20 Best Gloves For Snow (2022 Updated)

These are really nice because they are not too thick and allow decent dexterity. I use them as cycling gloves down to about 0 degrees and they are warm enough. I have small hands and purchased a size small and they are quite snug but do loosen up a bit with time.

Overall, I am happy with this purchase.

They are great gloves. They are built for the elements- warm and waterproof with enough dexterity for me to hold onto and work on my project. I would have preferred the insulation the inserts provided was built into the glove itself instead of being a separate insert because I know eventually, I will misplace the inserts and wearing the inserts inside the gloves to some extent restricts my fingers movements.

However, the inserts are really not an issue because I have worn these gloves during a winter northeaster’s snowstorm with single digit temperatures and without the inserts, they kept my hands more than warm enough.

I would not hesitate to purchase these gloves again. As for the appearance box below- I do not care about appearance- all I care about is warmth- dryness- functionality- and durability and these gloves meet all what matters to me.

With most other gloves I usually need to buy replacements every 3-4 weeks due to using them for frequent salt throwing at work. These have just passed the 1 month mark and are showing no signs of tearing other than the leather strip that runs up the cuff.

Typically the first place my gloves wear out is in the fingers but these are holding up well in that area. I do notice a lump in the tip of the right index finger, I am not sure if that is material from the gloves or if it is a piece of salt that somehow made its way in.

Overall great gloves and I will be buying these from now on. The touch screen compatible finger tip actually works, I have had many gloves that do not work on touch screens even when advertised as such.

I have to say, first, that I am a HUGE Carhartt proponent. I have several dozen pieces. Many coats and vests. This was the first item from Carhartt that has not measured up. My hands absolutely froze during only moderately cold temps.

Ambient temperature was in the low 30’s. It was literally as if I wasn’t wearing gloves, at all, except for the limited mobility and tactile decrease. Completely shocked and disappointed with the lack of performance from these gloves.

The gloves i got were not made properly and i am returning them. The inner liner is not made right and when you put your left hand in these gloves the pinky finger will only go in a third of the way making it impossible to get the glove on.

I am sure if made correctly these would be nice gloves. A person on here said her son had the same problem i had and i wonder if i got his returned gloves. I am putting a note in with the gloves not to resell ,defective.

I was very happy when I received them for my husband. He has very large hands and we havent been able to find gloves big enough. All the gloves have been a size 2xL. We were surprised when these fit.

They are of good quality and should be very warm. We live in northen wi.

The quality of these gloves are very nice, well made. Unfortunately they were too big. I ordered a medium/large my normal size for women’s gloves. When I got these they were much to large. Thinking it was a men’s size even though I ordered a women’s glove.

Sadly I had to return. I was afraid to order the smaller glove. Wish they were in store so I could try on.

My Black Diamond Legend Gloves lasted only 3 months (10 user days for a few hours each day for a total of no more than 30 hours of total use). The outside sheep skin leather tore along the seam for 5 inches, rendering the glove completely useless.

I was so disappointed in the quality of workmanship. I was also deeply disappointed in how cold these gloves were. I bought them for winter dog walks and they were the coldest gloves I own. Obviously Black Diamond does not field test their gloves or they wouldn’t sell these cold of gloves.

How can a “reputable” outdoor manufacturer offer such a disappointing product is beyond me. For the price you pay for these gloves I was expecting much more from Black Diamond. I couldn’t submit a warranty claim within the warranty period because I had misplaced my invoice.

Once I located my invoice I submitted a warranty claim even though it was well past the deadline. The warranty department did offered my a discount towards a new pair, but good sense would tell you to stay clear of all Black Diamond gloves.

These are pretty nice thin liner gloves. They provide just a bit of warmth, and just a bit of wind resistance. I’ll wear them on their own just to take the edge off a cool windy day. Under some thick wool gloves they’re quite effective at cutting the wind.

I wish they were a little more elastic, as the fit isn’t amazing, but I have relatively long slender hands, so they probably fit others a little better. The touch screen tips are slightly annoying since they’re a little stiffer and the glove material is so flimsy, but they work well enough, and I’m always happy to have them on a liner when I need to quickly interact with my phone.

I don’t think these are anything special, so don’t give the arc’teryx name too much credit here, but they are basically what they say they are.

I was looking for a pair of gloves to wear during high output activities in cold and/or windy conditions where a regular liner glove (made of polyester or merino) does not fit the bill. They work as intended, and in essence they are the equivalent of a soft shell for your hands (compared to liner gloves that are more like a baselayer or a fleece layer).

They effectively block wind better than any light gloves I have tried, while remaining fairly breathable, thanks to their soft shell material. Of note, they provide minimal insulation on their own, so unless you are active or the weather is mild, they will not keep you very warm.

If you are active (ex: running, snowshoeing, XC skiing. ), they will keep you comfortable in a wider range of temperatures than traditional insulated gloves. The main drawbacks I foresee is that they will probably not be very durable as they have no padding in high wear areas, so activities with poles will probably wear them down more quickly than I would hope.

Also, the fabric has some stretch, but not as much as regular liner gloves, which means they are a bit tight (especially when passing your hand through the wrist) and I imagine that people with thicker hands/fingers might find them too tight (possibly impairing blood circulation therefore making their hands colder).

Finally, they are expensive for light gloves, which is a unfortunately a trademark of both Arc’teryx and Gore.

Gloves are exactly what i expected in terms of performance, a good weather resistant shell with a bit of insulation (but not very much). Don’t expect these to be staggeringly warm – i wouldn’t count on them in double digit negative temperature, but they’re great on days where you dont want a bulky glove.

That being said the fitment is a little strange. Based on reviews i wasn’t sure what size to get so i ordered both L and XL. I’m usually a L in gloves, but i found the large was a little on the short side in the palm (didn’t come down as low on the palm/wrist as i expected).

the XL fit better on the palm, but the fingers had huge fingers and oddly proportioned. my index and middle finger were okay, but there was almost an inch of excess in the pinky. Ultimately i ended up keeping the L as i didnt’ like the extra volume in my fingers in the XL, but i’d be a little happer if the palm length was longer.

Still happy with it overall, just quirky sizing.

I had an older version of these for about 12 years that were absolute tanks. held up great and were super warm. Great for working (cutting/hauling wood, wrenching on equipment, etc) in the colder months.

They’ve finally started to fall apart, so it was time to replace them. The gloves themselves are pretty much what I had been hoping for, but the quality is just not there. The fabric material feels very cheap and one of the fingers started to come unstitched after only the second wear (no work, just turning a steering wheel on a snow plow tractor).

I reached out to them about a replacement/exchange and they basically shrugged and said I could return them and try buying another pair. This is the second item I’ve purchased from Carhartt in the past year that is substantially degraded in quality from the same item years prior.

I am returning these and will be looking for somewhere else to purchase.

I have an older pair of these gloves that I’ve tried to get a second pair of because my old ones are THE PERFECT pair of gloves. My original ones are size medium and have always fit perfectly. I’ve since ordered another medium and they are much smaller — I can hardly even get them on my hands and then they are much too tight.

So I ordered this size large pair, and the hand part fits much better, more like my original pair, but the fingers are much too long. This is a common problem I’ve found with Carhartt products: the sizing never stays the same and it’s impossible to duplicate my favorites.

While I believe these are the best made gloves out there for warmth —even better than as marketed —I’m highly disappointed that I can’t get another pair to fit anywhere close to my original pair and that’s highly disappointing.

Wore them once for about an hour shoveling snow. I bought a large, I have long fingers and like my mittens to be roomy. They were great, no complaints. Kept my hands very warm and dry. Until, I went to put them in again and the seam was coming apart at the side.

I called customer service, my first option was to send them back for repair, which could take up to a month. My second option was to return them and reorder. They didn’t have the color I wanted but I settled anyway.

They could offer my a small percentage off or partial expedited shipping. The rep could have cared less. Put me on hold a dozen times and ultimately after the 4th hold for several minutes, I hung up.

Returned to the store and will not buy another product again. Sales reps are just so rude, I felt I was bothering them. Anyway, overall I don’t recommend due to the lack of longevity.

I Really enjoyed these gloves! I bought 2 pairs as they do fit a bit snug. Usually I am head to toe medium in everything type of person. But I ended up ordering a second pair in Large in order to Fit a liner inside.

The Medium are good for warmer ski days. The only thing I wish was Dakine made these in Mittens to keep the fingers warmer. I am an Athletic Therapist + Canadian Ski Patroler and these function well to help prevent wrist sprains / fractures.

They have a Velcro strap that goes all around in order to snug them up. The wrist guard is on the front / back of the hand and sandwiches it. There is a string as well that helps to hold them so you don’t drop them while you take a photo or something! 100% would recommend and buy again.

These check all the boxes for me from the description, but the performance lacked. The biggest flaw was that they are not waterproof. Being an east coast skier the weather changes often and I find myself in rain, these unfortunately did not withstand more then an hr before I found my hands getting damp even with the liners.

The second biggest flaw is the dexterity. The thumb feels tighter for some reason and is hard to even grip my poles. I sent back the first pair I got and sized up which helped a little but it was still stiff.

Other then those two gripes I love everything about them: Back pockets for warmers/pass, liners are awesome and touch screen capable (however the liners pile really quickly) Goggle Lens wiper, soft fabric for wiping nose, wrist straps etc are all great.

As someone who loves expensive gloves but hates paying for them, these are actually so great. I was expecting cheapies that would remind me of the cheap gloves of 15 years ago, but these are quite decent and not horribly ugly by any means.

They don’t like as classy as my Roeckls, but as winter beater gloves, I don’t think there’s a better glove for the price.

I regularly wear these while running in the winter. Great for temperatures from 30 down to the single digits. Might not be best for non-active use in very cold weather, but great when running. They fit well and dry quickly from any sweat accumulation.

I have used these for 2 seasons cross country skiing. Excellent in all but the coldest weather in the Pacific NW or hard rain days. They are not water proof but fine when it is snowing. They are somewhat wind resistant.

The insulation works well with the cross country grip straps that go around the base of the hand.

I lost my original pair, and almost fell into depression. Although they are marketed as Running Gloves, I find these the ultimate driving gloves if you dont have a heated Steering Wheel. They are tight fitting without being restrictive, offering great manipulation and tactile feel, have rubber lined nibs on the fingers and palms to give you great grip, especially on a steering wheel, and the touch screen tips are the best Ive ever tried on any device with great accuracy.

Only shortcoming is they are not very warm in very cold -10C+ weather at all, but I keep other gloves for that.

Comfortable and warm glove with snug fit. Good flexibility and dexterity with the glove on. Very pleased and recommend it.

I had also bought silk gloves to go with them, but at some point in Lapland, -10 degrees, I was so cold that I’d rather walk with my silk gloves holding a warmer in each hands, than with those gloves.

My hands were chapped and hurting. For a snowmobile trip, Finish people gave us excellent mitten gloves and laughed when they saw ours. I had to buy a pair in Finland to continue my trip. Very disappointing as I didn’t take the first price and was expecting a better product.

Rain Snow Wind. Absolutely perfect. Husband and Son had no problem with warmth. I didn’t get on with these but I managed.

Good quality waterproof gloves. My hands are small and went for medium. Tight fit around fingers and wrists to prevent the cold getting it.

TNF got the combining the gripability and touchscreen sensor functions correct on this glove. The sensor tips work well, and the silicone dots extend far enough up the fingers and thumbs to be useful.

The fabric stretches but holds structure, although because it holds structure, the back of the hand doesn’t conform along the back of your hand when making a fist. This creates a openening tunnel from the cuff to where your knuckles bend if you aren’t wearing a jacket or something over the gloves.

There cuffs are box structured so there is not hugging your wrist, which also contributes to the opening issue when gripping something or making a fist. The cuff area (there is no real cuff) isn’t as long as I would like so it readily pulls out from under a jacket sleeve.

Because of how the gloves is structured you do need to pull the gloves on over your palm area, since the seam is structured and not as giving as the fabric panels. Because there is no real cuff, the wrist area won’t be hugging your wrists.

The 40g thermolite isn’t very warm and I’m not really a fan of thermolite since I don’t find it all that warm. For being targeted as a stand alone glove, these gloves are not something I would wear below mid-30s F.

The wind resistant Apex like shell backing does block wind like when I’m biking, although like TNF Apex jackets, wind does penetrate. There is a little hanging loop inside, which I don’t get. TNF could just have made it usable as a loop to assist in pulling on the glove.

I do like the small flat clips. They are functional, small, and low profile. I have used the gloves under my Gore-Tex infinium shells and they work similarly as any other midweight liner glove, albeit with more structured fabric, and again not as warm with only 40g thermolite.

For a shoulder season glove, they are fine.

Ladies, I’m gonna tell you that these gloves are the coziest, softest, high quality, innovative, durable, comfortable, and reliable gloves I’ve ever owned. I recently purchased a pair of women’s Nike gloves from Dick’s that had the ability to use touch screen devices while wearing them, and at first I thought they were great.

They’re awful. Especially after buying these North Face Osito gloves. The UR technology in these gloves is truly what makes them better than the rest in my opinion. All TEN fingers AND palms can be used on a touchscreen; unlike the 2 little sewn on patches at the tips of the thumb and pointer finger on other gloves.

Putting innovation and technology aside, just the warmth and softness of these gloves could sell them alone. I love that they’ve got a “stiffness” to them, almost like they’re giving your hands and fingers a big bear hug, lol.

I am a professional photographer and drone pilot. My work is 80% outdoors and often in very cold weather. Even with good warm wool gloves, my fingertips got uncomfortably cold, like frostbite cold! I needed a good solution.

These gloves have proven to be an excellent first layer. I combine these gloves with a wool flip-type glove. This has allowed me to operate either the camera or the drone with the flexibility to use my fingers, and the touch screen fingertips work perfectly! These gloves by themselves kept both my hands and my fingertips surprisingly warm.

When my fingertips need additional warmth, I flip the hood of the over glove, and voila! my entire hand is toasty. I highly recommend these gloves as a first layer, and the ONLY reason that I didn’t give these 5 stars is because I wanted to be credible without giving the appearance that this review was subsidized in any way.

Honestly, these are very good gloves!.

I’m an equestrian, but also a cyclist. I ride my bike hard for longer periods of time even in very bad weather. These are super great warmth but sweaty hands after half hour of hard biking. Excellent quality! Fit is true and very good.

Haven’t tested waterproof yet. They’re a little bulky so not much dexterity for detail adjustments like on my bike lock or putting lights on. Overall I’m very happy to find quality, warmth and great fit.

In my opinion, these gloves are at best a fall weight glove. Severely lacking in insulation in the palm and fingers. My hands got cold in 25 degree weather mucking and feeding my horses. I ordered 1 sz up as many reviewers stated they ran small.

They are too big for me so I would say they run more true to size. I usually wear a 7, I ordered an 8 and they are too long fingered and too wide. If they had more insulation I would have at least given them 4 stars since they haven’t gotten wet from being in the snow and rain, but without that insulation, they only get 3 stars.

I would NOT recommend them for winter gloves. For now, I’ll stick with my ski gloves even though they are a bulky for use with reins, they’re warm!.

I like this gloves for hacking and barn chores. However, they are bulky. I fox hunted in these because I lost (okay, temporarily unaccounted for. !) one of my leather SSG winter gloves. It was a struggle at times with a fat braided fox hunting rein.

Had I been hunting on my other horse who hunts in a Weymouth, I don’t know if I could’ve handled two sets of reins with these. That being said, they were super warm and had great grip. I didn’t find the cuffs too short as some have mentioned.

Depends on preference. I do not recommend these gloves for serious schooling or hunting, unless you have really narrownreins and don’t mind feeling desentizied to the slightest feelings that come through the reins.

I love the hand warmer pocket feature!.

I bought these for my wife along with a few different pairs of mittens to try out for the coldest ski/snowboard days. These easily have the most features, are very warm, and have the same/similar use as her standard Burton Gore-Tex Mitts.

These are nicer in just about every way than the other options I provided her, but she wasn’t a fan of the difference in feel with the bulk of insulation at the back of the hand (which is meant to provide low bulk in the palm for greater dexterity).

These also fit tighter than her standard Gore-Tex Mitts in the same size (Medium). Personally, I would have chosen these mittens due to the nicer leather palm, touchscreen interface, hand-warmer/vent pocket, and the adjustable wrist tether, not to mention the nicer color.

I’d be interested to see how the suede wipe on the thumb fares versus the typical/older type of material used that deteriorates over a few seasons. She instead chose the Gordini Haven Mitt, which I have reviewed separately, and could possibly be warmer, but lack some of the features of these mitts.

For comparison purposes, the length was similar to the Gordini Haven Large, but back of hand fit was more like the Gordini Haven Medium. Also, the fit is slightly longer than the Dakine Leather Sequoia.

These gloves were given to me as a present, they were advertised as ” the warmest gloves”. I ski in California, so it’s not as cold as other areas. The day was 20 degrees, and my hands were warm for only the first two runs.

My fingers were very cold, and as the gloves were tight on my hands, I wasn’t able to use my glove liners. These gloves will be fine for spring days, but I’m disappointed and will have to go back to my old torn gloves for the cold days.

Amazing mittens. Wore them today with temps right around freezing and my hands got too warm some of the time (mostly due to helping my kids learn to ski, riding and lifts were fine). Definitely never got cold.

Has all the necessary features and high quality you would expect from Burton. Zero complaints and would definitely buy again.

These are really nice gloves. I specifically wanted gloves that had a way to get my fingers out quick when I need to do something that requires more dexterity without having to take gloves off. I have not tested out in very cold weather but they feel super warm.

The inside lining is very soft and the leather on the outside seems to be very good quality. I got a small and my hand measures 7. 5″ in length and 8″ in circumference. They fit perfect.

These gloves are AMAZING! I bought them for hikes in the rain and cold. Sooo warm and the zipper is so easy and waterproof too! I kept unzipping to takes pictures of my dog and it was so easy and convenient.

Very well made and not stiff like so many gloves are. I feel lucky to have found them. So great that I bought a pair for my son and his wife and my husband! Worth the money and the last pair you’ll ever need to buy.

They are grippy, warm and fit well. Warmer than most regular work gloves you find yet very comfortable. Not so thick and stubby to completely lose dexterity – can turn wrenches or ratchets just fine, picking up small parts is a bit cumbersome but not too bad.

Would totally get another set for around the house snow duties.

I love theses gloves, they keep my hands SO warm. The cuff is the perfect length to not get caught up in your jacket but to also keep snow out. Goggle wipe works great. Just be cautious, they keep your hands VERY warm.

Would buy again for sure, warm, dry, comfortable… waiting to see how durable but seem solid so far

In my 38 years of boarding I’ve worn through my fair share of gloves/mitts. I’ve never been a big mitt fan due to always having to remove a mitt to open a pocket, latch a binding, etc, for the last 20 years I’ve been using a several pairs of the BD Guide gloves but recently wanted to get a pair of under sleeve gloves.

In recent years I’ve seen the popularity of fingered/lobster style mitts and have always wanted to try a pair and when I seen that BD had a pair I had to try them. First off they are very comfortable with great mobility, the leather is very soft and broken in, initially I thought the Velcro closure would be an issue but I really ended up liking it.

I ride in the PNW so the temps aren’t really cold so as far as temp my hands stayed warm, but as others have mentioned they run a little big so a thin liner could fit. Being able to buckle into my bindings, clip my helmet or close a zipper with mitten warmth is great.

I haven’t had them in wet conditions yet so not sure about the water repelling ability, worst case I’ll just toss them in the oven for a couple minutes and coat with SnoSeal like my KINCO’s I liked them so much I ordered a second pair and at $90 I couldn’t resist.

I am an alpine ski coach who is tough on my mittens and gloves. After 4 years of use it is time to think about gettin new spark mitts. Excellent durability and the dexterity is amazing! I can set a course and operate a drill even in the mittens.

The mittens feel thin yet some how manage to be deceptively warm. For the coldest and stormy days, I use a hand warmer in the mitt or use a thick warm mitten with a liner. But the Spark mitt is my day-to-day go to mitten.

It is my first mitten with a neoprene cuff compared to a longer wrist gauntlet over the jacket. I actually think the neoprene cuff contributes significantly to the warmth by insulating your wrist and trapping the warmth in the mitt.

and powder never gets in even after an epic crash in powder.

I work as a patroller. They’re my go-to work glove. And I love them for ice climbing too. Probably have at least 5-6 various pairs of these over the years. I have the mens and womens in different sizes depending on the colors that year lol.

I get bored with black and so many of my coworkers wear these too that the colors are key. The mens small and womens medium feel the same to me. For work with taking them on and off so much, I just cut off the Velcro straps cause it’s unnecessary.

Only downside is how tight it is to get on sometimes especially with wet hands. Seems unnecessarily small and like that would have been loosened a bit after all these years. Seems like enough people complain about that? these aren’t for the coldest days.

for average days these are great. I like the Guide glove for the coldest days. Spring days I switch to a lighter glove than the spark.

These are a good balance of warmth and comfort. They’re not nearly as bulky as a lot of winter gloves but are definitely bulkier than the SSG Soft-Touch Silk-Lined gloves (although definitely warmer too).

I’ve ridden in these in temperatures around freezing and lower wind chill, and my hands never felt cold. If you often ride in temperatures around freezing (28-35 degrees), these are perfect; however, if the freezing days are rare and your rides are typically a little warmer (35-45 degrees), go with the SSG Soft-Touch Silk-Lined for less bulk while riding.

(Note: I only wear these gloves riding; I have lined leather work gloves for working in the barn. If you need gloves that will do double duty equally well, I would recommend getting a pair of those, even though they’re pretty bulky for riding.

Excellent quality. These gloves are very comfortable and true to size tho they are a bit roomy in the palm area and top of hand. I like a tighter fitting glove. However instead of using them with the horses I will use them for driving my car when the weather gets a little cooler they will work perfect for that for me.

These are truly warm bc they have fleece throughout, except where they velcro at back of hand: that’s the cold spot, but put a hand-warmer pack there & it’s fixed, if you are out in colder than freezing.

They are perfectly cozy for me in Southern Oregon winter. The only caution is the SIZE! I would probably go up one size from my usual SSG size bc of the fat lining bc my fingers cannot bend completely to my palms in them due to the bulk.

Think maybe next size up might allow more freedom in fingers. They are not waterproof, BTW.
