After using these for 2 parties and a few movie nights in the pool, these speakers have definitely surpasses my expectations. I had seen these on a social media post and was highly skeptical. I am so glad I bought these because the sound quality these speakers give off is nothing but crystal clear.

We’ve been able to link/connect them to practically any device that we have in my household and not matter which device that we connect these speakers to, we have not had any issues with them losing connectivity, unless we manually turn it off.

The look of the speakers do look like there is something there but at a quick glance you really don’t notice them. When it comes to volume control, everything is done on from our phones and love that I don’t have to download any special app or program in order to use these speakers.

I was able to connect them to a bluetooth projector that we have and we were able to do movie night in the pool. The sound of these speakers is very much close to my surround sound and even with different levels of bass, these speakers don’t sound muffled at all.

The sound quality from these speakers is so crystal clear, the screams that we’ve had coming from these while watching movies is very much lifelike that we had neighbors run over to check to see if everything was okay.

Great sound quality and so easy to setup. Not to mention, very long battery life on these speakers and the bonus for us was that they’re completely waterproof. Even with some splashing and the sprinklers kind of hitting these, they still work.

There is a rubber/silicone cover in the back that helps protect where you plug these speakers in to charge too. Also, these don’t fade either. These get a lot of sun that hits these and the paint on these still have not faded at all.

So many pros with these speakers that we actually don’t have any cons.

I bought this to place by the hot tub outside. It looks so great since even the texture is reminiscent of a rock. It blends in well because the hue is comparable to the pebbles we already have in our landscaping.

It looks distinctive and is different, which I enjoy. Unless it’s going to freeze, I can just leave it outside because it’s waterproof. Being able to listen to music without having to bring my device inside and outside is wonderful.

More so than I anticipated, the sound quality is excellent. There isn’t any static, and it is clear. You can use it for around 4 hours on one charge, and charging is quite simple. This is made for smaller areas, since it’s range is only 30 feet.

If you want more coverage, you’re able to pair together 2 of these speakers. We love to use it for background music when we have people over. We actually have 2 and had no problem pairing them together.

All you do is turn them both on, hit a button once on one rock and twice on the other and they’re connected. Then you can pair to your bluetooth device and you’re good to go. then pair to your phone.

These really do work great and I’d definitely recommend this speaker, especially if you’re looking for something different.

These speakers are super cool! Not only do they offer amazing sound, but it also looks great out by my pool! I love the uniqueness of this speaker, it doesn’t actually look like a speaker, but more so a part of our landscaping, it just blends right in.

It gives us tunes to enjoy while outside. It’s safe by the pool as it is waterproof and also it operates wirelessly. This allows us to place it wherever we want. We even take it in our camper with us when we go camping, we just have to be careful not to leave it behind when we go thinking it’s just a boulder in the wilderness.

😆 We have been able to play music continuously for 4 hours before needing a charge. It’s very durable and certainly a great piece of outdoors decor!.

Really like this speaker. Sounds great, lots of different functions. The wireless charger on top of the speaker was a great idea and it works well. And it will get loud. The volume really depends on the method used to input the music into the speaker, such as Bluetooth, direct aux line in, and the volume from the input device.

It does have an app but so far the app has been a little quirky. Wish the app had more options. Including a remote with the speaker would probably be a better idea. But it’s still a great speaker and you can’t beat the price at Sam’s.

We have a charter boat company and use this type of speaker on the boats. Any speaker MUST last at least 8 hours on full volume or its of no value to us. We changed to MONSTER this year from ION and the first FIVE speakers were defective.

From not taking a full charge to not charging at all to not turning on and also the batteries not lasting even four hours. We changed back to ION because they cost half as much and DO last a full season.

MONSTER looks good, and the stats look good but if they stop working after one or two weeks, they arent any good. One last thing. MONSTER will NOT stand behind the product. NO phone customer service and the emails requesting attention will all go unanswered.

I actually got this for my Tahoe. Lol. I didn’t want to deal with upgrading my wiring in the truck as it has some electrical issues that can’t be figured out. I found this and it’s the best speaker I’ve ever bought.

Sounds better with the app installed. Now I can use it in or out of my vehicle. Some cool features like mic input (sounds good), USB port, can opener telescopic handle, Radio presets and I believe wireless charging on top of it? It’s heavy and quality built.

I’m very happy with it. You can even pair up to eight of these and customize their individual volume settings. Timers, too.

I’ve been an audio enthusiast since the early 90’s and have listened to countless audio related configurations over the years with a critical ear, and when comparing every major brand within the same price range, the Xtreme 2 outclasses everything in terms of functionality, like being highly portable, waterproof with a high battery life, along with impressive captivating sound quality.

The same can be said about its predecessor, the first Xtreme, as well as the Charge 3 and previous generations. Few flaws are noted, but should be mentioned to avoid any unexpected disappointments. Number 1 is it is not backwards compatible using the Connect feature for multiple speaker pairings.

Anything not designated Connect+ will not pair together. Connect & Connect+ has been renamed PartyBoost on next generation JBL Bluetooth devices. Number two is not really a flaw in my opinion, but has been a complaint in other reviews.

AC mode has higher dynamic impact than battery mode. In other words, using it simply on battery power, it has less “umph” than being plugged in. It is a necessary evil to balance sound output with battery life, but not the deal breaker some have wrote about.

This really is a great speaker, and I suggest you read the many positive reviews from others, with whom I agree. I highly recommend it! However. The only instructions available anywhere is in the form of a Quick Start Guide (found in the box and online), but even that is sorely lacking in some very basic information about the features and how to use them.

But that’s it. There is no full User Manual. Anywhere. Period. To cite only one example: There isn’t even information in the Quick Start Guide about how to charge the unit, nor even a single mention of the Battery Indicator lights! In fact, while there are several diagrams showing the buttons and connections, and a chart that shows the different mode indicators, not one diagram even shows that there are, in fact, battery indicators lights! If you want any detailed information beyond what the pathetically sparse, and poorly designed Quick Start Guide provides, do not look to JBL or Harmon.

I can say that if you search online for specific operation info, you can find it from a number of different websites. But you will not find a User Manual explaining anything in more detail. I have owned a number of JBL products over 50+ years and have always been pleased with them.

But I have never seen anything like this from a company with such a great legacy. There is simply no excuse for any company to build a great product and not provide something as simple, inexpensive, and important as an actual User Manual.

Shameful.

I would strongly recommend anyone who is looking to buy this product to do there research and explore other options. I had purchased a JBL extreme speaker over a year ago with the hopes of bringing quality sound everywhere I wanted to go.

As great as the sound had been it is now useless to me do to the fact the battery can no longer hold a charge and it only works if is plugged in. After doing research it is a very common problem with the portable JBL products and as there customer support informed me it is cheaper to buy another speaker then have it repaired.

JBL (Harmon Audio) is fully aware of these issues and had even admitted to me over the phone that it is very common with these products. Because I had purchased this product past there one year warranty there is nothing they could do for me besides offer me a discount off there web page, which is exceptionally more expensive then where I had purchased the speaker originally.

I refuse to spend more of my hard earned money on a very expensive speaker that may or may not last longer then one year. So please rethink your purchase as this company knows the quality of there products and will not stand behind them.

I have been looking around for outdoor speakers that aren’t going to blow my wallet apart. Since my yard is kept looking natural and green, these were the perfect fit to keep discreet. I had people looking around my yard asking where the music was coming from and I had to keep telling them that the rocks were rocking out.

Haha! Anyway, these are great speakers. They are very easy to charge by either cable or by sun. I’ve only charged them by cable once. Pairing up the speakers was a cinch. My GF did the whole process with the pair and to her phone and she’s not very tech savvy.

It took her less than a minute and they sounded great. Since these are so loud, I have to keep the volume down, so that also means they play music for the whole day and possibly more. I’ve used them while I was working in the garage the whole day and again for the 4th of July BBQ.

The sound is very clear with no distortions. I’ve even had them spread very far apart with no problems. I do admit that they do sound a little bit like tin, but the housing offers good bass when you set your equalizer to give more bass and that will help compensate for the tin sound.

Since these are so clear though, I’ve heard instruments and extra little things in my music that I never knew were there before. All in all, I will buy more of these. These are just so carefree as far as maintenance goes.

I leave them out in my yard every day and use them with no problems the next time around. These are definitely worth the money and would suggest you buying them.

The speakers work well when they are in sync with each other. Unfortunately, you can only play two speakers at a time, which I found out when I ordered two more speakers to play in my yard. Wanted more speakers in my yard for continuous sound like with my wired speaker.

I returned the other two speakers. May need to seek wireless speakers with greater capabilities and expandability.

I bought these at the beginning of the summer to replace the rock speakers that I had from the summer before that quit working after only 2 months. I saw them online and realized they were solar. This feature is def a time saver.

haven’t had to plug them in to charge the whole summer. they just sit in the sun all day and work all the time. much better performance from these than the speakers that do not have the solar feature.

Just wish the range was really 30 feet. not even close. more like 10, maybe 15 feet. But still a good buy if you spend a lot of time outside.

Easy set up and fairly heavy for their size. However, the sound was unsatisfactory. Very thin sound. My Bose Soundlink sounds better. We returned them. They were difficult to rebox. Maybe the larger rock speakers would sound better.

Going to research and find a setup with better sound.

The sound quality on these speakers is good, but if you’re looking for the best, look elsewhere. They’re perfect for what I need, which is a small outdoor patio. I do have them out in the rain, and they still work fine, so they are indeed water resistant.

The bluetooth range on these is about 40 feet unobstructed; less than what is shown in the specs. Again not an issue for me, but something to keep in mind. What I do have an issue with is the Bluetooth chip that’s used.

First of all, the speakers identify themselves as “Bluetooth” when you are connecting to them. This is rather confusing if you use multiple bluetooth devices in your home. Second, if you leave range of the speakers and come back in range, you have to power them off and back on again to reconnect.

If the bluetooth chip was any good, it would automatically reconnect. I’ll be gutting mine and replacing the bluetooth chip soon. Lastly, the cable they came with was rather short and the tip broke within a week of use.

I was able to replace the cable with a subwoofer cable I had lying around. You can use any RCA cable, but a subwoofer cable tends to be higher gauge and shielded better.

Great sound. Only annoying part is that neither the red or green lights (indicating the unit is on via power cord or battery do not light up. )Also my unit does not work via battery power (I had new batteries).

Power cord works, but I have to stretch it across my patio to where the speakers are placed. I was hoping wireless meant no power cord needed, either. However the sound is great and returning items is always a hassle, so I’m keeping it.

Great sound and great connectivity to Bluetooth device, so, were it not for the battery problem and the power lights that don’t go on. it’s a great purchase. The canyon color rock style is a nice design feature.

We’ve had these for 2 weeks and 2 pool parties and so far they have been AWESOME! I bought them for my husband for an early Father’s Day gift. They are heavier than I expected – which was a good thing! We did buy new speaker wire that was longer and blended with the environment a bit better, so we could hide it.

Bluetooth seems to work pretty well, too! We’ve had a couple of issues with it dropping off from my iPhone 6+, but I think that was more of a wifi issue, not a router issue. The bluetooth has stayed connected even when carrying the phone across the pool to the other end, so that’s great! They have been wet once from a rain storm and are still ok.

Otherwise, my husband put quick connects on the cords so we can disconnect and shove under the gazebo when it rains. The sound is GREAT! Sounds like a concert in our backyard. We have thoroughly enjoyed them and have gotten compliments on them, too! The color works perfectly for our area as well.

The sound seems to stay primarily in the direction they are pointed, which is great as well, so we can crank up the tunes in the pool and not bother the neighbors as much. We live on a little over an acre of land, so the next house isn’t too close in the first place, but still.

It will be really loud IN the pool where the speakers are pointed, but then you can still talk when sitting in the gazebo behind the speakers. So far, these are a great purchase. A little pricey, but I feel like we got a good deal thus far! We’ll see how they hold up over time!.

This unit replaces the wireless speakers purchased 3 years ago (not bluetoothed). So far so good. Sound is great, plenty loud enough. I have it along one side of a 15’x25′ bluestone patio. The backyard is about a half acre and you can hear them no matter where you are standing.

My only concern is leaving them out when it rains or when the irrigation system comes on. The previous set became water logged over time and rendered useless. I have plastic bags over them when not in use.

A nice accessory would be two small drawstring style canvas covers (as an add on). I am searching high and low for something to do the trick.

i couldn’t ask for any thing better then those. They are load and clear and reliable. Big load parties not a problem. Load waterfalls not a problem the volume is load enough. The bass is perfect sound.

I wish i had bought these a long time ago instead of wired direct to a receiver. I have had big rain storms and they were just fine after that. color matched water fall rocks. Perfect blend. I love showin them off.

Easy to install and set up overall audio quality is good or better. Have been using these for the past 2+ weeks when they suddenly cut out and quit working. Tried resetting the Bluetooth connection (did not correct) then turned power off then back on (did not correct) then turned everything off and left it over night thinking I would have to take everything in for exchange.

Next day the system worked normally and for the past 3 days continues to work normally. I am hopeful that this was a glitch in the Bluetooth receiver but will continue to monitor. There are 11 months left on the factory warranty let’s hope the system survives a Midwest winter (unplugged of course).

Bought these just over a year ago & have been super happy with them. Super easy to set up & fantastic sound. A shout out to their customer service as well. They stopped working last week. I contacted AV Express explaining that I didn’t think the speakers were getting power (As the “power on” voice had stopped).

I had an email response the next day, and a new power cord 3 days after I sent the email. THAT is what I call excellent customer service! Speakers are back “Rok”ing the yard ;)!.

WE just moved into our new home in May. I bought these to enhance the enjoyment of our unground pool. Ran the wires under mulch, had the power supply under the awning of the pool house Everything Was great, until the first rain.

After the storm passed, about an hour, I went to skim some leaves out of the pool. Went to enjoy some Pink Floyd and nothing! Checked all the connections, which looked great. Got my multimeter and checked.

No power from the power supply. Outlet (GFI) was tripped. I got excited and reset it. Instant trip. Unplug and reset, perfect! Plugged the power supply back in and kit tripped instantly. Even after waiting a few days in the sun, nothing!.

I bought the outdoor speakers 3 years ago. They have worked flawlessly. This past summer a terrifying storm and high winds ripped my carport (where the speakers where mounted) off of the side of my house and it crumpled to the ground.

After a couple of months of clean up I was able to salvage the speakers. Luckily the speakers still work great, however the mounts were twisted beyond repair. I called customer service and they sent me a brand new pair of mounts with no charge.

I just received them yesterday. Wonderful, nice, friendly people with an outstanding product!.

My husband wanted outdoor bluetooth speakers that looked like rocks. After researching and looking at what seemed like hundreds of them, I am so glad I found these. Others were either way too over priced or seemed too cheap.

I think these were perfect in cost and exactly what we were looking for. We keep them outside in the backyard, we have had them for a couple weeks now. The only time the music skips slightly is when there are clouds rolling in but I think that’s due to the bluetooth and really has nothing to do with the speakers.

These are the best wireless speakers I have purchased to date. The previous version was similar using a transmitter hooked up to my receiver. That worked well but having Bluetooth capabilities is far superior.

Range insofar as my phone from the main speaker is not much more than 20 feet (30 if the distance is unimpeded) which is fine from my perspective. Volume is controlled from my smartphone and can crank very high with no loss in clarity or crispness.

I just wish I could find a pair of waterproof pouches to cover them with when not in use. Highly recommended product.

big surprises come in small packages. I love the fact that the two speakers can pair with each other and produce a very nice surround sound effect. the sound quality is excellent and for a small form factor speaker, the base actually packs quite a punch.

These speakers, coupled with my phone, are currently being used as my golf cart sound system. Very impressive product! I would recommend it to anyone who loves music on the go! a well deserved 5 stars.

I was very surprised, this speaker really puts out some volume for it’s size. With just enough bass to make music sound good. Fits in my putter pouch while I play disc golf, and on about 1/3rd volume, I can enjoy Deep Purple, Ozzy, and maiden clearly from 25 ft away.

Replaced 15 year old niles speaker which was part of a four speaker setup at pool. Old speaker was damaged by lawnmower. Added new speaker and was amazed by the quality of sound compared to other existing speakers.

Dont know if age has degraded other speakers or the new one is that much better Probably repack all speakers next summer.

Great sound, integrates well with my landscaping, waterfalls, and rocks in the backyard. I have 4 stereo zones (3 sets of Niles RS6’s, one set of Niles under-eve speakers), and have hard-wired Niles controllers to micro-adjust field balances between them when desired.

Using a Denon AVR-X3100 WiFi receiver controlled from my smart phone anywhere on the property, a Crown CDi 1000 amp for zone 2 (outside). Simply awesome field of sound, simple smart phone control of source, volume, pause, etc.

Sound output is good but not great for the price. I had two speakers by the pool and one blew in 2 1/2 years. I replaced with a different brand speaker (Klipsch) and the sound quality blows it away so I decided to replace the other one as well and use this speaker as a back up just in case I needed one.

The quality is pretty good for the price, these fellas are pretty fun. The cables are very short and will have to be spliced to some additional speaker cable, so make sure to get buried speaker cable.

This speaker at this price is good. I thought there would be better sound quality. But for the cost its good. If you want a secondary speaker for your system this is a good choice.

Sound quality and volume: This little system packs great sound and runs great with all the phones/tablets in my home. We’re a gadget familty, so we use various Android devices, including the HTC MyTouch 4G, Amaze 4G, Samsung Galaxy 3, Asus Transformer Prime, a couple of generic 7″ tablets), all them with the PlayerPro music app, along with a couple laptops and iPods.

This speaker has way better sound than any phone or tablet, and even better volume and quality than the JBL speakers on our Lenovo and the Altec Lansing speakers on our Asus laptops. I can’t believe how much bass I get while holding this thing.

The first few days I had it, a new song from our library would come on that sounded especially good and I’d run over to my wife to show how loud and clear it was. Control Buttons: As for the controls, I know the Rockout 2 is made to be iPhone compatible, since the Android OS allows apps to override the control scheme for headsets and microphones, compatibility with Android is more app dependent than phone dependent.

The volume buttons work with any setup, even my laptop. The play/pause, back, and forward buttons work with all our phones and tablets. I know PlayerPro can override all other headset controls and customize them.

The default settings on that app work great with this speaker. Even without the player control buttons working (like on a laptop), I just use the player itself and it’s still worth having on hand. Uses: So far, we’ve taken the Rockout 2 camping and hiking, protecting my phone inside the housing and using the little clip and bungee system on the back to hang it from a tree, my frame pack, the tent, and even strapped like a little backpack to our little girl as she played on the trail (great for keeping track of her without keeping too close an eye).

I strap it to my arm while doing chores and hang it from the back door handle while gardening. Earphones hurt after awhile and headphones isolate me from people around me, like my family, so this is great when I need more sound than the built-in speakers on my portable devices (which is pretty much always).

All around, this is a fantastic accessory to mobile media centers. Charging: I use this at fairly high volumes for hours a day and typically charge about once a week. I don’t know the exact run times, but so far I’ve never gotten to the point where I “needed” to charge and just plugg it into my phone’s USB charger (sweet!) whenever I remember to and it has worked for me.

That’s a fresh experience compared to all my other electronics where the first thing I have to do when I get to work or back home is plug it in. On our camping trip, we had the Rockout playing music and as the audio for a movie on our tablet for most of one night, then plugged it into a Nomad 7 the next morning and had it playing all day and into the next night without ever getting to the end of its charge.

One last thing about this speaker is that it looks and feels very robust and very cool. I’m pretty careful with my electronics, but some people in my family aren’t. Not only did it make it through a lot of abuse with a bunch of kids in the wilderness while camping, it protected my phone inside a pretty rugged housing.

I don’t care as much about looks either, but if my wife appreciates the looks of an electronic gadget enough to comment on it, you know it looks good. Now I just want to get another one so I can chain them together for double the sound.

The battery life is great and it took a bit longer than they say on the description (2 hours), but not more than 3 hours. The solar panel charges even at low sunlight, in any amount of daylight, the blue led on back flashes meaning it is charging while playing.

Sony does not allow charging while playing. The sound is not the loudest but very descent for a solar battery product and sometimes the Bluetooth can be touchy. The look is cool and the color I got is particularly futuristic (teal).

My only issue is that it is tight to do anything with the back sleeves (that the cord goes through), as they are very wide and awkwardly set. That’s why I’m giving it 4 stars, but otherwise a great product.

Got this about 4 days after I ordered regular shipping. Was impressed. Like other have stated when the plug in cord is moved around there can be some static or scratchy noise. Usually just occurs when getting it all set up and ready to go.

I haven’t taken it out yet in the field but it is small enough to pack on any backpacking trip and weighs minimal, was kind of hoping it would weigh less but it’s really not a big deal. Haven’t tested the battery life yet but for sound I don’t think you can find better for same price and size.

You don’t get a big bass sound but all around it is very respectable. Let’s be real no. One buys this for bass anyways. I do enjoy the fact it zippers apart and you can stuff your mp3 player or phone size related items into the zipper compartment.

They are visually really cool. The tiki light effect is kinda awesome. They are made very well. I love how they have a mounting hole on the bottom so you can connect them to a yard spike (thats sold separately, i made my own) to get that real tiki torch look.

you connect one to the bluetooth on your phone then the 2nd one connects to the first and gives that stereo like sound. BUT. The sound is crap. Its not terrible just not good. Rock, rap, and pop music sound flat and like its coming out of a metal can.

Jazz, oldies, and chill music sounds better but still seems like something is missing. I still like them enough to not return them but i got them on sale $40 for both.

This does not stay charged at all. even if the light isn’t used. you have to keep it plugged in, in order to use this. There is also a 30 day return window, which is terrible. Would definitely NOT recommend this product to anyone! I suppose we now have a product to use that has to stay plugged in all the time, which is pointless as a ‘wireless’ speaker.

I figured Best Buy would have made some type of exception as well, considering we haven’t even had this a month! The delivery on it was super late as well. Definitely not worth it!.

If you read the many MANY reviews posted about these you will notice they all sound very similar. Rarely varying subject matter- great sound, lots of compliments, and similar writing style- almost always three incomplete sentences (the beginning word is missing- like “the”).

It’s unfortunate that you can’t trust the reviews online ANYWHERE anymore. Or ever, actually. Just keep this in mind before purchasing, people.

I was kind of skeptical buying this thing, and boy, was I blown away by it. It’s an extremely easy to set up speaker, very easily portable, and not too heavy for the size. It is a bit bulky and oddly shaped for some situations, but it doesn’t often get in the way.

It has wonderfully crisp highs, and booming, rumbling lows. It feels very well built – not a single thing about it feels flimsy or cheaply made. The light on it is very bright, which is great so you don’t have to whip out the phone flashlight so see the controls! You can have more devices connected to it at once, through bluetooth, or aux, and also has a built-in FM radio.

Definitely worth every cent of the 80 bucks I spent on it. Cheers!.

Great Speaker A Bit Heavy But Good Quality Sound Is Great On Radio But Bluetooth Is Slightly Lower. Just Turn It Up A Bit And Your Fine ! It Has A Bass/Treble Adjustment That Is Nice Also,Along With A Nice Long Antenna For Radio Stations Both Options Were Not On Older Models And Comes With A Microphone Also If You Like That Kind Thing Also.

I Would Recommend The Monster Rockin’ Roller 3 If Your Looking For A Great Sounding Speaker !.

I Love this speaker has great bass and perfect sound ! Very loud and clear ! I’ve ben playing the speaker for hours and still is on full battery Its a great deal! I reccomend buying this speaker it’s worth every dollar.

Chose from a selection of gifts for the holidays from my employer. Charging went fine, pairing one to another went fine, and to my Android phone. Then they fell asleep (I had to step away). Upon re-start only “speaker 1” played audio.

Attempted to pair speakers again unsuccessfully. Speaker 1 slipped out of my hand, and hit our pavers and fractured. After that point I figured they were free and they sucked, so I saw how much more I could break them before throwing them in the trash within hours of charging.

They do break very easily, only use on grass, mattresses, puffy white clouds, and perhaps kittens (may not handle it though). Since they were free, I don’t care, and it probably the worst audio I would have owned (most other is Klipsch, some Polk) so no loss.

Don’t waste your own money on them, not worth a dime.

I bought these for my husband as a relatively inexpensive way to listen to music in the backyard before we renovate and install speakers. I didn’t have very high expectations for them but I was extremely pleased with the sound quality and volume! We listen to a little bit of everything music-wise and it’s all sounded good! If you’re on the fence just know that they’re worth it!.

I read most the reviews and thought well guess it would be a good purchase WRONG! Only thing good about these speakers are the covers and don’t soundtoo bad. Would be lucky to get 15 ft range on them or should I say one because both comes up on bluetooth both shows connected but ONLY the last ONE connected will play! Not only that charge don’t last long even if you turn them off! I wouldn’t recommend these not for that price!.

To my knowledge, this is the only solar, Bluetooth speaker pair on the market right now. So with that being said, its a great value considering its limitations. Its limitations are Bluetooth distance and speaker to speaker distance.

ION claims that the speakers have a range distance of 30′. This might be true in a controlled testing environment – but for household use I would say limit the distance to 20′ to be on the safe side.

Bluetooth range is hit or miss. sometimes its up to 40′ and sometimes its 15′. I would say if you keep your Bluetooth device within 20′ as well you’ll be in good shape. Out of the box, the speakers needed to be charged for approximately 15 hours.

The directions don’t tell you what flashing Red lights mean when you first charge the speakers. I still don’t know what they mean to be honest other than the flashing red light means that the battery was completely dead/drained.

Which is why it took over 15 hours for a complete charge. A complete charge is done when the flashing red light or the solid red light has gone away. Installation was super easy and the construction of the speakers themselves is top quality.

I don’t believe there will be any issues with the speakers breaking. The speakers excel most when its turned up really loud. When loud, you can hear the bass much better. At lower volume levels the speakers sound very “tweeter-ish”.

All and all this was a great purchase and worth the value paid even with its limitations.

I’m more than happy ! I ordered my Ion Keystones from BJ’s after happening upon them in my local store. I’d been looking for some outdoor, Bluetooth speakers for years. The Keystone speakers got here really fast (ordered Friday arrived on Tuesday) and reading reviews in the usual places got me a bit edgy.

They took MUCH longer to charge than 8 hours, over 24. Leave them plugged in until the red light under the on switch turns blue. Seems I got a good pair ! BJ’s had stopped offering them for a while but they are back online again.

Maybe ION rectified the issues. If so, grab a pair while they last ! I’ve only charged them once more after the initial charge (simply because it was cloudy), leaving them out to charge in the sun. I’ll top them off once in a while – battery “memory” and all.

They’ve handled at least 3 inches of rain in what we in NH call “spring” with no effect on the sound. The remote even got drenched but still works. (Put it in a zip-lock. ) The stereo is great ! Experiment with placement.

They talk to you when on and connected. There is “Mrs. Right” and “Ms. Lefty”. with a total of 80 watts max and they get loud enough to hurt one’s ears. I thought the bass may be a bit lacking but then a bass heavy track came on and the bass was clear and loud, no distortion.

(I’ll have to test them with Morphine. ) My swing music, which ranges from muscular, Big Bad Voodoo Daddies, to all acoustic, Ronnie Arbo with Daisy Mayhem, Cocktail Swing, sounds great. It is not “inside” sound so take that into account with the 4″ speakers and 1″ tweeters.

4 ½ stars would be my rating. If the battery issues have been worked out it’s hard to beat these Ion Keystone’s, for the price, you can’t beat them. No more toting a boom box, speakers, and CD’s to the pool after my 1 hour, hot, hilly, bike commute home, just my phone, and my friends.

I have been looking for some outdoor speakers for awhile have been discouraged my what I have seen. I didn’t want to have to deal with any wires and did not want to compromise sound quality. Well I found what I was looking for.

I can fill my backyard with real sound. They were easy to set up and aside from the usual quirks every so often one can expect with using a wireless signal they have been terrific. I have to admit I haven’t left them out overnight yet but they are so easy to take on and off the mount I really don’t mind.

The key is to fully charge these speakers right out of the box. Needless to say I am extremely satisfied.
