20 Best Glue For Puzzles (2022 Updated)

We were happy with the results. It took 2 coats of glue on the front and on the back of the puzzle for it to be completely glued together. The glue dries fairly quickly. We let it dry about an hour between coats.

Make sure you wash the applicator with warm soapy water as soon as you’re finished using it. It was a 1000 piece puzzle so we used about 2/3 of the bottle. It worked best to pour smaller amounts of the glue at a time and work quickly to spread it.

The glue will start to get tacky right away. Be sure to put wax paper or parchment paper around the edges of the puzzle. Be careful not to get too much glue over the edge of the puzzle. In some areas, where we had paper underneath, the edge it stuck and was difficult to remove without damaging the puzzle.

After the final coat we let the puzzle dry overnight. Overall we were happy with the results. This is the only puzzle glue we’ve used so we don’t really have a comparison but we would use this again.

I was extremely nervous gluing my first puzzle and watched a lot of how-to videos on what to do to make sure I’m doing it right. I have to say. BE WARNED: Do NOT use this glue on the FRONT of a puzzle if it was very cheaply made or has a cheap printed image on it! Apparently the puzzle I put together was a cheap print (it was a personal photo turned into a puzzle from a website) and I stupidly spread the glue on top of the image and used the rubber scraper, etc.

and it SCRATCHED my puzzle! The videos said you have to use a fair amount of pressure to get the glue inside all the cracks, so I didn’t think I was scraping that hard, but it started scratching the image on the puzzle and smearing all the bits around, it was just awful.

I am not blaming the glue or the scraper, I just wish I would have known this before I ruined it. I was very upset. I had to buy another puzzle and this time made sure to glue the BACK of it, which did not tear at all.

Only in a few spots in the corners did maybe have a little bit of the glue bleed through to the front, but you could almost pick it off like clear glue. Same for it if bleeds out to the sides of the puzzle.

Once it completely dries, you can just pick or cut off the excess and it looks just fine! The glue itself is awesome. I would say one bottle is enough for three 16 x 20 puzzles, if that gives you any idea of how much you’d need (give or take).

I bought more of this glue to use for future use, but just beware, I recommend just gluing the back and not risk scratching up your actual image on the front. It was heartbreaking to see that happen and I wanted to make sure that gets noted in my review.

I bought this thinking it was going to be a waste of money. Definitely worth it, it worked wonderful! If you fold or bend the puzzle it will come apart. PROS: Dries clear, easy to apply, dried quickly, add a shine to puzzle picture CONS: spatula was a little messy to clean, product is clear- could not tell if I had coated the entire picture/front face of the puzzle well.

I used one coat on each side. maybe studier if you utilize more coats? Either way it is worth the money if you want to save your puzzles.

Used this to seal a jigsaw puzzle. One coat each on front & back of 16″x20″ piece. Worked nicely, dried clear. Probably enough left in jar to do another one. My only complaint is the smell: worked in a big, well-ventilated space and still got headache & sore throat.

If you’re sensitive to fumes, try to work with a fan nearby, and if you can stay away from object while it’s drying, that’s helpful too.

modpodge is awesome! since its white you can see where you got it or where you missed easily. the smell is kinda weird, its like elmers school glue but with something else. the smell isnt very strong so nothing to worry about there.

one coat would work to frame a puzzle but i perfer top and bottom just in case the frame falls and breaks i dont want the puzzle to scatter. will definitely be buying more of it for other projects.

Couldn’t locate the puzzle glue I previously used & liked, so I tried this instead. Thankfully I still had the glue spreader from my old box, it does not come with a brush or tool. It does appear to dry clear and a little glossy (I dont know how it might effect the image as I typically flip & glue the back of my puzzles) I will see how it holds up between finished puzzles but I think I’m going to try to find my prior brand.

Works for one whole puzzle. Makes it shiny and does its job! Price could be cheaper. But. Hey! It is what is. And Im a satisfied customer and would buy this again. You decide.

All edges lifted and warped.. Some Puzzle pieces separated, especially along the edges. Repair is difficult.

Mod Podge puzzle saver does the job, instructions on it are a bit confusing as it tells you to let dry but also clean up while wet. And as the glue is white whilst wet,I was worried it would stay that way if not cleaned, but it cleared and we didn’t clean it.

We didn’t even need to apply glue from the back. Very happy with this product and with the rate the pandemic is going Iam sure we will use it again and soon. 🤪.

this product to my surprise didn’t have an applicator. the glue have to be app;ied by pouring it on the puzzle then wipping it around with your fingers. made for a messy job on the the puzzle,fingers and the surface under the puzzle.

to my amazement however the glue worked well the glue dryed evenly with a nice gloss yjat held the puzzle togther nicely.

Worst puzzle glue ever. You have to glob on obscene amounts for anything to hold. I’ve done multiple passes over several WEEKS and the puzzle still falls apart. You know what worked better? Packing tape.

Yes, flip your puzzle over and cut strips of clear packing tape and your puzzle will stay together much better than this glue could ever hold it.

This is my second time ordering this puzzle glue. It works wonderfully. It leaves a clear coat and doesnt clump on the puzzle. Doesn’t have an odor either. Takes about 45 minutes to an hour to dry.

worked perfectly. I have never glued the front of a puzzle and was very hesitant as I had spent many hours putting the puzzle together and did not want it ruined. The glue worked perfect, was easy to work with.

I recommend using a credit card or hard edge to spread the glue. The little thing in the container is WAY to small to spread a large amount of glue.

Great! I like how I can easily pour it over the puzzle and spread it with the spatula.

This is the best puzzle glue I have ever used. No odor to deal with either. I took a little longer to dry then the package stated but that was no problem. The dry puzzle is strong and flexible for framing.

Got this glue, because I have never preserved a jigsaw puzzle before. It’s s really good product and performs as expected. My only concern is that it is really overpriced, and I find that other glues work just as well.

The included brush is useless to me – too small, thus the 3-star assessnent.

This is great puzzle glue. Goes on easily and dries nice and clear. I put it on the front, and after it dries then on the back. Depending on what I will do with the puzzle I might do a 2nd cvoat on the front.

I have even given this as gifts for family & friends who also do puzzles. They have told me they love it. Very easy to use.

It really works! Just paint a smooth thin layer, of glue all over one side of the completed puzzle. It won’t mess-up the picture. Let the one side dry. Flip it over, so you can paint the glue on the other side of the puzzle.

Let it dry. Now, you can get the puzzle framed. It is expensive at Michael’s, yet they do an excellent job. No problems at all.

If you are looking to save or frame a puzzle this stuff is for you! There is enough to do more than one large puzzle. It works great and keeps the puzzle nice and stiff. Leaving no sin or glue residue.

I use only this glue when gluing my puzzles. It work very good. It does dry clear so you can use it on the front of the puzzle. It holds puzzles together very well. The 8oz bottles last a long time. I have gotten a couple big puzzles out of my bottle.

worked as it is supposed to. First time I’ve ever used puzzle glue so I did end up putting on two coats (If I had just spread it a bit heaver (maybe used a brush instead of the tool I might have got away with just one, but not a problem doing 2).

You do (or should) need to attach it to a backing and I followed on of the online video guys to do so which I would recommend. Easy to use and do,.

There was just enough in that bottle for a 2000 piece puzzle. One coat each side. Worked really well. Only thing I would say is that a better applicator attached to the lid, eg. a brush would be better than the current set up.

As I said I purchased to complete my puzzle when finished. I went to use it this morning, and it seems easy enough. But I will advise, the directions are not really that clear. It doesn’t say how much to use.

So That’s the only drawback I see so far. that I may have to apply again after it drys.

I bought this glue so my granddaughter could glue her cool glow in the dark puzzles. She’s going to hang them when she completes them.

I like that I did not need to use a clear acrylic sealer to remove stickiness, as with other puzzle glue. But the instructions are a little wanting. Let me share some useful tips. Slide a sheet of plastic underneath the puzzle so when the glue seeps through the pieces, it doesn’t adhere to the table.

Also, use a goo-removal product to clean the scraper.

Full disclosure- first time user for my first saved jigsaw puzzles: two 1000 piece puzzles @ 24″ x30″ and 19 1/4″ x 26 5/8″. Intend to hang on wall. Purchased three bottles and used 2 1/2 on two full fronts and one back so far.

Surprised to find the glue is totally transparent and difficult to gauge coverage on glossy front side but simple on back side. Enclosed spreading tool works well but be aware that corners are extremely pointed and might not be appropriate for children.

Puzzle will bend and buckle after drying so weighting down is advised as is a backing board or framing. Puzzles look vibrant after drying and amazed at how well all pieces adhere together. The excess trims easily with razor.

No fumes and easy clean up. Overall, very pleased and would both recommend to others and would purchase again.

It’s a great product but I would have liked some more instructions on how to apply it. This was the first time I glued a puzzle and took me a few trials to understand how the glue worked. The top of the bottle has a release nozzle which releases glue as you press it on the puzzle pieces.

It creates a light foam that I spread all over the puzzle. In many cases I had to apply it twice, mainly to glue non Ravensburger puzzles. When dry you don’t even notice it’s there which I like a lot.

I love puzzles and I absolutely love this glue. The positive about it is that it really gets inbetween the pieces and it holds them together. This also means that you need a lot of it so be carefull not to use all of it on just a half of the puzzle.

It keeps the motive fresh and nice looking – like brand new. It shines after the applying the glue. The negative is, this glue is not strong enough to glue the pieces to the background – like some paper.

It will stick them together but youll need some much stronger glue it to the paper. Also, Id like ravensburger to produce a bigger size. This one covers only 4000 pieces puzzle, but if you want to glue it well, youll probably need two pass with it.

Finally, the box – looks amazing.

I used this to prepare a 1000 piece jigsaw for wall mounting. It was a slow process, but not difficult. The end result, after one application, was fairly effective – no pieces fell out when I held it up.

But I needed to put it onto another board to give sufficient rigidity for wall mounting. Without the conserver that would have been a problematical task.

My mother is elderly and loves her puzzles and wanted to frame one. I looked for unmessy products and decided to try these. I loved them. I framed an 18 x 24 inch puzzle just as directed and even rolled the pieces of paper on the back with a rolling pin to make sure there were no bubbles.

Used 2 tabs and it hangs beautifully!! She is so happy. No expensive frame and took 5 mins to do. I will be buying more!!!.

Works very well as an alternative for puzzles glue which is messier. Great idea, but somewhat overpriced.

I bought this for my mom to hang up a completed puzzle and was really disappointed. It comes in small squares and you actually have to assemble the puzzle on the adhesive directly, which creates a huge problem when you’re actually working on the puzzle.

I’ve been doing jigsaw after jigsaw in this pandemic, and I cannot tell you how good this glue is. I used it on my first 1000 jigsaw and left it to dry for an hour and it was already solid. Me being me wanted it to be extra strong I popped some more on, and framed it, it’s brilliant.

Definitely recommend.

Easy to use and good result. One word of warning! There are no tips for hints included. Make sure there is something underneath the puzzle that you don’t mind it sticking to. Ours was on plywood and I had to ease it off that as it would have been too heavy to frame!.

I have 2 expensive puzzles to put together and I want to glue the pieces down on strong canvas. They will be used as wall decor. And memories of my young grandson and I spending time together.

This glue is very thin and took three coats on front of puzzle and one coat on back. Needs to be thicker.
