I gave this rating four stars for the warranty and I hope that I just got a bad motor off the shelf. To be fair for the first three months it worked like a dream. I always laid it on the back seat of my crew cab so it was never damaged in transit.

After less than three months thought, the forward drive just up and quit with no warning. Not what I would expect from Minn Kota. I took it back to Canadian Tire and they gave me a brand new one off the shelf with no questions asked.

While I am pleased I will say that if the second one fails prematurely I will definitely not buy one again regardless of the warranty. For what it is worth I am of the opinion that I just happened to get the bad one off the shelf as Minn Kota seems to have a good reputation and when the motor worked, it was outstanding.

I have to restated that they stand behind their products and that means a lot to me.

As I don’t have much to compare to as this is my first time using one. It works great no problems fist time out. Light weight feels like a feather compared to the 72lb battery. Ran it for a few hours, got home recharged the 110ah agm battery back to full charge in 15 mins with a noco 10 amp battery charger.

So the 40lb thrust Endura didn’t use much juice at all on a 9ft x 4ft inflatable pontoon with a little more than 400 lbs weight, also got good speed at the highest setting. The handle extends if need be and was comfortable to hold on too.

I did ad a bullnose rudder to the Endura 40 just because it was a suggestion in helping it track better.

Upon installation it was apparent that the motor must have been dropped during shipping. The first two speeds would not work, and any higher speeds would make a terrible grinding noise. I called MinnKota and they gave me the option to return it to the store for an exchange, or bring it to a repair facility 45 minutes from my house.

I opted to return it, as it should work as expected from the factory. I brought it back to my local bass pro shops, and they refused to return it without the original box, despite MinnKota telling me to return it to the store.

When I called bass pro, they gave me an option to ship it back to them, at my own expense of finding a box big enough.

Excellent Service and Excellent Electric engine, would Recommend to people to use Duo Hook to purchase there products, polite staff over the phone and very helpful.

The logo plate on top of the Rhino fell off while unpacking. Minor problem, but it makes you wonder if the delivered Rhino is indeed new as advertized. Hence the service to solve this and a wrongly delivered additional item was far from friendly.

The result, no service at all.

1 star for the motor itself and because I can’t give zero. I bought this kit today and used it once this afternoon on my kayak for a few hours. ITS ALREADY BROKEN. As soon as I was in the water and gave it try, it twisted on the mounts and propeller me on an angle.

I stopped and corrected the angles, and tightened the clamps as much as I could without tools (they’re handles not screws, so meant to be hand tight) but it twisted again second try. I spent the remainder of the trip up river fighting against the bracket twisting constantly.

About halfway into a 4 hour fish, the nut on the handle stripped the plastic away due to the adjustments I was having to make, and is now useless. I made my way home with my hand on the motor itself to steer.

IT DIDNT LAST ITS FIRST TRIP! Horrible quality. Horrible design. I wish I read the reviews before I purchased this junk. Don’t waste your time.

Not suitable for all kayaks. Installation appears easy enough, but the only suitable location on my kayak meant thd horizontal pole digs into your ribs. I needed to build a mounting surface to put it on.

The recommended battery is also too heavy causing water to flood into the back of my kayak. Moving the battery forward did work, but then cables got in the way, and it was very unstable to try and change speed, height etc.

That also made it near impossible to paddle. Mounting the motor to the side seems to cause a strong turn and steering is quite sensitive. Some parts come factory assembled already, saving time for installation.

One part on mine was installed upside down which means i now have to remove the motor head anyway. Something i was hoping to avoid. These motors would work fine on a bigger, more stable kayak with room and strength for a heavy battery.

But not for a smaller one. Id also suggest going for the 24lb or higher.

Motor works well, but the supporting components are very poorly designed. The stainless steel M8 nuts measure 13. 2mm across flats, but the plastic housing has internal hex dimensions of 14mm so the nuts actually turn in the housing before they can be fully tightened, and because they are contained in the plastic hex you can’t hold them with a spanner.

This meant the the whole assembly was too loose, so it rotated when the motor was powered up so the tiller handle broke off in my hand. I’ve since made my own larger nuts and replaced the broken handle so it works well now, but it was a pretty disappointing outcome.

BCF said that they would have to send it back to the manufacturer rather than swap it for a new one, which is fair enough, but meant I would be without it for several weeks and that’s why I fixed it myself.

No criticism of BCF, but poor structural design by the manufacturer.

One of the risers in my Merc 7. 4L 454 engine was over heating when I was flushing the out-drive of salt-water. Needless to say I was starting to get very concerned. As it turns out the problem was with my old out-drive flushing unit which only supplied water from one side (as is typical with most of these flushing units), which translated to only one of the risers being supplied with adequate cool water.

Before taking drastic measures (deconstructing the cooling and exhaust systems to investigate), I switched to this Motor Flusher and things went back to normal. It saved me a lot of time, money and aggravation.

The only issue was that the device was a little to wide so it didn’t make a great seal on the out-drive and would move around when I turned up the water pressure on the hose–I bent the metal bracket by hand to make the squeeze tighter which solved the issue.

2021 suzuki DF25/30A short shaft/won’t quite fit, will work w/a bungee though w/full water pressure. This unit would work well on larger drives, although the specs say 20hp and up.

Use this to flush a 50hp Johnson and it fits snug and works great. Takes a couple tries to find the best way to situate it but once you do you’ll get a good tracer every time.

For me, the features of the mid-section are the greatest innovations since the release of 4-stroke engines. Mercury has designed a ratcheting adjustable trim with three presets depending on transom angle.

Need to trim up a bit more for shallow water? Simply press down on the tiller handle and the motor will tilt up in small increments. Tilting all the way up is a one-handed operation and does not require the operator to lean over the stern to engage a locking lever.

Tilting down is easy too with the easy-to-find release handle. There is also a lock to keep the motor tilted up in the following sea- a safety must for sailors. Ive had the motor for a couple of weeks.

Everything I needed to get on the water was in the box. Even a bottle of oil was included. The throttle is combined with the gear shift. No more facing the stern to shift with a separate lever. Twist clockwise for forward and counter-clockwise for reverse with a neutral in the middle.

There is throttle-only button on the starboard side of the engine if you need to warm it up. Great experience so far. The documentation that came with mine was minimal, and there is not yet a PDF Owners Manual available for this model.

Mercury will sell a paper copy upon request. YouTube videos were helpful to get started.

I have this on an inflatable rubber boat for duck, goose and pheasant hunting. Using it during the summer to get used to it prior to using it during hunting season. About 3-4 trips so far. Last time I used it, I got several miles up the river and the motor wouldn’t start.

It took about 20-30 minutes of pullling with a cracked rib and looking up the manual on my phone when there was reception to get it started again. Going to find out if the warranty is worth the money when I try to get this resolved.

Had I been down river, I would have been in a panic.

Finally got a chance to get new motor out for a test run. Had to pull harder than expected on rope. Motor fired up after 3 to 4 tries. Idle RPM OK. Motor ran smoothly for first time out. Had more than enough power for my 14 ft Jon boat.

Tiller steering was tight but tension was easy to adjust with tension control lever. Motor ran well through all RPM ranges. Top speed was 25. 2 MPH. Hopefully it will be easier to start after break-in period.

So far I’m satisfied with my purchase.

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS MOTOR, SO MUCH, SO I’M YELLING! Granted, I replaced an outboard from 1988, so the bar is low, but I simply love this engine. The shipping was fine, and they even loaded it into my garage.

The parts were all there, and the outboard was unscathed by the shipping. Within an hour, I had it mounted on my boat, oil added to it, and tested it in a tub of water. It took a number of pulls to get it started, but since the initial start, it starts with one pull.

Actually, I hardly yank the pull, and it starts. It is very quiet at idle. On my 14′ V-hull tin boat, with two adults I’m getting almost 20mph. I’m still in the 8-hour break-in phase, so I haven’t spent much time at open throttle.

But while operating it at half throttle range for an hour, it drank less than a 1/2 gallon of gas. From the inside to the outside, it is just a solid piece of equipment, and I am so happy I spent a little extra on the Honda.

The only snafu was I dumped in a whole quart of oil when I first got it. I had thought it was shipped without any oil. Apparently, there was some oil in it (I should have looked at the dipstick, but that happens to be my nickname).

So after letting it sit overnight and tilting the engine up and down a number of times to make sure the oil saturated the oil filter and all nooks and crannies, I had about half a quart too much, which was easy enough to remove.

I’ve got almost 7 hours on it in 3 days. Heck, I’m not fishing at all, just enjoying speeding along our 7 miles lake with a 10HP limit. I am just so happy with this engine and the ease of use, the quiet, and the power.

I bought this motor in the summer but didn’t get a chance to use it until the fall, but once I did, I’ve been very pleased. I’ve used it now enough to be able to say it’s a great motor. It’s heavy (which I expected after reading the specs), so it took two of us to get it onto the back of my boat, but it’s not going anywhere, so that’s okay.

The printed manual is excellent, and once I worked the outboard motor through the break-in period, I was amazed at how fast it could go and how slowly it could troll. Fuel efficiency is good, controls are simple, powerlifting and power start are great, and it’s a quiet machine.

I originally bought this same motor this spring, but without an electric start or power tilt. I was going to keep it simple. Well, my motor, which was going to last me the rest of my life, was ruined when I was rear-ended on the way back from the lake.

So, I was given a second chance to make a choice. After weighing all the other brands, I decided to go with the same motor but with the electric upgrades. They really do make life simpler. I am actually glad I got a second chance to make the right decision.

No more second-guessing. Hopefully, this is the motor that will last my lifetime.

I put this on my 14 Aluminum, and I could not be happier with this motor. Not only does it look great, but it has great features. One, it’s light and pretty easy to install. It just clamps on and then 2 bolts through the transom.

The Gas tank plugs right into the receptacle. There’s no messing around with screws or pieces to lose. It started right up, and the Tiller is probably the best feature. Its forward reverse shifter makes it super simple.

Turn the handle and this baby took off like a shot. The break-in is super simple, just read the manual, you can’t go wrong. The top speed for my boat was 24 MPH, into the wind, I’m guessing I can top 26 on a calm day.

3 people with the gear I easily hit 20MPH. The steering is super smooth, and not too loose, so it stays in the direction you steer it. I really cannot say enough about this motor. If you can find one in stock somewhere, DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THIS MOTOR!.

What a great motor. The way this is packed is clean and could see no way it could be damaged. Then setting it up for the first time was easy, and it fired up on the 3rd pull. Once in the water we followed the break-in procedure, and man, that is hard cause I just wanted to go full throttle n go! After the break-in period, it has great power, runs quiet, and does great on fuel.

Very happy with this motor. The best part is all the adjustable features, from handle angle to throttle twist, it sure is nice and easy to use.

I have been buying Honda since 1972. Motorcycles, rototillers, generators, several cars, and 3 boat motors. I had a 7. 5 hp in the mid-70s. It ran like a champ. I bought a 5 hp about 10 years ago and replaced it with this 8 hp.

The power difference is astounding. The four-blade prop makes the difference. At 90 pounds, I have bolted it to the transom of my Jon boat and bought a transom saver. The 5 hp only weighed 65 pounds, so the weight difference has made it difficult to lift off and on for a 66-year-old man.

I still manage the weight. The motor started first pull. I spent the recommended 10 hours breaking it in. It pulls like a tractor, jumps up on plane at a little over half throttle, and runs a smooth as satin.

I did have to build up the transom 1 to get the anti-ventilation plate up to the 2 mark. That stopped water from splashing in from the rear. I love this motor.

I apparently ordered the wrong part? The picture above shows the motor equipped with a tiller. My order came configured for remote steering, throttle and shift control which I can’t use? Everything else; long shaft, power tilt and electric start is what I ordered.

Do you accept trade for the tiller model?.

I have four Honda outboards and now five with this new one. I see where they really cheapened them up. Now to change the oil filter you need to dismantle all the cowling and to flush out the cooling system you need to take the engine cover off.

Looks like a lot of extra work compared to my 2000 9. 9s.

I am really enjoying using this product on the back of my Kayak. It has given me the extra boost I need whenever conditions on the water become rough. It was easy to set up and is also very quiet while using.

awesome This thing is sick man, I attached it to my kayak and it was both easy to use and was soo sick. I covered so much water with it so I could kayak further and explore more. Honestly, if you plan on going kayaking a lot, you gotta get this.

I purchased Bixby Jet after seeing the price on Fishing Online and reviews on You Tube. I still have to get on the water for a full review of the product but Fishing Online has great pricing and quick delivery.

This kicker replaced a 15 HP 2-stroke and is perfectly capable of moving my boat. The extended shaft works well with the bracket in the full-up position – so all I have to do is use the electric tilt to bring the motor in and out of the water.

I use a steering link to my primary motor for steering from the helm. I may add a remote throttle control also. The motor starts easy, I like having the pull start as backup. It’s nice that it will charge the batteries during operation.

The throttle stays where you set it for hands-free trolling. The one problem I have had is getting the tilt lock bracket locked when the motor is in the full-up position. It seems the straps are just a hair too short for that.

But I have a transom bracket I use when on the road, so it has not been a problem. This is a great motor – highly recommended.

Purchased this motor for use in our marine business. We needed something compact, reliable and fuel efficient to power one of our mobile repair boats- this small vessel puts on alot of miles and often bangs through rough seas.

It needs to be there for our customers- we can’t be regularly breaking down ourselves and not showing up. This small Merc is powerful enough and, being so new, is reliable enough. so far. My work partner, used to a separate shift control, finds the Merc’s throttle-shifter combo to be awkward.

It’s difficult to find neutral gear at lower speeds. A duplicate Merc 8 that a friend owns is experiencing similar difficulties and at one point got stuck in reverse gear. Our Merc 8 is almost three months old and has been nice to use overall, but a factory defect is causing problems; fuel is getting into the oil.

As a marine mechanic, I know the cause, but to honor the warranty, I have to find help from the dealer. Not only do I rely on this motor to earn a living, but it’s how I safely get home on a daily basis.

(I live along an island chain & have to travel by boat).

Shipping was fast and without any problems. I am waiting on my boat to try it out but my Mercury 9.9hp elec start outboard. I will update when I get to put it in the water.

Extremely hard to start! I bought this because my Honda engines I have on everything else are great and usually pretty reliable. Well first time I started it took well over an hour with 3 different people trying to start this thing before it finally started.

Ran it to warm it up for a while, puttered around the boat ramp and restarted it a couple times before heading out to fish. Get to my spot, fished for about two hours and then guess what? Motor would not start again.

A brand spanking new outboard and I had to use my 15 year old trolling motor to get back to the boat launch. Not happy at all with this motor so far. Almost spent the night on the river because of this thing.

I either misread your sale specs or they were changed. I thought the internal tank spec was 1. 5 gals & it was 1. 5 liters (. 40 gal). So far, I’ve only used the internal tank. It runs well, but I have to pull the rope about 15 times to start.

When using the internal tank the manual says to pull the rope 10 times w/the kill switch on to prime the carb, then reinsert the kill switch flange & start. In the 5 times, I’ve ran it, it has taken at least 15 pulls of the rope (including the 10 to prime).

Please tell me if I’m doing something wrong, or give me any advice that would help. My 1986 Evinrude usually started in no more than 3 pulls. I’m 81 yrs old & don’t want to have a heart attack trying to start a boat motor.

The first thing I noticed was that the oil fill plug was cross-threaded. I needed a large plier to get it out. Ordered a new one online. Fits correctly. Very difficult to start the first time. Yes, I followed the manual instructions.

Even after “break-in” time, this is not a one-pull start engine. Even when warmed up it is difficult to start when. No choke it will not start. Full choke it will not start. When I get the choke pulled just right it starts.

Does not run slow as I would like for fishing. Quiet when running slow but much louder when running fast. This is not an easy one pull starts outboard, which is what I wanted.

We’ve owned our Travel 1103 CS Electric Outboard for close to 1 year. I appreciate the convenience of being able to carry it to & from the dinghy so I don’t have to leave it on the dinghy or in the water.

We primarily us it on our dinghy to get to & from the boat on the mooring, or when traveling. It has adequate power, commensurate with the specs, & has the benefit of being able to remove the battery to make the individual parts even lighter.

I am pleased with the convenience, quality & functionality. I do have a couple of squawks. First, when disconnecting the cables from the battery, there is very little to grip on the connector to unscrew them.

If your fingers are even remotely damp, it is virtually impossible to unscrew the tiny tiller cable, and the battery cable is only marginally better because it is larger. There needs to be more “texture” or contour to the screw connectors to grip them with your finger tips to unscrew them.

This is a product engineering issue that I am surprised got to production or beyond the first iteration. Yes, it is usable, but one nearly has to take pliers to the connectors to get them lose. I am also surprised that there is no cap on the sockets to protect them from moisture when not connected.

Next, I do not understand the engineering of the tiller handle. There is an aluminum tube with hand grip. This tube slides into the end of the tiller housing. When rotated, it controls the direction (ahead & back), & the throttle setting.

If this tube/handle is inadvertently pulled part way out of the tiller assembly, the motor does not respond to the tiller controls – at all. One may not even notice that it has been extended slightly.

It recedes several (8-10?) inches into the tiller assembly, and a half inch slip is unnoticeable. I see no engineering reason that it is not securely attached to the tiller assembly.

After years of messing with petrol outboards and struggling to lift them from the pushpit of my boat into the tender and all the other things I didn’t like about them, such as having to carry petrol on the boat, difficulty starting etc.

I had started looking at the Torqeedo range of electric outboards. I was lucky enough to meet a guy who owned a 1003, (discontinued) and he let me have a spin in his tender which convinced me to invest in my own.

I had originally intended to purchase a 603 short shaft model because it is lighter, but stocks were very low with long delivery times so instead purchased an 1103 c which was available and has a higher battery capacity.

The weight of the leg for both models is the same, so no issues with lifting the leg from the pushpit to the tender. The battery for the 1103 weighs 6kg, almost 2 kg more than the 603 but is very easy to handle so I think I made the right choice because of the extended range.

After 3 months of use, I can report that I am very happy with my purchase. The 1103c has exceeded my expectations. It is extremely quiet, and very responsive. The battery life is exceptional when used at the lower speed range which is good for most applications.

Due to supply issues, I made my own 12 volt charging lead so I can charge from the boat’s batteries. I probably saved myself 30 quid in the process by making my own. You just have to make sure to get the correct pin size (2.

5mm) for the plug that connects to the Torqeedo battery. I don’t like cigar lighter type plugs so instead used a 2 pin Belgin plug and socket for the other end of the charging cable. The biggest gain for me was the fact that this outboard breaks down into 3 manageable pieces rather than being one heavy lump.

The total weight is pretty much the same as my petrol 4 stroke, but I no longer struggle getting the outboard from the pushpit into my tender. The tiller has a box of tricks which gives the user real time GPS information including battery capacity remaining, speed over ground etc.

I will give it 5 stars, however there are a couple of things that niggle me. Occasionally, I get an error code after plugging the large cable into the battery. This cable is quite stiff and must be lined up perfectly or an error code will result.

It’s easy enough to rectify, just disconnect and reconnect the cable, taking more care to make sure it is lined up square with the socket, but still annoying. The main criticism, but not a deal breaker and I have emailed Torqeedo and received no reply is that there are no caps for the plugs and sockets when the outboard is disassembled, i.

e. not being used. It wouldn’t have cost much more during production to supply caps and would protect everything from water or foreign debris ingress. So overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone.

Pro’s The outboard is very responsive and easy to use. It is extremely quiet. The magnetic kill switch is brilliant. The engine is modular, so breaks down into 3 manageable pieces. Battery life is exceptional.

Con’s It’s quite expensive. No blanking caps for plugs and sockets.

I installed this motor on a 14′ aluminum fishing boat. I was looking for just simple and reliable and this motor delivers. You just slap it on the boat and go, no batteries to wire to, no gas and oil to mix, just quick and easy.

It pushes the boat to about 5 mph, which is quite a bit faster than any other trolling motors, it even starts to make a small wake. The battery only lasts about an hour at that speed, but slowing down to 3 mph increases that time to several hours.

My one complaint so far, is the motor doesn’t indicate which way to turn the control for forward or reverse, so I was trying to figure that out as I approached the dock. I marked with a sharpie until I remember it.

The motor is fine so far. Not too happy I was sent last year’s model. I even called and asked if it was a 2022 motor and was told it was because they sell a lot of motors. I received a 2021.

This kicker is amazing, running it with the Garmin RK 40, and love the power tilt and electric start. The drive-by remote is super helpful while trolling. EFI means no choke to deal with, just push the start button and she cranks for a second and fires up instantly.
