The “around-the-head” design is a good idea. The chin strap does work. However, it is made of a material that causes an uncomfortable irritation under the jaws because the stretchy material is coarse, and not soft enough.

It is not something I could have known from the pictures. This item also does not completely prevent the escape of air from the lips while using the CPAP machine. If it is an option,. I would recommend trying on a chin strap before buying.

In this case it was not an option. In the event that there are no other more viable options, I would recommend this as a last resort. Also, I bought the one recommended for my head size, and it is a little small.

Next time I would go with the XXL.

Bought a few others and they do work, but this one is the one this old man has set his mind on. It fits comfortably and keeps this mouth shut all night long. The wife likes that part! I also wear the CPap stuff, and this strap works well with it.

Too. in the morning you dont have that imprint of straps embedded in your checks for an hour or so. My monies on this one!.

They have only one size. Large. But I cut off the excess. Works great. Much better than others that slip out of position during the night. I had another that Ive had for years so I bought a new one here.

They are excellent and I ordered another one yesterday so Im using one while laundering the other one.

I have purchased several of this type of chin strap. This is the only one I have ever used that actually works. The design is perfect. I like to take a nap in my reclining chair. My mouth opens and my throat gets really dry.

This can trigger a number of unpleasant problems. Anyway, this chin strap keeps my mouth shut, fits perfectly and is quite comfortable. What more can you ask for?.

I really like the chin strap, however I did have to cut it down and I added some sweatshirt fabric where my chin goes as it was rubbing too much. It is soo much better than the chin strap that I was using.

I have had very severe sleep apnea since 1996 and treated with a cpap and a full face mask. While the system treats my sleep apnea perfectly, I have always had difficulty with my mouth dropping open causing small air leaks which make noises that wake me.

When I purchase a new mask seal it is soft enough to take care of this problem, for about a week! I purchased this XL chin strap which solved that problem, permanently. It’s easy to use, I can put it on by myself, and there’s no discomfort.

I did have to trim my beard closer, but no problem with that. 10 star!.

This product is thicker than previous ones we tried and has worked better. The thicker material tends to last longer and keep the mouth closed better. That being said, though, it would help if they lasted longer than they do.

I’m sure part of the reason for needing frequent replacements is the sweating factor, especially for those who are heavy (as is the case with many folks who have sleep apnea). It’s a good value for the price compared to those in medical supply places.

For folks without insurance or for those whose insurance does not replace this piece of equipment often enough, this is very helpful. I would reorder again as needed.

It’s helping my father with his dry mouth condition by keeping his jaw closed while sleeping. None of his MD’s suggestions worked until we bought this chin strap! I drew marks on the red surfaces for the most comfortable strap position.

Now dad doesn’t worry about undoing the straps because he can put them back in the right place. Suggestion: It could use an indicator to point out the top and back.

I bought this for my 11 year old who tried two other chinstraps and they would irritate my sons skin when they got sweaty. This one is great. He’s been wearing it for a couple weeks now and no complaints.

I ordered this online and wanted Athletic Gold since it would be similar to my son’s helmet color. When I picked it up, it was not gold at all, but more of a construction yellow. Now I have to return it and get a different one.

I bought this chinstrap for my grandson about one month ago. He plays on the Freshman team for his High school. He was complaining about the standard strap on his helmet and how the chinstrap was rubbing his chin.

I read about the Sportstar and the gel and felt it might help. I asked him if it was an improvement and his response was that it felt more comfortable than the former.

I have used the Ruby chinstrap before. This one is more comfortable (after I wrapped some t-shirt material around the chin part), doesn’t stretch as much/easily, and can be adjusted tighter than the Ruby.

It does still stretch some, but mostly just the first few days/weeks then stays pretty stable. I cut off an old piece of Velcro strap and put it on the slotted strap area, on the other end of the rear strap loop, to keep the slotted section from splitting too far apart (the slotted section is too long, for a lot of adjustment).

Needs a cushion material between the chin portion and your chin, or the seam in the middle will irritate your chin (and leave a long red mark). I cut up squares of a clean old cotton t-shirt (quadruple layers) and that works perfectly for me and easier to clean than the headband – just throw in the washer.

This way you need to only wash the headband itself once in about every few months (without sweat). Also I was told by the CPAP pro that the Ruby pulls backward on the chin and that’s bad for sleep therapy.

This one just pulls upward and she recommended it.

It’s a hassle to put on and it makes you look even dumber than you did with with just the CPAP mask on, but it’s a game changer. I’m waking up much less often and my mouth isn’t painfully dry in the morning – The CPAP was pushing air out of my mouth and it was leading to some terrible symptoms like a red, super irritated tongue.

That’s over now. So glad I bought this thing!.

Have used nasal pillows for over 10 years, but my wife complained about snoring, so I ordered the full mask. I tried it for 7 nights, with multiple adjustments. I suspect because I’m a side sleeper the mask would leak when I turned and the pressure would just to 15-16 and I would awake to loud leaking.

I ordered some new nasal pillows today and returning the mask.

This product is borderline useless for me, and would probably fail over time. I’ll order something else and throw this one away. I doubt that whatever I choose next could possibly be worse than this.

Details:1) It’s too short. I’m not huge, nor is my head, but I have to really stretch this thing to make the velcro pads meet. 2) It’s too wide. It reaches from near my adam’s apple to my chin. The upward pressure on my throat makes my obstructive apnea way worse.

If I move it forward, it wraps around my chin, interfering with my mask. The only way that I can use it is to fold it in half or thirds under my chin. 3) The two provided auxiliary straps aren’t long enough.

Again. my head is not overly large, but I really have to stretch the small bands to make them reach; then they put a lot of pressure on my head. 4) The ‘hook part’ of the velcro is really strong! Consequentially it begins to shred whatever it hooks onto.

5) The ‘aggressive’ velcro hooks really like to attach to the fabric of my mask’s headgear. That’s not just a nuisance; it begins to shred the headgear.

this is the only chin strap I found to work for me. Yes, I did order the smaller size because all others were too big. Yes, it can become uncomfortable. Depending how much I move around. It presses on the lower ears and causes a little bit of painful area.

I found that I have to adjust my cpap full face mask due to leaking to accommodate the added thickness of this one compared to others. However, the others didn’t work and this does!!.

The strap does well to keep the mouth shut all night. It stays in place throughout. Be sure not to pull too tight as it is not necessary and will reduce bed head marks. I have to be sure to locate far enough forward to not put pressure on my ears.

Otherwise they will hurt a bit in the morning. I have small ears. So someone with bigger ears will have to take even more care.

The chinstrap is much lower quality than the original Halo from Breatheware. I was hoping the OEM was just overcharging since they were the original, but this one is really just not as good. Much thinner material both width and thickness, feels more “delicate”.

I’m scared to tighten it too much for fear it may rip out one of the sides. It’s not a scam or fraud or anything, you get exactly what you order, it’s just that I wish I had paid a little more and gotten the good one instead of gambling on this.

This chin strap feels light weight which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I don’t know how well it will hold up. It may be made very well, but I’ll wait and see. My only complaint at this time is that it is not very comfortable.

It rests right on the edge of my ears to be able to stay on my chin. I would prefer it to cup the chin because it feels like it will just slide off while you sleep.

At a price of nearly $30 I have found this to be not a very good value. The materials are not of great quality and I have found that the straps are a bit slippery, which causes it to slip forward on my head and limit its effectiveness.

I keep looking for the ideal chin strap to wear with my CPAP mask, and, unfortunately, I have not found it in this one.

I’m happy I finally found a strap that keeps my mouth closed and does not give me headaches! I am prone to headaches if I have a strap around the lower back side of my head but the strap on this model is up much higher so it doesn’t cause headaches.

I also like that the tightness is easily adjustable. My mouth really likes to pop open during the night so it takes a pretty firm strap to keep it closed and this one is tight enough without being uncomfortable.

I’ve read some other reviews that complained about how it irritates your your ears, but I’ve discovered I can slide it far enough forward that it doesn’t touch my ears at all and yet stays firmly in place.

After seven years of different chinstraps, usually sent at random by my medical supplier, they happened to send me this style, which is far superior to any of the flimsy ones I got previously. It actually works! The fit is gentle yet firm enough, and the webbed design of the fabric lets it breathe.

The chinstrap does not build up heat against my face even though it is wide. I wash it on cold, gentle, and let it air-dry, and it’s good as new. I wanted to get another one for a back up, but my supplier was unable to find one.

An internet search revealed the mother lode source for supplies – cpap. com – and there was my very favorite “Original Deluxe Chinstrap” by Phillips Respironics! This product is great, and so was my customer service experience during my phone order.

Been using this three years. The small retainer strap that keeps it in place is crucial. The strap itself is too wide. Look at the picture: that wide strap under my jaw feels like it’s choking me. So once I got the strap tension perfect, I folded it in half and put a few stitches in to keep it there.

It works perfectly. If it was designed so the wide part was on my head, and the narrow part was on my chin, I would give this a 5 rating. But I am going to buy another one so I always have one ready to go.

This is the most comfortable chin strap that I have found. This is the one my sleep therapist originally ordered for me. But Medicare made me go with Rotech. Rotech sends me Sunset, which is a lower quality, and comes with thicker stability straps, uncomfortable to sleep on.

The Respironics Deluxe Chin Strap is comfortable and still strong. The stability strap is lightweight enough to sleep in comfort. I highly recommend it!.

I was hoping that this product would be at least decent since it is from Respironics. It is worthless. The quality is abysmal. It does not work at all like the picture shows. It mounts to the straps of your mask and will not stay connected.

It is such a piece of trash I threw it away after the first night.

this is the only chin strap that works for me. i have tried many others but none are as helpful as this one. unfortunately, my cpap supplier, lincare does not carry this model.

I’ve tried many chin straps that are meant to keep the sleeper’s mouth shut while using CPAP equipment. One, made from a net-like material, could easily stretch far enough to fit from my horse’s muzzle to his ears! Others, including the CareFusion, are made of neoprene; the difference between CareFusion’s chin straps and others is the thickness of the neoprene.

The thinner the neoprene, the less capable it is of keeping a jaw closed during sleep. As neoprene chin straps are used they inevitably stretch to some degree. CareFusion’s Ruby Adjustable Chin Strap is the only one for me because the adjustability allows me to extend its life by tightening it.

I never sleep without it!.

I cannot rate the chinstrap because I have not used them vet. They look OK but will they stretch quickly. The older ruby reds were good.

Im allergic to neoprene, and, having ordered a couple of other chinstraps that broke me out, I reverted to ordering by the reorder number. worked like a charm! No more rash or itching! Great product! I WILL be reordering! Thanks.

We have some very picky VA patients that use CPAP and BiPAP machines. The ones that use chinstraps absolutely love the way these fit and function. I have ordered close to 100 of them in the past 8-10 months and have never had an issue with the quality or fit.

This is a reorder for me and it has been the best chin strap that I have used to date. This does not irritate my chin, like some others. I have used others that have fallen apart or stretched out after a month.

I’m an in between size, and there is enough adjustment to accommodate me, plus there is some stretching as it wears in.

I was surprised that the straps didn’t have the same Velcro loop attachment surface for the adjustments as the headband. Rather than attaching directly to the headband fabric over time it looks like connecting and reconnecting will rough it up a lot.

One strap can remain stationary but the other must be pulled loose each time. It was successful in keeping the mouth closed.

I cringe when it’s time to buy more chinstraps, because there are so many poor quality ones. I had accidentally bought 5 more expensive chinstraps last time, and been very very frustrated. Chinstraps are expensive – you don’t want them worn out after 2 weeks.

Tried a lot of different style chinstraps for working with my CPAP mask, and most go over the point of your head and are thick and interfere with the mask’s placement or mask’s straps. This is a great chinstrap.

It’s lightweight (I don’t know how long it will last), easily slips on and off, and the straps are really thin, so thin my Dreamwear mask can slip over it and not interfere.

Finally, a product that offers great quality at a great price. These are exactly what I needed and will definitely give me the peace of mind that I need to know that I am maintaining my equipment properly.

I have been using the Amara Full Face Mask for a year and a half (since January 2021). Overall, it has been a good mask. Some leakage at times. The velcro head straps are fairly weak and I found myself adjusting constantly.

This is the same problem I have found with other CPAP head gear as well. I am not sure why some engineer can’t come up with a head gear that is meant to be slipped over the head and using adjustment clips in conjunction with velcro straps to provide a more secure and semi-permanent set up setting.

I ended up having to sew the straps in place, which bought me a couple of extra months use. The velcro probably has 30% of it’s original holding ability, which is going to happen after repeated use.

Smashing, My experience thus far with rapid cpap has far exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately my recent replacement mask order left a lot to expectations. I ordered a mask (way overdue) however the system burped and I awaited my email confirmation.

I did not receive any email, snail mail, or even smoke signals. I assumed due to the lack of confirmation that the system burp had killed the first order. Needing the replacement mask, I ordered a new one (from you) there were no ‘possible duplicate’ warnings so I paid up.

A few days later, the second order arrived and I was happy. Over a week later the magical mystery first order arrived with no explanation and fully billed to me. I feel like I was conned into buying two, whilst I am aware that in time I will use the second (ordered first) mask In tiime.

I am sad to say it is a very uncomfortable device. If you follow the instructions it leaks. If you tighten the straps it is actually painful. The “gel” part is misleading, it is just a little thicker cushion.

So I think they will give a store credit and maybe I will try another type of mask. I have been using CPAP for five years, unfortunately it turns out that it is one of the devices that has been recalled because it may cause cancer.

They will replace the machine but in speaking with them, they have no idea when. Pretty complicated, and no relief in sight.
