20 Best Outdoor Cat Litter Box (2022 Updated)

This is without a doubt the best littler box I’ve owned over 40 years of using litter boxes. Like many other cat parents, I was tiring of constantly sweeping up tracked litter from a regular box which happens even with a rug or mat in front.

I remembered a friend trying a top entry litter box years ago with success. This one looked attractive and since I also wanted to move the litter box to the bathroom, I decided to try this one. But how to do that since cat’s don’t like change? Well when it arrived I put it in it’s new location in the bathroom empty, Cats are curious so my kitty couldn’t resist exploring it by climbing in/out several times, After a couple of days I added litter–a new curiosity to kitty! I had washed the box before putting it down empty so now I added a bag of fresh litter, topping it off with a couple cups full of litter from his old box.

I didn’t completely block entry to his old box but put stuff near enough to make it harder to get to it than the new box. Before long I noticed he’d used the new box. At that point I took up the old box.

Neither of us have looked back. He seems to like climbing into the box and sometimes sits on it when mommie uses her potty or takes a shower! The opening is large enough to scoop out waste without taking off the top each time.

It is so much easier to scoop that I now take care of that chore every time he uses it. It comes with a cute matching scoop which hangs on the side of the box which I have facing the wall. So final points: very little, actually almost.

no litter outside box. It is attractive and doesn’t even look like a litter box. The one thing to note is that the first time the top is installed, one does have to manipulate it around some (it probably is not out of line if it is difficult).

Once manipulated into place the first time then when lifted to dump litter caught on top it goes back into place easily. Another thing to consider is that completely full of water it is heavy and hard to empty so when washing, just fill half full.

Many new objects have a breaking in period but I do not have one complaint or negative to offer about this litter box. I love it!.

I bought this litter box because my kitten started standing up when urinating, thus resulting in my needing to clean the wall every day. She’s totally healthy – no UTIs or bladder issues; it’s just a behavioral aspect that has recently developed.

I bought this litter box to solve the issue of urine on the wall and couldn’t be happier! The opening in the top entry provides enough breathability so that the odors don’t get trapped and Cleo is more inclined to use it.

I think Cleo appreciates the privacy this litter box provides as well. I haven’t had any issues with the top falling in as other buyers have described, but I also went with the product I thought would best hold a 6lb kitten.

The top is easy to remove and replace for scooping and cleaning. I also enjoy that the ridged top thoroughly catches the litter from Cleo’s paws. I have a litter mat underneath the box, but I’ve noticed a lot less on the mat in general since purchasing this litter box.

I wanted to upgrade the litter box in our living room to something that was more aesthetically pleasing, but still functional and affordable. Our cat is comfortable with hooded litter boxes and is fine with enclosed spaces, so we figured this was worth a shot.

It is well constructed; I didn’t have any issues with the pieces not fitting like some other reviewers. My 11lb tabby is comfortable getting in and out of this litter box, and just hanging out in it, but he definitely prefers his standard you-can-get-it-anywhere litter box with the attached hood.

He will still use this one so I don’t regret buying it. I think he would prefer something where he can sit upright anywhere in the box, not just in the hole where he can comfortably squat while doing his business.

This is the MEDIUM size, the additional height of the large size may have been better for him. The width and length work for him though.

Oh, I wish, wish I had read the reviews before I bought this litter box. I had purchased “Nature’s Miracle” items in the past and liked them, but this box? This box came with two stickers–one on the inside bottom of the box, and one on the outside by the opening.

The one inside? Impossible to remove. I have used everything: Vinegar and water, soap and water, rubbing alcohol, even peanut butter. Terrible, terrible sight, this is. I got so discouraged trying to remove the bottom inside sticker that I didn’t even try to get the one off on the outside of the box.

So here the box sits, with a sticker that constantly reminds me of how hideous the “Nature’s Miracle” sticker is/stickers are. I just now ordered a new box–and it’s cheaper. I hope I don’t have the same sticker disaster.

I would uncheck the box that asks if I recommend this item with this review, but the box won’t “uncheck. ” Seriously. Okay, enough about this box. Just want to let other folks know. Agh! I like Chewy.

com, and I did call and rant to a nice Customer Service Representative about this issue–asking her to to please let “Nature’s Miracle” know this is an issue with this box. No problem with Chewy. Just calling myself “CrankyPants” today as I’ve spent a good chunk of time this morning scraping and whining about a cat box.

Even the many warning reviews here did not adequately prepare me for the horror that is these stickers. There is, at least, some comedy to be found in spending hours trying to remove a sticker that specifically advertises this product’s non-stick surface.

I first scored the stickers, applied goo-gone for an hour, scraped, applied more goo-gone for another hour, and then scraped, scraped, scraped for about an hour until they were finally off, then washed the whole thing with soap and water multiple times to remove all the goo-gone.

The bottom sticker—the one that is actually important to remove—was the more recalcitrant of the two. Even if there were a non-stick coating underneath those godforsaken stickers (how could there have been?) it is surely gone now, given that I had to scrape it within an inch of its life.

Taking the place of the stickers are now a zillion little scratches in the plastic, perfect for trapping bacteria—hooray. Thankfully, it does appear to be large enough for my giant floofer of a cat. If your cat does not specifically need an XL litter box, save yourself some sanity and buy something else.

I like these Nature’s Miracle litter boxes. They’re large enough for my bigger kitties. This review is more for the shipping of the litter boxes. I ordered 2 of the corner litter boxes and 3 of the N.

M. rectangular litter boxes. The corner boxes were put in one shipping box each. And the rectangular litter boxes, 2 were placed in one shipping box and the third was placed in a separate shipping box.

Seriously Chewy?! Are you trying to waste shipping materials? You’re doing a good job at it if you are. I tried it out and ALL 5 boxes fit into one of the shipping boxes that the corner litter boxes were shipped in.

This is how they should have been shipped. Oh, and I checked the distribution center they all came from; they were all shipped from the same distribution center in Goodyear, Arizona. All shipped the same day/time.

You need the train your packaging and shipping employees better. Perhaps have them play Tetris to train them. [I have photos but this site isn’t letting me upload them for some reason].

Do not roll it completely upside down, as that sometimes causes the grate to come loose from the bottom. I’ve learned this from experience. Roll it nearly upside down, pound on the bottom to get the clumps loose, roll it back right side up and then a bit to the left to get the clean litter back into the main section.

I have three cats so need to clean the box at least twice a day. “Self-cleaning” is a bit of a misnomer, as it needs a little help from you–it “cleans itself” but only if you roll it over. In other words, it “scoops itself”.

So in that way I prefer this litter box to having to do the scooping myself. Scooping it yourself gets it cleaner than rolling it, but rolling is good enough for me and my cats. Pros: quick and easy to roll over and collect the clumps in the scoop; all you have to do is dump the scoop.

(Note that you need to bang on the bottom of it when it’s rolled over to get some of the clumps to let loose from the bottom. ) Generally keeps the smell inside the litter box. Some people have had trouble with the clips, but they all work well for me as long as you have the top and bottom lined up correctly.

Cons: the scoop is an inch shorter than it used to be for the large box, and therefore sometimes doesn’t collect the clumps at the back of the box, so I tip it slightly forward before completing the roll over.

Why did they shorten it an inch? My theory is that they wanted to manufacture just one size scoop for both the large and regular boxes, and if so, it’s a stupid decision for the large box.

I have a bad back and scooping litter is really hard on me. This box is a great concept, but a failure in its execution. I’d love for this company to work on these details and make their concept actually work well.

The “roll n clean” concept has 3 essential components: the grate, the hood, and the “poop drawer. ” But the grate doesn’t snap into place tightly, and every couple of rolls it comes out of place, requiring me to put on gloves and plunge my hands into dirty litter to reposition.

GROSS. Likewise the latches that secure the hood to the litterbox are difficult to fasten, and it seems only a matter of time before they break. And finally the poop drawer fits into its slot so poorly, you’d think it wasn’t made to go there.

Did they give me the right part? Yes, it’s just really shoddily made. This is where all the clumps of poop are going, and you don’t want it falling open and leaking (which it does, frequently). Again, if these components were improved it would be a great idea.

However, I will also add that my kittens come out of this box smelling poopy, even if they haven’t pooped. I think they are rubbing against the hood, which catches all the clumps when you roll it, and sometimes ends up with poop stuck to it.

This is very unpleasant. Maybe the hood should be higher and made of a nonstick material?.

I had high hopes for this litter box, but I’m disappointed. I watched a video first before buying it, and it seemed perfect. However, the material and design definitely needs improving. The plastic is too cheap, and the filter does not stay in place when rolling it over! If I only roll it a little more than half way, it works.

If I roll it over to get everything, the filter pops out and its a big mess. So I’m rolling it only as far as I can so that doesn’t happen, but I have to regular scoop out what doesn’t go into the bin.

I can’t believe the makers of this litter box didn’t make the filter snap in tightly. When I put the thing together and saw how loosely the filter fit in, I was concerned, but I thought that it must still work.

But no, I had to clean up a big mess. I did decide to experiment with how far over to roll it, like I mentioned. I was trying to find that video again so I could see how far they rolled it over. I really like the idea of this litter box, but they need to make it work better!.

As previous reports have mentioned, this litter box is an absolute mess. I used it while traveling for a month with my cat, and it was helpful during the actual travel portion — I could add a small amount of litter and fold up this ‘litter pan’ to carry in my backpack and pull out during layovers at the airport.

(Note: Doesn’t fit in a cat backpack/carrier, but was good for carrying in my own backpack. ) But for our 1-month stay at an AirBnB, it was a letdown. The walls are extremely flimsy and folded into the litter so that I was vacuuming/sweeping every day, and I still couldn’t keep the area clean.

Ultimately, I still need a travel-friendly litter box, so I think I’ll donate this one and try a fold-up travel litter box with sturdier walls next.

I don’t know what I was thinking. I purchased this in a pinch. This is hard to carry when I carry Pax in my backpack carrier that has no room for this travel litter pan and fresh litter for day travel.

I did consider the collapsible litterbox but that wouldn’t fit in my backpack pet carrier along with the fresh litter. There needs to be a better day travel system and a backpack pet carrier is nonnegotiable to reduce shoulder and back strain.

Otherwise this is ok if traveling overnight or more with a suitcase and once settled at one’s destination to be left at the location. Not for carrying around unless one is able to drive and have a car.

I bought this for my new rescue cat and have been using it as her second litter box. i wanted to get her used to it so we can travel one day, but haven’t actually used it on the road yet. i was worried she would reject it because the shelter said she has litter box issues and she really enjoys putting a back paw on the side of her hard-shelled litter box for leverage when she poos.

However, after I put a clump of her urine in this box, she used it the next day. she now regularly uses it to poop and pee. looking forward to traveling with it! oh, and it cleans off really easy. she got some poop on the side and it wiped off easy with a clorox wipe.

We have an older cat (Lew) who although his entire body is in the litter box, hangs his behind over the end and pees on the floor of our traditional litter boxes. Lew even manages to urinate between the lid and the bottom of a large domed box.

I observed him in action a couple times and decided to try these with a higher back. I particularly liked these because the front is lower and Lew has a few mobility issues from a youthful accident. This is the first week I have not had to clean cat urine off of the laundry room floor in a long time.

My new kitten loves my new corner litter box! In fact, even though she has a little bed in her new cat cage, she likes to sleep in this litter box! I put it in the corner of my Fresco Cat Cage. Works great and always looks shiny and clean.

Love that it is Made from FDA approved, pet safe plastic resin. Polished finish that is odor and stain resistant making it easy to clean. Those are the 2 reasons I bought it. Very easy to clean. Looks good in my cat cage and so far, has kept the litter inside the box very well.

And I love the price. Seems well made for such a reasonably priced box. And as a dual-purpose box, if you were to put a little cat bed inside it really also makes a nice cat bed.

I have 5 indoor cats and am constantly dealing with litter boxes. These are fantastic. There’s nothing I hate more than having to scrub out litter boxes. The liners are nothing short of miraculous. Two of my cats insist on clearing away the litter and peeing directly into an empty spot in the back corner.

It used to be that the pee would stick to the plastic and then crumble all over the place when I tried to scoop it away. With the liners, the pee just literally pops right off the sidewall. I bought my first ModKat box 3 months ago ( I now have 6!!) and I still haven’t had to change out the liner or the litter.

The liner looks as new as the day I bought it and I just have to add fresh litter to the box every few days. The litter has stayed clean and the dreaded pee crumbles are no more. The boxes are outrageously expensive, but as you can tell, I feel they will be worth it in the long run.

The amount of money I save on litter is huge (especially with 5 cats) because the litter stays clean longer. And the best part is that I will no longer have to scrub out 6 litter boxes every month in my bathtub.

(Gross) Just swap out the liner and I’m good to go. I know the liners are spendy as well, but so far they look like they will last much longer than I thought. All of my cats have claws and the liners seem impervious to their scratching.

I suspect I will be able to go 6 months on the liners without issue. I only have 2 small complaints – not really complaint, more of a suggestion… The scoop handles have empty spaces on the top, so when you are scooping, these spaces collect litter.

Then when you dump the scoop contents into a bag, the litter falls out of these little spaces which creates a bit of a mess. I don’t see the reason for these empty spaces other than to save on plastic.

If these empty spaces were on the bottom of the scoop and not on the top, the problem would be solved. Another little improvement to the box would be the lid. The design is great, but could use some tweaking.

When you tip the lid upward so you can get into the box for scooping, it’s sometimes difficult to get the lid positioned back into place. The little pivot points can be a little finicky – when you tip the lid back flat and try to slide it forward, either the front edge of the lid gets stuck under the frame edge or the little pivot points get out of alignment causing the lid to sit cockeyed.

I seem to fight with this about 50% of the time. Minor issues, but if fixed, would be an improvement. Otherwise, I love these boxes – they look great, my cats like them and they make my life a lot easier! Buy one and give it a try.

I own a Modkat Flip Litter Box, which I absolutely love! But recently, my doggo… a spunky, 2. 5 year old mini Aussie… has figured out that the litter box contains poopsie treats. And she can fit her head into the opening and help herself until she’s consumed all she can find.

I can’t seem to scoop fast enough. You can imagine, as a hooman owner, whose face is often kissed by this doggo, the utter disgust and terror such kisses bring after these snacks. :/ She had to be stopped! And a Modkat XL Top Entry Configurable Litter Box was the solution to my problem! Of course it had to be another Modkat.

They’re smartly designed, sleek, and remarkably durable. The liners are heavy duty and make changing litter as simple as dumping it into a bin and putting the liner back into the litter box. So easy! I’ll never use another litter box system again.

My kitty boy is only 6 months old and already very large, so it had to be the XL box. Additionally, I like the option of being able to switch back to front entry… if my doggo could ever be broken of this horrid habit.

Are Modkat litter boxes expensive? Well, you get what you pay for: a brilliantly engineered litter box, with consciously designed details, which will make owning a cat (and a dog like mine) a lot more manageable… and from a super respectable company.

I needed a top opening litter box because I just can’t keep my maltese (who is arguably smaller than the cat) out of the litter box without elaborately barricading it in a way she could still get in.

I was so so nervous to make the switch, fearing it would take her a few days to take to it – the instructions say to remove the old box entirely so I was terrified that meant she would find another location in my apartment to do her business.

I followed the directions exactly, as well as consulted another one that had similar but more detailed steps – lo and behold she figured it out within the hour. I chuckled to myself previously reading other people’s reviews about how smart their cats were to figure it out – “how silly!” I thought – but when I heard her scratching away in there, I understood immediately.

My cat is a genius, she is going to Harvard, she will cure cancer. It’s an awesome products and must be pretty intuitive for cats. My only issue, and it’s not Modkat’s fault, is that I opted for the XL because she’s just over 12 lbs and I was afraid the standard would be too small for her.

The XL truly is large – it’s a pretty big space taker for my small apartment. But I can see where it would be fantastic for larger cats – she has plenty of room to get in and out. Maybe one day once I’ve gotten some good use out of this one, I’ll try the smaller one and see if her tubby butt can get through.

I originally purchased this litter box along with the matching play pen 5 months ago; I’m purchasing this litter box again because the original one finally ripped after 5 months of regular use. This is a sturdy litter box that I had originally purchased to be used when we are travelling; I liked it so much, that we ended up using it as the primary litter box until it ripped.

It’s surprisingly tall and keeps litter inside; the inner lining is waterproof and very resistant to my kitten’s scratching. The walls are strong–so much so that my now 11 lb kitten could stand on the corner on all fours without it collapsing.

The best part is that I could throw it in the washer on delicate cycle without worrying that it would rip. It folds up nicely into a square, which was convenient during travel.

Yes, it is super easy to take it every where with you, it folds and snaps shut with snap buttons. Easy to clean with soap and water. However, I am disappointed that you can’t snap it closed with kitty litter in it.

The “box” is made of water proof fabric with an inside lining of durable plastic. This makes it hard to move around with the “box”. Because it is soft, picking it up will cause it to droop or collapse and spill the litter out.

Hard to move it from your vehicle into the hotel or house. It should have had a fabric zipper top that could have been zip closed to keep the litter in when moving it around. This way you don’t have to carry a store bought box of litter to hold and carry the litter in until you can add it to the soft-side “box”.

I’m thinking a large Tupperware container would be easier to travel with.

I got this litter box because we were planning a 13 hour trip and we wanted to take our cat with us. It was our first time taking her and we really didn’t know what to expect. It was a bit small for YoYo.

About an hour into our trip while we were on the interstate, the smell made it obvious she had used it and we had to pull over to scoop so we didn’t smell poo the rest of the drive. Unfortunately when I got in the backseat to scoop it, not all had made it into the box.

I’m honestly not sure whether the size of box was at fault or if we maybe hit a bump while she was going, but we’ve learned to probably just use a full size box when traveling if possible. I think this size would probably be better suited for a kitten rather than a grown cat.

If she had actually gotten it all into the box, it would have been perfect for our needs. Unfortunately, that rental car will never be the same.

The PetSafe® Multi-Cat Litter Box is a very good quality litter box that is absolutely perfect for a home with multiple cats. The main litter area is deep enough to ensure that cats have a harder time kicking out the litter and the area is definitely big enough to ensure that you don’t need to scoop every five minutes (once or twice a day is fine).

The box has enough weight to ensure it doesn’t tip over should you have a cat that likes to stand on the edge when using the bathroom. and the material used helps to prevent the litter from sticking.

I really like the provided scoop, great quality, metal and a good size to assist with scooping. The product is made from extremely good quality materials, is easy to keep clean and just makes the whole litter cleaning experience a little easier as everything you need is right there, This is a product that I thoroughly recommend to others and I will be replacing the other litter box in our house with another one of these.

Over the years, we’ve been through a lot of different litter boxes and it can be more difficult than you think to find one that is agreeable to both cats and their humans. PetSafe has done their homework with this multi-cat litter box.

It seems like a simple idea to have contained locations for the scoop and the waste you scoop, but to get that done before, I’ve had to buy multiple products which makes the litter area look cluttered.

This litter box helps contain the mess and the odor in one neat design. The box is large enough so my cats do not feel confined using it. The sides are tall enough to keep escaping litter to a minimum, yet not so tall that it’s hard for my cats to get in and out.

For humans, the two compartments on the end are perfection. They take up minimal space, but provide just the things I’m looking for – a place to store the litter scoop that isn’t out in the open and a place to keep the litter box scoopings for a few days so I am not wasting garbage bags each time I scoop.

You can easily line each of the two sections with a small plastic trash bag – I have one for the scoop side and one for the litter side and I change them out as needed. The magnetic lid does a good job keeping the odor in.

The storage section slips on and off easily so I can sanitize it regularly to keep everything fresh. It is sturdy without being overly heavy so it’s easy for me to move around. This has been a big success in my 2-cat household and I will be buying a couple more.

First thoughts when opening the box, this thing is huge! I had to re-think my litterbox location because currently my cats were using a much smaller top-entry box. Mocha and Fuzzly are really enjoying it though.

They do everything together and can literally go at the same time now, and Fuzz is on the very healthy side of the weight spectrum! It holds a very good amount of litter, I prefer that because it’s less of a chance waste gets stuck at the bottom.

It comes with a very durable, metal scooper. It’s the best. One of my cats insist on peeing in the exact same spot every time, I’ve broken scoopers with the heavy clumps of urine I remove. The compartment added to the box is handy at holding bags for scooping, waste and really any other little litter accessories.

I personally don’t use it to hold waste because I prefer to go ahead and take that to the outdoor trash. I am pleased the cats are happy! I have one that can be litterbox picky and the other, well I just think she’s spiteful and resist changes all cost.

(haha) I do feel like it’s hard to get a good grip on it to carry when I need to do a full clean out but that’s not too often. If you have a place big enough for it, it’s definitely a great choice for multiple cats.

My cat is an “enthusiastic digger” and the high sides contain her action! Hurrah! The rounded shape is easy for her to turn around in and easy to clean. The depth of it also allows 6 “ of litter bedding and this works great! the bottom never gets soiled using lightweight litter and the box smells brand new after 3 weeks.

(Cleaned daily. ) I took the lid off as I was uncertain she would buy into the top entry but we may try it after a month. She took to this box immediately without the lid and I don’t think it will be necessary.

This little box has a medium size footprint and works great in my bathroom. (Deep bedding = no smell. ).

We purchased this for our 6 month old kitten, who travels with us and does quite a few day trips. He took to it immediately we used his same litter and left it out where he could access it in his own time, no pressure.

Now it’s in our car where he uses it whenever we go. It’s easy to clean, scoop holder attached and zip up until we need it again. FYI dog poop bags make disposing of waste a breeze. Great purchase.

I really enjoy being able to carry my kitten with us. The backpack has lots of compartments so you can carry what you need. I also like that the bungees inside can clip onto her harness. I bought the harness from you also.

I haven’t had a chance to use the litter box yet. When I undid it and tried to put it back together the snap broke so I will have to use something else to secure it when folded.

It has just arrived and i love it so much. It can fold and become so small, it doesnt take any space when is empty, you can fold it and fits averywhere. I have not tried it yet with sand inside so i have not seen if it slips but is a life saver not having to carry my plastic litter box, the very best invent! Thank you for your amazing ideas!!! Cant wait to use it!!! Oh yes, and the size is just perfect for large cats 👌.

This litter box (what we use it for) looks great and is fairly easy to clean. We took the little door off. It does come with a tiny scoop. Price is high but it had the look we wanted. If price was lower, we would likely get a few more (we have 4 cats).

I hate reviews like this, but I think if done correctly they can maybe help people kind of understand challenges that they might face or situations that they might not have thought of. Before we get any further, if you have more than one cat this system will both cost more and be more work than just a regular clay litter system.

I say this because the only way to make it where you’re not replacing the cat pads every 2-3 days is by having more than one litter box which just doesn’t add up to being a positive investment because now you have to also buy double of everything.

Chronologically, my issues came up as so: 1. TL;DR This will be a continuous training effort that will probably just never stick. TBH, I have one fairly new cat and they just straight up prefer the clay litter.

The instructions say that if you let the cat litter box get dirty enough they’ll prefer the cleaner breeze option, but that just never seemed to really work. And then, after I even threw out the old cat litter box because it had already been about a month my newest cat decided that he would just rather use the restroom wherever he pleased if there were no clay litter box.

2. I guess my cats poop is just really stinky because basically nothing would get rid of the horrible smell. I even tried the extra strength pellets, but at some point I would just get a whiff of cat poo.

I think the biggest issue is that in some cases the pellets just don’t have that same coverage ability so there’s really no way to stop odors from coming out. I think the solution to this is probably inferred to be that you need to get rid of the poop immediately, but I work long hours so that’s just not possible.

I’m not going to sit there and wait / watch for when my cat poo. 3. The cat pads were actually a pretty stellar thing; however, the cost ratio just doesn’t work. I think it works for the one cat situation, but even then it seems like as if I would of had to replace my cat pads every two days to really keep that area clean.

Overall, I like the idea of this product. However, for my specific situation outlined in the examples above, this product did not meet expectations and also caused a lot more hassle.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. I was worried it was overhyped/just marketing, but this is fantastic and absolutely lives up to the marketing. My room, the area around the litter box, and my cat herself have never been cleaner.

My cat tracks litter EVERYWHERE, and with this box I clean up little pellets maybe once a week (instead of multiple times a day) and it’s so much easier to clean. My cat has kidney issues and drinks a lot of water, so I change the pad on the bottom more frequently than once a week, but it’s the easiest thing ever to clean.

I don’t dread cleaning at all, it almost makes me pleased to think about how easy and quick it is to clean. The parts all work well together and I haven’t had any issues, and it’s simple to put together and take apart when I want to do a deep clean.

The plastic is treated with some kind of waterproofing, so even if there are any leaks (which there haven’t been), it wouldn’t make the whole box smell terrible forever. I do find that to fill up the box to my cat’s satisfaction, I use about double the recommended 3.

5lbs, but the bigger bags are cheaper anyway. I did the math and for me the pads and pellets are cheaper than what I was spending on litter before, but even if they weren’t, it would be worth the extra cost.

My cat had no trouble whatsoever adjusting to the new box. My one warning: if you have a very old cat and/or one with mobility issues, make sure to check the height. It’s lower than a standard stair step, but is definitely a bit more raised than a standard litter box.

Design-wise, there is also a lip on the entrance side of the box that gets in the way of her moving around inside the box a little bit sometimes, I think that could be removed/sized down or adjusted, but it has not been a significant issue in any way.

I don’t know why anyone with a cat isn’t using this system already. Seriously, if you’re thinking about it, or even if you’re not, put it in your cart immediately. You will not regret it!.

*The litter is actually low dust, so I no longer sneeze ever time I have to scoop litter. Clay litter always had enough dust to aggravate my asthma or make me sneeze when I worked around the box. Not to mention the weird natural clay smell that clay litters have and don’t get me started on how bad scented clay litters would stick in my nose.

The Breeze pellets do have a faint scent, kind of like a bag of driveway/garden gravel or sand for a sand box. I only notice it when I’m scooping/changing pellets. *This box saves so much time! Since urine flows through the pellets to the pad below, all you have to scoop is poo.

This means I can shift the litter in just a scoop or two, which is a huge game changer when you have to keep an eye on your kids (mine is 1). The pad is quick and easy to change when needed every 3-7 days (depending how many cats you have).

*The litter is actually no track! My Breeze litter box is in an awkward tight space in the back corner besides the couch, because my kitten decided that was a great place to do her business during litter training when she was really young.

Since we have a multi level home, we had decided that maybe she needed a box on each story of the house as is suggested (wasn’t a problem for my previous cat). Well, as you may’ve guessed it’s not easy to vacuum tracked clay litter out of the carpet in such a tight and awkward space.

The Breeze has saved me quite a headache, because the pellets don’t track and aren’t easily kicked out of the pan. My cat isn’t a heavy litter kicker to begin with but always had a mess of clay litter around her old box, but now I just have the occasional pellet to pick off the floor n’ toss back in the box.

So another example of how this box will save you maintenance time. *Does control odor! As mentioned my Breeze sits next to my couch, but my guests can’t smell it, even while sitting on the couch side that’s right next to it! The pads do a great job of locking in urine odor and the pungent, burning smell of urine has always been the worst part of cleaning a traditional litter box for me.

The pads are very absorbent; never had an issue with urine soaking through them or going around it in the tray. The pellets do seem to dry pretty fast as well (I do lightly stir mine daily), so I haven’t noticed any lingering ammonia smell on/in the pellets, which is awesome! Traditional clumping litters would always have tiny, impossible to scoop, bits of urine soaked clay that would mix throughout the box and make the whole thing always smell.

To me that’s what always left a traditional litter box smelling, not the BM. That brings me to the Breeze and how it handles the solid waste. It doesn’t hide the odor at all, not that I felt any of my unscented clay or wheat/corn pellet litters ever did much to hide it either.

The Breeze pellets, however, I feel do indeed dry it out faster as it’s advertised. This means it doesn’t smell fresh for as long. I just scoop the box once a day, as is the recommendation with any type of litter or box and as I mentioned I can fool guests into thinking I don’t have a cat unless they see her because they don’t smell her box anymore.

I think the bag of pellets will actually last longer than a month since they’ve been drying nicely and not many stick to the solids. *As far as quality goes, the plastic feels pretty average for a litter box.

The plastic on one side of my box was slightly warped, so it did take some extra effort to get the white guard to line up with it and snap onto the green box properly. However, the guard isn’t something that should ever need removed and put back on, so no big deal.

The guard does have a recessed groove so it sits down over the rim of the litter pan on both the inside and outside. This means there’s no seam where a cat may pee out through, which is a common issue with other guarded/hooded regular litter boxes, especially for male cats.

The tray underneath does slide smoothly straight out/in; be careful not to twist or jam it by opening/closing it at an angle as I think over time the tray would warp if you did that a lot. I do want to talk about the litter scoop a moment.

I absolutely love that it hangs off the back of the guard, so I don’t have to worry about spreading bacteria to surfaces around the litter box and I always know where it it (no more moving around stuff to figure out where I put the scoop this time).

*My kitten took to the box pretty quickly. I put it exactly where 1 of her traditional boxes where so she already knew that the box was in X spot. I didn’t have to mix her old litter in or anything and she hasn’t ever used a pelleted litter before.

She does scratch around in it a lot after going, like she’s frustrated that she can’t bury her business even though she’s never been great about bury it in her old clay litter. She wouldn’t do a #2 in it at first, but seems to be getting more use to it by the day (only had it 2 weeks as of this review) and now uses it fully.

I plan to buy another one to replace the remaining traditional clay litter box that’s upstairs too. *Overall, I feel that the quicker regular maintenance of the box and no longer needing to constantly vacuum around the litter box, combined with it’s level of odor control is worth the extra money spent monthly on the special litter and the pads.

If you need to save some cash look into washable fabric absorbent puppy training pads that are small for use in carries or I’ve heard the system works well to sift out crumpled wheat/corn pellet bedding when you stir the litter.

Odor control will be best using the Breeze products designed for it though. May not be economical for a house with more than 2-3 cats, however, the Breeze is cheaper than similar litter systems and easier to find refills for too.

I bought this litterbox for my guinea pig to try to contain some of his poops, and it is perfect for him. The shield helps contain his hay, so there is less mess, and it’s just the right size for him to sit in and munch.

He’s even fallen asleep in it! I also like the rectangular shape, since most small animal litterboxes are triangular and really don’t work very well. I would warn rabbit owners that it isn’t going to be big enough for any but the very smallest of rabbits; my pig is just under 2 pounds and it’s just the right size for him.

I recommend just getting a cat sized litterbox for rabbits – I have a 5lb rabbit and use the Van Ness high sided cat litterbox, which Chewy also sells. But for guinea pigs, rats, or maybe one small dwarf rabbit, this is the perfect litterbox!.

Not sure if it is because the same brand, it fits in Oxbow Enriched Life Small Animal Cage with Play Yard X-Large perfectly. I brought the cage two+ years ago with the pigs and they out grown it, now the cage is their kitchen area and the corners are ‘popular’ bathroom spot.

With the little pan I can clean the corners more frequent than the rest of the cage. I see no review have a reference for the size so I took some picture with adult guinea pigs for scale. If you want to put the hay inside of the little pan this maybe not enough space, may want to consider their rectangle one.

I was struggling to find a litter pan that would fit in my bunny’s new house-like hutch. This fits PERFECTLY! I love the shield to prevent sprays on my walls. Cleans up like a breeze. Rubber feet on the underside prevent the pan from moving.

Note: this is a SMALL pan. My bunny is 5 pounds and it would not accommodate a much larger bunny. I purchased two to facilitate quick swap outs.

The things I used to do to keep the pee from going all over the wall and floor when my cats would pee out over the top of the boxes was so time consuming. This litter pan solved that issue. And I like this litter box very much.

Yet it isn’t perfect. It definitely needs to be longer. My cats don’t fit in it without either their head or their backside sticking out the opening. They don’t seem to mind. But unfortunately when it’s their backside, the pee and/or poop ends up on the floor.

And last week my robot vacuum was ruined because of this. One of the cats used the pan and the poop fell on the floor. Obviously I didn’t realize it. The vacuum ran right through it, not only smearing it around the entire room before I realized what happened, but also ruining the vacuum.

I’m not sure if only making the box longer would solve this for sure, but if the front opening was just a little higher I believe that would. If it wasn’t for these 2 issues, I’d replace all my boxes with this one.

The height on this is very good, the previous litter box I purchased had a max height of 11″ and wasn’t high enough for my cat (I’m still trying to get the odor out from a concrete floor in the bathroom nook where her box is located).

While the height is great, the leg room (listed at 17. 3″ but in reality is 15″) is too small for my 12 lb cat. Previously I used to make her litter boxes from storage containers — a real chore, however, very functional.

She liked the extra space, walking around and circling for the perfect spot to do her business. So far she’s using this new box but I do wish there was more leg room. I also covered the opening (handle) in the back with waterproof tape (suggested by another reviewer) and thank goodness I did because that is where some of the pee ended up when she used that side of the box.

The other handle at the front is a bit of pain when I need to daily scoop, it gets in the way. It would be better if that handle wasn’t there and instead have a beveled edge all around the litter box to facilitate lifting.

I previously used to make her box from storage containers (a laborious job), however, there was ample height and space for kitty to move and circle around the box to find the perfect spot to do her business.

Why can’t a cat litter box manufacturer just use the high sided storage containers as a model for a litter box, with the front part cut appropriately for entry (instead of DIY boxes that have to be either sawed or melted down)? No doubt this would be a real money maker because I’ve read there are enough people who would need that kind of box for their high sided urinator kitties.

Maybe I should go into business and do that myself and make a bunch of money. 😀 Yes, I recommend this because it’s the highest side available but paltry leg room.

I have 3 cats, each with a different litter box-related problem. The high-pee-er (cat #1) stands up when he pees, rendering most litter boxes useless, even ones that claim to be high-sided. Most hooded litter boxes are also useless for him, because the seam between the bottom and top of the box is too low, causing urine to leak through onto the floor.

So I attempted using top-entry litter boxes, however, my big cat (cat #2) needs a large space to do his business, and cannot use a top-entry litter box because of arthritis. The small cat (cat #3) is very finicky and flat out refuses to use a top-entry litter box.

The Frisco Leaf High-Sided Large litter box meets everyone’s needs/preferences. It’s high enough to contain the high-pee-er, large enough for the big cat, and is front-entry for the small finicky cat.

It has a flat bottom and rounded corners so it is easy to scoop. It’s relatively lightweight and somewhat flexible, so it’s easy to take outside to hose down. It is sturdy enough to stand up to cat claws.

It’s affordable. It doesn’t solve the litter scatter problem that plagues every cat owner, but I manage that using a rubber litter mat and low-tracking litter. The only improvement I would make to this box is to sell/include an optional lid to set on top to help hide the ugly litter and help contain dust.

Overall, I’m very happy with this litter box and would definitely recommend them. If Frisco ever sells a lid, I will buy it.

For background, I am cat owner for over 40 years and I have been a part time professional pet sitter, cat foster parent and shelter volunteer (5 years of shelter volunteer) for the past 30 of those. I have encountered a multitude of different cat litter boxes from automatic to manual, super fancy expensive ones to soda cartons and deep paper bowls.

It is large enough. The hood opening and height of the inside are large enough for my largest 15+ pound cat. It holds ample litter. There is a problem that irks me. The oval shape means that most of the time I have to chase the clumps around to shove them against the back.

Oval is pretty and fits in more places than a square but it also is mildly harder to scoop. The lid lifting up is great for being able to clean easily without fighting the entire lid because I despise removing and replacing lids that flex and require patience to fit properly.

I don’t care about the carbon filter in the lid or being able to purchase replacements. I don’t believe that these are worthwhile and they only give an illusion of really doing anything. A real air purifier and plain unscented litter or unscented crystals will take care of any odors that arise.

It’s a litter box. Keep it clean, including scrubbing it out once a week and it will stay as odor free as possible. If you must have a carbon filter, purchase the black carbon filter material from an air purifier replacement and cut to fit.

You will have the size and thickness you are seeking. Yes they should make and sell replacements, but if they don’t, get creative on your own instead of grumbling. A few minutes of time will get you a better filter than you can purchase.

If it is leaking on the edges, line it, and pull the liner up and over the edges. Better yet, do what I do and purchase a wire crate tray to put under the litter box. Any accidents will land on the tray where you can clean them up more easily while protecting your carpet.

Your cat being a wall washer when they urinate vs a squatter is not the litter box designers issues, it is yours. Buy a different box without a lid gap, line it with pee pads or check the internet for another creative answer instead of casting blame.

We got this covered pan a few years ago. This pan USES JUMBO SIZE LITTER PAN LINERS & can use any type of litter (we use Crystal Litter). USES MORE LITTER than most pans BECAUSE PAN is LARGER size. This pan is PERFECT FOR LARGE CATS, we were using it for a MAIN COON SIZED CAT (22 pounds) that we fostered; high back great for those cats that urinate high up in the pan & helps with decreasing litter outside the pan.

This is NOT A GOOD CHOICE FOR SENIOR CATS WITH ARTHRITIS or other PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS because it has a HIGH FRONT ENTRANCE. Our 14 year old old cat (10 pounds) with arthritis could not get in & out of this pan; she had a low entry pan which always had some litter tossed out because she was a very enthusiastic digger.

Yes, our babies are spoiled & we will do anything for them.

The litter box is roomy and has a nice wide door entrance. My cats range in weight from 6 lbs to 15 lbs. and there is plenty of room for the large cats to turn around and use the box. I found the construction to be good and didn’t feel it was cheaply made or flimsy like some reviewers said.

The easy-clean access door is really nice as you don’t have to take the top off to scoop. The sticker came off easily and I really don’t care if Natures Miracle wants to put their red logo on it or not.

Actually, if I wanted to order another one (which I will probably do in the future), it will help me remember what company made it. My only complaint would be that I thought it was a bit overpriced, but the 20% discount that was offered made a fair adjustment on the price.

I have NEVER had a problem with Chewy not making good on any product I have purchased that was defective or didn’t meet my expectations.

This is the WORST litter box I’ve ever owned and I’ve tried many. The top design is fine; the high edges for less litter to be tossed out, fine. But the real issue I have with this is the bottom half.

It’s not flat or flush on the bottom, it has cut-out type dips along the bottom of the box- and what this causes to happen to the mounds of cat urine: the “clumping” litter breaks apart, which makes the litter smell AWFUL.

The point of clumping litter is to stay clumped for easy scooping. But because of this inefficient design, it causes these clumps to break apart, they’re not easy to scoop up so you’re left with a bunch of small, unscoopable bits of cat urine etc.

that linger in the box. I use Worlds Best Cat Litter which has never given me dirty-litter box smell until I had this litter box. Worlds Best litter can last a month without needing changed out, it barely lasts a week with this litter box! This litter box is now in the trash and I am back to my covered one.

Don’t waste your money on this like i did thinking it’s a good, inexpensive box. It’s not the one.

I have ordered 2 of these as I have 2 cats. At first they were hesitant to use and took a little coordination for them to learn how to properly bury their poop as these walls are much taller so they couldn’t get to the side of it.

The only thing I am not a big fan about is the indentation of the bottom of the plastic box. My cats LOVE to do their business in the corners and I do NOT use liners. So I realized that for some reason whoever designed the plastic box there is a rim indentation on the bottom of it and because of that in the corner you have to make sure you scrape it all up from the bottom of it that got stuck there.

I got used to it now and I showed it to my kids (this is their chores! LOL) how to properly clean it there, but in my opinion that was an unnecessary design feature. Overall, I love it and the cats not doing much mess anymore because of the tall walls around it :).

I really like the deeper box. I bought this as an additional box but both cats seem to prefer this one with the open top. It’s certainly more convenient for me in that I don’t have to remove the cover to clean the box and occasionally deodorize the top.

The thing I don’t like is the flimsy scoop with slots too large which lets small pieces fall through. I threw it away as it wasn’t efficient. I didn’t deduct a star because the box itself is just fine.

I would have been completely satisfied if it came with a better scoop. Whoever designed that scoop obviously never cleaned a litter box. More on the job training is recommended for the designer.

The female cat I inherited pees standing up. She had a hooded litter box, but pee would still seep between the hood and the box, dripping on the floor. So each time I cleaned the litter box, I had to clean the floor as well.

This top-entry litter box seemed like a good solution, though I was not sure she would take to it, as she is a senior, and is 17 pounds. She was hesitant to get in at first, and she would jump out frantically, unlatching the cover, which does not seem to lock in place securely.

I removed the cover and just situated a low box beside to ease her entry into the litter box. Now the set up is perfect. My floor is not wet with pee, my cat has gotten used to getting in and out.

The holes for the litter to fall into don’t really keep the cats from tracking litter all over on their way out (at least not for mine), and it’s a little hard to clean thoroughly given it’s shape and size – a little unwieldy – but my cats LOVE it so it’s worth it.

We have 3 cats and 3 different kinds of litter boxes and this is the one that gets the most use by far.

I originally found this litter box decades ago and have loved it ever since. Throughout the years, it has been used by many cats of all ages, from kittens to our current cat that’s 21 years old. ————— I originally bought it to reduce the amount of litter that was being tracked onto the floor (we use a non-clumping clay litter).

I was instantly pleased with how well this litter box worked and has continued to work ever since. It has all but eliminated the litter on our floor. ————— One of the things I like best about this litter box is its durability.

It’s made out of a rubbery plastic material that has never cracked or bowed, the lid has always fit well, and it continues to look great. I love that there are no clips to break. Every few years, I give it a thorough scrubbing with Bar Keepers Friend, brushes, and a magic eraser, and aside from a few dings here and there, it looks like new all over again.

Thick 3 mil 42 gallon trash bags work well as liners which are much stronger against digging claws, saves money, and eliminates the dependency of needing special brand name liners. ————— There is a warning to not use this litter box with elderly cats.

I didn’t know this and just kept using it as our current cat got older. I have offered her other litter boxes with easier entries, but she refuses to use them. She can still jump onto chairs and couches without effort which probably helps.

For many years, she has used a Rubbermaid step stool that I store next to the litter box which may also help. I will continue to monitor how easily she can get in and out and will switch to something else if needed.

————— I recommend this litter box very highly. It greatly reduces the amount of litter that gets tracked onto the floor, prevents urine from getting sprayed out the side entry or leaking along the seams of a domed lid style litter box, has no clips to attach the lid that can break, is extremely durable, and cleans up very well.

This is truly the last litter box you’ll ever need to buy.

When I adopted Feliks in Oct. 2021, I have had a “devil of a time” finding the right litter box. He is a “digger & a thrower”. I had a hooded litter box- he threw the litter out the door – I obtained a high entry litter box – he still managed to throw it out the door.

All I was doing was sweeping up litter all of the time. I was exasperated as to what to do. I finally tried this Top-Entry Litter Box and the problem has been solved! He took to it right away. I set a low child size wood chair next to it in case he felt it was too high.

I have very little litter mess – it’s on the large mat underneath the litterbox (where it should be) and not all over the floor. It is a bit difficult to clean because it is big & deep – I take it out in the yard and use the garden hose or clean it with disinfecting wipes.

I’m just happy that the problem is resolved!.

I have a cat who. likes to be unnecessary when it comes to covering waste. Everyday used to be like clean up after a day at the beach. Since this thing, he can build sand castles, dig to China, I don’t care what cause I wouldn’t know the difference.

It doesn’t contain every bit of scatter – they do have to get out of the box, but is absolutely worth the money and is excellent quality. Could be a bit bigger but that is inconsequential to the overall value of what this purchase is providing.

My cats adapted surprisingly quick – and seemed to prefer it at times over their traditional box. Transitioning was literally nothing. no accidents or confusion. Seems like it’d be a good size to accommodate most spaces too.

If you have an overly zealous feline that enthusiastically goes for a home run over the outfield, chances are the litter piles up past the bleachers and into VIP areas reserved for humans. Litter should be in the box, all the time, no exceptions.

Short of building retaining walls around the areas where it flies over the sides of the box, there’s only one way to deal with it, and that’s to cover up the box. Even with the lid on, my once-feral male manages to fling it out the door.

But I don’t know how I’d handle it if it weren’t for this extra large, extra deep, nicely constructed, covered box. The top fits the bottom as it should. No struggles getting it on or off, and I just flip it off to clean the box.

Takes two seconds. There’s a nice charcoal filter pad in the top that’s easy to replace and/or clean. The box is easy to scoop out and easy to wash out. It’s big enough for a big guy – even an exuberant one.

I’ve just purchased the third one for my third feral feline. They’ve all adapted to it immediately. Whether their natural affinity for boxes, or just liking the privacy, they all take to it right away.

I’ve never had a problem with them looking elsewhere (knock on the proverbial wood). So yes, this box gets an enthusiastic 10. I do recommend it.

I love this box. It has a large opening, deep bottom tray, high ceiling and fits perfectly in a corner. My 16 year old cat had a rectangular not covered catbox for the 7 years since I adopted him. When I set this up, he looked it over wondering “what the heck”, then began using it right away with no issue.

For those having issues with the labels. They are stupid sticky and HUGE which the company should definitely change. However the best way to get it all off is to put “Goo Gone” (don’t use Goof Off it will damage the plastic).

I covered the labels and let them sit for 30 min. Came back and used a thin plastic scraper (the kind for cast iron, but a plastic putty knife would work). I got off what I could, sprayed again and left it again.

Came back, got the rest off, then used a paper towel with Goo Gone on it to make sure there was no adhesive left. Then washed with soap and water. It worked perfectly and didn’t take any time at all, since I let it soak and went to do other things.

I’m going to cut a triangular shape piece of wood, get some hairpin legs, and some cool mid century cat fabric and make a midmod looking table to conceal the catbox, give him more privacy, and a place to jump up to.
