20 Best Gloves For Photographers (2022 Updated)

Gloves are nice and fit my hands well, a little snug at first. The touch screen index fingertips worked with my phone. The biggest disappointment was the color. I ordered dark purple to match some clothing accessories I already had in similar shades.

In the photo, I see a dark gray-purple. What I got were navy gloves so dark, they look black. I don’t see any “purple” in the gloves I got. Maybe in the bright light the navy blue looks a little warm, but that’s about it.

I wish I had read a previous review that had mentioned this specific color issue. But I’m keeping them since they fit and work with touchscreen. They are nice basic “black” gloves.

The gloves are much softer than they appear. I was surprised to see how flexible the exterior fabric was because I assumed they’d be a really thick fleece since they are made from recycled materials.

The color match is on point. The fit around the wrist is snug enough that not much air can sneak through, and the martial is thick without constricting movement. I purchased a small because I have little hands, thin fingers, and short manicured nails.

I don’t think they would fit comfortably on hands with longs nails. The only knock I have is the SmarTouch finger material isn’t that responsive and not suited for precise touch on phones like text messaging.

I predict a few autocorrect mishaps in my future. Overall, great gloves that will last multiple cold seasons and are designed perfectly to keep hands warm and dry.

Soft, nice interior, but inside and outside are made of different layers that slide past each other a lot, feels a little like wearing a glove in a glove. the outer layer could also be a little tighter, it feels a bit too loose, and the fingers have a bit of extra material at my fingertips.

It could be be better if it stretched over my hands and compressed back down so I have a skin tight fit that gives me good grip and finger dexterity. Overall better than almost every glove I’ve had that tries to balance warmth with finger agility, and while not the warmest, they work better than anything else I’ve tried for a non-bulky glove that gives me almost full use of my fingers.

I’d buy again.

Got cold hands? Well, do something about it. Refrigiwear has sold me several styles of gloves and mittens that keep my hands warm, warmer, warmest! Cold Montana winters with the possibility of bone chilling wind chill factors sort out people into two categories.

Category 1: those with cold hands, frostbite, and hypothermia. Category 2: those with warm functional hands, dexterity, safe, and comfortable. I call it insurance. Even if I never have to file a claim, I pay for insurance with the hope that I’m never in a position to need it, but know it’s there just in case.

I don’t generally wear mittens because I’m usually using my fingers. However. Gloves may not provide the same level of warmth at mittens if you are ice fishing, stranded and waiting for the tow truck, or just out on a hike.

Slip a chemical hand warmer into the mitten and when you arrive home, hopefully you will still have all your fingers. No guarantee what could happen, but I put mittens and balaclavas into this year’s rendition of my cold weather/emergency gear bag.

I bought these gloves because my fingers get cold when i am snow blowing. I have the jacket and coveralls. they keep me warm in all temperatures. Used mittens on a 20 degree day and they were just as cold as they are with any of the other gloves that i have.

Talked to your customer service and they said i should get the polar mittens. looked them up on your web site and the temperature range isn’t much better. Will keep them and try again next winter. Before wearing the mittens i made sure my hands were warm.

I’ve worked concrete foundations for three years now and every winter I struggled with keeping my hands warm while still being able to hold nails and swing a hammer. Not anymore! Even without the #sweepstakes incentive, I would be leaving these gloves a five star review.

Incredibly warm, to the point where I would have to take them off periodically, making my hands steam! And you’re still incredibly dexterous with them on, the extra finger allows you to do so much more than your traditional mitten, while keeping you warmer than your traditional five finger glove.

I’ve bought two pairs so far, and the only reason is so I could have a work pair and a pair for home. They’re that good! I will and have recommended this product to everyone who works outside in the winter, and if you’re wondering if these will work for you, I can almost guarantee you’ll be satisfied with them.

These items are the perfect thing to extend your riding season once the weather gets colder. I have been riding in 30 degree weather and I feel great. Like I am still in the house comfortable as far as comfort and heat goes.

The gloves never even feel the cold wind and the heated jacket man that thing is nice. Don’t even feel wind or cold through it that combined with my full face helmet I have it perfect. If you ride in winter only other thing I could think about getting would be some leather chaps which I mite be buying in next couple days for the wind on my legs other than that these items are a dream come true for winter weather driving.

This company keeps annoying me to review these cloves so here it is. but they are not going to like it! Big mistake buying these on line from them. I’m thin and 5’9” tall and weigh in at a whopping 165 pounds.

I literally have no body fat, and I’m 76 years old, so I have some history purchasing clothing, and on top of that I purchased a set of gloves one full size larger than I wear because of previous reviews, so I would not have to bother with returning items.

Now imagine a feeble old man of my size not fitting into a XL leather glove. I’m not tall, fat, or big in any area, just a normal lightweight person, and I’m not trying to get my entire body into a glove, just one hand! Judging by the XL glove they sent, I would need to have purchase a 3 or 4XL, maybe bigger to actually have them fit comfortably.

seriously? Are these children’s gloves? Ok, now let’s talk about warmth, the reason I purchased these. So this last weekend I wore these for the first time on an early morning ride with friends, Temperature here in So.

California was in the mid 50’s, not really cold, but a little chilly. Fifteen miles into the ride and my fingers were very getting really cold! So much for warmth, or perhaps the gloves were cutting off circulation.

I should never have purchased these without trying them on, or tried them on instantly then returned them and looked elsewhere, but I didn’t. so it’s my bad, but now I’m stuck with a pair of $28 dollar Extra Large gloves that fit no one in this house, not even the 165 pound man who bought them.

I originally bought a pair of full on “Motorcycle Gloves” you know with all the protection and knuckle molds etc. After wearing them one day I just felt they were too bulky and almost interfering with my grip and ride.

I have to admit to a little bit of admiring Jax Teller’s gloves on S. O. A. and I figured that’s all I wanted. Basic just leather gloves. So found them here. So here’s the real review: I love THEM. OMG, from the moment I put on the soft leather, to the grip, comfort and how it feels to ride with them.

Amazing. Although the leather is the only thing between you and bike – it still absorbs most of the vibrations that can make your hands numb on a long ride. I also love that they are only wrist length.

I’ll be wearing these for a long time. Thanks Leatherup! And the cost is amazing. I can’t believe I bought something this good for this cheap.

I live and work in Colorado and frequently have to operate my drones at their (and my) limits in very cold conditions. I’ve attempted to use other gloves with touch-screen-compatable fingertips but they are too cumbersome/inaccurate when using the UAS controller touch screen.

To me this is an unsafe manner to operate a drone. These thinner gloves wouldn’t keep my hands/fingers warm for too long. So I tried the PGYTECH gloves and they work great keeping my hands/fingers warm.

Using the gloves fold-back finger tips I feel more confident with making selections/changes on the touch screen versus using a touch-screen-compatable glove. My only complaint, and thus one less star rating, is the fit of the gloves is rather large.

I used the PGYTECH recommended measurements and purchased a large glove. It fits well across my hand but the fingertips are far to long (at least 10mm). Yes they are bulky/thick as this is part of the design to give extra warmth but It would be better if the gloves were a firmer/closer fit and the finger tips shorter.

Maybe a small glove would have fit me better? Overall they work great at keeping my hands/fingers warm in the very cold conditions (including wind chill). Purely from a safety perspective if you find yourself often working in the cold the I’d recommend trying these gloves.

Bought for Lockdown Winter. Being stuck at home found it necessary to go walkabout with camera gear to allieviate the boredom. Gets cold sitting around in hedges and fields trying to get excited! The gloves helped a lot and and proved there real worth when falling over in heavy mud and icy water, not an uncommon occurrence I’m afraid.

Did an excellent job of keeping my hand warm and dry, love the bendy finger tips holdback.

It’s summer so I haven’t tested them in the cold yet but based on what I have seen, I think they will be perfect for shooting on cold days. I doubt they will be warm enough for really cold sub zero shoots but I think they will be perfect for normal cold weather in the freezing range.

They appear to be well made and I like the magnets that hold the flaps down. I also really like that only the 2 fingers you need to operate the camera get exposed to the cold. There is also a finished edge on those two fingers that should help with wear and helps keep the covered part from slipping down the finger.

I normally use mittens with the flap but your fingers get so cold when shooting and they don’t have the finished edges so the thumb usually gets frayed and the cover doesn’t really stay on the thumb well.

I can’t wait to give these a try when the temps drop.

I asked for these gloves as a present as I did some research on them, and they seemed great. I was looking for gloves I could use for photography and a touchscreen. However, these gloves were a complete disappointment! The fingertip magnet holder is a great idea but poorly executed.

The magnet sits right on top of my knuckle and very uncomfortable when you bend your finger, even more so when it’s cold. On top of that, the gloves do not keep my fingers warm at all! My fingers were frozen solid, only being out in 32F for 10 mins; there is no insulation at all.

Also, the dexterity is pretty bad for this type of glove. I was hoping for a great pair of new gloves, but in the end, I did like anything about them.

I bought them as a lighter glove since I usually run pretty hot and needed a lighter glove since I was tired to have to take my bulky gloves every time I got to the chair line cause of temperature, also for warmer sunnier days.

Very comfortable, nice inside liner. As a light “softshell” glove they won’t be as waterproof as a full leather glove of course but as a softshell one they do a wonderful job.

I have had these gloves for about 2 months now, wearing almost daily for work. In general, they feel very heavy duty, and fit *like a glove*. I like how the knuckles are more reinforced, than true hard knuckles.

They are solid enough that punching concrete doesn’t hurt, but still slightly flexible, so if your employer doesnt allow “hard knuckle gloves”, well, you can bend your knuckles in half, so they arent really hard knuckle, are they? Really, my only two gripes about these gloves are A: the “touchscreen” palms dont really work for touch screen.

its kind of hit or miss. I completely gave up trying to use my phone while wearing them, which came as a big bummer to me. B: the sweat wipe panel on the thumb is already wearing through, revealing the material underneath.

not a big deal, since its not a huge part about the gloves that i care about, but its an aesthetic thing. All in all, I would recommend them to someone looking to buy a pair of good duty gloves, but im sure they arent the greatest pair in the world.

Living in Upstate NY, I was searching for a glove that was going to cut the chill in the winter but also be light enough to wear in the summer. These gloves fit the bill perfectly. The fit is true to the measurement chart, and the grip is very nice.

These gloves are not so bulky that they interfere with manipulation weapons, but also solid enough to keep my hands warm on a 35 degree day.

The materials are high quality, but the fit is not too good. I measured my hand and a medium should have been just right, but they fit a little tight. One of the fingers is also tighter than the others.

I have not tested their durability quite yet, but I did wear them in the cold and they did not seem to keep my hands very warm at all.

I suffer from Raynauds and live in Winnipeg where temperatures reach down to -30C to -40C and windchills -30C to -50C often from December through February. I have had to resort to electric glove liners inside my 8 year old size Mens medium Mercury Mitts the last 8 years in order to go snowshoeing, hike, walk, shovel snow (lots of it in 2022, for up to an hour).

The glove liners have been great with heating elements around every digit, much better than the wasteful chemical pads that heat only the palm or back of hand, but having to prepare the heated liners with batteries and keep them ready to go takes time.

However the Absolute gloves keep my hands toasty warm by themselves down to -25C for at least half an hour. With a BD glove liner they add another few degrees and time for me and with the heated liners on their lowest heat settings I’ll be good for much longer outings when the temps get down to the -40Cs.

My wrist to finger tip length is 7. 75”, finger knuckle hand circumference is 8. 25” (8. 75” with liners on). My 8 year old mercury mitts were a size Mens Medium but the liners matted out, the liners still fit in them.

I also have a pair of 4 year old Womens Large Mercury Mitts I’ve been using too which were a bit snug and they are slowly fitting better as their liners mat down. I am female and prefer the womens options/colours when possible, but when comes to keeping my fingers and toes I’ll choose the Unisex or Men’s.

Because I’m on the cusp of Mens/Unisex Medium to Large, BD first suggested I get the Large Absolute but I found my hands were swimming in the mitts and a short 15 minute test at -25C on one hand found it got cold as my hands had too much air around them; they keep warmer if there is less space to heat (as with sleeping bags, clothes, tents, etc.

). There was too much space around my hands and fingers even with liners on and when I tried to grab something the dexterity was very poor. Thankfully, BDs great customer service issued me an RA and I exchanged for the size Medium Absolute Mittens which fits great and I can still wear glove liners and the dexterity is much better.

There is a lot of space around the wrist and cuff which lets them fit over the heated liner battery pack (at the inside wrist) and sleeve cuffs. They are nice and light and compact down a fair bit to carry as backup.

I also bought a new pair of size unisex medium Mercury Mitts (as backup), size medium unisex Guide Finger Gloves (for finger dexterity for winter biking), and size large Enforcer gloves for backup, warmer temps, and when more dexterity is needed.

I have other BD products, lanterns, hiking and trekking poles, all great products. Thanks for helping me deal with this health condition so I can enjoy winter at its best (worst?) and great customer service BD!.

The Black Diamond Mont Blanc gloves are Weather Resistant for use with Trekking Poles. They breath well and offer great wind and moisture protection while providing enough warmth to wear during high output activities while allowing your hands to breath and shed moisture so your hands stay comfortable.

Gloves are effective through a wide temperature range though in extreme heat and extreme cold you may need have other options. I use for Hiking/Trekking, snowshoeing, ski Touring, XC skiing, general Backcountry uses etc.

The Gloves offer great gripping on Trekking Poles. They are very comfortable. The Gloves fit ‘True to Size’ or just slightly Large. The Gloves are better to be slightly Large than to be too small and tight, especially if wearing in cooler weather.

I normally wear Large Gloves with Black Diamond and I ordered Large in the Mont Blanc and they fit great though a bit loose which for me is absolutely perfect. Very impressed with the Black Diamond Mont Blanc Gloves.

I’ve used them for many activities that require Trekking Poles and I find them great for much of my Backcountry needs as well because of their comfort and weather Resistant qualities.

I bought these for ice climbing but I found them too warm for climbing in temperatures of around -12C though they were nice while on belay. The dexterity is decent though, especially for a warm glove, and there were no issues with gripping an ice tool.

For activities with a lower level of physical output, like skiing, or just being out in the cold, they’re warm and comfortable even in cold temperatures. I really like the split mitt/glove configuration because it gives both the warmth of a mitt and with pretty close to the dexterity of a glove, and there’s enough room in there for all my fingers if I want to keep them together.

Black Diamond’s sizing guide seems accurate to the fit of the glove. My only complaint about them is that there is some stitching fraying on the thumb after not a lot of use. It doesn’t seem to be compromising the glove and should be an easy enough fix if it gets worse, but I hoped for better for a $150 pair of gloves.

This is a pretty minor complaint though because I’m overall very happy with them.

I purchased the Medium gloves based on the size chart and that Large gloves usually have fingers that are too long and that make it difficult to grasp objects. I was expecting LEATHER gloves, but the material feels more like plastic.

The hand, texture and grip of the palm is more like leather, but the remainder of the glove feels like plastic and as such does not provide a good grip. With a poor grip it forces the user to have to grip tool handles harder to hold on causing more fatigue.

The “leather” also does not absorb leather conditioner unlike all of my other leather work gloves. I had purchased the gloves to use for splitting wood with a maul and for chainsaw work. Another issue is the medium size has the correct finger length, but the girth around the hand and fingers is tight and ends up being restrictive to circulation.

I wore them a few times to see if anything improved with the gloves, but they did not stretch to fit better and the leather didn’t soften to make it easier to grip tools. I was expecting a totally different “leather” performance.

I had purchsed these to replace a similar pair of EB gloves that, although only a few years old and with minimal use/wear had recently and quite unexpectedly lost the protective outer layer on the fingers and palms, as it had just rubbed off.

These seemed to be a better construction and I was initially happy with them until I tried them on. I am not a large man, nor do I have what could be considered large hands, however I typically wear large gloves.

Trying these on I found them difficult to get over my fingers due to the inner lining construction and then while the gloves were tight and possibly too tight in some areas of the fingers, there was too much material and space at the end of most of my fingers, which made for an akward feel and little to no ability to use the tips of your fingers.

While I could pull the gloves down to somewhat comensate for this issue, the gloves would not stay in place due to the minimal palm length. Considering they were too big in some areas and too small in others, I did not seek a replacement size perceiving that issue to just get worse, so I just returned them.

I bought these gloves to clear the snow off my car or shovel snow in 10 degree dry weather. My fingers froze in less than 15 minutes and the gloves are not waterproof! Just clearing off the snow or shoveling snow the gloves were wet, hardly any insulation in the gloves for warmth, the insulation in the glove is so thin!! I actually need to purchase a warm glove liner! There is no way you could wear these in the mountains or as work gloves in low digit winter weather, and the gloves get wet right away! I expected high quality warm winter gloves for outdoor leisure and quick clearing of snow.

The Leather mountain ops gloves are the worst winter gloves I have ever worn for cold winter weather. There is no way you can use these for skiing, your hands will freeze and get wet!!!.

I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I saw these gloves at the Rockefeller Center store in November and I wasn’t sure so I waited and I am thrilled that I was still able to find them online. The fit is perfect – I wear a size 7 glove and bought Medium.

The leather is soft and the gloves are very warm. The bow at the wrist is very cute. The tech feature really works – first pair of any “tech” gloves I have bought where it actually works! I love these gloves so much I ordered another pair in the wine/black color and they should be arriving soon!.

I love these gloves. I have them in all 3 colors. Sizing is slightly inconsistent. I wear size 7 glove and bought Medium in all 3, but the black pair fit great, brown was also good but a little larger and this last pair, in the wine, are also good bit a little tight.

Not drastic differences but slightly inconsistent. Not a problem except when the sale is final and online.

received as an anniversary present and am on fire for these stunning gloves. buttery leather in true red spices up any wintry layers. these gorgeous hot tamales are topped off with a big black leather bow and substantial golden square with ks engraved.

palms are midnight black leather, making it easy to keep these lovelies clean. tech friendly, too. snug fit. thin, soft lining. go ahead – get caught red-handed.

These gloves are very comfortable and warm enough for temperatures near freezing. In the low 20s and upper teens they are still somewhat warm although the fingers do get cold. The sizing is perfect and they are very close fitting and flexible.

The grippy material in the fingers and palm area work wonderfully and I have no trouble at all gripping camera or anything else. The only reason I give them 3 stars is the fact they are photography gloves and the main reason purchased is for the flip finger and thumb feature.

Well it flips open nicely but once open, it is impossible to get it back in place without taking the glove off and stuffing the material at the end of the finger back into the flipped tipped. The tip can be put back over the finger tip but it isn’t tucked in and just bunches up at the seam.

As a purchase for photography, this makes them not suitable for the purpose. Other than that one issue, the gloves are great! If FRDM could fix this issue, they would definitely rate 5 stars. I am keeping them but not for photography and will keep looking for the “perfect” glove.

Ok, so I am a photographer in Portland, Oregon. We get all of the forms of weather. Sometimes, when the season is right we will experience most of them in the same day. For many days consecutively. FRDM is the best around.

Warmth, comfort, quality, weatherproofing. So far I have 3 different pairs of FRDM gloves(a couple of comfy beanies too. ). This pair is my favorite for rainy cold times out hunting for shots when I need warmth and dryness, with the flexibility to shoot at the flip of a fingertip.

Hands down, my favorite and in my view THE VERY BEST gloves of my lifetime(40+ years). The functionality is awesome. I would like to see pockets on the tops of the body of the glove.

I am excited to find this type of glove to use for photography when the weather is cold. My hand measurements were between sizes so the recommendation from FRDM was to go with the smaller glove. That was the correct choice for me.

The gloves fit well and love the magnetic catches for the removable tips.

The quality was probably okay but I could not actually wear them because both pairs were so small that I could not even get my hand inside them even though I have a normal size hand. As they are made in China, it may be that the sizing is not in accordance with UK hand sizes.

But that is no excuse.

The leather is absolutely luxurious and the colour (dark olive) is unique. Plus my gloves fit perfectly. If the temperature is above zero, the gloves keep your hands warm quite well. I would recommend this product.

These gloves are excellent for hunting. They are also quite durable. The velcro design on the index finger is truly ingenious and easy to use.

Great pair of gloves! Made with luxurious looking leather that feels buttery soft, and the inside has a soft lining. The stitching throughout is perfect and there is no loose or missing stitches. While being warm, they also manage to look quite good while doing it.

The half zipper adds a touch of style and they slide up/down easily. Having touchscreen fingertips is awesome, I am able to use my iPhone and Apple Watch while wearing them. I have gotten many compliments while wearing them.

I love leather gloves. The exude elegance, have a look of grace and elegance about them. These gloves are no different. I have worn these gloves for the last few weeks and they are still in pristine condition as the day I received them.

Great gloves arrived quickly. I ordered the XL size because I often find gloves a bit tight on the fingers which cuts down circulation And makes my fingers cold. So these fit ok but fingers are ever so slightly tight but the palm and back of the hand are a little baggy.

I have been on a few cycle rides in the cold and wet and they have performed well, although I stopped a couple of times and took them off to ensure good circulation to my fingers. If you have slim hands these would be a great buy.

The XL size is what I needed and it fit perfectly. Warm and dry it keeps its promises. It’s a pity that in this size/model the “touch” feature was not implemented, I have another L size that has it. But being warm is the primary need.

Snug fitting and very warm, just what l needed.

These were out of stock when I ordered but my son really liked the design so I requested they send when it came in. He had already been sent to his base overseas so I don’t know if they fit him. I wear a woman’s medium and men’s small was a tight fit.

They will be good for his duties if they do fit. They aren’t thermal gloves like thick insulated gloves but may be sufficient for his needs. If not U. S. Patriot will accept the return. I was surprised how quickly I received when they were out of stock a couple weeks earlier.

Excellent gloves! The large size was a bit small on my hands but wetting them and wearing them afterward helped stretch them out. A lot of excess dye comes out when they are wet so laundering them before wearing is something I’d recommend.
