20 Best Chemical Tree Killer (2022 Updated)

So I just got this derelict property. There happened to be a tree growing on it pushing right up against the foundation. This tree is 2′ around. It sits between my house and the garage of the neighbors house, so its not easy to cut down.

I didn’t want it to grow anymore and continue pressing in on my foundation, but I also couldn’t afford to have a professional company come and cut it down. So after reading some articles on how to kill a tree, I found something saying that this product would work.

When I picked it up at the store, the lady told me that it only kills stumps, so I was a little dubious. I went home, and using an auger bit I drilled down into the tree about 16″ in 3 spots. I then poured approximately half of the bottle into the holes.

Its been about 3 weeks now, and ALL of the leaves on the tree (this HUGE tree) are dead or dying. Now I’ll have a bit skeleton of a tree but at least it won’t continue to grow pushing on my foundation.

This product far exceeded my expectations.

You only use a very tiny amount! When you cut a tree or brush, have this ready in a small dropper bottle. Drop one drop on the bark to wood area if it is brush and 1 inch strip of liquid on a larger tree where the bark meets the wood.

Get each shoot with a drop. The tree or brush will not send out new shoots. Works great for willows. I have a problem with ash trees; they grow right back no matter how many times you snip them off. I dab this stuff on the snipped off saplings and that is it, done, will not keep growing back.

This bottle should last any small landowner a lifetime. Do not just splash it all over and do not get it on the dirt! It will soak in and kill everything around it. Amazing stuff!.

Ive used Fertilome once before with awesome results. It did not let me down a second time around. Once you spray it on it takes a week or so for results as you may think its not working ? Then BAMM !! Whatever you spray it on starts to shrivel up , turn brown and dies.

Does a good job but still having problem killing a trumpet vine. Did follow all directions & it kills the plant but then another one pops up. Cut down original vine, dug up & drilled, injected. New ones keep popping up.

Over 200 new plants sprouted up and still going!!!.

This was easy to brush onto the freshly cut branches of a trumpet vine that we are trying to get rid of, though I won’t know if it worked until spring gets further underway.

I used brushtox on Creeping Charlie (ground ivy) in my horse pastures. 2,4D had not killed the creeping ivy and a Rutgers publication suggested triclopyr, the active ingredient in Brushtox. I used 6 tablespoons per gallon of spray and a backpack sprayer and I agitated the tank before heading out.

The spray smells foul but after just one day the Creeping Charlie looked sick and the grass looked fine. After 3 weeks the Creeping Charlie was dead. This product worked perfectly. The pesticide label Did not give easy mixing instructions for my application.

This is the only product I’ve ever used that completely killed rampant blackberries and brambles in my open fields. Like other customers, I could not find how much to use in a 2-gal hand-pump sprayer.

Contacted the mfr and they said 6. 4 oz / gal. This is ridiculous. I could tell just from the strong smell of this stuff that 6. 4 oz was WAY too much, so I started with 0. 75 oz / gal, which worked pretty well after a fall spraying, and now use 1.

0 oz / gal to ensure complete kill. This stuff creates an emulsion, not a solution, when mixed in water, so you have to shake the tank periodically, according to the instruction booklet. The brambles I sprayed last fall are dead as a doornail this spring, and the brambles I sprayed this spring are dying quickly.

Bought this to get rid of my blackberries, dont waste your money, followed the instructions,didnt work,I even doubled the strength , still didnt work, use Round up if you want results!

This brush killer supposed to be a concentrated mix, nevertheless I use it several way, I mix it with water one day with no results then I use the concentrated mix, the concentrated mix work however, it takes a little more than 36 hours to barely get see some results.

I need something strong to eliminates the vegetation growing behind my storage shed and this is not it.

This works like “Remedy” has the same active ingredient. I am getting great results on hard to kill mesquite bushes around my home. Mix of diesel instead of water seems to work best. But I did get good results just with a water mix.

Results seen in just a couple of days. Didn’t realize there was a product out there specific to poison ivy. Concentrate is a much better deal than the spray.

I bought this product to kill Catalpa sprouts fm 1-3 inch stumps, surrounded by a wild grass I got in a bag of grass seed. should know the name, but dont right now. Kills the stump sprouts, but not this grass around it.

tried 3 time at the recommended strength and still have some to get rid of yet. try something else for grass.

This worked really well on the weeds in our yard. the weeds grow out of control where we live no matter what we use. this worked great. although it does not get rid of them completely, it does keep them at bay.

I was needing something that would kill Wisteria. When I read the description of the Bonide Stump and Vine killer, it said it would kill Kudzu, so, I figured if it would kill kudzu then it would also kill Wisteria.

I cut the wisteria to open the limb to have fresh skin, so to speak, and then applied the bonide directly onto the fresh cut. After about a week, I’ve noticed no new growth and the existing stems and trunk are turning brown and dying.

Wisteria is nearly impossible to kill, and I may or may not have to reapply the bonide, but as things are right now, I’m very pleased with this product. I recommend it.

I bought this last year to kill the Virginia creeper and some regrowth from a tree stump. It works amazingly well if you brush some on the Virginia creeper leaves it takes it back to the root. Regrowth never came back this year.

My back yard is full of these wild blackberries and they have enourmous thorns. not good with young children!! Anyways, this product is PERFECT to get rid of them and prevent them from growing back. THANKS!.

THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR OF USING THIS PRODUCT TO CLEAR FENSE LINES OF COMMON TALLOW TREES THAT SPROUT NEW TREES FROM ROOT NOODULES. THE FIRST YEAR TREATMENT IS NOW ROTTING STUMPS AND OCCASIONAL NEW SMALL TREE SPROUTING.

I HAVE CUT AND TREATED THESE NEW SPROUTS AND EXPECT THAT THEY TOO WILL BE ROTTING STUMPS NEXT YEAR. I HAVE STARTED TREATMENT OF A NEW FENSE LINE AND WILL BE ON MY THIRD BOTTLE OF TORDON. I WILL BE ORDERING ANOTHER BOTTLE WITHIN THE NEXT MONTH.

The tordon is great—The delivery time (OVER 3 WKS) was horrible. Might have to save for next year. Great product–works–order EARLY.

Seems to work well as a stump treatment on unwanted brush/trees. Ez application with a paintbrush.

Package it better next time. One bottle leaked into the package.

This killed all the unnecessary weeds I had growing in my driveway. Easy to use, just spray then remove those nasty weeds

I had many stubborn trees such as mulberry that I cut down at least 3 times/ season, but they kept growing new branches year after year. Last year I treated the cut areas with Stump Stop, and they haven’t grown back.

This product really works!.

I put this product on the freshly cut cottonwood tree stump (Holes were drilled into it) almost 3 weeks ago. I have seen no evidence that the roots are dying, in fact there are multiple suckers popping up as far as 10 feet away from the stump.

This is absolutely amazing – it did take almost a year, but, the tamarisk trees I cut down are actually dead, with no new growth on them for months. The trees cut down were in a place in my yard where a stump grinder could not go -.

Great stuff, works very well but you won’t always see wilting very fast. Some weeds and brush isn’t affected on the first application – you have to re treat again. Some leafy weeds look like they are waterproof and the spray just runs off.

It’s not in the directions for using but I ad some (a teaspoon) of dish soap for each gallon of water I mix in the sprayer. This seems to let the brush and weed killer to stay on anything you sprayed.

A large part of my Farm is in CRP, woody cover becomes a problem over time. I use Gordons Brush Killer for control of trouble areas. I have/had a lot of wild raspberry’s and I have sprayed with other products with less success.

I found that Gordons has Triclopyr herbicide which seems to get into the root of the plants and stops them. I also use TSC 80/20 Farm Works Surfactant. I apply Gordons at 1 qt per ac per 10 gal water per ac (Large boom sprayer) or 4 oz per gallon of water for hand spraying.

Works on other invasive plants too, – I will use again and recommend to others. Good Luck!.

Been using this product for over 5 years in my customer’s yards and on my own property. It works great for killing all things ‘not grass’. Kills brush, weeds, thickets, briars, poison ivy, poison oak, vine of all varieties, young and established trees.

Also works great in pure concentrate form when cutting brush, larger tree stumps, large vine stumps. After cutting spray pure concentrate around perimof stump to kill stump and prevent sucker growth.

I use 1/4 cup of concentrate per gallon of water.

Anyone with English Ivy around the house can tell you that what once looked nice can become a menace. I have come to hate it. It is relentless and will cover your world. I have tried various products, including Roundup, with minimal success.

Crossbow is the first product that worked. Now I am reclaiming some lost ground.

The gallon jug was intact but there wasn’t any instructions. I looked on YouTube to get the mixing instructions. My son bought a jug from a farmers market and had a brochure that he copied and sent to me which was very helpful.

I haven’t used it yet because of the weather, but hopefully in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Depending on what I am trying to kill I have seen results within a few hours to a few days. I mostly buy it for killing poison ivy oak and sumac and virginia creeper. But I am having issues with getting this product due to the supply chain.

So I try to buy when I see it.

I love it. We had a bunch of trees pushed up & 800’ of ditch dug with the dirt making a levy. The initial spray, all that “very deep hard brush” & grass is still dead. What I go & spray about every 3 weeks is all that underneath that we can’t see growing through that levy of dirt.

The front ditch I’ve only sprayed 2x & it is 100% clear & water running. Those hard wood trash trees, I call gum ball, they grow anywhere a seed lands & the seeds are round looking solid green berry type about the size of “lemon drops”, roundup concentrate doesn’t even turn the leaves yellow & this RM43 kills it!! I agreed to let my mom buy me a thing of concentrate round up cause she swears by it, I put the exact amount of ounces for my 2 gallon sprayer.

One week later, our hard brush & thick weed grass actually grew instead of dying. I tried it once more with 14 oz to 2 gallons. Barely turned hard brush yellow, did kill little grass. I went & purchased our 2nd gallon of RM43 (I would buy the 2 1/2 gallon if it had a pump attachment to pump out the ounces you need cause I’m partially disabled & can not lift, pour & not waste out of that 2 1/2 gallon), made a total of 4 gallons, sprayed all 800’ of ditch, those trash trees that still have berry seeds buried in the ground, poison ivy, poison oak, weeds & thick brush along the back fence we are trying to cut.

Less than a week a later we went back out to the property & everything dead. Went out day before yesterday & still dead, no new things popping up yet. I don’t care what it is, nothing kills 100% to never ever grow back unless you pour full strength peroxide, bleach or some other haz mat chemical that is carried by 18 wheelers.

That will kill deep into the ground for years. Naturally, companies can not make chemicals that strong for general public use. This is just common sense.

I maintain 10 desert acres. The way out of weed takeover by July and I mean farm-like sections of weeds, is to pre emerge yearly! I have to be selective around vegetation and the house directly, but for the furthest areas around my property, I use an atv sprayer.

The first year preemerging, we got surflan southern weed killer, the second year we got TVC. I was worried about the TVC and was looking for something as effective but not as devastating. I saw a video for the RM43 and got it! It seems to have worked great and I like how it kills existing weeds as well! None of the other preemergants did that! I was even still spraying weeds with the leftover mix out of a sprayer.

It left NO Green!! I use Caseron for in and around vegetation and good ol picking them everywhere else every year. Unless I find something as good or better and less expensive, I’ll be buying the RM43 from here on out!.

We have 4 homes spread out over several acres of family property. I keep about 12 acres of the property mowed and cleared. That includes weed eating around each home, several outbuildings, and a very wide, long drainage ditch.

It has become too much for me over the last couple years, so we have using herbicide in place of most of the weed eating. I mixed this product at a rate of 2 quarts in a 25 gallon sprayer. We sprayed a little over 125 gallons of mix over 2 days.

It took about 4 days before we started noticing any effect, but within a week it was obviously working well. Now 2 weeks later the RM43 has killed everywhere we sprayed. As noted in the instructions, it will get into the root system and spread to surrounding plants whether you want it to or not.

Not a big deal to me but it might be to others. Don’t use it in areas you don’t want everything dead. It kills at least twice as much as you intend it to. I think the prices are ridiculous but if it lasts a full year, it will be worth it.

Oh yes. I love the stuff. I use it for shampoo, mouthwash, enemas , and wash the dog the car and dishes with it and drink 5 cups full 10 times a day. It is also good for putting in your IV, your ears, your eyes and washing your catheter before inserting it into your bladder.

You can also use it in soups and on salads so they wilt and you don’t have to digest them. Spray it everywhere like on all your favorite flowers, your garden and all of your prised fruit trees. You can also use it to bathe your prised fishes and use it in all your fish ponds and tanks to make all your pretty plants disappear.

you don’t need them to block the view of your fish anyway. You can even use it to vaccinate your children if you don’t want to get doctor recommended shots or make those RX companies fill their pockets.

This stuff is the greatest and I highly recommend it. I just love these surveys as they can really help others make good choices on what to buy and take all the guess work out of how to use it for best results.

I used the Stump Remover as a burning powder for removing a hard wood stump. Just bore some holes in the stump and then bore angled holes that will meet the bottom of the vertical holes. Then pour in the Stump Remover (only the Spectricide brand works for stump burning).

Then stack some scrap wood or tree parts in a teepee over the stump and light the wood pieces on fire. Do not stand too close to the fire because when the stump remover gets hot it will ignite somewhat like a road flare and burn into the stump holes.

Works good for burning but you have to do it multiple times for hard wood stumps. Plan on one bottle per stump.

I’ve tried everything on the stump in my front yard and nothing worked. Then I bought this stuff and wow it worked a lot better then the other brands out there.

Since it takes over a year to really see the results of the application, It is a bit early to write a review. I have used the product in the past and had very good results. After about a year and a half of tending the stump it generally will then burn (smolder) so you can then fill the stump hole with dirt.

What can you say about a chemical that is a slow and methodical process.

I’ve used this insecticide for many years, because it always does the job for my 3 big ash trees. I put it on tree roots in March when the temps get enough above freezing at night as the trees start budding during the days.

This stuff prevents bugs for the rest of the year.

I have used this in the past with much success. I have a hackberry tree that once had a billion aphids in it with sap dripping and black leave on the ground and decking. Using this in February ended up with no aphids at all the whole next Spring, Summer and Fall.

I love it and it is the best, cheapest systemic insecticide around.

I have used this product a few years ago and very satisfied. Just bought a bottle today, I thought I mixed the previous but can’t find any directions. Help!

Works at it’s own speed depending on which broadleaf you have. Some weeds start wilting in 48 hours, some in 5 days and others 7 to 10 days. I’m on day 11 and I have some weeds showing no signs of dying.

I’m thinking those wont be killed. I applied a little over the recommendation without hurting our Saint Augustine lawn. I waited until we had a day high of 70° and a night low of 50°. I might apply a little stronger next time I apply it.

I’ve used it for years and find that its potency diminished in storage. Needs to be used within 2 years once opened. Stored in Florida heat might be the reason.

My order arrived in a completely sealed plastic bag packed in the delivery box. The cap had been securely but awkwardly taped down and the underside of the cap had been siliconed. All this was done to prevent possible spillage since the seal of the bottle had been opened.

I was disappointed to see that I hadn’t received a completely sealed gallon. Aside from this, all is well. I hope that this was an isolated incident and that future purchases will be free from defective or altered products.

I mixed and applied as close to instructions as possible. It has been a week now since I applied to my entire lawn; I have noticed several weeds turning colors and looking weak, but nothing has died yet.

I also noticed that this did absolutely nothing for the clover and a few other odd weeds in the lawn. I will most likely have to reapply.

I have used this to clear Texas Hill Country prickly pear cactus and it is devastating. I mixed it about 35:1 with pump Diesel for clearing fences and knocking down unwanted prickly pear cactus stands using a tractor and a large sprayer.

I sprayed a larger cactus stand, about 20′ x 6′ tall, and waited. In a couple of days the leafs showed signs of stress. In a week it looked very sick. In a month it was flat on the ground and dying to dead.

I sprayed that plant 5 years ago and it has not returned. The leaves dry up into gray dust and eventually wash away. This stuff works. Wear a respirator when spraying.

This stuff is superior to Roundup (nothing against good old Glyphosate, it has its place!) , as it offers extended control as well. Use caution around woody plants, especially trees, as it can harm them as it goes through bark.

Offers some extended protection as well. Great for poison ivy, oak, and sumac. Not sure about water resistance, so apply it sometime before rain or sprinklers so it has a chance to work.

Bought this stuff to use in combination with glyphosate to etadicate troublesome woody brush, etc. , around my house. So far it appears to work very well in eliminating elm, mesquite, and four winged saltbush.

These are not always undesireable plants but i dont want them in my yard. Remedy does not have the “drift” issues associated with 2, 4d based herbicides.
