The short answer is that cherries are used in pies because they are a delicious and popular fruit. However, there is a bit more to it than that.
Cherries have a long history of being used in pies and other desserts. They are a classic ingredient in many recipes, and their popularity is well deserved. Cherries are not only delicious, but they also have a beautiful color that can brighten up any dish.
There are many different types of cherries, and each one has its own unique flavor. For pie, the most popular type of cherry is the sweet cherry. These cherries are large and have a deep red color. They are also very juicy, making them perfect for pies.
While sweet cherries are the most popular type of cherry for pie, there are also sour cherries. These cherries are smaller and have a brighter red color. They are also much less juicy, so they are often used in pies that have a filling that is not as sweet.
No matter what type of cherry you use, they are sure to add a delicious flavor to your pie.

Cherries are ridiculously expensive! But to make a pie out of season, this is your only option. It takes five cans to make a pie. Yes Ma’m that is roughly 20 bucks just in cherries alone! I also use concentrated cherry juice instead of the water these cherries are packed in.
Another 4 bucks. And I make a 100% butter crust so this pie costs me around 28 dollars to make. However, cherry pie is my precious granddaughters and my husband’s absolute favorite dessert in the world.
Plus when I prepare food for my family I buy the best ingredients I can afford and 9 months out of the year, this is the best you can buy. And yes I do have a cherry tree! But pitting more that 5-6 pies worth is more than I can manage.
These cans look cheap, darn cheap when I get to the end of the bushel of cherries we picked. Darnk cheap!.
The PRODUCT is wonderful however every other can arrives with a dent in it. I find this common with many of my Walmart canned food orders unfortunately. (Most often the mailing pkg is not damaged, so i suspect cans are dented when packaged).
WM makes it right with a replacement (they are very responsive) but its frustrating. Most are dented on the seam which renders it useless to me or to potential donation. My local walmart doesnt carry this in their store, so i have to order it online.
Product has been great for many years. Trouble is that it is no longer on the shelves in stores available for delivery or pick up. I understand that there is a big supply chain issue, but if you have an 8-pack on the shelves in a warehouse available for shipping, why can’t these be sent to stores for sale individually.
This is an old line product that is high quality and has been on the store shelves for years. Why make me have to buy 8 cans at once? Hard to figure?.
A classic topping for Italian gelato, consider these intensely sweet and flavorful Amarena cherries as the gourmet upgrade from Maraschinos. The Amarena is a type of cherry with a sour and refreshing taste that grows in the Vignola area of Italy.
It is a summer fruit that is ripe for picking in July. Carefully selected and pitted, Toschi’s Amarena Cherries are direct from the mountains of Vignola. Today, just as sixty years ago, they are sweetened and ready to garnish desserts, cakes and ‘semifreddi’ (ice-cream cakes) and to embellish ice-cream.
These sweet delights are perfect to garnish cocktails, ice cream, smoothies and slushies. Here you’ll find them packed in a metal foodservice can. Drained weight 500g (1. 1 pound).
Not only are they good for drinks, but a splash in water over crushed ice in summer, whipped with cream cheese & in puff pastries, mix w/cake batter, frosting, ice cream. ENDLESS!Made a pie (2) w/a whole can!Yes, I LOVE THIS PRODUCT & Have told M A N Y friends&family, now they’re all competing to see who can make the best dish! The only problem I have is they are so hard to find, as I was introduced to them by the restaurant I worked at.
Harvested from the best cherry growing region in the world, the Pacific Northwest, and are picked at their peak of perfection. They get their rich color from vegetable and fruit concentrate, and their sweetness from real sugar! No corn syrup, artificial ingredients or color.
They make for a sweet, juicy treat you can feel good about using to top off ice cream sundaes, fruit salads, decadent desserts and more.
Maraschino Cherries are excellent – plump and sweet. However, the description was inaccurate. I carefully checked and there was no mention of the cherries having stems. Great! However when I picked them up I discovered that was inaccurate: This large container HAS stems.
I’m certain that is fine for businesses preparing drinks or sundaes but not for baking. Now I’ll have to remove the stem from each cherry before backing.
These excellent maraschino cherries are the best I’ve ever found and I’ve been buying them for years. Sadly, Sam’s Club has been out of these for a looong time and I’ve been forced to find other resources for maraschino cherries.
All I’ve found have been inferior to these. Hurry, Sam’s, and return these to your shelves.
I order diet cherry lime eggs from a well-known fast food place quite often, and the cherries are left off completely in the majority of the cases. I always order the largest drink they have, and the cherries are my treat at the bottom to anticipate and savor and enjoy.
It’s really disappointing when they’re not in there, so I just come on home and add them myself from my stash of stash of cherries from you. And there’s nothing like cherries on the top of a sundae or a banana split.
– Colorful Topping These red cherries are particularly useful for topping colorful creations such as frozen yogurt and ice cream, quick breads, and various desserts. They even come with the stem to provide a more natural look, while also making it easy for patrons to pluck their sweet treat from atop their cocktail or banana split.
– Eye-Catching Garnish Preserved and sweetened, these maraschino cherries are ready to use right out of the container. They make an excellent decorative drink garnish for a variety of cocktails, including amaretto sours, tom collins, and manhattans.
You can even add them to shirley temples and other mocktails for a pop of color that guests of all ages can enjoy.
If you want to add a WOW factor to your sundae topper, this is the one! We bought these because of the color, our school color is blue and people love the show of loyalty. In addition, they have just enough blueberry flavor to recognize it’s a little different but not so overpowering.
People go nuts over these! Only downside, they dont hold their shape perfectly. Sometimes they are smushed.
I make Cherry Cordial Chocolate Fudge for my candy business, and each batch uses an entire 16 oz jar of Maraschino cherries. So I searched online and found this monster of a jar at Webstaurant. It comes (4) 1 Gallon Jars per order.
Perfect! Not only do I save a lot of money on my ingredients cost, I am also not going through dozens of little 16 oz glass jars I would have to use if I purchased the cherries at the local grocery store.
Delicious!!! My customers love these! Perfect for garnishes. Nice size, beautiful color and pitted so they keep their shape. NOT a jar full of mangled cherries and pieces like I’ve received from so many others! Also a great price, even with shipping!.
The Amarena cherry is a unique delight. Small, deep rouge in color and slightly sour in taste, the cherry is from Italy’s northern region of Modena, also the birthplace of balsamic vinegar. Toschi carefully hand-selects and pits the cherries using the same process since 1945.
Today, just as sixty years ago, they are semi-candied and ready to garnish desserts, cakes and add to any cheese board.
Best Before: See on the top. Best before date refers to sealed and properly preserved packaging. Store in a cool place (5 degrees/10 degrees C) after opening.

LOVE these cherries. And I am so thankful that Walmart sells them. I used to be able to purchase these everywhere and now Walmart is the only place that I’ve been able to find them. I HATE the nasty, sticky-syrup cherries that most places sell.
I want REAL cherries and ONLY cherries and these are an AWESOME product! Keep selling these forever! *** ZERO ZERO ZERO STARS FOR WALMART!!!! *** I ordered a dozen cans of cherries. ALL but 3 of the cans were crushed and dented.
I am certain that the warehouse workers were delighted to be able to unload all of their ruined cans and get them off of their shelves. And this is NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT WALMART HAS SHIPPED DAMAGED GOODS to me! I also received a large plastic laundry soap container that was crushed and leaking.
The boxes were not crushed or damaged but the products inside were damaged BEFORE SHIPPING and should have been pulled off of their shelves and NEVER sent to customers. It’s a cheap and lousy way for Walmart to save a buck – send the garbage out.

These cherries are highly addictive. None of my drinks are complete without a Bada Big Cherry. I gave some to a friend and she can no longer live without them. These are beyond description. They are not your run-of-the-mill maraschino cherries.
They are really special!!! Don’t buy them is you don’t want to get hooked on the best Bing Cherry you ever tasted. It you have the nerve go ahead and buy them. Don’t say I didn’t tell you!!!.
Griottines are produced by Grandes Distilleries Pereux, the world leader in the maceration of fruit, in Fougerolles, France. The Oblachinska Morello cherries are grown exclusively in the Balkans and during harvesting 500 million Morello cherries are hand-picked in just three weeks.
Then follows a six month period of successive macerations in liqueur until the cherries have fully absorbed all the flavors of the liqueur and are ready to eat.

Delicious in oatmeal cookies! Most use raisins. I like to play. I often use Trader Joe’s Triple Berry Blend and a bag of these cherries to my oatmeal cookie recipe. I get raves! In oatmeal cereal, these are great, too.
I prepare the oatmeal with them in and cook it that way. Add the cinnamon, a dash of cardamom, excellent! The price has increased so i will mix these with golden raisins in oatmeal.
i bought these for a snack. i love dried cherries. i have bought Eden brand Montmercy cherries for years and they are expensive. then I switched to Trader Joe’s but those are not organic (Eden’s are transitional).
these are a delicious tart substitute. I eat them in my yogurt, but the handful when I want a snack. and soon with make lemon cookies with cherries with them. totally worth a try.
First time buyer but this will be a repeat purchase. These cherries are delicious not overly sweet still tart and go really well into my yogurt and I’ve also used them in my semi famous lemon cherry cookies.
I prefer them over the cherries are used to get from Trader Joe’s because they come a lot drier which means they stick together a little bit but that means there’s less oil applied to these cherries so far no pits to spoil my cherries eating and cooking party.
Say hello to the fine ‘tart’ of snacking. Rich in Vitamin A, these dried cherries are a delight to add in your salads, granola, recipes or enjoyed as is.
This is the second time I’ve bought this item. The cherries are large and sweet. They are perfect as an addition to oatmeal. They are so much better than the ones I can get at my local grocery store.
Dried cherries are hard to find and can be pricey. These dried cherries are delicious. I use them for baking as well as for snacking. They are sweet and tart. Price is very reasonable for such a large bag.
If you’re looking for tart cherries, there are better choices. But these cherries are VERY TASTY! and a good addition to any diet ig you’re looking for good cherries. An excellent quality dried fruit.
