built for colossal power.
The large barrel and thick handle produce an end-loaded feel and allow for the extreme bat whip power hitters love.
This bat broke during the first week of use. We bought another while we waited for Marucci to honor the warranty and the same exact thing happened with the other bat. Paying $175 for a bat that breaks during the first tournament used is crazy and then for the same exact thing to happen after purchasing another, there’s something wrong with the quality of this bat.
Marucci did send us two new bats, but I’m guessing they’re not going to last long. My son is 17 and has been playing baseball for years, we’ve never had a wood bat break so easily.

I just know a friend that had this bat and the first time he tried using it in a game about 150 swings on it in BP, it broke, but it sounded great in the cage. The durability of was poor for a bamboo bat which bamboo bats are supposed to be durable and able-to-beat up bats.
The slightly flared knob provides a comfortable resting spot for your bottom hand. If you’re making the transition from metal bats to wood bats, the JC24 is for you- even better for contact hitters who consistently drive the ball deep in the gaps.

Pro Maple wood bat Designed for Hanley Ramirez Large sweet spot with balanced feel The HR13 was designed for Hanley Ramirez. This model has a large sweet spot with a balanced feel. Suitable for all player types looking for a power hitters bat.
This is a beautiful wood bat. My 10 YO loved it. I ordered the 30” and it weighted in just over 25 oz. perfect size and weight for a cage bat. He’s more then exited to carry this piece of wood around in his bag!.
My 10u slugger plays in a yearly wood bat tourney. In years past I’d get him ash bats because it’s lighter to get it closer to his Easton bats, but he’d break’em all within 6 months. I decided this past winter to get him this SamBat for cage work and a custom model for his tournament.
He loves them both! The black cage bat is a workhorse and the game bat is almost too beautiful to hit with. The maple is rock hard and extremely durable. He looks forward to practice sessions knowing they’ll be sting-free and sounding like the pros.

Product Details: Barrel Size: Large (2. 5″) Drop Weight: -3 Handle Size: Medium (0. 925″) Knob Type: Tapered, Small knob Feel: End Loaded.
This bat is nearly perfect. I own nearly 30 bats from multiple companies, different turn models, different cupping options, different wood types. only 2 are 32 inch models, the rest are 33. Keep in mind, they are MLB grade ink dot marked and plenty are pro player models.
The WSKP11 BIRCH is at the top of the mountain. I have the maple version as well. The birch model is lighter than the maple, but has just as much juice and a slight flex that supersedes the mass loss.
Very forgiving barrel, excellent whip, loud sound and just gorgeous design. Ball jumps off this thing. NO BREAK IN REQUIRED! This birch is hot out of the box guys. Only thing I wish it had would be the patented Bonesaber knob.
Purchased a new Warstic Pro Reserve wood bat. After one round of batting practice the bat had dents in it. Contacted customer service and was told there was nothing they could do for me. Company apparently does not stand behind their product and has horrible customer service.
One of my warstic bats cracked at the handle on the first AB of the season (weather was over 70 degrees). I switched to the second bat and jacked a home run, which I felt was compensation from the diamond itself.
Will be returning the broken bat and keeping the HR stic.
Victus Pro Reserve Maple Wood Bat EB12 The he Victus Pro Reserve Maple Wood Bat EB12 is the most advanced model for power hitters yet from the Victus bat company. The EB12 is modeled after the 318 turning model.
This unique maple bat features a traditional knob, medium handle and large, extended barrel. The stock model comes with a natural handle, gloss cherry barrel and is Victus’ most preferred color way amongst pros.
Purchased this Victus TATIS23 and noticed an immediate difference in distance. Victus does have some of the best quality wood bats and the TATIS23 feels amazing. Love the colorway to match Tatis Jr game bat.
Cannot believe Better Baseball has this Victus Tatis23 wood bat! This Tatis23 bat has an incredible swing feel and El Niño’s FIRE game model colorway at the plate!!
My Son has used this bat and loves it. Played summer and fall travel ball and the majority of the tournaments where wood bats. I am sure he will want another of this bat when that time comes. Thank you.

My son is 11 playing travel baseball. I believe that this bat is one of the best practice bats for youth players. Slightly heavier than USA bats, smaller sweet spots. However when a player hits the sweet spot it definitely creates more pop than any USA bat.
And it’s so durable and cheap. I also use this bat for fielding practice. Easy to hit outfield.
Bats showed up in terrible condition due to shipping damage. Scratched dented and chipped. They won’t do anything about it, won’t respond, and won’t post these reviews.
Crafted from professional grade, hard rock maple for exceptional strength, longevity, and performance, SAM BAT ’s Pro Maple Series bats are built for players at the top of their game to take over at the dish this season.
This MMO model features a classic construction – featuring a regular barrel with a well-defined taper to the handle to give it a big barrel feel and a longer sweet spot.
This is a beautiful piece of lumber and my son absolutely loves it! The taper to the knob is minimal, so it’s easy to transition back-and-forth from wood to BBCOR.

My son has had 2 of these bats and both have cracked within 2 games. Not sure if it was faulty wood but it did not last. It does have good pop and he loved the feel and how it hit but. if it doesn’t last then it’s not worth it.
Also, you only get 1 replacement so we are out $159.
There are many benefits to using cheap wood bats. They are often more durable than more expensive bats, and they can help you save money. However, there are also some drawbacks to using cheap wood bats.
They may not be as well-made as more expensive bats, and they may not perform as well. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to use a cheap wood bat is up to you. If you are looking to save money, then a cheap wood bat may be a good option for you.
However, if you are looking for the best possible performance, then you may want to invest in a more expensive bat.
