20 Best Gold Acrylic Paint (2022 Updated)

I normally paint with acrylics and oils. I recently tried this paint and it’s honestly been hard to paint with any other brand. I originally just brought 4 tubes to try it out, and I’ve been going back for more color options ever since.

I’m used to using Liquitex for their satin varnish/gloss, but their paint did not disappoint. The colors are very vivid and clean. It makes me exited to paint, even when I don’t know what I want to make.

If you can catch these on sale, that’s even better! If you don’t believe me, just try it out. Buy one tube and I bet you’ll be back for more!.

If you have ever worked with fluorescent paints, you know that they are not very opaque to begin with. As you can see in this side by side, specifically looking at the orange, you can see it decently in each photo.

I find that to be very satisfying from a product. The price of the UV paints should not differ from the other colors, and the Basics line is very affordable while still giving quality. I did use all 6 colors available (pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) purple seems to have the least effect with the blacklight on, however, it’s pretty popping in daylight.

I wanted to hate this paint honestly, 15. 99 for a 4 oz bottle of Fold Art paint sounded insane… but from what I could tell by looking at the bottle, the champagne color matched perfectly to this warm metal color I used to get at target but has since been discontinued so I had to give it a try.

And oh my goodness I’m soooo ecstatic! It’s amazing! Worth the price and worth all the time I’ve been searching for this very color!.

I use a lot of Folk Art acrylics, and wanted a more brilliant silver/platinum to use on details. First of all, the packaging. the liner of the cap on the container is cardboard. It absorbed the moisture from the contents, and was a soggy mess.

I poured the product into an empty plastic bottle so that it would not dry out. Secondly, for the price, there was very little difference in the shine of the paint than what a 2. 00 product is. I will still purchase Folk Art brand, but thought you should know this one is disappointing.

I bought this and two other brands of Titanium white paint for acrylic pouring. I could not figure out why I could not get the cells I’ve seen on artist videos. The White gets muddy and breaks down, ruining the who painting.

Only where the white is does it do that. I lucked upon a video that stated a different, lesser brand did the same. They switched to Amsterdam and had no issue so I did the same. Once I switched to Amsterdam White, the problem was solved immediately.

To be certain, I did a number of experiments, ending up wasting a lot of paint, changing only one variable at a time. No matter the medium used or thickness of paint, this Liquitex Titanium White broke down.

just like its lesser brand. I use the other colors of Liquitex with no issue, but the white is a NO-GO for my acrylic pouring. I’ll likely donate what I have left to my friend’s kids for fun. What a waste being I purchased two 32 oz.

Instead of buying pricy acrylic paint that I would normally use to do an acrylic painting on canvas, I bought 7 tubes of this acrylic paint to paint cardboard for a project I’m doing. The colors looked great and I couldn’t wait to get started.

Unfortunately, this paint is transparent and the beautiful bright colors do not look that way unless you use 4 coats. I’m painting cardboard and since this paint is thin and very fluid, it gets absorbed by the cardboard which makes the cardboard warp, especially after 4 coats! I’m not sure what surface this paint would be opaque on, if any.

Going to return the unused tubes. It was not cost effective or time effective bc I blew through a tube just by painting an 8″x8″x9″ box.

I feel that Liquitex primary colors are perfectly designed to mix together well. I was a little concerned because the red looked pinkish, but with time and using it in teaching color theory I have found it to be absolutely right on.

I would highly recommend this product.

The shape and tilt seems to prevent grease from collecting so this has been a huge improvement in my grilling experience, with the prior pieces grease would collect and catch on fire, thus resulting in flare ups.

Now I have no flare ups.

This paint is amazing! I love the variety of colors; smooth texture and it advertises true to color. The Michaels partnership with Plaid is amazing. I always look forward to my Monday night Folk Art Paint Nights.

I am literally purchasing one of every color because of this amazing product. Matte, Satin, Metallic or Neon, worth purchasing all types. The multi-surface version is an additional favorite because I can use it on so many surfaces and know that I will be getting quality effects.

The cost is affordable, and I feel I am not breaking the bank. A little goes a long way and I so appreciate that as well!!!!.

This is not a good glitter paint. For one, it barley has any purple tone to it. You have to paint the surface with a solid color before you apply this. I did not like the finished product. I found using real glitter works way way better as this doesn’t even have enough glitter to hardly show on the surface.

If it shows it comes out in patches and not even. It has the consistency of watery slime with a slight hue of purple. Would be good for kids because it will hardly stain if they paint your furniture instead of the paper.

Kind of like pretend jewelry.

I love liquitex heavy body acrylics. They have a rich pigment and lovely creamy thick texture so you don’t need multiple layers before getting smooth looking coverage. This one is no exception, a gorgeous red.

I also like the tube, other ones I have found can be difficult to open and the caps tend to break so the paint dries in the tube and is wasted. This is a nice user friendly screw crap which doesn’t hurt the hands.

Nice, smooth coverage. I like the selection of colors. Happy that Michael’s carries Liquitex products. Can always depend on Michael’s variety of Liquitex artist products.

I brought the Liquitex Professional Parchment Heavy Body Acrylic for my arts and the painting. The white is very vibrant, dense and soft—suitable for various paint hues. I recommend this product to anyone.

I don’t like to write reviews about paint because, as has already been said, what you are trying to do with the paint and whether or not you buy the right TYPE of paint to do it is usually going to determine the outcome! I am however doing this review because I just read a very bad review and that has NEVER been my experience with Golden brand paints.

Even when I first started painting, my best results were always with Golden paints. The 1st reviewer did not say whether she was using opaque, translucent. fluid, heavy body. she didn’t say so I have to wonder if the problems stem from not mixing the correct kind of paint.

ie: like with like. I rate Golden a 4star only because I think anybody can improve a product. but as it is. it will always be my 1st choice! Pricey, yes. but worth it in the end as the cheaper brands need to be mixed with other mediums etc usually to get anywhere close to desired affect.

My most recent purchase was interference gold /fine and WOW!! A little bit goes a long way. and a lot, is just that much better! Again. with ANY brand paint. unless you get that 1 bottle that truly is a bad batch (and it happens) you usually get what you pay for, and Golden is wort the extra $ ! Thank you for a great product! Now if Michael’s would carry a better range of colors so I didn’t have to wait for the mail.

I have been experimenting with Golden Fluid ACRYLICS on a Gelli Plate and mixed media collage. The depth of color and trasnparency can produce very interesting and rewarding effects. A little goes a long way, which can be a consideration when just starting out and trying to determine what level of investment to make in materials.

Quality really can make a difference. This line also includes colors that are opaque and the labeling shows the level of coverage which is very helpful. When I have brought this product to group art sessions with family and friends, they are always amazed at what they can do with these paints.

I hardly ever leave reviews, but couldn’t help but feel obligated to say something about the first persons review. Who obviously has no experience working with this particular type/brand of paint. Mixing and stirring isn’t your issue.

Obviously, I do very little mixing (usually you just shake the bottle) but if you’re mixing multiple paints together. A lot of times. I put the paint into a separate tube or small,container to mix for literally 10-15 seconds.

The reason why they are streaky for you, is because they are Fluid acrylics really meant to be used with airbrush, paint markers, etc. So the consistency is much more fluid, therefore, it’s not going to be an opaque solution that you can glob on with pallete knife.

It’s almost like it’s close to a watercolor paint, or if you added a lot of thinning/airbrush medium or even a lot of water to a normal soft or heavy body acrylic. Golden makes a very high quality paint and are one of the few companies that are exploring and raising the bar by creating these new fluid acrylics on a professional level.

I use these paints all the time, because of their unique attributes, yet one needs to know what is the right time and place for these pants in order to use them appropriately and get the intended and desired effects.

No disrespect intended for the first reviewer, but when noticing how many other customers found their review “helpful”, I felt it was my artist-teacher responsibility to verbally illustrate accurate facts because the first review was extremely misleading.

I do not work for Golden, I didn’t even give them 5 stars because they can improve this product but it is a very good product and not like anything the first reviewer said. and any potential customers that read her or my review should at least try it for themselves because personally, I feel it’s one of the highest quality product / brand in the fluid and high flow acrylics field.

the product is a high enough quality where it is definitely6 worth giving it a shot, where you can personally make your own decision on whether to continue using them or not. just remember that they are Fluid acrylics so using them appropriately when you want a very fluid and liquidy type paint is important.

There is a time and place to correctly use every type of product and knowing when to use that certain type will greatly affect year-end results.

I am not thrilled with this color. I generally like Lumiere Metallics by Jacquard, but the quality varies with the color of the paint, some cover in 2 coats, some don’t cover all the way after 4 coats! I finally contacted the manufacturer and was told that Super Sparkle has larger sparkly bits in it than some of the other colors, so I guess this problem with spotty coverage on my frame is to be expected? This paint is too costly to take a chance on a poor result! I will have to rethink any further Lumiere purchases.

The colors of Jacquard Lumiere paints have different properties. I recommend looking it up on the brand website before choosing. The paint is thick and coats well on various surfaces. You can also dilute it quite a bit and add a sparkly layer to a painting.

It is not particularly good for line work. A flat coat of this paint tends to show brush strokes. It is better for a looser style, or in layers. It is a beautiful range of colors, which are vivid and rich.

Beautiful colours. Superfast delivery as always and a very good price. Have found these paints to be funny compared to my others but I’m sure with a pouring medium gel will help thicken them up, as I use them for dot art.

So need them to be thicker. But do love them and I do all my deliveries from you!.

I’ve been a loyal customer for some time now abs no I was over the top excited when I purchased your pouring paint set the first set was fabulous, to say the least, my pieces came out totally awesome!!! But!!! But in the most recent set of pouring paint, I purchased there was something different something off in the product and it reflected in my work.

What’s different did the formula change if so please please revise it.

As always, I found the quality of my fluid acrylic paint to be excellent. The color is beautiful and rich, mixes with pouring medium well and maintains its beautiful integrity after I added water to create a thin consistency.

Also, there was a shipping problem and the Arteza Customer Service team was incredibly helpful and super fast! Great company to buy from.

These are a nice medium weight paint. These are filled with lots of pigment and shimmer so the glazing reveals lots of subtly and sparkle. These are great for glazing and lots of other Gelli printing techniques.

The lighter iridescents provide lots of shimmer and a hint of color. I love these and will definitely make sure to keep them in stock.

I use to paint for fun in the past and decided to come back to it after a few years break. I’m on a budget so I bought this 24 paint set just for the fun of it to get reacquainted with painting again.

Big Mistake! The color variety you get in the box is great, but I regret not listening to my original instincts and buy separate paint tubes from a brand that stands by their quality like I did the first time I started painting.

The colors are too transparent, lightweight, lacks vibrancy/ isn’t true to their color name. For example, Cadmium red isn’t truly cadmium red like other higher quality brands. I would only recommend this set if you want to play around with the idea of painting and color mixing or wish to decorate small items like a jewelry box or letters for a playroom.

If you want to create an ambitious landscape painting, please look elsewhere. Splurge on the higher quality paint. Now I have to go back to Blick to buy better paint which I don’t mind as I love the store! I’m glad the tubes are small so I don’t feel like I wasted money really.

I’ll try to use it out in someway.

I really do love these paints. First off. the consistency is really nice and solid. Its got a wonderful buttery feel to it. They blend well with a pallet knife and mix well on the canvas. Second. the strength of the colors is also very nice.

I’ve noticed that there is almost no “greying down” when the paints are added to mediums or mixed with white. The color stays strong and vibrant. Third. the range of colors provided in this particular kit is a great value.

There are the basic primary colors. basic secondary colors and warm and cool versions of each as well as a nice black and white. Fourth. while i would love the tubes to be bigger these small ones that come in the nice box are perfect for travel and or on location painting.

Final assessment of these paints: You get your moneys worth and they are totally worth adding to your acrylic collection.

This is the second time I have bought the 48 colors set of Blick Acrylic Paints and both times I have been absolutely satisfied. These paints have arrived soft and fresh, never dried out like some other brands I’ve bought.

These are medium bodied, work flawlessly on canvas and wood block but also on crafting thongs. The colors once painted with on canvas have not faded after being hung for 5 years. You can build texture and layers, additives work well and they work great wet-on-wet using a gesso.

The 7ml tubes are enough to last over a year for painting frequently. I’ve even hosted a paint party with these. Excellent and I’ll never buy other the Blick acrylic.

You might want to do your own experimenting, but I can say that this stuff definitely cracks. I made sure to let the colored paint dry thoroughly before using the crackle paint, and I also made sure not to disturb the crackle paint much as soon as I painted it on.

The crackle paint was a bit of a thicker layer that I slapped on and didn’t spread around too much. The directions are a little confusing. It says “brush over basecoat of acrylic color. Once dry, cracks will appear.

They will be more visible under second coat of contrasting color. Use varnish to protect coating. ” To be clear, this stuff cracks the layer that it is painted ON, as in, the “basecoat” is the layer that gets cracked.

I don’t understand the wording of the instructions saying the cracks will be more visible UNDER a second coat – it seems it would just fill in the cracks a bit if it was under a second coat. I dunno.

I attached some photos to show you my experience. I had gray primer, then I painted a layer of black, and then painted on the crackle stuff. Then I painted a wash of red. I think I was supposed to paint red, then paint black on top, and then the crackle on top.

I’m no expert though. But like I said, it gives you cracks. No peeling unfortunately, but definitely crackle.

This putty works great IF you understand what you’re getting and how you’ll use it. First off, this putty DOES NOT dry rock hard as the description and bottle says it does. As others have said, it dries to a “rubbery” consistency and isn’t really sandable.

It is water soluble so you can remove excess putty with water. Knowing those two things, I use this putty for filling small gaps or fixing deep out of scale panel lines. Here’s how I use this putty. I take a toothpick and cut one of the sharp ends off.

I then take a pair of pliers and compress the end to make it flat, like a small trowel. I put a small amount of the Vallejo putty on the flat end of the toothpick and work it into the gap, adding more putty as needed.

I wait about 10 – 15 minutes and wipe away the excess with a damp cotton swab, leaving the putty in the gap. The goal isn’t to build up a large amount then sand it down but to get the putty into the gap where it can harden.

To test the line, I airbrush a layer of black primer over the gap. If more filling is needed, I repeat the process. So far, I’ve been able to get pretty decent results.

Im using this product for details on doll repaints: eyes, lips, etc. Its the perfect size for use on dolls and miniatures, and Im very happy I found this instead of wasting more money on a large bottle I would never use up.

I leave it to dry overnight after applying and by the next day its good to go. It has the perfect amount of gloss without being overly shiny. The only complaint I have is that one area I applied it to is still slightly sticky feeling; the varnish isnt coming off, it just has a strange texture to it.

This may be because I applied too much without allowing the first layer to dry, so dont knock the product just based on that. For a doll that isnt going to be getting touched, the tackiness is nothing to worry about.

Overall, I highly recommend this product for anybody looking to add gloss to details and small areas of their projects.

… I believe the burst tube was caused by it being put in a unpadded, single layer, very thin plastic type envelope. …. Unfortunately, am so excited to open my supplies from Arteza, that,I usually sit on my porch to open my mail, so… when I opened the envelope?… well… ….

purple was immediately all over everything! as the whole envelope was full of purple paint, but the inside of the tube (where the paint was Supposed to be)…not so much. …My loyal ( and very nosey) companion, (whose nose has to be anywhere my hands are), is big standard curly red Poodle.

So…. he,myself, my clothes, the door and door knob were covered in paint. …While we did eventually clean up pretty good. …I have to say “Einstein” (who hates all things bath or showers)…. IS pretty put out, about the whole thing, and he asks that the Ware house, “please package our paints a bit better?”….

…. Also he insists, that as far as he is concerned…. they owe him a cookie!! …. But,as for me…. I’m good with just the great and timely service,that I received. …… Thank you!.

I have been happily using a number of colors for a few months. The pigment load is great. The coverage is good with no unwanted transparency surprises. Thank you for making a true Ultramarine Blue since other reputable companies have most all their blues in a Phlalo tint.

The only arteza blue I find lacking is Cobalt blue. It is a medium to light violet blue, NOT a cobalt blue. I had to substitute a Liquitex blue to even get close. The violets you offer and the deep reds are some I cannot find elsewhere.

Bravo! The Burnt Umber is not as dark as it should be. If it were me, I would switch the VanDyke formula and call THAT burnt Umber. But I need a dark brown so I am happy i discovered this. I also love the pearl colors for glazing.

These high flow acrylics are the business!!! They have a great shelf life and work well in pretty much all airbrush machines! Since using this product I haven’t had a need to stray anywhere else. Oh and availability!!! They’re sold at all of the major arts and craft stores! That includes Amazon! Not like the others that you have to play a Squid game to find.

Last not but least Golden High Fluid Acrylics have an array of vibrant colors available. Definitely check out this brand. You won’t regret it. Signed a seasoned/professional artist.

Golden High Acrylics have added a new dimension to my paintings. I use them in combination with both Golden Fluid and Golden tube acrylics. Golden High Flow acrylics are dense and great for high coverage.

I use them with a dip pen for fine detail and also with various brushes. I recommend these Golden high flow paints as they are a great addition, with multiple applications, to the other Golden medias.

This ‘color’ has so much gloss to it when dry that using a graphite pencil to do the shading would likely give better or equal results. It’s about twice as glossy as other gloss finish paints I have and practically a mirror next to the matte finish paints.

If you’re looking for a chrome effect, get this shading grey! Otherwise, I hope this saves someone else some money as these golden products are very expensive as is.

I’m waiting for the issue with ‘clumpy white’ to be resolved, and then I will be ordering more. It needs to be its former, smooth consistency. Meanwhile, I am blending Titanium White with a fine roller prior to mixing with other Createx Acrylic Colors.

This is absolutely my go-to multi-purpose acrylic that does not clog my silk-screens. Years ago I ordered gallon sized quantities directly from the manufacturer when I did art residencies in Minnesota public schools.

Currently I rely on Dick Blick! I trust this issue will be resolved by Createx.

I’ve used Createx for fabric gadget printing before and it worked really well as long as I did my part in keeping my gadgets clean and not gunked up. When directions are followed and ironing the fabric from the back is done, the items are washable.

Createx can also be diluted with water and used as you would use acrylic paint, so it’s very versatile.

Createx acrylic paints have been my go-to for large scale projects and murals for some time. They are difficult to find, but always available on dickblick. com. They have the perfect opacity for coverage and color vibrancy.

The only criticism I have is over the course of time (and we’re talking over a year) they paint will start to lose consistency in the bottle. But upon immediate use it’s ideal.

This really helps me out. Thinning for my airbrush. Much better then distilled water. Helps out Tip Dry. Thinning your paint is a must.

It’s my wife’s favourite color and wanted a model painted that shade; so I had to buy it. It’s actually a nice shade. Air brushes very nicely. Happy wife, happy life and let’s me but more models.

Great results. Good coverage and no thinning needed when I used my 0.3 mm air brush nozzle. Have several colors of this product and have always had a positive outcome.

Amsterdam is my go to brand for painting my abstracts. I was excited to receive this particular color it was exactly what I needed for a project I am currently working on. It has a nice shimmer and gives that extra pop.

Side note. Michaels was quick and prompt with this order. I do wish they sold Amsterdam Paints in larger amounts.

Amsterdam paints are great. Michael’s shipping. not so much. When I opened the bubble envelope this item was shipped in, I found paint, both dried and wet, all over the envelope and jar as well as bits of plastic from the smashed lid.

Michael’s fulfillment needs to package items like this much more securely. I returned the jar and received a refund.

is a very pigmented opaque neon orange. I use it in fluid art and I adore the whole “reflex” line. The paint is just like regular Amsterdam paint in consistency and blendability with other mediums: it is very smooth, creamy and it mixes well with all of the various mediums that I have combined it with.

I *LOVE* working with Amsterdam standard acrylics and I would highly recommend them. They are more than other brands, but I do think that they are worth it.

I bought 2 tubes of this paint in Prussian blue and Paynes grey and both tubes were only good for maybe 2 uses then they were pure giant clumps that would not even squirt out of the tubes. I had to actually cut the top of the tubes off to remove the giant clumps and was left with very very little usable paint !!! They had not sat for a long time between uses and were stored at room temp and hard to believe they could have been sitting in the store for very long as they are both very popular colors and rarely in stock.

so what I thought was a lucky find ended up being a complete waste of money. Only good thing about then was that the colors were very nice. I will not purchase again. 8.

I stenciled a vine on a canvas tent top on turquoise and pale yellow fabric. Dried in one hour. I tried to scrub it off with a scouring sponge. It held up to water, friction and did not crack. It looks incredible! I recommend this product.

Easy cleanup.

We restore antique chandeliers for a living and frequently need an unusual color to touch up the scratches on a 20p year old fixture. This greenish gold was perfect for faux painting the repairs we just made to a beautiful antique high value fixture.

Great value! I’ve used this only on smaller (1/72) aircraft exhausts and have achieved good results to date on these smaller scale models. I suspect it’ll be equally as good on my larger scale models.

So to date I’m happy to recommend this product.

As all Vellejo paint it’s really good. However I will say that the colour shown on the image is very different to the colour of the actual paint. It is much more vibrant and way brighter, so keep that in mind.

I used this to brush small areas. It brushes smooth and looks good. This color is a lighter shade of red, not a deep red.

I really like this product, it is already mixed, it saves time, space and is really a good product for my pour paintings. I love this Titanium White. I have been telling all my friends about it. The cells it makes and the webbing it does in my paintings is just fabulous.

Its my new favorite paint.

Hands down this is the best acrylic premixed pouring paint I have come across! I love the consistency, its perfect! Colors are very pigmented and brilliant. It drys quickly so I would recommend a retardant unless youre confident and quick, but the finished piece is phenomenon! I prefer these over any other paint Ive used so far! I highly recommend these if youre a serious artist! I promise you will not be disappointed!.

A true, bright gold with a subtle sparkle. Thalo Gold is perfect for painting sunshine. Grumbacher paints always have a thick, creamy consistency and plenty of pigment.

I’ve just started trying this paint for paint pouring. Typically I’d use Amsterdam or liquitex etc but I’ve just started trying grumbacher and it’s absolutely amazing! Can be used with a pouring medium (&& floetrol) but even works beautifully with just water as well! Very highly pigmented.
