20 Best Oil For Knife Handles (2022 Updated)

I use it to rust proof a knife with cpm m4 steel, this oil was highly recommended because other oils may not be good when cutting fruits or vegetables or anything edible. Takes very little to protect the blade.

Non sticky. Working great as advertised. Good quality and good price. Recommend.

Care of fine knives is a must. They can last generations with proper maintenance & this oil is the first step.

I didnt get this for the intended purpose. My kids have a dirtbike that takes mineral oil for the clutch and this worked great. It is easier to come by I literally looked everywhere for the correct mineral oil to put in the clutch and could only find it on Ebay and it was quite expensive so I got this as an alternative and it works great.

I couldn’t tell you how good it is for it’s intended purpose but it works great for this.

I have some amazing David Levy cutting board that I bought over 10 years ago. They are made of distinctly colored woods laminated into a cutting board. I haev done nothing to maintain them since purchese.

I used this mineral oil after applying 000 fine steel wool and the board looks better than new. The wood has a clean, rich feel and the colors are amazing. I have 2 more boards to do and I bought moe to do them.

I also did a new large cutting board 18×30. It was rough surface and very dry. Now it feels a lot better and I am about to put a second coat on it.

This product does a great job with cutting boards. It was used on a cutting board that my family uses everyday, and I’m very satisfied with the result. I would recommend this product for cutting boards.

Just follow the instructions on the label.

Two things you need: Duct tape & this dry lube. Dry lube goes on rather wet so it goes into cracks – crevices but then the moisture dries up leaving a type of lithium grease where it is needed to reduce friction.

Does that explain it??? Hope so. WD40 is a light oil & doesn’t work like this stuff. Use this stuff on car door key locks, hinges, and front door key holes. Anyways, stuff works great. Use a think rubber band around the can so you don’t lose that all-important red straw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Duct tape to hold stuff together & dry lube to loosen stuff up.

Ive used this spray on more things than I anticipated. My favorite so far has been for door strikes which didnt close easily. Now doors just glide closed with just the push of a finger. Also used on the underside of my zero turn mower deck which tends to accumulate a lot of grass clippings.

Now the grass doesnt stick nearly as much. Im sure it b will require occasional re-application but thats better than scraping hardened, moldy, wet clippings on your back under the deck. Great product.

This stuff has a wow factor that’s off the charts. I sprayed my window track and it zoomed open. This is one of those inexpensive, metal sliding windows typical of CA construction that sounds like you’re grinding something every time you open it.

I had to put a stop in the track for fear of breaking the window while opening it. It worked so well I went looking for other windows and sliding doors to lube. My car is next! Then my neighbors’ houses then.

Amazing product!.

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!!!! The creams/oils are VERY VERY VERY old. They were made in 2015. The cream is so old and hard it will not come out the tube. And it smells like cigarettes. It’s terrible. I’m returning ASAP.

And calling and reporting them for selling this old garbage. The cutting board came all busted up because there was zero protection. ZERO. Just thrown in a box. Do not buy from here.

I was pleased with how quickly it arrived and in great shape. I will definitely plan to order again from this vendor. By the way, this stuff really lasts a LONG time. A little truly goes a long way.

I have been using this on all 3 of my cutting boards ever since I got it. I have used mineral oil in the past, but this seems to work a lot better. My Shun board, in particular, was dry and dusty feeling before I used it, but it’s getting a nice patina (for lack of a better word) now.

I also like the squirt bottle to get it on the board. Not messy at all, like the mineral oil was. I recommend this product completely!.

I ordered proteak butcher block cutting board oil, but everything kitchens sent teak haus cutting board oil. Granted, it’s roughly the same stuff, but still, you don’t substitute a product without the buyers approval.

I ordered this along with my Teakhaus board, and it does the job. It was competitively priced, and coats fine without having to use too much.

Easy to use, no mess, no clean-up, seems to provide a great “seasoning” for the wood.

I applied this to my brand new Boos Edge Cherry Cutting board, and allowed it to seep in overnight. I applied it to one side, including the edges and inside the handle area then repeated the process to the other side the next day.

I use the cream on my board twice a year, following that same routine, overnight each side. Every six weeks, I apply the John Boos OIL to a cleaned board. My cutting board is now 5 years old and in excellent condition.

This is a great product and I highly recommend that it be the first step when purchasing a new cutting board and then be used alternately with the oil to maintain the wood.

Mostly dry dusty conditions here. I have been using Rock N Roll Extreme (blue) for years now. Keeps the chain clean, good for several dry rides before needing to reapply. You can reapply and wipe excess of chain which cleans the chain quite a few times before really needing to get in and wash your drive train.

Colorado also dumps heavy rain at times. I have used this in very wet conditions and rain. Not sure if anything really works well with wet grit, sand and mud on the chain. The only thing I can say is once you get home it is really easy to wash and clean your drive train and chain when Rock N Roll was used in comparison to using a super wet condition chain formula which is usually sticky, greasy, waxy and hard to clean off.

Some of my friends have moved on to using another type of chain cleaner lubricant. They say it is better, but I didn’t have the time to investigate and bought into a 16oz bottle of Rock N Roll. This is good stuff and will be using it for as long as that bottle lasts which could be a couple years more.

Years ago, I think I tried every single lube available. If I hadn’t tried it, I’d buy it and see what it was like. I now occasionally try other stuff when I see something new, and I even tried hot wax for a while.

Hot wax was was pretty nice. but it wasn’t much good for more than a ride, and the work+time involved was not worth it for me. This is the next best thing; I never found another lube that suited mountain biking as well as this one.

It does “clean and lube”. Follow the instructions and you’ll be good to go. It does require more frequent application than some. it’s not a “lube your chain and forget about it until it squeaks” kind of lube.

but if you wanted that, you probably wouldn’t be reading lube reviews. That said, it’s super easy and fast. Using this product regularly will keep your chain clean and smooth with minimal work. Better chain longevity also.

I ride a fairly high end Roadbike and am meticulous about maintenance. I’ve tried just about every lube available and many have been exceprionally good at reducing wear but they always eventually left gunk on my chain and pulleys.

Then I tried Extreme Purple and it was good, but didnt last long. My LBS gave me my first bottle of this Rock & Roll Gold to try and I really liked it it left my drivetrain clean and quiet, but at first, i felt it also didnt last very long.

But what I discovered was that with multiple applications, the longevity increased. There’s a great video on You Tube by Friction Facts that scientifically tests the different lubes and this stuff ranks amonst the top performers for friction reduction.

Completely degrease your chain first or your first couple of applications will be pulling out gummy lube out the chain. I removed mine and shook it in a bath of mineral spirits to remove all the old lube.

Now I only use this stuff and maintenance is muh easier.

Its blue! Its slick! It works good on my old school auto. Stimulus thats it. Just got it but have wanted one forever. Carried Axis Folder with the same Pardue shape/size blade for years. Wanted part aerated but the straight has its advantages.

Anyway, give her a bath in warm water and dish soap. Get the lint out. Air duster whatever. Dry then a couple dots in the right spots. Perfect unfold everytime. Locks/unlocks better I mean smoother. Makes button not feel crunchy.

Crunchy is bad. My buddy said its a dry lube and come to think Of it Ive had none run out period. Its clean to use. No grease marks on my pants yet. It is like blue fountain pen ink in appearance. ??? So may be.

I will probably give it a try with other folders that I usually use Frog Lube or WWII light machine oil. Benchmade is nothing but quality from my experience and Im in love with this auto. Its a pocket knife+ Classic.

Greasy grease makes it work right.

I like this Blue Lube. It works really well on my Benchmade knife. One suggestion that I would offer to users, when opening the end of the spout don’t cut it, instead, use a pin or needle to puncture the end.

That way, the opening will be smaller and you can control the flow of oil better without squirting oil all over. Great product.

This oil works as advertised. The viscosity is perfect for keeping it where it needs to be. I have used it on half a dozen knives so far with excellent results.

This mineral oil is great. it can be used for so many thing. I like to use it in my lotion. it is great for your skin. Also i have hard wood floors throughout my house and i use it to clean the floors it gives them an extra shine.

it also helps with creaky floors. I have an older house so alot of places int he hard wood squeak so a little of this mineral oil helps get rid of it. The is so many other things mineral oil can be used for.

i would recommend every one to keep some around for daily purposes.

This seems to be a good quality, high grade mineral oil you can use for cooking, on wood, as a facial cleanser and more! I will have it in difference containers labeled for different uses and definitely keeping some in my bathroom for cleansing my face.

It doesn’t have a taste or odor so you could use it as a carrier oil for essential oils quite easily if you are experienced in that. I was surprised at the many, many uses of it.

Has so many uses. Did you know that you can rub mineral oil all over a egg shell of FRESH FROM THE FARM NOT WASHED eggs. But back in cartons place in cool dry place (like your cupboard) and they will stay good up to so far 9 months.

Use food grade oil.

We love this product. It smells so good. I use it in my wax warmer for our sinus congestion and to kill the germs in our home. We rub it on our chest and back for congestion and swelling. If you have a headache rub it on your forehead, temples, the back of your neck, anywhere that is swollen and hurting.

I hate being without it.

I think its very similar to the young living. I use the spray bottle a friend gave me to spray it on my hands and inhale. it kills bacteria and smells amazing. the price is great. shipped fast. would recommend.

Their title and description said “Compare to Thieves Oil by Young Living” but this is NOTHING like it! It may have a drop of the 5 main oils but it’s lacking the ratios to make it effective, especially lacking in clove and rosemary.

Save your money and buy a different brand.

WD-40 Specialist High Performance Silicone Spray 400ml I have worked on vehicles both professionally and personally for approximately 33 years, I also worked in mechanical machining and engineering for 12 years.

I decided to purchase the WD-40 Silicone spray after a few hours spent online researching the product and viewing others reviews. Every grease and spray lubricant is designed for a specific purpose, it is in most applications essential to apply the correct type of lubricant in relation to the role and purpose of the component it is being applied and used on.

In addition, it is also essential to ensure that no other component used in the parts construction will be damaged by the addition of the grease or lubricant. Can you use another alternative lubricant or grease type that it is not intended for? Yes, in some applications this is possible, however i would pose this question, olive oil, lard, suet, butter, and margarine are also greases so would any sane person pack a wheel bearing or lubricate a component with these! Using an incorrect grease or lubricant can either cause immediate damage, or over a longer period of time cause rapid and significant wear of the part to occur.

(Example) Using copper grease on caliper guide pin bolts! I have seen dozens of user posts made on vehicle repair forums where people recommend or suggest using copper grease for this application, and truth be told used this myself for this exact application.

The end result, it worked; however in the process it caused severe wear to the guide pin bores and guide pins, I discovered many many years later my mistake, use a pure silicone grease only. One of the additional spray lubricants i have purchased for use is, WD-40 Specialist High Performance PTFE spray 400ml.

Technically WD-40 Silicone spray should be the correct grease type for the brake guide pins application then. NO, the WD40 silicone spray lubricant contains other oils and chemicals in addition to the silicone component, this applies to all spray lubricants, in addition it is a spray oils lubricant, and not a grease.

It will destroy the butyl rubber gasket seal on the guide pins and possibly the caliper piston seal if it contaminates it, this applies to all spray oils and greases. In this instance, for clarification purposes I first read the data sheet available for the silicone spray on WD-40’s domain website, apparently the effect on other substrates and materials has yet to be clarified! Then i tested the WD-40 silicone spray on an old calipers guide pins and pistons rubber seals, the end result was that the seals swelled and expanded making them loose fitting and ultimately useless in sealing their intended components.

Does this mean that you should stay away from this or any other spray lubricant or grease? No, as mentioned at the beginning these lubricants are designed for specific application, just ensure you do not accidentally contaminate another non compatible plastic or rubber.

Use the correct tool for the job, and if in any doubt test and or read the sprays technical documentation. So how does the WD-40 Specialist High Performance Silicone spray perform. Unfortunately i have yet to use this spray on an application, however I have used the WD-40 PTFE, and also the standard WD-40 anti seize spray many times over the years with excellent results.

The standard WD-40 lubricant has always performed superbly on difficult to remove and stubborn nuts screws and bolts, as well as other applications. Their is no reason to believe that the WD-40 Silicone spray will not perform as well.

The spray will apply just as precisely and easily using the available built in straw, and also provide even and good coverage if using the built in wide angle nozzle option. I tested the silicone spray and it dries to a tack free finish, which will help significantly in preventing clogging and sticking issues, as well as repelling excess dirt and dust contamination.

It will last a very long time, as their is sufficient quantity in the can for many applications to be applied. Toolstation themselves has become one of my go to stores over the years for many items I have required, they are very competitive with their pricing, and have always provided a highly reliable service, in addition the stores advisors have always been helpful and courteous when i have visited the store directly.

I was recently stranded when my car’s remote key fob stopped functioning (not the battery in it). I keep the actual key handy; however, it had been so long since I’d actually used it that the locks had frozen.

AAA was suggesting a 4 hr. window for showing up, and the nearest car dealership where I could purchase a new remote would have been closed by then. I’m lucky in that the lock-out happened not on a remote road but at a shopping mall.

I figured I was in luck when I saw Harbor Freight’s sign. Sure enough, they had this silicone spray, and it worked immediately. Fortunately, I did not listen to the salesperson who thought your store didn’t carry it.

The only negative is the size of the can. I think this would be handy to carry with me for just such emergencies if it were a small size. Even using it when I got home on a squeaky door hinge, I still think it will take forever for me to use up such a large can.

Bottom line: excellent product.

I’m a ground maintenance worker at my local state park, and this trusted shop standby has a new use – preventing camper’s fees from ending up in the wrong hands. Let me explain. We have a camping fee drop box that is pillaged at night, mainly from non-campers stealing camper’s fee envelopes.

What they usually do is that they take a wired coat hanger, place some adhesive on one end, and fish the envelopes from the slot. Coming from a tech background, I know that the WD-40 Multi-Use Product is a really effective dissolver of adhesives.

To this product’s success, it has successfully dissolved wet patch roofing adhesive to CatchMaster Bulk, the very same or similar glue substance used on many rodent glue traps. It even leaves no residue behind so that no envelopes are easily rippable.

If there was one question I’d ask, that would be “What happened to the non-aerosol-based WD-40 Multi-Use Product Trigger Pro?” It had a very nice spray area as far as I’ve read, and I’m wondering if it will make a comeback.

With this product being over 50 years old, it continues to astound me. My grandfather and father used and introduced me to it, and I’m a fan of this humble spray can. Thanks!.

The name of this item is “WD-40 Multi-Use Product”. Nowhere on the bottle does it claim to be a lubricant. Nowhere on the bottle does it say Multi-Use lubricant. WD-40 does not make that claim. Canadian tire just made it up out of thin air.

WD-40 is a solvent and a degreaser. The exact opposite of a lubricant. It can lubricate, it is not a lubricant. Very different things. If a tool is gummed up with grease and grime it will dissolve the grime and unstick the tool.

In that way it lubricates the tool by dissolving the grime that was holding it in place. But it is not an actual lubricant by itself. Its a clean and it gets stuck parts moving again so you can clean it off and apply a real lubricant afterwards.

It’s a nice sized can of a very useful solvent with some lubricating qualities. I use WD-40 for a lot of things, and this is a nice sized can for cheaper than just about anywhere. WD-40 is primarily a water repellent solvent.

It works well to dry out distributors (Back in the day when they had points and condensers inside of them) It works great as a tool preservative, if you spray the tool and wipe it with a paper towel that is also sprayed with WD-40 it will remove all the water and inhibit rust.

I don’t use it to lubricate hinges, either in buildings or vehicles, but it has a million uses besides that. (WD-40 will not last as long as some top-quality lubricants for hinges. The brand I use is Wurth HHS-K.

It sprays on, doesn’t run at all and you won’t need to re-lube the car door hinge for years. ) I do use WD-40 to loosen up frozen or just plain cruddy car door locks that don’t want to open. It is particularly useful at removing cheap price tags that have cuts in them so you cannot remove them in one piece.

Spray it with WD-40 and the tag will come right off a minute or two later. Then a tiny bit of dish soap will remove the WD-40. (Plates, glasses, cups, bowls, etc. etc. ).

You need this to keep your motor nice and oily to prevent wear. The great thing about this one is it can be used for all your clippers sets (dogs and people) barber and groomer, you can use this on all your clippers instead of just your dog sets.

I don’t use the same bottle of course, but I have a bottle at my shop for people and a bottle at home for my dogs. The main difference is for people I will top my clippers with the oil sheen spray, as for dogs I top my clippers with the Cool spray as I don’t have to worry about hot clippers for people.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR BLADES LUBED AND CLEAN BY USING DISINFECTANT SPRAY AND LUBE TO PREVENT WEAR, trust me. Your clippers can last 1-2 years or 9-10.

It works. BUT you may as well just go ahead and get yourself the tub of Extend-A-Life Blade Rinse instead, as that lubricates with the same exact ingredient (low molecular weight mineral oil) — AND disinfects and helps remove the ground in hairs! You’ll need to get that anyway, and that already does the job of this too… so this becomes a total waste of money! You can’t even use this on your shears instead, as clipper oil is too heavy for shears (you’ll need the Chris Christensen Shear Oil Pen for that)! TL;DR: Get the tub of Top Performance Extend-A-Life Blade Rinse instead! Chewy sells it, too!.

I would like to take this opportunity to record my views about the WAHL clipper 9899 I bought sometime ago. I have two problems with it: 1. It is easy to nick your skin, especially the neck skin. 2. It is very difficult to refit a cutter.

There are no guiding marks on the fitting or the body of the clipper to match.

Use it on an old (japanese slip joint knife ) from the1960s and a few other knives that I own and it did a decent job. Polished up the newer stuff well (the older knives still kept most of there patina but look much nicer and I am very happy with the out come).

The diamond plate sharpener works decently well at sharpening few of my blades. It won’t replace my Smith’s Field Sharpener or wet stone but will work in a pinch. All in all I would recommend this product as a good all a round knife maintenance solution.

This knife was found 30 yrs ago in a cabin in Canada. Then spent the last 3 yrs in the damp basement. It was completely corroded and now there is some clean metal showing. Which is why I gave it 4 stars.

I didnt think that was possible. This product did all it could do. I plan on trying my Dremel with this product. If there is great improvement, I’ll post new pics.

This is an amazing product. The solution and fibre cloth cleaned off horrid marks from my knives which were spotted and rust stained by a relative who put them through the wash while house sitting. I used this on a global knife and a set of Japanese chef knives as well as some wusthoff knives and they look amazing.

Will 10/10 buy again. It is effortless to get a clean blade. 2 minutes for the biggest of chef knives.

So my Rock Shox 35 Gold forks where real stiff. I got arm pump a mile into a ride. Spoke with a fork specialist that thought maybe a thicker oil work soften things up. Thicker oil made in worse. So I purchase this 5wt oil and changed out the thicker oil in my forks, and guess what?Tthey started working.

I like a soft ride, were low speed bumps aren’t felt. This oil made the Rock Shox 35 Gold forks feel like they were design to. Not as soft as my Lyrics Ultimates, but headed in that direction.

The suspension I used this oil on uses a grease as opposed to oil, so upon buying this I wasn’t aware of this fact. There’s also the possibility this fluid is designed for a rear shock, hence the smaller bottle.

I used it on my suspension anyway. There’s plenty in the bottle to service the fork several times, and in the month or so I’ve used it riding in various conditions, mostly commuting to work, I’ve encountered no issues whatsoever.

The only issue was the original suspension grease had mixed with the oil and disturbed the grease in n the air seal, causing it to leak. The fork on my bike is unusual, so I don’t think anyone else would have this issue considering most common air forks and shocks use this oil anyway.

The 15w is a perfect consistency, allowing the fork on my bike to absorb every bump imaginable, no matter how small or abrupt. The consistency also makes the fork operate at an efficiency I didn’t think was possible – the rebound is remarkable with this oil at speed and delicate enough to move in slower progressions.

It’s a phenomenal oil for the money, for sure!.

The only brand I use in my rockshox forks. My only complaint, there should be a little more fluid per bottle. I tend to need 2 bottles and use barely any from the second. As for performance, it is stellar.

It works great for cleaning all moving parts for all my folder knives. If you have ever heard of “Simple Green” cleanser it is the same thing. “Bluelube Cleanser” even smells just the same as “Simple Green”, except “Bluelube is blue in color.

My wife does not like the odor, so I have to use the product in the garage.

I am very satisfied with the Blue lube cleanser. In combination with the Blue lube oil it makes the job of cleaning and lubricating a lot easier to clean all my EDCs!

It’s a great cleaner for Benchmade’s wonderful knives. I consider it a good value at a reasonable price.

I needed to replace the transaxle fluid in my Grasshopper mower. No one locally had the correct fluid. PSC had the best price on the Internet. A few days later and the fluid was in hand and my mower is purring like new.

I use this in my home shop Hurco CNC mill. It was recommended to me by a friend that has a similar mill. It seems to work great. The mill is 20+ years old with 45,000 hrs so I try to do anything I can to keep it in good shape.

It seems to do a good job. The price at Enco is half what the same product costs elsewhere! The gallon jug is easy to handle and easy to pour into my Hurco’s oiling system.

I was surprised that no hazardous material charge was placed on this product. Its sale price, reduced further by the one-day sale discount, brought this oil to 1/4 cost of the same product locally. Unbelievable.
