20 Best Gmod Sandbox Maps (2022 Updated)

I bought the Platinum Version that includes Satellite Images. Thought being, if I can see a drop off and tie it to land structure, like a dock for example, it’d help with ice fishing to be able to walk over to that approximate location.

When zooming into a lake of interest, the Satellite images are fuzzy and of poor quality. Then, surrounding the lake I’m interested in, the images stop and the map simply displays text noting it as “wooded area”.

In Hindsight, I should have saved the extra $35 bucks and gotten a cheaper version. Can’t see myself ever using the satellite images. Satellite images are not Google Map quality. They are much less detailed and fuzzy.

Just got this for my Lowrance Elite 9 TI2 and haven’t taken it out on the lakes. Early thoughts. very easy to use, I took out the micro-disk, popped it into the usb flashdrive adaptor, downloaded the software to my pc and updated the micro-disk.

Put it into the Lowrance and looked at some of the detailed contours of our local lake. I’m real excited to get out there and hit some of the spots where bass should be sitting at this time of the year.

Platinum Features are nice but may not be available where you fish. Example: Lower Columbia River (below the Greater Portland Area) is not available as of 11/19/20. Upon request Navonics can provide you with coverage map(s) showing areas with Platinum Feature coverage.

I would recommend viewing the Platinum coverage area before purchasing a Platinum card. I found most of my favorite spots were not covered. Platinum features are great when present. Coverage area(s) are to limited to recommend this product at this time.

I have been using the Navionics Plus app for almost a year and absolutely love it. I have it loaded on my Ipad and use it both on my boat and also my razor. I love the detail and for most part very easy to use and would rate the app a 5+.

So when I bought a new Lowrance HDS 9 fishfinder and learned that I could get the Navionics Plus SD card to use it is I has very excited to receive it and put the SD card in my finder and head out. Placed the SD card in the Lowrance and it asked me if I wanted to switch to using it verses the default Lowrance mapping and I said yes.

I expected the same great detail, nope couldn’t really tell the difference between Navionics and the default Lowrance charts. So I assumed I must not have the settings right so spent the next 30 minutes trying to fix the problem.

Changed a few settings and made things a little better but no where near the detail I had been use to so I went on the internet to figure what was wrong, did I have a bad SD Navionics card? Nope I found out even though I spent $21/year for the wonderfull app and $139 for the SD card the SD card version does not provide satellite overlay capability.

I just wasted $139 plus tax. I don’t understand why it is missing, the app has it for the exact same location in AZ and the SD card does not. Just beware that you are not really getting the quality in the SD that is provided in the app.

I am very disappointed with Navionics+ East Region. Extremely difficult to install expensive SD Card into my Humminbird Helix. The support from both Navionics & Humminbird at best is terrible. Once out on the water I was extremely disappointed with Navionics.

I will never agin purchase a Navionics product.

It seems that many people are confused by how the card “uploading” works and they give it bad reviews. I’m not blaming them, that’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars. It’s Navionics’ fault. There are ZERO instructions in the box and what’s in the box is contradicting.

It says “pre-loaded, ready to use” on the sleeve but inside the package, where the chip is it says “STOP! Upload online before using. “. Then, to make matters worse, when you go online and try to upload the charts, sonar and community edits, it says you don’t have enough space.

The reason there’s no space it because it IS pre-loaded with the entire region you bought. The problem with that is it doesn’t give you the room to customize for your own needs. So if you don’t want to customize you only need to MAKE SURE YOU SET YOUR UNIT TO USE THE CHIP.

It’s in the settings. But if you do want to customize it’s simple, convenient and really cool. Here’s what you do. 1. Go to the Navionics web page and select “Update My Chart” at the top. You’ll have to register and download the “chart install software”.

2. After the software starts, use the ERASE button to clear the chip. You have to use that button because the chip has other information on it that has to stay. This just clears the chart info. Don’t format or delete anything in any other way.

You’ll destroy the card. 3. Go to the map and zoom it on the area you want and double click. You’ll get a wire frame that you can adjust to cover just that area (lake). You’ll see a gray button on the map with curved lines.

Click on that and it’ll turn blue and give way more detail. 4. Zoom out and make sure you have the right area blocked out. select all three radio buttons on the left and note the amount of space that’ll be used and the time it’ll take to download.

5. Press the “upload ” button and get your first lake. 6. After it uploads, there’s a button on the bottom left that says “add”. Click that and now, at the top of the load box, it says “update” and “download”.

Click download and repeat the process for as many lakes as you want to load. When you’re all done, the map will show the areas you added as highlighted boxes. You can “update” those at a later time. or “download” more with this same process.

I bot my fishing partner Hummin bird 899 because he upgraded to a helix model. He kept his chip so I bot the Navionics+ chip with the whole US and Canada. Put the chip in and went to Bitter lake in NE South Dakota.

Turned on the depth finder and scrolled through the views to find that I’m on dry ground according to my chip. What a joke! I spent $200 on a chip that needs to be updated! Went to Navionics’ web site and it is an absolute joke.

They’re trying to sell you their product rather than servicing their product. Spent an hour trying to figure out how to register my chip(no tab that says register my chip) and then another half hour trying to figure out how to download the updates( no tab that says download updates).

I appreciate that they update their products by why should I have to update a brand new chip? Spent close to an hour downloading Sonarcharts. Going to the lake this Sat so we’ll see if I actually have a map with contours or just a picture of the lake.

I just purchased a new Center Console with a SIMRAD GO 7 XSE and wanted the navigational charts. My buddy has it on his and recommended this particular Navionics. The card is the 32G at this point and I had no problem accessing the website to take advantage of the community boards and downloaded it to my card and put it in.

It runs perfect with no problems or issues. I was looking at most of the reviews and I think that the biggest issue is that they are not checking to make sure they are compatible with this card. I love this product and I have a fishing trip planned shortly and will be using this chip navigate the area and I am looking forward to it.

Due to lightning damage, we had to replace our boat electronics. We chose a Raymarine C97 chartplotter. Our previous charts were on a different size memory card and Navionics prevents their chart data from being copied to another card, no matter what, however for $100 they offer an “upgrade”.

Instead, we chose to order this Navionics+ card and it is working fine for our needs. We mostly sail close to home, so we don’t need a lot of maps, just accurate coverage where we are, especially depth, since we have a sailboat! This does both.

We’ve only used it for a few day outings and 1 multi-day trip so far and it’s what we expected. You can find plenty of more detailed reviews online, I just wanted to say these charts are more than adequate and the more expensive charts (such as Navionics Platinum level) have bells and whistles you probably will not actually use.

I purchased the Great Lakes version and used it on 10,000 acre Portage Lake in Houghton county Michigan. I trolled 65 miles of shoreline in six days using the LakeMaster gps map. I wanted to target trolling in 12 feet of water in a new lake for me.

The gps data on the SD card matched up nearly perfect with sonar depth. I ran a split screen so I could compare gps data and sonar at the same time. Great product and makes learning new water a very simple accurate process.

Being able to know the water depth out in front of the boat was an advantage for trolling and absolutely put more fish in the boat.

I thought somewhere along the line somebody would’ve thought about being able to get an account linked with the chip and you would be able to also to use this on your phone. From what I can tell its just another way for these guys to charge extra money for having to purchase maps separately on the fish smart app instead of being able to somehow use the lakemaster chip you just spent all that money on.

I see something about bluetoothing to you phone but then you have to spend another $6,7,800+ to upgrade to a newer unit. Very disappointed you have to purchase a card for each head unit as well. Very poorly thought out product.

My experience is limited with the product, but Im excited to continue using it. I had been feeling like I was spending more time studying maps than fishing, especially when on unfamiliar waters. The map quality is amazing! Excellent detail for most of the lakes that I fish.

I was able to use the Smart Strike a few times and it definitely helped me get on fish faster. They werent always active, but I was able to mark them. It was a huge advantage versus blindly heading from break to break.

I could easily see a dozen recommendations and hop from location to location. Now, if it could only tell me what lure and technique would get fish on the hook Id be all set!.

I bought this to go with my hds8, I have been using the last map that LakeMaster had made for Lowrance products before Hummingbird bought them out and I really like it. I thought I would update and did to the tune of $161.

That is the most money I have ever wasted on fishing equipment. The package says 1 foot increments but they don’t tell you that it does not show the depth on the contour lines. When you get past what I am guessing is 15 feet it goes to two or three foot intervals, this really is bad, I don’t usually have the time to count the lines to determine how deep the lake is beneath me.

I have clients that I am taking out until Saturday and you can bet I will be there when BassPro opens Monday to take this back. you would think for the amount of money you pay you would get a quality product.

I would not recommend this product to my worst enemy. I have nothing but Lowrance products since the little green box, thinking about selling all of my Lowrance now and buying Hummingbird, at least I can get the contour depths.

Got the Navionics East card and installed it in my Humminbird Mega Helix 7 inch fishfinder. After I installed the card the machine recognized the card as a Fish and Chip card ? The ocean mapping wasn’t really impressive.

The Humminbird base map looked better and was easier to read. I checked the lakes in upstate NY and the maps show a lot more data with lots of contours. Excellent for lake fishermen. Incredible detail.

These are great cards as long as you dont care about being able to use updates. Because the card was used I was unable to do so. This was the main reason I purchased this card so I was a bit bothered that I couldnt do so.

I use this on the Chesapeake bay/Lower Potomac river fishing. Having charts really increased the number of fish i have been catching. Wether its finding rock piles or channel ledges it is a great tool to have.

This product is a waste of time and money. Don’t buy it unless you have an older product that takes a maximum of 2GB cards. This turns out to be a real limitation with newer MFD’s able to address up to 32GB of memory.

That is a huge difference. With the 2GB limitation one can not download enough charts to go from Seattle to SE Alaska if you want the sonar charts which is an obvious desire. In addition the download speeds are pathetically slow.

To fill the card with charts and Sonar takes upwards of 5 hours if you are lucky. Often the downloads fail and one is forced to start over again. And this is at home. Imagine what it would be like in a busy marina where 200 boats are competing for bandwidth.

Worse yet you have to leave earlier than expected due to wind, current or other weather issues. This is not a product for serious cruisers. It is fine for local boaters only.

I’ll never run another GPS without Navionics. It took a little tinkering to figure everything out, but the satellite overlay is a must for inshore fishing. Every sandbar, grass patch, channel, etc. Is just as visible as if I were on my desktop looking at Google earth.

It makes running navigation a breeze. If I’m fishing a new area, I don’t have to fret about where I can run and where I can’t. I’ve gotten everybody I know hooked on navionics. If you have any trouble with making it work, more than likely just a call to your GPS manufacturer or to navionics will educate you.

I’m a pretty simple and not real tech savvy, so for me to get it down pat in a few minutes is saying something.

Great all in one type of card. I expected Nautical Chart, but what I got was that and then some. Super impressed with the Sonar Chart 1ft contours which I use for fishing. Also, the satellite imagery, 3D views and now the new SonarChart Shading which is like taking the water out and seeing what type of topography is down there.

Very cool. Definitely a plus to registering and updating my card.

Until I looked at the satellite overlay on the Platinum 632 chip I purchased, I never know how many little channels and troughs and tiny creeks there were in the areas I was fishing. I found a couple little cuts that produced redfish and snook just by looking at the satellite overlay when I was on the water.

Very helpful. Will not fish without this chip, especially in a tournament.

Good luck learning and/or searching Garmin’s site for instructions on how to copy the Blueseas G3 maps from the MEC sold sd card to your marine unit. No installation instructions included with the online purchased micro sd card.

Pretty easy to sell the charts but wow MEC you don’t care or have given any thought to ask Garmin to include installation paperwork.

I bought this even though the pictures are of G2. Bluechart G3 showed up and it works great.

There were Apple dot files on the microSD that caused the GPS to hang and squeal at shutdown. Delete the dot files and it works great. Just FYI.

I recently mounted a Lowrance HDS-8 on my center console bay boat. I absolutely love the HDS-8 and it’s many features, but was disappointed in the quality of the pre-loaded mapping. For instance, one of the spots where I fish has an approximately 100 ft concrete breakwall coming out perpendicular to the shoreline.

The HDS-8 mapping doesn’t show it at all. Bad news if you’re unfamiliar with the local waters. From previous experience with Navionics mapping, I was pretty sure the Platinum+ would include important details like that and it didn’t disappoint! Very detailed, great quality! Photo overlays great for helping find skinny water in the back bays.

I may not be an expert, but I can’t imagine anything being any better. I put this into my Lawrence Gen 2 touch screen, and wow! No special instructions, it just merged with the software already there.

You could not believe it! It gave me every reef, rock and wreck, and even grass. When I was too deep for my depth sounder to work, I knew how deep I was by looking on the chart. It showed me right where the wall was, and even had local names for many of the places I fished.

I have a Helix 9″ G3N produced in 2018, and the card works on it just fine. I even went to navionics. com and updated the data before using the card. The satellite imagery is super grainy (the card is only 16gb and the data takes up way less than that, like 5-8gb or something.

). Although it is very grainy and poor quality, it is enough to navigate a lot of inshore skinny water. I can see the creeks, can see sandbars, can see most of what I need to. for Port O Connor, and Rockport, Port A, Corpus areas the images are pretty good not too much glare, so it is useable.

The images of POC are at least 3-5 yrs old I’d say as in the pics, Sunday beach is closed off there is no pass as there is now. This was expected though and fine, the imagery is good for areas that don’t change much over time like back lakes etc.

also – you can only use satellite, OR sonar data overlay (at least on my unit), you cannot use both at once. I have heard that you can buy your own SD card, then download what you want off of navionics.

com, and have heard that this is cheaper. I would recommend that bc this card isn’t worth the $200. also, I feel like at very least it should give you lakes of south Tx and LA with it, that would be nice and maybe make it a more reasonable deal.

Again, this card works, does what it should, just not worth $200 in my opinion.

Seller was quick to confirm I had the correct OS in my Garmin chart plotter before sending the micro SD card. More recent OS does not allow the use of copies. I was able to use it on Garmin Homeport but I have not tried it in my chart plotter yet.

So far so good.

This chip adds a multitude of features to your Garmin chartplotter. I operate a commercial vessel in the Pacific Northwest and find this very useful to have on board.

I received the charts and was sceptical but they worked perfectly and allowed me to continue using my Garmin chart plotter..

Like this lutron Skylark so much we have 6 in the house. Found a super helpful install video just search you tube for How to install Lutron Skylark ceiling fan light combo dimmer switch.

Since Garmin has discontinued Birds Eye, this is the only way to upload satellite images into my 2 year old GPS. The picture image quality is absolute junk compared to Birds Eye. at almost $90 a state!!! Plus, you have to upload the entire state, eating up your SD card.

My GPSMAP 64sx just became a VERY expensive paperweight.

This is a great tool for preparing to hunt out west All of the details of the land is remarkable. Would highly recommend its use. Im heading to Montana on an elk hunt and learning everything I can about the area before I get there is a definite game changer.

Works great on my Garmin GPS also.

Works good to see the property lines and more detailed contours google earth.
