20 Best Chest Accessory Exercises (2022 Updated)

As discussed in a number of Mark’s videos, the Reactive Slingshot is great if your bench press isn’t quite at or beyond that magic 300 lb. mark just yet. I have both this and the Original Slingshot, and I have to say that I prefer this given my current level of progress (i.

e. , someone who hasn’t yet reached the magic 300 lb. bench mark yet). I haven’t used it with barbell bench press for quite some time because I primarily do all of my workouts from home, but it is excellent for dumbbell chest press.

In particular, I have used my Reactive slingshot when doing floor press with my 100 lb. dumbbells. It’s excellent for overloading the chest and getting your muscles used to handling heavier weight. When I use this product, I can crank out far more reps, which is great for providing a shock to the muscles and busting through plateaus.

The 2XL size was a good fit for me. I am 6’2″, about 235 lbs. , and have 17 inch arms. The 2XL size is snug, but not too tight. However, sometimes it can feel tight once I get a good pump going, so keep that in mind when considering size.

However, this isn’t a problem because the Reactive slingshot material is more forgiving compared to the Original slingshot, which is a bit stiffer. I would definitely recommend this product for an intermediate lifter looking to push their bench press workouts to the next level.

Also – if you have to exchange the product for size, which I had to do with another product from this website, they made the process as fast and painless as possible! Great customer service.

For reference, I’m 6’2”, 230 lbs. My biceps measured 16. 5” and I purchased the original 2XL. I purchased the slingshot about a month ago to help with easing shoulder pain, and aid in increasing my benchpress over the long term.

To be clear, I currently benchpress 225 x20 unaided on my last set with an overhand grip. This gives me extreme shoulder pain over the course of several days. I decided to switch to an underhand grip, and am relearning how to bench all over again.

The sling shot assists me after my last set of 225 ( I can only perform 9-10 underhanded). After this last set, I put on the slingshot and am able to rep out 225 approx. 17-19 more times. It’s a great burnout that I primarily feel in my deltoids, chest, and biceps.

By allowing me to overload the muscles safely, I am able to train more efficiently. So one month later, I am able to benchpress 225×20 reps with an underhand grip, unaided. My overhand grip has increased to 250×20 reps, but the pain is still just too much to bear.

I will stick with the underhand grip from now on. The slingshot has allowed me to train with more volume and intensity pain free, thus increasing my strength. I feel safer with the slingshot also. I haven’t tried a one rep max yet with the slingshot, but that’s not a concern.

The results with the slingshot speak for themselves. Lastly, utilizing the slingshot at the very end of my workouts, kind of as a burnout, really gives me a psychological boost that I am ending this workout on a high note.

I would definitely urge everyone to consider utilizing this benchpress device for training. It has for me, made bench pressing fun again, and the gains are coming quicker than expected. Happy lifting everyone!😃.

In the late 1980s, before YouTube was available, the primary source of information about exercise form were the muscle magazines. Unfortunately, most bodybuilders in the 1980s used a wide grip, elbows out bench press style.

I was among them. More than 3 decades later, I still bench press and do it properly now, but my shoulders are not in great condition. If I’d had the Sling Shot in 1985, my shoulders would be in better condition today than they are.

The Sling Shot forces me to keep my elbows tucked in proper position and gives me support at the bottom of the bench press, where my shoulders need assistance. After just a few weeks of using the Sling Shot, my bench press technique, with and without the Sling Shot, has improved and I’m experiencing less pain than I had before I started to use the Sling Shot.

I recommend the Sling Shot for those who have bench pressed for year to aid their shoulders and form. I also suggest that new bench pressers use it to learn to bench press with proper form. Great product!.

I have long owned a full sized Bullworker which I would use periodically. I recently have revamped how I work out to be more joint friendly so as a result I’m using other methods. Adding the Steel Bow to my pgm has already shown promise in the short time I’ve had it.

Between the Steel Bow, my full sized Bullworker and Power twisters, I’m getting a workout that rivals anything I had previously done in the gym with weights. The Steel Bow adds quite bit of versatility to the workout due to the range of motion and varied resistance, I already love it and feel that it will be extremely beneficial going forward.

I kind of thought the price was a bit high but when you get something that’s effective, the thought of cost tends to change.

Good not only for older people but everyone. Have had a older version since my teens, and I’m in my early 60’s. My grandson wanted my older one so I bought this one for myself. This should last me until I die which I hope isn’t very soon!.

Amazing product that really needs more publicity. I love what it can do, and what it has done! The Bullworker has definitely been upgraded.

At the time I bought BodyLastics, I was already in possession of another brand I bought at Dicks Sporting goods. They initially seemed close enough in quality that despite their differences that I didn’t have any complaints with either brand, Lifeline I think, I can tell you that all of the BodyLastics cables have eroded and failed and the Lifeline cables show no cracking or any other sign of degradation.

Nobody else puts the safety cord inside the bands and I have to wonder if it isn’t an indicator that BodyLastics knows their bands have a shorter life span.

This is a very good set of resistance bands. They seem to be made better than any others that I looked at. They are smooth moving. Everything that you need to get started is included. I have been using them for a few weeks and am starting to see results already.

There is a booklet with all the information that you need including many exercises. Bodylastics also has workouts and info online. Very happy with my purchase.

I had been using plain pieces of wide stretch bands that brought home from physical therapy and not only did they painfully squeeze my hand but they finally started snapping – ouch! So, I purchased the Bodylastics handles and one band.

Wow, what a lovely game changer to doing my home therapy exercises. I loved them so much I got the 5 band pack, too, so I can progress to higher resistance. Thank you Bodylastics!.

Received fast. I’m using it for chiropractic/ physical therapy purposes for my neck. It’s light weight, rubber, tubbing material(?). Pinches the skin when rolled too fast, and So thin that my husband felt that he would break this if stretched too hard.

But, for me, and my weak strength it does the job I need and for it’s price I’m keeping it.

Not even sure who would use this. It’s pure junk. Truly not even worth $1. it would work for someone with no muscle or an elderly person needing physical therapy. for someone who lifts, don’t waste you time or hard earned dollar.

Not heavy duty! If you’re an avid workout junkie, this is not for you. The tube has very little resistance, it’s useful you want to stretch for flexibility, but worthless if you stretch for strength.

Would not buy again.

Overall, a good set. The handles are great and quality appears to be good. Though the bands are different colours to signify their different resistances, there does not seem to be any variety of resistance; just pretty coloured bands that can be combined to increase resistance.

This is a very good quality strap set, easy to adjust and use at home. Only downside was the handles had uneven lengths. But that might just be a defect in the one I got, other than that everything is good.

Great value for the quality. It can be tricky to set up at first, but once you get the hang of it it’s fine. Bought these because I wasn’t willing to shell out for TRX equipment. I use these for physical therapy exercises for my shoulders.

Great nail technicians tool if on the go or small workspace but this was listed New and it is definitely used. There is red nail polish and dust on the pen and bumps and scratches here and there, specially on the bottom of the motor.

Putting things in the original box with bubble wrap doesnt hide that.

I definitely love this thing. I am very bad in doing abdominals. It was so hard to even get up from the floor. Now I am getting better to the point to do them by myself. In the beginning I was able to just do 3 set of 15 repetitions, no I can go up to 100 repetitions per set.

A couple of months ago I went on a epic quest to find the perfect jump rope so that I might be whipped into shape. I found the holy grail of jump ropes through WODFitters. So, naturally, when I wanted to add pull-ups to my workout routine to add a bit of hotness to my style I knew where to go.

WODFitters has lived up to their awesomness. The resistances bands are of the highest quality and work perfectly. I’m starting to hunch and needed to tighten my back muscles. I have never really paid too much attention to my back or arms really so I couldn’t do a pull up on my own but I was workin’ it with the bands.

Overall, the quality of the rubber gets an A+, as it’s as flexible as it needs to be, but also extremely sturdy, so that I have no fear of them snapping while in use. They work exactly as advertised, are a great tool in developing strength, and on top of it all, I got them on the second day after ordering, much faster than expected.

I’m getting close to 40, so stretching properly is pretty important for what we do at the gym everyday. Although, I don’t need a lot of assistance with pull ups, I’ve found a lot of uses for the pull up band I received from WODfitters.

I use it daily for shoulder pass throughs, over head distraction, stretching out my calves, and hamstrings. The pull up band is top quality, and has so many more uses than just being a pull up assistance band, and I would recommend it for a number of purposes, from assistance on the rig to several stretching exercises.

Hello. I recently bought the 41″workout/pull up bands and the 4 mini resistance bands. I received the review email only for the 41″ bands but I would like to talk about the small bands. I haven’t had a chance of properly use the 41″ bands yet cause I’m working on my arm strength to use them properly but they look awesome! My only issue is with the mini bands, they look amazing and the strength is real, unfortunately, they roll up pretty much every 2-3 times I reposition them.

It happens on all kind of exercises I do with my legs (from squat to glute activation exercises). It hasn’t happened with my arms exercises yet. It’s a bummer having to stop in the middle of the workout and sometimes when they roll up they snapped and hurt my legs too.

I’m still hopeful for the 41″ though, they look solid and awesome, I will review them after the holidays!.

I researched and determined these bands were the best option because they were interchangeable with the clips making them more versatile. The quality is great as well as the resistance variety you get in the package.

The materials used on this product are clearly inferior. Most notable are the sharp edges on the carabiners! The price for the bands was great however, you get what you pay for….

I absolutely love this dumbell set but the issue I have is that I would like more weights. Contacted seller and they said they dont sell them individually. Therefore, I will have to buy another set. I don’t want or need the extra bars.

I just want more weight. I don’t get why they wont sell a set of plates for those looking for more weight.

I love this adjustable dumbbell and kettlebell. You can adjust the weight anywhere on the kettlebell. I really like that you can adjust the weight anywhere on the dumbbell and kettlebell. You can do some really good workouts with it.

It has a nice wide base, so it’s stable on a bench.

4 in 1 Adjustable Dumbbell Set is great for light weights. Comes with everything in the first picture attached. I like it for the ease of use and changing out the weights for curls. The bars have a option to combine and make 1 long bar for light bench press which is a plus.

Added with my new bench and I am one happy home gym guy!.

The length of the rope needs to be longer. You cannot use it correctly if you have short(er) arms. There’s no way you can use them while seated.

If you’re doing physical therapy and want to continue your exercises at home or in a non-clinic setting, this is great for that. It doesn’t do door damage but make sure you do lock or latch the door when using it.

Great for arm, shoulder and upper back rehab and exercises.

This is exactly what I needed to do specific exercises required by the physical therapist. It needs to work on the side of the door and over the top for working different muscles. The best feature is the ability to adjust the length of the ropes.

I’m actually really disappointed in these dumbbells (I bought two). 🙁 First of all, upon delivery the bases were both cracked beyond being able to actually cradle the dumbbells. Even if they hadn’t both shown up cracked, they are extremely flimsy and cheaply made, so it would have just been a matter of time before they cracked anyway.

**Ativafit has stated they are sending me new bases, but I have yet to receive them. Secondly, I was highly disappointed that the dumbbells show kg increments when they are advertised in lbs. This makes no sense to me at all.

At least include stickers in the packages for those of us in the US (everyone?) who would like to read the weight we are lifting in our country’s unit of measurement (instead of having to print off a conversion chart to put in our home gym/workout area).

Third, the weights themselves are very cheaply made. The endcaps of each dumbbell are made from some very thin sheet metal-like material, so anytime the two weights touch ends, this metal part is dented, which just looks terrible.

I would expect so much more from weights that I spent $300 on! Finally, the clanking around that the weight plates do as you are lifting is extremely distracting. Again, I believe that it’s because they are very cheaply made, as I have friends who have other adjustable dumbbells where the weight plates don’t shift around so freely.

The only time I’ve really been satisfied with this purchase is when I’m using one dumbbell with the full weight on it (so the plates don’t clank around). I’m really disappointed in this purchase. :(.

I have had the bow flex select weights for about a year. I just purchased your weights, the 71. 5 pound selects. The Ativafit are by far much better designed than the bow flex select weights. I am very happy with these and I highly recommend them.

Mine are weighed in pounds, which is also a big win win for me. They are also sleeker than bow flex. Also, the dial isn’t plastic, plus you only have to dial one side to get the weight you want. With the bow flex weights, you have to change both sides.

The actual weights aren’t made of plastic either.

I bought this as a gift for my mom. Money is a bit tight to afford a gym membership and we don’t have enough space to store a rack of dumbbells. Instead of buying a gym membership ($50-$75/month), I got her these.

It will be nice for her to do her workouts again. Especially at home when it is easier to find the time (no driving, parking, and worrying about getting home to our family). I tried it and it is easy to adjust – move the dial to the setting you want.

It does not take up much room and can be hidden behind the chair so it doesn’t make the house too messy. I hope she will be happy with it.

I bought this system a few weeks back. The 2 box’s arrived at my doorstep torn open with bolts falling out. Luckily no bolts were missing when I put it together. The cage is pretty good overall. My only complaint is of the pulley system.

It is kind of cheaply built and it does not pivot. The bar that comes for the pulley is also cheap feeling but for now its doing the job. Also the dip bars in the back are so close together it is kind of hard to do dips.

Overall I think this cage is worth the money. I did find another Marcy cage soon after I purchased this one that actually had 2 pulley systems and for the same price.

Decided to forgo the gym membership and pay the up front costs of installing a nice gym system at home. This one gym meets nearly every need that I have. For the price (caught it while on clearance), you cannot go wrong.

Easy to build for those with at least rudimentary experience, solidly built, and great space-saving design. I have been using this with a 300 lb olympic weight set. so far, I’ve used 265 on it and there was no movement or any issue.

Make sure to grease the pulley system (WD-40 will do); otherwise, it is a bit stiff coming out of the box. Only thing I would like would be safety bar catches (it only comes with 2 to hold the olympic bar), but it seems you can find these elsewhere.

With the addition of adjustable dumbbells, this provides the complete home gym experience.

We purchased this cage almost a year ago now to add to our home gym and are very happy with our purchase. It was easy to assemble. The features work great for my husband who is 230 lbs and myself 120 lbs.

we were pleased that it didn’t take up a whole lot of space. We were howeve displeased with the fact that the pully system did not function properly and once you assemble you don’t want to disassemble and try to fit everything back into the boxes to take it back for something as simple as a pully system.

My husband had to fix it himself. Thank goodness he is such a handyman. Other than that it has been a good product and happy with the purchase.

Bit confused why other reviews refer to this as a treadmill. Not sure all the reviews are for this item. Well made and sturdy but would like to see height adjustment for different arm lengths. You are stuck with the one height.

Fairly difficult to store and carry when not in use. Losing a star for the lack of arm length adjustment but otherwise great bit of kit and as said it keeps tension on the pecs.

A huge machine when your close up and personal. Do not underestimate the size when considering purchase and headroom availability e. g a garage with rafters and electric doors with internal rails. It fits but careful positioning essential.

As far as quality is concerned, it is very professional, a powerful motor and I like the ability to raise on hydraulic bar to save space. Fitness Superstore contact is all online and despite six weeks delivery due to lockdown issues they did what they said.

The customer service from Fitness Superstore is horrible. Within a day of placing the order I had difficulties with the order. I spent several days trying to get the financing aspect of the purchase worked out with many long phone calls and several emails.

I only got a solution when the finance company got involved and call Fitness Superstore about the problem. Fitness Superstore kept telling me, “We don’t know what the problem is?” Then the machine arrived and within a few days the machine had problems.

I called the maker of the machine and received INCREDIBLE customer service. I received regular emails, phone calls and visits to my home from the technician from the maker. The biggest problem I have had with the treadmill has yet to be resolved by Fitness Superstore.

I was receiving an email every three weeks or so which offered little to no help. It has been about a month since last contact from and three months since my purchase. Fitness Superstore offers HORRIBLE customer service.

After the experience I had with my purchase (which currently is still unresolved) from Fitness Superstore, I recommend you purchase your sporting items/equipment elsewhere.

I really like the machine but was extremely complicated to put together even with two professional installers. One of the cables that lifts the weights was too short so the last two weights in the stack are unuseable.

Instructions are truely complicated and should not be attempted by someone who doesn’t have a week to spend scratching your head. I decided to hire two technicians who put this type of equipment together regularly and it took them over 6 hours.

I was looking for something to help me break through my sticking points in my different lifts & these bands are really making a difference. I love doing slow movements anyway, but the bands take it up a notch by adding constant resistance in both directions & they are a total wipeout.

You’ll be sore in places you didn’t even know you could be sore. I use the red to do body weight squats, stepping on the band & stretching it over my head which is really helping my overhead squat. The green is really helping me with pullups ( much better than the pull up assist machine which you do on your knees.

The band lets you get full extension. )The yellow & red with any attachment at the end of a workout also completely taxes the muscles. Some days I skip the weights & just do a band workout & I am totally amazed at how quickly they will waste you! Why did I wait so long for these? Yellow & red are also great for flexibility exercises & stretching.

The grey was a bit too “sturdy” for use right now, and I am figuring out what I can do with the purple as I am still messing around with them so far. For reference I am 5’5″ and 118lbs and the bands are all perfect length.

I needed some kind of assistance for pull-ups because I can’t do even one unassisted, but I don’t have access to a gym. These are fantastic for use with a pull-up bar at home. I was worried they wouldn’t be long enough because I’m 6’4” tall, but that isn’t an issue for me.

I’m very happy with them.

I bought these primarily as a pullup-assist, but will probably also use them for various resistance exercises while traveling. Using the band to assist on a pullup has allowed me to work towards the goal of building a stronger back without using a lat pulldown or assisted pushup machine (both of which have their drawbacks).

This truly is the best bar for resistance bands home workout. It looks solid, so much better than the other bars out. Take it with you would go away.

Initial picture is misleading. You think you’re getting a 40 50 and 60 tube but what you are really getting in the box is a 30 40 and 50 tube.
