20 Best Glass Chair Mats (2022 Updated)

I bought this about a month ago after getting a new carpet in my home office and trying cheaper options – plus I was nervous about the glass breaking. It’s a super thick carpet that my chair was eating up 1 and 2 I couldn’t move.

I bought a plastic mat and found the spikes on the bottom of it were eating my carpet so I bought a smaller carpet to put under the plastic. didn’t work and I wasted a bunch of money. I didn’t know this glass mat existed, and although it’s more than the $30 mat; you get what you pay for! I am thrilled and I just bought another for my 7 year old daughters desk who is directly behind me.

It’s had toys, boxes, computers, children all fall on it and it’s still perfect. Highly recommend – changed my life!.

Like clockwork my home office chair mat started cracking after 2 1/2 years of use. I was looking for a more durable option and ran across a variety of tempered glass chair mats. Ultimately, I decided on the Office Depot’s Lorell offering – had the exact size I was looking for, specs seemed consistent w/more expensive brands, delivery within a day, & sale price was wonderful! I just installed it this past Saturday and have been enjoying it since.

I installed a set of roller blade soft wheel casters on my desk chair which has really enhanced my new Lorell chair mat experience – it glides like a dream! Thanks Office Depot for a quality product and yet another superb online & delivery experience!.

I loved my glass chair mat. Used it for 2 years without any issues. Left my home office on a Friday and all was great but Monday morning, I found it completely shattered all over my carpet for no reason.

Nothing fell on it and the temp in the room was a constant 74 degrees. I am puzzled what caused my favorite mat to shatter and I am debating if I should buy another one. Cleaning glass from carpet is not something I recommend.

If I was to purchase another one, I will place a light throw rug under it so if it shatters, I can just through out everything on the throw rug. I had to give it 5 stars because it was awesome but highly disappointed that I no longer have it.

This certainly beats those poly/plastic chair mats. I had two under my desk and they just kept bunching up all the time and it was just pretty sloppy for my otherwise pristine organized space. So I saw this and thought I’d give it a shot.

It is EXACTLY what is needed. I have it on low-pile carpet and it doesn’t move. Shipment was good, no cracks, breaks, protected. Just unbox and lay it in place and you’re done. Holds weight, smooth, office looks much better under the desk without those old plastic ones.

Wow! I have no regrets other than having waited for so long to get one! I’ll definitely take the advice of other reviews as far as being extra careful not to drop anything heavy on the chair mat.

Had heard of glass office mats and seen them advertised. I was a little skeptical and pulled the trigger as the cost wasn’t that much more than the cheaper ones I’ve gone through every 8 – 10 years. This is wonderful! It looks good, in perfect shape – well packaged.

The best benefit is how my chair rolls. I have thick carpet in my home office and this thing is perfect. My chair glides on it without any dips or hesitation.

I use this mat to protect the hardwood floors at my kitchen desk. It is exactly what I expected. Bonus is that it arrived packaged in a flat box, so there were no issues with the edges “curling”.

I was in the market for a chair mat to replace the cheap plastic kind I’ve been using for years. I’ve always hated the fact that those start to crack after a year or so and become totally unusable some time after that.

I would always maximize their life by duct taping the cracks but that has, over the years, left tape residue in my carpet. I was unaware that there was such a thing as a glass chair mat but the concept intrigued me so I pulled the trigger on this one.

I’ve had it for about a week and it’s fantastic. My office chair rolls on and off of it easily and it also rolls around nearly effortlessly. One big advantage is that, unlike plastic mats, divots don’t develop after you’ve been sitting for a while.

Those made fine adjustments to position impossible because if you moved your chair an inch or two, it would just fall back into the divots. It’s also nice and cool on my bare feet! It really seems to be something that will last a lifetime if properly taken care of and by that I mean, don’t drop heavy stuff on it and you should be fine.

My only complaint is that since it’s crystal clear, I can now see the aforementioned duct tape residue on the carpet beneath it :).

This is a thick glass mat with rubber pads underneath. This makes a very large lip when you wheel goes over the edge which surprised me how often that happens. The other thing is if the mat gets wet like snow on it, it is extremely slippery.

The glass shows dirt very easily. The only really good thing is that it is extremely smooth and the chair glides over it easily.

My office chair is particularly heavy. It’s a really great chair, but being on carpet was problematic. The weight of the chair and then the added weight of a person caused the carpet to give in, distorting the old plastic mat I had – and making it very challenging to wheel around in.

I have to say Vitrazza really hit the mark with the included stabil-a-dots for carpet. My carpeting has a substantial padding but these dots keep the glass chair mat firmly in place – no shifting. They adhere really well to the bottom glass surface.

This is my second Vitrazza chair mat. I won’t use any others because the quality is their product here is unparalleled. I’ve been so impressed with it and everyone who sees my home office remarks about how nice the mat looks.

If you’re hesitating – don’t – this is a purchase I’ll never regret. I use it every day and continue to be amazed with how well it holds up. And it’s made in the USA. How many products can we really say that about these days? That’s awesome.

After several years of waiting for my old floormat to “die” and listening to Vitrazza’s radio ads, I finally “bit the bullet” and went online and ordered a new mat from Vitrazza. The ordering was easy, and my extra request was easily accommodated at no extra charge.

The mat arrived as promised and was easy to “install” with their very excellent directions. It was beautiful and my only regret was that I didn’t do it years ago. After enjoying it for a few days I decided to also buy the special wheels for my chair — to avoid the sound of the chair’s old wheels on the new glass mat.

I loved the new wheels and so did my wife — our bedroom was below the “office” where I worked and the new wheels avoided her hearing me “roll around” on the mat when I worked early in the morning while she still slept.

GREAT GREAT GREAT — in every way! Don’t wait to make the change; I wish I had done it earlier.

Packing was superb. Arrived with no dings at all. It is very hard material with no give. My plastic mat sagged a little when I sat in the chair, making every movement of the chair harder, because you have to go ‘uphill’.

This mat made me realize that sagging is one of those “good news-bad news” situations. The glass chair mat makes it VERY easy to move the chair. Bad news: Just the slightest pressure on your foot makes the chair roll.

After 2 weeks I am used to the unwanted rolling and I guess I figured out how to control it subconsciously. Bad news no longer. One more bad news item: This mat is much thicker than the plastic one and I will likely trip on it a few times.

But that is so minor compared to how happy I am with the Vitrazza mat.

First off, I love the clean, modern look of the clear glass chair mat. I’ve been working from home since the beginning of the pandemic and have tried to make do with furniture around my home for a make-shift workspace.

I did buy a suitable office chair and, with the addition of this mat, makes me feel like my workspace was graduating to the next level! The glass mat is obviously sturdier and provides excellent support for the chair and your weight.

Because it’s unyielding, it ‘pushes back’ on the chair so the chair feels sturdier overall. I was slightly worried that I might roll off of the edge, but it’s large enough to prevent that and small enough that it would fit under my desk if I it needed to.

And the chair definitely rolls on it far more easily compared to on a plastic mat. Hands down better than a plastic mat! I’d definitely recommend buying it for a soft carpet situation.

I am extremely satisfied with the Quartet Glass Chair Mat. I have been working from home for over a year. I had no choice but to convert a carpeted bedroom into my home office. The rolling casters on my office chair was not a good fit for the carpet.

I didn’t want to go with a plastic chair mat. I have used them in the past and after a while it began to crack. It had those plastic grips that would make repositioning the mat a nightmare. I was skeptical at first since it is made of glass.

Hesitation was quickly dispelled for me. I am comfortable and happy with this addition to my home office.

Tempered glass material is way superior to the plastic/vinyl chairmats that WILL develop ruts and cracks no matter how thick they advertise to be. I paid a little more than I wanted to for a chairmat but this was on sale and I couldn’t pass it up.

Free shipping as well, plus it was delivered the next day. Sturdy packaging to avoid damage. Very smooth so rolling on casters is easy. The clear glass allows the carpet colors to show. It is quite heavy so handle with care, or use 2 people, as the product guide suggests.

Even though there is a lot of weight, it will still walk slightly over a short-pile carpet. Consider using the adhesive pads enclosed. I anticipate life-long service out of this chairmat. All-in-all, this is a great product and I am very pleased with my purchase.

I have been putting off buying a new chair mat to replace the delapidated one I currently have. I have researched a tempered glass mat and saw an ad from Office Depot at a sale price for the exact size I needed.

Called the Plano Office Depot on Central Expwy to see if they had any in stock. They had one and I rushed over to purchase it. I was pleased with the Office Depot employee who carried it out to my truck.

It’s installed and can now easily glide my chair into position. Excellent customer service.

Love the look; love the smooth surface; love the clear colored mats. I bought 2 for my office. My assistant loves that the office chair glides effortlessly on this glass chair mat. These mats totally upgrade our office space.

Now for the minor negatives: the tabbed area on one of our mats did not fit in her work space. I realized that the tab width was not specified in the measurements. We were able to get someone to move 2 drawer cabinets that hold up her desktop to accommodate the tabbed glass mat.

It would have been easier for us to ready the office for our shipment if we knew in advance what that one measurement was. My desk area fit perfectly with one of the standard rectangle mats. Secondly, the packing of these glass mats is excellent for shipping but a major hassle to unpack.

The tabbed chair mat was boxed as shown in the unpacking video but the standard rectangle mat was next to impossible to open, unpack and remove because it had no center seam to cut open. The packaging was like cutting through concrete with a razor! We persisted and made it happen.

In the end it was all worth it-our office looks fabulous and the carpet has been saved from those plastic chair mats! Another tip: add another row of the under mat chair cushion tabs for when the chair rolls farther out on the mat.

Chairs glide effortlessly on the glass and overshoot the box square guide. Enough tabs are included to do this for each mat. I recommend Vitrazza wholeheartedly to every office. Totally worth the price! Thank you 😁.

I haven’t had it that long, but so far I’m very happy with everything but the cost. Glad I got something domestically made. It is night and day improvement over the plastic versions for my needs. I can silently move my chair much easier without the dents.

Living in Indiana, I was a little concerned about it being cold on my bare feet or slippery with socks on, but so far that has been a major problem. I haven’t put the clear positioning bumpers on yet for my carpeted application, but suspect that I might soon.

Glad I got the tabbed version. It fits my space well. Packaging was good with no damage and arrived sooner than expected.

I love the chair mat. The castors on my office chair roll smoothly and freely over the mat. Within a couple days after using the chair mat, however, I experienced a problem. My chair inadvertently rolled off the edge of the mat and, because of the increased thickness/“height” of the mat (compared to the old plastic mat I had been using), the plastic castor broke.

I have now incurred the cost (greater than $100) to buy a new set of castors from you folks. I hope I don’t experience this problem again the next time a castor on my chair inadvertently rolls off of the edge of the mat.

I can’t afford to be continually replacing broken castors.

This glass chair mat gets the job done if you’re only interested in sitting at your desk. My chair rolls across the mat with ease, which is nice considering we have a thick rug in the office that the chair’s castors get stuck on.

The only big issue with this glass mat is that it can be an issue for people with automatic standing desks because standing on the glass mat for extended periods of time can be hard on your knees and back.

The other issue is that the mat should be 48″ x 48″ to allow for moving the chair more under the desk or away from the desk without the castors falling off the mat. (You should be able to see what I mean in the attached photo.

I was surprised at how heavy the Quartet Glass mat was. I now understand why as it has not budged once since installing. The Quartet glass has allowed my office chair to move more freely. My wood floor was taking a beating since I started working from home.

I like that the Quartet glass is now protecting my floor and allowing my chair to move easily. The Quartet glass mat is holding up great, it has not scratched and its easy to clean and it looks great in my office space.

Used on quality wool blend carpet with high pile. Works beautifully – no deformation of the plastic sheet providing a very firm surface for the chair castors. Transparent material so doesn’t detract from the carpet – look like it will last well (used it continually for over a month now.

). Proves the point that there’s no point in buying cheaper ‘wanna be’ products.

Replacing an earlier mat that started to fragment at the nodules that grip the carpet. What I can not tell you is whether that earlier mat, also bought from Staples, was polycarbonate – I hope not, as if it was, the lifetime of these mats is only 3-4 years, which makes them very expensive.

Anyway looks good at the moment, and covers the whole area in front of an L-shaped desk, which is why I needed this large size.

Excellent product, does not slip and is a sensible size. You can move around on the chair without that annoying situation happening where the chair wheels go over the edge of the mat.

Here we go, I’ve been dying to review this thing ever since I brought it inside. I’ve had this for about a month-ish or so now. For starters I use the “Alera Alera Merix Series Mesh Big/Tall Mid-Back Swivel/Tilt Chair, Black” that walmart currently sells on their website.

It’s a pretty heavy/sturdy chair- I couldn’t possibly guess how much it weighs without hurting myself so let’s just say it’s pretty heavy. I weigh 240ish. The weight together is a bit much. The carpet that I have is medium and worn but it’s a pretty cozy fit from what I can see.

Onwards to why all of this is relevant! Dips, my friend. When I sit in my giant chair for more than five minutes wheel-sized craters form in this mat making it absolutely frustrating to roll a few inches to turn to leave my chair and walk away.

This is so frustrating that if given the chance I absolutely would not buy this again, I’d look somewhere else in a heartbeat. You can bet I’ll use the thing until it cracks because I’ll get my money’s worth and learn my lesson at the same time.

So far there are no cracks– if that fact changes I’ll try to remember to update this.

My primary reason for ordering this – besides great value – is because it’s shipped FLAT in a shipping box so you can use it immediately! Most other brands are rolled up tightly and packaged, which take a long time to actually flatten out enough to use with an office chair.

And it arrived in 2 days!! Looks great, works great, and does not slip on my low shag-type carpet. I love it!.

I bought this on 2/10/22, rec’d it sometime after that. It is no 3/26/22 and it has already been cracking up & breaking for the past 2 weeks. A $179 mat should last much longer than a month. I am hoping that Office Depot will do the right thing and send me another that will last the test of time.

I bought this chair mat with a lifetime warranty in October 2021. It is three times the price of other chairmats of similar size (largest one they had). Nevertheless the mat has now cracked. I am on hold with Sam’s Club support to report this and get them to ship me a replacement mat under the lifetime warranty.

This is resting on carpet. We will see if Sam’s will stand behind this product. If they do not, then I’ll wind up having to try a Vitrazza glass chair mat, which I would be reluctant to do because I don’t believe their lifetime warranty either.

Plus glass is even heavier and harder to wrestle into position underneath the table leg, and backed up to the wall. Takes two people to get chair mats in place in this workstation location.

Pricey but very good quality. Shipped very fast. Was expecting item to arrive flat but came in a 12″x12″x4′ box which was surprising. Be extremely careful when unpacking and cutting the plastic wrap holding the mat in a coil.

The mat explodes uncoiling to a flat position immediately and with the gripper points on the bottom can cause some serious injury. I found out the hard way. More warning labels should be placed on the packaging, mine was facing inside and could not be read until after the fact.

That being my only issue I am very happy with quality, shipping and would purchase again if needed.

Like others have noted, the mat moves around, a lot. It creeps 3-4″ every couple days of use, requiring it to be pushed forward again. Very annoying. Our carpet is ~1/2″ pile, but I thought based on title / rating for this chair mat it would be good (also the deepest pile rating available).

The nubs on the bottom are tiny, much smaller than the previous Staples mat I had for the same pile thickness. That other mat did not move, ever. Regarding the material itself, the polycarbonate is pretty amazing in comparison to the vinyl mat it replaced.

It is half the thickness of the vinyl mat, but has very little flex, and the chair rolls much more easily. For the cost, I’m disappointed. Oh, and buyer beware, mats are considered furniture per Staples return policy, 14 day window (in hindsight this makes sense).

This mat is nice and large; my primary reason for choosing it. I also expected that being relatively pricey it would be of good quality. I have it on a relatively low pile carpet as specified, but my 5 spoke, double wheeled chair creates low spots that the chair then wants to roll into (and stay in).

If I could easily return it I would, but I expect that the cost to ship it back would be half the cost of the mat. Very disappointed!.

There are so many choices in this product category that it’s hard to decide. We replaced a 10-year old mat that had developed cracks, deploying the new one on medium-pile carpet underneath a heavy person’s rolling office chair, and we are very satisfied with the purchase.

After a few months it is holding up well and we hope for several years of use. There are slight depressions in the mat from the chair rollers, but they flatten out after moving the chair to another spot.

Oh my goodness! This chair mat is going to be a total game changer for my sewing room! My sewing chair scoots across the surface like a skater on ice—and with me in it! I can’t wait to get it fully in place! This mat is saving me tearing out my old carpet and replacing it with a solid surface, my next best idea to save my knees! I didn’t know that there was a mat large enough to let my sewing chair move effortlessly from one task center to another! It is holding up well.

After over 23 years my previous chair mat started to crack. When trying to replace the mat I almost purchased a cheaper plastic mat but after reading reviews, I decided to purchase this polycarbonate mat.

No regrets as the mat is solid, does not move on my carpet, my chair glides easily and leaves no indentations on the mat. Very happy with my purchase.

I’ve had this about two weeks. As a whole it is fine. It’s thick enough that the wheels do no sink in. The problem is we have to keep readjusting it because it moves. The carpet is medium pile, however it doesn’t stay in place well.

I Would still recommend it. Good quality product.

I purchased this mat as a replacement for the one in my office. I reviewed as all of them. I made sure to order one that was for low carpet. The size and shape was right and thinking the price must mean it’s better than the rest so I purchased it.

I HATE THIS MAT! Even thought I had a $30 coupon it isn’t worth HALF of what I paid for it. If one of the wheels rolls off the edge the mat curls up and stops the wheel from rolling back onto the mat.

so you have to get up and lift the chair to get it back on the mat. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Look for something else a bit thicker and with a tapered edge. If I could have given it ZERO stars I would have!.
