13 Best Outdoor Double Sided Tape (2022 Updated)

I bought this to attach a small dash cam on my front window. I thought that it would work as it is rated for 30 lbs and the camera weighs only a few ounces. What I failed to take into account was the heat in direct sunlight.

After only a week, my camera was pointing at my feet. This tape may be good for other applications, but it does not work in direct sunlight.

I was so excited to find this tape. I had been looking for a way to secure a ceramic decoration to the outside of my house. I weighed it to be sure it was well within the limits of the tape and used 2 strips of the tape to secure it to the house.

It looked beautiful! Two days later my friend came to visit and found the decoration in pieces on my driveway. The tape was still stuck to the decoration. Fortunately, the decoration had not cost me that much (although I loved it and don’t know when I’ll find something else I like to replace it) and Office Max refunded me for the tape.

I live in the Phoenix area and it gets super hot, but there was nothing on the packaging saying there was a heat limit. Some other tapes did specify a limit, so, of course, I didn’t buy them. I am very disappointed to have lost the ceramic piece, and to have to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to hang decorations on my house in the future.

I used this to replace a magnetic latch in a plastic mailbox. Now my mom complains that the door is hard to pull open. I’ll address this with some sort of cover over the magnet to weaken it. I have also used this tape to attach numbers to a metal mailbox.

The box was replaced years later but the number were still holding strong.

This literally cannot hang a camera that is not even a pound. I’ve tried everything. Followed the intrucstions as written. Cleaned both surfaces, taped vertically, had it on a flat surface, held it down for 2 minutes.

Within 10 minutes it dropped the whole thing fell. CARPET TAPE HOLDS BETTER THEN THIS. I have some off brand carpet tape that literally holds all my cameras inside and out better then this. I had to use it because this stuff literally didn’t work.

Do not buy! I even tried hanging it with duct tape holding the sides of the camera just to see if it was the actual surface rather then the tape. The tape fell and the off brand duct tape had everything hanging in place because this tape is literally garbage.

Really really disappointed in this product.

Bought this because I had just flown in to San Antonio to pick up a used truck to drive home to El Paso. As soon as I touched the rearview mirror, it fell off the windshield, which was severely cracked and had a few starburst cracks too.

My intent was to replace the windshield once I got home so I could either invest in a kit to reinstall the mirror, or use a small amount of this Gorilla Glue Mounting Tape, which cost $2 more. I opted for the GGMT, since I would have plenty left over for other uses.

I cleaned the surface, attached a 1″ piece, pressed firmly, and held my breath as I let go. It held with minimal vibration for the entire trip home, over 600 miles. The next day, in the warmth of El Paso’s temps, the mirror began to sag, but the GGMT had done it’s job and got me home safely, and I still had plenty left over for other purposes.

this product is great. it is easy to use and can hold up to 30 pounds. we used it for pictures in the house. but can adhere to many different surfaces. can adhere to metal, glass, wood, stone and some plastics.

can also adhere to rough surfaces in additional to flat ones. this can be cut to whatever desired size you need. we have not tried to remove. the website has clear instructions on how to easily remove when you are ready.

i can think of many projects that i would use this for other than decorating.

We have been using the Scotch Permanent Mounting Tape for more than 25 years and have always enjoyed the multi-faceted utility of this incredible product. My wife creates all of our greeting and special occasion cards and uses this mounting tape to add dimension to card faces that pop out at the viewer.

I use this tape for mounting and attaching anything I need to put onto any flat surface. pictures, pods, signs, directions, etc. Not that flat is a criteria, this tape works equally well on curved surfaces when the mounting and mounted surfaces have the same curvature.

You will find this product indispensable once you try it. wide variety of.

I bought this product to mount things in the apartment I rent. It held great and worked as described. I give three stars because the fact that this tape is PERMANENT is nowhere to be found on the front of the package.

That needs to be crystal clear when the tape is designed to not be removable and most foam tape like this is. I should have read the fine print, I know. I sure wish I had after spending hours to get it off my walls.

the tape is not the same any more, will not hold items in place, now items will move a little when I hang things. they haven’t fallen off, they just sag a little from the spot after I install things now, they changed the quality of the sheer strength of the tape, I have put more tape on be it still sags ,the tape is to spongy now.

I have been using this 3M tape for over 30 years, now it doesn’t work for me anymore. IT WAS THE BEST TWO WAY TAPE YOU COULD BUY, now its just like the rest of the two way tape out there. NOW IT’S NOT WORTH THE MONEY ANYMORE FOR ME.

Sorry but I am very Disappointed in the change they made to this tapes quality. Glass Business.

Might be replaced by similar products but I respect the brand name. A thousand and one uses. For example, the shower curtain bar (spring expanding) used ot slip off all the time. I put a small square on each end and voila.

No risk of it slipping down even with the shower cloth and towels loading it. Pulls off easy enough when you want to change it. Some risk of pulling off surface finish on chipboard so it may be too strong for some situations.

This is the best invention of the last 20+ years! Seriously, no kidding, it really is. DO NOT BUY IF YOU PLAN TO DISSASEMBLE WHAT EVER THE TWO THINGS ARE Y0U ARE STICKING TOGETHER. FOR SURE YOU WANT TO KEEP THIS OUT OF THE REACH OF SMALL CHILDREN! I have never seen or used a double sided tape product that works as good as this.

Most of the other ones stick, if you are lucky, a couple of days, then everything comes unstuck, all the other tapes are useless if you ask me. This stuff holds tight, fast, indefinitely! Even in the broiling summer heat inside a vehicle.

I had the chance to mount a 10 LB item to the top of my vehicle dash, I did not want to drill holes in it, and this stuff can be removed with a fair amount of tenacity and patience. The device I needed to mount to my dash, where it gets no shade, has never come unstuck, become a gooey mess, you know what happens with any other kind of double sided tape in high temp environments.

Not this stuff, it totally rocks! It holds fast and refuses to ever let go, no matter what. They say it even works under water!.

This product worked wonders to glue two desk organizers (with slightly uneven surfaces) together! I tried a supposed strong-hold glue before this product and that failed miserably. Saw this during my shopping at Joann’s and picked it up.

So glad I did. Fantastic hold so far and so easy to use.

I would not recommend this product at all. I usually don’t write bad reviews but this purchase deserves it due to the disappointment. Please note that I researched many brands and reviewed many reviews on varies websites before purchasing.

I purchased this to hang a lightweight picture and plastic shelf on my kitchen wall, unfortunately, this would not hold for 1 minute (seriously, not even 1 minute). I covered the entire perimeter of each item in mounting tape and still it would fall off the wall immediately.

I wish I could’ve returned this but I used the entire tape roll trying to secure two simple decor items and reapply tape where needed when it would fall. I thought I would at-least have some left over for other projects.

Definitely look at other mounting tape brands that can hold heavy items. This tape can only probably hold something small and extremelyyyyy lightweight (make sure it is way under 10 pounds though instructions state it can hold up to 10 pounds.

A few years ago I mounted all of my prints on my walls with Scotch double-sided tape, and they are still all there! Recently I bought some new prints that needed mounting and thought I’d try “Gorilla” double-sided tape as I’d heard good things about it, but it was extremely hard to use as the backing was almost impossible to peel off.

And withing a few hours all the prints that I’d used Gorilla tape on had fallen down! Maybe the surface was the issue – it’s slightly rough dry wall with a coating of paint. So I bought a new roll of Scotch double-sided tape and stuck the prints to the wall with that with no problems at all, and the backing peels off without any problem.

This was the absolute WORST double sided tape I’ve come across. Unable to remove the blue backing to make double sided. It might as well be duck tape itself. It was like glue and never got a start to get the blue back or front or whatever you need to call it double sided tape.

Blue duck tape effectively – not double sided. Poorly made or poorly stored at the local store I bought it at. Expensive for what it was and is not. This product makes me believe that the quality of the duck brand has shot into the dumpster.

Double sided duck tape. Angry laugh at how long it took to not peel backing off and cannot hang a simple poster with double sided tape! Super sad the state of prices increases while quality decreased horribly!.

The Duck double sided Duck Tape has worked perfectly for all of my needs. While strong, the tape is thin so when attaching items it’s not apparent that the tape is in place. For example, one of our feline family members discovered that he could pull off the vented access panel to the jetted tub – and crawl inside.

I needed to put an end to that adventure & pulled out this trusty tape. It worked like a charm – he can no longer get inside, the panel rests flush on the tile, and with a little effort I can still remove the panel if needed.

The tape easily comes off the roll & the protector being blue makes it easy to see when separating it from the double sided tape. The blue sheet peels off cleanly & easily making it a snap to use. Scissors easily cut the tape to the desired length and it’s easy to find the edge on subsequent uses.

This stuff is strong! Since I am not very handy – it’s either fix it with a duct tape or forget about it. I love this Double Sided Duck Tape! You can literally stick anything to anything with this duck tape.

The quality is great, it is fairly easy to work with, great adhesion, lots of tape on a roll and it does not leave any sticky residue on the surface. I’ve used it for several projects around the house.

I’ve fixed my door mat to the floor because my iRobot always gets stuck on the mat edges. You know what, the mat looks permanent now – it does not move at all. I also used this Double Sided Duck Tape to hang picture frames in my living room.

I am so happy I did not have to put holes in my walls – these guys aren’t going anywhere now. I taped the plant stand down without ruining my floors and taped the plants down so that my dogs do not make mess around the house anymore.

If you are like me, this stuff will become your friend. Absolutely recommend!.

Pure and simple, for the price this is the best double backed tape I’ve found. It doesn’t seem to mind the weather, it sticks and it holds. My original use was to put aluminum corner reinforcements on fiberglass sign panels.

Two years later, probably around 120 corners reinforced and not a single failure. The longer I have this, the more uses I find for it. Stuck a wooden suet feeder on the side of a wooden bird feeder, it’s out of direct weather, but it’s held for two seasons.

The latest is holding small magnetic switches on a backing, what an easy and convenient way to solve that mounting issue. When they say permanent, they mean it. On bare steel, its there to stay. Honestly, I have never used a 3M product that didn’t do what it says.

I do wish it came in wider widths, but when I compare the price of the wider 3M tapes, I keep deciding to use two pieces.

I was recently at home depot when i stumbled on a 15 lbs and 30 lbs weight strength Scotch didn’t know they even carried any and noticed the 15 lbs same length and same price as that of the 5 lbs i purchased but overall its a great tape i love it and will be loving it more with the 15lbs strength.

I was quite impressed with this Gorilla Clear Mounting Tape. I was specifically looking for a clear mounting tape for a curved item I needed to affix to my metal door. White mounting tape wasn’t an option since the round edging of the item would make the mounting show and since it’s a metal door, I didn’t really see an option to nail it in.

This mounting tape doesn’t have the same texture as white mounting tape. It’s more of a gel type texture. As such, it was a bit difficult to remove the other side of the tape from the backing (and a bit difficult to cut), however this texture turned out to be an advantage.

Why you ask? Because this texture makes it moldable. So not only is it clear enough that you can mount something without the mounting being visible, but you can also use your fingers to mold the shape of the tape afterwards to hold on to any circular edges.

This technique also helped with getting the tape to fully come in contact with both the item and metal. You can also squeeze it to hug the item or push whatever is left underneath, due to it’s flexibility.

So far, my item has stood up well. I trust the Gorilla brand in genera, but in addition, after using this, l feel like this clear mounting tape is going to stand the test of time and anything I use it for will withstand the test of time.

These are amazing. I bought spice racks to add to my cabinet, and I started with a competitor’s strips. It immediately fell. I used this gorilla mounting tape and it is working like a charm. It’s been about 5 days and no budging.

I will no longer buy the other brands strips.

I was hopeful but didn’t expect much! I ended up being very pleased with the quality and durability of this tape so far. It’s held for a few weeks now, time will tell how well it will last over the months and years.

But so far it’s doing better than most other products like it! Another win for the Gorilla Company!.

I use my ATG applicator daily. The tape can be refilled and the applicator can be reused for years. Loading it is simple and because of its ease of use my craft projects are completed takes much less time.

My problem is finding the refill tape. Hobby Lobby no longer carries, Michael’s had one opened package on the rack (which I bought), and low inventories at Joann’s is also disappointing.

While using this to cleanly affix signage to glass to avoid curling regular tape is okay, don’t use it on anything you can’t use a razor on to get all the bits off when it’s time for the sign to come down.

If the back side of your sign is going to show, remember the tape will also– it’s not invisible and doesn’t disappear like “invisible” tapes do– so put it on neatly, or your clean presentation toward the front will be undermined by the messy presentation of the back.

For short or long term use, curling regular tape to affix signs to walls and most surfaces comes off faster and cleaner. This stuff is GREAT when permanently attaching paper to paper, but if you need a long strip of it, be prepared to grab it before it curls and sticks to itself.

This will also help you avoid creases on whatever you’re sticking it to. As an avid scrapbooker, I would NOT use it to affix photos into a scrapbook or any other long term photo album. Tape deteriorates, dries out over time, and loses its adherent properties.

Use an adhesive specifically designed for that purpose and save your grandchildren headaches. If you just want to put some photos on a poster board for an event or something like that, using this tape is fantastic– they aren’t going to fall off, but don’t expect to be able to easily remove the tape when you are done.

Bought initially for sticking radiator foil on to the wall. Did that job perfectly and easily. Seems to have fairly good adhesion but have not used for anything else yet. Backing removed fairly easily as well compared to others I’ve used previously.

Good value and reasonable length.

I purchased this tape after reading other good reviews. I used it to stick double foil PE Foam insulation to the inside of a garage. It worked very well on plywood boarding but not so well on chipboard where it would gradually unpeel itself over a day or so so I had to resort to the staple gun for the chipboard roof.

The plywood sides however proved no problem at all. so far! I have to say that at least four of the twelve reels I purchased had a production flaw in that after approx 10m into the reel the ‘peelable’ side swapped sides and instead of being on the outside it swapped to the inside making it a bit tricky to apply the tape directly from the reel but did not prove to be too much of a problem.

just a little irritating! I would recommend this tape as it is the best price I could find anywhere and is of reasonably good quality.

Easy to use. Great stickiness. There’s alot of tape in the roll of double sided tape. The tape can be ripped or cut. It is also was to peel the protective cover off. Definitely would buy it again.

WE bought this because it’s supposed to hold up to 10 pounds. We used it for floating shelves for my mom’s salt and pepper shaker collection. They are small and empty and the shelves are light weight.

There is no way they come to 10 lbs. On some of the shelves we used 2 strips and none of the strips were short. We used a strip long enough for the entire shelf each time and pressed them in to make sure they stuck-at least they were supposed to.

THEY CAME CRASHING DOWN!! Some of these were gifts and not replaceable. We will never use this again!.

I tried many things to mount my welcome sign as you enter the house, This mounting tape is the only thing that held it up perfectly. I strongly recommend it for any mounting on the walls without using nails.
