20 Best In Ears For Singers (2022 Updated)

Much anticipation of arrival of recent purchase after years using consumer Bose in-ear’s for casual music listening but also live stage monitoring when playing keyboard. Very smart packaging and carry case is a nice touch.

Cables and fittings and well thought out and obviously built for comfort and durability. First test playing keyboard at home – exceptional clarity particularly in the mid-range, well balanced across the spectrum except the low end – with a stated frequency response of 20hz upwards, I just didn’t hear/feel the low end (like I hear with my Bose’s).

Hoping it’s just user error and am currently reaching out to support as I would have expected better low response at this price bracket. Overall, excellent quality in-ear monitors.

This is my first set of IEM’s. They replace closed back headphones that I had been wearing to monitor vox for practice. These are extremely clear and can go loud. Bass is precise and proportionate. Vocals are very, very distinct, clear and articulate, making nuanced, expressive singing much easier to accomplish.

I use these for basic mixing too, as they are sufficiently true and accurate across the frequencies. Although obviously monitors or open back ‘phones would be preferable for mixing, these get the job done and done well.

They are comfortable to wear, discrete and seem well made. Cables and fittings all good too. I can heartily recommend. If it’s just for monitoring vox or guitar/keys etc, then the ath e50 IEM would probably be amply capable too.

Everything is great, as expected. Shipping was ultra fast and earphones sound great. Few things to keep in mind: these have a 1. 5 meter cable, which is longer than the standard for earphones and they are way more sensitive than other earbuds so that results in bigger volume ( I never listen on maximum on my phone).

I have been a fan of Etymotic gear since I bought my first ER4 many years ago. Clarity, purity, and intense detail are hallmarks of this brand, and I know of no other IEM that approaches the Etymotics in this area.

The ERs reveal detail in recordings that surprise, astonish, and reward the listener, and I can always rely on them to present information in my recordings that I never knew was there. The old ER4 is a champ in that regard, and the ER3XR has 90% of that capability.

However, while there is a small tradeoff from the ER4s in that crystaline presentation of mids and highs, and a bit less sense of space and air between instruments and notes, the ER3XR rewards the listener with a richer, deeper bass that is missing in the ER4.

When I use my ER4, I often boost the bass so that it has a more balanced presence. The ER3XR, on the other hand has that already, along with another octave or two of low-end oomph that equalization alone cannot provide.

I welcome that tradeoff in certain genres and recordings, where pace and rhythm benefit from a robust foundation and a wide frequency range in music reproduction. I also own a pair of the ER2XR, which is similar to the 3, but with a noticeably lower amount of secret sauce.

Bass in the 3s sounds subtler because it is more controlled and better refined. Mids and highs have that Etymotic magic, to a greater degree than the 2s. The difference between the 2s and the 3s is much more substantial than the difference between the 3s and the 4s.

In the latter case, the bass boost is the obvious standout, with the slight reduction in detail that I mentioned earlier, that may not even be obvious without a direct comparison to the various versions of the ER4.

So, with the ER3XR, you get a big slice of the Etymotic pie with a substantially smaller price tag. Like all Etymotic IEMs, these perform best with deep insertion in the ear canal, and some will find that uncomfortable.

I find that the grey foam tips work the best for me. I also have used pro ear tips from Comply that aid in both achieving the necessary insertion depth and creating the exceptional isolation these provide (think “noise reduction”).

If ample bass and magical mids and highs are what you crave, I suggest trying Comply tips with the ERs. However, the range of tips that come with the ER3XR provides many options for finding a balance between comfort and the isolation that is necessary to get the bass performance that these guys can provide.

These newer ERs also have a better cable (much less microphonic) and cable management that the old ER4, which makes using them yet more satisfying. I still return to the ER4 when I want to mine the most information from the recording, but the ER3XR is not far behind, and is now my go-to when traveling or just looking to disappear into the music with delivery by IEMs.

They have excellent isolation (great for air travel), unrivaled detail, and now greater pace, rhythm, and timing enhanced by clean, clear low frequencies. They are not bass-heavy, though – look elsewhere for head-banging bass if that is what you crave.

But for a satisfying balance in music and the opportunity to discover hidden gems in your recordings, the ER3XRs are a great choice at a very reasonable price.

I bought mine here when <$100US, because so many had said that they were an analytical reference point as well as Etymotic's storied history in IEM. Quick background: former classically trained bass player so I might lean toward being a bass-head.

I personally prefer open-back over-ear cans for the soundstage, especially after I heard a pair of iGrados for the first time. I listen to a very wide variety of musical styles (but relatively little modern pop music due to the loudness-wars stuff) – my personal faves, in no particular order, would probably be TOOL, orchestral symphonic works, Imogen Heap, Blue Scholars, Yosi Horikawa, pre Bebop-thru-Hard Bop jazz including current players who refer to those eras, and SNFU (certainly not too audiophile – especially the first album from back when I was still skating).

I really enjoy my Senn 560Ss, Focal Clears, HE5xxs, and 7Hz Timeless. Sources: mostly digital through LG V60 and Zen Dac V2, though it’s entirely satisfying thru internal DAC in cMacPro via old Kenwood stereo receiver.

Oh, and Dual TT with Grado Gold cart (best upgrade ever) thru the internal Kenwood pre. I was afraid, at first, of the discomfort I expected from insertion of the Etys into my canals, but it turned out to be no problem that I can tell.

I have problems with fit, as I think I might have larger-than-average outer ears, leading to poor bass response. I ended up using the foam tips that were included, because they provided the best sub-bass response without losing the delicacy of the top.

I bought some Comply Premiums, but I haven’t decided if I prefer them yet to the stock foams. I find that I can forget them being in my ears about as much as I can forget the Timeless in-ear with Sedna tips (firm for more lows).

When comparing the 3XRs to other IEMs I’ve tried, they outclass the Tin T2s (original with stock tips or with Sedna tips), especially in bass and sub-bass. They definitely outclass BLON BL03s, though I have fit problems with them.

Moondrop Chus are shockingly good for the price, but low-end information is simply covered by the higher sounds in an unbalanced way, and the 3XRs deliver the same quality of treble/mid detail to me with the addition of bass support for the sound, and even some impact (hesitate to say “slam” though).

Comparing these to Timeless seems to be the closest comparison for me, which seems appropriate, given the cost. I also feel like the immediacy of the sound is rather similar, despite being very different driver arrangements.

I find that choosing between the two when listening seems to revolve more around comfort and convenience than sound quality. I’ve put my Timeless onto Fiio TWS3s, and they seem to power the Timeless sufficiently in a way that my LG V60 couldn’t via cabled output.

I haven’t been able to test the 3XRs in a balanced config yet, though, due to lacking an appropriate cable; I’d be surprised if it was a night-and-day difference though. All in all, I’m very grateful that Drop was able to offer these at this price, as I’m very satisfied.

I’m in no rush to put down over twice as much for 4-series Etys though. HTH!.

After reading a million comments on the amazing detail reproduced by these etymotics, I finally decided that I had to try them out. I honestly figured I would be disappointed because I thought there was no way a sub $100, single BA IEM could possibly reproduce music with as much detail as the reviews I read suggested.

I also expected to find them lacking in bass for much the same reason, though I went with XR in order to preemptively remedy this as much as I could. Damn was I wrong! If anything these Etys produce more detail than I read about especially when paired with a quality DAC/DAP and some hi-res music files.

The bass certainly seems to exist in perfectly reasonable quantities to my ear and the whole sonic range is produced with crisp, detailed, accuracy creating an overall sound characterized by tight, tonally balances musical reproduction.

The Etymotic ER3XR are clearly worth every penny! I am one satisfied customer! Edit: After months of enjoying the ER3XR, I happened upon my own review and felt the need to add a couple tips from my experience.

First, adding Comply Professional foam tips is the way to go for both the best comfort and great isolation. The Comply Ps beat all the stock tips, the new Ety double flange, Westone Star tips, Final E tips with adapters, and the Shure olives.

I have tried all of them while also trying the ER4 and ER2 series IEMs. Second, a nice cable upgrade is totally warranted. The stock cable isn’t bad, but an upgrade from LunaShops (the vendor I used and can recommend) or another seller of your choice to something less microphonic and a bit more robust makes for a much better experience, IME.

The IE 600 is almost there. You might not make it to the top of the proverbial audiophile mountain with it, but you’ll be so close with a moderately priced IEM that you might not care. Comfort is top notch, sonics are 90% there if you dig a U shape, and the build is phenomenal.

My only complaint is the cable. Microphonics are excessive, so walking with the stock cable is a no. Otherwise, buy with confidence.

I bought the ie600s a few weeks ago. Initially, I was a bit underwhelmed. However, after a couple of days they seemed to settle in and with good fitting warriors and listening to them more I was totally taken by them.

For detail and enjoyment these are amazing. They’re great with all genres and really shine with complex pieces of music, especially classical. They’re also very well built (made in Ireland).

I don’t know how sennheiser has done it, but it has managed to make the most comfortable IEM I’ve tried and they’ve managed to squeeze out some of the best sound I’ve heard from a pair of tiny 7mm dynamic drivers (tiny compared to its peers), it’s german engineering sorcery, this maybe the IEM endgame for most, does need a good dac to pair with for the best sound thou.

this is easily better sounding than the HD 650 headphones. No ear fatigue either yet. If this is this good, I can only imagine how the IE 900 will sound like.

The IE 900 is an awesome earphone. This review is based on ~30 hours of listening over two weeks. My listening was done mostly with an iFi Gryphon and Tidal on my iPhone or Mac. I compared these to my CIEMs that were top of the line about eight years ago, and another company’s flaship universal IEM.

What differentiates the IE 900 the most is how musical they are. Also, they are resolving and clear, and they have an even frequency balance. Single-driver technology is really a wonderful thing, but it is so hard to do well.

Arguably, the key advantage provided by headphone listening, as compared to speakers, is the possibility to have a single driver. There’s just something special about the single-driver design. Compared to my other IEMs, which areo balanced-armature multi-driver designs, I found the IE 900s to be more musically satisfying.

I think it is reasonable to attribute this to phase coherence, but who knows. As far as detail retrieval and full bandwidth, my CIEMs were on par with the IE 900s, and the 900’s were far ahead of the other company’s flagships.

For the more musically engrossing experience these provide, I’ll be retiring my CIEMs and sticking with the IE 900’s. HeadAmp’s generous demo policies made it an easy choice for me to give these a try.

Even though I already have several good IEMs, I’m keeping these for sure!.

This is a review of both the IE 300 and the IE 900. I’ll copy paste it in both sections. Firstly, accessories (ear tips and cables) are a massive middle finger from Sennheiser to the buyer. The included silicon tips are absolute bottom barrel trash.

They can not seal for me and while pulling one off the IEM it ripped the tip from the stem. The foam tips are useful and help me get a good seal, but I’m using them sparingly, because, like all foam tips they won’t be too long lived.

Replacement tips? The cable is sticky, tangly, fights you at all times. The cables of the 900 feel a little softer and less sticky, and there are 3 of them, but still these are far form decent for the price.

Sourcing a good replacement cable will be a problem because of the non standard termination. I have bought a replacement cable “Tiandirenhe cable for IE 300, 600 and 900”. It feels flimsy and cheap, and I’m not hopeful as to it’s longevity, but that cable in feel is a humongous upgrade.

I fail to see how a leader in the audio industry is so clueless. I was reading a discussion on a forum where Sennheiser reps. , on being asked if they could recommend a replacement cable asked a person what the problem with the stock cable was.

Both the IE 300 and IE 900 are comfortable and after trying different ear tips I’ve found the best ones for me are the included foamies and Spinfit CP100 plus. It’s unfortunate Hpz doesn’t sell the CP100 plus.

Also sourcing the original foam tips might be a problem. The seal is fidgety and while I can maybe attribute that to my ear shape being wrong, these aren’t my first IEMs. Sound is simple. both of these are basically detailed, pleasant with a good amount of bass.

Having said that The IE 900 is FAR better than the IE 300s. More resolution, better imaging/ staging and bass. So much so that IMHO the IE 300 are bad value at their price and the IE 900s, while not good value get a pass because the summit fi section has insane pricing anyways.

In fact I thought my IE 900s were broken and were imaging off centre because of the extreme positioning capability. I sent them in for warranty and they returned them saying its fine. I was still not convinced and as a final resource played tracks on mono.

the image was dead centre. Basically when you have multiple vocalists close to centre, the IE 900 can locate them precisely. This review sounds ranty, and that’s unfortunate. The headphones are good but are let down by the absolutely trash accessories.

They could learn a thing or two from brands like Fiio. At least the carrying boxes are pretty. Bottom line. IE 300s, OK, but 10k chi-fi is competitive. IE 900s, GOOD. They know it and have priced them accordingly.

No Words for me to say about this IE 900 IEM. Even if I say more it will be very less. That much perfection in sound. Firstly, I thank my new friend Pritam ( The Audio Store Co-Founder ). He helped me by asking about my taste in music and came up with the best for me.

9 Rating or 9. 5 from Audiophiles. Any website or Video everyone says is the best. It is exactly the same as mentioned on sound. Sennheiser has come with their experience on this IE 900 IEM. They are very well built material Aluminum when you put them in-ears feels like nothing was there.

Such a good comfortable if you carry on your hands feel noting weight. The first impression of me was comfort. Then I started playing with Iphoine 12 + 3. 5 Jack + Apple Dongle Jack. It’s a very simple setup not used any Dac/Amp then I started playing Dangreos By MJ.

I can’t really explain my experience with the first impression. The instrumental part was Awsome!! Drums have kick bass. Guitar strings will make you simple 🙂 Sound Stage will be like Auditorium. Vocals are a blessing Gift for this IEM.

The bass is mindblowing and you keep repeating the song for that kick and experience. You play anything it sounds exactly the same as how the musician thought to deliver the end of the listeners. That all will be delivered without any other expensive AMP DAC.

That’s the beauty of IE 900. The big joke is it’s a 7 MM Driver don’t how they designed this IEM. It can be done only with the experience of 75 Years as a sound engineer like Sennheiser. Great Job by Sennheiser Team.

Shure è una garanzia, monitor in-ear comodissimi da usare, anche nei live e per diverse ore. Occhio a non sbagliare dx con sx. C’è un puntino piccolissimo Blu per la Sx e Rosso per la Dx. L’ho imparato dopo due mesi!.

Non do 5 stelle perchè sono rimasto leggermente deluso dalla risposta nei bassi, che per quel che costano mi aspettavo qualcosina in più, tuttavia le utilizzo con molto piacere e dopo quasi due anni di utilizzo mai un problema.

Delusione totale. Le avevo acquistate pensando di migliorare la qualità in confronto a quelle che usavo, delle Kz As10, pagate 50 euro, invece sono andato peggio. Molto più scomode da indossare (il gommino da inserire è troppo poco sporgente dal resto del corpo dell’auricolare) e la qualità sonora è inferiore.

Nettamente percepibile la differenza con Shure SE235 gi buone. Ammesso che si ascoltino file lossless da una buona fonte. Queste cuffie, se adeguatamente foraggiate, restituiscono un suono pulito e ricco di particolari nella gamma dei medi e alti i 3 driver si fanno sentire.

Fondamentale la scelta dei gommini adeguati, senza dei quali ogni valutazione risulterebbe inutile. A tale proposito, buona la dotazione di serie, ve ne sono per tutte le esigenze. Unico neo, a mio parere, il jack audio con filo connesso in verticale, pi fragile rispetto al tradizionale attacco a 90.

E anche vero che il cavo di ricambio ha un prezzo pi che accessibile.

IšverstiShow in original languageMy first IEMs were the Triple. Fi IEM’s from Ultimate Ear. It introduced me to a world of such clarity, good bass, and clear treble (but with harsh sibilance). My next IEMs were Westone4’s followed by Audeze iSine 20s.

Neither seemed as good as the Triple. Fi to me and I largely stayed away from IEM’s due to dissatisfaction. After coming across Crinacle’s review and positive remarks of moondrop’s Variations and further research, I took the plunge after years of headphone use and can happily say the Variations brought a smile to my face.

My benchmark is simple, does this make me WANT to listen to music? Yes, yes these do! I spent an easy 3 hours of bliss just going through some of my favorite tracks without fatigue. I enjoy neutral but prefer some extra oomph when it came to bass/sub bass for that “fun” factor.

These are perfect to my ears without clouding or taking away any clarity. Highly recommended! Some tracks I’d like to recommend (not for technicality, just songs I enjoy): Mounika. – Tender Love (feat.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have to give it a 5 at this price range. Many good things happening on this iem, but also something I personally do not prefer. This is probably THE most unique product within Moondrop’s lineup up to date, simply because how different the bass is from previous models.

Bass: Deep and ‘meaty’, without any bleeds into the lower mids. If you are someone who is looking for some hard and ‘rock-like’ bass response, you may miss some 150-200hz on Variations. This is much more sub-bassy than mid-bassy, which can give you that extra texture on the subbass, but on the other hand, you lose some warmth due to slightly less midbass.

The overall bass is very detailed and fast, and it is completely separated from other frequencies. Lower mids: This is when I have to talk about my personal preferences. I would like this one to have more lower mids and less upper mids.

I find it slightly lacking some of the lower mid range presence due to this characteristic. As a result, some vocals and instruments feel like they are not well supported and they are like floating in the air.

If you are like me I recommend you have a look at the Thieaudio Oracle instead. Anyway, this is just my personal preference. Upper mids: Very energetic, lively and precise. This really gives you that forwardness and excitement.

A little bit shouty so I put some Tanchjim Oxygen filters on it. However, do note that this iem does NOT sounds close and forward as a whole. It presents a nice picture that is slightly in front of you rather than straight up in your head.

Treble: Good extension, no sibilance at all. Because of this, I find the treble more like naturally extending itself to the air frequencies, rather than emphasizing its presence.

IšverstiShow in original language- Bass: is well defined, well managed, and precise, but, at the same time it is capable of being boomy (in a good way) and powerful, with impact and punch. Sub bass extension goes low and stays low, adding depth to the sound.

Fast transient response with the ability to also thump and bump. – Mids: are clear and detailed. Instruments and vocals have good separation and are well defined. They have a nice warmth, but are free of bloat from upper bass.

– Vocals: present nicely forward with a natural, accurate, and clear timbre. If I could find ‘fault’ with this IEM it would be that on certain tracks male vocals can sound a bit thin, lacking some natural low end depth.

This is not the norm however, and is specific to certain tracks. I’m nit picking here. – Treble: is crisp, clear, bright, and articulate. Detail retrieval is excellent, and upper highs have lots of air.

I detect no harshness or sibilance, just crystal clear highs. – Soundstage: the head stage is between the ears. Height is excellent thanks to low sub bass extension and airy treble. Depth is also excellent.

Separation and clarity are very good, imaging and layering are precise and accurate. It’s very easy to pinpoint individual instruments and vocals on the stage. Summary: For my listening preference the Variations are 100% a winner.

They work well with all genres, and seem to ‘morph’ to suit whatever you throw at them. Without AB comparing them, I will venture to say this IEM is capable of challenging more expensive offerings. Very well done Moondrop ??.

Overall: Like other reviewers have said, these are seriously lacking in bass. Even on classical recordings I found myself reaching for aftermarket software EQ in order to get a good amount of bass response.

However, after making that adjustment, these are some fantastic in-ears. There is a night and day difference between these and the SE 215. These seem to be designed with detail and separation in mind and it’s impossible to not notice the difference.

This translates to more accurate monitoring, and a clearer picture for a live mix, where something like a 215 would be a harsh mess. As long as you don’t need the bass response (and most in ear mixes don’t) then these are a serious value and upgrade pick over standard offerings.

They are built much better than the 215 as well; you can tell just holding both in your had. I’ve had 215s fall apart after about 2 years worth of use; I don’t see that ever happening with these. Overall they seem to be purpose built for monitoring.

Drummers will love them for recording sessions over traditional headphones, as they don’t wear you out and feel more natural. Casual use will take some getting used to, or some kind of bass boost or eq on your listening setup.

If your current in-ears don’t seem to be doing the job, these are likely the cure for that.

Great earphones: – Good sound quality: not too bass heavy (why I didn’t choose the SE215s) and fantastic mids. The highs were a little lacking, but with some EQ both the bass and highs are easily adjusted to give a flat sound.

– Extremely sound isolating: they block out the sound of construction near my house, they mostly block that awful screeching on the Jubilee Line and will completely block out other people talking near you.

– These come with a variety of different earbud options, although I found the default one (M black foam) was already fine for me. – The profile of the earbud is very flat too, which allows me to wear these while sleeping on my side.

The only real downside I’ve found is that these can get a little uncomfortable if you wear them for long periods of time, but only mildy. Overall I’d definitely recommend these!.

I have been on a quest for the “perfect headphones” for many years. I have gone through Sony, Klipsch, Bose, and now Shure. I thought I had arrived to them with the SE425’s, but then I heard the SE846’s.

Now, the 425’s are fantastic. Due to my particular ears, I actually had t use one type of tip on one side and a different one on the other after a lot of testing. I started out with the included foam medium (two dots).

The sound was very disappointing. Then I changed to the large foam (three dots) and the sound improved significantly, as a good seal is essential to a good sound on these type or earphones aka IEM’s.

Eventually I found my left side kept breaking the seal and I struggled to hear bass/low range frequencies on them. After lots of tests I ended with the long three-tier white plug on the left and the soft large silicone on the right.

This is the combination that provides the seal and the durability of that seal during motion. After this, I tweaked my iPhone equalizer settings to Rock and I think I found the best these earphones can sound.

The bass is now way better but still lacking. But, make no mistake. These headphones have made me aware of details on songs I had never heard before. It was even down to guitar squeaks from chord to chord on Slipknot’s Nero Forte.

These earphones are miles away from anything else I have heard. The separation of instruments is perfect, every single one of them can be heard independently. I can’t help but feeling the sound coming out of these is as the recording artist intended.

Small details and nuances are there and they never get tiring. The highs are never drilling in your ears, the whole sound is mixed perfectly. Then I went into an Inmotion store and I sampled the 846’s.

Everything I loved about the 425’s was there, with the addition of a powerful subwoofer-like bass. Now I have to save up for those. But, if you want “reference” sound to listen to every single instrument and vocals perfectly, look no further.

Bought this product 2 weeks ago. Ordered online, collected 2 hours later. Smooth process. Nice staff. I have been using this product for 2 weeks. I am used to very high quality headphones. So I pick up alot more finer things than the average user would notice.

The sound quality is good however i feel like the bass is a little flat and the treble sharp however this can be fixed with an equaliser. I dont have any complaints. I think its definitely worth the money.

The build quality seems brilliant and has 2 years warranty. It is very loud and doesn’t crackle or have any noise and cancels background noise well. Fits comfortably round the ear, the buds can irritate if you use it for several hours (like me) they do give multiple buds but I haven’t changed them round.

Overall happy with the purchase.

I purchased the senheiser IE40 pro for live performance in ear monitor system. I tested it out upon arrival and was disappointed in the sound. It was trebly, high mid range harsh. If I wore these phones for an entire performance it would hurt my ears.

So I replaced them with the shure 215. the shure sounds good. Smooth, full and separated. I would recommend the shure over the sennheiser 40 pro. I am a professional musician and have been for 47 years.

I use these earphones on set, for booming and sound utility work. With a nice variety of ear plugs, you can fit these bad boys snug and comfortable. The other brands famous in ear monitor was too big for my ear, this one is smaller.

I also like the flexy cable better. Sound quality is top notch. Recommended.

) I used them pretty much everyday for hours since I got them. They only broke due to the constant bending of the wire to fold it over your ear. The rubber cracked and I think some of the exposed wires got damaged.

When I first noticed the rubber around the wire cracking, I solved it by wrapping it with a little electrical tape and that works good. If you only use them sometimes they’ll probably last longer! Sound is good, nice noise canceling too.

They also come with a nice case but I didn’t use it that much. My favorite earbuds so far, about to re-order. :).

M. (In Ear Monitoring) for LIVE performances. For such application, this item is an EXCELLENT choice because of overall sound quality (which is more than good enough – but not excellent in my view, more on this later), comfort, the build quality and overall value for your money.

However, if you are considering this product to be the actual MONITORING device for your studio work, I will have to tell you that you might be disappointed in sound quality. This is not because the product is bad quality at all! I use large diaphragm closed head set and very good quality close range reference studio monitors for studio work and COMPARED to these purpose built (and MUCH more expensive products!), the sound quality is slightly inferior due to lack in low frequency.

This product, although the frequency response is flat, the base production is noticeably weaker when you turn up the volume. Which means, if one was to rely on these for studio work, his final mix may sound “boomy” to most of listeners.

Again, for IEM application this product suits our need perfectly and we plan to buy bunch more in the future for the rest of the band members!! Will I recommend this product to others? Absolutely for the IEM usage.

For studio usage, it is ok but if you care about your music, you might have to spend quite a bit more to get you satisfied. For real musicians who have to watch their budget, at this price, you can’t really go wrong.

One final word, how they are fitted inside of your ear canal makes a HUGE difference in how they sound. You should carefully experiment with how they FIT in your ear. My guess is that if more PERSONALIZED fitting option was possible, the very same machine could end up producing more responsive frequency range as well.

But then again, the price wouldn’t remain at this level either.

I have been on an IEM journey for the past several years. I have used universals and customs (good impressions taken by family member). My primary use for them is monitoring my own vocals and acoustic guitar.

The Pro X30 represent the final stop in my journey. Monitors I have owned: Shure single, double, and triple driver offerings UE universal triple driver Jerry Harvey JH5 (custom) Jerry Harvey Layla (custom) ACS Evolve Ambient (custom) Westone AM30PRO I have always sought the most pure vocal monitoring experience I can find.

Research would lead one to believe that custom is the way to go. What I have found is that the occlusion effect when singing with custom monitors, even with great second bend molds, is a game of sacrifices.

Sure, you get a nice fit, but you will be hearing so much resonance inside your head that it, in my experience, makes them unusable. The AM30PRO, ambient offering from Westone is great. It does let in a lot of stage noise if you’re in a noisy environment, clouding the monitoring experience.

The pro X30 represents that best monitoring experience I have had to date. When fit with Comply foam tips, There is amazing isolation, no occlusion effect, and the sound signature beautifully highlights the nuances of the human voice.

I will never buy a custom monitor again. My only gripe with these is the cable. The thing appears to be made out of a single strand of spider silk. One wrong tug, and I’m afraid the cable will be a goner.

Please remedy this, Westone, and you have a 5 star from me!.

I am consistently blown away by Westone Audio and the design quality of their in ear systems. The Pro x50 earphones are transparent and deliver a true representation of sound across the stage. Being a drummer, I love that the Pro x50s pack a solid punch for the kick drum and bass through the 5 independent drivers.

The Estron Linum BaX cable is ultra light compared to any headphones I’ve ever used. It feels like you don’t have anything in your ears while playing! Thank you Westone Audio for another exceptional in ear system!.

Great IEM I ended up buying for backups. I was running A2 mixing and didn’t have my other iem. Went to guitar center and got these Westone, great drivers and clean audio. Who ever wrote that other comment doesn’t know what’s up lol.

Nice, neutral-warmish sound with almost perfect harman profile. Very unoffending sound signature, nice bass extension, excellent shimmery trebles without a hint of shouting or sibilance. Very good both tonally and in technicalities.

No problems driving even from apple dongle and they sound terrific with it. Very comfortable, very well made, excellent selection of accessories, decent cable (both of them). Really, a no-brainer. No weak spots at all.

Easily match for any chi-fi or non-chi-fi competitors up to it’s price. I have around 30+ IEMs, and i can live with these being the only ones if i have to. You would need to pay MUCH more for any improvement, and even then it would be fairly incremental.

Lightweight and comfortable design, they fit perfectly in the ear, sometimes you forget to have them. This feeling grows when you consider the fun and engaging sound profile of the headset. Its full and articulated bass, fleshy mid-range and good high end keep a great detail.

A good deal of insulation of this headset, makes it even easier to ignore ambient noise while enjoying this IEM. Combined with a good sound source, it will be able to return a great feedback, recommended the purchase, also Moonaudio as always detects a very good seller.

Best iems I have ever had, sound is crisp, perfect mids, as a basshead i thought I would be dissapointed with the BA drivers vs Dynamic but even the bass is amazing albeit may require and eq/amp to really blast it the way I like, but does not muddy up into the mids its a very clean bass.

The best iem I’ve ever had maybe my endgame, only upgrade I see would be the Z1r’s but they are almost double the price. 5stars.

These were a major financial plunge for me, as they’re more than twice the price of my previous most expensive headphones or earbuds. I’m in my mid-forties with very good hearing. This was an admittedly indulgent purchase, but I figured I might as well take the plunge while my hearing is good enough to appreciate the difference.

And there IS a difference! Out of the box, the neutral mode means that bass is not as exaggerated as less expensive consumer products, but the detail is AMAZING! There’s a level of detail that reveals nuances in familiar tracks that I had never previously heard.

The low end extends down into ranges more seismic than musical. As these were my first IEM style earphones, I initially had a tough time getting them sealed to my ear canal. After some initial frustration, and running through every single tip option in the kit, I figured it out–with the tips that were on when I first took them out of the box.

Passive sound isolation is extremely good–as good or better than good active noise canceling options. And no active noise canceling option offers this level of audiophile sound quality. The modular design of this (and other Shure IEMs) was a key attraction.

I can use these out of the box for in-ear monitoring with the cable running down my back. I’m not a musician, but I am not using them for the many hours per week of on-camera time presenting, teaching, and attending video meetings, where I need wired zero-latency monitoring.

The new and excellent TW1 true wireless Bluetooth solution means I can use them with all the consumer products that require Bluetooth connectivity. I also purchased the inexpensive Shure cable with in-line microphone and Android/IOS switchable remote control.

If I’m on the road and don’t have my big podcasting style mic, that cable gives me a cheap alternative to using a built-in mic on my notebook computer when on Zoom meetings.

They do sound great but the price is ridiculous and (for the price) the quality is poor. First purchased a few years ago and that pair broke after (ironically) just over two years (they were never treated roughly as I always take very good care of anything I buy, especially items as expensive as these) Sent them back to Shure as the mmcx connection on one of the buds failed, (you can check this issue out in the customer reviews on Shure’s own website) to be told they were out of the two year warranty* and I would have to pay for a replacement (at a reduced but still comparably expensive price) As I also own several other iems and high end headphones, the replacements have not been used so much and only used at home.

Got them out this morning and noticed that one of the bud housings was parting at the join. This would be unacceptable at any price but at the price these are selling for (they were first released way back in 2013) it’s a joke! Also be aware that the warranty* only applies if purchased from Shure or from an authorised dealer, so check this with the supplier before you buy.

Avoid to buy IEMs online as they might not sound good with your music genre and Store Dj won’t let you return these under their policy which I didn’t notice before purchase. These are great for high quality instrumental music or as a monitor for live band musicians but absolutely not suitable as a Dj monitors.

Especially with genres with lot of going on in mid range – Trance, EDM and some vocal House tracks. They also are low impedance so not working great with Dj mixers amps. If you are a Dj playing electronic music and looking for IEMs, definitely look for different brand as Shure range has mids and vocals very forward.

It’s not only unpleasant but completely unusable after a few minutes of listening. I’m selling mine already.

These earbuds are great, super clear and can take the volume while I’m playing bass guitar for my church and then work well in my home studio. Overall great product!!! And AMS I can’t say enough good things, these people make music purchases affordable, easy, and painless! Also, the team can answer anything you’ve got and if they’re not sure they find out.

I just received my ATH-E70’s in the mail last Saturday. I’m a professional musician. I’ve shared the stage with Anita Wilson, Bo Williams, The Levites, Rick Robinson, Micah Stampley, Forever Jones, and etc.

I must say these are by far the BEST IEM’s I’ve EVER used and I’ve owned a few. If you’re in love with the Shure 215 series this is a MAJOR step up. The thing I really love about these is the response is so raw, meaning no “modified” lows, mids, or highs it’s just however that particular instrument sounds RAW, that’s what you’re going to get.

The 215’s had boosted bass which really hindered the actual tonality of the music. With these IEM I’m now able to hear my band at church and out on the road as a whole. Truth be told it’s as if I’m listening to an album.

So if you’re pondering on getting these, just do your ears a favor and DO IT!!!.

Overall: The quality is top notch! It has the best bass response and clarity for the price. If you are a Bassist or someone who just wants to hear what the Bassist is doing, then these are the ones to get in this price range.

Everything else in this price range has almost no bass and you would need to spend 3 times this much for adequate bass response. You need to make sure you get a tight fit to reap the full bass benefit.

I currently use mine on stage for guitar and bass. I want to up grade to another Mackie brand ear monitor but I cant justify it when this sounds so good. I guess I’ll wait until it breaks. I’ve had this for a couple of years now.

The only thing I wish is that Mackie would sell replacement tips. I know anything will work but I really like the ones that come with it. I hope this helps. Stay Funky and Rock on!.

Where has this pair of in-ear monitors been all my career? Oh, that’s right. I couldn’t have afforded higher end devices like this until this model came along. Anything bringing the real sound, the authentic signal, used to cost much more.

For $199, this is a great deal. I use these with my Mackie board for livestreams and I don’t need a DAWS to create quality sound and to hear what my audience does. It’s truly the real sound, not boosted bass or treble with sibilance.

It’s the actual sound. I don’t like stuff in or on my ears when I play, but these are the exception. One tip: get some surgical tape to tack the cable on the back of your neck. Ask a stage hand friend from the theater word.

They know.

Coming from years on shure 215s’ the 360s are proving much more detailed and much louder. Turn down your master volume by at least half before you audition. High’s and Mids are superior, bass seems flat but is actually natural sounding compared to other sets that tend to boost this area.

The ability to pick out subtleties in the mix and stereo field is excellent. Isolation is on par maybe slightly better than the Shures. Once the signal is playing at even moderate levels things have to extremely loud on stage to leak through.

This is provided you achieve the right fit, which should be achievable with the 9 pairs of tips in S/M/L. Opening is very large and switching between tips is a TOTAL pain. The housings are physically larger than the 215’s so the 360s are not as comfortable.

I have generally avoided other models in the shure line because they were not a big enough upgrade in sound or performance to the 215s. These 360s are absolutely a clear upgrade. Volume, clarity, flat response, and better isolation make the slightly more bulky feeling fit well worth the price of admission.

I have great memories of these from my music career. I needed to leave town immediately for a touring opportunity and had to have in-ear monitors, but didn’t have time to get my ears molded for custom ones.

I went to Guitar Center and they sold me these and they did the trick! I still use them for recording at home and they’ve held up for the last 7 years with no problems. Very good investment, oh and all your music will be loud and great quality if you just use them as headphones.

I have been in bands playing loud music for over 20 years. Thankfully mom told me to wear ear plugs, so I can still hear relatively well compared to my peers. So, the switch from amps and drums in a room or floor monitors wasn’t such a huge change.

only difference it this time I could hear crystal clear highs and mids. I really enjoy wearing these playing with the band at my church. I can hear everything. It is forcing me to become a better guitarist because I can hear little mistakes.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I question how much hearing damage I am doing. Seems like for $200 newer technology, like Rev 33, could be installed to prevent hearing loss and ear fatigue.

I would buy these again, however, so I guess I’m not too concerned.

I have spent quite a lot of money experimenting with different styles and brands. These earphones exceeded my expectations for fit, comfort, style, and performance. I am sure the higher priced Shure models perform better, but as a musician with limited funds, these are the best so far for me.

On stage I have to have the volume set pretty high. Sound quality remained very good with no discernible distortion. I play bass with a floor monitor so I wasn’t concerned about the lower bass response of the earphones.

The only other negative for me was the right angle connector. It works OK, but I would have chosen a straight connector. Bottom line – I am recommending them for the rest of the band.

Hifiman has managed to create an IEM which has among the lowest THD ever measured (actually regardless of it being an IEM. Its THD is one of the lowest ever measured in a sound reproduction system), if not the lowest (as far as one can compare from the information on the internet), this translates to an extremely clean sound reproduction.

Frequency response might not fit everyone’s taste, but due to the very linear and smooth nature of it, can be very easily equalized. In order to get the most linear FR, one should insert them quite deep in the ear canal, which can be quite uncomfortable at first (with the original tips.

I had no problem whatsoever when I used the Logitech UE900 tips instead), but I got used to it pretty quickly. There are plenty of tips for different fits, though none seem to be high quality. When the cable is worn behind the ear, microphonics is very low.

I have heard many horror stories about the cable which disconnects quite easily, but I don’t have any suggestions how to strengthen the connection. I can only hope it won’t happen to the pair I bought.

To sum up: Pros: – High quality, accurate sound reproduction – Smooth, easy to EQ frequency response – Very small and comfortable (unless you decide to go all the way. ) – Aesthetically pleasing – The best one can get for the price – Almost perfect impulse response (no unwanted resonance – hence clean signal) Cons: – Weak cable – headphone connection – Tips are quite slim and not too comfortable – Cable is not as flexible as the ones coming with high-end custom IEMs *Based on measurements from Innerfidelity and rinchoi’s blog.

These are smooth sounding earphones with very good bass. You need to increase the volume to get that good sound. The soundstage is also good. It sounded good only with SpinFit eartips.

So these headphones sound amazing, very flat sound, maybe a liiiitle pronounced on the mids, with a very wide soundstage, frequently noticing things in music that I never did before. However, the build quality leaves a lot to be desired, specially at this price point.

Cable started to rip at several points since a couple weeks of usage, even though I always kept the headphones in the hard case they came in. Six months later, they broke completely. Shot HiFiMan an e-mail and apparently they will issue a replacement right away, but it’s still not what’s to be desired, specially with a Chinese brand that will presumably take so long to ship to and from.

I had the Shure Se215 SPE (Blue), and they didn’t leave any corners to impress me, so it was obvious to bring in the wireless capability to them. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Pros- Flat sound signature (which may not be the choice of many) is provided by these IEMs.

Details in the music are not only heard but felt. Instrument separation is good. The soundstage is awesome as compared to the IEM’s in this price range(excluding wireless adapters price). Vocals sound extraordinarily clear.

Highs, Mids and Lows are just perfect and would rarely require tweaking in the equalizer provided by SHURE Play app. Base is deep and punchy, at least with the SPE(Special Edition) ones, definitely not for bassheads.

but still punchy when you are considering an IEM. Environment mode is an awesome feature ! Just double tapping either button will make your earphones disappear completely. Initially I was skeptical about it, thinking that the voice would sound robotic and like radio transmissions.

But when I tried it myself, I was amazed to hear such transparency. Adding this feature to these types of Earphones which block almost all sound passively was a must. And yes you can hear your music while having the Environment mode on ! Considering Shure’s recent entry in the true wireless realm, we can say that the connection handling is not at all bad for their first attempt of True Wireless Earphones.

The connection is stable and more efficient after the update. Looks are stunning, would definitely become a point of admiration. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Cons- Didn’t find any but yes there were scenarios where the adapters behaved strangely.

For example, once I forgot to switch them off and kept them in my previous non chargeable Shure carry bag. When trying to reuse them, somehow the left bud would connect to the device but while connecting to the right bud, it would leave the connection from the device.

Also there was a loud whistling sound from one of the earphones(which got me a little scared) but fortunately resetting them cleared the issue. On removing the Aonics 215s from the adapters and replacing them with SE215s SPE (Blue), the adapters would switch off automatically on playing certain flac files from the Shure App.

Files were Attention -Charlie Puth (16-Bit, 44. 1kHz) Bad Guy -Billie Eilish(24-Bit, 44. 1kHz) ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Conclusion- Providing the performance of an In-Ear Monitor in a True-Wireless form without losing on the details can be done only by SHURE.

Buy these only if you can afford and be satisfied with True Wireless Technology at its current phase (phase which is not at all bad). In terms of sound and impact, I still count on SHURE and their product Aonics 215 TW1.

I recommend these to the Audiophile who has been listening on subpar headphones and speakers their whole life. When you use these to listen to nearly all songs you’ve listened to before, it’s like listen to that song for the first time.

Your favorite songs will sound way better and light up the story that you feel when you listen to that track that’s always got you bumping. My one thing I would do to warn you. ⚠ Do not go and buy the next level up of shure aonics.

They do kinda make you look at the new earbud as a Godsend, and you won’t really touch the SE215’s anymore. For example, I bought the Aonic 4 earbuds, and love them 3x more. The dual driver really drives it home for me.

Pun intended. The 215’s are better than your run of the mill earbuds, but the 4’s are next level. I haven’t tried the 846’s yet, but if the trend of the higher the model number, the better the performance.

You will find yourself out $2,000 real quick. In conclusion these are good for someone who doesn’t need the best nor have the $2,000 to shell out, but do want some quality sound, at a reasonably priced range.

Of late there is a trend of users opting for Chinese manufacturers due to better value to price ratio. In the past i have tried some of these renowned brands such as Vsonic, Shangling, 1more. The build quality in these earphones were pathetic, vsonic gr07 which some still consider to be really good was built like something a first grader would build out of clay.

The plastic wasn’t even molded properly and when i would stick them in they would poke my ears. The shangling tws were also horrible, the case was flimsy, the buds would never pair and it seems like it was built with some pathetic quality of plastic.

Having bashed the above chinese brands, i come to Shure. The shure SE215 have been my go to earphones for exercise, casual listening, travelling and every possible use. I have been very rough with them, my dog had a go at them but they still worked like a charm.

Over 7 years I used two of them, both lasted about the equal time. I have also tried the RHA t20, but they were not to my liking, too bulky, poor sound signature and irritating cable. So when i was looking to invest in a new pair of IEMs and noticed that Shure had launched the aonic series, they caught my eye.

Firstly the price, they retail for about 300 USD, which converted is 21k INR, including takes and import they should cost easily 30k. But they are roughly the same 300 USD price, this is always a nice sign.

Secondly the fit for me is classic shure, absolutely perfect sealing. in fact these block out more noise than sonys noise cancelling 1000mx3 both in ear and over ear. Cant hear traffic/bus/train rides with these on.

Then comes the sound, Shure are supposed to be balanced but these ones have a lot of Bass, I am not sure if its the price range that makes the earphone quality at another level or its just these pair.

It is so clearly evident when you listen to “In the air tonight” by Phil Collins as the transition to heavy bass is slow and evident. Coming to vocals take the song “Ik Onkar”, voice is extremely clear and feels you are in the studio itself.

The final test is “Maggot Brain” by Funkadelic, the playback is flawless, the transition from highs to the lows is epic. My only regret is not going for the Aonic 5 due to price constraints. (PS i am using these with apple music loseless and earman eagle DAC).

The Fender IEM Nines are not your typical earbuds. These things can handle whatever you throw at them – from heavy bass to searing lead guitars and everything in between. They come with a variety of tips to make sure you get a perfect fit.

The only problem I had is they completely sealed out 99% of the external noise , which made it difficult to hear my wife telling me to do some chores. Is that a bad thing? You decide. Anyway – these are great – I love them.

Not well known in the US or Europe except for their guitar. But this updated IEM from 2109 is good quality made and made in USA. Bass is strong with sub bass where a lot of dynamic IEM is still lacking.

Mid and Treble for the BA driver is a little bit darker. Changing to a silver cable with balance 4. 4mm or 2. 5mm will help raise quality. Non fatiguing to listen to long, but small ear might have issue to fit.

Sounding like campfire Polaris 2019/2020 but better mid and treble with balance silver cable. If you want quality punching bass, this IEM can go very low without going overboard.

I was surprised with the good clarity and overall response of these iems. Nice cord that doesn’t tangle, wide range of plug styles with two types of materials, soft gel rubber & memory foam. They come apart easily and replacement parts can be ordered.

Strong construction, these are quality earphones. Free shipping was very fast and price was over half off on sale. No complaints at all, if youre thinking about grabbing them, go ahead and do it.
