20 Best Glue For Veneer (2022 Updated)

Does what it says it will do. I’m not using this glue to replace the usage Tite Bond III wood glue. I’ve been using epoxy and or super glue to attach metal military emblems to the wooden Urns I make.

Since the label says this will bond wood and metal, I thought I’d give it a try. It works nicely to bond the metal military emblems to the wood Urns. Was less hassle, and easier to clean up any excess glue squeeze out.

While it advertises equivalency, I found the clear glue behaved rather differently than the white version. It does not seem to be quite as “permanent”, and parts of the surfaces let go after a few days with minimal force applied.

However, the fact that it expands less (does not “bubble”) and has no color do make the application a bit easier. This was used gluing plastic to glass.

I used this glue to fix my child plastic toy. It does seem to hold really well but I found it very hard to clamp for two hours unless it was just perfectly shaped fit in a clamp (it does say you can put it between to have a heaven things instead but that did not work for the toy I was fixing).

I was going to fix another toy with it too but it was impossible. There was no way to keep it clamped for two hours even between two heavy objects it was just the nature of the shape of that toy.

I like this particular polyurethane glue better than other brands, much easier to flo where you want it to go. Good price.

Highly effective. Pay attention to usage because the glue will expand.

The glue ok but will bleed through on very thin veneers. I use mostly shop-sawn veneer so that’s not often a problem. The manufacturer states the shelf life of this product is 12 months and the bottle I received was already 6 months old.

Knowing how large Rockler and how much product they move, I can only assume that they aren’t very good at stock rotation. Titebond does date their products but they deliberately obfuscate the date – the code decrypter is on their website.

If you can, buy your glue in a store where you can read the date unless you use it so fast it doesn’t matter.

I have now glued down about 8-10 2″ veneer squares and am happy with how this product has so far performed. Using a light coat of glue I can place and position the veneer and have maybe 2 minutes to make adjustments to it’s location before it is pretty well stuck in place.

The instructions (If Im remembering correctly) say 45 minutes to 2 hours for curing, but I have been removing the clamps holding my veneer pieces in place after about 20-25 minutes with so far no adverse effects (curling, movement, etc) I have not had any bleed-through on 1/42″ veneer.

At first I did wish that it didnt quite flow as easily as it does, that it was very slightly thicker. Upon using it more however, I decided that if it was thicker then it would be harder to get a thin coating on small pieces probably.

I have learned how to work with it and it isnt an issue or concern any more. This has been a very good glue for my application and would certainly not hesitate to purchase again (but I think a quart of this will last me a long, long time).

Excellent glue for vacuum bag veneering, thin enough for rolling on with a printer’s rubber brayer, just could do with a little more tac like other Titebond glues. Have used this product for several years now, always for the face veneers.

Combined with Axminster’s fast delivery service too, a no brainer.

A good and useful waterproof glue. It expands whilst curing (so don’t use too much) and fills small gaps. It resists the weather here in Argyll which is very testing and the large plastic door that I used it to repair is holding up well.

I have also used it to make a sturdy generator trolley and it stands up to both the damp conditions and the vibration very well. I’d recommend it to anyone. It was a good price. The vendor sent it quickly and it was well packaged.

Tip. Store the bottle ‘top down’ to keep fresh glue at the nozzle.

This product is a superior replacement for the regular 2-part epoxy used for gluing steel tubes into wooden or acrylic pen blanks. On contact with moisture in the air, the glue foams up to fill all the gaps and so there is less chance of the blank splitting off the tube in the final stages of turning.

Cost is a fraction of epoxy (about 25%), has a longer shelf life, and does not need pre-mixing so less mess and no waste. A “win-win” product for turning pens & highly recommended.

Bonds well. Glued a metal hook to slate for hanging, and also mended neighbour’s garden ornament. Very pleased with performance so far. Will order again when I’ve used this. Would recommend to friends and family.

I’ve used Weldwood Contact Cement forever but this product is getting hard to find in California probably because of strict California chemical laws and the green version of this product just does not work.

And many other states don’t want to ship anything that is the least bit hazardous to California. I’m thankful I was able buy it on Walmart. Thank you Walmart.

I use this in a somewhat unusual way that requires flexibility. Follow the instructions and it will hold forever. Cleanup with paint thinner. There are other much more expensive products that I avoid.

Humidity, temperature and direct sun can affect how this bonds so keep that in mind. Try a test with it first if you haven’t used it and then try and peel it apart. Porous materials require a second coat.

The first coat will reactivate with the second coat. You don’t need to over saturate a porous material – keeping some of the pores open helps with proper drying and bonding.

A product the lives up to its name. I’ve spent the last week repairing broken items and glueing things to other things to test the hold. Results? Impressive. The curing time is not for people with gratification issues.

But the wait is worth the results. Glasses? Repaired. Trim on a shelf? Repaired. Random kid’s toy glued to my book shelf? New coat hook.

Gorilla original glue has been a big life (and money) saver for my family. I deal with a lot of fragile things pretty much every day and gorilla glue has been my saviour. It practically can glue pretty much anything and everything! Very easy to use and it gives very quick results.

It is waterproof, so you could potentially use it for things like garden chairs, pots, etc. It is very versatile can be used on wood, metal, ceramic/glass, etc. I would highly recommend keeping this handy, even if you don’t need it at this moment.

I needed a strong glue to re-fix a kitchen drawer front. I looked at the Titebond website to make sure which glue I needed first as they all have different purposes. Having found many glues often fall short of their hype, i was very pleased to have found one which actually worked on particle board.

Although it’s supposed to be no-run, no drip. that only applies if it’s used sparingly. Yes, I probably over did it a bit so when I pressed the surfaces together I had to clean up the surplus. I guess that’s all part of the learning curve.

I quite liked the little stopper which once I cleaned off the glue inside the spout, I replaced. Hopefully it will stop the glue hardening over time. The downside is the container size, as it’s not the sort of thing I would use very often.

But this particular glue doesn’t come in a smaller size.

Really nice glue, thick texture and fast (15 minute) set up. Consistency a lot like modge podge but this is a great adhesive. I use it for wood intarsia projects.

Must take off cap, clean in solution and wipe clean, if you expect to use again. Glue builds up and chokes out future flow of product. Would work in squeeze tube better, given its properties. Leaves colored brown look, so don’t go beyond immediate area and clean any other immediately.

Once on it bonds it’s permanent with any plastic or fibrous surface, or wood, cloth, never tried on glass or metal. Clean cap, snap tiny top on pour cap and store upside down.

I needed to re-attach my after-market backup camera screen on my dashboard. I tried double-sided tape and another brand of glue. Nothing worked. Gorilla Glue saved the day. It’s held the screen in place for a week, so it looks it will last.

I bought this for an experiment: Glue soles back onto athletic shoes. I’ve previously tried every flexible-when-cured adhesive known to man. No Luck. (Believe it or not- Cheap hot glue was the best- until this came along.

) I don’t know why I didn’t think of polyurethane adhesive earlier. This polyurethane adhesive worked very well on the shoes. I was surprised. About twenty-four hours after application (with a 2 hour clamp time), I flexed the shoe like crazy.

Next I tried tearing the sole off. After that, I soaked the joint in water. It held up just fine. When it’s well below zero degrees, I will be interested to see how well the glue holds. Note that the bubbled out adhesive where I over-applied was easy to scrape off.

It was light tan in color. Also note that I tired it on steel-to-steel and wood-to-wood. The steel worked well.

This glue is great. There is a bit of technique to use it correctly and get the best performance, but on the right materials and used correctly there is nothing better (IMO). Shelf life can be an issue with this large bottle, so I store it in the refrigerator.

There was an issue with my order but the vendor responded instantly and generously to resolve it. Kudos to them.

I love Gorilla Glue. There is a slight learning curve for using it. Be sure to read the directions before use and make sure you have all the supplies you need around you when you start your project. We use Gorilla Glue in our home for all sorts of projects, it is our go to adhesive.

Recently, the bottom of my daughter’s shoe fell off. She used Gorilla Glue to reattach the sole, and it was as good as new. We use it for rubber, plastic, wood, all sorts of materials. It does take a little longer to dry than other glues, but that allows me to reposition if need be, and my fingers don’t get stuck together.

I always keep a damp rag near me when using it. Gorilla Glue expands as it cures, so keep that in mind. You don’t need a ton. Also, keep it out of reach of children and dogs.

I bought this to attach moulding to some home made MDF cupboard doors and it did the job perfectly. The glue is very good. The only problem I have is with the bottle it comes in. The cap has a small twist up nozzle that allows you to squeeze out a small and accurate bead of glue, however it takes some pressure to do this.

When I first tried it the whole cap came off and a large dollop of glue dropped onto the door. I thought I must have loosened the cap somehow, and so scraped up the excess back into the bottle and reattached the cap tightly.

Then the same thing happened again. Not wanting to get caught a third time, since then I’ve been unscrewing the cap and putting a small, controlled, dollop of glue on each piece and spreading it out as needed with a palette knife.

It’s probably just that I got unlucky with this bottle, but thought I’d add a warning here to take care until you’re sure the cap will hold.

I am a useless DIY-er and hate having to do practical jobs (I can create two more jobs from any one job I tackle) but I needed a wood glue for a list of home DIY items that her-indoors was becoming annoyed about; so I asked a tame decorator for advice and he suggested Evostick.

I bought a 500 ml “bottle” from Screwfix (excellent Covid-managed service!), did all the jobs very carefully, and it worked perfectly. Cleaning up with a damp cloth was easy, and while the glue is white on application it did indeed turn invisible when dry.

Pefect jobs; glue was rock hard in 24 hours; and lots of brownie points from her-indoors. Two people happy now.

I have been using Evo Stick wood glue for many years. It’s a reliable product, easy to work with and produces excellent results every time. It also has a good shelf life which is a bonus if you don’t use it often and have it kicking around for a few years.

My only gripe is that the nozzle is a poor design needing cleaning between uses as the residue in the nozzle can go hard.
