20 Best Oil For Noisy Lifters (2022 Updated)

I’m not one to write reviews, by for this product I have to!! Delivery was within the time frame and was very happy. My freelander has had loud hydrology tappets for a few months I tried the wynns hydraulic tappets but that was a load of crap! Didn’t work and was a waste of money.

I put this stuff in my land rover about a week-2 weeks ago. it had to take a few days to circle around with the oil which I gave benefit of the doubt. It has worked magic my car is now purring no more ticking no more crap.

Amazing I’m so happy with this. thank you so much for being better than that wynns crap! I recommend this product 100000% it may take a few days to circuit the vehicle but it works. And it’s cheaper!!.

This product gives my oil that extra viscosity needed for high mileage engines! Been using this for about 2 years now. Engine runs smooth and hasn’t had any problems. Highly recommend! 2003 Ford F-150, 5.

I have Hyper Lube in all of my vehicles. I have been using it for years. My truck has 365,000 miles and still running well. My car has 300,000 and my wife’s car has 100,000. All running good

I have used this product in my ‘Diesel’ (non two stroke) since its second oil change and at 66K and 11 seasons, I would say it’s doing its job. This is a semi synthetic oil, which my owners manual says is suitable for my engine, but do check your manual before you start using the full synthetic.

In a conversation with the Motul people at Laguna a few years back, I asked the oil life expectancy of this product. They recommended around 5200-5500 K is the max a consumer should go, so that works out to a season for most of us.

Was running 10W40 during the winter and 20W50 during the summer while pulling a 16′ vintage trailer. Oil temp stayed low so tried 10w40 year round 10W40. Missed an oil change, yet not problems. This is a 500+ hp 383 10.

5 comp AFR heads, 256 degree Howards solid flat tappet cam, Edelbrock tunnel ram and twin 450 Holleys. Shift it at 6500 rpm pretty regular, yet the rockers rarely need adjustment. Oil must be doing it’s job.

Great combination. The Best! Just placed second order for combination RP-2867 filter and 5W-20 HPS oil. Couldn’t ask for better in my medium modified 2007 Acura TL-S. I just exceeded 200k miles, which I bought new.

Runs much better than new as modified with zero oil usage between change intervals.

HPS is one of the few oils containing zinc. Zinc is an important lubricant required in older engines as zinc was removed from all oils a while ago. You will only find zinc in some diesel oils which some use in autos.

Plus Royal Purple has their proprietary synthetic addictive where all the other oils use the same synthetic addictive in various amounts. I’m using HPS in my newer vehicles too for added zinc protection as well as my classic muscle car.

Best oil you can buy imho. Great price delivered too. Can’t buy this stuff in any store.

I find it interesting to see how others review products. A 1 star?? With this particular product, what exactly is that based on??? Concentrated marketing scheme?? Have you looked at ANYTHING lately? Everything is “concentrated”.

Anyway, if you have an older flat tappet cam you really need to be using a zinc supplement with today’s oils. Low lift stock cams that are well broken in can usually get away without it for a while but if you swap in a new cam make sure to add a bottle at every oil change.

ZDDP destroys catalytic converters? It’s over hyped nonsense. If your engine is letting enough oil burn past the rings to make it to the cat and destroy it, you’ve got much bigger issues. Get a bottle.

Add it at oil change and prolong the life of your cam and engine. Or don’t and be doing it all over again very soon.

Absolutely necessary in flat tappet camshafts on older cars. Type SL oil no. longer available as zinc destroys catalytic converters. ZDDP contains the needed zinc and phosphorus to properly lubricate and cool classic cars.

Use this additive at every oil change. Works perfectly. Worn camshafts show up quickly, probably about 1000 miles or so. My nephew 1997 jeep 4. 0L now has a flattened camshaft after 2-1/2 months driving to work daily and restaurant once a week or so.

Don’t let this happen to your vehicle, use ZDDP additive!.

If you were like me in school, we spent my time dreaming of girls and fast cars. The periodic table was not at the forefront of my thoughts. That is until you wiped out the cam in your newly built small block Chevy and some old timer asked if you used a zinc additive.

I’ve built a lot of engines. This Comp Cams additive is a must for breaking in a flat tappet cam. Had no problems with the cam break-in. I mixed it with Valvoline VR-1 high zinc content oil in a pan first so it was ready to go and primed the oil pump.

Za Profezzer sez, “You muz Think Zinc!!” If you’ve got a flat tappet cam and no catalytic converter, you really should consider making this a regular part of every oil change. Comp break-in additive is an excellent protector of your valve train that’s otherwise starved of essential elements we used to take for granted, but which are no longer a part of most motor oils today.

I highly recommend this product. I don’t mind buying another cam because I want to upgrade, but I don’t want to have to buy another cam and lifters because they failed prematurely.

Decided to do a cam swap in the parking lot of my apartment complex during the ‘Rona quarantine. I swapped the cam on day one and poured in the additive only to have it pour rain on me for the next four days.

I was worried the cam would go flat with it sitting but to my surprise this oil was so thick it had stayed on the topside keeping the cam and lifters nice and lubed! FOR THREE DAYS! I will definitely use this again.

I got this in the hopes of silencing the ticking that my lifters were making in my 2006 Tahoe. I put it in and didn’t notice a dramatic change right away, but a few hundred miles further it seems to have done the trick.

Before putting it in, I would get the lifters to start ticking whenever I’d idle for more than about a minute. Last night, we sat in line for gas at Costco for a million years and I didn’t hear the lifters at all.

Seems to have really helped.

Bought this to reduce Tappet noise. Tried it but it didnt work. Sound still remains. It could be physical issue with engine so cannot comment completely on the capability of this product. Unfortunately I had to import this from US to Malaysia which cost a lot.

Hoped to save money without a rebuild but looks like a rebuild is needed.

I”ve used Rislone for several years now. Just turned 250,000 miles on my everyday work vehicle. Wouldn’t hesitate to jump in it tomorrow and head to California. Didn’t discover this product until that vehicle had a little over 100,000 miles.

Eliminated all knocks and pings immediately. Almost entirely eliminated oil consumption. Highly recommend this product. I add it to all my vehicles after every oil change now.

I run the 10w40 Z-Rod oil in my John Deere Z960m commercial mower it does great, no issues whatsoever. I chose this oil over others due to the added protection for flat tappet cams and anti-corrosion properties.

Great oil for old cars. Drained oil for oil change and oil looked great probably could have continued using it for a few thousand more miles. But I’m old school and still like to change my oil every 3000 miles or once a year depending on what comes first for my classic cars.

So far I love it, I run it in my cammed 2015 Camaro and it runs like a dream. Definitely worth it especially with the ams oil membership. You will not be disappointed!

Not only do I use this as a break in additive after you’ve installed a new cam/lifters. I also use this every other oil change to ensure the zinc content remains high in my application. Zinc is a crucial component to ANY flat tappet application and the of the shelf motor oils simply do not have enough in it anymore to protect your mating surfaces as newer vehicles dont require it.

Protect your investment with a cheap bottle of zinc additive your mating surfaces will thank you.

I replaced the cam and lifters in my 66 BB Chevelle. The product was used during the initial break in period, approximately 45 minutes running when cam installation was complete. I then changed the oil and added a bottle of “zinc” which I will continue to use for the next couple of oil changes.

i use this product with every oil change and it is great. I have a couple of high mileage engines that have some lifter rattle and common noises from a high mileage engine with out this in the new oil the engine is still noise and when I add the comp break in lube additive the engine is quite gust like when it was new and low miles for Shure a five star ratting from me and will continue to use it thanks speedway for your service.

I bought this last year about this time to change oil for winter storage. I decided to go ahead and run it in the bike for the season this year since I knew I would not be riding a lot of miles and no aggressive riding compared to usual years.

I have been using 300v over the past few years so I will compare to that. After about 1500 kms of just commuting to my shop and a few evening rides for enjoyment this oil started isbehaving. It got very dirty looking for some reason.

What bothered me about it is that shifting did not feel good at all. We know the difference of feel between crappy oil and nice oil when shifting. This felt on the crappy end of the spectrum. I have not had the oil tested nor do I ever intend to.

I also know that the 300v is not usually a correct choice but I was doing some pretty hard riding in some hot conditions for long days at a time. I am going to move to 7100 and give that a try. I will likely never come back to this oil.

I’ve been using Motul 7100 full synthetic oil on my bikes up to now so thought I would give this semisynthetic 5100 a try. I like the full synthetic because of the red colour so my only gripe is this oil is not coloured, making it harder to see oil levels through site window.

Not that big a deal but it would be nice.

Easy to pour in with synthetic or conventional engine oil, works great for breaking in rebuilt engines with flat tappet cam shafts. I use it every oil change because oil does not have the zinc additive for these older engines anymore and protection for cam and lifter seating and performance has gone down without it.

Do not use on vehicles with Catalytic converters unless just breaking in the engine.

It’s supposed to be good stuff. Ran it about 500 miles with non-detergent oil. Too bad Autozone doesn’t have break in oil. Or non-detergent. So I had to make several stops. But it seems to work. Motor runs good.

I’m on regular oil now.

I bought this to supplement my engine oil for my flat-tappet cam install. I’ve bought this stuff three times since. My cam is still living. Appears to be doing what it supposed to.

Product is worse thing ever installed in vehicle. Followed instructions accordingly, Bought because one 02 sensor reading. My catalytic converters after using product broke to pieces causing extreme back pressure to motor.

Removed internal combs in cats that were designated. Started vehicle could hear engine was ticking. Drove vehicle too see if would clear, end up blowing a piston rod, mind anyone my vehicle was properly maintained prior drove fine no problems besides sensor.

Rislone blew my motor do not use this product.

You know you have a very loud problem with engine noise when people turn their heads and stare at your suv as you drive by. That’s how loud my tapping/knocking noise was! I have been the sole owner of a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport with 91,000 miles, I’ve taken great care of it, and the tapping and ticking that started one day out of the blue was a bit of a surprise.

As I mentioned the tapping/knocking sound was extremely loud. Both the tapping and ticking noises happened when the engine was cold and both noises continued during the entire time of driving. After searching the internet I decided to go ahead and give this product a try.

To be honest I only used half of the bottle of Rislone. I drove around for about 15 miles and I could no longer hear the tapping sound. After driving another 10 miles or so I still have the ticking noise, but it is less loud than it was before.

I’m hoping with with more driving time the ticking sound will continue to improve. I’m glad I used this product and will continue to use it in the future. Highly recommend.

My car has a few issues and u til I can afford to pay for the mechanics I try little treatments here and there. I recently got an oil change 2 weeks ago so it was perfect timing. I added this to my Jeep Grand Cherokee which has 144K miles.

I must admit, there wasn’t much noise coming from it but it made it even quieter. I was sitting at a red light and almost thought my car was off! Tip: it’s best to use any treatment after a flush and filter change in general.

After about 4/5 days of driving I’m noticing a big difference.

The products are maintenance items that keep the instrument functional. They work , that is the only criterion. I like the product. Thanks

This lubricant is super slick, a drop goes a long way. Not gummy or runny, just the right consistency to be useful. Does not have a strong smell. Lasts a long time

Problem I have is while most of it seems to stay put, anything more than a thin coat drips down. I have a short block with cam installed sitting for a few months while waiting on heads. When I got the heads and pulled the block out (covered and on a dolly) I inspected everything for being clean, bug/spider free, and noticed the cam looked dry.

I removed the front of the motor again to remove cam and it was pretty dry. Things have changed a lot over the years and I generally don’t use to many flat tappets anymore, but I remember the older lude was a lot thicker and definitely stayed put.

Like many I think I will just use normal assembly lube from now on.

Used this as part of my recent cam swap from flat tappet to roller…it’s sticky, and seems to work just fine for my application.

Lubes like it should. Nice and greasy, sticks to everything, even my teeth.

I’ve been using 5. 3 ounces of this with a 5w30 SN rated oil for a 7 quart oil change for a few years now. Keeps my flat tappet cam alive. I changed to aluminum cylinder heads and was able to pull a couple lifters when I was doing that and they looked perfect using this combination.

Good value for what it does! by using 5. 3 ounces I am able to get a 700-800 PPM zinc and phosphorous content up to the 1300-1400 PPM range, and I get 3 oil changes per bottle out of it.

Ecellent product would recommend to anyone breaking in a flat tapping cam shaft. Will definitely buy again. Buy with confidence.

I always use a break in additive when starting a new engine or one that has sat for along time. I have had cams fail when not using it. Much cheaper than a new cam.

This oil is terrific! I have long thick hair that is prone to dryness and tangling. I must use detangling sprays, leave in conditioners as well as oils and serums just to get the brush through it daily (even then it’s an all-day battle).

Of course, some oils on the market are thick or even tacky and leave behind too much build up which actually ends up contributing to the tangling problems. Not the case with this oil at all! As the name suggests, it really vanishes! The consistency is super thin and absorbs quickly.

I don’t have to worry about using too much either because it doesn’t leave my hair greasy at all. It leave my hair and skin feeling like silk and I couldn’t be more satisfied. I’m happy with the product size as well – it’s really a good value! since a single application is just a few drops, a bottle will last a really long time.

I love this oil so much. Works very well for my very long hair, hair feels soft and airy after blow drying unlike the Moroccan silicon based hair oil which I’ve been using for months. The silicon based one weighs down the hair and caused a lot of build up.

This is so different, this does not contain silicon and it does not weigh down my hair, truly anti frizz and hair stays soft until the next wash. I wash my hair daily and I’m not sure what’s in the formula, noticed that this oil also reduces blow drying time too, how great! Really love it and just purchased another bottle today.

The only cons about this is the scent, the scent smells cheap and I don’t like it, thank god the scent does not linger after application. Highly recommend this product!.

This vanishing oil by Living proof was sent to me complimentary in exchange for my honest review. It is a weightless and hydrating finishing oil. I like the dropper because it allows me to just use a little bit at a time in each hair section or a whole lot if I want.

It absorbs fast and is easy to apply. Doesn’t feel sticky or create a lot of build-up. I like that it can be used on dry or wet hair. I do wish it was also heat protectant but it does work well post heat styling to smooth what needs to be smoothed.

Like most Living Proof products, it is heavily scented and the smell lingers a long time, which is good or bad depending on scent preferences. It does smell nice though but a little too scented for my sensitive nose.
