20 Best Chimney Range Hood (2022 Updated)

I had to vent through the wall so I had to modify one of my hood hanging brackets in order to be able to install the hood as my vent pipe was blocking the area where the top hanging bracket was supposed to be located.

As a result I installed the bracket at a lower level and secured the hood in place by using color matching screws that I installed through the outside of the hood. Also note that the power supply receptacle box has to be installed on the wall section that the vent hood will cover as the bottom hood controls (lights, fan) sit flush against the wall.

Therefore the power supply cord can only be run inside the hood vent not underneath it. The range hood also looks much better when the power supply cord is not exposed.

First of all it looks good. Installation wasn’t too difficult, but you definitely need two people to install it and bolt it up. Sturdy, made from durable stainless steel, and overall easy to clean. The hood has impressive suction power!.

This range hood is very powerful — 760 CFM is more than needed for an average residential kitchen, especially with a 30” gas range. Building code requires a makeup air system for any fan over 400 CFM.

In plain speak, the fan removes too much fresh air out of the room and you need a way to bring more fresh air in so you can breathe or don’t pull backdraft from a chimney or nearby furnace. So although the hood is quite inexpensive, make up air systems are not! HVAC company has to build a separate duct with electronic damper to outside, or you can buy some pre-made systems $2000+.

You’ll need 760 CFM makeup. So, if you’re planning to get an inspection of your remodel, buyer beware.

What an awesome hood this is. It comes with matching shelf which is perfect for decoration, extra storage place and as additional lighting source. So, all of you out there, who has a large island counter in the kitchen and want some range hood above to complement it, just like me, this model is definitely for you.

My Europe range hood is exceptional as it runs rather quietly for a range hood. It is extraordinary both inside and out. It’s fingerprint-free finish is something exceptional! I am quite happy with my purchase so far.

The hood is of awesome quality and the design is so beautiful and unique. Greasy filters always irritate me and cleaning them is a big hassle, thank God this hood saved my life because it has dishwasher-safe filters.

It’s smudge-free finish is a plus. Loved it at first sight.

I have used it only for couple days. Seems to be powerful enough yet not as loud as my previous hood. Design is very pretty, I have received many complements. Was disappointed to learn that it has no remote control for the prize you pay $2499.

00 Learned after purchase that it has to be installed prior shipping for additional WOW $399. 00. Would be nice if it was mentioned somewhere when completing purchase.

This artistic hood is all what I needed for my house and it perfectly complements the aesthetics of the kitchen and lounge. It has powerful Illuminated glass body which doesn’t got affected by heat, it stays beautiful as new, and is very easy to clean.

It’s energy-efficient LED lighting is a great advantage, since changing bulbs now and then could be pain in the ass.

I have missed New York ever since I moved to Georgia 5 years ago. While a range hood can never be a replacement for living in the Big Apple, having this baby installed in my kitchen definitely helps with the occasional home-sickness giving my kitchen these ?big city? vibes :).

Works well and looks great. I just wished they could make these a bit quieter. Full speed gets noisy. One of the halogen bulbs burned out after 6 months of use. LED lights is the way to go people

Have had it installed for a couple of months now, it is loud on the highest setting but it works! I find the buttons a little strange you have to press very lightly but overall am very happy with it.

The hood fits perfectly into the theme of our 100 year old farm house. The option to add the stainless steel moulding was the perfect touch. We only have 7′ ceilings so had to purchase the short ceiling kit in addition to the hood.

We went with the recirculating option and while it does a good job we mY end up doing a direct vent as we can still set off the smoke detector! It’s not a quiet fan by any means but it is great quality for a very reasonable price.

I love love love this range hood. Its great quality, solid and very well made. I will be using it with my all white cabinets, white countertops and stainless appliances. I chose this because its eye catching,and different enough that I know I wont see it in anyone elses kitchen.

We just installed this 2 weeks ago and I must say very happy with our purchase. Premium Home Source had the best pricing available online. Happy we found you! Took a little extra time for delivery since we’re in out in the middle of no where but driver eventually found us.

I wish I read the reviews before purchasing this product. At first I was very excited about this product, it looks beautiful and seemed to be working just fine. Then one day, the lights flicker on the low setting, like a seizure waiting to happen.

The brighter setting works like normal. There are several other reviews that state the same problem! We are waiting for a technician to address this. Absolutely disappointing to have something malfunction so often for such a high price.

We’ve owned this for a little over a year and it’s a very good vent hood. The lights are nice and bright, the exhaust is very powerful and it’s easy to clean. The glass control panel makes it look nice as well.

The filters are easy to remove and pop into the dishwasher for cleaning which is great. The controls are good although sometimes the touch sensitivity could be better. The timed off feature which shuts the vent off after a couple minutes is useful as well.

Somewhat surprisingly the remote control feature via the GE app is useful sometimes as well. My only problem was that the first vent delivered had a poorly working touch control which made it almost impossible to use.

We had to use the remote control for a while. Since the part was unavailable, GE replaced the entire unit which was nice service.

We got this hood installed 2 weeks ago. The look and the design is good. Since the time of installation, we noticed few issues. The light on the hood flickers when we try to set it to night light and the clock doesn’t work.

The vent seems to work fine so far. We found online that people are facing similar issues as ours. I am surprised that GE didn’t find a solution to fix the problem. We called the customer service and they are sending a technician to replace the board which they seem to know that is the issue.

I wish GE fixed the issue before they sell the product to the customers. It is under warranty now and GE is taking care of it but I am worried what if it happens after a year, then I will end up paying for something that is faulty to begin with.

I got my item last week and we had it installed on the same day. At first I thought its a bit smaller than what I need in my kitchen but it turned out okay. The color matches my stainless steel cabinets, too, which is great.

Id like to maintain that industrial vibe my husband loves. My only problem is the light doesnt cover as much of my cooking area as I need. I have an induction cookpot next to the stove you see. Or maybe its just mounted too low.

I guess I just have to cut a portion of the chimney to raise it up a bit.

This brand probably has the most number of product styles and designs. They’re obviously serious about catering to every single household. I particularly like this range because it gives my kitchen a clean and industrial appeal.

I’d like my kitchen to look as close as a commercial kitchen as possible. Makes me want to use it more often.

I find it strange that I only see this brand on this listing site, or maybe I haven’t visited that many listing sites yet. But this brand is one heck of a stunner to be honest. I’ve just received this range hood and had it installed yesterday.

Now my kitchen is fresher and more comfortable than ever before. My kids have started hanging out in their with me when I’m cooking, which for me is a good sign.

When our range hood set arrived, I wasn’t surprised by how excellent its quality is. We already have a few items from this brand and they all perform well. Finally, we can keep our kitchen smoke and smell free.

Even though the smell of fried breakfast spreading through the house seems like a good thing, better than an alarm clock for the kids, I prefer fresh indoor air.

1. The specification from the manufacture for model SV218B2-I36 at (sorry cannot inlcude the link, as ebay does not allow), mentioned it should have “Dual Electronic Control Panels with LCD Display”.

However the one I received only has one in the front. It is mentioned that the MPN number of this range hood is the same SV218B2-I36, how come it comes with only one panel? 2. I have an island mounted range hood (Cavaliere 198D 36 Island Mount), which I decided to replace after 9 years.

The chimney size is 11. 16″ x 14. 61″. The major reason I choose this range hood over other candidates is that I wanted to reuse the chimney, at lease the frame / rack inside. Based on the link here (sorry cannot inlcude the link, as ebay does not allow), this range hood should have the same size chimney, again MPNs are the same SV218B2-I36.

however the one comes with a much smaller chimney size. I thought if the chimney frame could be reused, the installation should be much simpler and I could do it myself. It ends up I have to spend more than $400 to hire a contractor to completely change the ceiling opening for the new chimney size, install the smaller chimney frame.

It is a pain. 3. Based on the spec, this range hood has the 900 CFM maximum airflow, I did not feel it stronger than my previous onewhich is only 600CFM. It turned out that both this one (SV218B2-I36) and my old one (198D-I36) end up using a motor of the same power (218w).

Dont understand with the same power motor, how the new one can generate half more (300CFM) airflow. Don’t tell me this is an innovative design. 4. This one comes with 3 filters. Unfortunately, one filter comes with a couple of baffle pieces bent.

how come? 5. The installation guild is nothing else other than a piece of wasted paper, completely useless. It looks like this should be my last range hood with Cavaliere.

I needed to replace my existing old range hood and had very specific criteria. The Cavaliere hood met all of my criteria. The ordering process was not as simple as other brands, but after contacting Cavaliere directly, their support group helped me through it.

The hood shipped as expected. It arrived neatly packed. Directions were very clear. I did the installation myself, which took me about a day. Toughest part is connecting the exhaust. Everything else was really straight forward.

The fan has 6 speeds and offers a great blend of quiet and exhaust power. I have not had to set it past 4 to take care of heat and exhaust while cooking. It’s not too loud. I can still have a conversation in the kitchen.

The range hood looks great. Nice mix of a commercial kitchen look with a small profile. It does not overpower the kitchen, but is a very nice complement. I’m glad that I found this product. I appreciate the 3-year motor warranty, which is the longest that I found.

We have had this in our kitchen for awhile now and I am really happy with it. A cool note is the function where a light blinks to remind you whenever it is time to check your filters. The exhaust is a little loud but it is seriously worth it, because it really ventilates super well.

The lights aren’t too bright but they are good for their purpose, which is a plus for me. I think the biggest things to mention are that this hood is a seriously good value for the money, and it is a really attractive item for your kitchen.

Like, it really does look awesome. The only negative I can think of is that the first one we received didn’t work properly but it was quickly replaced, so it wasn’t really a big deal. Overall I’m satisfied with everything.

So far so good. We have tested it and it appears to work well. I was glad to discover that the lights have 3 different settings, as I was a little concerned that with just 2 small leds it wouldn’t put out enough light.

There are 6 fan settings that appear to be adequate but we’ll know more after we get it installed and start using it on the regular.

This range hood is made out of industrial-thickness steel that seems very durable. The fan is strong enough so that I rarely ever have to use speeds 5 or 6, in fact the only time I can remember using 6 is when I had people over and I was cooking for 20.

On the lower speeds the fan is really quiet. I also really like the lights, they illuminate your entire working area nicely and have a warm tint. The whole thing just has a very high end feel to it, and it’s hard to believe the price is as low as it is.

It’s a very nice unit.

I am generally very selective about range hoods. I need them to be very powerful in order to get rid of all the grease, smell and smoke. But this one definitely meets my high standards. It even looks stylish, which is not something you see as often in the higher CFM range.

It is the first thing that people notice when they walk into my kitchen and I am always getting compliments on how nice it looks.

Can’t gush enough over this range hood. We’ve had it installed last week and since then our kitchen has been less messy and less sticky. Perhaps that’s what happens when less smoke and steam is spreading and sticking on surfaces.

The greas that collected on the filters after just a few days shows how much steam we’re dealing with. Fortunately, the filters, and the whole machine, are very easy to clean.

I ordered my item several weeks ago. It arrived three days after I called them, just as they promised. The crew was kind enough to help us install it. They even gave us a few pointers on how to operate and take care of it.

I wouldn’t have known it’s save to wash the filters in the dishwasher if they haven’t told us. The product itself is fantastic–has all the features we need for a smoke and smell-free kitchen.

We have this in our new home. Good heavens I didn’t realize it’s also from this store. I’m just here to look for a microwave but let me leave a review since I am quite impressed. I like the range hood because it’s very convenient to operate and the filters never give me a hard time when I need to clean them.

I just put it in the dishwasher and it’s done.

The only thing good about this product is the aesthetics. Otherwise, it is useless. The light bulbs are extremely difficult to exchange, and once you pop one out, it Is impossible to put a new light bulb back in without breaking all of your fingernails.

The wiring that goes to the light bulbs is very loose as well. Just by tapping on the front of the hood, the light bulbs will go out. Lastly, when cooking, the fan only removes odors when it is on high.

When on the high setting, it is extremely loud. Very disappointed in this product.

Hood 1: Opened it up, it was severely blemished, straight out of the box. We’re talking seriously ugly. Factory problem. Appliance store said “no problem”, we’ll replace it. Hood 2: Looked great out of the box.

Looked great on the wall. Turned it on—it makes a terrible high-pitched chirping sound you can hear from a long distance. Called for service. Service tech said “need to replace the motor”, or since it’s brand new, appliance store said you can order another one.

Ok. Hood 3: another one blemished straight out of the box. What on earth is going on in this factory? Do they have no quality control? So the saga continues. we are waiting on unit 4. Very frustrating.

On the plus side, the one I have now looks nice, and it seems to function fine without excessive fan noise (other than the aforementioned high-pitched chirp). Lights do a good job illuminating the cooktop (though I would prefer LEDs to halogens).

My ratings are for unit 2, which is on my wall while I await unit 4. I like the color and my other slate appliances (fridge and DW) were pristine.

I’ve been want a Vented hood like this for a long time. The sleek appearance along with its great features make it a joy to have in the kitchen. The controls are easy to reach and use. They are well lit and the push buttons are easy to touch with just one finger without having to look up for the correct button.

I would have rated this a 5 star but there were issues installing the hood duct covers. Ending up with having 3 different people trying to install it per the instructions. An electrician, HVAC installer, and finally the project manager.

The lower cover would not fold properly over the upper cover and the project manager ended drilling holes into the lower cover to secure it to the upper cover. The cover is not esthetically pleasing but at least it is on.

Was really happy with the hood vent and blower we purchased from Z-line. However, the extension was not so good. The quality of the extension doesn’t match the rest of the vent hood. Also when we stained them both, the color on the extension is off from the wood on the vent hood.

The extension also had some scratches in it that we hand to sand out.

I’m highly satisfied with Broan’s stainless steel pyramidal chimney range hood. Installation instructions are comprehensive and I found them to be precise. At 30″ in width, it is a space-conscious solution that performs well under pressure.

It features touch controls, two light settings (low is bright, bright is blinding. which is a good thing), and quiet operation. It is ideal for a standard size range and provides a mind-numbing 640 CFM exhaust rating.

If I had two ranges, I would still be far into the clear for safe air quality. I appreciate that there is a vent-free package, sold separately, for kitchens that are lacking in ductwork such as mine.

We purchased this hood from big box store. The delivery was very smooth. The hood has 3 fan settings and 2 light brightness to choose from. The 380 cfm fan is strong enough to suck out the air. The smallest fan speed also very quiet.

We replaced the lights with led gu10 bulbs for energy saving and better light color. The installation was very straight forward. Overall we are very satisfied with this purchase.

We purchased the PLJW 101, the predecessor to this model, 3 1/2 years ago to sit over our Capital Range, the model with the infraQ indoor bbq grill. The rangehood is brushed stainless and a perfect complement to the range, with great controls and a great look.

Quiet and extremely powerful. We also use the warming lights regularly, which is one of the reasons we bought it initially–few competitors’ produccts have warming light sockets. We have run the range hood almost every day.

But, it stopped working last night. Customer service at Proline answered immediately the next morning, diagnosed problem and sent me a new touchpad at no cost. Their customer service is as good as their product! I wouldn’t hesitate buying their product again, or recommending it!.

Product was well packaged & delivered promptly. The hood can exhaust top or back. The conversion is simple. The unit is very high capacity and very quiet. We live in a super sealed & highly energy efficient home.

This hood enables us to live without cooking odors building up.

Very nice range hood, with a high end look. The description makes it sound like you will be getting 2000 cfm capacity, however the blower is single and only rated at 1000 cfm. I would not have purchased this particular unit had I know it was only 1000 cfm.

the Cafe range hood is much more expensive that other products that you can purchase at places like Lowe’s and Home Depot. Hopefully the price brings superior quality with it. Product install went well and seems to operate okay.

When I got the unit home and went through the parts, I found that the damper that was supplied with the device had fallen apart and the hinge wire was missing. I was able to make my own as this part is needed when venting outside.

Unfortunately when it’s windy a pressure difference occurs between the inside and the outside which causes the damper to open then shut maki a lot of noise. Only other thing that I would change is that the lights that come with the device are not LED so they tend to generate a lot of heat.

Not sure at this point in LED technology why GE wouldn’t install LED bulbs in the unit.

We purchased in August ’20 from BestBuy along with matching Cafe range, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. So far only the hood and the microwave have arrived. All the other units are on backorder and dealing with BestBuy has been a bit of a nightmare.

They cancelled the order for the dishwasher and now say they cannot reorder, dates continue to slip. To add insult to injury the hood was installed last week and there’s a dent in the lower duct cover.

I have asked GE to send a replacement duct, waiting for confirmation. Summary, horrible service from BestBuy, but hood looks great, if we ever get the range, dishwasher and fridge they should look fantastic together.

Simple great features. Button functions are solid and simple. Dual lighting is a plus. Filter is in and out for simple cleaning. Quieter than most others in this category with good air movement.

This Range Hood works wonders compared to my microwave vent. Love how easy it is to take out the vent screens and run it in the dishwasher. Keeping my kitchen cleaner now. Only problem is once in a while the light bar keeps flashing for no reason.

Found out need to reset it?.

Replaced a older Zephyr after 12 years. Looks great and has a lot of power. We rarely turn it up higher than the first fan setting. LED lights look great too.

Bought this hood because the stainless matched my other appliances. Have all whirlpool. In a very short time the lights quit working. Ordered replacements. The 2 light bulbs cost half of what I paid for the hood.

Took couple months to get the lights. Worked for few months then the lights stopped working again. Lights are the weak point of the hood. Don’t like cooking in the dark. Not spending another dime on this hood.

Learned my lesson. Don’t buy!.

Overall not impressed. – Although the manual says the hood fan can be mounted to 9” ceilings, it has to be mounted 34” above the stovetop in order for that to work. At that height only the high setting of the fan actually collects the steam/smoke from cooking.

– The anchors supplied rely on two tiny tabs to keep them in place. If there is even a small void inside the wall, it renders these anchors useless. I would recommend buying new anchors. – It always seems to be a fight to get the grease filters back in.

It uses a plastic clip that never seems to line up properly with the holes in the fan base. – Packing tape is used directly on the product for shipping meaning you will be using goo-gone to clean the appliance.

Overall not the quality I would expect from a $850 MSRP product.

Vent hood was part of an appliance package for my kitchen remodel. It vents to the outside; powerful and quiet. Has two LED lights that are nicely efficient. Hood is stainless steel- very attractive.

Does a great job- better than anticipated!.

Purchased a new home build. The installed brand of appliances are GE profiles. Within those 2 years, have had issues with the refrigerator not making ice, which was replaced by warranty. The microwaves heating element went a few months after the warranty expired which results in a $500+ repair.

Now the vent hood fan has stopped working. I don’t believe GE produces quality appliances with all the costly repairs. The expectation would be they last more than 2 years. Very unsatisfied customer!.

I am a big fan of Cafe appliances, but not this hood. A few issues with the hood, there are brackets that hold the upper chimney to the wall. Just try to install those brackets to the chimney before you install them to the wall, they do not fit.

I found this out after spending an afternoon trying to get the upper chimney installed. Solved by making the holes in the chimney larger, disappointed. We are using the vent on the recirculating mode, the charcoal filter has been on backorder at GE for over two months.

It moves air, but does not filter without the back ordered filter. Looks good, moves air, but not what I bought it for. The four other Cafe/ monogram appliances I bought all got 5 stars from me, not this thing.

Hello, We have selected the venthood for our new home and have a question on the placement of duct hole. In the instruction manual it says the model is vertical duct, will there be any performance reduction because the duct hole is on the wall, meaning the duct will take a 90 degree turn while venting out.

There is no need for return air as City threshold is 400CFM. Appreciate your response.
