20 Best Oil For Stovetop Popcorn (2022 Updated)

We love the taste of this popcor n oil. We store it in the bottom cabinet of our kitchen. It’s about half gone now and when I went to refill our little bottle, the buttery oil was SEPARATED. It has clump in it.

I’m not sure how, if possible, to fix it. I called the 800 #, but they were at a loss too. Any help out there?.

Unfortunately, in my quest to find an actual butter-tasting popcorn topping, I’ll have to keep looking. I was hoping this would fit the bill, but instead, it’s only another very mild, oily-tasting topping.

To my palate at least, it tastes like straight canola oil with a slight butter aroma, and a hint of fishy taste. And now I have a gallon jug of the stuff to sit next to the gallon jug of Super-Kist II.

Yay. For now, I’ll go back to Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn topping until I can find a new candidate in my popcorn topping quest.

WTF? WTF? WTF? I bought this under the assumption that it was good, by it’s reviews. It is only butter flavored oil, for cooking. This taste nothing like the buttery topping you’d use in the theatres.

I’m thoroughly disappointed that I purchased a gallon of this oil. It’s a total waste of my money.

First time buying popcorn oil, and it’s okay. I find that because it’s a solid, it’s sorta hard to measure out for the popcorn maker. Also, the taste is alright, but does seem a little fake but it works well, doesn’t burn, and when used with flavacol, it tastes like movie theatre popcorn.

It’s not bad, but I do think, that next time I need popcorn oil, I’d get one that’s a liquid so it’s easier to use.

Taste great. The coconut oil burns better than the regular oils. Makes the popcorn look and taste like real movie theatre popcorn. Popcorn is a good snack for diabetic.

I use this oil when I make popcorn in my Whirlypop, it works great and has a good flavor. The only downfall of ordering this is that it melted when it shipped (because coconut oil melts when it heats up) and got all over the shipping box so it was big mess.

Who knew that liquid gold could taste this good?! If I’m being honest, it took us a while to decide on which Butter Flavored Topping we should use for our companies’ products. After experimenting with different butters and oils on said products we decided to go with good old Louana Butter Flavored Topping.

We are constantly getting compliments when serving our popcorn with this topping, such a great product!.

LouAna 1 Gallon Butter Flavored Topping tastes great. It actually tastes like butter and is not overwhelming in terms of saltiness like the popcorn topping you get at the movies. Also, it’s thicker than many of its competitors, which makes its longevity a bit greater, due to the flavor / coverage ratio.

Mmmmm! So Buttery! I love popcorn and when you love popcorn as much as me you have to have a great flavored butter. This stuff does it for me! So good!

This is the BEST for making popcorn in my popper AND in the microwave. It gives the popcorn that yummy movie theatre butter-liciousness! It has a wonderful flavor and while making the popcorn taste better, doesn’t make it all greasy and gross like that nasty fake oil liquid stuff.

And this size of jar is bound to last for quite some time, even for someone like me who makes popcorn frequently.

Okay, so I worked this tasteless grease into at least fake butter. Where do I begin, while after being bombed by kernels from the new popcorn maker, I thought joy was on the way. WRONG! To the makers of this, stop it.

Work on it! I did! I got a formula that works and I am happy now with numerous personal touches from my gourmet arsenal. But my goodness, where is the goodness, MAN! You should be ashamed of yourself for this butterless oil.

However, I know you are not. In any case, I wish my review could be butter(error on purpose). To buyers, if you just want to do as they have done, use oil and color it. That is easier if you are trying to tell yourself a lie about it because of the name.

I love popcorn and I always found this brand of popcorn was quality! Tonight I popped microwave popcorn and I emptied the bag and it was more kernals than popped corn. So I tried another bag and got the same thing.

There was not enough popcorn to share or even fill a bowl and it was almost 75% kernals. This is not ok! Please fix this.

My husband thought I messed up by not purchasing coconut oil for the popcorn. He was wrong. Again, it was because I checked the reviews. O. R. Popping Buttery Oil was quite 5asty in our new popcorn maker.

All kernels popped perfectly. So I guess hubs was wrong this time. LOL! Trust the reviews here. The OR Oil arrived on time, and in perfect condition. I failed to look at the price for two bottles. What is with the pricing? Almost $10 more for a second bottle? Something is amiss here.

I could tell by looking at this oil and comparing by that alone to others I’ve tried that this was either going to be a big flop for a pop or a popping success. This oil is definitely thicker. Other oils are clearly see through and lack the flavor condensed into this jug.

After popping and then tasting the first run using this oil I was overwhelmed by the buttery flavor that that was visible by the coloration left on these kernels. It is definitely the best I have tasted in quite awhile.

My advice is that if you have a business it would definitely behoove you to switch to this oil. Not only for the flavor packed in every mouthful but as you can tell by it’s name its Canola Oil which means it is the healthiest oil you can consume.

This isn’t a heart attack in a bag like it would be if you used other oils such as Peanut Oil. It’s heart healthy and extremely flavorful. I can not emphasize that enough. Fla-Vor-Ful. You will not regret trying this oil for yourself.

You WILL BE glad you did.

We bought this for the machine at the church. Did everything we hoped it would. Great quality for the price!

This is the perfect amount if you make popcorn a couple of times a week. You don’t need to buy the big 5 gallon containers or use the store “imitation” popcorn oil. Popcorn looks great with that movie theater taste to it.

I usually portion and freeze it in ice cube trays, it makes it easier when making popcorn, you just drop in a few oil cubes into the kettle, less messy.

This oil is a little pricier than other oils I’ve used in the past, but it is worth the money. The flavor it provides is delicious and very similar to that you’d find in a movie theater (without that artificial taste to it).

It also gives your popcorn a nice yellow tint that people are used to. The oil itself is solid at room temperature and is very difficult to scoop out with the plastic scoop that was provided with my 8oz popper.

However, I found that using a thumb press food disher (ice-cream scoop) worked well. The metal easily digs into the oil while the push button deposits it easily into your popper. This site carries many different size scoops for extremely cheap.

Do yourself a favor and add one to your cart when you purchase this oil.

This is the oil you need for that actual movie theater taste youve been craving. Product is in a solid form which creates a bit more of a mess with prep but the end result is worth the extra hassle.

The Coconut oil is solid and needs to be scooped. I have a table top kettle popcorn popper and have tried other oil, but this makes popcorn taste like movie popcorn without the butter. I love the taste! It just needs a little popcorn salt and It is delicious! I think the oil will last a while , but when it runs out I will buy some more!.

Oily but kids said it did not have much flavor. They like the movie theater kit better.

Pop’s corn up nice with hardly any unpopped kernel’s. Very nice buttery flavor to corn without adding extra butter. Great product and would purchase again, thank you.

About this butter thinking I will be watching movies at home would great tasting popcorn just like in the movies. This butter taste nothing like movie theater butter. I won’t be recommending this to my family all friends.

Maybe there is another type that taste like movie theater butter but this one is not.

I bought this product on-line because my local club has been out of popping oil for the last 6 months (poorly run). This is a new oil that I had not tried previously. I would have liked to try one gallon before buying four but now that we have it, it has done an excellent job of popping and has a good flavor.

I would highly recommend it.

This costs a bit more than other popping oils, but the quality comes through in the very tasty popcorn. It actually contains coconut oil in its ingredients, and that makes a taste difference.

I used this in my deep fryer. It makes really crispy food. Has a ridiculously high smoke point. So high that I cant get it to smoke in my deep fryer. Doesnt transfer any flavours to the food being fried.

Doesnt turn all brown and sludgy and its far healthier than most alternative frying oils.

This oil is kinda new to me but I’m very impressed with it. It has a high smoke point so I’m happy about that. I would recommend it to all.

I use this for cooking, frozen desserts, skin and hair care, all uses for coconut oil you can think of, and I use it because it has no smell. I can’t stand the smell of coconut in my food and this works wonderfully well.

Snappy popcorn oil gives great flavor and great color. When paired with Flavacol, popcorn looks, smells, and tastes like theater popcorn. Your mileage may vary, of course, depending on your popping method/hardware, but the oil itself works wonderfully! Best popcorn oil we’ve tried so far and way more affordable than some of the others we’ve ordered.

The popcorn made with this oil looks great, and pops well. The popcorn is absolutely tasteless, even though it has a color like theater popcorn. I was expecting a buttery flavor, like other coconut popping oils provide.

There is no flavor of any kind in this oil. Disappointing. It looks good, though.

I used this to fry my chicken and I wasnt disappointed. I dont like popcorn, I bought this to cook with and I wish I wouldve tried it a long time ago. Whatever you use it for, you shant be disappointed I love it and will ever be out of it.

The product was exactly what I ordered. I been using it for a number of years. Buying in such a large amount is very economic.

I have a Presto oil popping popcorn maker that I have fiddle faddled with since I purchased it. Nothing I did made my popcorn turn out right. After tinkering with portions and types of oils I’ve come to the conclusion that the directions that came with that popper is WRONG!!! I used coconut oil and salt for the final test and was going to give up but it turned out like I made that popcorn in a movie theater.

This one as well but with the extra added seasoning. WOW!!! Not only does this taste like movie theater popcorn that smell you get when you walk into a movie theater smells just like this!!! Here’s the even better picture: since it’s just me I can divide this popcorn.

I keep the oil solid so I can break it in half. I pour the amount of kernels I want, then I pinched the bag so the seasoning can get out and not the kernels and ‘boom’ instant hit! It was enough popcorn to satisfy me.

I would’ve even been better off if I purchased the 4oz bags. The only thing that got me irritated is that I just purchased this and the whole box has a sell date of January 2020. I’m pretty sure it’ll last longer than that.

Very happy! I was concerned I may get some near expired product. This product was fresh, with a production approximately 30 days before my order. With that said, i now have a year before the “best by” date.

All good, as it won’t last that long. As Arnie once said, “I’ll be Baaack!”.

Bought these for a PTA popcorn sale at an elementary school. The sale is run by volunteers so the pre-measured bags make it really easy. This popcorn is seriously delicious— the kids kept saying how good it was.

After I finally had some, I had to agree— Seriously delicious. My only complaint would be in the packaging. With a 6oz popper, the package is akward to get the oil in the machine 1st, so you have to cut them apart— but it’s almost impossible to do that without cutting a hole in either the popcorn or the oil– which leads to a mess.

We solved it by cutting the popcorn open and dumping into a paper cup, and then opening the oil and adding it to the machine. I wish the seam between the two sides was perforated so you could just rear them apart.

Other than that minor issue, the product itself is wonderful.
