20 Best Gloves For Skiing (2022 Updated)

I bought this about a month ago before going on a skiing trip. The sizing chart they offer is way off – it suggested I was on the upper side of a small, so I ordered a medium, and that was a good bit too snug.

I do not have small hands. It’s possible I mis-measured, but it seems like the sizing chart is just inaccurate. The little decorative webbing also seems to come off pretty easily. However other than that, and once I got the right size of glove (a large for me), I only had good things to say.

Over many whole days of skiing the gloves kept my hands warm, but remained very breathable. They protect very well against water and wind as well. I was a little hesitant to buy some expensive gloves, but these are well worth the price.

I got a size small in volcano. These gloves will be great for my walks when it gets very cold outside soon. They are so warm it’s unreal. They are a little tight but I believe that is by design and not uncomfortable.

There are straps to tighten and loosen the wrists. Where your fingers go is where it’s tight too, but likely by design to keep your fingers as warm as possible.

My 7 year old son loves these gloves, they look cool, are comfortable, and keep him warm and dry. To note, this season’s style runs small. Last year’s gloves, which still fit, are a size small. This year we had to size up to a medium however.

Follow care instructions and hand wash, I put his old gloves in the machine on gentle cycle and the material on the palm shredded.

I’ve heard a lot of high praise of Hestras and finally decided to spend the money on a nice pair. So far they have stood up to the expectations. I get super cold and these mittens are very good at warming my hands up.

Even if I leave them in my cold car I can put them on and they will quickly warm up my hands. The removable liner is super convenient for washing and the outer shell is very durable and the waterproof capabilities on these are insanely good – my hands have been nowhere near getting wet.

I use these when driving (although they are definitely a little bulky for that) and skiing. If you are not planning on using these gloves in the snow then I wouldn’t recommend them just because the wrists are designed to be super large to keep out snow so it would look super bulky if you were wearing these gloves without a bigger jacket.

They also come with wrist attachments which are super convenient so that you can take them off while on the ski lift and not worry about them falling to the ground. For sizing I measured my hands and ordered to the recommended size and they were true to fit (size 8).

I like to X-country ski for recreation. I live in New Jersey, hardly The Great White North as far as cold, but I have been searching for any kind of glove or mitten that would keep my hands warm from the start.

I’m still looking. These pricey mitts are no better than nearly any other type — several types of “ski” gloves or even ragg wool gloves with leather palms — that I’ve tried. Like all the others, my fingers freeze in these Hestras for the first twenty minutes of skiing ’til my body temp rises, so I have to stop and curl my fingers into my palm to warm them.

It was also a disappointment that Hestra makes these in China; I had assumed for the price that they’d be made in Sweden. I truly wonder what gloves ski racers, both downhill and cross country, wear that kept their fingers warm, particularly downhillers, who hit 70 mph; now that’s a real wind chill factor.

I’m not a skier or a snowboarder but someone that does enjoy being outside in the winter and playing/toboganning/etc with my young daughter. I’ve always just bought cheap gloves (sub $20 kind of things) that wear out while providing a moderate amount of warmth/comfort.

In recent years I’ve developed poor circulation in my hands and feet so outdoor time can get very uncomfortable very quickly for me. I decided it was finally time to splurge on a nice pair of gloves.

I am so happy with these so far and appreciate all the finer details of a quality glove like the wrist straps, replaceable inserts, carabiner, etc. They are very warm making my hands so much happier.

I am very glad I bought these gloves. I would not hesitate to purchase again if I ever lost them (I’m certainly not concerned I’ll have to replace them for any reason other than loss). I could see myself purchasing another pair of Hestra in the future for daily cold weather activity like walks, driving, etc.

It doesn’t look as though I’ll be trying them out anywhere colder than suburbia anytime soon, but I haven’t had a single regret about this purchase. Even in snow and howling wind & rain these gloves have kept my hands pretty warm.

They’re lightweight too, and dry fairly quickly.

Bought these for my brother in law and he was delighted. He’s a fairly big guy and struggles with finding gloves to fit his hands. Also was perfect for his ski trip.

Well designed for the great outdoors. They clip together when not in use and when out walking they are secured to the wrists. These facilities make losing one or mislaying a glove unlikely particularly in high winds.

They are also well insulated and so comfortable.

The mitts seem decent enough and hopefully with Gortex will keep hands dry, this season will tell. Would have been good if sercurity hoops were added to the mitts

I bought these during lockdown as Ive been walking loads and my hands have suffered. Not the warmest gloves but comfy and do the job except when the weather is sub zero. Worth the money.

Great product, but keep in mind that XL gloves are huge, needed L size for my dad who wears Size XL jackets from Maintain warehouse

Just received these mitts for my 7. 5 year old daughter. A little on the large size for a medium but perfect to grow into. Haven’t tried them yet but they seem warm and of good quality. However they advertise a ‘zippered pocket’ for hand warmers.

To my knowledge there is no zippered pocket (inside or outside the mitt). I also do not see the nose wipe either. I thought the zippered pocket was a nice selling feature and was in fact the reason I choose this mitt as we live in Northern Canada with very cold weather at times.

Overall, nice mitts, will keep them but disappointed in the false advertising.

A bit big based on measurements but not excessive. All 3 kids are wearing them, 9 year old boy size L, 7,5 year old girls wearing M. my 5 year old is tall for her age. The kids have never complained of cold hands even in -20.

They tell me they’re soft inside and their hands don’t get wet other than becoming sweaty with hours of outdoor play. Easy to put on, draw cord is great to cinch at the wrist. Hopefully they last the entire winter season!.

Great mitts for long periods outside. Because they are shorter in the arm than some other mitts, snow can get in under the cuff. The fit is good, sizing as indicated in the sizing chart.

Had an old pair of these that I loved and hoped that the ones I ordered were the same. Fit great and are warm! I have arthritis so sometimes hard to find gloves that fit and keep my hands warm. The screen touch tips make using my phone easy too.

Love love love these gloves not too tight not too short for my long nails. There’s just the right amount of warmth for me to work in a garden throughout the snowy winter! Only buying a new one because I lost the last pair !.

They’re fine. I was surprised by the fit. I do have large hands, but the XL feels like it’s barely too small. They are wearable, but I’m hoping the stretch out. The fingers are just a tad short. My biggest gripe is that the leather on the glove is monstrous in comparison to the inner liner.

For example, there is an inch of material extending past the end of my thumbs on them. There is loose material on each finger, but specifically the thumbs. This makes it so there is zero dexterity to them.

I wish I could like these more.

i picked up a pair of these gloves for snowboarding at the beginning of the season. They are fantastic! I noticed a couple reviewers disappointed with the waterproofing. They are leather, they need to be sealed.

I picked up a tub of Sno-Seal (Nik Wax works well also) and sealed them while warm before using them. Now they are bomber, waterproof and hard wearing. Waxing the leather also darkens the leather and adds character.

The more I use them the cooler looking they get. They have kept my hands warm during 20 degree days on the mountain as well.

Warm and durable work glove. The leather is more supple than previous Marmot leather gloves I’ve owned. Only real complaint is the thumb seems oversized which slightly affects dexterity.

Great overall glove that will last with care, the leather definitely loves the extra balm. Reading other reviews I can relate to the cold hands people describe where I’ve experienced this when standing still in long lift lines, in the wind or on slow chair lifts.

Unless you’re charging groomers/bump or tree runs, I wouldn’t consider these my go to “resort” gloves. Haven’t had any warmth issues with the gloves even in single digit temperatures (F), as long as I’m actively skiing or touring in them.

But I did take the advice of other reviews and got a size larger to utilize glove liners which helps on extra windy days and single digit temps. The water resistance is just that. resistant. If you decide to throw your skis on your shoulder to hike the ridge, definitely get all the ice/snow off your tips or your gloves will get soaked.

I’d still pack a second pair of gloves for the day, would love to see Hestra throw in the Czone membrane into these. The soft flex and dexterity is the best I’ve experienced in a ski glove and the thick back hand padding helped me win a fight with some tree branches.

Bottom line, I love skiing with these gloves on most west coast days but keep a set of Goretex mittens on the side for chasing storms and powder.

These are gorgeous gloves. They look and feel like a million bucks, but they are not warm. I think mine are the older (softer) goatskin version. Dexterity is the best of any glove I’ve used, however the insulation packs-out fairly quickly, and even treated the water resistance is limited.

Once you find the right size (size up), the quality, fit and feel are top notch. I’ve had a couple pairs and they have held up well despite the softer leather. These work for me at 25° and up if it’s not wet or too windy.

I have some vertical cut mittens that I use below 25° and those (although also not particularly warm) see much more action than these gloves (they’re really versatile for a mitten since the dexterity is so good).

If you’re in a colder region (I’m in mostly in VT) and/or have trouble staying warm, and you’re looking one warm & dry set of gloves ? these are NOT them. If you want to have a sweet pair of gloves to wear on the bluebird days, and don’t mind spending some dough, these are a great choice.

The Hestra Fall Line are really well made. A1 workmanship, with excellent quality leather. They are insulated with a fleece-like inner that is attached within, so the inner doesn’t pull out. The insulation and fit is probably best described as between a work glove and ski glove.

Dexterity is good. Unfortunately I had to send these back as they were a size too big. But once remedied with the correct size I found these warm well below 0 degrees Celcius. Only issue, which is small, is they are a bit stiff at first, but work in fast enough.

Highly recommended.

bought for my better half, bit bulky , but does what it say`s, no complaints about cold hands anymore, good quality and price.

Product as described. I am very pleased that I was able to find some on this site as I had lost a similar pair previously and there were none stocked in the shops as they say they are a winter product.

Also they are much cheaper than the ones I bought before but ate just as good. I use them to cycle to work in the mornings and they are just what I needed.

Perfect they keep my hand warm when taking my dog out

We purchased two pairs of gloves and used them for three days in Whistler last week. The strap on one pair broke the first time it was tightened around the wrist, and the second pair got totally soaked from just being in deep snow.

These are not true ski gloves, and they are not strong material. I highly advise sticking with the name brands for gloves. This is one of the only items I’ve experienced at Italic that was truly subpar.

I measured my partner’s hands, and when we tried them on they felt tight around the fingers for him and for me (female, slender hands). He usually wears a Small in another brand, but we returned these and purchased the large.

I would have kept them for myself if the fingers weren’t so long. The measurements listed seemed a bit off. The quality feels amazing, and felt warm walking around in 10 degree weather.

Bought three pairs of this glove because I think they are out of production. Total I have owned 7 or 8 pairs. They are my favorite spring skiing/ice-climbing glove because of their exceptional tactile sensitivity.

Black synthetic top warms and dries gloves solar, leather palm, thumb cup and fingers for durability on rope or ski pole, clip to keep gloves together. I wear an 8 Hestra and the medium JH is hard to get on but fits like a latex glove when it’s there.

I have wide hands and thick/mid-short fingers. I seek a very tight fit with zero extra space at the fingertips, and I don’t need any insulation, so that’s my criteria for this glove. So I pull on the thin narrow neoprene cuff probably a lot harder than what it was designed for, hence the one caveat.

The thin neoprene cuff is very tight (which I want) and the pull tab is very thin, so when I get the glove I immediately take it to a local gear repair shop (TEC in Truckee) and have them reinforce it.

If I don’t, it tears in a couple days. Comes with a packet of Nickwax, which is nice. This is a high performance glove for someone that wants the perfect glove for specific conditions. These are the Holy Grail for MI.

These are what I wanted. Waterproof leather front, cloth back for wiping goggles, not too warm but kept the elements off of you. Problem is the seem where the cuff meets the palm started to tear on my right hand glove after owning for under 2 months and roughly 15-20 days on resort.

I wasn’t too harsh on them, I’ve had the same pair of HOWL gloves for 2 years. It seems from taking the gloves on and off, using the pull tab built into the gloves, they tore. Pretty let down, I was told flylow made bomb-proof equipment.

By far my favorite and the best bang for your bucks. I have tried all kind of mittens on the market and often usually go for the Gore-tex version since I’m from the PNW (from Dakine, Burton, Oyuki etc.

). I think these FLylow have become my most used and my favorite. These are very well insulated. and actual soft leather. Buy yourself some sno-seal and these will become more waterproof than any Gore-tex mittens out there.

Because of the leather and condura material, these are super durable too. I have used these for this entire season (about 40 days so far and I’m shooting for 50 days) and they hold up super well. I often have to buy 2 pairs of mittens every season just because how much I’m abusing them.

I started off with a pair of leki WCR ski poles, without a doubt the best ski poles I have ever skied with, I was anxious to try the leki ski gloves with the Quick Release attachment. WOW! I’m so glad I did, not only an excellent feature but the gloves alone are the best fitting of any glove I have ever tried, they are super warm, very comfortable and easy to maneuver! You can spend more for gloves but you are not going to get a better glove! Highly recommended,.

I found this glove at a discount and it was a size larger than my hand measurement. Much to my surprise when I received the gloves they fit perfectly! So it seems they run slightly small. Excellent dexterity, water and wind proof and plenty of warmth to get through a Wisconsin winter!.

I bought these exactly according to the measurement recommendation and they feel like they’re custom made for me. Amazing quality and feeling while holding the poles. I also have Leki Detect poles with the hook which is a perfect combo.

Very warm – the zippered pocket works! Lots of gloves in this category are too curved or board straight. This one actually allows your hand to relax and rest. Plus it’s supportive and does adjust to your hand.

It seems to run small by about 1/2 size. So far a great purchase!.

I have purchased many gloves and have found the Kombi Sanctum GORE-TEX the best. Living in WNY we have cold. snowy and long winters. These gloves are so warm and comfortable to wear. Using outdoor equipment I need flexibility and warm combined- these gloves hold up to the challenge.

I can also drive comfortably with them on. They cost a bit more but are worth every penny. They are even fashionable wearing with my ski coat. Love em.

I got this mittens for my ski trip to Whistler , Canada. The been exposed to -20C ( with hand warmer puds) and -10 (with out hand warmer puds). I used them for seven days already and can not be more happy.

This mittens are long and “go” over jacket with out problem. mittens equation with several features that help easy to put this mittens on. Mittens also has elastic cafls that protecting to be lost. I found such feature very convenient.

This is the best ski mittens that I ever own.

Nicely made gloves. The liner gloves fit very well. Even though I have very small hands, the size chart suggested a M. Getting liners inside the mittens isn’t too frustrating. Mittens are slightly larger than I’d hoped but will probably fit a little better with handwarmers in.

I was very excited about the handwarmer pocket. Took a bit of searching to find it since it’s on the inside of the mitten liner with just a slit opening. The pocket seems a bit small – don’t know yet if it will actually hold a handwarmer packet.

Looking fwd to seeing how warm these are this winter.

This is terrible dishonest product presentation: nowhere on the immediate web description does it say that these are gloves in a mitten outer shell. You have to click on the + details to get that info – which I did not, because who suspects that a mitten is really a glove? It would have been very easy for North Face to simply write in plain sight that these are gloves inside mitten shells; then I would have not bought them.

The entire point of mittens for me is that my fingers retain body heat. Second, these mediums were too small; my hands were wrapped like a mummy. In every pair of mittens and gloves that I own – Dakine, outdoor research, EMS, Burton – I am a medium.

These mediums were bone strangling. Finally, North Face ships in a ton of plastic: inner plastic bag in a huge outer plastic bag. I expected better environmental effort from them.

Okay so I don’t usually leave bad reviews. I just don’t and I wanted so so badly to love these gloves. I bought the medium in sage green and was so excited to use them skiing. However the first chance I got to use them ended pretty poorly.

They didn’t keep my fingers all that warm even though it was a warm day. Yet I continued to give them the benefit of the doubt I really wanted to like them. Second time I wore them was this weekend back on the slopes….

and I have never hated a pair of gloves more than these. I don’t know how it is even possible but wearing these was worse than not wearing ANY gloves outside. On a mountain. In Vermont. In January!?!!? Like what?!? I started crying I was in so much pain they weren’t even tight on me, but somehow took away any warmth I had in my fingers until I could no longer hold my poles.

It was crazy. As soon as I took them off it was already better. I repeat NOT wearing them on a mountain during a VT winter was better. I ended up wearing a cheap pair of gloves my partner had and those were perfectly fine.

I am honestly in shock. I can’t believe I spent as much as I did on these. I don’t know if I will ever even want to wear them again. It was that painful to wear these.

I got a pair very similar to these a couple years ago for Christmas. let me tell you, I LOVE them so much. I wanted to get my sister a pair too cause she’s always borrowing mine and there were a few similar ones on the site.

Unfortunately these ones are not as quite as great as my other ones but very good nonetheless. She took them downhill skiing and never once complained about her hands being cold. I was in $130 expensive ski gloves and still got a bit cold.

Do I think hers were better than the nice ski gloves? No. But I do think they did an excellent job keeping her warm. The straps that go around your wrists are great if you’re constantly taking them on and off (like I am in the barn).

They’re also double layered so the inside is a nice cozy gloveish thing but it’s thin enough to let your hand/fingers spreading heat to one another. Outside of this is a nice wind proof, waterproof mitten layer keeping everything together.

I also have a pair of gloves made out of the same materials and they’re nothing like the mittens. I’ll never be going back to gloves after using mittens. Especially these ones or the other, thicker ones on the site.

Michigan winters SUCK and these are wonderful.

The gloves did a splendid job of keeping the palms warm during the Kailash trek. However, it is not easy to do things like handle, say, the mobile phone or a cup of tea with the gloves on. And pulling them off and putting them on again is not exactly easy.

Quality is really good and it is warmth enough even in -20 degree Celsius. Built quality is good just go with one bigger size then the regular one of yours.

Over the years, I have collected several Hen and Rooster Baby Barlow knives and believe they are some of the finest little pocket knives ever made. The Rough Rider Little Barlow seems to be a copy of the Hen and Rooster knife, and I must say that Rough Rider has done a great job.

The fit and finish of the knife I received is very good; the blade is 440 stainless steel (I suspect A or B 440); is shaving sharp out of the box, and it holds an edge well. OK, OK – not saying this knife is a clone of the Hen and Rooster knife with regards to overall quality, but it’s a darn good copy; a perfect size to carry in your pocked for those everyday chores – cleaning your fingernails, opening letters or boxes, cutting twine, etc.

A good looking, functional little pocket knife, that won’t wear a hole in your pants pocket or your wallet. Thanks, Rough Rider!.

This is a great EDC knife and it is a very solid and sharp knife. I had put it through my break in test that included cutting cardboard boxes, small tree branches, and thick rope and it did not disspoint me at all.

It has a very nice snap to it when it opens and closes. It doesn’t take much to sharpen this knfe and holds an edge very well.

Has survived a very cold, wet and wintry Scout camp and kept hands warm so I’d say excellent!

Comfy gloves. Bought larges, fit more like mediums. ‘Tis the gifting season so I’ll probably order XL and gift wrap these for my little brother
