20 Best Go Bag Backpack (2022 Updated)

I bought one of these in a military surplus store in Portland back around 2005 because it looked really versatile. And it is. I could remove the shoulder and belt straps to mount it on my chest for parachuting where I needed to carry a few extra items.

It worked great as extra storage/day pack for long motorcycle trips and served the same role in paddling trips. Perfect compartments for binoculars, snacks, rain gear etc. as a day hike pack. It’s a great design, comfortable and rugged.

Mine finally wore out after years of very hard use. Seams started to separate as the thread wore. I sewed ’em back together by hand the first couple times, but eventually knew I needed a new pack. I couldn’t find anything close to it for versatility, so although Hopefully it will go another seventeen years or so.

Sturdy. Keeps its shape. Comfortable when heavy (35 to 40lbs). Sits high on the back, making it feel well balanced. Good amount of pouches and pockets. Belt is removable. Plenty of loops to attach MOLLE pouches.

I use this pack for bluelining for Pennsylvania brook trout (and other excursions), and it’s a fantastic piece of equipment, albeit imperfect. When this back is on my back, it’s in two scenarios: 1) wilderness hikes, with my 6’6″ Superfine Glass in hand, or 2) airport travel with my 5wt or my 8wt in the rod tube holder.

In either scenario, the pack is great yet leaves a few things to be desired. PROS: – The material is durable. I don’t see a situation where this pack suffers a serious rip / tear, based on the quality and toughness of the material.

– Overall, the pack is incredibly lightweight, making it a great option for long hikes with a creek rod – Integrates very well with my Orvis Chest Pack (more on this later), though improvements could be made CONS: – It’s tough to access the bag when the chest pack is attached.

It requires removing half of the chest pack to get to the inner compartments of the bag, which means I usually end up asking a friend to hand me my water bottle – Missed opportunity to add a Camelback or other water bladder — there’s no way to do this in the current design – The net holder leaves a LOT to be desired, as it can be quite awkward to both retrieve and replace a net with the way they’ve set up the holster.

This seems like a bit of a misguided venture from a design perspective. They seem to have made up for this with the net anchor point on the top of the bag. Works like a champ. – The durability of the expansion section to hold a rod tube is questionable.

Mine has started to fray and wear with repeated use. It can also be a bit awkward to insert and remove the rod tubes due to the threading on the seams of the expansion tube. Overall, I love this bag.

It has a ton of flexibility and, despite its flaws, is still the best fly fishing backpack I’ve found. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling via air to destinations or hiking to pristine waters.

Quality Backpack but I would like to suggest some improvements as a fly fisherman and an enthusiast for convivence and simplicity. I would like to see that this backpack be the only item you need on the water.

When you swing the pack around it’s great to open the compartment however, when you unzip it the door/flap opens towards when it should open away from you so it can be used as a quick work area. It also shouldn’t be so flimsy.

It should be a solid door/platform with fly patches. I would love to see a tippet indent station/indent strategically placed on the same side or lower on the left side of the pack so you only have to reach under your arm for tippet.

Lastly, the straps/belt going around your waste serves no real purpose other than stabilizing the pack and if it was a little larger/wider and had magnet pockets to slip small flat daily fly boxes in them for quick and easy access would be great.

If not in that location I would suggest and easy magnet slot for the small fly boxes on the lower left and right side that’s easy to just reach back and pull the box out. I am patinate about gear that makes our life and experience on the water as easy and efficient as possible.

I am solid customer of Orvis and would love to be part of an new design of this pack. I would gladly pay more for this multiple purpose type of pack that really doesn’t exist in the market yet or that I haven’t been able to locate.

I purchased this bag for a trip that involved 3 days fishing followed by a work trip. The bag worked great as a work bag, I was able to get my laptop, second screen and all my electronics, headphones etc easily into the bag.

It was great as a carry on and fit well under the seat in front. I then took work stuff out and it was perfect for a day fishing including 4 miles of hiking. Bag is very spacious and easy to access. I put my camelback in the front section as well as some spare tippet spools.

In the main compartment I had space for a rain jacket, 6 fly boxes, a first aid kit, a box of indicators and my go pro. In the top compartment I had space for lunch as well as some energy bars and my lanyard.

The zip up compartment in the main section was perfect for leaders and several other accessories such as dry fly gel and a thermometer. Finally the zip up compartment in the top was good for keys and licenses and the top compartment perfect for sunscreen and headache pills.

I also had a water bottle in the external pocket. My only minor complaint would be the net “pouch” on the back which was too small really for my net and it got caught in the undergrowth a few times. Overall this is a well designed product perfect for multi purpose trips, hooks and just as a good all round backpack for carrying your stuff in.

Excellent material and stitching. Features 4 well places loops on bottom of pack and near shoulder handle to allow for rope, cordage and other whip-like items to be attached and carried. This pack kept the inside pockets to an efficient size and minimal number; some packs have too many small pockets and compartments that it distracts from stowing survival equipment and encourages the uses to store a bunch of knick-knacks.

NOT THIS PACK ! THIS IS RUGGED & CONCISE. I like the variation of flip pocket and draw-string pouches on the sides; i keep sunglasses and a camo bucket hat in one and quick draw eats in the pouch. I’m glad this pack FEATURES BOTH CHEST AND ABDOMINAL BELT CLIPS.

With plenty of pocket space in the two larger compartment, I am able to pack a fold out, hang tent (just a string and plastic tubular cutout), MRE bars, 2x emergency 8 oz water pouch, shorts and a change of clothes, with the other pocket dedicated to medical supplies.

This pack tackles on the necessities: Shelter, Water, Fire (magnesium flint charm on lanyard), Food (dried Bars or MRE’s. about two small dinners). Great value and an excellent price ! SEE MY VIDEO ON YOUTUBE (search title of article).

The bag itself is nice, the molle on the back is great for clipping knives, 18650 flashlights, ammo, even a holster to. The bag is not that big, but is generous with room particularly given the price point.

The build quality is not much left to be desired, except that [some of] the buckles can come off of the straps pretty easily, so you will need to be mindful that a buckle does not fall off when you toss this bag on the ground or into somebody else’s car, since a buckle can fall off and get lost or something.

I have not taken a hammer to the buckles, and most likely never will, but they look like they could stand up to a few smacks (not TOO hard) and not really be any worse for wear, so the buckles are not low quality.

Also, the zippers are “big”/”fat” style, so they look pretty difficult to break. If you want a kind of small bag (~34Wide X 48High centimeter) that can hold around 3-5 school books, this is a steal of a deal at $42USD (2018CE).

Definitely would recommend to anybody on a budget who does not want to compromise quality, but be mindful that you are sacrificing for cubic centimeters of space. Included are pictures of the product with items to help get a sense of scale; In one image, a [one] meter rule is presented for people who prefer technical scales of measure.

Forget your typical Jansport garbage. This thing can fit a whole medium sized pizza box in it. It really is an outstanding backpack for those who own a motorcycle that has no storage whatsoever. I grocery shop on my motorcycle and this thing can fit a ton of things.

Highly recommended. Funny thing is, I was playing H1Z1 on the PS4 when I decided to get a military backpack and ditch my Jansport. That is the best backpack to acquire in that game due to the increased inventory that you can fit in it.

I ordered myself one. And to my surprise, a video game actually helped me out lol.

I was looking to purchase a backpack for occasional business travel and office use. I prefer a minimalist, subtle look. A bag that is very comfortable, uses durable materials, can take some beating but importantly have a mindful organization built in the bag.

The gears that I needed to carry (most of the time) 1 – 16′ MacBook Pro 2021 2 – 13′ MacBook Pro 2020 3 – iPad Pro 12. 9 2021 4 – Chargers for MacBook and iPad/iPhone 5 – Notebook (A5 size) I usually carry my accessories (chargers, cables, dongles) in a tech pouch (I have a few different ones from Nomatic, AER, Native Union, and Bellroy).

One of the biggest selling points of this bag was the modern look and the size. Here are the Pros and Cons of this bag Pros – Materials feel really nice on this bag – Zipper pulls are nice design touch, making it easy to open and close.

– Perfect capacity with expansion built-in (15l to 21l) – Very well thought organizations inside the bag. Those mesh pockets are just too good. – There’s an RFID pocket – Shoulder straps are so comfy, just love them.

They have metal hardware, couldn’t have done better – Great sternum straps Cons – Extremely small water bottle sleeve. I am struggling to fit even a 24oz Hydroflask. – Bag cannot stand upright on its own.

It will keep tipping over, aahhh. – Laptop sleeve will barely fit the 2021 16-inch MacBook Pro. It’s more of a snug fit. – The zippers are not YKK and tend to be sticky – While the sternum straps have a dangle stopper, the main shoulder straps do not.

I was so disappointed after finding this out. A $250 backpack missing a basic dangle stopper. Nomatic had an opportunity to create a near-perfect backpack at this price point but they missed it ever so slightly.

Hence, its 4-star for me.

I purchased the Navigator backpack at the suggestion of YouTube videos. I wanted a sleek sharp travel bag to fly with and found this bag. It is pricey at $250 plus tax. Yikes! If you are the type that over packs, you might want to bump up to the larger bag.

This 15L sleek slim design will limit you from bringing “everything”. The laptop compartment is nice as its padded and has a 1inch false bottom. They count on you having a newer slim laptop. My 14 inch Lenovo ThinkPad was 20mm thick and did fine.

Each compartment seems to hold just one thing. 4 slim, 1 long mesh and two medium zipper pockets get filled up quick. Oh don’t forget the outside slider pocket, which only holds slim things, the key holder kinda inconvenient and difficult to use.

The bag does an alright job standing up on its own, as long as there is weight in the bag. The main bag compartment doesn’t hinge open all the way to keep the contents from spilling out, which is nice to be honest.

Talk about zippers galore. Even one to extend the bag thickness about two inches at the bottom. My gripes, everything is so precision tight that its inconvenient if the bag is fully loaded. The internal water bottle compartment is useless, the slit allows your hand to get in but not the thickness of a regular water bottle.

It actually keeps you from using valuable space on the inside. Just don’t bother with a water bottle. Maybe that’s where you can put your laptop charger if you don’t plan on needing it often. I ordered the water proof cover, don’t think I’ll use it, my verdict.

Save your money. The strap to hold the bag to a rolly bag handle, is super tight and is difficult once you have the bag fully loaded. This is once part i think they should have given extra slack. The shoulder straps are fine and the chest strap is okay.

There is no hip belt but that didn’t seem to matter. I was traveling with a textbook, 3 ring binder, laptop, tablet device, calculator, peripherals, pen/pencils, charger, water bottle. After extending the bag, it all fit.

I had to be logical how I put things in the bag because the water bottle took up space. As i said before don’t even use that compartment. The “Roller luggage pass through” as they call it needs to be longer.

Other than those two things its a nice small travel bag for the basics.

My SOC backpack experienced a small break after 2 years of heavy everyday use. Being my bag was over 2 years old and I have no idea where my proof of purchase is. I took a chance and contacted customer service @ SOC.

To my surprise they took care of my issue, and my replacement buckle will be here sometime this week! Great job customer service @SOC!.

I purchased SOC bag in 2006 and carried across the world until 2021. The company graciously gave me a discount when they couldn’t fix my old bag. The new 3 Day Pass bag is great and to my surprise is a great diaper bag and patrol bag.

We’ve replaced our old diaper bag with the 3-Day pass bag for long trips and it holds everything we need for all occasions! Great for troops and dads!.

For the past 7 years I’ve used an Incase Eo Travel Backpack extensively for domestic and international travel. I hoped this Nomatic travel pack would be an upgrade, but it is in only some ways. The Nomatic pack is simply too heavy – with the same contents it’s like I’m carrying a brick in addition to my own stuff.

Also, for being slightly larger exterior dimensions, it has less usable internal space because the structure of the bag is thick and bulky. Nomatic, please note: people use bags to carry STUFF. Carrying around *the bag itself* is not the point, if you don’t have the space and the lightness to help me carry MY stuff, your bag is less useful.

Other cons: 1. The little elastic pockets inside the main compartment are way way too shallow. I want to carry my USB power bank, a pack of wipes, a baggie with various cables, and lots of other things.

In my last bag those type of pockets were twice as deep, in the Nomatic they’re too shallow to contain the things I need to put in them. 2. The function of being able to slip it over the handle of your suitcase is great… except that it uses the same space as it does to stow the shoulder straps.

If the straps are stowed, you can’t slip it over a rollaboard handle, and if they’re not stowed they get in the way. Also, why can you only slip it over the handle *sideways* and not upright like every other backpack with that feature? 3.

The included ‘key lanyard’ is cheap junk that you’d use to clip keys onto your belt. This means there’s no real attachment point for it inside the bag. I took it out immediately. 4. The rigid eyeglasses case has a loose, non-attached lid that pops off and gets lost in the bag.

It’s also too big and takes up a ridiculous amount of space. I took it out immediately, and my regular glasses case fits in that pocket much better anyway. Positives (compared to my prior bag): 1. Looks stylish, fewer loose straps on the outside to get tangled on things.

2. Can slip over suitcase handle, with limitations (see above). 3. Can stow shoulder straps, with limitations (see above). 4. Main compartment can be unzipped at the top to reach in, or can be unzipped to open out fully for easy access.

Given the weight, space issues, and interior layout, I can’t say I’m satisfied with the bag overall. I had some ‘extra’ (unexpected tip) money that I spent on the bag, so I’ll keep it and make do until I find something better, but if I’d spent this much out-of-pocket I would have returned it.

It is definitely not worth $300, and I’d still be hesitant to say it would be worth it at half that.

I have a bag problem – I own and have owned tons of bags always chasing the visions of the perfect back. I think I may be able to stop buying bags now. So why? – attractive, sleek design – love the matte, water resistant materials – padded top handle and shoulders straps – very comfortable, including chest strap since I really load this bag up – expandable, magnetic water bottle slots work great and have held a variety of water bottle sizes that I own – internal organization is great, but you can see that in the pictures – top zipper pouch for phones, etc.

has super soft fabric on the inside – I feel good about putting my phone in there without worry of scratches, etc. probably low risk without the soft fabric, but increases confidence – the computer and ipad sections work well.

I have a type cover on my full size ipad and the pouch can take it with the cover. – I also bought the smaller roller bag – this does slide over the handle as advertised, and makes for a good looking set, but more importantly, functional for travel.

Great bag, highly recommend. I’m sure my friends think I work for Nomatic since I keep telling them about it.

I like the pack as a whole. There is plenty of room in the pack for quick overnight travel. I like the way it opens fully. The challenge I have is when carrying on travel, there is little to no breathability between the pack and my back.

When carrying through the airport or on any long walks, and the pack is buckled appropriately, the material currently used on the pack lays flat against my back and it creates a sweaty situation. The current structure doesn’t allow for any way to “breathe” against my back.

My previous pack, though not as roomie as the travel pack, had a web backing which created some “breathing room” between the pack and my back. Outside of that struggle, this pack is a 5-star. But this is a big issue for me, especially for business travel.

If you have any suggestions on ways to adjust, I am open, or if there is a material option I could switch to, I would have an interest. Otherwise, I am not sure this is the fit for me long term. Hope this is helpful feedback.

This review is coming almost 6 months after my original purchase of this pack because I wanted to test it out first. My husband and I were exploring the (new to us) realm of travel backpacks for our May 2022 trip to Austria/Germany, and after watching countless reviews and trying it on multiple different times in-store, I pulled the trigger on this one.

And I am obsessed with it. I waffled back and forth between the 35L and the 42L, but ultimately chose the 42L because of the water bottle sleeve, the load lifter straps, and my ability to cram more souvenirs into the pack on return trips.

That being said, I found that 42L has been almost too roomy for me, and definitely still could’ve packed the 35L with room to spare for our 12 day international trip, so if you aren’t as crazy about needing load lifters or your water bottle externally handy, I’d lean more towards the 35L.

My biggest concern was if the 42L would fit in overhead bins, but I happily found that my pack fit easily in the overhead bins of our American Airlines flight, Iberian flight, and British Airways flight.

Definitely recommend stowing the straps for that. I even crammed it halfway under the seat in front of me for the last bit of one flight to make our getaway smoother, but 8/10 wouldn’t recommend planning on that since it was a tight squeeze and didn’t leave me much leg room.

On the ground, this pack is excellent. Load lifters help me feel much more balanced, and I’d say this pack felt as comfortable on my shoulders as any 25+lb pack would for a long period of time. Not what you want to be wearing forever, but livable.

Also love not having to worry so much about getting to our hotel/airbnb as soon as possible to stow rolling bags. I never thought I’d be as stoked about different zipper compartments as I am but. wow.

Somehow the simple design makes organizing so easy, and they are SO ROOMY. I always take the front top zipper pocket for granted. I can fit my whole hair dryer just in that pocket alone with plenty of room to spare.

For domestic week trips/weekend/camping trips this has allowed me to carry all that I need without overpacking, which is great. Also side note: My 6’5″ husband went with a different Osprey pack because it was supposed to fit his taller frame better than this one.

But he has admitted that my 42L fits just as well (neither hip belts are honestly that great for him) as that one, and he prefers the organization of mine more too. My undying love for this bag helps me push the trigger on booking more adventures.

I would describe myself as a constant traveler. Between work and personal, I’m on the road nearly constantly and as a result, I’m very picky about my luggage/bags. I’ve got go-to bags for particular kinds of travel.

What I love about the Allpa is that it’s capable of pulling dual-duty. It can be a week long business trip or a weekend adventure. I can shoulder sling it or backpack with it. It’s a GREAT back in so many ways.

That said, there are some oversights on the bag design that range from minor annoyances to “what were they thinking”. They are as follows: Pen/pencil sleeves: Add some pen/pencil sleeves or loops that you can securely store pens in either in the front/top accessory pocket or the laptop storage area (preferably the latter).

This simple addition would make organization much better and finding a pen in a hurry so much easier. This bag is great for business travel but having pens floating around loose in a pocket isn’t great.

Accessory loop: the addition of another accessory loop on the top/right (when shoulder slung) near where the shoulder strap attaches (similar to the one that is located top/left) would be tremendously useful.

Using this to hang a Nalgene (or other bottle that is larger than will fit in the pocket water bottle) while the bag is shoulder slung would allow for the bottle to be kept on the front of the back while slung on the right side of the body, making access much simpler.

Water bottle pocket location: as it is, the location blocks the carry handle when using the pack in shoulder carry profile. It’s simply impossible to use the handle with a bottle in the pocket. There are numerous other locations that would accommodate the pocket without interfering with other functions on the bag.

And finally, the head-shaker. The front/top accessory pocket: should either zip from the opposite side or have double zippers. As it is, when shoulder slung, the bottom of the pocket opens first, which results in: -Any loose items potentially falling out of the back -The pocket must be opened all the way in order to access anything As a result of the design, it’s impossible to open it on the go (e.

g. when making your way through the security line and you need to open it just enough to reach in and grab your passport out of one of the inner mesh pockets while on the move). Either change the zipper to open from the other side (top, while shoulder-slung) or make it a dual zipper config so it can be opened from any position.

You’ll note that there’s a lot of focus above on the bag while shoulder slung. I use it a lot in both configurations. It’s clear that the majority of thought in the design of this bag went into it being used as a backpack, and that’s okay.

At the same time, it is intended to be used both as a backpack and a shoulder slung bag, so it’s important that the design works well in both. On longer trips or trips where I have to take more equipment, I’ve got this back plus a backpack which results in the Allpa being used in slung configuration more often than not.

I took this backpack as a carry on to a week-long trip to Europe and it worked really well for this purpose. I was happy to walk around with it on for hours at a time, although I sorely needed the hip belt to distribute the weight onto my legs and off off my back.

The pocket placement is some of the best of any backpack I have ever used. I had to get used to the lack of accessibility of one of the interior pockets, but once I learned what I should be putting there — clothes, a towel — it was easy to organize the rest of the bag to contain stuff I could expect to need on the go.

I especially like the main compartment access zipper, which I secured with a small carabiner when I was walking around and which attached nicely to the anti-pickpocket loops. The straps are surprisingly comfortable given their thinness and flexibility.

One of my biggest complaints about the bag is that the position my right arm and hand has to be in to put on the straps sometimes causes me to unintentionally loosen them — it’s easy enough to re-tighten, but I expect this would be a big problem for someone carrying a heavier load, since it could put someone off balance.

Fortunately once it’s on, the straps stay securely in place. I also carried a purse. My first day getting off the plane I was able to pack my purse into the top compartment to go hands-free, which really helped add to my experience — I felt both like I didn’t have to worry about whether I had all my stuff, and like I had easy access to it all.

The bag carries approximately three quarters as much as my previous carry-on bag — an unwieldy rolling bag. I found it easiest to downsize on clothes via more careful selection and use of two compression packing cubes, although I actually found that I brought too much clothing on the trip.

I also put smaller amounts of OTC medications in smaller pill bottles. I can definitely see how someone could live out of this bag for months at a time.

I bought the Sunray Spirit Desert print because it is so fun and summery. It’s even brighter in person. I was a bit disappointed to find out that the bag’s patterns doesn’t match the picture; the printed patterns on some Sakroots bags, it seems, don’t match the pictures.

I’d ordered this bag from another vendor before I found it cheaper here, and comparing the two, I saw that the prints differed from each other (as in, where the flowers are on the bag). When you order this, know that it may not look just like the picture.

Don’t get me wrong — it’s still a pretty and funky print. I’m mostly disappointed because I liked the bag from the other vendor more, but I returned it because it was stained (the one I received from Sakroots was in perfect condition).

So far, I’ve worn this out once and walked about two miles with a full 16oz water bottle, a large wallet, and car keys. It was comfortable the whole way. I’ve tried out what will fit, and it holds a standard trade paperback (with some clever arranging) and a lighter sweater, in addition to the water bottle and wallet.

(It’ll hold a 24 oz bottle, no problem). I bought this for urban outings, and it seems it’ll work well in terms of comfort and portability. I particularly like it for art museums where you can’t wear a backpack but a shoulder purse might be too heavy.

One thing that isn’t a huge issue for me but might be for someone else: I am 5’3″ with a petite frame, and I felt most comfortable shortening the strap all the way. That left about 13 inches of strap hanging down from the bag.

I just sort of rolled it around the clasp and loosely knotted it, and that worked fine for getting it out of the way. I have two suggestions for improvement. First, the zippers should open from the bottom, not the top, so you can just pull the bottom of the bag to your side and open it without taking it off your shoulder or reaching all the way up to your shoulder (or the zippers should work in either direction to keep everyone happy).

Second, I carry bags on the left, so this bag works for me, but as others have noted, it doesn’t hang comfortably on the right. Most people are righties who carry on the left, but making the strap adjustable to either side would make the bag accessible to everyone.

Super cute, almost perfect.

This backpack is the prettiest (multicolored one) I own, it’s also the most comfortable. It takes getting use to putting it on properly but when mastered the feel is like it’s not on, when you want to access something you just swing it around and voila.

There are 3 main compartments and has room for all necessities. The one thing that’s missing and is very useful is a key fob. I have one in another backpack and it saves time and frustration looking for keys.

Overall I love love love this backpack and recommend buying it. It’s also a very reasonable price for the quality.

Love this bag! Has some padding which is lovely. Several different compartments for organizing. A cute, almost chambray blue/grey print. I’ll be hiking all over Europe with this. Not bulky. But expands to fit quite a bit of things if you need it to.

I’ll keep my wallet, water bottle, sunscreen and long sleeves in it. All I need for a days outing!.

I have used this bag on 3 medical mission trips and it has been flawless. The material is extremely durable and the backpack is comfortable in the airport. The ability to hide the straps comes in handy for carry on or checking the bag.

The ability to separate the bags and reattached them in under a minute saves so much time and is very convenient. The main attraction to the bag is that it is carry-on compliant in the US. I tend to use the smaller bag as my personal item and day pack and have the main bag as a duffle once I get to my gate.

The versatility to leave your main bag at the hotel and just go explore or do work with the smaller bag works amazingly well. I tend to carabiner my water bottle to the personal bag inside the water bottle sleeve cause it is tight.

Overall this bag excels in the airport and once you reach your destination the personal bag attached is all you need for your day to day travel.

I have been using the Farpoint 55 in the small size for traveling around South America. It has been great. Holds everything I need as well as my work computer which is easy to carry in smaller detachable backpack.

I like how the smaller backpack also easily attaches to the straps of the larger portion for easy carrying when I want my valuables in front of me. I have had no issues with carrying the whole backpack onboard airlines as my carryon, even on smaller foreign domestic flights.

I bought this bag for a two week trip to Japan and it was beyond perfect! With lots of train rides and walking around between hostels, this bag was great to have. It had plenty of room for everything I needed with room to spare for fun souvenirs.

The hidden backpack straps and hip belt made carrying it around very comfortable, and much easier than trying to mess around with large rolling luggage, which made my friends SUPER jealous, especially with the number of stairs we had to go up and down.

The removable daypack was perfect for day adventures when I wanted to leave my clothes and things back at the hostel with enough room for a rain shell, water, snacks, cameras, and any knick-knacks I picked up along the way.

It was also perfect for taking through the airport as my carry-on as it comfortably held my computer and large headphones, so I could kick back and watch my movies on the 12 hour plane ride. The only downside I noticed when using this bag was when I got back home one of the exterior compression strap buckles broke at some point while going through baggage handling.

Its an easy fix, and since it happened as I was getting home it wasn’t an issue at all. I would recommend picking up an Airporter to go along with it for extra protection if you are planning on checking it for a flight.

This is a great backpack, verified weather/water-proof, with expansive space inside. The only problem is there are few pockets to put things, but the up side of that is it forced me to get 5-6 small travel bags for various things that I would usually put into various pockets.

The reason that’s an up side is because it gives me more flexibility to quickly take what I need with me or leave it, sometimes not taking this backpack at all when I don’t need everything, and sometimes taking a different backpack.

This also gave me the idea to take some of these small bags of things that I don’t need every day and just keep them in the trunks of my cars instead, making this backpack I carry with me every day much lighter and able to carry more stuff.

This pack works well whether I’m doing my daily IT work or camping, and I can just leave some small bags behind at home or work depending on what I’m doing that day. With all the room in this pack, plus the expandability at the top when you need to overfill it, many things I carry along with my bag to wherever I’m going can just be put in the pack instead, like small boxes and other equipment, leaving my hands free.

The fact that the interior is just a big hole with a laptop pocket means I can drop anything in there for transport, leaving whatever else I need in small bags at the bottom.

I planned to buy this backpack for quite a while. When I received it, the bag looked exactly as I expected. It’s very fashionable. However, that’s about the only positive I have to say. I’m a college student and I ride my bike everywhere.

Before I purchased my textbooks, I took the bag on a test ride. Right away I noticed how heavy the bag felt which caused the so called ventilation system to be non existent. This bag makes it seem like I’m biking in a kevlar vest.

I didn’t think much about this factor as any bag in the middle of summer will have a similar problem. My biggest issue was when I got my textbooks. I have five main objects that I need to fit in the bag (I pad, a textbook in a 1.

25″ ring binder, u-lock, 16 ounce thermos, and a separate bag with a pump, tire irons, and a spare tube). Nothing to bulky or out of the ordinary. The I pad fits great in the laptop compartment but nothing else worked out.

It’s a struggle to fit my binder in the bag cleanly. If I want it, I have to take anything else in the bag out to get it. With the binder taking up all the room in the only compartment I had to put my u lock in the outer section where it’s designed to have a water bottle.

When I did that it created another problem. I couldn’t even begin to fit my thermos in the opposite holster. It’s not a big thermos either. So, this bag that is advertised to be gigantic and fit tons of stuff isn’t designed to fit one single binder? This was very disappointing.

So I got online and read there return policy and you can’t return a product unless it’s in the regular packaging. How am I supposed to know if I like the product without taking it out of the bag? How am I supposed to know that it’s not designed to fit a regular binder as well as the smallest thermos I could find? Overall the bag is made of great material with terrible engineering.

I’ve been using a $25 Jansport the last 10 years and I wish I could return this bag and get another Jansport.

I’d been happily using the original version of the Chrome Barrage, every single day for the last 4 1/2 years, until I noticed some of the stitching coming loose last week. I knew I could send it in to be repaired, but needed a backpack to use while it was away being fixed.

So with the recent 4th of July sale, I was able to pick up the latest version of the Barrage, on sale at almost $100. 00 off the normal price!!! In a word, “Wow”!!! I thought the old version was spectacular, but Chrome really outdid themselves on the new version, addressing pretty much every gripe I ever had.

The backpack straps now come with d-rings, which I previously had to add myself. There’s now a small accessory zip pocket on the outside of the pack, which the Barrage badly needed. No more Velcro pulls on the backpack straps, which was where my old pack finally started to fall apart.

Now the straps have excellent sewn in accessory loops, which make it a snap to attach a phone pouch. The welding of the tarp liner on the inside of the pack also seems to be better done on the new version.

Any downsides to the new version? I know that some people don’t like the open side pockets, or the cargo straps running just above the side pockets, but I love them just the way they are. I can add something long like an umbrella, frame pump, or tall bottle to the pocket, and then cinch the straps to help hold the item in place.

Tightening the straps also helps to hold small items in the side pockets to keep them from falling out. The old version had a zipper on the inside, so the tarp could be pulled out of the shell. This made it easier to manually dry the bag after getting caught in a soaking downpour.

The new version can’t be separated in the same way, so I’ll just have to wait and see if this makes it harder to properly dry the bag. I think the only thing the bag still needs is a flap to close the inside document pocket.

I often stuff this backpack full in the morning, and the document divider real.

Set my new GoBag up yesterday, carried it today. Love the bag and the quality, like every Dana Designs/Mystery Ranch product I own (5). Couple of ideas for consideration 1) Eliminate the zippered pocket in the front concealment pocket and grow the PALS panel.

Logic: More space to secure magazines, flashlight, etc. The zipper pull has the potential to foul in the trigger guard during re-holster and cause an accidental discharge. I removed it as a safety measure.

2) Add PALS panel to inside main compartment back panel (closest to the body) This would be a great place to carry folding knife, flashlight, pens, spork etc. and could be accessed without exposing a weapon.

Size is perfect and a little more versatility would take it to the next level.

I bought this bag a month ago, as a conceal carry option. The bag is very well made and comfortable. This is a 5 star product. I have given it a 4 because it needs just a little more space to use the molle panels with a holster.

With my molle adaptor and holster it is very tight. With a little more room it’d be perfect. If there is a new update. I’d like to see molle panels on the inside of the conceal carried compartments. So that every pocket can be used with holster systems.

Maybe make the bag more easily accessible with a holster brand. Or better yet create a holster to fit with this ccw series. To utilize the velcro and molle systems. If these suggestions ever go into effect.

I will definitely keep coming back to this brand.

I’ve been using this a cpl weeks now and really like it the layout. I personally don’t condone off-body carry so I don’t. But this is great for extra mags and medical. The few improvements I would make are as follows.

I would like it to be slightly larger, not by much. I like to carry a fair amount of medical so more space for that would be great. And some attachment points would be great so you could attach it to a larger pack or set it up as a chest rig across the shoulder straps.

I would like to by a second one but I’m going to wait and see if they make any changes first. As always Mystery Ranch makes great products, I own a lot of their stuff. Very well made and has never let me down!.

I had been thinking about getting this for nursing school clinical days for a while but I finally bought it and I am so glad that I did. I have a lot of backpacks; rolling, regular, side. I have exclusively used this bag since it came in the mail.

It is well made, the pockets/organizers are nice, I love the way it opens on the top, and that I can carry it on my back or using the top straps. This bag is so cute and practical for daily use. With my wheeled bag, I would tend to overstuff it and dread moving it up and down stairs but this bag carries enough without allowing me to overfill it to the point that I base my day around where I set my backpack down previously 😂 If you can swing it and are thinking about it, I would (and have been) recommend this bag to anyone!.

I bought this for nursing school Clinicals. The pockets are well placed and well organized. It is easy to carry as a tote and comfortable as a backpack. I like the backpack straps tuck away neatly when not in use.

The side pockets are perfect for my 16 oz Hydroflask and large water bottle on the other side. The downside, in my opinion, is the large compartment is much smaller than it looks. I put a spare pair of scrub bottoms, my notebook, stethoscope carry case, and my Tribe RN clipboard in there and really had to finagle to get my lunch bag (slightly larger than a paper lunch bag) in there and close it back up.

I needed about 5 not inches of either depth or width. I’ll figure out how to pack it as I go along. I love the llama pattern – fun without looking childish.

Ideal for on the motorbike. Saves me using the top box. Secure fastenings, waterproof, with an additional waterproof cover. Big enough for my waterproof leggings, packed lunch and drink, phone, wallet and baccy.

What more do you need. Great value.

I really wanted to live this backpack and to retire my old faithful 2018 Dell Professional 17 back, which had Pack all my shut and travelled 3x around the globe to USA, Thailand Taiwan, Malaysia etc.

But this bag some how at many times (2022) has got beaten by a at that time 60 $, I usually pack a few note books chargers(phone and laptop) a 15in laptop, 2 pens and a few days clothes with room to spare in the Dell backpack;And a small Canon camera.

But with this I feel there could be an additional compartment at the front which is deeper, and more use able upright wise compartments. The clam shell design is great but for a travel bag, sometimes you sorta want some privacy and not opening the whole bag to access something at the bottom.

Maybe I’m nitpicking but for future buyers do be wary of hoe to access things. I like the stiffness of the bag and the magnets at the front, but I believe it could be more useful if the ID pocket had a small magnet too.

Also for this current bag the max I could pack is one t shirt one regular m size hoodie not book laptop N charger and it already feels pretty tight and full;Same gear as I used with the dell backpack.

Not sure if it’s a got used to it thing or I’m just breaking in the bag;But at a day to day, I still use the beat up dell 17′ cause for its practicality and ease of access. Also the bloody side pockets are bloody tight when your bag is somewhat full compared to the dell Pro 17 where you CAN still fit your regular size water flask( like a 5inch diameter size).

I feel like some woke guy Design this for woke people that wanna be non woke, and the woke people bit the bait. Idk, just a gut feeling. Hey peakdesign, fly me out so I can show you my 2 year old well used 60dollar dell bag most of the time does the job better.

This backpack has so many features that you can’t even really quantify them all in a single review like this one. Thankfully, Peak Design provides a very helpful video to explain and show all of what this thing can do.

It doesn’t feel nearly as large as it is when you’re wearing it, but it has a voracious appetite for gear. And the versatility is absolutely inasane! You can configure this backpack to haul just about anything and in most cases, I would reach for it before I look at my carryon spinner.

The strap design makes it super comfortable to wear, even when you have a really long walk. Also, it’s built to extremely high quality standards to ensure years of trouble-free use. It’s not the cheapest backpack for sure, but you’ll have no regrets about buying it and you will get your money’s worth.

I looked forever for an upgrade and stumbled on this Peak Design. It’s darn near perfect! It’s minimalist but has handles on all sides and the material is very durable. It’s got padding in all the right places and I love that it opens fully so I don’t have to dig.

There’s a bit of an odd upside-down magnetic “pocket” that’s for rain flies. It’s handy to shove my phone into while it goes through airport security, but it would have been nice if it had been zippered.

Also, I wish the front pocket was a teeny bit deeper. But that’s if I’m getting really nitpicky.

I originally bought the Go Bag Mini a year ago in the Limited Incognito Green and LOVED EVERYTHING about this bag. Then along came the next Limited collection the Moondance edition and the Bougainvillea Pink was calling my name.

I am from Hawaii so the color was as vibrant and tropical as my beautiful island. This bag is my GO TO when it comes to travel. I flew 13 times last year and this bag exceeds my expectations and more.

The amount of stuff it can hold is amazing. (Space bags or compression bags can add even more to your travel needs) All of the hidden pockets are a must and people have stopped me in airports and asked “is that a baboon to the moon bag?” I also bought the Go Bag Small in the same color and they both are the BEST CARRYON I have used.

The mini takes hardly any space at all and prefer to slide it under the seat in front of me and still have enough legroom to move around. The fact that this bag is waterproof, comfortable to carry around and most importantly has a lifetime warranty proves that this company is a GEM.

To start off, I am 5’2 at 120lbs and it sits right above my butt cheeks. I wouldn’t say this has the most comfortable padding on the shoulders, actually there aren’t a lot of padding in that area. The inside compartments are handy.

I purchased this for a two weeks trip to Costa Rica during its raining season. Thinking that this would be perfect for its waterproof feature. As versatile as it is advertised, it actually isn’t. Functionality wise, there would be no way to duffel bag side carry this on one shoulder; especially in this new version that I received, the strap does not detach.

I mainly carried it like a backpack especially if your bag is full then this would be the only comfortable way. I like the overall look of this, but the shell part seems to be easy to get scratched. I like the fact that I did not have to dig everything up like a backpack bc it acts like a duffel bag opening.

I almost wished that it had side pocket nets or rubber straps designed onto the outer shell of it to carry on more items like an extra pair of hiking shoes, sandals, or a rolled up towel. I think I would have to incorporate my own straps or something to utilize the hoops on the sides.

I don’t know if I would’ve picked this if I didn’t want a waterproof backpack/duffel bag with a bit more edgy style. I also wished that the two shoulder straps could somehow attach together so I could hold it like a duffel bag for a more even out weight distribution; not just holding it by the side handle and have the two backpack straps dangle everywhere.

The other options I was looking at would have been eagle creek or north face.

The day before flying out, one of the main clips that keep the straps in place snapped and broke. I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooupset and disappointed.

These bags are very expensive. The slips should be metal and NOT plastic. Although I reached out to the company that same day, I didn’t hear right back from them as they note on there website. I had to reach out via Twitter, and Twitter account responded right away.

Once I was able to make a connection, with the actual company, they offered to either replace the bag in another color since my color was sold out. Replace the broken clip with another alternative color clip or refund the bag.

I honestly don’t even trust a pack of peanuts in the bag but I love the functionality of the bag itself. It’s very unique, the colors are very vibrant and waterproof. One last thing, I wish that this company wouldn’t be like “sneaker drops” but with color drops.

They only make a limited amount of a color and it’s sold out. Then, if something goes wrong with that bag, you’re either debating if you should return it or just keep it. Please stop doing this. Now, I’ll have a purple clip on a neon yellow bag, all because this color was limited edition.

I’m over the limited edition thing, seriously.

I bought this bag to replace a cheap Muji backpack that was hurting my shoulders and also not water resistant enough to deal with NYC weather. I usually travel around town with my laptop, notebooks, and some gym clothes.

This bag is a little bigger than I need for daily life, but it is so comfortable that it’s worth it. The plus size is that it’s big enough for an overnight trip, or even a weekend trip if you pack light.

I purchased this pack in October of 2015. An interesting thing that caught my attention after I began carrying it was that not only had all the straps been cauterized on the ends to prevent unravelling, but ALL THE THREADS THAT THE BACKPACK WAS STITCHED TOGETHER WITH WERE CAUTERIZED AS WELL.

WHAT?! That is some incredible attention to detail, right?! So I’ve now carried this backpack for about 3 years. It’s perfect for stuffing with carabiners and Paracord, my power bank and cables for charging my devices, my 12.

2″ tablet, a pistol, and whatever else I want to fill it with. The compression straps keep it flattened out if you don’t have it stuffed full, and let out for access or if you do have it stuffed. MOLLE attachment straps cover much of the outside, and many mesh interior pouches ensure that you can have a dedicated place for everything! It’s the perfect backpack for your EDC bag.

It may or may not have been referred to many times as my man-purse. So, after 3 years of me carrying this backpack by only one strap, some of the times with my huge tablet, a pistol, and a KelTec Sub2000 folded up in it, along with all my other daily carry stuff, the right strap attachment point began to tear from the strain.

Over the last few months, it’s gotten progressively worse until it was barely hanging on. I finally decided to try Drago to see about getting it repaired or replaced through their Lifetime Warranty. Their customer service has been unparalleled! Communication has been great, and they clearly defined what pictures and information they needed from me.

Once I supplied those, they sent me a UPS tracking number, and I just received my brand new backpack yesterday. I’m going to be a bit more reasonable with the amount of weight I expect this one to carry, and I really expect that it will last me a lifetime.

Bottom line: It costs a bit more than some of the competition. It has more features than the competition, it’s made better than the competition, and if you ever have an issue, customer service is exceptional! Stop shopping and comparing, and buy it!.

I orginally purchased the Drago Hiker bag which developed a hole, tears and frays from defective material/workmanship along handle seam. Drago customer service replaced without issue. This Tracker Backpack is what I recplaced the Hiker bag with even though the Hiker is a more expensive bag.

Drago customer service sent a replacement and I had it within 12 days via UPS. The Tracker is perfectly suited for urban use as an emergency social chaos kit pack that I always have in my vehicle. If you are seeking a big pack for a true 72 hr Bug Out Bag, the Tracker will not fit that role.

This is a versatile compact bag with lots of attachment options on the outside and more than enough room for your kit on the inside. Holds my tactical tomahawk perfectly with the use of the nylon webbing along each side of the backpack.

just slide the handle through the two perfectly placed loops to mount on the exterior of the pack. My kit also contains first aid/blowout kit, extra mags, binoculars, multitool, mini pribar, spare reading glasses, flashlights, notetaking material, flexcuffs, gloves etc, with room to spare.

You cannot go wrong with this bag at its price point and coupled with Drago’s excellent customer support.

I use one as a range bag, sport bag, urban go bag. you name it I use this pack. It is a bit small, BUT it fits the above rolls perfectly. I have (what appears to be identical) 5. 11 bag. This bag is on par or better than that much higher priced bag.

Considering the route 5. 11 has gone in the fast few years with sourcing products, I would dare say this pack is made on the same table as the 5. 11. I have had zero issues with it. And at a bit over a year old it isn’t showing any signs of wear outside of dirt.

the bottom and sides are still like new regardless of the countless ground drags, strap snags, reacting to contact gear drops, numerous rain storms (note it is not waterproof), and being overloaded a several times.
