20 Best Goggles For Skiing (2022 Updated)

My girls were asking for the Roca goggles, while the cost was very reasonable I first went with the Cristo model. Those were very nice and insanely affordable. I then felt bad and got them the Rocas with some lenses.

I have to say the concept of switching lenses is awesome. I’ve been skiing my whole life and I always wanted a reflective lens but when I was younger I bought what I could afford. The reflective lenses back in the day were insanely expensive.

Now I have 4 pairs of goggles and 2 extra lenses I can swap out for the less than the price of 1 pair of reflective goggles back in the day. Thanks for realizing the issue with the price of goggles.

I’d say with these you get what you pay for. While they may not closely compare to smith’s I/O’s it’s at a fraction of the price. I have the Roca’s. I’m definitely hard on things and they have held up really well.

I pulled off just a little bit of foam maybe the size of a dime on the top part of the frame to let them breathe a little better. They hardly fog up now. Just ordered my wife a pair and an extra lens for mine.

Love how easy lens exchanging is. Solid and easy. Will continue to buy this product. Maybe not for you if you get really hot and sweaty skiing/boarding. For the price it was worth a try for me.

I’ve never owned goggles before, but I wear glasses and wear a facemask in the cold and my glasses get fogged up. These seem a little big, but man oh man does my face feel warm. I haven’t yet had the opportunity to try them when the temps are in the teens or single digits but look forward to putting them through the test.

I don’t ski but rather prefer to wear these when I walk to the bus stop in the cold. I also work in a downtown area and have to walk between buildings, so wearing these will make the short walks more tolerable when it’s super cold out.

I like the fact that these came in a nice little pouch as well and had a removable protective layer to peel off before using. For under $20, these seem like a really good value.

I wear a pair of prescription glasses with automatic photo grey lenses, so a clear otg goggle is what Ive been using for day or night skiing. These goggles were much less expensive than Smith, Scott or Bolle, so I bought them only to find they didn’t fit over my glasses.

Too narrow and short, and I don’t wear big glasses. Not a total loss, my son can wear them for night skiing. I will say, they seem like good quality, and were delivered quickly but, thats it. So, now Im waiting for my new Scott goggles to arrive from a different company.

These particular goggles look really cool with the gray / silver reflective lens. However, they do not fit over my glasses. I think I have the average head of a grown man, but my classes were 1/2 inch too wide for the goggles.

I am a 42 year old man, 6 foot 3, average weight.

They’re great, especially for the price. I was dragged kicking and screaming into replacing my beloved circa-2003 Spy goggles because fogging and frosting and failing foam became too much to deal with.

Are these perfect? Well, maybe, but our lovely pandemic infected world makes it hard to gauge anti-fogging because masks just channel condensation right where it doesn’t belong. I could wear my mask wrong or maybe tape it to my face, but I’m not that kind of person.

Oh, I love the lenses (blue chroma? Is that it?). They’ve been a big step up from my So-Cal favoring orange lenses which washed everything out with heavy cloud cover. These let me see well on sunny days, in the midst of clouds, or while riding at night.

They do get dinged for not being great with helmets. I have a sizable head, so I wasn’t going to penalize them for needing to be fully loosened to fit over mine, but when my 13 year old (with a small to normal sized head) had to do the same with their pair of these, well, it seems like the band might be a bit small.

They’re still good, just don’t expect a lot of adjustability on the band front.

The “turbo” version of these originally came with a fan. The latest one has no fan, but the fan mounts are still molded into the frame. So I take the fan out of a disintegrated old pair and mount it into a new pair.

Viola – fan goggles again. But getting new lenses without the view blocking foam covered shutter vents is difficult. Smith removing the fan and now the goofy lens version will terminate this OTG from the marketplace.

These goggles fit pretty well over my prescription glasses once I get them adjusted. My eyeglass frames are on the wide side, too. Slight pinching of the nose. The lens the goggles came with is relatively dark, but Smith sells replacement lenses with different light transmission—a little pricey but worth it for low-light days.

Very little fogging.

Only a couple days on them so far, the lens tiny adjusts seamlessly from low light to bright days, but are still a bit dark for the last runs after sunset if there is no resort lighting. Still need a clear lens for night skiing.

I often pop the lenses forward accidentally when moving my goggles as the natural place to grab them with thick gloves is right where the lens tabs are. For the life of me I CANNOT get the lenses to snap back in place with the goggles on my face, I have to take them off basically every time.

It’s like the soft foam compresses and there isn’t enough counter pressure to snap into place. Pinching through the frame works but you can’t see the tiny tabs you must pinch while they’re on your face, and it feels impossible with thick gloves.

The features that actually hold the lens closed are also tiny and I do not expect them to last very long, I already feel like they are wearing down. If those features won’t grab in the future, the lenses will be flopping around unless you tape them on, but hopefully Julbo’s warranty would kick in.

Compared to my old cheap Smith goggles (like 5 years old and way cheaper), these feel less comfortable and the foam on my nose feels like it blocks more of my downward vision. I love my Julbo photochronic glacier glasses (wear them literally all day in all lighting conditions while mountaineering) so I’m glad to have similar quality lenses when I ski or board but the frame and venting mechanism leave room for improvement.

Hopefully I can figure out the quirks of using them but so far it’s been frustrating. I might try the Smith photochromic lenses if these don’t work out, but I heard those lenses are inferior and scratch super easy.

This is Julbo’s movable model with the lens on plastic arms that snap out from one to several millimeters to create airflow around the lens, or click down to seal. Designed for people that wear glasses while skiing.

In three days of downhill resort skiing I left the lens slightly out at all times and had zero fogging, often a problem with glasses inside a snow goggle. This will also probably ventilate well on the uphill while backcountry skiing.

The google appears a little fragile with the plastic pieces extended out, but had no problem at all during normal use. Can’t vouch for what would happen in a collision with a branch. Have not tried it yet in a dumping powder storm, but I suspect leaving the lens cracked open a small amount would not be a problem.

Quite satisfied with it.

I’m not sure I understand some of other reviews here. If you don’t want removable pieces, don’t order a goggle with removable pieces. Get a normal goggle, of which Julbo has many. As far as I can tell, these are essentially the Cyrius plus the removable vents.

That said, if you have just normal goggles, good luck wearing them while going uphill without fogging. That’s the whole point of the Quickshift. By taking the pieces out, you open huge ventilation holes which should help with fogging.

In my limited testing, it seems to work pretty well. I’ll update once I have some more real world experience to share. And yeah, you have to remember to close the vents before going downhill. No surprise there.

For those that tour, there’s usually some sort of eyewear aspect to the top transition, typically switching from glasses (since you can’t wear normal goggles on the up) to goggles. This is just a different type of transition.

FWIW, the pieces do seem secure while in, so I don’t have much concern about them accidentally coming out (either on my face or in my pack) and getting lost. I was also able to take them out and put them in while wearing the goggle, but that was with bare hands and a mirror.

While I’m sure you could take them out, it would likely be hard to put them back in the field without taking the goggles off. Finally, these have the Julbo photochromic lenses that are so beloved. I honestly can’t recommend them enough.

The pair of Julbo photochromics that I’m replacing has been my single set of goggles for all conditions for the last 6 seasons. I just chuckle at people that carry extra lenses or worry about the right lens for the condition.

Go the photochromic route and stop worrying about lenses entirely. While others are likely catching up, I do believe that Julbo has the best photochromics out there given that they’ve been doing it for decades at this point.

Also, I do think that 1-3 is the sweet spot for photochromics. While you might wish the lens was slightly darker when first stepping out into bright sunlight, the human visual system is pretty amazing and will quickly adjust to where you’re comfortable.

And in exchange, you get great low/flat light performance. 2-4s will be better for bright sunny days but they will leave you wishing they got lighter when the clouds roll in.

Excellent vision in various conditions, but only until they start fogging in between the double lens. The 2 lens are glued together with a porous material (foam) and are not sealed or vacuumed as similar lens from other manufacturers, thus providing possibility for moisture entering in between the 2 parts of the lens and creating a condensation fogging that can be removed only after heating/warming the goggles.

This is very irritating and discomforting, so I do not recommend this goggles to anybody, especially at this price tag. I have noticed that similar products from same manufacturer have the same problem.

The verdict is – STA AWAY from Salomon goggles! This has been tested in temperatures of 0 to -20 deg. C. May be they might work better in temperatures above 0 degC.

Bought these as a backup pair and I’ve actually worn these more than my primary goggles of a different brand. The photocromatic lenses are nice as I ski in multiple different light conditions. I do wish that maybe the lenses got a little lighter for night skiing or heavily overcast days but I also understand the limitations of the lens and don’t fault Salomon for this because the lenses do what they are supposed to do.

These particular lenses do rock in bright conditions and the transition is seamless. Foam is comfy on the face and the adjustment on the straps are easy to make. These fit well over a helmet or without (but you should be wearing a helmet).

No fogging issues and the lenses have been easy to clean. I haven’t had a reason or opportunity to change the lenses out yet but may be buying a spare lens in the near future and will update this review when I pull that trigger.

Usedthe Goggles on two trips now, really pleased with them. Great peripheral view, no apparent distortion, minimal fogging. Good quality plastics what you expect from Salomon. Would recommend.

I purchased this goggle in preparation of 15/16 season, and I’ve used this goggle 6 days with my Giro 9 helmet with varying conditions so far. First of all, the build quality appears to be good. To be a little nick-picking, 1) the strap adjustment buckles on my goggle are not very symmetric when putting into the helmet strap clip, and 2) the goggle did come with a weird smell, which gave a hint of cheapness.

Second, this goggle is very comfortable to wear. I wear this goggle 3 – 4 hours at a time without feeling any discomfort or even noticing its existence. In addition, this goggle can be worn over my prescription glasses with not any issue, though I tend to wear my contact lenses for sport/outdoor activities.

Last but not least, the goggle does provide ample sunlight protection while still allows good visibility in shady area or cloudy condition. I’ve used this goggle during a blizzard a couple of weeks ago without any visibility issue.

In addition, I’ve not had any fog issue during my use (maybe the lens has good anti-fog capability or the good ventilation helped reducing fog. Either way, the result is quite satisfactory). After wearing Winterial’s goggle, I have really been happy with the purchase, and cannot really see why I would want a higher priced (branded) goggle (not yet at least).

If someone is looking for a goggle at a good price (and look well made), I think this goggle is definitely on the top of the list.

Love the fit in combination with my Oakley Mod 1 helmet. They fit very comfortably on my face and accommodate my larger nose. The prism lenses are prefect for most conditions, but I also like that these can be swapped out.

I’ll definitely be purchasing a second set of lenses for the extra sunny days. So far I can’t think of any negatives or shortfalls about the product. Buying and shipping through EVO was a breeze.

If you are looking for some of the best cylindrical goggles out there you’ll want to test out the field of view on these. The Line Miner sits close to your face so you get less frame and more mountain in front of you.

Pick any Prizm lens to match your conditions and you will be blown away by the clarity they offer. I rode these with the Prizm Jade Iridium lens which got me through sunshine and low light at the end of the day with no issues.

Prizm lenses are some of the best out there, if you haven’t tried them now is the time!.

I’m Asian, so a lot of glasses do not fit my flat bridge or fit my rounder face. Usually glasses are too heavy and slip off my nose. These glasses are extremely light and have rubber nose pads, so they stay on my face perfectly and they frame my face well! The rubber nose pads also do not lift my makeup as much as the traditional kind.

My only issue with these glasses is that I can see the hinges of the frames in my peripheral and it’s pretty distracting. Hopefully I’ll get used to it. I got the Tungsten Prizm Polarized pair and they work perfectly for driving, hikes, beach trips etc.

Would purchase again!.

I used the goggles for the evening – night skiing with only one lens and they were good. When I tried adding the extra lens to protect my eyes from the sun – thick condensation developed between the lenses that quickly froze preventing me from seeing.

It was very frustrating. In addition, they have a strong chemical smell. I hope it would go away after a couple of days of skiing, but I can still feel it. Overall, not impressed. I regret not returning them when I first took them out of the bag and the smell of chemicals hit my nostrils.

Initially when I purchased the goggles I was very happy with my purchase and looked forward to using them on the slopes. However after a few days of use I kept noticing the front S3 removable lens was popping out of place and dropping off the goggles.

The lens is held in by four magnets, one at each corner, which secure small tabs on the lens to the goggles. It seemed for anything more than static use, these magnets were not sufficient to hold the removable lens in place.

On the fourth day of my trip, the lens popped off on a chairlift never to be seen again; leaving me with only the S1 lens in place. Either the unit I purchased had defective magnets or the magnet clip design just simply isn’t fit for purpose.

Either way, if looking for interchangeable lensed goggles, I would recommend looking elsewhere for a fixing system with a mechanical link rather than solely a magnetic one.

Good value for money.

I like them just spend 1100 miles in 6 days clear vision with these goggles. I ride a lot on my motorcycles by the Gulf in Florida. they cut back on glare off the water. Guys joked about them then they looked and where surprised.

a Smaller styles with same product would be cool you might get some new sales. What I liked best no air around the eyes which with bugs pollen is fantastic.

Oakley classified this goggle as XM meaning medium size fit. This is overly generous description. Frame will not accommodate wearing glasses , interior space is small. Should not be classified as OTG , frame and lens is best suited for small face or youngsters.

Better to consider the XL model for average size human head. Yellow lens is really night vision or slightly overcast conditions. Dark grey is plenty dark. Still Oakley quality.

Been wearing these googles all season. Love them. They are a mid-size goggle for bright light conditions during all-day riding, interchangeable lens for night/day. Its triple-layer face foam wicks away moisture and keeps you comfortable, while the anti-fog coating keeps your lens clear no matter the temp!.

Used this for a few ski trips now. I’ve been struggling with fogging this season and the extra lens venting on the Challenger does help, beside just looking cool. If you want to avoid fog, make sure your lens are completely sealed (no gaps around the nose or face) and don’t tuck your mask under your goggles.

I’ve already had one person ask my about my Glade goggles on the lift. I’ve used goggles from three major brands now and Glade performs just as well if not better than them. My only feature request is that Glade add some contrast enhancer tech to their already good optics.

Something that would help make bumps and moguls in the snow show up even more.

The reviews I read in Outside Magazine had me intrigued. I wanted to try frameless goggles to see if I could get better peripheral and lower vision. And I got exactly what I wanted with the Challenger goggles.

They fit great against my helmet too. Started out a bit heavy on my nose but that eased up as the day went on. Very, very happy with the purchase. Highly recommend them!.
