20 Best Indoor Mosquito Repellent Reviews (2022 Updated)

This stuff really works – my deck was an unbearable place to be is now a great place to have dinner or a drink without resorting to the heavy duty insect repellent application. I’m all about Off! when I’m working in the garden but now I am so grateful that I don’t have to take a shower after eating dinner! It does take a minute or two to light but it works so well that it’s worth it.

I put mine into the cork of an empty wine bottle (drilling a small hole in the cork first) which makes it easy to move around.

I gave it a four star because the other people at an event were complaining about being bit, but I did not feel a thing. I would have gave it 5, but I did not want to exclude the complaints I did hear.

Okay, this works. This is a package of 4 coils and 2 metal clips that are holders for the coils. It’s similar to incense or cones in how you use it. You light the end furthest from the eye and after you see orange, blow out the flame.

It smokes for HOURS. I gave 4 stars because the smell can give you a headache. If you are near it, it gets in your clothes. I am sensitive to smells and often get headaches. It may just be me but the smell becomes overpowering after a couple of hours.

It’s not like rotten milk or anything. Its like what you would think and at first it didn’t bother me at all. BUT it works and it’s cheap and easy! I am using these in a carport so an open patio wouldn’t hold the smell as long.

I can deal with the smell as long as horseflies aren’t biting me!.

These work great for me in the Sierra. I also have used Coghlan’s mosquito coils, however they seem to be hard to find now. Also noticing that like all things in California it appears that some vendors won’t ship mosquito coils to California.

Compared to Coghlan’s these seem to be easier to separate the two coils as packaged when you break them apart. The coil material is thicker and more rigid. They are easier to light. The metal stands are more sturdy and you get three per 10 pack compared to 2 per 10 pack with Coghlan’s.

Overall I’d give these a 10 for mosquito coils and Coghlan’s a 7.

Only 2 come in a package vs the 4 that’s described. Very brittle coils and the multiple packages contained broken pieces. Put the pieces on a cinder block to burn since they were too destroyed to place on metal spikes enclosed.

When placed directly below the chair I was sitting on, the smoke slightly deterred the mosquitoes swarming around me. However, the smoke burned my eyes and throat and gave me a headache. Not worth the trouble, good thing they were only a dollar per package.

Purchased just before a camping trip to Enderby BC. The campground was nice but right by the river and mosquitoes were awful. It lit up OK with the butane cartridge and pads supplied with the unit but when they were used up, installed new ones from the refill package.

Trying several times over a roughly two hour period, the unit wouldn’t light. Could hear the gas, and there was a “whoosh” when the ignitor was pressed, but no heat (these units use heat generated from butane combustion to heat a pad containing pyrethroids to release insect repelling fumes).

Even when it works, the slightest breeze carries the fumes from the pad away, leaving little protection. The idea of a mobile unit with a belt clip is a bit misleading since any movement will leave the fumes behind offering no protection.

It might work in a still environment. Dad used to use those old green coils in the car (with all windows open) on those hot summer nights in southern Ontario when we went as a family to drive in movies and I recall much better results (of course the formulation may have been different back in the 60’s).

The coils these days contain an active ingredient that is basically the same as the pads used in the Thermacell and cost a lot less. Overall, quite a disappointment.

This is the second season that I have used my 300. I always swore by it, and recommended it to anyone that asked about it. Those were usually times when we were on our deck, by the fire ring, or while I was on my tractor during the day.

However, last week we were eating outside on our deck , and I had my Thermacell running. Suddenly, my wife laughed, and told me that there were two mosquitoes flying within a foot of the unit. I was extremely skeptical, and had to see this myself.

I went back to our table, where the Thermacell was hanging from our umbrella, and watched as mosquitoes were flying around and by it like it wasn’t even there. I figured maybe it was a weak pad, as I had used this one for an hour or so earlier in the day.

No harm, no foul, things happen. Tonight I had taken the unit with me, into my yard, with a fresh fuel cell, and brand new out of the packet, fresh pad. I hung the Thermacell on the side of my tractor , and went back inside for a few minutes, to give it a chance to build it’s zone.

I went back out, and began working on the tractor, and sure enough I was being eaten alive, and there were mosquitoes flying merely inches away from the unit, that was actually emitting a faint hint of smoke from the pad! I don’t know what has happened, but this product no longer works for me.

It ignites, heats the blue pads, and is occasionally hot enough to smoke a bit, so it is functioning, but it is most definitely not doing it’s job.

We have a problem with no-see-um gnats that bite ! They are in our screen porch and we cannot keep them out since they are small enough to enter thru the screen. It is a maddening situation as the bites are worse from this gnat than a mosquito ! We bought this device and so far catching some in the glue trap at the bottom of the unit.

We keep this machine going throughout the day, although the blue light is fairly subdued so not many gnats are caught until it gets darker. On some nights we use this in our bedroom to catch any stray gnats or mosquitoes that have gotten into the house.

I was worried about the noise from this product but it is actually very quiet, especially on the lower setting. We also found that it works better when placed near a night light as it attracts the bugs even more.

It is a tough call in keeping the trap running over night in the porch as it may attract more gnats inside the screen who are drawn to the light but we will keep experimenting. So far at least we are finding a dozen or more gnats each day in the glue.

Price for this product seems fair given the success so far.

I bought this for my office after a recent outbreak of fruit flies. I was beyond exasperated with the endeavors of the operation team to treat the problem, so I purchased this on my own in an effort to try something to control the issue.

I ran this on silent mode overnight and returned to find a dozen fruit flies trapped on the sticky pad – definitely already making more progress than the professional bug service or the small cups of apple vinegar placed in various places throughout the office.

This purchase is worth every penny already, and I’ve had it for less than a day. I will say – the instructions say nothing about the 2 white sticky pads included with the machine. Simply remove the adhesive, and place the pad sticky side up in the bottom of the machine – as the flies fall through the machine, they will stick to this adhesive pad.

You can then discard the adhesive pad at anytime and replace it with a fresh one. I will need to research to see if you can buy replacement adhesive pads.

We are plagued with mosquitoes (thanks to neighbors with funky pools – ugh). We don’t like spraying chemicals in the house so I tried this product as a last resort. Oh my gosh, we would not have suffered so many bites had I bought this sooner! The first day – first day! – I counted 10 mosquitoes on the sticky board inside the device.

10! yea! We leave it running when we are out of the house and frequently come back to little presents of dead mosquitoes. We even leave it running near us when we are watching TV. Occasionally a mosquito will venture away from us and get caught in the fan.

The fan has 2 speeds – standard and quiet. The fan does rattle a bit occasionally on either setting but it’s not an annoying noise. It more of a white noise that you know is there but is not a bother.

The glue boards are super simple to pop in and out of the bottom of the trap. And the trap itself (we have the black one) is not obtrusive at all. I highly recommend this item. We are so happy with it we even named it Audrey.

She will forever have a home in our house and our travel trailer. Oh, and the seller has been a true delight. We have been corresponding about the product and I have received prompt and detailed answers to my questions.

We live in TX where mosquitoes drive us crazy almost year round. I don’t like the smell of Citronella candles and thought I’d give these a try because of the Cedar scent. Each stick lasts about 2-2. 5 hours and they definitely keep the mosquitoes away.

They smell like a campfire. Be sure to get 2-3 of the little ceramic incense stick holders, too. They keep the stick standing straight and they will last longer and burn all the way to the bottom of the incense.

Perfect for a porch or patio area. The Murphy’s candle (with the cedar) works well, too.

I was shocked by how well these worked. We had a particularly bad mosquito season last summer and we couldn’t be on our patio at all in the evening without getting eaten alive. We lit on of these and placed it in a planter full of dirt on the ground and within minutes we had zero mosquitos on our patio and they stayed away for the entire time it was lit.

It was like magic! The scent was not particularly strong to me so it wasn’t bothersome to have it lit and one stick lasts a very long time. For folks who have had less luck with them – we did find that placing them up on a table made them less effective than having them on the ground.

I think it gives less coverage if they are up higher.

I was not expecting the nuisance of flying insects to almost dissapear from the immediate area the moment I lit one. I was really surprised pleasantly when i tried one on both my front and side yards at different occasions and different windiness.

Even with a nice breeze going in one direction only, this still worked pretty well. Looks expensive, but the burn time is nice and long. I have used the same one two-three times on some occasion. I like the idea, the convenience of just stick in the soil of a potted plant and forget it.

I bought a $10 cheap one off ebay and it showed was worthless and ended up broken within 1 day. So I decided to get this one instead to see if a real one performed any better. In less than an hour it already had a few bug in it.

after about 10 hours (going into night time) had about 20 bugs. Perfect. It fairly quiet (wish is was a little more quiet) but doesn’t bother us. We have been running it each day and it continues to suck up bugs.

so great buy! Also, I tested the watt pull and its roughly 3watts which means you can run this for a full year straight and (in california) would cost about $7. for the full year. So we are going to run this non stop! wish it was cheaper for just catching bugs, but dude, this works! I bought to kill mosquitos in my bedroom. Reviews said it killed mosquitos. Later I found reviews said it would not draw mosquitos into it to be zapped. The later reviews are correct because in two days I only had one mosquito zapped while I was still getting bit by mosquitos.

I even put a candle behind the zapper hoping the carbon dioxide from candle would draw the mosquitos into the zapper. Nope that didn’t happen and I still got bit. Hoping to return it to WalMart for a full refund.

The reviews are misleading for some reason. Don’t waste your money on this wallet zapper because you will keep on swatting the skeeters.

So. For some reason I’ve had tons of mosquitoes and other bugs this year. Been driving me crazy. Sprayed with insecticide (several times), dusted, even purchased two Flowtrons. Nothing worked. Saw the video on this Aspektek and decided to give one a try.

Amazing! Never seen anything like it. As soon as I hung it and plugged it in things started popping. Literally! Wherever a big goes into it you actually hear a loud pop. Another big bites the dust. Bug problem solved.

A coil lasts for hours. We use one coil maybe 3-4 times. It’s less stinkier than sprays or citronella candles.

(’22) IC: Daily Task – OFF and their products have elevated their brand quite well. This kit I thought was great until I bought it and read instructions later. I feel it is a great products, I just didn’t get extra batteries at the time.

That’s the only reason I rated it a 3. This is a battery operated little fan to repell head to feet mosquitos. Protect for up to 12 hours, with the clip-on feature, which drew me to the device. We’ve used OFF especially in summer months for picnics and our grandchildren’s outdoors sporting events.

I love that with this clip-on, you didn’t have to spray anything and it’s very convenient. It is lightweight and easy to load the batteries. At the time I bought it, I got it from K-Mart. You can buy this at almost in any store like hardware and some grocery stores.

I would recommend it to anyone.

I really wanted to love this thing, however it seemed we mostly forgot to grab the refills and would get where we were going and realize it card was empty or old and dried up. The idea is amazing. One great use was on the baby stroller.

I could leave it hooked on soi did not forget it and it was easy to run. Fora baby it was good. Otherwise it was also too bulky and would fall off the kids clothes.

I was skeptical when I bought the off clip but figured it can’t hurt to try to keep the mosquitos away because they will find me anywhere (even inside) I wouldn’t say this works 100% but it definitely helps lessen the amount of mosquitos.

I recently purchased one of these lights. It arrived with one fully functioning bulb and one bulb that lit up orange on the ends and ‘dead’ in the middle. I sent an e-mail to the vendor (contact information is included in the box with the zapper) requesting a replacement light bulb.

90 minutes later — on a Sunday afternoon, no less — I received a response from the vendor that they are shipping out a new unit to me, and to stop using the one that I have. (I guess the orange color means there’s something wrong with the unit, not the bulb.

) For what it’s worth: I was really impressed with how well this unit worked, even with just the one bulb. I have it my garage, which is a huge volume — three very large car bays, 15-foot ceiling, and additional room at the back of the garage.

I put the zapper all the way to one side of the garage, which happens to be where the most accessible 120V receptacle is, and the zapper was a doing a terrific job of keeping the garage mosquito free.

(We live in a very dense mosquito area. ) I am looking forward to seeing how it works with TWO functioning bulbs! :-).

We got this to use on our patio and to take camping. So far we have used it couple nights a week sitting on our back patio enjoying the nice spring temperatures and it has taken care of the gnats, mayflies, and such that have been out.

It is not really distracting and after a bit you don’t even notice it, we keep it off to the side about 4ft from us and have had no issues. It does make some noise if a larger moth or beetle flies into it though.

Shards of glass everywhere. Both lightbulbs were broken. I barely opened the package it was obvious from the get go there was a problem. There was broken glass underneath the tape, I can only assume it was broken before being shipped.

I cut my hands while handling the package. I had to vacuum immediately after opening, and I am still finding pieces of glass.

It works OK keeping mosquitos away but at most on an 8 feet circle, not 15 feet as advertised. The fuel cartridges dont last as advertised; they sell 3 pads per cartridge and I use max 2 pads per cartridge; giving about 8 hours of efficiency.

Result is I have a bunch of pads left with no fuel. fuel cartridges are way too expensive. I am looking for a cheaper alternative. eorks relatively good but not worth the money.

I purchased some furniture for my patio, then discovered that the area was unusable due to mosquito activity. Basically, I am mosquito bait, but I proclaimed that I would not surrender my leisure area to these little tyrannical pests.

I studied up on the subject of making mosquitoes disappear. I learned that I could use citronella candles so I parked one one my left side during breakfast, but the mosquitoes made a meal of me on my right side.

I also learned that growing garlic could help create a barrier. Even if that worked, I would not be planting until next season. I took a trip to my local Walmart and found Theracell in the gardening area.

I read the claims, on the box, but I did not really believe that something that looks like a camp lamp could save my body from the biting flying demons. For about $20 and a great warranty / return policy, I took a risk.

I actually sat outside with no shirt for about an hour and NEVER as much got a dirty look from a mosquito. This product really does create a barrier. One day I stepped outside the barrier to chase away some geese.

When I returned to the protection area, I found that my little excursion invited three mosquito bites within one to two minutes. That told me that the mosquitoes were present, but they would not cross over that proverbial line in the sand.

I must also add that there is no chemical smell. As someone with a keen sense of smell, the lack of a toxic aroma is a big bonus for me. I have recommended this product to three people in the span of a week.

I will be buying these as gifts for others. I cannot lose giving these away.

My husband and I moved to a new home near to the river that has lots of mosquitoes. We were so disappointed that we were not able to enjoy our new beautiful yard in the evening because of the stupid things.

I had yet to find something that actually worked to repel them and just suffered with always still getting bitten or smelling like a walking Deet bottle.

By happen chance I ran across this Thermacell lantern that I’ve never heard of before. We can hardly believe it; THIS LANTERN ACTUALLY WORKS!! We have been so thrilled with it we’ve recommended it to everyone we know in our area with a mosquito problem (we’re in Southern Oregon).

As soon as the mosquitoes come out, one of us runs in to get the lantern and within 5-10 minutes of starting it up they are just GONE. The radius is probably not exactly 15ft, more like 7-10ft but we went ahead and bought 2 for when we have company over.

I can’t say enough how happy I am that we bought this, it has changed our LIVES being able to enjoy evenings outside!!! We eat dinner outside now as often as we can now since this thing makes it possible!.

I purchased this bug zapper to take on vacation to our beach rental home. great home/ great location but plagued with fruit flies on the outside deck and in the kitchen area. the fruit flies looovve wine and apparently quality bourbon even more lol.

We plugged this in outside and left a small bit of bourbon near the lamp and it killed hundreds and hundreds of fruit flies. then cleaned it and brought the lamp in each night and it killed hundreds of fruit flies in kitchen area overnight.

Gloue plugins work, but are not as effective as Gloue lightbulbs. I assume for 2 reasons: 1) location of wall sockets and 2) not omni directional. All my wall sockets are down low on the wall and running an extension cord up to hang a bug nightlight is not only an eyesore but potentially dangerous.

The Gloue lightbulb was very effective for my particular problem( pantry moths) but no one has an effective mosquito light period. Those critters don’t work that way. But (back to the moths) the problem is that moths usually fly above the wall sockets and Gloue lightbulbs have become less carries by Wal-Mart and others and although available through manufacturer, are more expensive than before by 50% (like everything has since pandemic forced so many people to lose employment.

Who thinks less income = ability to afford higher prices?) plus shipping. I’ve zapped a few at the 2 outlets at sink level, but can definitely tell that the plugins can’t keep up as the 1 lightbulb did.

Why Wal-mart doesn’t continue to carry the lightbulb is difficult to figure, except it is hard to clean dead insects off the zapper. I’ve tried other brands and got zero insects dead (lightbulbs), so there’s that for the plugins.

I’m one of those unfortunate individuals mosquitoes find SUPER attractive. I have to wear long pants and long-sleeve shirts outdoors. They know that there’s delicious meal (my blood) inside my house, so they enter at every opportunity.

At my computer I’m helpless. I’ll have four or five bites before I’m able to react. Watching TV, I wrap a blanket around my body chin to toes. I still get bites. If I don’t ice them down immediately, each turns into an enormous welt.

Only antihistamine keeps me from going mad. I purchased the GLOUE Indoor Bug Zapper, frankly, because it was one of the lease expensive (important for a retiree) products, but also because it had great reviews.

Now, this is going to sound like I’ve been paid to say it, but I have not had a single bite inside my house since the day I installed them! I swear to all things holy, I’m telling the truth. I just hope this helps some other poor soul to find the sweet relief I’ve found.

I got much more than expected from this zapper. I had some like these before and they didn’t really do much but run up the electric bill. These zappers did a great job for us, however. Gnats, baby flies, fruit flies, and even fleas got taken out with this thing! These zappers are perfect for anyone wanting to eliminate small bugs and pests.

They are simple to clean and easy to maintain. The set of two gave us more options to take out little bugs and I should have bought a bigger set. I am probably going to end up buying either another set like this, or I may just bite the bullet and get a larger set.

So happy to find it! This ingenious little device traps mosquitoes, fruit flies, gnats and moths. The key for me was keeping it in one place and leaving it on for a longer period of time – like overnight.

When it’s dark bugs are really attracted to the UV light and get blown onto the glue pad at the bottom of the unit. I purchased it for mosquitoes but was happily surprised at all the other flying critters it caught.

This spring our house was infested with fruit flies! After about 1 week of running this every night I could see that it was doing something. I then moved it to another room where the flies were going crazy.

About 2 weeks later most of the flies are gone! Well worth the money! I only used one of the sticky trap discs. Now planning to use this in our camper! I would recommend this and I’d buy it again!.

It’s attractive. All things considering, this is a glorified light trap but (with the black model at least), it sits looking like a little glowing air cleaner on your counter. Not bad! It works as intended.

Definitely can’t speak to any larger insects, mosquitos, etc, but the drain flies are being caught. Wonderful!.

Product has scratches on back. This appears to be resold to me. This is not a brand new item. Plus there is NO RED light indicating that it is working. Only the Led light with the button lights illuminated when button is pressed.

Look a week to arrive and is not in operating condition. There are scratches on the back of the unit, appears to be a used unit plus it is defective. No paperwork inside the envelope to return the item Very disappointed.

I got this for my parents. They had many problems with mice and cockroaches. There are many pest repellers out there so i decided to give this one a shot. And I dont regret. My parents have been using it for a month now.

And it seems like the reppeller has affected the pests very well. There’s a significant decrease in the amount of cockroaches roaming around the house and they havent spotted any mice. My parents said they’d definitely order more of these repellers.

I had tried 2 different kinds of bug zappers and they each did not even grab the attention of one single fly. With high hopes of getting rid of some annoying flies we sent each bug zapper back. I decided to try a different route and order this device.

Within a few hours I noticed that we appeared to be getting rid of our flies that were hanging around our kitchen. I like the night light feature and it is so handy just to plug into the wall outlet and wait for the bugs to disappear.

It is quiet, compact and no dead bugs to get rid of. I think I need one of these in every room. I am sold on this bug zapper. It does not disappoint.

I have had my thermacell and camo pouch for several years and I love it. I use it to duck hunt in Southwest Louisiana below Interstate 10 in the marsh. Where the mosquitoes are so thick if you just use spray the hover around your face so bad it makes it hard to see.

Three or us hunt out of a boat with a pop up blind. Me, my Dad, and my brother in law. I always sit in the middle, my dad on front deck with our dog on a attached platform, and my brother in law in the back by the gatortail.

I will get my thermacell started then clip it on the blind in front of me, in what seems like a minute or less the buzzing of mosquitoes in my ears are gone then I notice they are gone period. Then I ask my Dad & Brother in law if they are be bothered or bite by any and they say know.

I also have a patio light thermacell as t home for nights around the firepit and such. I absolutely love my Thermacell products and wouldn’t trade them for any other type or repellent. I know these work in the toughest mosquito infested hunting area there is, the marshes in south Louisiana!!!.

I had the old unit with the turn knob to turn on the fuel and the small button to light it. It worked great for many years. When it finally quit working I immediately bought another only it was this “new and improved” unit.

Well the little switch for the gas gets turned on all the time when not in use and empties the fuel cartridge. The bigger ignition button requires multiple clicks before the gas lights. If I ever find the old model I’ll buy as many as I can find cause you can’t be in the woods in South Georgia without one of these.

If it worked why change it.

Went up camping and heard about the Thermacell products and thought we would grab one on the way up. The 1st 2 times we used it we had no problem lighting it. As the weekend went on we had to keep trying to light it as it wouldn’t always ignight.

By the last day it took 10 tries to light it and finally it worked. Then we discovered it didn’t work at all!! We watched as the mosquitoes flew all around it and us. I have so many mosquitoe bites its crazy.

Yes it was working because the blue pads turned white and we could see the smoke from it. My advice would be save your money!.

I use this black and decker bug zapper for both indoor and outdoor during these buggy summer nights. My indoor usage is inside my garage but when I have the rear man door and large 2 car garage door open I get quite a bit of uninvited horseflys and knats with mosquitoes.

I place this light at the other end of my garage by the door so it draws them away from woodshop area. For outdoors I use this zapper on a gargen pot sheppards hook and place about 10 feet away from our patio.

I used to use black and decker items over 20 years ago with the versa pak swappable battery pack tools and was not aware that black and decker was still in business. I have happy with this light and glad to see this brand is still in existence making great items.

The product is sturdy and strong. Very big. I thought it was USB charge but wired is fine because I have outdoor wall outlet that can give it electricIty. I have a stand in the front and backyard. I could put it hanging with the metal hanger and leave it outdoor.

Very convenient. Replacement bulb is great if I need it for the future. I haven’t been able to test if it work or not when it comes to zapping fly and mosquitoes since it is still a little cold but I would bet it will work when the insects come out.

We bought this because we have always issues with mosquitoes, as we live by the water. I wanted to buy one for a while, but was concerned a about the efficiency of a lamp like this. As Memorial bbq was terrible, due to many bites I thought I give this a chance, as it is a name brand product.

It works great and you can hear it zizzle sometimes. We cleaned it and found quite a few victims. Great product for parents of small kids if you don’t want to use spray on their delicate skin.

It works wonders. I have houseplants, and we’ve accidentally left a few drinks out and about that promoted gnats. Shut off the lights, cleaned up everything, leaving them plugged in for a week, and we’re no longer miserable.

It’s so nice.

Some rooms don’t get mosquitos but the room that mattered the most was our toddlers room. She would wake up with bites on her face until we started using these. NOTE!! WE HAVE BEEN USING FOR 2 YEARS NOW.

The effect is very good, especially at night. A real mosquito killer, when I turned on the machine the next day, I could see a lot of killed mosquitoes inside
