20 Best Drugstore Color Safe Shampoo (2022 Updated)

I was so excited to try this product after all the amazing reviews about it. I have been using the shampoo and conditioner for the last 2. 5 months and unfortunately cannot say I love it. My scalp usually gets mild flakes with seasonal changes that last a couple of weeks and I would add in head and shoulders at that point.

Decided to try this product and my scalp has never peeled and been so full of dandruff ever! My scalp was peeling off in massive chunks to the point where it looked like I had a sunburn over and over again.

It was the entire top of my head that would completely flake off. I only use the shampoo on the top of my head but even with using the conditioner, my ends have seemed to become dryer and brittle looking even though I don’t use any heat products or styling products in my hair.

I’ve noticed some people have said this product helped with hair loss. I naturally lose quite a bit of hair in the shower but haven’t noticed an improvement in that. Absolutely love the smell and feeling of the product on my scalp but just very sad it didn’t work for me.

Side note: I tried to publish my review on their website directly and they refused to publish it, not sure why.

I originally bought this product after seeing multiple people recommend it on YouTube. Seeing these people posing with their long, gorgeous hair next to this shampoo made it very easy for me to take the leap and spend around $15 on this shampoo.

I was also looking for a clarifying shampoo that I could use once a week to remove build up from my hair, so this seemed perfect. I read many reviews where people claimed this product made their hair fall out, but didn’t believe these reviews because I thought there must have been other issues (perhaps health related) that caused hair loss? Well, after two months of using this soap, I definitely noticed an increased amount of my hair falling out.

It wasn’t anything drastic, but enough to make me realize that there was definitely something going on, which is why I decided to switch to the WOW apple cider vinegar shampoo (it has been a month of using this shampoo and I do not notice as much hair falling out as I did with the tea tree shampoo).

I did love how the tea tree shampoo made my scalp feel, because the tingling sensation made me feel like my scalp was being detoxed and cleaned. The scent of the shampoo was also very lovely and fresh, but the amount of hair I lost while using this soap was all I needed to put it down forever.

I bought the travel size of this shampoo to test out how it would do on my hair before I splurged on the big bottle. I was also a bit wary of the reviews that claimed it caused hair loss. I have wavy and thick hair with low porosity.

I have a very dry, itchy, flakey scalp as well. I read that tea tree oil could help soothe your scalp, so I thought I would try it. I washed my hair as directed. Used about 3 dime sizes for my whole head and massaged it into my scalp.

It lathers alright. Not much suds. That made me think that it wasn’t cleaning my hair enough so I was tempted to put more shampoo on my head but I did not. The smell is very strong, but it does not linger in your hair post-wash.

Usually, my head begins to itch after I wash my hair, but with this shampoo, there was no itch! So I was pleasantly surprised by that. I finished off my hair with the tea tree special conditioner. After I finished showering and dried my hair with a microfiber towel, I noticed no residue on my hair and it felt very clean! I couldn’t see any flakes and my scalp wasn’t itchy! Just from this, I am very impressed with this shampoo.

To address the hair loss comments, I did not notice any significant hair loss when I used the shampoo. I am the type to shed a lot of hair as it is since I have thick hair. I also wash my hair about once a week, so I tend to lose a bit of hair because of that because stray hairs build up over that time.

So this might not be good for someone who has thin hair or shampoos frequently. But for me, it works great. Hair loss was about the same or slightly less than usual. I washed my hair about 5 days ago and my hair is a lot less flakey and itchy.

It still feels relatively clean with some oil started to build up on my hair. By this time, my hair is usually an oily, flakey mess, but it is not now because of this shampoo! Will definitely splurge for the large bottle!.

This is literally the only thing that got out old semi-permanent hair color that wouldn’t budge. You would think semipermanent would wash out easily but this particular one didn’t. I tried all the internet “tricks”; vitamin C powder, baking soda, other clarifying shampoos, dandruff shampoo etc.

This shampoo wasn’t drying or damaging either. I did have to use a processing cap and leave it on my head 45 minutes, rinsed out, then used a deep conditioner.

I’ve tried sooo many color protecting shampoos even from salons and they seem to strip semi permanent color out no matter how cold of water I use. I’m so glad I tried this I notice a lot less fading plus it actually cleans ur scalp and hair.

Most color protecting shampoos make your hair heavy and greasy and leave a film but this actually makes ur scalp and hair feel clean which is important Bc I have a very oily scalp. I believe this is the only shampoo that actually was made to protect semi perm hair color which is awesome since most color protecting shampoos are formulated for Demi and perm hair color and not necessarily semi.

My scalp is sensitive as well and I haven’t had any issues 10/10 for me.

I have colored copper hair. If u know, u know it’s very hard to keep the color in. I thought this was a good price and the brand is known for outrageous colors. Unfortunately, after trying many MANY times, it always made my hair so weirdly greasy at the back.

I tried so many different methods and no matter what it just made my hair look weighed down and even more worn out. Had to return.

I have received Color Security Shampoo For All Hair Types as a gift from Color Wow. Personally test use by myself. Would like to give my zeal and honest opinions of this product, leave my authentic thoughts and feelings about the product we have tried and this is an exchange the product.

I received it as a gift, complimentary from Color Wow. I’ve been using Color WOW for a couple of years now. I was looking for a shampoo that would allow me to keep my color vibrant and would allow me to go a couple of days without shampooing.

This product did that! I wash my hair twice a week and I probably could go longer. Looks great at the end of three days without washing. When I first starting using WOW the first week, I had to do a rinse and repeat, due to low lather.

Once I got the amount down & all the other products that I had been using were out my hair its been one wash & go. I just do my scalp with WOW & I do a good conditioner & Argan oil on ends of hair & blow dry.

I haven’t tried their other products so cannot comment. But you won’t regret trying Color WOW Shampoo!.

I bought this shampoo and matching conditioner after reading all the good reviews on their website. I also own some of their other products, which are ok, but nothing special, especially, not for the price.

This shampoo is possibly the worst shampoo I have ever used in my entire life! Absolutely stripped my thick, natural hair and made it look and feel like straw. No amount of conditioner and leave in conditioner was able to fix it.

It was an expensive mistake, put me off the brand completely. Much prefer the Moroccanoil brand or ColorProof, which unfortunately is no longer available in the UK.

Cleans well, only lathers a tiny bit, and smells like melon. Doesn’t leave a residue. Not overly hydrating for bleached and/or colour treated hair. I can go 2-4 days without washing my hair. It does take some of the colour out of my red hair, more than other colour safe shampoos I’ve used while having bright red hair.

If you need a lot of moisture from your hair products, this ain’t the shampoo for you. If you have fine hair you’ll likely like this. Maybe it’s just not for my hair type (medium 2b/2c hair). Probably won’t repurchase it, at least not while I’m sporting a vibrant hair colour.

I will say that I like the conditioner of this line more than the shampoo.

I love this shampoo. It’s a favorite and I’ve used it for years, even when I don’t color my hair. I also love the flexibility that the travel-size containers gave me in pre-Covid times. They’re great for using at the gym or on the road.

HOWEVER, I’m really frustrated with the packaging of this product and other Aveda products in the 1. 7-ounce reusable bottles. In this product and others in the same type of bottle, a horizontal crack eventually develops in the screw-on lid, parallel to where the top of the bottle meets the lid.

I first discovered the problem when the inside of my travel bag was coated with shampoo that had seeped from this bottle. Ick. After the first occurrence of the crack developing in the lid I repurchased the product.

I thought I had bad luck with one particular bottle. Turns out, though, that the same problem developed with multiple travel-size bottles I had purchased. I explained the problem at the Aveda salon where I purchased the products, and they said they weren’t able to give me replacement caps because they don’t stock inventory in that way.

I asked at another Aveda salon and heard the same explanation. It’s frustrating; I love Aveda shampoos and conditions. The Be Curly co-wash is another winner, but the cap on the 1. 7-ounce bottle developed a crack as well.

Ditto with Color Conserve’s travel-size conditioner. The refillable small bottles are versatile and perfect in many ways, but the design is flawed and I’m turning to other products.

Began using this after Aveda discontinued the Clove shampoo which I had used for decades alongside occasional use of other Aveda shampoos. I’d even used this before without problems but it seems they’ve changed the formula, or maybe when I was using it regularly it became worse but my head became very, very itchy and sore and my eyes began to swell up so it seems I’m allergic to the ingredients, something I never thought I’d say about an Aveda shampoo.

I see it has tocepherol in it, which I hadn’t expected or checked for as lots of people are allergic to this and Aveda are known for being not allergenic. I’m now thinking that I not only have to find another shampoo but another brand.

A great shame because I trusted Aveda all these years and was a loyal customer.

This is my new favourite shampoo. I have very fine hair that I regularly dye so I want a shampoo that will not weigh my hair down or lift the colour away. The product is very shiny and runny but lathers up very nicely and is not difficult to wash out.

(The actual scent is not my favourite but it is only very mild) I use this shampoo in conjunction with the Pureorology Hydrate Conditioner and my hair feels really soft and looks glossy. I love it.

Really used to be a Paul Mitchell girl, I haven’t used their products in 5ever but I was looking for a more high end shampoo/conditioner because I’m having trouble finding nice products that are giving me a good end result.

Used to do their tea tree/mint, but decided to try this one and the reviews were great! Got a sample pack and it was nice, but not enough product for my long hair, so I got the full sizes. Um nope. I got the combo pack and really do not like them.

The first hour or so my hair looks nice but it gets greasy/flaky now faster than ever, and I’ve almost NEVER had issues with flakes or greasy hair in my life. Not hating on the brand, but this particular product is not for me.

In my 30 years of life I’ve never hated a shampoo this much. I tried this shampoo at my friend’s house & loved it. So I went out & bought this and the Paul Mitchell volume conditioner. After a few washes my hair began to feel dull, dry & lifeless and then after about 2 weeks my hair felt disgusting and greasy! I’ve never had greasy hair before, I used to be able to go days without washing my hair & no grease.

I am so disappointed, Paul Mitchell used to be a good brand. Run, don’t walk, far far away from this product!!.

Almost two months in and im glad its almost gone. I bought it cause I have bleached blue hair and wanted it to last. It does that sure but it does not make my hair feel clean unless I wash my hair twice.

If I dont it doesnt feel like there’s anything in my hair and im just pushing around water. I have thick coarse hair and generally stuck to professional products but this one was a mistake. I use twice as much as I should just to feel clean.

Not buying again.

I always love ion products for coloring and toning my hair after bleaching, and this aftercare shampoo and conditioner line proved to be the same. almost. The shampoo I found worked very well to keep my color bright and non brassy, but it left my hair so dry, even with the conditioner after.

I started to mix some of the shampoo in with my Loreal Dream Lengths shampoo and it helped a lot. The conditioner is great for my hair all over, non greasy, conditions well, smells great. But because I’m working on healing my hair in certain areas I ended up using the Ion conditioner on my roots, top of my head to about midway down, where I would add the Loreal Dream Lengths conditioner, which as I state in my review of that Loreal conditioner, it leaves my roots and upper head hair greasy but perfectly midway down to my roots, so it’s actually a perfect mix for me.

I would use the Ion conditioner all over with not one issue, and sometimes do, but am still working to repair my ends. Overall great product line from Ion. My mom now uses it too and I will buy again.

Ion Color Defense Clarifying Shampoo is one of the better clarifying shampoos I have used. I purchased it at my local Sally Beauty recently during the 4 for $20 sale. It regularly retails for less that $10.

I like this shampoo because it removes product build up and effectively removes toning agents without leaving hair stopped or feeling dried out. I used it prior to a color process and had a noticeably better color take.

I can also attest to the fact this is color safe in a way most clarifying shampoos are not. I recently colored much of my blonde hair with a red semi-permanent color gloss that is supposed to last through ten washes.

I have now washed my hair three times with this clarifying shampoo and had little color budge. I highly recommend this for those with colored hair or looking for a gentle clarifying product that will not strip all the moisture from your hair.

I use Arctic fox hair color to keep my hair. A vibrant mixture of purple and red. Red is a notoriously difficult color to keep in your hair because of its molecular size compared to other colors. It doesn’t lock into the cuticle as quickly and this product helps with that.

I not only use it right after coloring my hair, I also use it beyond that. Rather than washing my hair every single day which would strip the color right out of it, I rinse my hair and then condition it with this product.

This allows me to keep my hair looking good until the roots grow in and I have to take care of that. Keeps my color from fading quickly.

I could not be more pleased with this product! I love my purple hair but not so much the fading and keeping it purple. Along came No Fade Fresh and my problems with my purple hair fading have vanished.

Bonus it is super nourishing and my hair is happier and healthier not to mention purple! Thank you No Fade Fresh, you have changed my life for the better. Seriously I have used it three times. My hair was almost back to blonde at the frayed ends and the color had come off in splotches this time.

Full disclosure: my most recent coloring was with a brand I had not tried before. It looked great for about five days then starting fading in peculiar ways. I decided to try this and in 3 uses my purple hair is a much more uniform color throughout, all the way down to the frayed ends, which do not look frayed after 3 uses.

AMAZING!!.

I’m a natural, level 9 or 10 blonde, so I thought I could use this without bleaching my hair. That said, it deposited where it felt like, and never came out! First color I tried was the pink conditioner.

Never came out, so I had to color my hair back to my natural color. I decided that maybe I did it wrong or something, and purchased the silver shampoo. I was sooo looking forward to this color! It was a bust.

Again, it deposited where it felt like, and never “faded out”. I tried contacting their color coach, and customer service to see how to remove it. It’s been 7 weeks now with partly silver dotted hair, and no response from company.

And yes, I followed directions to a tee. I’m going to try and remove it today with some Color Zap.

I received a bottle of the No Fade Fresh Lavender Color Depositing Conditioner in the mail in exchange for a review. I currently have a platinum blonde balayage and my hair ranges from super light to light blonde to brown at the root.

I’ve used this product 3 separate times and noticed the following: the first time, I didn’t see any effect on the color of my hair, at all. Not even the lightest parts picked it up. I left it on for a couple of minutes fearing my hair would turn full on purple, but it didn’t even come close.

It does condition and soften the hair regardless. The second time I used it I did notice more color picked up after leaving it on for around 10 minutes. It wasn’t a block of color, but I noticed a lot of brassiness had been taken away from the lightest parts of the hair.

The next section up/ darker light blonde didn’t seem to pick up a lot of this color. However, the overall sheen was definitely more blue than the pinky lavender shown on the bottle. This is fine for my needs but a heads up for those wanting the pink lavender.

The third time I used it I just noticed an increase in the blue sheen without it being actually blue, and the 2 lightest blonde didn’t pick up much of it either. The scent is nice and understated, not obnoxious or overwhelming.

I need to use a lot of product because I have a lot of thick, long, dry, chemically damaged hair and I do cowashing. I used this conditioner 3 times and by the third I had pretty much ran out of it. Not a problem for me but could be for someone else.

The application is nice, it does NOT stain your skin and tub/shower like other color depositing conditioners. Really stretches/goes a long way. Overall it’s a product I’ll keep using until it runs out and I might consider purchasing a second bottle.

I would recommend this to someone who’s looking to take brass away from lighter blonde hair while conditioning but not to someone who’s looking for a strong color payoff or to turn their platinum blonde hair into lavender.

It smelled great and lathered well. I also felt like my color was a touch brighter. However, after washing, I was half way through the drying process when my scalp and roots started feeling very waxy and greasy.

My roots were heavy looking and stuck together. It was not giving me fresh clean hair vibes at all. It took about two days for the greasy feel to semi-wear off. I’m sad I wasted a hair washing day on this shampoo.

I returned it immediately.

I love Joico’s Anti Fade Shampoo but stopped using it for a while when they put SLS back into the formula. Was so happy when they went back to an SLS free formula so had to buy it again. Hair is left soft, manageable and the new scent is divine.

Worth trying if you have coloured hair as I find my hair colour lasts longer between touch ups when using this shampoo as it does not cause colour to wash out so quickly.

I purchased both the shampoo and conditioner, but this review is for the shampoo- It has a mellow pomegranate smell. I noticed very little color bleed from my freshly dyed copper hair, it had a very silky soft lather that instantly softened and smoothed my hair.

It isn’t the most cleansing shampoo I’ve tried, but I definitely noticed my hair breakage has stopped.

I really like the results I get when I use the TRESemmé Color Revitalize Shampoo. It has a great lather that leaves my scalp and hair feeling clean. The shampoo is lightweight and washes out of my hair easily without any issues.

The shampoo makes my hair feel soft, smooth and silky. I loved the fresh clean scent that was also in the conditioner and lasted in my hair all day. I had less tangles in my hair and it was easier to brush through as well as manage and style.

My hair was much more moisturized after washing it without looking greasy. The conditioner paired with TRESemmé Color Revitalize Shampoo really repaired some of my dry, damaged and color treated hair making it look beautiful again.

I would definitely recommend trying TRESemmé Color Revitalize Shampoo.

I have aquamarine hair, and of course I wanted to keep it protected and last as long as possible between color touch ups. I bought this with its Conditioner partner. A good deal of the time I just used the shampoo alone and only A FINGERTIP’S worth of it on my whole head and probably rinsed it longer than I may have needed to.

After my shower my hair would feel so heavy and weighed down it felt like I glopped on the shampoo without even washing it and just got out. My hair appeared super greasy and it wasn’t from any other product since I seldomly use anything besides Shampoo, conditioner (on my ends only), and possibly dry shampoo between washes.

The dry shampoo NEVER made my hair feel heavy. Only whenever I used this stuff. I tried to rough through at least half the bottle and just mix baking soda in every time I used but I just couldn’t.

I have used these for many yrs not for color treatment ~ protect my natural gray hair since I have permanents done several times a yr have so for much of my life. Always cleans conditions beautifully.

Great shine! If it has a fragrance, it’s unnoticeable. My preference unscented ie allergies. Too many people tend to over-do on scents which is difficult for those of us with allergies. We noticed box was in very bad condition.

Appeared someone opened re-sealed. Neither bottles protected cap on shampoo opened leaked. They could have used bubble wrap bags and more since only 4 items in large box. Tbey were jostled about. Perhaps the one who saw wet underside removed all protective packing which was probably a mess.

All items had shampoo thankfully nothing damaged. Btw I also use their mousse.

I picked up this shampoo when I had just got my hair colored blonde. I was looking for an affordable shampoo, but quality, And I didn’t feel like spending $30 for the shampoo at my salon. In the past, I’ve used Nexxus before, And although I haven’t had the best luck, I wanted to try again because this particular shampoo Was an allure Beauty winner.

The first thing is I don’t care for the smell has a chemical smell. Shockingly it makes my hair incredibly soft. Also, I wait about a month Before I go and get my roots done, and this shampoo kept the color, kept my hair color looking vibrant, Shiny & soft.

Also, I don’t wash my hair every day. I probably wash my hair about three times a week, and I find that the shampoo helps get the grease out without using a clarifying shampoo which I prefer not to because a clarifying shampoo does strip the color.

So it’s nice that I have that shampoo as an option; not only does it help with the grease, it keeps my color vibrant, my hair is tangle-free also it doesn’t strip out the natural oils of my hair or the color overall I would recommend the shampoo the only thing I wish is that the smell was a little bit better, but I’m willing to continue to use it because there are more pros than cons.

I purchased this and my hair started coming out in CHUNKS. After research I learned that this shampoo is in a middle of a lawsuit (and many others) for putting in chemicals where people have been losing their hair.

For months I couldn’t figure out why I was losing hair and chalked it up to diet, or stress and it was not my hormones or stress at all. It was this shampoo the entire time and I will be throwing it away despite having used 3/4 of it.

Check the ingredients to your shampoos please! I do not understand why this is still on the shelves along with many other brands facing lawsuits for this. I’m afraid to even brush my hair because I lose so much hair it’s really taken a toll on my self esteem seeing so much of me precious hair come out.

I bought this shampoo and conditioner in a pinch because I needed a color safe shampoo and saw the 2 pack of this shampoo and the conditioner and so I bought it. BIG MISTAKE. I’m glad after reading other reviews on here that I am not alone because I honestly thought it was just me, my hair has never been more greasy, scalp has never been so itchy, and my color faded so quickly in only the short amount of time I was using this product.

I HATED wasting all that money but this is probably the worst “color safe shampoo” if you can even call it that. that I’ve ever bought. please don’t be like me, read reviews on shampoo’s before you buy it’ll save you time, energy, and your hair.

I have been using this shampoo for over 20 years. I have tried other shampoos for color treated hair in the past. some of which were expensive, exclusive brands (only available in salons at the time).

I try to limit unnecessary exposure to chemicals so I have also tried sulfate and paraben free shampoos but I always go back to Biolage Colorlast. I also use their Conditioning Balm. the Colorlast conditioner made it more difficult for me to detangle my long hair.

Part of the attraction to this shampoo is the scent. I am very sensitive to scented items (they give me a headache). So while I have tried some other shampoos that have yielded comparable results, the scent of Colorlast draws me back.

It is slightly fruity without being overbearing. After washing my hair with this shampoo, (before conditioning), my hair is minimally tangled. My hair length varies between my bra strap and waist. Some shampoos I have tried have left my hair a matted, tangled mess (think rat’s nest)and the amount of hair I would pull out in trying to work a conditioner through my hair was horrifying.

It is hard for me to judge if this shampoo extends my color or its vibrancy. My hair does not hold color well and there is nothing on the market that keeps me from going brassy when I have lighter blonde highlights (except periodic salon toner treatments).

However, I love the way my hair feels (the texture) after using this shampoo. It minimizes the frizz without leaving my hair looking heavy/flat. I don’t use a lot of styling products so I can’t say how well this shampoo performs if you have product buildup.

If I blow dry my hair, I do use some type of oil or de-frizzing treatment but when I let my hair dry naturally, my wavy hair looks so good! There are so many new shampoos that come onto the market now days and maybe there is something out there “better” but at this point, I figure , “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”.

So long story short. I have blonde highlights. I’ve never had issues with my highlights up until three years ago and I decided to do a “blonder” color and put more highlights in my hair. After I did that, my hair wrecked havoc.

I couldn’t shower without it becoming a huge clump in the back of my head. I was using pumps and pumps of conditioner just to get the tangles out. It was a mess. Eventually I settled on the Kenra Color Shampoo and Scruples conditioner (yes; I use a hair mask as an everyday conditioner) since at the time I felt like I got a really good suds with that product.

The past year I’ve noticed my hair becoming extremely dry and brittle. It was harder to manage so I decided to dry a bunch of Biolage products. This Colorlast Shampoo is amazing. It smells so good, leaves my hair so soft and it suds up perfectly in the shower! I actually think it helps my hair from falling out since I’m not having to brush as hard to get tangles out or use as much conditioner.

I can’t wait to try the other products in their line but for now it’s a keeper!.

full disclosure: i do not have colored hair (anymore). my hair is now virgin tho i bought this shampoo some time ago when i did color my hair and for some reason never used it back then. however, i do have naturally red hair that the right products make much more shiny and vivid looking even if technically the color is unchanged.

the wrong products make it dull and less vividly red. this shampoo, which i’ve been using regularly and am almost finished with my bottle, certainly makes my hair shiny and makes my natural color look rich and intense, so i imagine its great for colored hair too.

it lathers well, cleans well, adds bounce and volume in addition to great shine, and of course like all biolage products, smells amazing. however, it also feels really drying in the shower and that’s why i took off a star.

it gives that squeaky clean stripped feeling, which i don’t like, and makes my hair feel very rough and stiff (like a solid mass that i can’t really get my fingers through) until i use conditioner. it also makes my skin and hands feel very dry too which is almost more bothersome than just my hair alone feeling stripped.

yes, a lot of shampoos do this, but a lot of shampoos also *don’t* do this-i prefer ones in the latter category. once my hair is conditioned and dried though, it doesn’t seem dried out, so i kept using this shampoo hoping that stripped feeling was just that, a feeling, and only before conditioning, and that it wasn’t really drying out/stripping my hair long term.

for a while that seemed to be the case but then i tried switching conditioners (i don’t use the matching one btw i use the biolage advanced keratindose conditioner and tried switching to redken extreme conditioner for a change) and i noticed tons of split ends after my hair dried that time.

obviously that conditioner wasn’t moisturizing enough but a conditioner alone won’t cause split ends, especially not in just one use, and it made me realize that maybe this shampoo has been overly drying all along and my regular conditioner just happened to be good enough to mask the damage.

so. i’m not sure if i will repurchase this particular shampoo now, i will probably at least experiment with a few others first, though i think i will stick to biolage in general. i do have virgin hair but despite that my hair has always been on the coarse side and dries out really easily and is breakage prone especially near the ends.

it is also really long and wavy so that doesn’t help. all in all this shampoo is probably fine for finer, oilier, shorter and/or just generally more resilient hair, including colored hair, but for more difficult, drier, and breakage prone hair it seems a little bit harsh for regular use.

i can’t imagine it would be gentle enough for highly processed hair. but it *does* make my hair *look* really, really good, so i remain undecided. if i end up repurchasing it, i will update my review.

I’m a guy with dark, course, thick straight hair (to the point that it is difficult). The water is very hard in my area so I struggle finding shampoo that alone keeps hair from getting buildup/feeling waxy, without hair starting to look greasy quickly, especially when I’m trying to grow my hair to a longer length.

Sometimes I use clarifying shampoos (acidic to remove buildup) but I have a hard time telling if they aren’t working or if they are causing more damage/drying out my hair. I tried this Dove Clarify & Hydrate conditioner because I was looking for one that doesn’t have an overpowering fragrance, is not too expensive, and would hopefully address the buildup/waxy feeling.

I’m really happy with how this conditioner makes my hair feel. It took more conditioner than I expected but it immediately got rid of the Waxy/buildup feeling when my hair is wet. And I think my hair feels great after I let it air dry.

The conditioner doesn’t have a strong fragrance so it goes well with both earthy (like tea tree or peppermint) and floral scented shampoos (I like being able to switch shampoo depending on my mood, and I don’t like shampoos and soaps that are too strongly artificially scented) and gives you more options about what shampoo you can use with it.

And as a bonus, I think the infused charcoal powder really helps to keep my hair feeling cleaner and not greasy longer after taking a shower. Very happy with this product and plan to keep buying it.

I was first introduced to this Dove product as part of a free trial and I really loved it that I went out and purchased these bottles. I had only previously used Dove soap but this product reminds of the soap in many ways.

It is clean, fresh and crisp. As someone whose favorite smells are “fresh rain” and “clean laundry” this is such a clean shampoo. There are no gimmicks about crazy scents or false promises. The shampoo is rich and creamy in nature.

Everything about the product is fresh and you end up with silky smooth hair. Also, you do not need to use that much to give your whole hair this feeling. I have shoulder length hair and a small amount on my hand does the trick.

The bottle is also a good shape. Sometimes you receive shampoos and it does not consider the product still has to balance often on a ledge once it is half empty. I purchased this product as part of the Amazon pantry program so it was a total steal! You get a ton of shampoo in the bottle.

I also purchased the companion conditioner, which has all of the similar silky smooth characteristics.

I received this product from Topbox in exchange for a review. At first I didn’t really understand what this product was supposed to do because the name’s confusing. I don’t really think of weak/fragile hair when hearing hair fall.

In the end, the name doesn’t matter because this product works wonders. I had been recently using another brand of moisturizing shampoo that was actually irritating my scalp and somehow making my hair brittle.

When I switched to this Dove shampoo, my scalp was no longer itchy, I didn’t experience flaking, and my hair actually stayed cleaner for longer. I usually get oily after a day, but this shampoo manages to stretch it to two or three.

A small amount of this product goes a long way because the lather is very rich. At first I wasn’t so keen on the scent as it’s rather strong. But I’ve become used to it and find that it doesn’t linger.

Overall, super happy with this product. It’s been great for my winter hair woes and would consider buying again.

I like this shampoo and it’s conditioner. Guys I will be completely honest with y’all I absolutely love my hair but at the same time I absolutely hate to some time too, the reason why I love but hate my hair is simple when I try to get it permed it will not work in stead of taking the perm it decides to fry so it looks horrible and when I try to get my hair dyed a different color it looks great for about a 2 weeks or month however after that not so much.

Y’all know how your hair color fades for your natural hair color starts showing up with your roots of a few months go by and I thought y’all might; with my hair those things start happening within a few weeks because everytime I wash my hair the dye washes out of my hair.

So I asked one of the young ladies who is my beauticians what can I do to help stop the dye from washing out. She told me to go buy this kind of shampoo and conditioner since it is made to colored hair it should help solve my problem well it didn’t help with that but I fell in love with how it smells and it makes my hair look shiney and feels sliky.

So even though I still can’t keep my hair dyed for very long I will always use this stuff for the simple fact I keeps my hair healthy.

These are formulated with sulfates so even though it is deemed Color Safe, sulfates are known to strip color from hair faster than products without sulfates, due to their powerful cleansing nature. Despite that, I really love this duo! It’s so convenient being able to use the shampoo as a multi-use product for body wash, especially sinct the floral aroma is absolutely heavenly.

When using as shampoo, it lathers up well and my hair is left feeling clean, nourished, and looking vibrant and glossy. I really enjoy the consistency of the shampoo, and the fact that I only have to use a small amount to get a good lather.

The conditioner is really nice as well, not too heavy on my hair like a lot of conditioners are. It obviously has the same beautiful scent, and it rinses out easily without leaving any unpleasant residue.

After using, my hair feels soft, silky, and always looks so shiny and healthy! Overall I am very happy with this duo! My only complaint is I wish there werent any sulfates in these products, because that would have just amped up the color protection.

If you do have color treated hair and are a fan of floral-rose scents, these would easily work well for you.

I started a cowash regimen (using cleaning conditioner instead of shampoo) several years ago, so it’s been quite a while since I last used traditional haircare products. That’s why I was both excited and a little trepidatious when I had the chance to try Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Shampoo.

Turns out, a lot has changed! The first thing I noticed when I opened the Color Me Happy Shampoo was the fabulous floral scent. Delightful! It wasn’t terribly strong, and while I would have loved a stronger scent, personally, I know some people have chemical sensitivities, and strong fragrances can be very aggravating.

It lathered pretty much like any shampoo, the scent made it nice to use, and it rinsed out easily, leaving my hair feeling clean and ready for conditioning. Pretty much exactly what you’d want from a shampoo, in terms of performance.

But I noticed some really exciting things when I read the label. First, there are no parabens! One of the reasons I quit using traditional shampoos was to avoid sulfates and parabens, which my stylist told me had been damaging my hair.

It is also PETA-certified cruelty-free, which is super important to me, and made as sustainably as possible at a “zero manufacturing waste to landfill site. ” The bottle is also 100% recyclable (except for the cap, which I do wish they’d make more clear)! Perhaps the most interesting thing I learned from reading the label, though, was that there are raised lines at the bottom of the bottle, just beneath the label.

These are for consumers who have vision difficulties! The lines, or stripes, are for “shampoo”, and the conditioner has raised dots, or circles for “conditioner”. I never would have noticed, but wow, I can totally appreciate what a difference that must make to somebody who has trouble seeing, especially in the low light of the shower! I looked it up and discovered that Herbal Essences began making their shampoos and conditioners more accessible a couple of years ago.

I think that’s amazing! Overall, I liked using Herbal Essences Color Me Happy shampoo. It was gentle and smelled great, and left my hair nice and clean and smelling like a bouquet, but the sustainability, cruelty-free, and accessibility features made me an even bigger fan.

I definitely recommend it, especially if you color your hair and shop your conscience!.

I read the reviews and took the leap. Elated I did. This product is phenomenal. Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I didn’t use it for the purpose of pre- coloring my hair. I used it because I was recovering from surgery and I wasn’t able to wash my hair a regularly as I did.

I developed build up in my hair. I remembered my hairdresser recommending using a clarifying shampoo at one time to my daughter who had build up because her hair is so thick and she uses product in her hair.

Anyways I decided to buy and use this product and I have to say I absolutely love it. I use it in combination with my regular conditioner and it’s phenomenal.

I dye my hair and am always looking for products that will help the color last, or make it look better. This shampoo kind of did that – the ends looked really glossy and it seemed to add depth (or radiance, I guess).

But it didn’t seem to clean my hair very well. As soon as my hair dried, it looked greasy at the roots and was too limp to style. And every time I washed my hair with it, it seemed to get worse. I also noticed a lot more shedding than usual, probably due to the build up it left on my hair.

Nothing else in my routine changed, so i’m positive it was this product. I switched back to my normal shampoo and my hairs oil production (and shedding) has gone back to normal. On the bright side, it didn’t irritate my sensitive scalp.

And it did make the ends of my hair look nice. But I wouldn’t recommend it for daily use , ecspecially if you have fine hair.

I am someone who does research on things before purchasing and weighing the risks. I went to walmart in search of a shampoo and conditioner that would help keep my freshly dyed red hair from fading. I waited 3 days to do first wash and do every other day now.

On my first trip to WM i didnt find a shampoo or conditioner specifically for redheads so i bought the L’Oreal EverPure SULFATE FREE Color Care System rosemary juniper. After using these i spray my hair with heat protectant and comb it.

I flip my head and blowdry it. When i flip my head back and brush my hair is smooth, frizz free, and straight as a board. The color has been great for the entire week and a half i have had it. I was extremely impressed! Well i decided to go to walmart yesterday and i came across the John Frieda radiant red shampoo conditioner set.

I decided to try it in hopes of keeping my color bright since it is specifically for reds. After showering I did the exact same routine as with the other shampoo and conditioner. Immediately after brushing once it was dried, i noticed the frizz, color, and coarseness of my hair! My hair is now brown with a red tint which makes me mad because my hair was a deep dark red.

My hair has frizz from root to tip and it is rough and coarse like horse hair. I also noticed while i was washing my hair this strong smell like burnt hair. That smell was not present before. I dont curl or flat iron my hair.

Very disappointing! I noticed that the john frieda is NOT sulfate free. so i dont know if this is the problem or what. But my color is almost completely gone and it is rough and frizzy after only one use!!!.

High expectations on this product. Recently had professionally dyed my extra long locks red and was looking for a good color preserving shampoo! Purchased this at Ulta on a great buy one get one 1/2 off sale.

Pros of this shampoo: Smell, lathers wonderfully, softened hair. Cons: very little dye preservation. My hair bled more than usual; unsure if product, water, or dye itself. I waited 2 days before washing my hair after dying and used cold water and used this with the matching conditioner.

I’m skeptical on if this is really good for dyed hair. ***My boyfriend, a natural redhead, did like the effects on his long red hair. *** Final conclusion: As for me, I will not purchase again when I re-dye my hair.

I believe there are better dye-preservation products. I still love John Frieda products but this line just didn’t turn out well for me personally.

I was in search of a product to help reduce tangle and hair breakage/fall out after having a little more blonde added than normal. I have fine, naturally curly hair. This shampoo/conditioner combo did it for me! After washing and applying the conditioner, it does still feel stringy- but upon rinsing it’s so smooth and detangles easily, which is exactly what I was hoping it would do! It doesn’t weigh my hair down, either.

I loved AG products, and I strayed due to cost- never again. It’s worth every penny, and a little goes a LONG way.

I used to use DevaCurl no-poo for my fine/thin wavy hair. I got a trial size of this and liked it well enough. I decided to give the full size of this a chance when it was on sale during one of Ulta’s hair events as the DevaCurl was just too expensive on a grad student budget.

I’ve been using it for over a year now and I SWEAR my hair is fuller and my curls behave better than they did with the DevaCurl. I wash my hair 1-2x/week and I do a sort of double cleanse. I put one pump in, lather at the scalp, quick rinse, then another pump, lather at the scalp, and let it run down the rest of my hair when I rinse.

Leaves my scalp feeling clean and not dry.

I don’t know where to begin. I dye my hair party colors. I just went from magenta to lavender. One could suggest my hair health was compromised, but it felt good for the first few days. Then I tried this.

Great reviews, so I thought I was all set. I couldn’t figure out why my hair felt sticky. I thought maybe it was product buildup up, so I washed extra well. I saw my lavender fading, mostly in my bangs.

Ironically, that’s where the most virgin hair is, but it’s more fine in most women. I noticed my hair was super tangly in the front and the bangs were so dry. (The ends of the rest were dry, but it wasn’t as noticeable since it’s longer.

) I wanted to cry. I decided to switch shampoos and after one wash it feels slightly better. Now I’m going to have to deep condition and hope I can revive it. I hope I can. (Incidentally, the shampoo I got is cheaper-Redken-it’s what I used with my magenta hair.

My hair didn’t stay as clean, but I don’t care at this point. (When you get party colors, you wash it as little as possible!) Even Hask works better. Be forewarned!.

I absolutely love kandy Johnson. Just want to state that emphatically and this review has nothing to do with her. Having said that, I discovered a few months ago that there is currently a class action law suit on going in the US Canada against OGX , and this particular line (kandy’s 2nd collab with them), is included in the law suit.

The suit can be found on line, so if you have used this and had any problems search the class action suit. I felt that my hair wasn’t responding very well to these products I had the shampoo/conditioner and the dry shampoo.

I just decieved to do some quick searches to see if anyone one else was having issues and was shocked to learn there is a fairly large on going /active suite against OGX, many of the lines are included.

I found my hair seemed to be falling out more and in general the products just were not working at all like the 1st collab kandy did with them. So, this is I think maybe my 2nd 1 star review ever. but I have to be honest otherwise what is the point of taking the time to leave the reviews.

Hope this gets settled and OGX addresses whatever the problems are in some of the products and makes the changes necessary.

This stuff smells amazing, and that is the main reason why I keep buying it. My boyfriend always compliments me, and says it smells great. I haven’t found anything comparable. it smells sweet, like cotton Candy maybe, but not sickeningly sweet.

Anyhow, the reason I’m knocking off a star, is because the conditioner itself is just mediocre. It doesn’t leave my hair super soft, or silky, or manageable. So, I’m mainly just using it for the scent.

I have been struggling the past two years with my hair. My scalp has been dry and flakey and just generally itchy and my hair has been ranging from frizzy to greasy in about 2 minutes flat. I tried everything, drug store, high end, scalp treatments, EVERYTHING.

Enter this shampoo. I came at the litter sale having very little clue on what I wanted. I orginally wanted biolage but my BB was out so I asked the lady who led me to this product. I got both the shampoo and conditoner.

My hair has never felt better. It feels and stays clean for days, my scalp isn’t killing me, my hair isn’t frizzy. Its the best. I am very much a wash and go kind of gal and this does that while making my hair look and feel great.

This was the last one I used. I was very happy with the results. My hair became more healthy and smooth. If you are using a lot of hair tools I recommend to use this shampoo so you don’t damage it too much.
