20 Best Glucosamine For Cats (2022 Updated)

I have four dogs, two with arthitus, and I gave them Missing Link for a number of years. After surgery for a hip joint of one of the two I asked the vet about further supplements and this was the one recommended.

The twins, Pomeranians, seem to benefit from the capsules. I put them in their morning food, Donald is very receptive, Edmund sometimes leaves his in his bowl and needs to have the capsule put in his mouth.

The smell is rather fishy, but all four dogs accept fish easily so this is not a problem. My two arthritic dogs seem considerably more comfortable since I bought the supplement for them and less stiff in their hind legs.

We have been trying this product for 3 mo. now, so I feel like I can give an honest review. I have a 14 yr German Shorthair Pointer. He is healthy and ideal weight, so there are no underlying illnesses.

Just aging. For the last year he has been struggling standing up from his bed and his walks were getting shorter. I decided to give this product a try and after about a month and half I noticed one day that he was just popping up out of his bed again.

And he walks the entire block(about a mile) without skipping a beat, plus energy to spare. He has started his zoomies again, although they don’t last as long, but I’ll take it. I feel like years have been added back to his life, so I can’t recommend this product enough.

I followed the dosage as described on the bottle and he is now on one pill a day. He is a picky eater, but he will eat these with no problem, if I break them in half.

I adopted a senior mastiff mix a few months ago, he’s a sweet old dude who was slow to move and get up, wasn’t interested in play. When I took him for his vet visit I was told he had arthritis and that he was probably experiencing aches and stiffness.

My vet recommended buying this for him and so I did. I started him on the recommended two a day for the first few weeks. After just ONE week I noticed a huge difference. It was like a miracle, he now gets up quickly and walks fast and eager, he got playful and jumps around.

He was like a new dog! I’m not kidding i was so amazed it seemed like it reversed him a few years! Worth the price, I’m so happy my big boy doesn’t seem as achey or painful and I can’t recommend this enough.

Also I thought I might have to hide the tablets in his food, but he eats them like treats, no problem so I guess there’s no bad taste.

Our dog suffers from digestion issues and IBD. His B12 levels were very low and this is the supplement that the IMS recommended. I was a little bit nervous to feed something with chicken flavor because of my dogs insane sensitivities to food and all the work we’ve put into a hydrolyzed diet.

Turns out, this supplement has hydrolyzed chicken! So it is safe for my dog to eat. And he takes it like it’s a treat every morning. He is very very picky so the fact that he takes it right out of my hand like a treat is a bonus.

I think this is really helping my kitty with IBD. I have tried everything, and this is the only thing that has slowed down his dribbling. I’ve only been using it about two weeks, so not sure about long term effects.

He does not take it readily, so I have to put it in his mouth where he usually tries to spit it back out. Once wet, it falls apart, so I try to get it back in his mouth quick. He usually swallows it the second time without too much fuss.

It’s easier than giving shots.

My vet put my 4 year old cat on this vitamin when she had horrible gut issues and her blood work came face with a vitamin B deficiency. Before using this vitamin, Kitty refused to use her litter box and was constipated for days at a time and would eliminate her bowels at various locations around my house.

After spending $2,000 at the vet and $300 worth of meds over a two month period, I had nearly given up. I tried every kind of litter and multiple locations for litter boxes around my house. I think this only confused her and I would caution you to think twice about this method.

She would only pee in her regular box with litter I had used for years. Sadly, I even gave up my male cat because the vet thought Kitty might be stressed by his rough play. He went to a good home, thank God, but I still feel awful.

When she began to refuse the Hills prescribed vet formula food and/or spit out her antibiotics and prednisolone, I decided to take her off everything! I put her back on her regular wet Blue Buffalo Basics Turkey and Potato because she seemed to be starving.

(I didn’t even phase her into the food by mixing it with the vet food. ) I left her on this B12 vitamin as well as Viralys L-Lysine and probiotics that the vet had recommended months before her bowel issues.

These were the only things that my cat didn’t recognize as yucky medicine. The results were immediate. After two months of illness, she has gained back 2 pounds, her coat is shiny and she is perky again.

I now crush one B12 tablet and mix it with her other powdered L-Lysine and probiotic and mix it in with her wet food. While I am not a vet, I think that these three items did the trick and will help maintain her gut health going forward.

I still recommend seeing your vet BUT do the ultrasound first and the expensive fecal panel. I would have saved a lot of money! All the tests came back negative except the ultrasound that showed her gut was inflamed.

I believe the initial dosing Metronidazole worked the best. I should have NEVER taken her off her food or confused her with the litter box thing. Keep your cat’s gut healthy!!!.

Naturally, if you are not bothered by anything, you do not need to drink it just like that. Only in a complex. Particular attention should be paid to the reaction of your stomach. We took this drug with pleasure, but the dosage was smaller.

In the end, we were thrilled. So I can safely recommend it.

Just keep in mind that when taking a supplement you need to consider all side effects and drug interactions first. And come up with a regimen which avoids bad combinations, favors good ones and takes into consideration the best time of the day to take the supplement.

Cosamin was recommended by my surgeon to help ease joint pain. They help, but don’t work immediately. The medicine needs to build in your system before the pain of movement eases, but once a comfort level is reached you can reduce dosages.

That information is on the bottle. The price is a little high for what I think of as a vitamin, but to ease the pain, it’s worth it. The real problem is with the size of the capsules. From the attached picture you can see it’s close to an inch long, which makes it difficult to swallow.

Once I started taking them, though, the pain was greatly reduced and is now manageable. I will continue ti purchase as long as my physician deems necessary.

One day and for many days after my left knee was in such pain, made it near impossible to walk even around the house. I am taking turmeric for my right knee and have for 8 years but it was doing nothing for the left one.

It took about 3 weeks to work. Ive used it before on other cats with immediate results. Keely had been listless, withdrawn and depressed acting , not able to jump up on things and I could tell it was really bothering her mentally.

After the cosequin kicked in, she has continued to improve–about 6 weeks now. Kitten like energy, much more interactive, got her jumping ability back, zoomies , and she actually lost weight which was needed.

I dont know how that worked –maybe more activity but she looked like a ham with legs before and she just seems to be dropping weight and has definition now. She’s 8. I tried this on another cat I have–he’s big–a norwegian forest cat with a sensitive digestive tract and after a couple weeks he was really perked up but he then got lethargic and diarrhea and when I stopped it those symptoms went away.

So it doesnt work the same for all cats but a good product and certainly worth a try.

My youngest cat that I just adopted was diagnosed by the vet with having a luxated patella which concerned me greatly I was looking very long term as to what this is going to be when she is much older.

My 18yr-old cat dislocated her back leg and ended up with serious joint damage. She absolutely would not take her pain meds no matter what/how. After ditching the pain pills and starting Cosequin, I immediately started noticing improvements in mobility.

Recovery was still long, but she has since lost her limp and is back to her old self. I have kept it a permanent part of her daily “treat”. She absolutely loves the flavor and knows when it’s “time” for her treat, meowing and scratching until she gets her Cosequin (I mix it with a bit of the Churu puree).

Bought this for our 32 year old 1/2 Arab gelding. At the start of winter he was a bit stiff in his back end and was keeping himself separate from the other horses. After just a week or two on this supplement I saw him playing with my other gelding, trotting circles around him, play biting and rearing up.

He is the one initiating play on a regular basis now! I highly recommend this product!.

I never give bad reviews, but this time I feel that I should warn others. I received a product that was completely open and the seal was broken. It was not due to shipping. Clearly the employee who placed this product in the box would have seen this.

I was told by PBS that this was not their fault. That they purchase their product directly from the manufacturer. Yet when I asked who is responsible for shipping the product, they are. I am not a fan of the blame game.

I will never order any supplements from here again. They do not take responsibility.

Love love loveless product. It has made a huge Difference in my 3 horses that are different ages and have different workloads. I pair this with the MSM and it seems to be a very effective in my supplement program.

But like all supplements it does take a little bit of time to get to a therapeutic level.

I highly recommend Lubrisyn. I’ve tried other products such as Cosequin, Platinum Performance, Cetyl -M, Nupro, etc for my dog’s arthritis discomfort. I used a Lubrisyn years ago and don’t recall why I stopped giving it to him.

Now, as he’s aged, arthritis has flared up once more only now, more consistently and severely. I’ve come back to Lubrisyn to provide relief. I trust this brand. It’s palatable to my dog, horse and even myself.

I’ve just started my dog back on it but I have no doubt, within a few weeks, he will feel much less achey and stiff.

I’ve bought this twice. The first time the pump arrived with pieces chipped out, but I got it to work. This time, the tube inside the pump is too long, soafter numerous tries, I had to cut it shorter to get the pump to fit in the bottle.

Even after doing that, the pump fails to screw on to the bottle. I’ve ended up wearing half the product just trying to get the pump assembled and inserted. The lubrisyn itself is good but this problem with the pumps is too much.

Lubrisyn has been a miracle in easing arthritis pain. Before if Max ran around really hard that evening he would lift his back leg o ease the pain. Since treating with a squirt of Lubrisyn on his food each night he has never felt pain from running.

I saw this brand and like you, read the reviews. and thought for the price, Id give it a try. So far, I am really pleased with the results. My 14 year old Wheaten Terrier was having rear hip issues (slow getting up/laying down) and going up/down stairs was a tad challenging for her (and weve got a lot of stairs in our home unfortunately).

Ive been giving her one and a half of the recommended dose as the instructions tell you to do (actually tell you to double the dose) for the past 2. 5 weeks and I am truly seeing very good results. She is now able to get up/down much quicker and she boogies up/down the stairs like shes several years younger.

This is awesome!! If shes feeling this good at only 2. 5 weeks, I cant wait to see her at 4+ weeks. She loves the taste of the tablets and looks forward to getting them each morning. I highly recommend this product.

I have been a repeat buyer of this Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM for dogs for the past few years. I’ve found the product to be of good quality and helpful to my 2 Newfoundlands. MY oldest newfie has hip problems.

She is 11years old and this product has helped her stay active.

I’ve used this on my dog for years. I changed to a different product recently from a friend’s recommendation. Well. needles to say I’m back. This stuff is GREAT! My dog likes it and I love the results.

I just bought two 480 pill bottles.

My sweet cat had a bleeding outer ear infection, this (we believe), caused her Anemia. We want to help her overcome this. We have used this before and she takes it well with her food. She has only been taking it for a few weeks but she seems to be doing much better.

It will take some time and care. Please, anyone who has a Cat and the Cat gets injured (with bleeding), act quickly to build up their Iron intake so they do not become Anemic. It only takes a little blood loss.

When my 19-year-old cat was diagnosed with kidney failure and anemia, our vet said he needed daily subcutaneous fluids and specific high-iron vitamins. The sub-Q fluids were enough of a struggle; my cat did not like the prescribed vitamins and that led to another daily struggle.

My Basset hound has had serious joint issues since he was a puppy. We started him on Vita-Flex when he was 10 months old. He’s now 7. I won’t say it’s a cure, but it has helped significantly. We haven’t had to use prescription pain meds very often, and he has led a mostly normal life.

I started my retired qh gelding on this product a few months ago. I was hoping it would aid in keeping his joints comfortable and helping with his respiratory health (he has heaves). However, this product made him extremely gassy.

He’s not usually a gassy horse, and rarely have I heard audible farts from him. Being on this product he farts constantly and loudly and just seemed uncomfortable in general. He’s not a sensitive horse, and has never had any significant digestive upset up until using this product.

I did some research online and found a few other people who said the Vitaflex MSM made their horses gassy and colicky too. Just something to be aware of if you’re considering this product.
