20 Best Oils For Dry Scalp (2022 Updated)

I have fine, thin, oily hair with dry ends. I have had to completely overhaul my hair routine after realising that years and years of bleaching and extreme hair colour changes have damaged my scalp and hair.

Through this process, I’ve gone through an amazing amount of product and came to the conclusion that I’ve got to take care of my scalp like I do my face. I found that the oil-cleansing method was incredibly effective in balancing my skin so looked around for oil-based shampoo systems.

It’s harder and more confusing than you might think! They’re also expensive. I bit the bullet and decided to “invest” in this shampoo and accompanying conditioner. and couldn’t be happier! This shampoo has a wonderful scent – a bit like the baby shampoos of my childhood.

I can’t stop smelling my own hair! It leaves my hair wonderfully clean but so gently. My scalp feels clean without feeling tight, but the ends don’t feel dry. This doesn’t strip the scalp at all. I am still washing every day but can stretch it out to two nights (without using dry shampoo).

After six weeks of using it I also feel that it’s left my hair glossier, softer and much smoother and less tangled. The only down side is that I live in a hard water area and I need two pumps of the bottle to get an effective lather.

This makes it super-expensive but I think I’d repurchase.

I’m a new mom and I was needing a bit of pampering. The scent of this shampoo is so luxurious I feel like I’m in a five star hotel every time I use it. My hair feels so soft, clean and looks nice and shiny when I use it.

I also felt like my hair looked less dull when I styled it after washing it with this shampoo. It’s not one of those super sudsy soaps but that’s to be expected because of it’s oil base – and suds do not indicate a good shampoo! You don’t need suds to know the shampoo is working! I feels light and not super synthetic and heavy.

Leaves hair greasy and dry feeling m. Made my hair issues a lot worse! I’ll stick to regular Tea tree oil! Also the review for the leave in and shampoo. I was so hopeful that this would help combat the Candida overgrowth on my scalp and neck, sadly it did not.

It smells horrid (I’ll never understand why they don’t reduce the terrible medication smell), it leave your hair feeling like it has not been rinsed completely even after taking over 10 mins to rinse (my hair is very thin and brittle due to chemo), over all it did nothing more than add to my issues.

This does not leave the hair soft or com able but more dry and brittle. Even with the leave in conditioner in the same brand! Waste of money!! Thank goodness Sally’s has a 90 return, bc I will be returning it !.

My dermatologist prescribed oil which has salicylic acid (key ingredient for keeping psoriasis at bay for most people ) and it worked but it was just to expensive. 35 dollars each month. So I was looking all over for an alternative and finally found this was similar with other great oils that help keep the scalp healthy.

My psoriasis just kept coming back no matter what I did , but with one use , my psoriasis has not come back like it usually does with other products ! I’m now on day 3 without psoriasis after first use , this stuff is amazzzzingggggg.

I also been exercising while I have been using this. and for psoriasis sufferers, exercising is also a key to keeping psoriasis at bay, as it helps to decrease inflammation.

The product does exactly what it is meant to do, It helps flaking and itching scalp. I’m on my second bottle, nothing else as made the difference this has. I haven’t had to deal with painful scalp due to psoriasis since using this.

Also,this is not for all hair types. It even says that on the bottle. If you have finer hair, it will make it appear and feel oily, IT IS OIL, that is what it does. I don’t get why people are leaving negative reviews because their surprised the oil left their hair oily?.

This product plus the co-wash and conditioner have CURED my dandruff. I have had dandruff since i was a teen! My scalp constantly itched it was maddening. I used this as like a spot treatment on any itch i had on my head and let it sit until the cooling sensation was gone and reapply if it itched again.

i eventually had my whole scalp covered and cooled. washed my hair with the cowash and conditioner once a week and i haven’t had to use this product since. just use the cowash and conditioner once a week and my hair is nice and making its own oils! i used to have to buy oil products so my hair wouldn’t be dry.

Not anymore! if i could shout how good this stuff is from the heavens i would. i would keep this product in production single handedly if i could. Its worth a try. my curly hair appreciates it. hopefully you will too.

I am extremely sad to share that this made me have an allergic reaction. I never have reactions with hair products. I didn’t realize it until I finished the product that I was allergic. Somehow it managed to cause me to itch all over.

I ended up with hive like scratch marks. It wasn’t until I was doing my hair one day and I noticed that this product was the only product that made my hands burn. I did notice that my roots felt softer and it kept my hair hydrated and stopped it from drying out.

I do plan to give it another try in the future. I gave 4 stars because the allergic reaction is not on the part of the company. It’s just something I found that irritated my skin. The product itself works fine.

I’ve been putting this in my daughters hair, she has dry scalp and extremely curly/frizzy hair for like four years. First off- Tea Tree Oil (coming from someone who attended cosmetology school), is a lice prevention, so I believe that it prevented her from getting it when lice went around her classrooms in Kindergarten and Pre-K.

Second- Her hair grows at an ALARMING rate, and this stuff makes her curls and frizz tame and look beautiful obviously helps with the dry scalp issue. It also says you can use it for help with Nail Treatment.

It’s a fungus fighter. But I have not tried that. This is SO cheap and is in the ethnic hair sections at the stores. We do not have ethnic hair but her texture is difficult to work with so we use it.

I have a super dry scalp and 4C hair. My scalp always flakes but I woke up one day and it was really bad. I bought this out of desperation and I cannot believe how effective it is. I’m not patting my wig 24/7 anymore trying to itch my scalp and I don’t get daily flaking.

I purchased this from a beauty supply store a week ago, and i like it. The smell is not too strong and not my favorite smell. So far, my hair seems softer with it. I prefer this over the other pine tar grease I was using.

Old school beats new school products. I’ve been using DAX Kocatah with M. T. G and my hair drastically improved. m. I. G promotes hair growth along with DAX. My hair has moisture without the weigh down feeling.

The only downside of this product is the strong smell and color, but it really works!.

I tried this product on a whim because I was looking for a product that would moisturize my scalp so that I didn’t get an itchy scalp, especially after a shower. This was reasonably priced and available at my local Target, and I was NOT disappointed! It worked great, moisturizes my scalp without making it oily.

It does feel like it’s making my hair stronger and healthier, but again NOT oily! The itchiness and dry skin flaking is completely gone when I use it! It’s so simple, you just squirt a few dots on your scalp after you wash your hair, and lightly rub it in to spread it around your scalp.

I preferred to use it BEFORE my shower on hair wash days. I would evenly distribute it throughout my scalp, massage, and brush it through to my ends. Then I oil my ends, tie my hair up, and wait to wash until at least one hour passes.

So i received this from influenster, so thank you a lot! I wanted to try this for a few weeks before I reviewed this and I was pretty happy with it. So, firstly, its sulfate free so that is wonderful! I was super excited to try this as i absolutely love trying serums because they usually make myh hair feel super soft and super shiny.

I used this, and it smells great!! Im not goodd at describing scents, but to me, it smells like a man (clean man) and I really like the scent. I shower everyday and that includes washing my hair (yes, i know youre not supposed to but i cant help it.

) So I got to use this really quick. I personally used it after showering. This did not dry out my hair nor my scalp, it didnt make me feel oily either so that is great. Left no residue in my hair, nor did it make it overly shiny (where it looks greasy) it was a nice naturally helathy shine.

I loved this stuff in freshman year of high school. Full of nutritious herbal oils that made my hair shiny and healthy. I’m Caucasian and I still use this. It affordable. I bought it at Walmart. Its a luxury compared to the petroleum ones I’ve used like Africa’s best.

Makes my hair nice and shiny but for some strange reason smells like Kool-aid. Since using this product my kids have called me Koolaid queen and the 3 year old has tried to lick me on several occasions my husband knows enough not to comment other than the fact that its not any particular flavor just the general smell.
