20 Best Otc For Stuffy Nose (2022 Updated)

This is by far the most effective nasal spray I’ve found. I’ve only bought it once and now it’s no longer stocked?!? Please bring it back, it helps me clear my passageways and actually sleep at night.

🙁 The other Xylitol spray Target has isn’t nearly as good. I have year-round allergies, sinusitis, and sinus headaches. The relief this spray brings is nothing short of a miracle. I also do twice-daily sinus rinses with saline and xylitol packets.

It’s easy to overuse this spray though – once or twice a day is good, and any more gives me headaches.

Works great, but use as directed and not more than 3 days. I was using this for a week and didn’t realize it was only supposed to be for 3 days. I noticed right about the 10 hour mark my nose would get stuffy, so much so that I couldn’t breathe through my nose.

What was actually happening was that the nose spray created dependency and my congestion was actually getting worse. As soon as I would use the spray I would feel great but the cycle continued until I realized that the nose spray was causing the problem.

It really works! For allergies I prefer the non-medicated Xlear (this one you can’t use long-term but the unmedicated you can!), but for colds, nothing compares to this. I was so congested last time I had a cold, I couldn’t even sleep.

This gave me my sleep back which allowed my immune system to do its job. Highly recommend this product!.

This mediation is NOT for children!!! DO NOT GIVE, especially if your children/child have any cardiac side effects. My son (4 years old, meeting the age limit listed for 5 ml) was thrown into an SVT rhythm from this exact medicine and had to be converted back to normal rhythm! They need to take this off of the shelves and D/C any sales!!!!!!.

I just purchased this brand last week on a whim. My son developed a stuffy nose while we were out of town, and I knew I had nothing at home for him to take. We stopped at the drug store, and I spent at least 15 minutes looking over the options.

I did not want a multi-symptom product because he only had the stuffy nose. This product was the only one I saw that was JUST for nasal congestion. Although it was pricey, I bought it. I know Sudafed has been around a long time and is the brand I think of when I get nasal congestion.

The non-drowsy claim is accurate – I was able to give this to my son before school, and he did not report any tiredness.

I love the option of this being sugar free and alcohol free, considering the flavor is actually nice and my kids enjoyed it. Worked well to bring down a fever and decent price.

I have chronic sinus issues and have been to allergists and ENTs. No other meds seem to help other than Oxymetaxoline. I have tried various brands. I find the Major brand to be the most potent and FAST working, but if you put a huge blast up your nose, it will burn more than some.

The Perrigo brand is the kinder gentler approach but it int nearly as effective. Major brand Oxymetaxoline and Budesonide mix will get you through the toughest allergy season!.

You can walk into your local Walgreens and spend $12-$15 for a half oz. of name brand spray, which is still the exact same ingredient as this, or you can buy a 12 pack, double size, for the cost of two half size bottles.

Its a no brainer, this is the best deal and is effective as Ive ever used. Definitely an excellent option that anyone who uses it should take!.

This is a very effective, economical product that is mild, yet works well. I use just ONE spray in each side of my nose every night. I have not had a nose bleed. The “rebound” effect is very mild, and seems to last only a very short time.

I am so happy to have found this online. My sister has used it for years n it has gotten harder n harder to find. This is nice relief to my peace. The product came early, which I find to b norm for Walmart.

Dristan is the best nasal decongestant, hands down. No other nosespray works as fast or as effectively. I will only purchase this nasal decongestant. It can be hard to find but I’ll hunt it down.

Both the wife and myself had that nasty cold/ flu this spring, and this product really came through. I also have bad allergys in the summer and this product will come in handy. A word of caution : The label has a warning about not using if high blood pressure.

Woke up feeling meh 😑 after taking care of my little who had a cold. Sore throat, low fever, fatigue, body aches etc. I had to work today to train a new hire and important department meetings. so I really needed to not be under the weather.

I searched my medicine cabinet looking for DayQuil, Mucinex or some cold other premium cold/flu medicine. Found an old Sudafed PE from 2015 that I got a couple years ago on clearance. COLD GONE!!!! All symptoms GONE! Sudafed people!!! Sudafed is the immediate cure.

It powered me through the entire day with mental clarity, energy, no sore throat, no runny nose. Wow!! Imagine if it weren’t expired!.

I typically use a different brand. of OTC nasal decongestant, headache, throat meds. However, I stumbled across Sudafed and read reviews and I’m so glad I did. This product is amazing! Just bought 2 more boxes.

Thank goodness for this product. Some days, I wake up with a sinus headache I just can’t shake but no other symptoms. This takes the pain away within 30 minutes. So glad I have this to depend on. Wish they wouldn’t put synthetic colorings in their products, though.

This product is NOT original 4WAY nasal spray. It is packaged as 4WAY, but is in EQUATE dispenser. Equate would make the back of my nasal passage raw after use. 4WAY never did that. This product, again although packaged as 4WAY except for the dispenser which is the Equate style, makes my throat and nasal passage raw.

Just like Equate used to. Suggest trying another 3rd party provider unless you like paying $7 for Equate.

I purchase this product for my husband and keep it on hand only for emergency purposes. It was something that was recommended by his medical provider. The name brand of this over the counter medication can cost up to three times more when this product works just as well.

For the price and the money I save, I would definitely buy this product again as it does the job the doctor requested we get it for.

I have the allergies from hell. Not only can’t I breathe but I frequently get extremely painful sinus pressure in the back of my head and neck. I take 2 of these and within a half hour it all goes away.

I have not found anything that works for me as well as these do.

I have been using this for a while. I suggest giving it a try. I find it gives me relief.

For me, this works as good as the Sudafed brand product. The package was packed properly and delivered clean and intact. I will consider buying here again.

I prefer not to take a systemic (oral) decongestant unless it is absolutely necessary. I’ve used Vicks inhalers for years and they provide temporary relief. However the Benzedrex Nasal Decongestant Inhaler gives me hours of relief.

I can’t know for sure, but I believe that several times I’ve used this when I felt like I was developing a sinus infection and didn’t have to go to the doctor because it opened me up so well. The directions say not to used it for more than 3 consecutive days.

I’ve not needed it more than 2 days together. I rely on it when I’m having trouble breathing now.

I love this so much lol. Seriously it works so much. My whole family has had a cold the past 2 weeks. I would wake up and lay down, and not be able to breathe. Using this helped a whole lot. It’s not a spray, you just sniff it, so it’s not as bad as the sprays.

It is temporary but still lasts a long time. I really keep one of me all the time now.

PACKAGING The outer packaging is a tough nut to crack, and while child-safe, it’s a bit of a challenge for adults, even with scissors. The inhaler itself is made of sturdy plastic and feels well made.

SCENT/AROMA If you are accustomed to Vicks Inhalers, with their distinctive camphorous menthol and eucalyptus aroma, the Benzedrex inhaler will be a bit change for you. Lavender plays a starring role in this aromatic blend, backed with an ample dose of menthol, the overall effect is much more “aromatherapy” like, as opposed to Vicks’ cool, purely medicinal notes.

INGREDIENTS EFFICACY The active ingredient in Benzedrex is propylhexidrine, a drug related structurally to amphetamine (related does not mean ‘same as’). When inhaled, it opens up the nasal passages and sinuses, relieving pressure and congestion.

Vicks inhalers active ingredient is levmetamfetamine, also an amphetamine derivative that works in much the same way. In my experience Vicks and Benzedrex are about equally effective immediately after use (slight edge to Benzedrex), but Benzedrex works much much longer — in the hours range versus minutes with Vicks, which also makes it a better value in my opinion.

I use this product and have for years. The hard-to-open top is a safety measure. If you look at tha top there are two curved arrows, 180 degrees from each other , in other words one on each side. If you have a pair of regular pliers (I have weak fingers.

)you can position them over the arrows and easily twist slightly clockwise and the top comes off. Sone people have strong enough finger pressure to press the arrows.

I have been using this product for a number of years at night to keep sinuses open while sleeping. My allergist looked at the ingredients and said it is non-habit forming. I can no longer consistently find this product locally.

My adult son also uses it, and told me he found it at Wal-Mart on line. I’ve never seen it in the Wal-Mart stores. During this pandemic, I stay out of stores as much as possible. Availability on line has been a convenient way to shop.

This is by far the best nasal decongestant you can get. This will have you breathing clear from colds and ot allergies within seconds. Definitely out does any of the other nasal decongestant meds at the store.

These tablets helped relieve my stuffy nose and congested head in about 2 days. I like that there are day and night tablets to address your congestions precisely when you need it. These are sold at a pretty good price point also – as compared to some other brands with higher prices.

You take 1 tablet every 4 hours and it does a nice job of relieving your symptoms by helping you sleep better at night for the PM tablets and not giving you that drowsy feeling for the AM tablets when you may still need to get on with your day.

I like that the pills are color coded for PM blue pills and AM red pills for easy identification. My only complaints about the product were I wish there was an even number of AM/PM tablets (the box has 12 tablets for AM and 8 tablets for PM).

Further, the pills are VERY difficult to get out of the packaging. This can be problematic for those with hand/wrist issues. No one wants to have to struggle w/ these little paper/foil packs.

I have a lot of sinus issues. These do provide some relief. My main complaint is that I have trouble sleeping because of sinus issues – when I lie down on my left side that side of my nose almost immediately stops up.

Also I have an issue with a popping sound and sensation when I inhale & exhale through my nose while lying down. So the nighttime Sudafed PE tablets in this package have helped me to get some sleep at night.

I noticed that since I have been taking them I have not woken up because of this popping sound in my nose, and my left nostril is no longer stopping up when I lie on my left side. During the day (after taking the daytime tablets) though my nose is still a bit runny.

So they do work decently well, but for me personally they are not as effective as the Sudafeds that contain pseudoephedrine.

I didn’t realize I had a sinus congestion problem until the other night when I got dizzy laying down. I had been waking in the mornings, stuffed up, congested, but thought it was from lack of air movement in the bedroom.

That night I got up and took a nighttime Sudafed and in the morning my head didn’t hurt and I had slept like a baby. During the day I took a second dose, this one a daytime formula tablet. I have not had a stuffy night since.

I am so glad to have Sudafed PE day + Night Sinus Congestion Tablets. Most medicines put me to sleep. To have both a nighttime and a daytime tablet in one package is the perfect solution. Best of all, they work.

I had a blocked nose for pretty much 10 days and there was no way of shifting it. I used one spray of this in both nostrils and within 20 minutes my nose was completely unblocked! This is AMAZING.

I was upset when asda stopped selling vicks sinex and started buying this as a replacement. I was very pleasantly surprised as it works just as well as sinex. Keeps my nose clear all night with one squirt each side and is easy to use.

More expensive as you only get 15ml instead of 20ml so I would choose sinex if asda still stocked it.

Tried loads of different things over the years but nothing works like this, couple of of squirts and the congestion is pretty much gone for hours

Have had several sinus and nasal operations over the years resulting in a permanently dry nose, this balm is soothing – not found anything else like it. Tube last ages as I only use it before going to bed at night.

Tried everywhere on the high street to purchase happinose ointment, without success. Got it on eBay, reasonably cheap! This ointment is the best I found for a sore red nose. It soothes and I think heals it quicker.

It can be placed on chest for congestion also! Would definitely highly recommend!.

Would not be without this during hay fever season. My partner suffers badly and his nose goes red raw from being wiped all day. Happiness soothes it beautifully and can sometime stop the pollen entering his nose.

I use it too when I get a cold, it has a mild menthol scent which is pleasant. Excellent for my little grandchildren too.

long story short i was having trouble breathing and had a horrible stuffed nose. my mom brough this home and boy do i tell you, it felt like i was reborn! it was awkward to uncap but after the initial spray, it is worth it.

i sprayed it in the nostrils ONCE and immediately felt like i had just been cured. i would recommend this for when you have a stuffy nose, because oh my god. i can’t stop talking about this product and what it just did for me.

(seriously i did this maybe three minuets ago. ) so yeah, i haven’t had much experience but i still would use it again from what i’ve experienced so far. i don’t know long term- as you are only supposed to use it for 10 hour increments but soooo worth the overpowering sensation!.

My sinuses are always having issues due to allergies but they were completely unmanageable when I got Covid. They were completely inflamed, dry, closed off and I suffered like that for about a week and a half before getting this Sinex.

WOW. Within 10 minutes, my sinuses were completely open, relaxed and I was able to breath through them!!! I usually am uncomfortable taking meds because some can make me really jittery but this has been a huge help! I haven’t noticed any side effects and will even use it for when my allergies are bad.

So since were in cold and allergy season, let me introduce you to my little friend. I keep these stocked in every bag, purse, and vehicle. If I am unable to breath, no matter my age— I will cry. It’s the most miserable experience next to an allergic reaction.

As with any nasal spray- this can and will dry your nasal passages if used in excess, so keeping nasal saline on hand is important to keep bleeding noses at bay. This stuff works SO incredibly well. It doesn’t drip, isn’t heavy, and does the job right away giving the relief you are so desperately searching for.

I’ll never use anything else. Highly recommend.

This product has helped me so much with my summer allergies. I can’t wait to try it in the winter as well my nasal passages get so dry. Great packaging and application. I love that you just hold down on the nozzle and it keeps putting out that fine mist as long as you hold that button down.

You don’t have to keep trying to squirt something up your nose. I take allergy medication before mowing the lawn, but still end up stuffy for about 24 hours after I’m done mowing. I used this product when I was done mowing and flushed out my nasal passages really well.

Blew my nose a few times as the instructions state, and within less than an hour my stuffy nose was gone. I also love that it is “non-habit forming” so I can use it when I need to and not have to worry about it.

I don’t like saline drops. They are too hard to use when baby already is head shy because of a sore nose. Even harder when you’ve done one side and baby is screaming from discomfort. I didn’t notice much change is congestion either.

My daughter had some issues with ear infections last year and I REFUSED to get tubes. I fought fought fought hard and this was a product the ENT recommended. Along with a nasal spray, I used this twice a day for like 3 months and her ears cleared right up.

I’m so happy with this product! I highly recommend to anyone who has an issue with ear infections — after you’ve seen a doctor and had it approved.
