20 Best Gloves For Snowboarding (2022 Updated)

I used these gloves for around 70 ski days now and often temperatures as low as -25 Celsius and I have to say they held up really nicely. I never felt cold in them except around -30 or -25 with really strong winds or you touch metal for a long rime in those temperatures which you shouldn’t do anyway.

they are perfect in the temperature range of -25 to -5/0 Celsius, above that they tend to be to warm and you start to sweat even when you don’t do much. The one lesson with ski touring and gloves which I feel applies to these gloves specifically well is, you shouldn’t wear them on ascend when you know you will sweat a lot.

Wool just doesn’t handle sweat well. But the fact that you can take them apart is a lifesaver for the next day. They get quite soft and more comfortable after a while which is nice and the finger control feeling is in my opinion really good considering the size of the glove.

Durability and protection is for a skier so far really good. I had a couple of tree hugging and branch slaps encounters with them and the hands were never the problem afterwards. They feel a bit more skier oriented in protection because all the protective parts are on the backhand of the glove but I could be wrong.

After 70 days of skiing they don’t seem the have picked up to much damage and I suppose I can use them easily for another 70 days without any serious damage or wear and tear. I wax them around all two weeks (when in use) and my tip would be to wax them quite carefully and precisely.

You don’t want the wax in the stitches. I suppose you don’t really have to wax them but I like to do it anyway for that little softer feeling. The thing on the middle finger to connect them to my backpack is the only criticism I have, but first I want to say it works just fine and thank you to the designer who put it on the middle- and not the Ringfinger (much better choice).

However it frays and it started doing that quite early on (which you can cut off but still it’s annoying).

TL;DR: Ultra durable/Ultra warm. and BD makes em large enough for us odd folk Finally a brand who makes a durable and WARM five finger glove for those of us with stupidly large hands. Just bought these in black-XXL and they’re fantastic.

I have very large palms and relatively regular length fingers. These fit perfectly, the quality is incredibly nice, and the way the liner interfaces with the shell is stellar (velcro all the way around the wrist section in a loop).

I’ve been researching across OR/Hestra/BD/etc for a YEAR trying to find something that fits well and allows high alpine warmth for winter 14ers and hunting in Colorado. Thankfully I found these. If your hands exceed XXL, you’ll have to look to Hestra who offers HUGE gloves, but I can say that Black Diamond’s XXL runs true to size and offers an ultra warm, ultra durable glove with a great liner design and a great cuff design.

Last 3″ of cuffs are NOT insulated, keeping them nice and thin for under-sleeve applications. The insulation is primarily provided by the liner, which extends down to 2″ below wrist. Entire cuff probably 5″ below wrist.

The goggle wipe area is oversized and nice. The pull off middle finger loops are nice too. This is a very well made product that should last many years. Thank you BD for a stellar high-warmth option!.

This is my warmest pair of finger gloves. I have skied with these on -20F days and lower. Several toes got minor frostbite on those days, despite heated socks and ski boots, but my fingers did not. I’d say that merits a good review for warmth.

Mittens are always warmer, but you obviously loose dexterity. These gloves are beefy. The leather outer takes a lot of damage, and doesn’t show it. You can get handsy with rock and ice, and the gloves are fine.

The harsh temperatures haven’t worn out or weakened the leather, either. I’ve not been treating the leather on these gloves, or repairing them in any way. There hasn’t been a need yet. They just take whatever I throw at them.

I’ve climbed with these, and they are reasonably nimble for the bulk. Small, delicate movements are going to be hard, and bending so much insulation and leather will take effort, but you’ll be warm, and have usable fingers, so it’s not a loss in my book.

Small, ultra-light carabiners will become a pain, but cold hands are worse by a long-shot. Finally, they come in women’s sizes. It can be really, really difficult to find good gloves in women’s sizes.

Thanks, BD. One final note: you may want to be sure you have ample circulation to your hands when wearing these. Cinched wrists always carry a risk of reducing bloodflow, which in cold situations, can risk your digits.

I sized my gloves accordingly, and have not had any issues.

I purchased several pairs of Gore-Tex gloves from different brands to try for overall fit and features. Descriptions and (especially) reviews really help but it’s impossible to validate fit or feel without trying on.

I ordered large, and I’d say the outer gloves are true to that size. The inner gloves however aren’t really a sized match to the outer glove – quite small, tight, and difficult to even put on (so I am not using them).

I used the gloves for the first time last week to clear snow from my home, which included shoveling, snow-blowing, and driving a small garden tractor with plow which took several hours. This may not be the gloves’ designed purpose, but that’s what I use them for.

(I’ve never been able to find work gloves that are warm and actually useable in any practical sense. ) I was very pleased with them from the waterproofing aspect. At no time did any water penetrate the gloves, which probably enabled me to work a longer stint than otherwise.

Not too long after beginning work the last joint of my fingers began to feel cold and never really warmed up – in fairness the outside temperature was in the single digits. Other than that, these Burton Men’s Deluxe GTX Glove these gloves did mostly keep my hands and fingers warm.

I’m sure the fact that these gloves kept my hands totally dry is the reason my fingers and hands remained fairly comfortable. I’m no glove expert, but I suspect that any 5 finger glove (not mitten) that would keep fingertips warm would be too bulky to hold or manipulate a tool or handle.

Overall, I really like these gloves. They’re well constructed, and while clearly not as tough as true work gloves, the materials are not delicate or designed solely for appearance. Another thing I really liked was not just that they fit, but how they fit – from both the inside and outside if that makes any sense to you.

In comparison, a couple of other brands seemed to be very puffy/spongey inside the glove, I felt that each finger was not so much insulated as sliding into a “tube” of foam or other material that felt very unnatural to me.

It’s possible these would have been even warmer, but I’d never have been able to grip a tool (or ski pole!). So, after too much information, I’d like to give these Burton gloves a thumbs up. I’d buy them again.

There are warmer mittens on the market. At the same time I am very happy that I have found these, it took several years for me to find the right mittens and they are Burton Deluxe GORE-TEX. My hands are always cold and I always wear warmer gloves or mittens than other people around.

But the problem with warmer mittens is that my hands get sweaty, gloves get wet and hands get cold. And these ones turned out to be perfect! I wear them (for skiing in the East) between 0 and 20F without liner gloves and feel great, and with the included liner gloves below 0F.

The liner gloves are handy for taking phone pictures even at -15F (I didn’t have a chance to use them at even colder temperatures). For temperatures above 20F the this mittens are overkill. Did I mention that the price is VERY attractive? Recommended!.

The idea of having “two in one” sounded too tempting not to order these, while on sale. Unfortunately, while the outer gloves are very nice and true to size, the inner liner gloves are way too small for me to even get them on and as such, completely useless.

If I were to size up, I’d probably get well-fitting liners but the outer gloves would definitely be too big. Also, I think the materials used for the outer gloves could be better, the leather used for lining the palms is definitely a notch or two lower grade than similar other products in this price range.

Obviously, if these fit you well and you get them at a discount, they are a good value – warm, waterproof, work with touch screens and give you the flexibility of having three options for wear. Sadly, since I can’t even fit my hands in the liner gloves, I will have to return.

This is my third pair of Oakley Trigger Mittens. They are warm and versatile. While skiing, I literally wore my other ones out. These are not typical mittens where the fingers can touch each other. Each finger has it’s own warm sleeve inside the mitten.

The only con that I find is that the opening can be a little tight to get your hand in, but it is a minor point.

I bought a pair of these a few weeks ago in Rye color. I loved them so much I just ordered a second pair for my partner. These gloves are great! You get the warmth of a mitten with dexterity of a glove.

We are both skiers and poles can be a bit cumbersome with mittens but gloves sometimes don’t provide enough warmth when the snow is flying. I have used mine a couple of weekends now and love them! They’re not quite as warm than my Volcom gortex mittens but plenty warm with some Burton liners thrown in.

I haven’t had too much luck with the digital fingers but the gloves are still great! Great looking “glittens!” Would recommend!.

Our now 9 year old son used these mitts last season for snowboarding (and only snowboarding). He typically runs hot so the fact that they have considerably less insulation compared to the competition did not really phase us.

Until that is. It gets below -15°C. The mitts perform as advertised. They keep hands dry and relatively warm (as was the case when using them for spring riding) and on days when it was warmer than -15°C.

If you are looking for a toasty mitt. Perhaps consider shopping for something else. If you have an active kid who typically runs hot / need a waterproof mitt for spring riding or venture out west. Then these are your mitts.

As an FYI, we ended up buying the 2020 model in black and sent them back. The loft in the microfiber lining just felt too thin (similar to his packed out ones from last season). We opted for the more expensive leather Kombi Gore-Tex mitt (more robust and a lot warmer).

The best! These are actually my second pair. After my first pair was stolen, I knew I wanted the same mittens again. They are super warm, the lining allows you to adjust the comfort level depending on the temperature, and of course, GORE-TEX keeps your hands dry.

Also, the little pocket allows space for hand warmers if necessary, they are easily adjustable, they come on and off easy as well, and the safety strap is a life saver on the lifts. A great product!.

Bought this glove last spring on a sale and was super excited to get some snow this year and test it out! I bought this glove as a ski touring glove for moderate days in the 20s when you’re building up heat going uphill and need something warm enough for the downs.

PRO’S -Fashionable. Leather looks great! -Comfortable. The fleece inside is very soft and comfy. -Might be waterproof? Haven’t tested this, and probably never will. CON’S -Not warm. These glove keep my hands nice and warm down to about 40F, maybe 45F.

Below that, as thick as they are, with fleece and leather, they are just not warm. I have a cheap crappy $10 pair of Costco waterproof tech-friendly gloves that are notably warmer, if less comfy and less durable.

-Touch screen tech is iffy at best. You have to mash your entire finger pad on the screen to get them to work. No finger tips or thumb tips and no precision, and mine stored working below 30F, though that might be that I tested it below 30F before I figured out that I had to mash my whole finger flat down.

Summary: great driving gloves or city gloves. Sub par for any actual outdoor activity. Bummer.

Size chart was accurate for me, the width of my hand was on the upper end of the range and still fits well. If you have longer fingers, I would suggest going up a size. It’s a very warm glove but feel a bit clumsy wearing it.

It’s kind of stiff but hopefully will soften over time. It’s not going to be as warm as Burton’s Oven Mitts but this glove will be better for daily use.

I’ve had this for a few weeks and have worn them 4-5 times so far. As always with Burton, the quality is great. Very soft and flexible leather, good clips and size zippers for easy removal, and stitching is great.

My only complaint is that for the size, they were a little roomy for me. I usually buy a medium in Burton gloves and they fit perfectly, where these are just slightly roomy so I can’t do some little things with my fingers like I can with a more snugly fitting glove.

But overall I can’t complain, these are great quality gloves!.

I got these yesterday and as soon as I got them I went outside to shovel the snow to try them out. My hands were nice and warm but it wasn’t very cold out, only -8 and there was no wind. These gloves are nice and seem very well made and durable.

I bought these for snowboarding but also because I wanted gloves with shorter cuffs because the ones I was using before have longer wider cuffs and I couldn’t get the sleeves of my daily jacket over the cuffs of the gloves unless I put my gloves on before putting on my jacket, which is really annoying if you ever need to take a glove off for whatever reason.

I had no problem getting the sleeves over the cuffs of these gloves but there is a problem with the cuffs being this short. Because they are this short the cuffs rub a lot on your wrists (a little above the wrists) and it is very irritating on your skin.

It gives you that rug burn feeling. I shoveled the snow about 12 hours ago and the skin around my wrist still feels very irritated. While these gloves are nice and warm and look good, had I bought them from a store which allowed returns I would probably return them because of how they irritate the skin around your wrists.

The only way I could seeing being able to use these without irritation is if you wear a long sleeve shirt or a thermal under your jacket and stuff the sleeve under the cuffs of the gloves to keep them from rubbing on your skin so much.

These mittens are good, albeit not very well suited to the PNW, where I snowboard. They’ve held up really well, considering the abuse I’ve put them through. They’re extraordinarily warm. Sometimes juuuust a bit to warm, sometimes causing my hands to get sweaty, which is also a result of them not being very breathable.

In wetter conditions you will get wet, after enough times falling and planting your hands in the snow. The removeable touchscreen-compatible liners are great, stopping your hands from getting too cold when you briefly remove the mittens to unzip your pockets or switch up your tunes.

You can also remove them and dry them out, as they absorb most of the sweat from your hands. Overall, I think they’re well suited to drier conditions, keep in mind these aren’t leather or Gore-Tex, so you will get wet eventually.

They are well made, they haven’t fallen apart yet, and I like the little touches like the soft backside of the thumb for wiping your nose, and the goggle wipe on the other thumb.

Very nice set of gloves. I like the fact that they come with a removable liner glove, and that the liner is touchscreen compatible on the index finger and thumb. It would be nice if the inner liner actually attached to the outer glove with velcro at the cuff or by some other means, the way my older REI gloves did.

With these gloves it is difficult to keep the liner and glove together and most times you end up removing the glove and liner separately. The hand warmer pocket is a nice feature my other gloves do not have.

The little squeegee on the thumb to wipe goggles might be useful if you have the large frameless goggles, but I found it essentially useless on smaller goggles with a plastic frame. They do seem waterproof and windproof and well made.

They are relatively warm as well. I was hoping they would be warmer than my previous ski gloves, but they are about the same, and my fingers did occasionally feel a bit cold on the lifts in high-teens, low-20s temperatures.

A stark reminder of why since middle school, I ditched burton products and have never looked back. I got these mitts because they are “gore-tex” and look kind of dope. The color way I chose really matched my kit so form and function, why not? I’ll just start by saying, on a cold day with some snow, or a clear blue jay, any glove should perform well despite the material.

They should be waterproof and warm. These mitts did that. I only used these gloves maybe 3 times when I began to notice the cloth or non goretex portion part begin to get wet. That’s fine , the inside never got wet and my hands stayed warm.

Fast forward to yesterday on a pretty wet day, when it was raining a little bit with some snow (not dumping rain) and the snow was pretty wet and heavy, these things got SOAKED. Literally sponge-tex gloves just soaking water in all the way through if my hand even so much as touched some heavy- wet stuff.

Do yourself a favor, if you live in the PNW where these kinds of days happen often and like having dry hands, shell out a little more and get a better brand.

Wanted a claw-grip mitt for dexterity. These are exactly what I was looking for. Keep in mind they fit a little more snug compared to “normal” mittens. If you like to wear gloves under a mitt, these likely won’t work.

I had to go one size up for a proper fit, too. This is par for the course with AK, though: Burton seems to have weird sizing with this line. My AK pants and shell jacket are both a size smaller than my other Burton gear, for example.

Be sure to try before you buy!.

I have warm hands, the AK tech glove is my go to in Montana. I like the dexterity of a minimal glove for zippers and such as well. I got the AK clutch glove for really cold days. Used theme one day so far this season, good glove.

I noticed my pinky got bunched up in the liner while putting the glove on a few times. Maybe that will go away when broken in.

I ordered a large mitten. I could barely get my hand into it. This is sized like it is made for and designed by Chinese manufacturers. The same with their clothing lines. The only things that actually fit as they are sized are the winter outer garments.

Really disappointed that a brand this high-end (read: expensive) cannot properly fit to their customer base – Americans. Other things about these expensive mittens that could use improvement: 1. Safety straps to secure to wrist 2.

Include inner glove; especially for non-gortex Also really disappointed to not be able to locate the same color mitten or glove as current colors (I got the blue bibs and snowboarding gortex jacket).

I like the fit, warmth, and quality. I’m normally a large but I decided to use there sizing chart and went with a medium and they fit with just the right amount of room still. I also own a couple other leather gor-tex gloves and they are all around the same price point.

These surpass my expectations with 5 new pairs of gloves this year these and my 686 gloves felt like the best build. quicksilver t. rice being the least favorite in the quality build. Nice work volcom I feel my whole closet shifting to your brand for snowboarding.

Super comfortable gloves with a great retro look. Look amazing and keep your hands warm all day. The stitching was poor and on the sides were the Volcom stone logo is the gloves stitching got loose preventing them to bulk out and become loose.

Went with a size medium and they run big as when fully tightened they do not secure my hand. Stictching was also coming apart in the middle overall I would recommended these for the comfort and looks but go with a smallish.

I’m pretty fussy about my ski-gloves and like these very much. Wish I knew more about their materials and construction as will be putting them through their paces skiing this season in icy cold, sleet and sunshine.

Sizing is a bit large, compared to my other medium gloves but feel confident that I can slip in a liner for very cold days and can deal with slightly looser gloves for warmer weather. I just hope that they resist moisture.

I like the construction of the men’s gloves a bit better as they have quite a long cuff proportionately. At this price though, everyone gets a pair under the tree. I wish there was a category between pretty good and impeccable because they are very good for now,.

I got these gloves to replace an old pair ahead of a ski weekend. I really liked the style of the leather and the water repellence. However, the size of the gloves, especially the fingers, was extremely small.

The proportions are way off. It felt like the fingers were sized for a child. This made them quite uncomfortable to wear. If you purchase these gloves, I’d definitely recommend sizing up by one or two sizes.

These are very good gloves if your hands are warm and you don’t need to take them on and off in very cold weather. If you do take them on and off and the temperature is below 32 F then your hands will likely get a bit cold.

The gloves are very waterproof and nicely lined in fleece. I just live in a fairly cold climate and hoped they would be perfect for 30+ minutes of outdoor walking in below freezing temperatures. If you just need a good set of gloves for a few minutes outside though, these are awesome.

I’ve worn this hat many places this summer, and it’s great. It’s adjustable and has removable front and back flaps for greater sun protection. I stayed pretty cool while wearing this on hot days and appreciate the chin strap on windy days.

These are good gloves, but I thought they would be somewhat warmer. They serve their purpose, great for snow and cold weather.

I bought these for my mom. She absolutely loves them and said her favorite part about them is that they don’t get wet and keep her hands warm. Highly recommend!

I expected these gloves carry the latest strong and impact-resistant pvc rubbber material. Turned out they were from previous season where this technology wasn’t implemented yet. In other parts these are a pair of great gloves, the straps are very easy to adjust, nice fit.

Index finger apparently carries some material to allow touch screen usage. I tried that inside the room and sometimes couldn’t get it work, will have to check again when on the ride.

We live in Tennessee and due to the weather we need these gloves. They are very warm and comfortable and my husband loves the way you adjust them at the arm wrist.

I have fairly severe cold sensitivity in my fingertips and thumbs, although I have not been officially diagnosed with Raynaud’s. Tested the gloves in a number of backcountry, lift area, and side country settings and tried to be as objective as possible.

1) Not surprisingly, the efficiency of the heating elements is drastically reduced as wind and moisture increase, and as temperature decreases. Temps below about 20 degrees F drain the batteries within a few hours.

Wind, moisture, and low temps in combination quickly overwhelm tactile heat sensation from mittens on high setting). Not a deficiency, but this appears to be the limit of the technology, at least for the OR Lucent mitten/glove.

2) Heat from the elements at the distal edge of the mitten near the ring and little fingers feels perceptively weaker than toward the middle and index fingers. I frequently needed to wrap my hands in a ball to warm the ring and little fingers (on high setting) in temps below about 25 degrees F.

I believe there is more going on beyond circulation issues in my fingers. 3) Moisture soaks through the gloves in ice fog and riming situations, leading to dampness inside the gloves and substantially affecting the warming efficiency of the heating elements.

This happened while riding chairlifts, ruling out internal sweating as a cause. Other ski/mountaineering mitts I have do not soak through in this situation. 4) The on/off button turns on much too easily when the mittens are stowed inside a pack, despite best efforts to prevent that.

I even packed the mittens in different places inside the pack and in different positions to no avail. 5) After 5 weeks of use, the on/off switch on the right mitt malfunctioned completely and got stuck in the on position and wouldn’t turn off without disconnecting the battery.

I hope OR takes these comments to heart and seriously considers some significant design tweaks.

My hands get cold easily. But because I spend so much time outdoors, including in the winter, I thought I would finally splurge and get heated mitts. When I first turned them on, angels started singing.

But I’ve quickly come to learn that while these are still better than unheated mitts, they really don’t do nearly as much as I thought they would. Here’s the good: * These are impeccably tailored mitts.

Materials (Gore-Tex fabric and leather) and stitching are second-to-none, as you might expect for the price. They are waterproof, windproof and have a very soft lining. Definitely no pinching or rubbing, and fits my hands well even though they are long and slender.

There are also nice touches like touchscreen-compatible thumb, the elastic leash, the pull loop and the carry bag. I wouldn’t do heavy manual labor with them, but they do seem as though they would take a fair bit of rough use without being damaged.

* They have reasonably good flexibility for being such beefy mitts, and are breathable/wicking. However, they are still not great for fine hand movements, but that’s to be expected. * Not too flashy – just a combination of black materials, and only a small logo to indicate they are heated.

The clip and zipper do not seem to bind or get in the way. * Easy buttons to turn on and off, and read the current temperature. Only very occasionally have I accidentally bumped a button to modify the temperature, so they are okay at incidental knocks.

Here’s the bad: * If you’re looking for significant warmth, you’re not going to get it. The instructions warn to be careful about not overheating your hands. Good luck with that. Even on days between 25-30 degrees F, I’ve felt the need to keep it at the warmest setting (red) the entire time, which is cautioned against in the instructions as only being for the coldest days.

They say to use medium (yellow) or low (green) for most of the time, but my hands did not feel at all warm. Part of the issue is that the heating area is only on the back of the hand, so it relies on radiant heat to reach the palm and fronts of the fingers.

Probably to prevent damage to the heating elements by gripping and pushing on objects, but it is noticeable where there is no heat. * The batteries do not last that long. On cold days, you may not get a full day of heat on medium (and certainly not on high).

The packaging states in multiple places that it needs recharging every 3-6 months as though that’s some sort of indication of heating capability. Don’t be fooled, these need constant charging and attention, which is stated in small print in the instructions: charge after EVERY USE.

The batteries are also uniquely shaped and wired, and are a bit challenging to pack back into the inner cuff of the mitts without significantly bending the internal connectors. I do worry a bit about long-term durability, but they have an “infinite guarantee” (i.

e. , forever) so I guess I’ll see if I ever need to use it. * There is no nose wipe on the glove. Probably because it would be hard to clean, but still feels like an omission. Here’s my conclusion: These truly do provide some benefit on cold days.

But I need to always make sure they are charged, and expect for them to only last half a day at most for how I use them (low intensity outdoor stuff). If you’re out adventuring, you may find them to be quite warm.

I don’t regret the purchase, but do not believe that they are worth the price for what they provide. However, they are guaranteed to last a very long time, so I’m going to certainly put that to the test.

I bought 4 pairs of these gloves hoping I would have the ultimate mountain glove for my family. I’ve been buying OR gear since the early nineties. The sold me on their rock solid guarantee and excellent construction, i still have a Goretex shell hat that is built like a tank and over 25 years old.

That brand loyalty lead me to hope these would be great. They are not. The construction quality is not great, two of the 4 pairs are failing (zipper has failed on one and the other the glove construction has just torn apart).

These are not warm gloves, and they will not keep you warm in the rated temperatures. The battery on the lowest setting does nothing, on medium or high it does something, but not a whole lot in cold weather and the battery is gone very quickly at high levels – it’s a lot of work for no gain in the weather you need it.

The glove cuffs are quite short so they let in a lot of cold air and can’t properly overlap a jacket. The batteries don’t last nearly long enough. They don’t have leather in the high wear places so if you’re doing anything active and are holding things with them expect them to get damaged real fast.

Given the cost I expected a lot. I bought these as a big and expensive Christmas gift, we’ve barely used them for a month in the cold weather they were designed for and now the return policy is past (no extensions for gifts apparently).

We’ll see if OR customer service stands up to the reputation they had before, will update when I hear back. I also have bought multiple pairs of their full goretex alti mitts – these despite being not heated (and honestly not up to their old construction quality) are much warmer and a better bet.

Had high hopes that the price point would prove worth it. They are well made, great zip feature and stylish. However on first outing with these gloves my hands very quickly became freezing. They do not provide any warmth at just under Zero degrees.

A pair of £5 fleece gloves were warmer Not sure what weather conditions these are any good for aside mild wet conditions in Spring or Autumn. Disappointing and very overpriced for what they offer. Suspect because real leather but that is where I felt the cold immediately.

At last, some gloves that fit my son. We have tried countless brands, which all seem to have really long fingers , but these ones fit perfectly. The cuff is really comfortable, and my son can tighten the wrist up as required with the velcro strap, which is a nice touch.

They keep his hands nice and warm.

Looking for replacements everywhere, line these gloves soo much, can’t wait to use them all season! Really appreciate you guys finding these!!!
