This ersatz cheese is possibly one of the worst American cheeses I’ve ever had. First off it was promoted as ‘sharp cheddar’. There is nothing sharp nor cheddar-esque about this product. Yes, it melted like a dream but then proceeded to coat my mouth with an unsavory plastic like coating as it cooled while I reluctantly chewed it up.
Cooper cheese should remove the word ‘cheddar’ from its description as this is not even remotely related to even Kraft cheddar. I will not buy this again and feel duped by this mislabeled disgusting product.

Like the Kraft extra sharp block of cheese, this brand sometimes has a sort of sour, unpleasant flavor. Thus, 4 stars for that occasional failure (and Kraft extra sharp gets the same). Cracker Barrel extra sharp is consistently good and has a slightly better flavor, but is MUCH more expensive per oz.
MOST of the time this Cabot extra sharp is excellent, and is good for (real, homemade, Velveeta-free) macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches. BBC news had an article a few years ago on scientifically-proved best grilled cheese sandwich recipe.
I tried it, and it made the best grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever tasted. but it’s difficult to find the article. Going by memory: regular-thickness bread. The better the bread, the better the sandwich.
(I use Sara Lee 100% Whole Wheat because I really like the flavor and because my doctor tells me I need to eat whole wheat. ) Good-quality sharp cheddar cheese (I like Cracker Barrel extra sharp best, but often use the more economical Cabot or Kraft extra sharp).
On the inside, you have: thin spreading of yellow mustard (yes: mustard, I use French’s) on one slice of bread. Next a VERY THIN slice of onion (I use yellow onion). Next the slab of cheddar, which should be 1/8 to 1/4 in thick.
Finally the other slice of bread gets a medium amount of mayonnaise. On the outside: butter. NOT mayonnaise, which tastes much less good in my opinion.
I have to admit, I was perhaps a little too unfair to Cabot. I couldn’t imagine a brand I got from Sams could possibly be as good as those normally found in a more specialized source. BOY WAS I WRONG This cheese is simply excellent.
I use it all the time, along with the “Vermont Sharp. For me, if the cheddar doesn’t have a punch to it it’s just not cheddar. So many “sharp” cheddars have no oompf to. I want my cheddar SHARP. I like to see myself as a cheese expert.
Spent entirely too much time in specialty cheese shops as a kid. This is a great buy. Trust me.
This order had an extremely hard block of cheese which broke 2-stainless wire cheese cutters but was too crumbly with either of two specialty cheese knives. Short of finding a heated wire cutter, or using a commercial motorized slicer, there was NO WAY to cut this cheese into workable slices! Previous purchases of this favorite delicious cheddar did not have this issue.
I hope manufacturer has gotten lots of feed back on this and will produce a more suitable future product. A definite point for Cabot to monitor in their Quality Control process!.

After purchasing other name brands of many cheese varieties for years, I decided to try the Tillamook. I paid more for this block of sharp cheddar than the other brand(s) sitting beside it but thought maybe there was something special about it.
The quality of the product seems very good (have yet to try it melted in a cheese sauce), but the flavor just was NOT there for my cheese grits, my tacos, etc. I had considered buying the medium cheddar for the different things I wanted to cook, but I stuck with a sharp cheddar.
Unfortunately, this one did not measure up to the other sharp cheddars that I am used to. Unsure of what is different about this cheddar. It was NOT bad, but I kept searching for the cheese in the dishes that I put this in.
And, I had used a liberal amount of this cheese in them. Disappointed.
We don’t usually get pepperjack. I have a Minnesota palate – i. e. I’m not fond of spicy foods. But we found a recipe that called for pepperjack as part of the cream sauce, and we’ve been buying this ever since.

I got a coupon for a free sample of this cheese and decided to try it. I will start off by saying I am not vegan, vegetarian, or dairy free, I just like trying new things and finding options I can use with friends who may need them.
This is not real cheese at all, but it is pretty good for what it is. It has a mild cheddar scent, and the texture is much better than a kraft single. Honestly it looks and feels like a real cheese slice you’d get at the store.
The taste leaves a little to be desired, but it is not unpleasant. It tastes a bit like creamy popcorn butter (probably due to the coconut oil in it) and it does add something pleasant to the sandwiches I have tried it on.
I prefer regular cheese, but this works for people who can not have that. It isn’t bad.

Love Tillamook! I absolutely love different cheeses and eat a wide variety of them, but for the basics, I stick with Tillamook. It is a nice harder cheese so it is very easy to grate, unlike others that are softer and crumble and are a nightmare to grate.
I much prefer grating my cheese to my knuckles! Beyond that, however, Tillamook tastes great – some brands I have tried just taste really bland. Depending on where you live, the cost is great. When I was in Minnesota I had a hard time finding it, but finally did find small 8 oz.
blocks of it in the gourmet cheese section for astronomical prices – so I guess this is one of those items where it really does depend on which side of the Rockies you live on!.

So I ordered the Walmart brand of cheese because the name brand is so expensive. When my groceries were delivered, the cheese had expired. I am disabled and can’t get to the store myself so I rely solely on the grocery delivery.
Maybe once every year or so I can get someone to go to the store, I happened to be cooking a dish for someone so they went and got this cheese at the store so I could cook their food. First off it was primarily the Jack cheese, maybe 20 slivers was Colby cheese.
It had a very waxy texture and didn’t melt as well as the name brand. It has virtually no taste whatsoever. So I ended up using more to compensate. It just didn’t help. Waxy and no taste. I guess this is one thing that I will have to buy name brand because there is no comparison.
I have purchased this item before, in all size packages and this is the first time I am having an issue. This tastes like cleaner. Like someone sprayed windex in the bag before adding the cheese. It’s faint, but troublesome.
Product does not expire until February and the bag was completely sealed; I carefully check all items have not been tampered with since the ice cream licking started happening. I’ll buy this product again, but if it has the same taste I guess I am switching to Kraft.
I bought this late March 22 with an expiration date in August 22. Imagine when I grabbed a 2/3s filled bag and found mold. I bought a pound because of the savings since it is one of my “must haves”. I live alone, so there is no one to blame for negligence of storage.
I will bring the balance back to the store and I do expect a credit to my account. I wrote this just in case you think it would be cost effective to buy in quantity. It’s not cost effective when a product expires 3 months before its expiration date, and you have to make a trip to the consumer service desk.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I am a big cheese lover. I get it from my father, as he used to love eating cheese on or with anything he ate. He would even eat cheese by itself as a snack several times daily or at least once a day minimum.
Though I’m not quite as into my cheese consumption as he was, I certainly love my dose of the cheesy goodness on a consistent basis. Cheddar cheese has always been a big favorite, as it goes great with just about anything you can think of, from homemade Mac n cheese, grilled cheese, or making it’s way to the top of a cracker.
The pairings are seriously unlimited. Cathedral City is amazing to say the least. They are a company out of the UK, so being imported I just knew I was in for a treat. Imported cheeses are just like chocolates, and are always top tier.
Cathedral City’s Extra Mature Cheddar Cheese is no different, as they are right up there with the best of them. As stated, I love my cheddar cheeses, and the sharper, the better has always been my motto.
Cathedral City certainly impressed me there, as this cheese is aged to perfection. It’s very sharp, yet still smooth, creamy and very flavorful. I made some quick Mac n cheese on the stove top as I was pressed for time, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to bake a pan this go around, but needless to say, this amazing cheddar cheese did not disappoint.
That pot of Mac n cheese came out so creamy and delicious that I had to be an adult for a minute and use some self control to keep myself from overindulging. Had I not done so, I would’ve easily devoured a whole pot by myself, and likely would’ve regretted it later on.
If you are looking for a tasty, hearty, strong cheddar cheese that will leave a lasting impression on your tastebuds, then look no further. Cathedral City certainly impressed me, which is quite a task when it comes to this cheese guru, so I have no doubt that they will definitely impress the majority of other cheeseheads out there.

Over the years, sharp white cheddar has become my favorite generally, so I jumped at the chance to try cathedral City Extra Mature cheese. I almost certainly would have tried it out eventually no matter what.
This is a very good cheese. If you are already a fan of this type of cheese, you will appreciate the full flavor, creamy texture and solid consistency of this treat. If you are generally not a huge fan of the sharp bite that these cheeses often have, you may appreciate that this sharp cheese lacks the overly harsh bite of many competitors.
Cheeses of this type may get high marks on one, maybe two of these elements. A cheese with a great flavor may be crumbly, or gritty, or too soft. A perfectly textured and appropriately creamy white cheddar can often result in a flavor that is weak or too subtle.
But this cheese gets high marks all around. It is delicious alone, but also plays well with others. I’ve tried it on grilled cheese sandwiches, a cheeseburger, and chili. Each came out great.

Being very hungry I opened the package, apple slices ready. What a disappointment to find the surface wet and all the sides molded even though the best used by date is still a month away. having purchased other imported extra mature cheddars this was unexpected.

My sister has tried for 9 years to replicate my mothers baked mac and cheese and has failed every time, because our mother never told her the secret to perfect baked cheese dishes is KRAFT.

I tried this for the first time on a homemade flatbread pizza this week. cherry tomatoes + sliced mushrooms + fresh basil = PURE heaven! The cheese was delicious, perfect texture and amazing. All of Organic Valley products are the highest quality and I can always count on them to enhance any dish I create.
I wanted an organic cheese that was more guilt-free than brands like Kraft, etc. so I personally don’t mind paying extra for that peace of mind. Quite frankly, Organic Valley has more of a cheese taste because it is REAL cheese.

Love love love! Raw cheese has so much more nutrients than processed pasteurized cheap cheese. This stuff is so much healthier for your body. It also tastes so much better. It’s expensive, but cheese isn’t meant to be eaten in large quantities.
I love this cheese it has an amazing flavor. I love that it is organic. The downside is that its expensive and the block isn’t that large. This is a splurge in my home. I definitely recommend this cheese and brand.
This cheese is made from the milk of humanely raised cows. I have had the privlidge to visit a local organic valley co op farm. Definitely this cheese is a dream!.
Love this cheese because it is raw so must of the nutrients are intact, and because of this it makes for a better cheese that is healthy to consume. It is very firm and smooth, but not hard and last a long time in the refrigerator.
I would recommend this cheese to anyone who wants a better alternative.

First of all this in NOT feta cheese. It is an American knock off made with cows milk rather than sheep. Flavorless and dense. Tastes like cardboard. It is absolutely disgusting – they should throw out the entire inventory of this crap and stop scamming consumers.
The people giving it 4-star reviews on Infuenster have obviously never had real imported feta; which is not much more expensive. Complete ripoff.
