20 Best Oil For Folding Knives (2022 Updated)

I needed something to lube my aluminum slider tracks for my sliding garage doow screens and it needed to be dry. This spray goes on wet and quickly dries. There is no odor once it dries also. This is working great to date with my sliding screen sections five in total able to slide with ease.

If we get heavy rains I reapply this as it will wash away with a hard rain. Great product that suits my purpose perfectly.

I have to say this stuff is fantastic. I have an older buffet, the drawers of which were swollen and completely stuck. The handles had been removed since I had earlier been hoping to refinish it. Well, I tried long time to get the drawers out, to no avail, when I happened upon this stuff in Home Essentials Direct.

Thought I’d give it a try and I’m happy to report, being able to squirt it in around the drawer edges with the straw attachment and using a thin putty blade, I was finally able to get the drawers to freely open.

Well worth the money and then some! I am quite pleased with this and highly recommend it!.

I am a big fan of Super Lube products and the Teflon spray is great like most of their products. Awesome where you need dry lubrication such as throttle cables, garage door wheels, or any sliding surfaces you don’t want grime in.

I use this stuff on the slide bars on my sliding mitre saw. It lubricates without attracting saw dust and dirts.

I’ve used this product before, and it does a great job of dry lubricating.

If you are riding in the rain a lot, this is the best lubricant out there for keeping your chain lubed. It goes on, and stays on. But there’s a caveat. It attracts a lot of grime, dirt, dust and anything else.

It only takes a short period of time before your chain will be loaded with gunk. However, if you’re the kind of person who is okay cleaning your chain, and re-applying the lube every 50-100 miles or so, then this may be a great lubricant for you.

Do NOT use this lube in dry conditions, or just everyday riding. You’ll regret it, for the aforementioned reasons.

I commute on the PNW coast – even when it’s not raining the ground is usually wet for 3 seasons. I’ve never felt I needed to reapply in-between bike washes, which I usually only do if there’s noticeable mud and gunk caked on the bike.

I did a 140-mile bikepacking jaunt in Montana in dry conditions with lots of dust. I applied the lube beforehand and didn’t take any with me, and all was fine. What’s nice about this is you can hose off the drivetrain and the lube is still mostly there.

It’s a great product too if you aren’t prone to frequent maintenance.

Please note this product is made for wet conditions. If you get out on a ride with heavy rain and snow or intend to have fun on a muddy trail, I would say go for it. If you take rides in dry conditions or even heavy fog, go for Finish Line Dry.

Don’t assume your ride will be pleasant if you use this product in dry summer, spring, fall, or even winter. A lot of cyclists who get on a ride or two a season believe the wetter, the better, but it is not.

This product is good for a few “wet rides. ” It is sticky, so heavy rain or salt won’t wash it away easily. It is definitely too wet and too greasy for “dry rides. ” If you buy it for dry rides, expect having to clean your chain drive more frequently.

I personally love Finish Line Dry even for wet conditions. It keeps the entire chain drive clean and smooth. I have noticed though that 1-hour rides in heavy rain leave only a trace of the lube on my chain.

Road salt is something I struggled with for a long time. This 2 oz. bottle helped solve the problem. I apply it whenever I know it will rain for a day, or two. I apply it whenever I hear salt trucks cruising around my neighborhood.

In addition to the qualities mentioned in my caption above, I enjoy the ease and precision of applying Polylube 1000 with a small grease gun. The tub allows for easy scooping of the grease into the gun, and using a gun avoids the ‘end of the toothpaste tube’ awkwardness and waste that would be encountered when trying to squeeze out the last ounce of grease from a tube.

I am aware of the number of experienced cyclists etc. who use Park Tool Bicycle Grease. A good number of YouTubers also use this product. As this will be a first for me, I’m looking for to its use.

This was allot cheaper at O Riley’s vs other retailers. Used it to lube a pocket knife pivot and some reels as well. Great viscosity not too thin, not too thick. Nice medium light weight. Lucas oil makes great products!.

Works great. Tried it on some of my older penn reels and it did a great job.

This is a great oil for bearings in your fishing reel. Just a drop or two and done

I have spent a lot of time evaluating my knives. Blade style, function, metal, and does it really work for my needs. Unless the blacksmith brings his wheel to the gun show, I use my diamond sharpeners and I’ll only use Smith’s Honing Oil.

It has never failed to provide a smooth balanced finish to my blades making them sharp enough to save with. A smooth sharp edge is required of blade and a honing oil must allow the blade to glide. Smith’s has me the goal for decades.

I have been using this for years. It works just great on my diamond stones. Don’t recommend it for regular abrasive stones. Oil based works better for them but I stopped using them when I bought my first diamond stone.

This is NOT a honing OIL but a water-based fluid. If you need honing OIL, this will not work for lower grit stones and you’ll end up clogging or ruining your stone. This might work with a DMT Eze Lap, but if you’re using stones meant for oil, DO NOT BUY.

Benchmade blue lube is a excellent quality knife oil that Ive found to work well with OTF and auto knives. Works good in lubing spring mechanisms, also cleaning and protecting the blades. Highly recommended.

When it comes to knife pivot lubricant there’s a head scratching market out there but this is on my books one of the best for phosphor bronze washers, i have had them all nano, benchmade the list goes on and found this work very well indeed for the value.

It has a pleasant smell not like some and protects the pivot as well as lubricates it i would give this a 8/10 nearly a 9 so 8and a half lol plus it does go a long way.

Improved smoothness. Hard to say anything about long term yet.

I tried a few before this oil. Nano Oil 85w, 3in1, Mineral Oil, Vaseline (LoL), and now Victorinox. The only one that felt good on my Huntsman was Victorinox. 3in1 oil felt gritty and made the action awful, Vaseline didn’t do anything, Mineral Oil is too thin, and Nano Oil doesn’t feel quite there.

However somehow Victorinox beats them all, go figure! I’ll probably end up using the Nano oil and Victorinox for everything going forward, but with how inexpensive the Victorinox is it’ll become my main.

There are many oils on the market for multi-tools but I like to use the Victorinox one for all my knives. Although it’s a small bottle you literally only need a drop on each tool/blade &, voilà, you’ve got a smooth operation.

I recently used it on a 1980s Economy Climber after swapping out the old scales to new ones. A clean in warm soapy water got rid of years of gunk &, after drying, a few drops of the multi-tool oil got the blades operating as smoothly as they did on the day it was made.

This the factory recommend oil for Swiss Army knives. The key difference from generic oil is this is food grade oil, so it claims, assuming you will use the SAK to cut fruits or edibles at some time.

The dropper makes it easy to deploy. I tried making my own, it will cost $5 to buy a bulk set of eye dropper bottles, and $10 to get a small bottle of castor oil, which is similar and non-gunking. Overall cheaper in the long run per oz, if you use a lot of oil, otherwise its wasted.

So the tiny SAK is cost effective for use with pocket knives. Just use regular oil on your other multitools.

I love the smell of this oil. I was looking for a less expensive alternative to thieves. I was not disappointed. I love this oil and will purchase again soon!

I have a Fellowes shredder for home use. All all these 2 years I have been ignorant that its needs frequent oiling for optimal purpose. I realized the shredder is deteriorating in performance with paper getting stuck each time.

It is then i decided to read the manual and was enlightened that how important it is to keep it oiled. I wanted to go for a branded one instead of going for a cheap ones available. Was glad when I saw the Fellowes brand.

Pros. 1. As this is sold by Fellowes, you know this is just right for your Fellowes shredder. Do not take a chance with the cheaper options available. 2. It was packed well and safe by Amazon. 3. Its a quite a big bottle and will last for months based on how frequent use.

4. The red cap snaps on the tip and prevents the oil from spills. 5. The performance of my shredder has increased since I used it. It is less noisy and give better performance. I now realized its a must have.

Cons. 1. The tip on the bottle is sealed and will need to cut open with a scissor. You will not realize this and may accidentally cut it lower and end up spilling lot more oil when using. Make sure you just pierce the nozzle.

Overall very glad that i purchased this. I now know how important it is to keep the shredder oiled and this one is an excellent quality. I will recommend this.

We all know machines will be destroyed if you skip out on maintenance or lubrication. If you have an office or care about anything, this is an inexpensive dose of preventative maintenance for your shredder.

Every time you dump out the tray just drizzle a sheet of paper with this magic dinosaur juice, sandwich another sheet on top of the oil so you dont drip any on your nice new shoes or moms carpet then feed it into your shredder so the fun keeps going.

If you do this, your shredder will work better and you wont burn out the motor. That used to happen to me and this oil will stop it. Its a machine with closefitting moving parts. OF COURSE it works better with lubricationThis bottle will last a long time and its cheaper than the others.

We have an old shredder which was not working as well as it had in the past. We never used shredded oil as the instruction booklet does not indicate a need to do so. I checked prices of new shredders and we decided to see if we used this oil if we could get the shredder working better.

We used this oil and now the shredder is working fine. We plan to use the shredder oil on a regular basis to keep the shredder going!.

I didn’t use this on my car but on my Impala Rollerskates. I saw a YouTube channel of this girl with Impala Rollerskates cleaning her bearings with WD-40 instead of speed cream. It actually worked out! I wouldn’t use it all the time but it’s a handy alternative to have when you’re in a pinch.

Be sure your bearings are super clean with the pure acetone. Soak them in pure acetone for a minute or two if they’re really dirty, spin bearings and let them dry. Otherwise, you can use the Bones Bearing cleaner a few times or make your own bearings cleaner.

When you go to use the WD-40 be liberal with it. Spin your bearings right after and let them dry on a lint free towel on top of cardboard magazine. If your bearings seem stuck or slower to spin than the other bearings you can try soaking or cleaning them again.

Once they are dry try reapplying the WD-40. If your bearings are still stuck then you probably need to replace your bearings. Good luck! Tip: Spray outside, wear goggles, gloves & a mask.

I love WD-40 and use it a lot around the home. I’m also a production weaver and use WD-40 as part of my regular loom maintenance. Think pulleys and metal on metal parts, things that need to hinge or slide, preferably without any friction to cause wear or annoying noise.

The product works great. However, my one complaint in the past has been that I always need the precise stream application, and I’m forever losing the straw. Sometimes losing the straw down in the loom as I try to pinpoint application.

Worked exactly as I thought it would work. I have a big old three quarter ton Chevy Suburban that’s its most of the winter, they use it during all the warm months to move my big sailboat from dry storage to the boat ramp.

My big old suburban works perfectly for that. I keep everything working good by giving it a thorough inspection. As I’m doing so I lubricate all the moving Parts with a little WD-40. My big old 89 Suburban does not squeak one bit going down the road.

And man does that thing tow. !.

I’ve been wanting an Opinel forever just never got around to it. This knife is amazingly sharp with the quality carbon blade and i do admire the simplicity of the lightweight wooden handle. It’s as simple as they get.

Unfortunately, that simplified design causes the wood to swell and contract with fluctuations in temperature, more to the point dewpoint and humidity. This can make opening and closing the knife a PIA.

Also, as these French blades, even though cheaply priced are sorely sought after, it would have been awesome to see an option for a case or some sheath holder to protect the knife and wooden handle when not in use.

Overall I expected more from the Company who has been bumping out blades for over 100 years. Oh the other knife was so insignificantly tiny i couldn’t process it as a real blade. IT reminded me of one of those little derringer screwdrivers that comes with the hardware set on a piece of new furniture.

Like it was made for the people of Lilliput. SO i just gave that to my father who uses it on his 1800s ship modeling project.

Brilliant pocket knife. Simple, solid mechanism, nice wood handle that’s well shaped and well finished. Dropped a star because the edge was a bit rolled. Didn’t take long to get perfect with emery paper, now it has a really sharp edge that lasts well.

I think the edge is slightly convex rather than 100% flat and better for it. I’ve been making shims tricky bits of shuttering to repair a roof. Therese were only from pine wood but very seasoned and it slices through without much effort.

Can’t open one-handed, but very easy to close and lock one handed – handy working at height and holding on with other hand.

When I use camping equipment, I really use camping equipment. I have done this with the Opinel Carbone No. 7, and despite its delicate look and reviews from others here, it has managed to survive with only a few visible wounds.

When I first got the knife, it was sharpened to a hair-splitting incisiveness. Whittling? Cheese? Fabric? Paper? Bag of moose meat? Ropes to tow gliders? Awkward silences? It cut them with ease and joy.

With little care other than occasional “oiling” from greasy food, it retained that youthful gleam. That is, until I used it to open a tuna can. It opened the can really well — but the edge bent. The knife was actually still quite sharp, just kind of 1mm was sideways.

After about a year in this functional yet downgraded condition, I found someone to sharpen the wee beastie and give it the TLC it so-very-much desired and needed. It looks a little chippy now, but it is still sharper than any of my other knives (which isn’t that hard to be).

This past summer, the knife and I went on about a dozen backcountry paddling trips. It’s my primary knife — it thrived in wet conditions being driven into wood, sand and food. It lost the ring for its locking mechanism (hence the loss of one star), but it still seems to stay closed or open, whichever I prefer at that moment.

All in all, this is my most solid knife that still hasn’t been confiscated at an airport. It was a steal at the price for which I purchased it (which I can’t state because of the terms and conditions of reviewing here, but it was regular price circa 2017).

I bought this product mainly to lubricate folding tools and knives pivots bushings etc. The needle applicator tube is a little large for getting in through the tightest spaces of my miniature knives.

Flattening the tip of the cylindrical needle is not an option, since the little lid for the needle wouldnt fit. In that case, oil would come out when squeezing the bottle by accident under transportation.

That brings me to the bottle. It is beatifully well made, has a nice resistance to it when squeezing out oil. And the pocketclip is good. And the exterior needle cover sits nicely on the bottle. I have medical syringes for applying in the tightest of crevices, so to me i get everything i neednout of this product.

And more. I will probably not run out ever. Even though i lube up moving parts for others as well. Well, i will try to lube more generously where needed 🙂 If you are a devoted fishing man, i think this bottle will lube up a large reel, generously, around 90 times.

Amazing ,affordable oil that works! Sent quickly as well. Thank you so much. With the easy to use tube with the needle nose tip this oil has freshend up my reels and now they are working nice and smooth again with no squeaking.

When it works it’s great, however the needle tip clogs constantly. I read another review where it mentions heating the tip to get the oil flowing again. It worked twice and now it’s clogged and won’t free up.

I still have 95% of the oil left and it is useless.

I’ve used other products on my pocket knives but this one seems to lubricate much better.

I believe this to be the best knife cleaner available, it’s thorough but gentle I wouldn’t want to be without it.

I tried this chain lube as it is a respected brand and expensive, so it has to be good, right? I throughly cleaned and dried my mtb chain and entire driveline (SRAM 1×12 Eagle) then shook the bottle and applied a drip to every link on the chain.

After the solvent evaporated it looked like there was nothing there! Went for a ride and the gear change was ok but the drive line noise was higher than I have experienced with wet lubes. After only a 5 mile dry ride the noise and change were concerning.

I thought there was a problem with the drive! I applied extra lube which helped for a while but then noise returned. I cleaned the whole driveline and went back to my regular cheap wet oil lube. Now the driveline was back to its perfect change and near total silence.

So not impressed with this Finish Line Teflon Plus Dry chain lube.

So much cleaner than the wet variety! I remove my chain and after degrease and cleaning, let it sit in this lube while I clean the rest of the drive train, then wipe it down and replace chain. works great and doesn’t seem to collect as much grit and grime as the wet lubes.

I ride a full suspension MTB on and off road and use this procedure about every 200-250 miles. about 2 or 3 weeks. 8 oz bottle probably a 6 month supply for me. Gets a thumbs up from me!.

I reapply every 150 or 200 miles. Every 600 miles i remove the chain and cassettes and clean with a safe solvent and dry the chain the sun. Then apply the FLTP lube once, wait overnight then reapply.

Keeps the chain quiet and increases the life of the drivetrain.
