20 Best Cheese For Grits (2022 Updated)

I have been eating Instant Grits Butter Flavor for as long as I can remember and have always loved them. I went to Walmart on last week and saw that they were now offering a 22 count box. AMAZING! I’m so excited so I make the purchase.

I get the grits home and pack my breakfast and snack bag for the week to take to work on Monday. I get to work on Monday and do my same routine as I always do. I start to pour the grits out into my bowl and they look very different.

The grits have more cheese pieces in them which I thought was good until I made them. The grits have a noticeable different taste and texture. They are NOT the same grits. WHAT CHANGED? I even attempted to make the grits at home over the weekend and they tasted the same way.

As they were cooking in the microwave at work, the water changed to a weird rust color and I couldn’t understand why. I am very disappointed that the taste and texture has been changed. This is one of my favorite childhood memories and it has now been ruined.

I have to go on a search around town today to try and find the original 10-count boxes in order in to get that original taste back. A Very Disappointed Customer.

The Quaker instant grits variety pack has been part of my breakfast for close to 50 years. If I can recall correctly, Quaker was running a promotion by placing packets of their new grits in door hanger bags at consumers homes.

If memory is correct, my mother was one of the distributors. She had a house full of kids that she employed to help put these packets around our neighborhood. Well, not all of the packets were distributed.

We had quite a large amount of “leftover packets” in our kitchen cabinet. Needless to say we ate a lot of Quaker grits back then. Every time I eat one of these variety packs, it takes me back to those days with my family! Thank you for keeping your product consistent and for the amazing memories.

Quick question though, what year did Quaker come out with the variety pack. Thank you, John.

I’ve purchased several different kind of Quaker Grits within the last 2 months. Just trying to get the good tasting grits to that I usually get. I’ve bought the instant, the 5 minute, another kind. NONE OF THEM are good! It’s like they added some filler in them which makes them gooey and slimey.

Prices on food have been going up and some brands it seems they’ve opted to lower their quality. DO NOT LOWER THE QUALITY! I’d rather spend more for the quality than pay for crap I can’t even eat. You will lose valuable customers, like me.

I am a transplant to the South and have come to LOVE grits. Quaker Old Fashioned grits are fool proof. I generally cook them for 15 minutes on simmer, whisking them every 2-3 minutes to ensure they don’t stick, and then letting them sit for 10-20 minutes to absorb any excess water.

I frequently substitute milk for water as the consistency is much creamier. You need to use slightly more milk than the cooking instructions for water and use a lower temperature to bring the milk “almost” to the boil before adding the grits.

Adding cheese at the end of the cooking makes them even better.

I’m a Georgia girl, so grits have always been a pantry staple in my home. Quaker is the brand I grew up eating and continue to purchase for my family. I love the “Quick 5 Minute” variety because it takes the time and hassle out of making a filling breakfast for my daughter to enjoy before sports practice on Saturday mornings.

Just pour some in a bowl and pop into the microwave with water or add to boiling water on the stove to cook. I also frequently reach for these after a long day to create a simple “breakfast for dinner” moment.

Serving them hot with scrambled eggs, bacon, and buttered biscuits with jam make these a delicious meal any time of day!.

Quaker, I have been buying your products for years but never have I seen such an accomplishing product made by your company. These grits set the standards high, just by the name you’re intrigued and hoping that they live up to the idea but when you try them you will be everything but disappointed.

They are absolutely amazing. They do not taste like they are instant grits. They have extra seasoning which sets them apart from the regular instant grits and it doesn’t have that fake jalapeno flavoring.

They pack some decent heat too. These grits are like a party in your mouth and you will regret not trying them! Thanks Quaker, for putting out an extraordinary flavor and one that is out of the box! Keep it up ;).

I like spicy, I like cheddar. but this flavor just knocks it out of the park! It is hard to find the Quaker flavored grits in general in my local stores and I was really excited to see this new flavor.

Well, hold on to your tastebuds. because it is spicy and I’m happy Quaker gave it the full spice that it did! It isn’t a breakfast flavor to me, I enjoy it for dinner (I add a scoop of jam on top). Every time I have these grits, I wonder why this flavor isn’t sold in canister size! This is the flavor to keep on hand to quickly whip into shrimp n grits, grit cakes, etc.

, but if so, these tiny packages just will not suffice for a group. Please make this in a canister. :).

I love all your grit flavors but I love the jalapeño cheddar grits the most and there no where to be found. I would love to buy in bulk if available or just find a retailer that’s selling. I miss these grits so much and Im not the only one in my area who has been looking for them too.

Please bring them back to stores.

This is classified as an “extra mature” Irish Cheddar; this is a cheddar that roars! If you want a strong and cheesy flavor, Dubliner is the best! If you want a milder yet still tasty flavor then it’s sister, Bally Shannon is a good choice! I only use Dubliner as I LOVE CHEESE! Cauliflower cheese casserole, Mac n’ cheese, just plain cheese sauce – Dubliner is my go to cheese.

I put mine in a food processor and crumble it as it freezes well.

This cheese is from milk produced by cows living the good life without hormones or antibiotics on the lovely green pastures of Ireland. You can almost taste the misty mornings and the slower, more natural pace of life.

It pairs perfectly with grapes, peaches or apple slices as well as multi seed crackers.

Just Right for my taste. Not too strong and not light. Texture is firm and it does not crumble to much. melts well. I love cheese. This was my first time trying this brand. The price is reasonable, the quality is excellent.

I really like grits especially in the winter. I could not find any organic grits in the stores nearby so when I saw these I had to give it a try. Well since then I have bought at least 6 more bags. I have these almost every morning for breakfast.

I crack an egg into it, add a bit of shredded cheese, maybe some sunflower seeds, butter and sprinkle hemp seeds on top. Yummy!!!! And so healthy too. They are great plain with just a bit of butter on top too.

Its a nice hardy breakfast or even as a side dish for dinner. So versatile and delicious.

Yum. This pub cheese is legit my favorite snack/meal/go to because it’s so easy! I personally like it with the crackers pictured but it also tastes great with wheat thins or even on a bagel! Can be a little pricey but I find it worth it! If you’re not a horseradish type person they have it without as well! Love both flavors.

Highly recommend.

I just love this cheese spread and was pleasantly surprised to find it at Target! Yummy cheddar flavor with a kick of horseradish. can’t beat that. Great on crackers, but try it on a sandwich or roll-up.

I bought this in Vermont on Wednesday. I stopped at the Calvin Coolidge birthplace site and found out that this cheese was produced in the same building Coolidge’s Dad made cheese in over 100 years ago.

Although it is a different company than the one his dad had. I bought the Truffle and the Plymouth and so far I only tried the Plymouth but this is some of the best cheese I ever ate. It is amazing. I can’t stop eating it.

I did not expect this. I figured it was a bit of a tourist thing because it’s in Calvin Coolidge’s birthplace. I did not expect it to be this good. Yes it is expensive for cheese but this is literally some of the best cheese I have ever eaten and I live in NYC, so I have had some amazing cheese before.

My hat is off to these people. If I knew it was going to be this good, I would have bought more.

My daughter and I toured this factory while in Vermont and have a hard time finding it in stores local to us. I found it on Vermont Country Store’s website and sent some to my daughter in CA as well as myself.

Shipping time great, cheese is in wonderful condition. Just as flavorful as I remember. Full bodied and delicious on a cracker or in mac’n’cheese!.

I bought this on a hunch. I love trying cheeses. This is so good. I will buy this again and again.

Been using this brand for years. The grits are inexpensive, easy and simply to cook. They are good by itself but add eggs, meat and/toast its definitely fulfilling. I definitely would recommend these grits.

I’m pleasantly surprised I like any other brand besides quaker. These will be my go to grits hands down! After trying jim dandy grits, I noticed that quakers grits have more grit to them and jim dandy grits have a creamier taste.

I like to add salt butter and alittle bit of cream cheese!.

I actually bought this brand by a happy accident. The directions and measurements (unlike the directions on the package of the big brand), are accurate and both the flavor and texture are exactly right.

This cheese is amazing. I purchased it at my. local grocery store when it was on sale for $2. 50. The cheddar is sharp but not to over poqering and it melts very easily. This cheese can be used in a salad, on pizza, tacos, grilled cheese or toast.

I really like this brand and plan on buying from. them. in the future.
