Made from really excellent materials it should be a long-lasting tool, but has a few drawbacks. The pliers are not sprung, which defeats the object of rounding off and smoothing the outside edges to save your hands, as you have to scrape the outside of your fingers to keep re-opening the pliers whilst in use.

They’re quite stiff, so even after a short time of pushing them back open left the tops of my fingers sore. The demonstrated “one hand” opening is a bit of a stretch too, I can just about open the knife blade because it protrudes slightly further out than the rest.

Can’t see the point of this, they’re stiff enough to stay together anyway. As to accessing the inner tools, you can’t, you have to open all the outside tools first, which means you’re perilously close to the opened blades whilst you’re fiddling out the inner tools.

This order came with a free sharpening stone and oil pot. Kinda surprised at this too, I mean who uses oil stones these days? Used to use them a lot about 40 years ago but water stones or Diamond are far superior and the grits on the supplied stone are way too coarse to get a decent polished edge.

The “engraving” on the blade is not, strictly speaking, actually engraving, it’s laser etching. Overall. it’s okay. but I was expecting to be blown away by a famous Leatherman and quite frankly, I’m not.

and I can’t return it either because I had it engraved. I suggest you only buy one of these once you’ve handled it in person, never put your trust in a maker’s name. wooddragon45.

Picked this up at my local REI yesterday. It hasn’t been used in the “field” yet. However after a few hours of opening and closing it while watching TV, I just can’t put it down. The pocket clip is nice, makes it easy to take with me.

The pouch it comes with is cool but you have to weave it through a belt. Pocket clip is way easier. It does give you options for carry. I like the magnet feature, it stays secured while in your pocket.

I barley notice it. Classic leatherman tools that have a modern touch. Knives are razor sharp. Saw is like piranha teeth, ready to saw the thickest of 2-3″ limbs. Scissors have a good feel to them and cut easily.

Tool selection is great. However it’s not a replacement for a complete tool box. Well worth the investment. 25 year warranty. You can’t go wrong.

The quality of this tool is great. I love the handles’ butterfly type deployment and one handed operation of all the different tools. The different blades are sturdy and are of the highest quality. But there is a major design fault with the pliers, which is discussed regularly on the forms.

If you apply even a moderate amount of force, the pliers become stiff and no longer open/close freely. You are then forced to wriggle the handles side to side to free it up. Leatherman are aware of this problem and are doing nothing about it.

My Gerber, on the other hand, as ‘inferior’ as some claim it to be, is faultless and is now the multitool I reach for. I lodged a claim with Leatherman and they have a 6 to 8 week delay ‘due to Covid 19’.

I have this knife I received as a gift, years ago. It’s been a good knife, holds an edge well. That said, my husband likes the knife even more than I do – he uses it to fillet fish. The instructions say to use the knives for two weeks before you follow the sharpening routine and then sharpen every two weeks. These knives cut everything very easily. The instructions to sharpen knives were very easy to follow.

You have to make sure that when you are sharpening knives that you go all the way to the bottom of the sharpener, no matter how long the knife is. Bigger knives are inserted at the top and the smaller knives are inserted at the bottom of the opening.

Once in place, slide the lever all the way up and back all the way down 10 times, then carefully take the knife out, rinse and dry the knife thoroughly before storing. These knives need to be hand washed and never washed in the dishwasher.

Washing them in the dishwasher can decrease the quality of the knife, damage the blade edge and reduce the stainless steel integrity. I typically wash by hand and let air dry before storing but the instructions say to dry them thoroughly before storing to prevent watermarks and spotting.

The block is easy to clean as well with a thorough wipe down. The shears come apart for easy cleaning. There are also suction cups at the bottom of the base to keep the knife block in place. If you ever need to move the block, be sure to remove all the knives before doing so.

This comes with a “Quick Start Guide”, which gives you the sharpening instructions, sharpener tips and tricks, recommended knife usage, what’s in the box and cleaning& care. So far, I have been thoroughly impressed with this set and recommend this to those who are looking for a better knife experience.

I have owned many knife sets throughout the year’s and can honestly say this is the best so far. The metal of the knife is full length all the way through the handle and the rivets securely hold the handles in place.

The signature colors of black and silver on the knifes and the base unit match other Ninja products that we have in our kitchen creating a pleasing color match. I have to honestly say I was disappointed with the addition of a knife sharpener in the storage unit, first impression – it is a gimmick.

It was hard to operate and I did not understand the science of how it works. After watching the online video and re-reading the instructions, watching the operation of the sharpening stone did I realize how it works.

You have to follow instructions and move the handle all the way up and all the way down, no stopping. The sharpening actions actually occurs on the downward stroke as you can see through the translucient window on the side.

It actually worked! The knifes are so sharp you really have to be carefull when cutting as a careless error can be awful. Would have been nice for the knife handles to have a little more texture for ease of gripping.

The sharpener is not a gimmick, really does work but does not replace a sharpening steel to get that really fine cutting edge. Gets my vote!.

I really enjoy this set! The three knives offer a great variety for your camp cooking needs. I’ve used the cutting board when my other cutting boards were occupied, so it was nice to have it. The case can also fit a few more things, I’m storing a wine opener in mine.

Overall, this kit is an excellent addition to a car camping set up. I like how everything fits in the case and keeps it all organized. No more worrying about random knives floating around in the camping bin.

I’m back with another knife review and this one is a big one. I picked up this knife about a year ago after getting my new job as a little present to myself. I purchased it for around $250. At first glance, the knife is absolutely stunning.

I would change no part of the appearance of the knife. When holding it, the balance of the knife is perfect and the weight is fairly light but heavy enough to allow for easy cutting. The overall design feels very sturdy.

No wobble to the handle which is very important. The blade, although it feels fragile, is quite the opposite being able to take some abuse and stay razor sharp when taken care of properly. The one reason why I had to knock a star off for this knife is the bolster design.

The shape is an octagon which may look great, but does have some sharper edges which caused me some blistering after a longer period of time and some discomfort after the first few minutes. I feel that knives with the rounded bolster tend to be much more comfortable.

With that being said, I tend to power through it and find no problem using it as a special knife when I want to be more presentational. Overall I think this knife would make a great gift idea for someone with similar tastes in knives!.

This knife (Miyabi Koh 8” gyuto) is fantastic, and way underrated. I mostly use two knives, this one and a small paring knife, and they are sufficient for almost everything. I had no quality issues, so I can’t comment on defects.

Mine seems well crafted with good attention to detail (comes with a warranty anyway). The things I love most about this knife is that it is light and nimble, the handle is very comfortable and secure (and in many positions) and it easily slices through everything, even hard winter squash.

All other 8+inch chef’s knives that I tried have handles which are too fat/uncomfortable for me, and most blades are needlessly heavy and thick. The stainless steel on this seems great too. It is razor sharp, and after months of daily use cutting lots of winter squash, hard root vegetables, acid fruit, and everything else in sight, it is still super sharp without once touching it up with a honing rod or strop.

There were some rocking santokus and prep knives which I considered because they have small handles and are also nimble, but I wanted the versatility of a larger knife for the big squash, melons, and cabbage.

The one thing I don’t like about this knife is that the handle is about 1 inch too long (I am petite, so it sometimes hits my forearm). At first I didn’t like the flatter profile either, because it doesn’t rock as well as the knife I was used to.

However, after adjusting my cutting style I have had no problems. I can easily mince large bunches of parsley, and I slice, instead of wedge-split, the hard veggies. I think the thinner and narrower blade is one of the reasons it cuts so well.

Before purchasing, a sales clerk, whose dad was a butcher, told me he personally owns this knife and loves it. However, a few weeks later another sales clerk tried to talk me out of it. I think because it lacks the “sexy” layers of shiny (but useless) cladding.

Some merchants don’t carry this series, and it is left out of online comparisons. Too bad, because its nimbleness, simple elegance and functional excellence make it one of the best knives in my opinion.

I really love the octagon handle; I like it better than the D-shaped, right-handed handles from some other manufacturers like Shun. The octagon handle adds much more grip than round handles while also being ambidextrous.

Used the carving knife for the first time last night and my husband was very pleased on how well the knife cut the meat. Usually uses an electric knife and found the carving knife did a great job. Sliced thriugh the meat wirh ease.

I bought a beautiful ikon creme knife set but the block the gave me is hideous. I don’t mind natural variety in wood but parts of it look like it came from different types of trees. I asked to exchange it for another color and provided photos of what was advertised versus what i received and they refused to do an exchange, and also said they couldn’t see a difference between the ad photos and what i received.

I wish i could add photos but am unable to here for some reason. I paid $800 bucks and they wouldn’t exchange it even though it was still wrapped and they had the other block color available on the website.

I think they have a lifetime guarantee on the knives but they dgaf if you are happy with the whole product. Will send this particular purchase right back where it came from.

The chefs knife on its own is a good knife for small hands, it’s well balanced and stays sharp. But it’s no replacement for the fully forged version. It doesn’t have the weight or control. Regarding the paring knife, it’s a lightweight knife and too small for my hands (I’m 6’5, big hands).

It feels like a small steak knife. Does stay sharp though. The sharpener drags the score down. Its taken chunks out of some of my knives with the honing side. The sharpening side works ok, but if you are buying for the sharpener I’d avoid.

Good value overall on deal for approx $130 at Myer. I’d not buy at full price.

Have always had a Chinese chopper until my daughter taxed it so I had to buy another one! I do all my cutting with it & is the best & safest blades to use when cutting if you are shown how! Quality blade!.

Over the years I’ve collected high end knives from Japan, Germany, the U. S. and others. The Hast collection outperforms them all and I use the set almost exclusively now. I love the way they maintain sharpness, they are lovely to look at, and they handle beautifully with their one-piece design.

Got this as a Christmas gift through MJ. I’m happy with it overall. Relatively lightweight and has the most common tools needed for day-to-day use. I like that the knife is a one handed movement too.

Knocked a star off because the dark grey finish has already started to scratch off after just a little over a week worth of use.

The Skeletool cx no longer has carbon fiber like shown in Moosejaw’s picture and mentioned on Leatherman’s website at the time of purchase. The Phillips bit won’t lock in the driver with the #2 side out, which is annoying as it is probably my most used driver.

The pliers are a little flimsy, specifically when twisting. Also, the pocket clip came loose. Otherwise it is a decent lightweight multitool option.

Bought this to replace the one my absent minded self left somewhere. Felt naked without carrying one,after about 2 months without it I relized how much I use it. Once you carry one you will not want to be without it.

But it needs a GPS located or I need a memory.

I have been carrying Opinels around on hikes for decades, in various sizes and steel types. The No. 7 is small and light but still functional. Go for the No 8 if you want a handier food prep knife. I also prefer the carbon steel to the stainless version: easier to sharpen.

I deduct one star because the wood handle tends to eventually swell / contract, so the lock ring does not always stay tight (or the blade is rather difficult to open). Can’t remember this happening to the same extent on previous / older versions.

I’ve been eyeing Opinel knives for 30 plus years, but have always been a Victorinox multinational knife fan. For fixed blades, I have a Morakniv carbon scout. The Opi #7 is the perfect compromise in blade size.

I couldn’t believe how light this knife is, perfect for my new ultralight ventures. Out of the box, it’s super sharp, and being carbon, easy to resharpen. I’ve been oiling the handle and blade, as recommended after each use.

I have used these off and on for years. They’re a solid knife. They fit well into most tool pouches and use pretty standard blades, which is nice. The extra blade storage is extremely nice, especially when working with gypsy wallboard or something that takes a toll on blades frequently.

They are solid and I can’t remember a time when they failed to hold a blade in cutting position for me or when they accidentally opened in my pocket. The only complaint that I have for them is the fact that the blade storage occasionally pops open in a pocket and drops blades.

Normally it only happens when I am fairly active but it can be hard on pants pockets.

I love Stanley utility knife products. I have this one and two “”Fat Max”” Stanley utility knives. I like this one for it’s slender design as it is less heavy than the Fat Max and fits better in my work apron.

I also like the safety cutting slot on the bottom of the knife which allows you to cut threads or plastic cords safely without extending the blade – this feature is not found on the Fat Max. The on-board storage of blades of this design is only 3, as compared with the 5 blade storage of the Fat Max, but I find the blades on this design are somewhat easier to change than the on the Fat Max handles.

This is from the prospective of one who fixes tools for a living. Most of the time, these knives work well and as intended. I did get a bad batch a while back. the blade extender/retractor needed a little bit of tweaking in order for it to fully engage the lock notches.

It was a simple fix, however, you never should have to fix a tool out of the box. I contacted Stanley and they said they would notify there quality department of the issue and since then I have had no more bad batches.

as for some who have issues with a piece of the packaging being left in the knife after tearing it out, there is an arrow on the back side of the package that indicates where to tear it. If you follow that instruction, you can cleanly remove the packaging strait out the front of the knife.

If you ever have to perform maintenance on it, with a little practice you can put these together quite quickly, although you should not have to until after quite a bit of use.

Excellent knife! Maintains a superior edge and its full tang is uncommonly strong. A compact knife that performs very well. Handle grip is great when wet. The sheath is innovative: it retains the knife securely and provides one hand release as well as providing numerous mounting options on different types of gear.

Has the strongest belt clip I’ve ever used. I highly recommend this knife-I bought 4 of them to support my various outfits-hunting,fishing,backpack and range box.

Good little back up knife. I like that it small, and that it is molle compatible. It lives on the webbing on my pack, very secure when mounted to Molle not a great knife not a bad knife, it’s affordable and you get what you pay for.

I wouldn’t recommend it as your primary knife, spend more and get more, Look at Mora or Helle which will outlast you. But the little Buri kinda grows on you.

Would have given it more stars, but the handle is a little small and slippery. On a positive note, the knife locks into the sheath securely, so very little chance of losing it. So far so good.

I’ve always wanted a good quality knife for cooking and I’d heard a lot about Wusthof as a maker. This is my first one and it’s all the knife I could hope for and more. The quality is superb and the sharpness is insane.

I thought I’d seen sharp knives before but this is on another level! It makes slicing effortless. The balance is perfect, just in front of my index finger. So even though it’s not a light knife it takes no effort to you.

And due to the excellent blade shape it can rock back and forth for cutting herbs really well. The length at 18cm is perfect for me. You can still choke up on the knife for more detailed work but you have enough length to cope with most tasks you will encounter.

I couldn’t recommend this knife highly enough.

I purchased this chef’s knife as a gift for a friend. I received mine as a gift a few years earlier form another acquaintance. This knife is a game changer in the kitchen. This knife isn’t cheap However, the quality of the knife means that it will last a lifetime.

Sometimes, gifts should be used as an opportunity to purchase things for friends or loved ones that they wouldn’t ever think of splurging on themselves. This has been our circle of friends’ mantra, lately.

I am a firm believer that you only need one hood knife and I have been using my smaller santoku knife for 20 years however, I often found myself lacking for larger jobs and tougher things to cut. This knife will be the only one I use from now on for big jobs.

It’s amazing. The handle is heavy enough to give the job oomph but not so heavy you can’t control it or tired hands. The edge is so smooth and sharp. I’m amazed actually. Worth every cent.

I’ve had this tool for 2 months. It is very light and the knife blade deploys quickly, making it my new EDC. The pliers are great, I’ve used them to remove splinters in the field. The biggest problem is rust.

One day in my canoe bag, the tool got slightly damp. By the next morning, the knife blade and pliers both had rust on them. This is unacceptable for an otherwise high-quality tool. My $30 steel knife has never had this problem.

The clip on this Leatherman is atrocious. The tool constantly jumps out of my pocket. I’ve had to buy a magnetic wand so that I can find it when working in my garden. Again, never a problem with my $30 knife that weighs about the same.

Maybe a fatter clip or 2 clips would work better. The extra tool bit holder sucks. It drops the bit all the time. I’m surprised I still have the original bit that came with it but eventually I will have to replace it.

The spare bit holder should be placed on the inside of the tool so that when the tool is closed this is not a concern. 20 times in the last 2 months the tool has jumped out of my pocket, landed on a hard surface and the screwdriver bit has fallen out.

Otherwise a great tool, I use it for hockey, boating, gardening, etc. A file and a ruler could be cut into the tool without adding anything extra.

I really do love this tool. It made it right into the first position for my everyday carry. It fits perfectly into my right pocket without much bulk at all. It has the top 4 things that I use almost everyday: knife, pliers, screwdriver and bottle opener.

That it! Don’t really need anything else on a quick grab tool. If I do, I will just grab a much better tool. Speaking of this, other than the knife, the tools are really for light work. Not super reliable for consistent work.

For example, the pliers are manual open and close, and fairly small. The screwdriver bits are small, so as to fit in the small storage (they can be lost easily too). The knife is great and will be used the most, which will allow for this tool to stay in my pocket over just a knife that would be much better.

However, this knife is easy to open with one thumb flick, it locks great, and can be closed with one hand. It is also very sharp at the moment, and has a straight and serrated blade. Love it! I like the deep carry pocket clip and the a simple carabiner to attach to belt loop when using a lot.

Overall, love the tool. I like the color and design. It is fairly light and holds well in the hand.

This is my 4th Leatherman. I’m on the hunt for the one that has it all and does it all but isn’t too big and is comfortable to handle. This is getting pretty close. I have had the Supertool for a few decades and it is great but the edges on the handles back then are a bit hard, which makes crimping a bit uncomfortable.

The Surge is much better in that regard. And so is the Skeletool. I also prefer not to have to open the entire tool to get at the blade, like on the Supertool or using 2 hands, like on the Juice. I wouldn’t mind having scissors or a saw and a file, but then we get back into bigger tools or not a one handed blade design.

So far I have had use for all the tools on the skeletool and have only really missed the scissors once. While I was at the office. Where we have lots of scissors. Mind you, the blade is super sharp, so in most cases it can do what I need scissors for.

I foresee this being my everyday carry for quite a while, with the odd time where I will bring out the Juice for an evening or the Surge for going places where we won’t have access to other tools.

What comes to mind when you first heard the name Zwilling? I’ve heard “the BMW of knives” or the “Hermes of knives” well the product lives up to every bit of its name. When you first unbox the knives, you jump with excitement, one that makes a little bit of pee drizzle out.

When you first touch the handle, it feels like you are first laying hands on the partner of your dreams, the excitement continues to build. You take a moment to pause and enjoy the beauty of the engineering.

The way the light reflects off the blades. You think about weather you want to even toss away it’s packaging, for you want to savor this first time you unpack the knives. You continue to Unwrap each knife slowly, as you don’t want this to end too quickly.

You pause again to read each word of the protected knife packaging – no matter that the language is in German and you don’t understand each word. Still you stand there and pretend to comprehend. You slide each knife slowly into its block, careful not to poke the wood too hard fearful of damaging each tip.

Even though these knives would be able to handle it. You take another moment to be in awe of its beauty, placed so magnificently on the counter. You start to imagine what kind of items you would use it for.

But that moment is too far away. You think to yourself, do you even want to use it and contaminate the steel. You start to daydream about a YouTube show and putting these knives on full display. Prepping for a 5 star Michelin restraint.

I have had this set for about a month. This is my first set of real knives. I reached my 5 year milestone from my company and it was between this Zwilling Gourmet 7 piece set or a JA Henckels International 14 piece set.

Although I really wanted the JA Henckels, I decided to go with the Zwilling because it was made in Germany. I’ve done my reviews and ultimately I’d rather have the better quality vs more knives. They say the 2 main knives you’re going to use really are the chef’s knife and the pairing knife most of the time anyways.

I’ll eventually get some steak knives later but at least I can piece my set how I want. The main thing was getting the Zwilling German Chef’s knife. It is really sharp, well balanced, and very high quality.

The block is also very nice as well. The only reason I gave this set a 4 and not a 5 is because I would’ve wished for a Santoku knife instead of the bread knife and instead of the 3″ vegetable knife (it already came with a pairing knife), maybe a 5″ utility serrated knife.

Lastly, the shears are made from China and not Germany. All these are not deal breakers. Very happy with my set.

This knife set is a replacement for an old wooden handled Chicago Cutlery set. I wanted to use these knives before giving a review and one month into owning these knives I am pleased with their performance.

They are stamped and not forged knifes and therefore are lightweight in the hand and very easy to use. The handles are comfortable and easy to maintain. The blades are so sharp that prepping vegatables and fruits seem effortless.

The array of different knives in this collection will fit any kitchen need. I find cut vegges/fruits do have a tendency to stick to the surface of the chef knife as others have mentioned. It’s not a deal breaker for me but if I was using the knife in a professional setting it may be a nuisance.

The steak knives have no serration on the blades but are plenty sharp and cut meat well. I do handwash my knives and they are all looking splendid after a month of moderate use.

Upon receiving my new Bubba, battery powered, unit I was super excited to be free from the power cord. After my 2nd cleaning session with it it I am extremely disappointed. The power just isn’t there.

The speed with which I used to be able to clean fish with my old electric is no longer there. Also ran into issues with the blade not cutting through the belly skin on an eater sized walleye. I feel like it was grabbing the skin and wiggling it back and forth due to the lack of speed being put to the blades.

Maybe it’s because I got the battery powered unit instead of the AC version? Curious if the AC version has better power or if the unit I have can be adapted to AC power. Chances are good I will never know as I am unwilling to pay that premium price again and risk being burned again.

It came in mail fast. Looked good and new. Was using it to process a deer. The battery life was a positive it would take allot game to go through both batteries. I went through 2/3 of first one seemed to last a long time.

I didnt like how the blades fit down into the handle so far and the power trigger stuck down in the on position twice. I used some wd40 and seemed to get it working better but almost returned it. I used it the night it came in and havent had a second chance to use it.

Ill be trying it on some fish when I get back into town may update then. The knife seems to be of good quality material and looks like it will probably hold up pretty good only time will tell. $107 much better then $169 or more for that price as long as trigger doesnt continue to stick I should be satisfied.

I’m not going to lie, I got this knife on sale cause I wasn’t sure of it BUT it has really impressed me. 1) The batteries last a super long time. I finally took it off the knife after a fall of fishing to recharge and it was down to one bar, probably could have done another 25 fish with it.

Cleaned 200 panfish, 25 walleyes, 10 pickerel, and 2 northern on one charge. 2) plus you get a backup battery 3) four different blade sets 4) nice case that actually everything fits in. 5) textured comfortable grip.

I have owned 4 Rapala electrics, two American anglers, a couple of other brands, burned them all out, fresh water and salt, so I know a thing or two about electrics. So far this is the best of them. I would buy another and I would buy one as a gift for a good friend.
