20 Best Oil For Makeup Removal (2022 Updated)

Short version: it took off all my makeup and sunscreen 100% with nothing left behind AT ALL, didn’t dry or irritate my sensitive skin, and didn’t leave behind any residue. Long version: I bought this to remove water resistant sunscreen without drying out my skin.

But I figured I’d see how well it did with water proof mascara and eyeliner too. So I gobbed on tons of sunscreen, foundation, contour, full eye makeup, water proof everything, until I was one Dolly Parton wig short of fabulous.

Then I applied about a quarter sized dollop of this magical concoction, rubbed it around, rinsed AND NO MAKEUP REMAINED. Not even the essence of makeup or sunscreen. No raccoon eyes, no black gunk on my wash cloth, no greasy residue, and my face felt as soft as a baby’s hiney.

I have very sensitive, eczema prone skin and so far this hasn’t caused any reactions. You can even open your eyes while using it and it doesn’t burn. If they stop making this stuff I will be very, very sad.

In the beginning, I was feeling good about this product. It seemed pretty easy to apply and remove make up. But after a day or two, I was starting to have acne here and there. And then on the 2nd week of using this product, it finally hit my upper left corner skin of my lips really bad.

One morning I woke and starting to have pain due to this skin irritation. And it will be almost one week me suffering from this pain and inflammation. I cannot stress enough that ever since that day I started using this neutrogena melting balm, I have been getting acnes all over.

But my lip area is the most affected one. Now I had to go to the doctor for antibiotics so it won’t get infected. Pls don’t buy this product. Save yourself from this despair like me.

I saw a makeup remover balm on a YouTube short, and I wanted to give it a try! I saw this Neutrogena one and I was so impressed! I wear black eyeliner and mascara every single day, and when I have special occasions or something to go to, I have pretty heavy eye makeup on.

This will turn into an oil in literally 2 seconds when you rub it and it does just what it says, melts off your makeup! It helps because you don’t have any harsh rubbing that will damage your delicate eye skin.

After I use this, I just take my makeup remover cloth and wipe it away! Tada! You’re done! Then I just cleanse as normal! If you’ve been wanting to try a remover balm, this is a good one to start with for the price!.

My face very suddenly became extremely sensitive so I’ve been having trouble finding products. even if products seem fine, after a few months the irritation and burning would return. This cleanser has worked great and there’s no sign of my skin being irritated.

I love that it’s a 2 in 1 product and it actually does rinse clean without leaving my face feeling greasy. My skin has never felt so soft than it has after using this cleanser. The bottle even comes with a plastic connecter that prevents the pump from being pressed down when you travel! My only critique is sometimes the pump sticks and it can be a tiny bit difficult to pump it out, but that’s fairly minor.

I have been using this product for a couple of weeks now and feel like this is making the difference my skin needed. I felt like my makeup remover wipes just weren’t doing much for me. I read about double cleansing with cleansing oils or balms.

I decided to go with this cleansing oil because I like this brand and the ingredients in it are very clean. I use this product as directed before using my normal cleanser and it really takes it all off.

I no longer see makeup on my cotton ball when I use toner after cleansing. My skin has been less dry, feels cleaner, and just feels more supple. I’m a fan.

wow literally the oil plugs in my face came right out. I felt some grainy texture against my skin after I rubbed it for five seconds. I wasn’t wearing makeup but I have a lot of hard bumps that I know have oils trapped under them.

I abso love this cleanser. At first I was using too much cuz it is a thicker consistency but now about a dime to nickel size, depending on what n how much makeup to remove, and massage it all around.

Smells soft but clean and no more stripping of the moisture barrier I work so hard to maintain but w Pur it’s a pleasurable job! Lol.

I love it so much I don’t use micellar or wipes or any other cleanser. I even use it in the morning just cuz I love it so much! I use Miracle Mist, LOVE! After before my cloud gel cream and eye serum and lifting moisturizer; all Pur, of course! My 57 yr young skin is showing me how happy it is! Makes me feel I have foundation optional skin! I’ve always shied away from oil-based cleansers, only using them for removing mascara and then using a different cleanser for the rest of my face but I love this stuff. It’s thick, but a small amount goes a long way if you use it correctly and really work it into the skin.

I received a bottle if this in a subscription box and didn’t pick it up until I ran out of my other stuff and was in love. It removes waterproof mascara without me having to tug on my eyes-it also doesn’t cause any irritation to my eyes at all which is a problem I’ve always run into no matter how gentle the formula.

After I rub it in and my makeup dissolves, I rinse my face with cool water-that’s it. I dont use anything else afterward and then put on my face cream. My skin looks healthier and younger and I haven’t had a breakout since I began using it (35 with acne-prone skin).

However, I don’t use it on days I don’t wear makeup, and I will go in with another cleanser after I use it if I plan on doing a face mask or other skin treatment so it can penetrate my skin.

I absolutely LOVE the Melt Away Gel Oil Makeup Remover. I am a big fan of gels and oils because I feel like its best for my skin. My skin is sensitive even with gentle products. This Melt Away Gel Oil Makeup Remover actually helps me not go over sensitive areas like my eyes and cheeks, which can become irritated with constant wiping makeup off.

The oil in this product is in the form of a gel and smells like honey to me. There are two ways of using this product. One is to rinse after the breakdown of the makeup with warm water or to use a tissue to wipe of makeup and no rinsing.

This is my favorite options. I love that this gel is thick enough that it won’t run down my face, specially around my eyes. It even breaks down mascara so fast I am not afraid of accidentally pulling of my own eyelashes.

It wipes of shimmer shadow so well and I’m sure its because of the consistency of the products. I’m actually using this Melt Away Gel Oil Makeup Remover mainly for eye use because of how well its works to breakdown the makeup and keeps my skin feeling soft.

No tugging. I use cotton balls after I applied a small amount onto the back of my hand then with one finger pick up a bit of product from there, then gently place on my lids in circular motions like it states.

Works fast! If there is one product to recommend is this one. No irritation and doesn’t dry out the skin.

I’ve repurchased this product multiple times because I know it works for me as part of my double cleanse. However, I wouldn’t say it’s life changing- I’m sure there are cheaper products on the market that are just as effective.

But I like it:) The one star removed is for price, but it’s not too bad compared to other caudalie products and lasts a while! I massage it into my skin, rinse, then follow up with a regular cleanser.

I think of this product as more of a makeup/spf remover rather than a cleanser. I don’t wear heavy face makeup often but I do use a tinted sunscreen everyday. I also wear waterproof mascara most days and will say that this product won’t remove waterproof on its own- I usually add a few drops of micellar waterproof makeup remover in my hands as I’m using this one.

It’s totally safe to massage into the eye area as you’re removing makeup! I prefer it over makeup-removing balms I have tried (drunk elephant, zero brand), but maybe it’s a texture thing. Less sticky feeling? As someone with oily, acne prone skin, non-sensitive skin, I can vouch that this product doesn’t break me out (when used as part of a double cleanse) ! I’d recommend trying it out for sure!.

Even though I have oily skin, I love an oil cleanser as a first step in makeup removal. I have been using this cleanser for a little bit and I like it pretty decently. For the price, it is great! It removes makeup well, leaves the skin feeling soft and not stripped, and it just feels very luxurious.

The only negative things I have to say, and which is why I gave it 4 stars, is that it is fragranced and the spread of the oil isn’t enough. The fragrance is not terrible, it kind of smells like strawberry poptarts in all honesty, but the texture of it means that it needs at least two pumps to truly get to all the makeup.

It is oddly too thick. I will more than likely rebuy this however!.

I like Bobby Brown’s cleansing oil, light weight, no offending smell, and very easy to remove all makeup. Even though my habit is to use eye and lip makeup removal liquid to first remove these areas, I find BB’s cleansing oil not causing my eyes to water.

So pretty mild. Now I am half way through my first bottle of Caudalie’s cleansing oil. I am very impressed. I might even like Caudalie slightly more. Because it is so satisfactory to wash off all makeup with this oil.

And my very dry skin does not feel a tag of dryness. All clean and comfortably moisturized. A definite repurchase.

It’s something else. I got a small sample as part of a bundle kit. I tried it for some of the waxy waterproof eyeliner pencils and some of the more stubborn lipsticks, this stuff takes everything off! It also doubles as a moisturizer.

My poor skin gets so dry, it puts out a lot of oil, but won’t absorb anything, and then washing my face, I have to use a moisturizer, which are usually much too heavy, or my skin is dry and tight and start splitting.

This, especially for eye makeup, is really a game changer, this makes makeup far more feasible cuz now I can take it off at the end of the day no more scrubbing tugging soaking to get a makeup off my eyes I would recommend that you get a cleanse oil for any makeup type this will just, this stuff will make you so happy.

Today I decided to use this product as running out of my usual makeup wipes, bad decision. Almost instantly after applying this product my face, I temporarily became blind sighted. Panicking I tried to use water to remove the product and my eyes became blurry.

In a flash I thought I was going blind. Even after removing this product from my eyes, my eyes are still blurred. Thank god for the lighting on my phone. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to warn potential customers about this product.

Please remove this item from the shelves and if your a customer please run and don’t look back. I wish I could give this product a zero as I will not be using this product again.

I use this in combination with a damp Makeup Eraser and it works perfectly. I like that it doesn’t have a strong scent to it, and it’s great at getting off some of my more stubborn eyeliners without me having to scrub harder.

Because I use the damp cloth, I end up using less product too. My only complaint is the pump. I find it’s a little. aggressive for the way that I use the product. I ended up putting some of it into a smaller oil dropper bottle and that works a lot better for me since I only use a little at a time.

Two drops on my fingertips usually takes care of each eye, and the pump dispenses more, and a lot more quickly, which gets everywhere for me.

This is such a great makeup remover!!! I’ve tried so many, from Korean brands. I fell in love with Banila Co clean it zero cleansing sherbet. But I find it a little pricey, but then I bumped into this little guy at the drugstore.

It works like a charm!! It’s mild on the skin but does the job. I use 3 pumps for my full face of makeup, and removes waterproof mascara and lash glue instantly. 💜 And it smells like apple juice! I’m almost done with my first bottle and I’m definitely repurchasing.

For todays product review, we’ll be going over the Tatcha : Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. 💧🌸 This is the second bottle of this cleanser I’ve completely emptied! (The first bottle being years back, before I even knew how to oil cleanse.

😂) This is a very effective product to breakup sunscreen and presumably makeup as well. While this lovely oil is on your dry skin, adding just a drop of water makes the product emulsify very effectively with minimal effort required, therefore allowing this product to rinse off of your skin with ease.

If you had quite dry skin this could potentially be a one step cleanser by itself, however – most users would likely benefit from following up with their regular cleanser afterwards. I don’t find it leaves my skin feeling oily but, it’s just my instincts that tell me to follow up with a non oil cleanser.

This is more of a sensorial, feel good product with the high-end Tatcha price point, it’s elegant smell and very luxurious feeling. However, I do believe anyone whether it’s someone who’s never used an oil cleanser before or an experienced skincare product tester; both users may equally enjoy this product.

I find a few pumps goes a long way. I’m able to really massage my skin and breakup any sunscreen without having to apply more oil (it doesn’t dry up or absorb into your skin, you know?) I’m a sucker for Tatcha so maybe I’m bias, however up until now this has been one of my all time favourite Oil Cleansers ; for reviews sake I will be moving on to alternative options and forming some opinions 🤔 Highlighted ingredients are – Japanese Camellia Oil – Rice Bran Oil 🌾 – Hadasei-3 (Tatcha’s proprietary complex of Rice, Green Tea and Algae : Amino Acids and AHA’s (lactin acid) from double fermentation.

This formula has fifteen ingredients in total, it’s nice to note its simplicity. 5 OZ | 150 ML $48 USD | $62 CAD.

Have never used Tatcha before. In dept store brands, I see so many water-based, foaming cleansers. They do Not remove MU. Water cuts water, not oil. Oil cuts oil on the face, and I found Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil on their website.

Just received my order a few days ago. The Camellia Cleansing Oil is delicate (not thick and stiff like baby oil from the drugstore), smooths easily, has a lovely fragrance (I dislike fragrance free products), and actually cuts through dirt, oil, cream fdtn, etc.

I then use the Rice Polish Gentle. It is lovely for dry, dehydrated, mature skin. There is no irritation during and after using these two products. My skin is clean, soft, and has even coloring, and the pores seem minimized.

I Iike that the Polish has enzymes (enzymes dissolve the glue which holds dead skin cells on the skin). Wish the Polish had some lovely fragrance too, but there is none. I used the little, sample packet of the Dewey Skin Creme.

It is soft, easily applies, has a soft fragrance, and a little goes a long way. I have now had this creme on for over 30 min, and there is a bit of tack when I touch my face to see how my skin feels.

Just finished my nighttime skincare and shall see if the tackiness goes away overnight – I hope so as I do not like that tacky, sticky feeling on my skin. If this creme does stay tacky, I shall try the other moisturizer, Ageless Enriching Renewal Creme.

If that creme also remains sticky on my skin, I shall just keep using my moisturizer from another brand which is not tacky/sticky. As for the skin freshener, I do not justify a price tag of $105. !!! Shall stick with the skin freshener I now have from another brand.

I DO say that after using the Oil and Rice Polish Gentle, my skin is soft all day and does not dissipate nor leave my skin dry.

I bought this product a couple years ago and I used up a full bottle and enjoyed it. Now fast forward to today. I bought another bottle to try out years later. It did not give me that clean feeling. It was very oily on my skin and I emulsified it with water into a milk wash and then I took a face cloth to wash off all my make up.

I had to do that twice, to get all my makeup off and then do a second cleanse with something else. For the price, it’s too expensive to have to use another face wash on top of this for a double cleanse.

After my face was washed with this, I felt a filmy residue left behind and my face did not completely feel clean. I also experienced a few breakouts, so sadly after a few days of using, I returned. I found this much more oily then I remembered it years ago.

For me, it just felt like I was putting cooking oil on my face to remove my make up and to me, that’s not a nice feeling, so I returned it. Packaging was beautiful, but I cannot justify spending so much on a product that gave me minimal results and breakouts.

I have combination oily skin with dry patches and this did not hydrate my skin at all. I really wanted to love this, but it did not work out for me.

It cleans very well my skin and it helps with black spots. Its oily and it takes even waterproof makeup off. You just have to put one pump in to your hand, and massage for about 5 minutes and you will feel the black spots coming out in your hand.

After that, you just rinse it with water.

Who would think of olive oil as a skin cleanser?! As a 58-year-old woman, I try my best to take good care of my skin by washing my face each morning and night. This lovely botanical balm has provided me with a much deeper clean.

I LOVE how it melts away all my makeup and any other impurities (especially from wearing a mask so many hours of the day). I also LOVE how my skin feels afterwards, so perfectly prepped for my moisturizers.

It feels so soothing going onto my skin and I like the way a few drops of water help it to ********* through the layers of built up dirt, makeup, (and lately, smoke from local fires), etc. The product comes with a little anti-bacterial cloth to remove it, but I generally just use warm water.

I am in my mid-50’s and the moisture in my skin has dramatically diminished. This cleansing balm provides long lasting moisture relief while cleaning off make-up. If I’m feeling particularly dry, I use the accompanying bamboo cloth to wipe away.

Otherwise I rinse lightly with cool water splashes. I am a repeat purchaser of this product.

This cleanser is so easy to use with the included wash cloth! It feels amazing every night when I clean my face. Following up with the Intensive Balm Moisturizer completes the amazing facial treatment.

I can’t live without this product and gift it to all of my friends.

I bought this today because frankly I was getting tired of using make up removing wipes. Because with the make up I have on I end up using at least three make up wipes after a while your face gets a little raw.

There are days where I will wear make up two -three- even four days in a row and when it requires 9 to 12 make up wipes and that time. Your face starts to hurt especially the under eye area yes I do have a make up remover for my eyes but I still have to use a cotton pad and can still target times.

I bought this with high hopes and I was not disappointed. It definitely melts the make up away it feels like an oil in your hands I was a little skeptical about putting oil on my face. But when I washed my hands it came off right away I was in shock! I may have just found my holy Grail for make up removal definitely will be mine again and again as long as I can find it.

This has been my FAVORITE cleansing oil for YEARS!!! I’ve mentioned this in several of my YT videos &now I can say Ulta has it! I was so sad that I couldn’t find this after moving to the US (I’m originally from Japan).

I’m so thrilled that Ulta now carries this because it’s THE BEST makeup remover ever!! It’s NOT a jelly, it’s an oily liquid so that’s a little misleading. The package says ‘Moisturizing Cleansing Liquid’ in Japanese.

Be sure to double cleanse (use a foaming cleanser) if you’re using this or follow up with a toner. The liquid breakups the makeup, but you need a cleanser to wash away the remnants. THANK YOU ULTA for carrying my favorite skincare product!!.

Part of my evening skincare routine has always been to double wash, starting with an oil based cleanser to remove my makeup. Having oily skin, you can see how that was a problem. I happened to stumble across this jelly randomly at Ulta and thought why not, decent price and seems pretty unique.

I am SO glad that I did! This removes my makeup better than any other cleanser I have used before, while not making my skin oily or drying my skin out. It smells great and leaves my face clean, smooth, and with the PERFECT amount of moisture.

Officially a skincare holy grail for me.

During the first application, I had pretty persistent makeup, the shadows were applied to the base, persistent gel eyeliner and plain black mascara. , Tonal and lip gloss. Removed such makeup with water Caudalie just shocked me.

I began my make-up removal with my eyes, applied a generous amount of micellar water Caudalie to the cotton pad, applied it to the eyelid for 30 seconds and with a slight movement / as usual I began to remove makeup, but the makeup remained completely on the meta, only the mascara was slightly smeared.

After that, I took another disc, poured even more Caudalie micellar water and continued to remove makeup, but it was not removed, it was only smeared a little. I even began to rub my eye skin with a cotton pad with water, but apart from the black circles of the panda, nothing happened.

I decided to read the information from the bottle again, and it is clearly written there, Caudalie micellar water removes makeup, but why then do I also try my third attempt could not delete? I received a deluxe sample of this cleansing water and was very excited to use it after my Dermatologist appointment. I wear no makeup to my Derm appts. Caudalie’s Premier Cru Elixir Oil only. After my facial injections, I like to apply some foundation on my face before I leave the Dr office.

As soon as I got home, I used Sephora’s cotton pads and Caudalie Makeup Remover Cleansing Water to gently remove my foundation. No tugging or moving my facial skin around. This is perfect in that regard.

I soaked the cotton pad and held in place for a couple of seconds before moving to another section of my face. After patting the cleanser over my entire face, I went back and gently wiped the remaining cleansing water across my face.

The cleansing water definitely took off a lot of the Hourglass Fluid Veil foundation. I thought I would use a second cotton pad soaked with cleansing water as a final check to ensure all of my foundation had been removed.

The second time with a brand new soaked cotton pad, I got quite a bit more foundation off of my face. I ended up using a 3rd soaked cotton pad and was still finding traces of foundation on the pad. PROs: This is a super gentle way to cleanse the face.

It is not sticky and it doesn’t dry out my (already dry skin) face. My face felt soft afterward, and it doesn’t leave oily residue. CONs: It took 3 soaked Sephora cotton pads – the circular ones to removed the foundation from my face.

I had no face primer under my foundation or finishing powder on top, blush or any of that. Just my Hourglass Fluid Veil foundation. While I really like Caudalie Premier Cru Elixir as well as the Premier Cru cream, I do not feel that this product works well unless I plan to then use another cleanser afterward to wash my face.

I have a very simple skin routine and this is the main part of it. It removes makeup and impurities really well without leaving your skin super dry and flaky. Its beautiful. Wish it came in a larger size because I do go through a couple of pumps everytime I wear makeup, but otherwise the best cleanser I have tried.

For reference, I have combination skin that tends to get dehydrated in the winter months. Also prone to breakouts and now recently mascne but this product is a lifesaver!.

I really love using cleansing balm on my skin to remove my makeup. I have trialled a few other brands, wanting as a first priority something natural. Don’t want any nasties on my skin. Thought I wouldn’t like this oil because of the oily feel, but it is great.

Easy to apply, just melts all traces of makeup. I also use a warmed up wet washer to absolutely remove all traces of makeup, which I think works best, better than washing off with water. You know you have taken off all residue from your skin and my skin feels amazingly clean afterwards.

This is by far the best cleanser I have ever used. Like it’s name, the cleanser melts and vanishes all traces of make up just by washing off. I even bought the mini size for when travelling. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

Love this cleanser for cleaning makeup off at the end of the day – beautifully smooth and comforting – up to my third bottle – splashes off with water and turns to a light milky consistency. I wash it off with a face washer.

I might not have used this on my younger breakout prone skill but at 59 I love it. I use it on my eye make up as well.

I’m using this creamy makeup remover balm and it is fabulous. It is very creamy and glides on your skin. When you add a little water it turns white. It rinses off quickly and easily. My makeup is completely removed and my skin feels soft, hydrated and not greasy.

Has a very light pleasant scent.

This is probably one of the best makeup removers. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the application process. I think including a mini spatula might help somewhat because I don’t care for using my fingers to apply makeup remove.

I use this product when I’m prepping clients for their lash appointments. It gets the lashes squeaky clean without stripping them, removes ALLLL the makeup and is great for retail. It’s not irritating on the eyes either.

It pairs best with the “clean swoop” brush ;).

So good I even retail it to people who don’t wear lash extensions! This remover takes off EVERYTHING! When I dont have extensions on I use it to take off waterproof mascara and stubborn makeup and it comes right off.

I have long eyelashes, and those lashes love mascara. This is the only makeup remover that I have ever used that actually gets the mascara off, and doesn’t leave an oily residue behind! I absolutely love it, and would never recommend another makeup remover.

It’s a must have! It leaves my skin so incredibly soft, and I don’t have breakouts on my skin after I use it. A must have for sure.
