11 Best Childproof Cabinet Locks (2022 Updated)

This goes in the cabinet under my sink. Which houses all our cleaning supplies which can be dangerous to little toddlers. My 22 month old is little curious girly and this has kept her safe. It is easy to open and close but not so easy that a toddler can do it.

Our 8 year can easily open it though. Which is perfect for us. It’s long enough that awkward and specialty handles/knobs cam still fit.

I tried several types of knob locks, these are by far the best. Plenty long, but I have also linked them together to secure drawer knobs. The material is ideal, has some flexibility and has never snapped and broken or gotten stuck closed the way the rest have.

Opens and closes quickly and easily. Only wish they came in brown, but a great, well made product.

I used this style when my children were little and knew they were what I wanted for the grand baby. Took me a while but I finally found them! Easy to attach, easy to use. Much more sturdy then the other ones on the market.

This product is very good. It helps to keep the cabinets close to keep babies and children from opening them. Very easily installed. It’s very easy for an adult to open, but it is secure for children.

would recommend it to anyone.

My husband installed these and so far i like them. He was able to do four cabinets in about a half hour and it definitely deterred my 18 month old toddler from opening the cabinets when she realized that they dont open all the way anymore.

Locks are pretty good. Easy to use. They do the job, however, I do not like that its not snug so when my son pulls on the lock the doors pull open putting strain on them. But I can say no more picking up pots & pans or worrying if he”ll get under the kitchen sink with the cleaning products.

The decoy button is great. He just presses and presses. lol.

These are the best child safety locks I’ve tried. I’ve bought several different kinds in the past, but these ones were good enough that I replaced all of my old ones. They’re easy for adults to open, but keep the cabinet closed securely so my toddler can’t even get them open a crack.

I’m so happy to finally have locks I don’t struggle to open, but I know they’re secure for my child.

We almost all of the Outsmart line recently and this is by far my favorite lock. It fits great and works like a charm! The decoy button is perfect! The straps were a little stiff to work with at first but once I worked with it a little more it became easier.

I was hesitant to buy anything “Baby proof” since everything we have purchased in the past for our dresser drawers or baby gates my kids have mastered in taking it down, breaking it or climbing it. But my toddler constantly leaving the fridge open, so we gave it a go.

These actually have worked really well on the fridge door and freezer door! We have not had them for long, but I have forgotten they were there and tugged on the door and the stick holds up. However, we did think to try these on the pantry door to see if the stick was strong enough.

It was not. The stick seems to work best if you have these set up so both sides are not being tugged in the same direction at once. So like we put 1 side on the fridge door and the other side on the actual fridge so when you pull, only 1 side needs to have good stick vs the pantry door where we put it to the door and the wall.

It did not think it would work but we were hopeful. I need to try one on my toilet since the toddler also likes to flush things. But definitely worked well for the fridge as long as you install it the way the picture shows.

These are great. I have a 9yr old son who has an genetic eating disorder where he always thinks he is hungry and will go in the cabinets, fridge and pantry to eat whatever he can get his hands on. This definitely helps.

Everything in cabinets moved to pantry and locks installed. They’ve been up for a week now and he hasn’t even trued opening them. I am so glad we did. Disclaimer: My son does have serving size meals and snacks.

He is not starving and the locks are a highly recommend item per advice of his doctors. They seem to be working and to him being ASD the locks are a very good deterrent to help in this matter. Just follow the instructions.

Works best on clean flat surface. On one I had to screw down on a door trim because it was curved. Push hard and hold for a good amount of time. The longer the better. Adhesion seems to be stronger the longer it sits per day too.

I tried prying one off to see if it would. Short of using a knife to cut behind it and peeling the sticky part, there’s no budging it. He hasn’t even tried using any other tool to jimmy the lock open.

Every time my 18 month old was suddenly quiet and not in my direct sight I would come to find her happily loading up our toilet with toilet paper. I found this product and purchased it given the good reviews and price.

I’m happy to say it was super easy to install and easy for adults to quickly unlatch. I found given the shape of my toilet I had to place the latch in the front. If you can place yours more on the side that would be ideal so the strap won’t be hanging between your legs while you are using the toilet.

Oh and most importantly- I’ve won this battle with my toddler. Is it wrong to laugh at a baby as they try to open the toilet lid?.

Caution : these are not a TRUST WORTHY PRODUCT !These were difficult from the installation process on. Yes the construction of these may SEEM more sturdier than their prior locks but it made it more difficult to push down to get the cabinet/drawer to open and I had two drawer locks break on me just trying to open them so the stuffiness was a misconception.

Also, if you have used older versions, the holes to screw these in don’t match, either on the latches or the catch. Also, they are so long, little hands can pry the cabinet open far enough to get inside unless you put the catch so far back inside that then it’s in the way of whatever you have inside the cabinet.

We actually watched both our twins (with us next to them ) see if they could get into it and they BOTH were able to reach inside , if my wife hadn’t stopped them they would have been able to pull a furniture polish out.

I immediately went to work and put the older locks into place. I would not recommend these to anyone.

This was product was so easy to install that I did it myself no husband needed. I had tried to intall some other ones we found in a discount store myself and I just could not manage to do it. These safety latches are a lot stronger than the other ones as well.

My two little toddlers are no longer able to pull drawers open they do not need to be in. The other latches they just tugged and tugged until they managed to open the drawers anyway. I am going to buy a bunch more of these to put on all our drawers.

I would recommend this product to anyone who has small children. Works great.

After reading all the negative reviews, I had to write one of my own. We had these installed on our daughter’s dresser for almost 2 years, and nobody in our house managed to break any of them. They worked exactly as they were supposed to.

And it’s a two-way latch, meaning if you close it without pressing on the latch, it catches the drawer before it closes all the way so that little fingers can’t get pinched in it when a baby or toddler leans on a drawer or purposely pushes it closed.

It’s an additional safety feature. We were completely happy with this product, and it kept our daughter safe. We will be installing it on our second child’s furniture, too.

We began using the Safety 1st Magnetic Tot Lok several years ago to lock up medication as part of the requirement to qualify as foster parents. Our medicine cupboard is secure and the magnetic “key” is easy to use to get the cupboard open.

Ten years later and the locks have stayed secure. I purchased this new set because we lost the magnetic “keys”. When I consider that the freezer I purchased a year ago for almost $1000 is already broken and the Safety 1st magnetic locks I purchased 10 years ago are still working, the quality is great and it’s a great value.

I’m just hoping I don’t lose these “keys”.

We are very impressed with these! It took us a little while to install them, but once we quit over-thinking it and figured out how simple the installation actually was, it was a breeze. In my opinion, the best thing about these locks is that you are able to disengage them any time you want to.

I have a small baking business that I operate out of my home kitchen. It is wonderful to be able to disengage all of the locks when I am cooking/baking for several hours at a time, and then re-engage them when I am all done (when the grandchildren are visiting).

We have not had any trouble with the magnets being too weak or with them causing the cabinets to stick or be difficult to open. Our grandchildren have pulled and yanked on our locked cabinets trying to get them open but the locks have held on tight.

I have purchased a set for each of our children that have kids and they are all very pleased with them. We just found out that my youngest and his wife are expecting their first baby and I will be providing them with a set of these as well.

These are great for people like us, grandparents who want to childproof their cabinets for when the grandchildren visit, but do not want to deal with the annoyance of child locks all of the time. We simply leave the locks disengaged and before the grandkids come over we just engage the locks for while they are here.

I would like to add that it is hilarious to watch friends & family attempt to figure out how to open the locked cabinets, but it is even funnier to watch our grandchildren try to figure them out!.

Overall nice child locks. Although significantly more expensive than others, I decided to purchase these because I wouldn’t have to drill into my cabinets, they’re hidden when the cabinets are closed and that I they can be set to an unlock mode so it’s like there’s no child lock installed.

Out of 6, 5 work perfectly and the other its latch catches when set to unlock mode as the latch doesn’t want to stay down.

Love! Love! Love! This things are awesome, whomever came up with this is a genius!! I was having a hard time keeping my daughter from getting in the fridge and I tried everything, I would put chairs in front and she would just move them or I would do anything to get her away but nothing would work and I just didn’t like her getting in the fridge because I was afraid she would get hurt so when I got these I put them on the fridge right away and they work amazing, I put them up high so she couldn’t reach them and try to open them since kids are very smart and they can figure things out, and ever since she has not been able to open my fridge, I dont have to keep checking all day to mene sure she closed it all the way, and the best part is that these have a very strong adhesive so I didn’t have to damage my fridge with nails or anything like that and when I have to remove them all I have to do is pull them off.

I really recommend these if you have little kids in your home. This work for a lot of things not only the fridge.

I chose this Child Safety Strap Locks (4 Pack) For Toilet, Fridge, Cabinets, Drawers, Dishwasher, 3M Adhesive No Drilling – by Jool Baby for my 3 year old granddaughter that lives with me. She has recently discovered that she can open the fridge and freezer, and has been in and out of them constantly.

I was happy to get these, and installation was easy. But what I found was that my clever little granddaughter watched us as we would open and close the locks, and she just mimicked the movements we did and after a few tries, she had the fridge one opened.

Frustrating! But she also realized that we put them on because of her, and she has been much better about staying out of the fridge. I think I would recommend these if only for the ease of use. Not every child will do what she did, and they are very effective.

Child proof! We had a lot of trouble keeping our bathroom out of reach from our 3 year old. She would climb everywhere, write everywhere (using soap in our shower glass doors!). These locks saved us a lot of trouble! They are high quality locks, they install fairly easily and have padding to make sure it goes easy on your furniture.

I also liked that the packaging opens easily. Directions were easy to follow. Can’t say enough good things, I would highly recommend these if you are looking to control / child proof in your home.

I got these door locks to prevent my overly curious two year old from accessing our cabinet with cleaning supplies. Our cabinet handles are fairly narrow and we had a hard time finding locks he couldn’t operate and still fit through the handles.

These locks fit perfectly and successfully kept him from hurting himself. They are easy for adults to operate and not frustrating to install. I highly recommend these to anyone who needs to keep little hands from harmful things!.

I used these child proof slids locks to lock up harmful cleaning chemicals stored in the kitchen. Sometimes child proof locks can be super frustrating to use but these worked amazing! Super easy for the adults to use and remove as needed.

Definitely left the kids out of what they didn’t need to be into. Works great and buying more for the snack drawers!.

I had the opportunity to try Dreambaby Secure Catches (7 pack) for cabinets/drawers. Currently, I have a two-year-old daughter who is constantly exploring and trying to get into both my kitchen and bathroom cabinets and drawers.

Installation of Dreambaby’s Secure Catches was truly a cinch, as I followed the measurement instructions and installed them myself in less than 20 minutes on both my kitchen cabinets and drawers. The kit comes with both the plastic catches and and equal amount of the hooks.

I received these secure catches in return for my honest review. They were fairly easy to install on our cabinets. The screws were a bit of a hassle to screw. We have been using them for about a month now & so far we have no problems.

My 2-year-old still hasn’t figured out how to open them & so far we have not had any break. She is able to open the cabinets slightly, but it is not wide enough for her to reach in and grab anything.

However, these catches don’t seem to be top quality. I remember my parents having cabinet latches many years ago & those things were solid. I can’t say the same for these Dreambaby catches. I feel like we have to be very careful when opening our cabinets so that they don’t break.

I’m waiting on the day when my daughter yanks on a cabinet & the latch breaks. I am giving it 4 stars today only because we haven’t had any issues so far. I would probably recommend this to a friend at the moment, but would certainly add in the disclaimer that they seem a little more fragile than cabinet latches used to be.

I have very curious and active 1½ year old twin boys who love to get their little hands into everything. When it came to baby proofing our house we tried several other brands, but wished we tried these Dreambaby safety catches first because they are the best.

They are very easy to install, sturdy when pulled & tugged on and an excellent option for keeping small hands out of cabinets and drawers. Best of all, these latches are hidden from plain view and screw on the inside of the cabinets and drawers, unlike other latches.

I bought this a week ago & recently installed them in my kitchen. If I could return them, I would. The latch doesn’t always pop back up, even when there’s no magnet around so I’m constantly having to check that they actually lock.

I would not recommend using on drawers — they’re bulky, don’t fit in the drawer properly & because of this have a tendency to pop off. I also would not recommend purchasing if you have a strong or determined baby.

Things have changed a lot since I had my first baby over six years ago! Having a new baby seven months ago, I was literally shocked at how much things had changed in such a short amount of time! It was like having a kid in another generation! I love that things are constantly changing and improving, especially when it comes to the safety of my baby.

Dreambaby Adhesive Mag Lock takes safety to a whole new level. We bought a new house after having our first two babies so this house needs to be baby proofed. This time though I’m going to do it right! I’ve realized that not every single cabinet needs to be childproofed, just the ones that have things that could be of danger to him.

We destroyed our first kitchen cabinets by screwing in the child locks to every single one. Luckily, this set comes with the option to JUST use the adhesive. It comes with screws if you want to go that route.

It’s always nice to have options. I installed the first lock myself on the cabinets that are underneath the kitchen sink. It has some cleaners and things I don’t want Jax getting ahold of. Jax is seven months old and crawling and starting to open and close doors and drawers so it’s time for the child-proofing! I read the directions through first and it took me a few minutes to figure out how everything went.

Thank goodness for diagrams with pictures! I’m definitely a visual person. I first attached the Catch portion on one side and then used the included Template to set where I was going to install the Locking Mechanism.

It did take me quite a while to do the first one but once I figured it out, I did my two bathrooms pretty quickly. The thing I like about this is that nothing is seen from the outside and it doesn’t have those annoying things that catch when you try to open the cabinet and always inevitably break or stop catching.

This is a much more sturdy set and doesn’t have the same wear and tear by repeated jerking on the bar part of the typical set. I don’t see these ever getting worn down enough to break and stop working.

To open you just place the “key” against the outside of the cabinet and presto, it releases the lock so you can open it! Magical! As far as the key goes, I see that as the one drawback. What if you lose the key? A regular maginet won’t work and I don’t know about you, but keys have a way of getting lost in my house! Luckily it does come with a little hole in the key so you could put it on a ring.

I put a ring on mine and hung it from something on the fridge. The problem is I also put these in my two bathrooms. I think it’s better to get separate sets for each room if you’re going to do multiple rooms so you don’t have to carry a key from room to room when you just want to get something real quick.

As I mentioned earlier, I love having options and this does have the option to leave unlocked if you choose if baby is at Grandma’s for the weekend OR if Grandma chooses to use these at her house when baby is visiting.

There’s an easy check indicator with red and green lock images to easily see if it’s locked or not before closing. I love these new Dreambaby Adhesive Mag Locks! They are so much better then the old kind we used to have! My husband was actually excited to see how they worked because he was dreading doing the child-proofing for the second time around! I like the idea of the magnetic locks vs. the ones that need to be drilled into the cabinets. These were put into our bathroom and took just a few minutes to install. The install went easy and quick and I like how there are no holes to drill or screw.

I like the option of keeping the door “unlocked” and then being able to lock it. I am just not sure where the best place to store or keep the magnetic key. Make sure you notice on the packaging that the magnet needs to stay away from phones and cameras etc.

These locks compare to the other brand that we used in our kitchen. I had not heard of this brand before but would buy more in the future or recommend to friends and family.
