20 Best Chicken For Eggs (2022 Updated)

We just installed a medium sized box. It’s only day 2. Yesterday the chickens were upset with us and wanted the old nesting box. Today they seem better about actually using the new box. We found the assembly to be easy enough.

We had extra hardware so we were a little concerned. The unit is very sturdy once the bolts were tightened. We did discover we forgot to install 2 bolts (the 2 that hide behind the egg tray cover when it is closed).

We were a little confused when trying to figure out how to orient the top. We wanted the egg tray on the back side so it would be outside the coop. We figured it out. One problem we had with our chickens is that the egg tray was reflecting light into the nesting box and the chickens didn’t like that.

We ended up putting a thin sheet of foam cloth on the metal so it wouldn’t reflect.

These egg boxes are awesome, best value for your money. Not only does this provide an excellent way to keep eggs clean and from being eaten its very cost effect. I build coops proffesionally and I cannot build a better egg box cheaper than this.

I would like to see some improvements on hanging them. I always install these in Reverse setup so I fit inbetween henhouse framing and then screws in bottom. So predrilled holes on bottom and bigger tabs on side would be great (or tabs on bottom even better).

These are very minor issues , doesn’t keep me from buying and recommending.

Did exactly what I needed it to do! My new hens had learned that their eggs were tasty and starting laying outside the nest. Now they think all eggs are too hard, and I can collect their real eggs at any time I want.

They are very realistic but just different enough that I can tell the difference between thaws eggs and the real one. They do seem to help the hens lay in a consistent location.

Perfect for training Chickengirls to deposit eggs in nesting box. Also can be used to trick Humans when I include one in a box of real eggs.

This is the only food I use for my hens supplemented by the occasional treat of meal worms and kitchen scraps. I have eight hens and get eight eggs nearly every day, never less than seven in a day. They are healthy and happy chickens.

My eggs are very large (would be jumbo at the super market) and delicious. I highly recommend this chicken feed.

Great Brand. So glad my local Walmart Carries this at the store. The price for this is very very reasonable. Manna Pro is a great brand. Before this I was using a Nutrena laying pellet feed. While the Nutrena product was good, I noticed that when I switched to the Manna Pro pellet chicken feed, my chickens would eat all the pellets and not leave alot of uneaten pellets like they did when feeding the Nutrena.

Also everytime I have been in store to purchase the Manna Pro it is very fresh! I always check the date code and Walmart always had feed 30 days or less old. Alot of times when I purchase the feed is only 2 weeks old.

If the feed has been out of stock in store, I have ordered it online to ship to store free and get it in about 4 days, and they box the bags, so you have no damage! One thing to note is these are 40lb bags of layer feed in pellet form.

Glad Walmart is carrying livestock feed agian in our area! Good quality, price, and makes Walmart a one stop shop for people and animals!.

The protein level for laying hens is at least 16%. These Family Farm pellets are 15%. While the chickens will eat it and they will stay alive, it is not a high enough protein level for egg production.

My regular feed was out of stock so I ordered this. Within 48 hours of feeding this brand, my egg production went from 23-24 eggs per day to 5-6 eggs per day. It has not changed in a week.

The BEST Ever! I bought first at a competitive company. My Tractor Supply did not carry. I have another friend who also wants to SWITCH from the company that carries it, to my Boerne, TX store. IF ONLY they could carry it locally! I had to order it online and pay a HUGE shipping charge.

If they do not carry local, I will NOT do it again, will go back to other store.

My older hens stopped laying during their molt, as expected, but my spring chicks should have already started laying by now. I switched from a cheaper feed and immediately could smell the difference in quality.

After only 2 days on this food, my chicks started laying. I’m never going back to the cheaper food.

I was actually looking for Nutrena Free Range 21% Layer feed, but found the Nutrena Country Feeds Egg Producer available. Since it was also ideal for free range hens I bought it. I don’t know yet what the difference is.

I think probably with this one I need to provide oyster shells.

I have written a review of their Regional red brand and will again repeat for this one – which is:- This is the best quality and healthiest kibble I have found so far for my two kitties. Yes, it is a bit on the expensive side, but by cats only eat a little of this.

I believe it is because this food is grain-free and has one of the highest content of protein made from fresh muscle meat, organs, and cartilage (unlike the ‘protein meal’ you find in other brands). Also, they offer variety of meats and fish and not just the usual chicken, turkey and salmon.

All their ranges are awesome, and I am glad to have found this brand and am looking forward to their latest product Tundra. I would recommend this to all cat lovers out there. Give it a go 😊.

I have 6 cats who love this. Best quality dry food. Doesnt upset tummies, like other foods. One cat is fed raw so only has few now and then as treat. Cats like a little Natures menu pouches also but this is main food.

All were fed other cheap dry food as kittens when i got them and changed to this immediately as kittens and loved it.

We have been purchasing this exact product for quite a while. We love it and our chickens love it! I purchased a bag at Tractor Supply last night. It was late and already dark outside, but I needed to get it down to the coop and into the metal trashcan we store it in.

I opened the bag in the dark and immediately knew something was different before I could even see it. It smelled very odd. So I turned on my flashlight and the feed was way darker than normal. Hoping this is just a “bad batch” but looks like another customer that left a review also had the same issue.

If this is a new formula, we will be looking at purchasing a different brand.

I started off with Demur, my chickens didn’t seem healthy or active, their feathers were dull, their combs and waddles were pale too. I switch to Purina Layena and after a week i noticed a difference in their energy level and their feathers were starting to look healthy.

After a month my chickens combs and waddles are a beautiful healthy looking red, they run around like chickens should, their feathers are shiny and healthy looking and they started laying eggs! So when i bought some baby chicks i got the medicated Purina chick feed.

I bought extra chickens because everyone said i should buy extra because i will loose some. Well i haven’t lost one chick and i’m on my third batch of babies. The other ones have grown into very healthy and beautiful 5 month old hens who i switched to all Flock until they start laying.

I highly recommend any of the Purina chicken feeds! Thank you for making such great feed for all stages of my chickens life!.

First, I will write that I free range my hens and it has been terribly hot here. I bought this configuration hoping to pique the girls’ interest. The first feeding was not taken well and now they barely peck at it.

Some of the “pearls” did not separate properly in processing, leaving several stuck together and not easily broken apart. I am making a cold mash of it for the hot afternoons “doctored up” with blueberries, raw egg and crushed egg shells.

This they will eat better. I will be going back to crumbles.

I normally purchase eggs at my local grocery store. The store had sold out in the egg department so I took a chance and ordered Eggland’s Best Large White Eggs with my home delivery. I am so glad I did.

I am very pleased with the product and hope to purchase these very fresh eggs again and again. I will be sure to keep them stocked in my refrigerator for the many fall and winter holiday dishes I have planned.

I ordered Eggland’s best extra large eggs twice for pick up. Both times there were 2 broken eggs in each. Carton was NOT damaged in that spot. Upon reading other reviews I see that broken eggs are common.

Way too much damage. Is it the store’s intent to pass on a couple broken eggs to customers this way? I saw that and canceled my order before it was filled. Not happy.

Today, I made a Bacon, Potato, and Egg Casserole using Eggland’s Best Eggs! The eggs came out nice and fluffy, making this dish super yummy! I have plenty of leftovers for another day! I wanted to see where my eggs were coming from and see pictures of the farms as Vital Farms states is possible. The eggs I purchased came from an Amish farm and Vital Farms website says they don’t offer pictures of the farms from those farms.

After finding this out I will no longer purchase Vital Farms eggs. Go Watch Sins of the Amish on Peacock. No way will I ever give my money to Vital Farms again when they are directly/indirectly supporting sexual abuse of children and women.

It’s possible Vital Farms doesn’t know what is going on but they should go research where they are purchasing their eggs from (makes sense why cameras aren’t allowed at those farms and the consumer can’t trace their eggs as advertised by Vital Farms).

Vital Farms is in a position to make change and protect those being abused on the Amish Farms. I hope they choose to help and don’t turn a blind eye.

These eggs are far too expensive to peel so poorly after boiling. I literally just peeled three eggs and the white ripped off with the shell and albumin, leaving me with basically yolk. I’ve had several other brands of pasture raised eggs and never had this problem before.

And these may be the only eggs I’ve ever had that the baking soda trick doesn’t work on. I know the above criticism sounds more like a one or two star review. But I’m giving a generous 3 stars because the yolk and egg flavor as a whole is actually very good and up there with the best of them.

The flavor of these Pasture-Raised eggs is about the closest you’ll find to local or raising your own chickens. I’m going to make omelets with the rest of them, since I can’t seem to successfully boil them.

I was surprised by these eggs. For pasture raised hens, the eggs were very small with extremely small yolks. Yolks did not have much flavor. I usually try to support hens raised the way nature intended by being in a pasture, not enclosed and humanely.

But something didn’t seem right. I have bought cheaper eggs that have tasted better. The package (cardboard) especially the top were pretty flimsy and I don’t think the eggs are protected very well. Kudos for not using a plastic eggs carton but package needs to be more sturdy.

I used leftover pork tenderloin steaks (2) with radicchio, endive, hard boiled eggs, sliced apples, pecan pieces, and Provo. When using hard boiled eggs or eggs in general I am picky. I love fresh ingredients and top quality.

These eggs do fit my criteria. They are delicious and cook well (slow and low. I highly recommend. I will say where I paid a little more for top quality eggs I saved on the pork tenderloin. Aldi had it for $2 a steak.

I bought 4. I ate one the first meal. This was meal 2! You can cut corners still paying for top quality items.

Disgusted. So much bragging about dark yokes. Well the yoke was so small, like a new laying hen. And very pale. I am elderly, and wanted a good rich yoke egg. I had to get ride of my hens. So I paid the extra.

Yoke was not even as good as the white cheaper eggs. To far to go to return them.

When you crack these eggs the difference is obvious. These yolks are the correct color and the force necessary to break them indicates their quality. There’s also a reassuring amount of variety in the eggs, suggesting that they aren’t raised in a factory-like industrial fashion.

They are delicious and they treat their birds right. Oh and they’re a certified B Corp, so they treat their people right too. Oh and the carton plastic is recycled plastic. Look, it’s worth the money.

Very high quality feed. Large amount of feed is in dust form & will go to waste. Strange that most food is pelleted. but a large amount is a fine dust. I definitely will stay away from this brand in the future.

It is too expensive for so much not to be the pelleted food I purchased. Bought 3 bags. Hoping the 2 unopened bags are in better shape.

My feathered friends usually don’t do crumble terribly well, but they definitely ate this one as a supplement to their usual mix, and have continued to lay even during below zero temperatures and snowfall.

Our Ducks and Geese love it, ducks laying good quality and quantity of eggs, geese are still a little to young to lay, will purchase this item again .

I LOVE these eggs. The raising of the hens in a true-to-nature setting make such a difference. I’ve done visual test comparing other eggs and this yolk is rich and golden. Only negative is the Sam’s 18 pack is consistently more like a dozen large and 6 small eggs.

At one time the whole 18 eggs were small but Sam’s had reduced the price. Egg size consistency would upgrade my rating to 5 stars.

These locally sourced eggs are very good and fresh purchased from the club. Twice in the past year I’ve had a bad one in the carton so not sure if the quality control has slipped a bit, and that takes the rating down to four stars.

In past years I never saw this. I’ll still buy this brand though and like that they come from unconfined (pasture raised) girls.

I ordered two cartons of these in order to hard boil them and serve as part of a buffet. They all arrived in perfect condition – not one was broken. After a 4-minute boil, they emerged perfectly hard boiled with impossibly creamy, fully cooked yolks.

A word of warning if you’re not well-acquainted with quail eggs: these little buggers can be a bear to peel if hard boiling. Save yourself the headache and get a pair of quail egg shears. You don’t want to stand over the sink muttering expletives because you’ve torn apart some of these delicate beauties fighting to get the shell/membrane away from the white.

I don’t know how they taste. I bought them for an opossum I’m caring for who was injured. She loves them and they are very good for recovery. They seemed very fresh and were well packed. None were broken.

I found the recipe for quail eggs with caviar as an appetizer on this website. I made it for Christmas Dinner and was extremely pleased! Personally, I never had quail eggs, but these were very fresh and easy to prepare! I will definitely be ordering them again!.

These Pagoda Chicken Egg Rolls were a huge hit. I will say I wish I would have stocked up a bit since our local Walmart doesn’t carry them. yet. I am going to make sure to write to corporate store and beg them to stock.

They have a couple of Pagoda products there so we will try those too, but no egg rolls. We happened to be about 45 minutes from home and stopped purposely at that town’s Walmart and they did have them.

I like to make Orange Chicken (or Broccoli Beef) with fried rice and egg rolls on the side a few times a month. I had to hide the last egg roll for hubby since he was out bowling that night. My boys devoured them! They are crispy, don’t take long to cook, very tasty with just the right amount of chicken to veg filling.

Some egg rolls you get are really mushy or mealy inside. The Pagoda brand was super fresh tasting. I have to admit I only got two bites from my egg roll since when I set it down one of my boys swiped it when I wasn’t looking.

Great as a side to a Chinese food meal, on their own as a snack, in a kids lunch and awesome for an appetizer or slice diagonal and bring to a pot luck. We will absolutely buy these again if they stock them at our Walmart or will go to the other grocery in town to find.

I hate to say I couldn’t get a photo since they were gone. If you live/lived with teen boys you know how that goes. Mere crumbs left on the tray.

These chicken egg rolls are by fr the best i have had out of the frozen food sectionn at the store. After testing different cooking methods (suggested on the box). My favorite is baking them in the oven or deep frying depending on time allowed at night time.

The oven: The egg rolls come out super crispy, hot and moist. The skins or wrappers stayed crispy and enjoyable. The inside of the egg roll has more than enough filling (esp. chicken. ) Deep frying: I found that if you let these egg rolls thaw completely out, you will get a better fry out of them.

I have a deep fryer and haven’t tried in anything like a cast iron skillet. If you get the oil up fairly high 400-450 they will fry more envenly and quickly. I dropped them and when they floated 2-3 mins, pulled them and drained them.

I highly recommend these egg rolls to all.

I was talking with a friend and she said she likes egg rolls. I haven t had any in a while since I am not eating out during the pandemic. I decided to look and see if Sam’s club had any. Sure enough so order a package for curbside pick up.

No sauce, wait I have a bottle of sweet and sour sauce. Wow makes a great pair. I’m now keeping a box in the freezer for those times I want egg rolls. Yummy.

These egg rolls are LIFE CHANGING. Most egg rolls get soggy in the microwave, but these are lightly crispy after cooking for a minute and a half. They are also delicious. These are great with other asian food, other fried food, or even just on their own.

You don’t need dipping sauce. I’m not a big red meat/pork person, but I can’t taste the pork in these at all (which is a pro for me).

I have never tasted anything so nasty. It leaves a bitter, greasy aftertaste and even the dog backed away growling. It has almost no vegetables and looks like gray paste. I did not expect it to taste like it was from a good restaurant, but I expected it to be edible.

Even sauce, which is not included, could not make it edible.
