20 Best Gloves For Snowmobiling (2022 Updated)

Well I usually don’t write many negative reviews unless the purchase is really useless! I bought this hoping to be able to use it in Toronto’s winter. It is bulky (and I have relatively big hands as a woman), the material is stiff, so the touchscreen fingers isn’t flexible enough to be working properly.

It is NOT windproof at all, I almost got frostbite in -10 centigrade. It is NOT warm at all, you definitely need a base layer gloves to keep your hand warm. It is only probably humidity-resistent, and thus definitely only can be used in snowboarding skiing with a base layer.

Not an everyday gloves!.

I have been looking for ‘spring-gloves’ like these for nearly 10 years. They do fit a bit snug, I had to go with size XL, when I normally wear a size L. But they are surprisingly warm for how thin they are.

Nice shape, and reasonable water resistance. If you are riding hard on a wet day, they will get moisture build up inside, but that is normal. Even when damp inside, they still had some warming affect.

(Note, I used them a a ‘spring’ like day with misty rain on and off, with temps around 35 to 40 F. So in colder temps, or windy conditions, your results may vary. ) But so far, I am delighted by these gloves.

Incredibly comfortable and warm, and very low profile and don’t restrict movement(I hate bulky gloves except on frigid days). Lost a star because they fit a little small in comparison to other brands of gloves I have (Grenaid, The North Face, Dakine) but hopefully will stretch and relax over time.

In retrospect, should have went with 2XL, but these aren’t so tight as to bother with returning/exchanging them. Overall, these are my favourite gloves I’ve ever owned, and the lost star is owing to the sizing.

I can’t tell you how many gloves I have gone through looking for something totally waterproof, somewhat warm and with enough dexterity to live with. These so far are the best program going. Excellent seam quality and build.

Gets cold here in northern AZ and feeding horses in wet conditions and handling damp hay is a nightmare with frozen wet hands! I wear a size 9 glove and the large in this glove is a bit too tight especially going on, so got xl and its better but note they are somewhat snug getting the cuff over your hands.

Also if you store them outside say in a hay barn they will feel damp inside when very cold even tho they are not. So would store in warm area if you care about that. Going to purchase several more for back up.

Used these duck hunting on a snowy day in Wyoming. They kept my hands dry and fairly warm. Good grip, even when wet. We’ll see how they hold up over time and with ice fishing, but so far I’m happy with the purchase.

I have a long driveway on a steep hill so I have to salt a lot to keep things from becoming too interesting. These gloves fit great. Some say they run a bit small but I got a size L and I felt they were perfect with a little extra at the finger tips.

The neoprene is perfect for spreading salt. It protects my hands from the material. There is excellent dexterity. They are warm but not exceptional so maybe not a good choice for long term exposure. I see a lot of comments about not being waterproof.

I think what people are experiencing is the Neoprene material. Their hands are sweating and the Neoprene just does not breath. My mini experiment about this is that the gloves are still wet inside 1-2 days after I have used them.

I have to bring them inside and put them on my boot dryer for a few hours to dry out the inside. Another test would be to pour some water inside and see if they leak. Very happy with these gloves. Will get another pair.

I purchased these primarily for cool and cold weather fishing on local rivers. They definitely keep my hands warm and the pre-bent fingers help relieve fatigue. One thing to remember is these gloves are not designed for extended immersion in water.

They have slits in the thumb and forefinger to allow for tying on lures or leaders. This makes them handy but the slits will allow water to enter the glove if you keep them immersed for extended periods of time.

There was an usually late striped bass (surf) run this past November. The is the third pair of Glacier Gloves that I have owned. The air temperature on some days was in the low 20’s and the gloves kept my hands warm even after plunging my hands into the surf water to retrieve or release a bass.

The finger slits are a plus for casting. However the Velcro finger tieback needs to be modified. Mnay times the Velcro did not hold the fingers in the open position. However this is a minor problem. I also like the length of the glove that covers the wrist area.

Another bonus is the extra grip the glove provides while handling slippery fish. I would recommend this brand of gloves for cold water fishing.

I bought these for Chesapeake bay striped bass, trout, and tautog fishing as well as snow. They are very well insulated, waterproof and t he y have fold up thumbs and pointer fingers to put bait on hooks( in my case gulp and soft plastics on jigheads) and I will use them for cold water kayaking too, as they have plenty of dexterity.

These gloves feel and look great! They do NOT keep your hand warm. My finger tips froze and fit perfect. Do not wear if your snowmobiling unless you want frozen hands!

Well after receiving these in a timely manner i have had some time to put them through there paces. Pros: Warm, Great fit, Good Materials Cons: I don’t think that these were assembled very well. The cord end locks fell off after an hours use.

The rest of the glove performance seems great although I question the waterproof of the glove. Riding in slightly wet condition they seemed a bit wet inside. Not to bad and that may have been just sweat building up and i will have to further test that.

Overall it’s a great glove for the price. Shipping and customer service was good.

Light duty very warm gloves. They are not made for working like a leather palm provides and would ware out quickly if that is what one wants to do with them. Very bulky which is why they work so well in the cold yet compress to give good feel of small things like flash light buttons.

The draw strings can get caught yet work well. I recommend drawing them tight where you want them then cut and tie the strings shorter.

I don’t have a snowmobile however, I use these gloves while plowing snow on my tractor for several hours. These gloves kept my hands nice and warm as well as dry. These gloves do run a little small so make sure to order larger sizes.

Bought a pair of FXR gloves for my Grandson for Xmas. They ended up being to small. Did the free return and ordered a different size. They came quickly without any hassle. Grandson loves them.

Don’t buy these if you’re hoping they’ll keep your fingers warm. Cause they don’t. Was really hoping these would solve my cold fingers issues. But even walking to the end of the road in 6° temps for 10 minutes, they didn’t hold up.

The gloves are great! They have slits for fingers inside the mitt. They are made quite small. I ordered a large and they fit well.

Have only used these gloves once so far for about 4 hours at 10 degrees and less while snowmobiling. My hands stayed warm the entire time. They seem to be well constructed also.

My daughter referred me to FRDM when I needed new gloves. She does work in very cold & challenging environments, and that the FRDM gloves were perfect. Even better the customer service was incredible.

She was exactly correct. I love the gloves & mittens. I requested normal shipment to where I was going on a ski vacation. The owner of FRDM upgraded shipment to 1 day at no cost to me because she wanted to be sure I had them.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He hasn’t used them yet but said they were very comfortable & much warmer than his other ski gloves. He’s excited to put these to use in the upcoming months.

I’ve been a fan of FRDM since their kickstarter. These gloves have kicked it up a notch or two. Super warm & easy to use, with great protection from the elements. I’ve had my first pair for a few years now, those are still going strong, these are my go to for colder wet days.

After much research I bit the bullet and spent the $200 on a good pair of trail riding gloves for snowmobiling. On the first day – my fingers froze – all of them. It was so bad, I had to curl up my fingers into a fist and steer the sled that way for three hours.

I had my handwarmers on max and yes, they were working fine. Temperature was about -10 Celcius. Tried to return to FortNine, my request was denied because I wore them for two hours. They told me to go to Klim and make a warranty claim.

Haven’t heard back and I highyl dooubt that Klim will honor a “these gloves are garbage” warranty claim. In the end, I used a $40. 00 pair of gloves that were 10 times better. Don’t waste your money on this crap.

These glove fit really well, and I like how they have a cord on the back to tighten them down. But even with the liners on a chilly 28 degree day my hands started going numb. I love these gloves without the liner as they work well and are not super thick, I am considering getting heated liners since the liners are removable.

I have not ridden with them in the rain yet, I’ll have to update my post once I do.

These gloves are great with hand warmers running but are too cold below -5C without. Maybe if you have hand guards you can get to a lower temp. They seem really durable, have good grip and easy to get on and off.

The insert adds warmth for sure but the fleece gets wet and then cold. They would have been better with a moisture wicking liner.

I ride a side by side in winter and my hands on the steering wheel are exposed to the elements. These FXR Heated Recon gloves are super warm even without the heat turned on. At -20C I normally only need the heat set on low and my fingers, thumb and top of hands were comfortable.

Only negative aspect is that on the lowest setting, the batteries only last 5 hours. I normally ride for 8 hours during a ride. Need to have extra batteries on hand (pun intended :-)).

Great short glove, works well with handlebar muffs. Keep hands warm and allows excellent dexterity to operate controls (throttle and brake). Easy to take on and off, do not pull inside out when removing.

Will likely get another pair for working around the house and in the truck.

This is pretty much the warmest you can get your hands on the motorcycle without active heating elements. Mittens always work better than gloves, and this has all the motorcycling features you want: water resistance, helmet wiper squeegee, and insulation at the right places.

Handling the controls is of course more difficult than in a lighweight pair of gloves, but still doable. Not sure about durability, as I’ve only used it a few times.

Rode in twenties 80mph. Hands warm thumbs got cold. They are bulky but you learn to use them. Below 36 f I use these gloves. Wish the thumb and tips of fingers had more insulation or wind cover. Very satisfied with these mittens.

Finally can feel my fingers.

I’ve tried other thermal gloves and liners, but my 45 min commute to work on mornings in the 30’s and below would have my fingers almost useless. Not only could I not feel with them my fingers would be burning.

Well, now that I’ve got these mittens the problem is solved. They are a little clumsy at present , but I feel like that will get better as they break in. I would recommend these mittens, and I actually have been recommending them to my riding friends.

I purchased these after returning a different style of KLIM. ABSOLUTELY the WORST gloves I have ever purchased. I’ve tried them out 3 times now (and of course I can’t return them!) and each and every time my fingers literally turn WHITE within half an hour.

Think seriously if you spend $140. 00 for a pair of useless gloves!!! Guess I’ll look for a BETTER BRAND.

I go through a lot of winter gloves doing barn chores. They are worked in daily and so far are holding up well, I only marked them as a small fit because they said unisex so I got a size down and they are Womens so they were a little snug at first but are better now broken in.

I don’t like spending a lot of money on barn gloves because spending more doesn’t seem to make them last longer, but I would absolutely buy more of these. Inexpensive, durable (so far), dexterity is good as far as a winter glove goes.

I bought a large because I have pretty big hands but the fingers turned out to be pretty long which makes me kind of crazy when I’m trying to do something. I am usually a Large or 7 in women’s size. They are fleece lined so hay gets caught up in them easily.

They’ll do for now. My gloves usually don’t last more than a few months so I won’t be stuck with them long.

I wear a size 5 ring so thinking the glove could be for men or women, I ordered size small. Unfortunately, they are too tight and short on my hands. They also don’t feel like they would keep my hands warm while doing chores on a cold Michigan night.

Comfort: 1.

These mittens seem to check all the right boxes for deep winter snowboard adventures, however the thumbs are too tight! I tried 3 different pairs and each one had the same problem, particularly the right thumb for some reason.

Unfortunately the thumb was restricting circulation and it’s just too small. Check other reviews that say the same thing. Really wanted to make these work but I’m not willing to suffer freezing digits for a flawed design.

Would not recommend.

These mittens are similar to the Hestra Heli, of which I have had two sets over the years, but at less than half the cost. The exterior materials are nearly identical, the cuff is large, the insulation is similar, and they have an (albeit smaller) elastic wrist strap.

Hestra has the option of more exact sizing, while Dakine goes with the normal S,M,L, but for me that was not a huge negative. I would not say they are equal to the Hestra Heli, but they are very close.

This is a solid mitten, has good warmth and is waterproof. I would recommend it.

I was very disappointed in these gloves. I purchased the less expensive DAKINE men’s gloves for myself at the same time I purchased these for my son. After 8 days of Snowboarding mine were still preforming great.

With this model after 3 days of Snowboarding were showing excessive wear because the fabric that looks like leather is actually a cheap composite that breaks down faster then any glove I can remember buying.

Love DAKINE, still will buy their products but they really missed the mark with these gloves.

I have somewhat big hands, and ordered a medium (assumed it was in mens sizing). The thumb is a little long, but otherwise they fit great. I bought these for backcountry skiing and cold biking. So far I’ve used them biking in ~35-40 degree temps and they were very comfortable.

I was impressed by their touch screen capabilities. It was like using my bare finger. When I took them out of the box, I was surprised by the material, and that it was supposed to be waterproof. I still haven’t tested that, but so far they seem super durable.

They also have long ends that more than adequately cover your wrists. I’m looking forward to seeing how these do skiing, preventing snow from getting up my jacket. Edit since using in the snow: These are very waterproof! Great for warm weather skiing and convenient to throw in my pack as an afternoon glove after a cold morning start.

Being still summer I have yet to find out how effective the gloves are. However, I have some concerns with their fitting. I have wide palms with short fingers. I have no complaints as regards the glove finger being over long – that is my anatomy.

But this pair (the third pair I tried, this is the XL size) is still tight around the thumb and palm area. I suspect the manufacturer uses a slim hand as their model (do we in the UK have wider palms than the Chinese?).

I will keep the gloves anyway because pairs of fingers will be warmer than single fingers.

The overall quality of the gloves was very impressive but like other reviewers I found them a tight fit requiring a considerable amount of tugging to get them on. Fortunately the top quality stitching appears to be able to cope with this tugging.

I thought it strange for the gloves to be such a tight fit & to be supplied with a Velcro cuff strap (but what do I know). The cuff straps have no velcro free end tag so can be tricky to peel off with a gloved hand.

Once on, the fit, (as per recommendations) was good apart from the left hand thumb fit which was tight. The insulation was not really satisfactory for any sub zero temperatures, especially around my left thumb (both thumbs are similar in size).

Waterproof performance was good. I liked the length of the glove which prevented cold drafts around the upper wrist. Reviewer: 60+, all weather dog walker. PS. Advertised with union flag but made in China.

Ordered these gloves thinking they would work well in slightly cold weather. I have to say, I was completely surprised to find out they are much warmer than I expected. 8f you are looking for some cool/colder protection, order these.

Hands. move very freely in them, and they have gret grip as well.

the material used for these gloves is very sturdy, however I would not recommed these gloves because the size is very misleading. All my gloves are size L and they fit me pretty much the same regardless whether they are work gloves, dress gloves or skiing gloves.

I ordered these gloves L thinking that they might be slightly larger, but the reality is that these gloves are huge not only the finger length, but also volume. If you decide to buy them make sure you order one size smaller than your usual size.

Very good material, lousy fit.

I began using kinco gloves about 10yrs ago for snowboatding because that’s what the mountain patrol were using everyday. My hands stay nice and warm on the coldest day on the mountain. Not to mention the price point is perfect as well.

The 900max are more stylist and not as stiff and bluky without sacrificing warmth. I. Wouldn’t go out on the mountain without them. Thanks kinco.

They are indeed heavy duty, but awfully stiff. I went over several times with neat’s foot oil, but they’re still stiff. They do run large as other reviews stated. I usually buy XL, but I ordered L. The index and middle fingers are about right.

The ring finger is a little long, and my pinky comes about half-way up that finger of the glove.

Worn these a handful of times now, very well made and VERY warm gloves but a very snug fit for an XL. Live in MT, used these for a variety of outdoor tasks this year (not the coldest winter we’ve ever had yet) and these gloves are very warm.

Good dexterity in the hand, rugged materials so far but the issue I have is sizing. I have several First Lite gloves (Talus fingerless and full finger merino, Aerowool liner gloves, Alpine gloves, Softshell Shooting glove 2.

0 which isn’t currently offered at this time) and I’ve had some issues with sizing. I’ve got fairly large hands and use an XL in almost everything, but I’ve been able to manage with a Large in the fingerless wool gloves fairly well.

The XL Softshell shooting gloves were a bit on the larger side all around, but the slight extra room allow for a slim liner glove in colder temps which is fine with me. The XL in these gloves fits my hand/fingers very well, but the wrist/zip portion is made for a person with body dimensions like Ryan Callahan or Steve Rinella (ie thinner folks with less forearm size).

I’m fairly well built (6′ 285lb, wear a 2xl in the Corrugate guide pants and pretty much all my First Lite tops/jackets) but I can’t really get these zippers closed all the way over anything more than bare skin.

If I’m wearing any kind of long sleeves, which I would definitely be wearing if it’s cold enough to use these gloves, my only option is to pull the sleeves down over the top of the glove. I can’t close the glove zipper over any additional clothing but a thin base layer, certainly not over a coat of any kind.

Overall, a very well made and very warm glove but it seems like they made an XL glove with a Medium cuff. Need more room in the forearm to fit me.

Used for 3 seasons now. The Good: Fairly durable thus far and are warm enough for a broad range of temperatures (20-45) encountered from Sept-Oct. Comfortable and easy to put on/take off. The Bad: NOT WATERPROOF.

DWR was lost during first season and does not retain waterproofing even after re-treatment. Do not use these gloves if expecting wet conditions! Glove fitment is too large for 2/3 of my rifle trigger guards.

The Ugly: Despite the description, these are not a true winter season piece of kit. You better have handwarmers or continue moving because they are not warm enough for glassing or even still-hunting low level output in sub 20 degree weather.

If you are expecting anything close to zero-degree temps, these gloves will not perform as needed.

The gloves are alright. They fit fine and are surprisingly warm for as light weight as they are. However the stitching on the left hand glove started pulling out at the wrist, and the sewing on the right hand pointer finger was not done well, which results in the tip of finger rotating 90 degrees to how it should fit.

This would be really annoying for using them on a touch screen, however the touch screen feature/ compatibility does not work. I cannot even open an app while my phone is unlocked, and have to take my gloves off to use my phone at all.

This feature was the main reason I bought them. Not worth the money, and due to the return policy, I’m stuck with them. At least they function ok as regular gloves.

Decent pair of gloves. Orange color doesnt match the jersey or pants though.

Perfect fit and very comfortable. I’ve always wore a different brand but after trying these out I’m sold. I will definitely be ordering more of these Thor youth gloves.
